IT'S NOT JUST CLAUDIA, it's Jinx from Arcane, it's Chloe from Miraculous Ladybug, it's Homura Akemi from Madoka Magica, it's Regina George from Mean Girls, it's Azula from ATLA. I think it has something to do with the idea of women as both emotionally volatile and tactile. Additionally, young women are typically in a place to be manipulated by larger evils, often losing their morals while being puppeteered by a bigger baddie and then being blamed for being awful (which isn't to say they DON'T do awful things, but STILL, gang). My hands are trembling and my eyes have a shake to them as I grip you by the shoulders and stare into your eyes but in a really normal way about this.

Maybe it's because Ivan's heart beats for Till's when Till's doesn't beat for him? It could also be symbolic of how Till was "dead" in that moment, because he had lost his will to live and survive. In "Cure," we are experiencing Till at his lowest, being the most unlike his healthy self: he is a broken figure in this song. You can see it from his body language and expression, but also from the way he dresses. He loses his original rebellious punk look in favor of a far more suppressed and "mainstream" look, a bit closer to the genre of clothes typically worn by Ivan and Luka (two characters who typically play by ALNST rules). The heartbeat returning shows Ivan's heart is still beating with willpower, which he uses to ensure that Till lives instead of himself (because only he had that power in the moment). But that's just my opinion, idk, mwah, <3333, #justafilmtheoryig I love analysis, I love ALNST, I love feeling normal and healthy thoughts about this series.

i was just listening to Cure from alien stage and someone needs to tell me why the heartbeat stops and the flatline takes over before Till starts singing, but the heartbeat continues during the flatline when Ivan goes up to sing.

Quick Till Analysis

According to his page on the Alien Stage Fandom Wiki, Till is actually a 16Personality INFP, aka the Mediator. This might seem completely off-course for such an aggressive guy, but the website defines this personality type as having “vibrant, passionate inner lives” and a “commitment to authenticity.” In this sense, Till fits the definition perfectly, being well known for his creativity in the arts of song-writing, drawing, and even floral art, according to his official character profile. Till isn’t necessarily naturally aggressive, he’s naturally reactive—he responds to what is thrown at him and the environment he’s in. It’s only natural that in the world of Alien Stage, he would feel the need to rebel due to the constant oppression and constraints placed on him, both physically and emotionally. Still, for all his tough front, he’s very sensitive to those he cares about, e.g. a certain pink-haired girlie.

Till’s unrequited feelings and idolization of Mizi are a very central part of his character. Overall, yes, there’s a romantic nature to his feelings, but there’s also very much a degree of idolization and idealization. He’s in love with the idea he’s created of her and what she represents: hope, brightness, a light at the end of the tunnel. He even declares in his Round 2 song, Unknown (Till the End), “I wanna know all about you,” revealing how shallow his actual relation to Mizi is. More so than love, his feelings are similar to limerence: a desperate desire for reciprocation, affection, and an idealized view of the object of his affections. So does this make his feelings shallow and fickle? Not quite. While they might be idealistic and shallow in origin, I think there’s a very deep-rooted necessity for them. Within “Till the Unknown,” one of the lyrics translates to “the edelweiss of my feelings that blossomed for you.” Edelweiss is a flower that symbolizes love, but perhaps more importantly, it symbolizes devotion, strength, and daring. These are all very key traits to Till’s character. By linking these emotions to his feelings for Mizi, it shows how important her role is as motivation for him to persist in fighting and therefore in order to keep living.  Till needs Mizi to live, to have some hope for their still being goodness and happiness in this miserable world. A repeated symbol for Till are red flowers, something associated with Mizi. At about 46 seconds into the Youtube video “ALIEN STAGE,” featuring Sua’s song “Sweet Dream,” a young Till is seen bound by various restraints while gripping a red flower in his hand. That flower is his affection and hope, something he needs to hold onto amidst all his suffering.

Ivan's affection for Till is shown as both violent and obsessive and dependent and unhealthy. But I think his twisted kind of love is a beautiful example of characterization.
