I feel like this scene says a lot about Harry and his life. He did not fight Voldemort because he wanred to, he didn't want to be 'the hero'. He was thrown into the fight, but he grew to the challenge and won.
He did not step forward. He did not volunteer to fight Voldemort, he just stood there and watched the whole world back away.
The whole wizarding world (except the Order of the Pheonix) stood back. But Harry looked at the evil and way flustered, speechless, motionless.
He did not back away, out of pure terror maybe, but as he turned he saw every one else behind him. And he knew, if he was the only one left, he had to do it.
Furthermore, Hagrid volunteered him. He choose Harry, just as Voldemort chose him to fight.
Bravery is not always stepping forward. Sometimes it's remaining still, while everyone backs away.
