The word “Tanakh” is derived from the traditional threefold division of the Hebrew Bible, the Torah (law), Nevi'im (prophets), and Kethuvim (writings). In Luke 24:44, Jesus refers to this threefold division of the Hebrew canon.
The New Jewish Publication Society Tanakh
I am reading the Old Testament from beginning to end for the first time, using the New Jewish Publication Society Tanakh:
Regarded throughout the English-speaking world as the standard English translation of the Holy Scriptures, the JPS TANAKH has been acclaimed by scholars, rabbis, lay leaders, Jews, and Christians alike. The JPS TANAKH is an entirely original translation of the Holy Scriptures into contemporary English, based on the Masoretic (the traditional Hebrew) text. It is the culmination of three decades of collaboration by academic scholars and rabbis, representing the three largest branches of organized Judaism in the United States. Not since the third century b.c.e., when 72 elders of the tribes of Israel created the Greek translation of Scriptures known as the Septuagint has such a broad-based committee of Jewish scholars produced a major Bible translation.
In executing this monumental task, the translators made use of the entire range of biblical interpretation, ancient and modern, Jewish and non-Jewish. They drew upon the latest findings in linguistics and archaeology, as well as the work of early rabbinic and medieval commentators, grammarians, and philologians. The resulting text is a triumph of literary style and biblical scholarship, unsurpassed in accuracy and clarity.  https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/901111.Tanakh
Unlike their 1917 translation, the new JPS Tanakh was entirely original and not based on any previous Christian translation. It’s both relatively easy to read and accurate to the traditional Masoretic text. The Hebrew Bible is coming alive to me in a way I never imagined.

One difference between the Hebrew Tanakh and Christian translations is that the Books of Chronicles are included at the very end, summarizing the story of the Hebrew Bible. In Christian versions, people often skip the Books of Chronicles, thinking it’s just a repeat of the Books of Kings.

Every step of the way, when you fall, and you have your shortcomings, He’s right there. When you have your victories, He’s right there. Give yourself grace, give yourself time to grow and appreciate it, because He’s growing with you. Every individual out here is experiencing a human life, a human experience and God is experiencing it with you. So when you go through things, He’s going with it. He’s right there with you. He’s talking to you. All you gotta do is talk back. I’ve walked on the beach every day, and I’m talking to God, I’m just talking. Like He the homie, I swear to God, I put that on my grandmama grave, I talk to Him. Next to me, like the homie, just like the people that you grow with. I don’t care if you gotta curse, you gotta cuss, you talk to Him as if you known Him since you was born, the way He knows you. It’s the truth. It’s the truth. - Kendrick Lamar

When this Orthodox Christian priest visited Gaza, he gave a little girl a tiny, cheap flag of Australia.
The entire village of Palestinian Muslims then rushed to thank him for a gift you could find at a dollar store.
She had never received a gift in her life.
"This Palestinian Muslim girl, she's my sweetheart. Stop killing little angels."

Biden’s abiding support for Israel will lose him the election
BY JAMES ZOGBY, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR  - 06/07/24 10:00 AM ET
Voters who care deeply about racial justice here in the U.S. hear the racist, genocidal comments toward Palestinians made by Israeli leaders. Voters who care deeply about food insecurity and poverty here in the U.S. see Israel is using starvation as a weapon of war in Gaza. Voters who care deeply about women’s rights here see the stories of Palestinian women who are giving birth without anesthesia because Israel’s military has restricted humanitarian aid and medical supplies into Gaza and systematically targeted the healthcare system.

The modern state of Israel has targeted innocent women, children and elderly from the very beginning. Rather than an aberration, Deir Yassin fits a pattern of ethnic cleansing. We only know about this particular massacre because it happened to be publicized.

Through riveting and moving personal recollections of both Palestinians and Israelis, 1948: Creation & Catastrophe reveals the shocking events of the most pivotal year in the most controversial conflict in the world. It tells the story of the establishment of Israel as seen through the eyes of the people who lived it. But rather than being a history lesson, this documentary is a primer for the present. It is simply not possible to make sense of what is happening today without an understanding of 1948.
This documentary was the last chance for many of its Israeli and Palestinian characters to narrate their first-hand accounts of the creation of a state and the expulsion of a nation. Hear stories from the Israelis and Palestinians who personally lived through events in Haifa, Jaffa, Dayr Yasin, Acre, Jerusalem, Ramla, Lydda and more. These shocking and dramatic events reveal the core of what drives the conflict today.

In 1948 the history of Palestine changed forever, but little is ever said about the upheaval faced by its Christian minority. Christians have lived side by side with Muslims and Jews for almost two thousand years. An integral part of Palestinian society, they have shared in the events of recent history, yet their voices are seldom heard and worse: their existence often ignored.

Many remember this iconic image, but how many people know the Israeli government denied he was even dead, after they killed him?
