For the past few days I’ve been back to counting calories, making better choices with what I eat and weighing daily. It seems to be working, the number is slowly going down. I just need to add back the exercise and we’ll be on a great path, but first things first. I need to cement a good relationship with food.

I’m back...
I won’t be posting much here as I am to get back into good routines and undo some of the damage of the last few hectic months. However, I’ll be around if anyone fancies a chat and to look for motivation, recipes and advice.  Hope everyone’s journey’s are going well, and if you’ve been off your path like I have, then today’s a great day to start again.

Trying again.  Again again. Again again again again. Fuck.  This time has to stick. I need it to if the next few years are going to go anything like I want them to.

This. I’m so lucky to have this.

Hiya ! What you already achieved is amazing and I'm really sure you can maintain the healthy habits you gained 👊 Also, even if the people around you don't notice the the progress or if it takes time , don't get tricked by your brain into giving up ! Trust the process ! All that matters is that one day you'll get there !!!! Pull through 💪💪
Thank you so much for your encouragement. It definitely helps me try to keep in the right frame of mind. <3

As I approach about a 40lbs loss, I’m nervous. Nervous that I won’t make it, or that I’ll slip up again, or that it’ll take longer than it should to lose the last couple of pounds that would make it 40lbs since July 2017. I’m also a little disappointed. 40lbs sounds huge but I don’t think people can notice it. I don’t feel a ‘wow’ when I look at my body and think about how it used to look. Of course I still have a long way to go, but I’m 40lbs down from where I started and even though it’s taken a long time, progress is progress.

Been shit about eating good food. Downloaded healthy eating habit meditation talks/podcasts to try and get me in the right mind-frame. Found an online shop where I can buy imitation meat to up the protein and feel less tempted to buy bad food because we’ll have more variety.
Here we go again *bangs head on wall*

I had about a week of not eating great and gained back over a kilo. I’m really disappointed in myself so I’m being stricter today. I gave myself a plan to be close to 90kg by late April in time for vacation and that isn’t looking likely. I let myself down. It’s also pretty rough that I gained and my husband lost despite eating the same amount of shite.

January
It’s been a pretty good start but I also feel that it could have been better. I lost 3.7kg/8lbs from 27th December to January 31st. I had a NSV in that I was able to wear a pair of work trousers that were previously too small. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with the loss, but I’ll feel happier when I’m closer to 109kg and below that. I reached just above 110kg a while back and then gained again so once I move further away from 110kg then it’ll feel like real progress again. Does that make sense? Idk.
Goal for February - lose at least 3kg. My gym is closed for 10 days over Lunar New Year so I won’t be making fitness specific goals. I still need to eat more protein and drink a hell of a lot more water. I’ll also try to stick to 1500 calories a day because I’m currently eating around 1600 and the weight loss is quite slow.

Finally...a little win.
Some of you may or may not know that I actually went on a huge health kick about 5 years ago. I went from 112kg (maybe more I’m not entirely sure) to 92kg. I dropped many dress sizes and honestly, the difference in confidence was incredible. Unfortunately, but also very fortunately, life got in the way. I met my now-husband and my priorities changed. I went from working as a part-time supply teacher to moving to China to teach full time. I didn’t even realise that I was piling on the weight. I guess I should have noticed when I had to buy bigger trousers, but part of me just thought that I’d gained just a little. I moved cities in the summer of 2017 and I weighed myself for the first time in a while. I had hit the highest weight of my life - 125kg. In the summer, I managed to lose a few kilos through exercise videos. This was also around the time I became vegetarian. I think people assume that being vegetarian means you’re healthy - only if you’re being a healthy vegetarian. When work started back then the health kick slowed and paused. I had managed to lose about 7kg and my weight stabilised around 118kg. Following the summer of 2018, I again tried to lose some and got my weight down to 113kg but since then I’ve been bouncing around between 111kg and 113kg. I hit the lowest of about 110.8kg one day a few months ago but it must have been a fluke because I immediately was back up above 111kg.
My small goal was to hit 110kg.
Today I passed it...today I weighed 109.8kg.  I know that it has been an incredibly slow journey, but I haven’t given up. Progress is progress. Since July 2017, I’ve lost over 15kg. Honestly, to look at me you probably wouldn’t tell, but I’m sure my body is happier. I’m healthier. I’m working on it.
Here’s to the next mini-goal of 100kg. I can do this. I know, because I’ve done it before.

Had some shit news yesterday so ended up overeating to try and hide the feelings. Obviously it wasn’t a good idea and I suffered for it today, including gaining some weight. Eating less calories today in the hopes of it balancing out.

It’s been about 16 days since we started really focusing on our diet and exercise and I’m down about 6lbs. I’m really happy with that. If I lose just a little more then I’ll be my lowest in about 2-3 years. I have a long way to go but this is a good start and we are focused and determined.
We weigh daily - some people might think this is too much but we don’t only focus on weight. We look at the fat loss, muscle mass, water, and BMR data that our smart scale gives us. I’m not obsessing like I used to: if my weight doesn’t go down one day, I don’t panic because I know there can be other reasons.
I use LoseIt! to keep track of my calorie intake. I prefer it to myfitnesspal. I make sure to count all of my calories including cooking oils, which is something I neglected before.
We go to the gym at least 4-5 days a week. I’ve started C25K again and I alternate between that and walking at an incline. I’ll probably add some elliptical and bike to ensure cardio doesn’t get stale. Plus we have our three day weight machine routine which gets our muscles working.
All in all it’s going well.
