Mama and baby <3
WARNING DEATH AND DROWNING:
I think a part of me changed forever when I found one of her babies had fallen in our gutter and passed away :( and I picked the baby up and felt its tiny new body warm from the washing machine that had just drained over it, and I plopped the baby near the shed where her and the rest of her babies are burrowed under and waited every day, checking, until the baby was gone.

The Human habit of thinking we can understand anything. When the act of understanding is an impossible task. We never fully know what it is to be something inhuman, becuase it is not Human, and our perspective is only human. So is understanding not a misunderstanding? And does kinship not lie in boundless knowledge, but the "understanding" that something can never be understood and a simple coexistence, a recognition that the other is there, be enough?

"Capitalist realism, however, entails subordinating oneself to a reality that is infinitely plastic, capable of reconfiguring itself at any moment” [1]
I believe hedvas notion to“endure[ing]”[2] is aligned with “remain[ing] in existence”; to “last.”[3] Similar to the efforts we as humans take to engrave our legacy so it lasts as long as our cities take to decay in some far future. The “infinitely plastic” giant; Capitalism, has consumed this nature. We must keep in mind that humanity is temporal which is why we have a preservative nature. Yet, mortality is detested and avoided in current Western society, which in turn, denies us as beings who innately need support. Consequently, the infrastructures of support that were made for humans are unaligned with the temporal human body, they are a product of afterthought, techniques to keep Capitalism bearable. Capitalism disguises itself in our traditions of ‘passing down’, feigning mortality, as we have known no other option of life for centuries it convinces us of its necessity due to its familiarity. Capitalism isnt organic: it is a machine that can run with or without us (ai) and it hiding withing the temporality of human tradition, discuises it as mortal, human, an ally, when it is infact beating us like a dead horse. Consequently, I believe Capitalism for many has transitioned from just the need to ‘survive’ to persistence. A slow grueling marathon and at the end we will be able to see the tiny, insignificant scratch we made in the concrete, in the world. This has led to a Western society incapable of comprehending death, an end to all things, allowing it to simmer into pressure within the subconscious, to fear-drive a working nation. An unnatural fear that is curated by a Capitalism that discuises itself inside our mortal flesh. This shift gives Capitalism the power to use bodies as though they are permanent. Temporary bodies are expected to do anything to make humanity persist, in turn, endorsing capitalism, and because it hides itself in our humanity, we do not know how to live without it. Proof of existence is more important than existence itself, unfortunately, many people (including myself) do not know how to exist.

oh another fun buddhism thing, bugs are in a kind of purgatory, where it's very difficult to accrue enough karma to reincarnate out of the bug realm, so when you see a bug you're supposed to say a prayer for it to help it gain karma. also, i say a lot of prayers for my cats, because they are so selfish and badly behaved that i'm almost certain they're going to be reincarnated as dust mites or something.

What I love about earthsea is the way it opens with this explanation of how names work in this world, often repeating throughout the books the importance of True Names and keeping them Absolutely Secret, Especially If You're A Wizard, only telling it to maybe one or two other people whom you trust the most. And then our boy Ged spends the first three books going around giving out his name left and right because he can't help forming lifelong bonds with anyone who's vaguely nice to him. Including two dragons and a teenager who imprisoned him in her labyrinth.
