Okay, another yap session by yours truly /silly, this time more Bang analysis and theorizing/headcanoning

Disclaimer: Anything I say is ofc not canon and this is all my opinions and head canons, so please believe what you want to believe and if you don't agree ofc that's totally fine, I'm just sharing my ideas ^^ Also TW for mention of verbal and physical abuse.

Alright, so I've noticed this little detail: when the gang all close their eyes as a reaction to something loud or after crashing, Bang seems to always have his eyes not 100% fully closed. Like they're just ever so slightly open still, as shown with these examples:

This is interesting to me and yes, I know this is probably just him having special eyes (and by that I mean that he sometimes also gets animated with frog blinking meanwhile no one else in Team 341B does that bc idk Bang's "special" like that <3), but me being the over-analyzing person that I am and of course my big hyper fixation on Bang, I think this could mean something deeper.

Okay for a quick recap, as you may or may not know, I've previously made a old post (this one here) talking about how Bang also covers and shields his head a lot when scared or senses danger and how I headcanon that perhaps this is a natural response for him because he was possibly yelled/scolded at as a kid by his wealthy and "perfect" parents who looked down at him whenever he accidentally knocked something over, made a mess, or because of his "ignorance".

We can see examples like this in the "Why do we need to Recycle" episode of Ask The Storybots, where he gets yelled at by Angry Annie for his "incompetence" for misunderstanding that garbage naturally just goes away, and in the "Glue" episode of Storybots Answer Time where he fears that his friend Emmitt is about to explode in anger at the fact that he accidently broke everything in his model room.

He is scared of being yelled at for his mistakes and "carelessness", shielding himself not only because of the loud shouting but also perhaps because what would happen after when he was younger is that he might've been... hit or "physically disciplined" by his parents. MY POOR BABY-- anyways. (I don't know why I headcanon this maybe I just like the angst and adding depth to him)

So anyways, back on topic: As I showed earlier with how Bang always keeps his eyes slightly open when he hears a loud crash or sound, that's also probably the same thing going on where it was a another left-over habit built into him to protect himself so he could see danger. You know what I mean? Yeah.

Okay so another thing I've also noticed is whenever Bang gets grabbed or shaken, his eyes shake around like googly eyes or get misplaced? Like lopsided or off-center.

Also in all these cases its Bo, but that also adds to this current point. So this gave me a totally silly idea, trust me guys. So you know my headcanon oc Meg, his mom, right? Fun fact: She's super strong and Ned, my headcanon oc for Bang's dad, is actually a wimp (I mean he's a office worker nerd lol) so that's where Bang gets his abnormally crazy strength from.

But here's the kicker... What if silly headcanon idea that Meg would try to "shake some sense" into young Bang occasionally, via grabbing him by the shoulders and shaking him back and forth while trying to talk some sense into him when she's frustrated with him. But what makes this worse, if you remember, that she's super strong, sometimes not knowing her own strength... *devious smirk* Also that's why Bo being the one that ya know grabs Bang and stuff is important because she's the only bot that's bigger and has more force than Bang, akin to Meg and little Bang.

So Meg unknowingly caused his brain to shake around in his head over time and eventually caused him to develop something of the likes of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) (that thing that football players can get from minor head injuries repeated over time) Now listen, I'm no way knowledgeable in medical stuff, but after looking up the symptoms for these it just sorta blew my mind. Just look at some examples here.

Like I think Bang fits these to some extent. Not to say that if he does match these that it must be some condition like this, but if you look further into my examples it could help sell this potential idea that something's just a bit slightly wrong with him <3 /silly /lh

And like i said, if you want any more proof that something is indeed "off", just look at all the times he's been "broken":

WHY DOES THIS MAN CONSTANTLY GET "BROKEN"? IT HAPPENS SO OFTEN. Probably from all the head trauma from crash landing on his head or something. But dawg this is a normal occurrences at stated by Bing. SOMEONE NEEDS TO CHECK HIM OUT OR TAKE HIM TO THE DOCTER, THIS IS NOT OKAY DAWG 😭

Most of these are from him after he crash lands on the ground really hard or gets crashed into or something fell on his head, but he also gets his mind gets blown by "abstract concepts" like the question of "what makes stuff different than other stuff" and from the shock that there's a shape with 20 sides.

Like are you not qualified to work in the answer department answering questions? Oh wait he isn't actually LMAO /silly

Okay so another point is Bang's seemingly worsening memory/signs of memory loss:

I made this clip video to showcase how Bang is seemingly losing his memory??? Like how does he not know/remember that they live in COMPUTERS, even Bing said it's in the theme song. Like Bang made a whole deep speech about how they as storybots are too small to even comprehend how the computers they live in work by using, dare I say, beautiful analogies. And yes, I know you're probably thinking that "Hey, well ATS and SAT are two different shows or ya know that there's bound to be some small inconsistences." BUT in season 1 of SAT, we see Bang whistling but then later in season 2 of the same show he's apparently lost or forgotten his ability to whistle and has to pull out a metal one to actually do it.

And yes again, it could be yet another unintentional inconsistency (it might actually be bc I know i'm overanalyzing everything for the sake of headcanons) but the last two clips in this video I made shows how SAT makes a direct reference to a moment in ATS: How Boop mentions the fact that he likes anchovies on a pizza, Bing think's it's disgusting and says "Boop, nobody like anchovies", and Bang steps up to defend Boop and to share his humble opinion that he himself likes anchovies too. So what i'm saying is that if SAT can make such a callback like that, then why are these other things not lined up? Idk I just think its intriguing. (Also please don't think I'm dogging on the show for not 100% following the tiniest details lol)

This is just some silly rambles about some stuff found in the Storybots Style Guide.

Also warning it might be mostly a lot about Bang bc he's so silly I love him sorry about my autism /j /silly 🤗

Brother look at Bang's posture bro, this is supposed to be a proper height line up but bro's just too slouched back to stand up straight. Like i feel like he could be as tall as Bo if he actually straighten his back and unbent his legs.

Okay so in the style guide they have a section showing example poses and expressions for each member of Team 341B, four in 3D and four in 2D. Except for some reason, Bang has a extra 2D image.

Like look at this dawg, he has a whole extra page just for this fifth pose. Its only him for some reason, why? idk Maybe he's just special like that idk /silly

Also quick shoutout to Boop, he's pretty underrated. Gotta show him some respect bc he's cool and I like him a lot. He definitely needs more appreciation 🙏

Okay so originally I was gonna add context and everything to Melissa and Bang's sibling dynamic, but after seeing how much I wrote I've decided to just put it on this reblog instead so that it won't boggle down the original post with all this text.💀 So be warned because I'm not good at condensing stuff LMAO, so enjoy:

Melissa (my oc), is a virus who's basically a storybot equivalent to a skin walker. So at first she started off as a mostly shapeless form of pink glitchy electricity that loomed in the shadows in the computer world, being planted in the computer to execute her virus code of starting and spreading a virus. Her task at first was to monitor a computer worm that her creator also planted and to ensure that it grew and spread, being the starting point of infection. But one day when she was watching it crawl its way through the internet department, a young Bang who was visiting the department with his dad Ned (also my oc) and was wandering around until he spotted the oddly colorful worm on the ground. And being the lil upid kid that he was, he thought it was a yummy gummy worm and just picked it up and ated it.

This obviously shocked young Melissa and disrupted the whole original plan, so then said plan was changed to now watching and keeping a close eye on Bang, the new host and expected patient zero of the virus. So over the years Melissa observed him from afar, learning everything about his life and stuff as she loomed in the shadows, her form slowly shifting and adapting to look more storybot-like the more she learned about them and their society. Eventually she grew sick of always having to stay hidden, having to sneak around underground and living a life (if you can call it that) just watching others and not being able to be a part of it. Especially having to keep tabs on Bang and growing hateful of him and his existence since he messed everything up and set her back from completing her life's purpose. So she finally stabilized her form and gave herself her own storybot appearance/sona, having been inspired mostly by Bang, via having the same height/build as him, but of course everything else about her was to her own personal likeness; her own skin.

So then she finally stepped out of the shadows and started her new life as a "real storybot", but ofc still having her hidden agenda of monitoring Bang, now mostly out of hate since even to this day he seems to have no symptoms or side effects from the computer worm that's still planted inside his mind, besides him slowly losing his memory recall abilities and poor coordination. And so this is where the "Love Sick" AU would start where Mellissa slowly but surely makes a name for herself and gaining presence in storybot society, soon finally meting Bang face to face to coyly manipulate him into being the face and spokesperson for her new social movement/campaign called "Project I LOVE YOU" (based off of the irl I LOVE YOU virus) so that she can use him eventually to activate the worm and start the infection.

Okay, done with backstory/lore. But yeah, that's why Melissa hates Bang and ofc has to hide it from him and others because she needs to use him to be able to use the computer worm that's now been fully planted inside him that has not yet been activated yet. EHEHE I just love the dynamic of how Bang is literally just a liked guy with no enemies since he's just chill like that, but meanwhile Melissa is secretly fuming with hatred and resentment towards him and he doesn't have a clue in the world about it LMAO. Also Melissa is totally also not secretly jealous of him because he's so easily liked and gets fame and attention without even having to try, meanwhile she's been living like a outsider who just secretly wants to be an actual person/storybot who people actually like and care about without having to coax people with her fake cheery and loving facade.

Anyways, after the "Love Sick" AU and the good ending where society is restored back to normal from infection and Melissa is redeemed and can finally just live out the life of a normal storybot, she actually grows closer to Bang as a sister figure and starts to show actual compassion and care. So they both become like adopted siblings in a sense and plus it makes sense since Melissa basically did grew up along side Bang over the years. I just think their post "Love Sick" AU bond is really sweet, like despite how she slowly grew to hate everything about him and wanting the worse for him, he isn't affected by it and still tried to see the good in her and then both of them realizing they actually have a lot in common (which shouldn't be a surprise since literally he was the main inspiration she looked up to (ironically enough)).

Background:

Widget was born to Irene Clementine, a gentle gardener who died shortly after childbirth due to medical complications. Their well-meaning but distracted father, Allen Kiosk, tried to care for them while working as an inventor. One day, while Allen was absorbed in a project, Widget wandered off, drawn by their natural curiosity, and fell into a transport tube that whisked them away to the outer world. Alone in the woods but unafraid, Widget was wandering around when soon they were found by Julabie, a kind, mystical dragon. She had never seen anyone like them before, so after taking on a large squirrel form, she lovingly raised Widget as her own. Years later, during Widget’s adolescence, Julabie spotted a trio of bots in the woods. Believing this might be Widget’s only chance to reconnect with their kind, she encouraged them to approach while quietly slipping away, wanting the best for Widget. The bots were young Milo and his parents, Morion and Amber, who were out rock scouting. Startled at first, they soon realized Widget was alone and brought them back to the computer world. After being placed in the foster care system, Widget met Cameron, a fellow foster kid who became like an older brother figure. When Widget felt self-conscious about their antenna (a rare trait among storybots) Cameron gave them one of his old pink beanies, which Widget still wears today. A year later, Morion and Amber checked in and after seeing how much Widget missed Milo, since he was the first other storybot they saw in years, officially adopted them. Adapting to modern life was difficult. Without early schooling and raised in the wild, Widget struggled with middle school and felt out of place. Still, they grew closer with Milo and enjoyed a stable, supportive home. During high school Widget worked part-time at a pizza shop as a cook and delivery person, and after a few years after graduating high school, they eventually enrolled in college to find what they really wanted to pursue in life. There, Widget quite literally bumped into Bang. What started as an awkward first meeting turned into a close friendship. They did everything together; hanging out, late-night talks, and having laughs. One night, both questioning their place in society and purpose, they decided to leave college and go on a road trip without telling anyone. That impulsive choice led them to countless experiences across the computer world and somewhere along the way, their long-simmering feelings surfaced. They confessed their love and after the trip, moved into a cozy apartment together. Their quiet domestic life took a sudden turn when Bang accidentally received a job acceptance letter from the Answer Department. Trying to clarify the mistake, he ended up hired on the spot due to a staffing shortage and thus joining Team 341B. Widget, wanting to help with bills, took a job in the Archives Department as a retrieval associate.

I will write and post a fanfic of Widget about their college life and how they met Bang and their whole "how they became best buds and a thing together", I don't know when since grrr writing is hard but I'll of course post it online and make a post about it in the future. ^^
