this will be my last sw post for a while (rest, i need), but I think it's worth remembering that while Luke is cheerful and bold, he also canonically nearly killed Vader in a blind rage. He canonically viciously snaps at people. He canonically throws things in anger. He canonically is so impatient Yoda nearly dipped. Even in episode 6, which is the basis for a lot of the characterization I see, his calmness comes across an iron control, not necessarily gentleness. I do think a lot of the former is due to immaturity, so gently serene Jedi Luke is a reasonable characterization, but I also think it's worth remembering why Luke grew up so fast, why that iron control has appeared in episode 6, and why he is the furthest thing from careless.

Tbh the words is what I look at. If it's too short (aka 1k or less) I know I'm not in for much. Most of the time it's either all dialogue or rushed scenes that don't flow well. Even if it's a one shot.
By this I mean, what is the most influential on your decision? E.g., for me it is the summary because I rarely pay attention to the title or stats, and only read the tags after I've liked the summary enough to want to give the fic a go.
#not talking about drabbles ofc#i feel 1k words doesnt get to capture whay youre really trying to tell#ao3#fanfic

The devastating thing about Maul and Ezra's relationship is that Maul clearly wants to care about someone and love someone, but he has no idea how to outside of manipulation.
There were times when he genuinely cared for Ezra and Ezra's safety, only for it boil back down to how Ezra could be of use to him. He doesn't know how to differentiate between loving someone unconditionally and loving them as a tool. He did the same thing when Savage, who he treated terribly btw.
He has so much love and he doesn't know how to use it, so instead he just torments the fuck out of people. It's awful to watch on both ends, and I truly think death was the only thing that could have saved him.

Followed by Cody handing Obi-Wan his lightsaber back and saying "you'll need this" and then Order 66 happens.
Cody asking when has he ever let Obi-Wan down as one of the last things they ever say to each other was a violation.

Forever thinking about how Kanan doesn't get mad at Ezra when he makes mistakes and he is understanding instead.
Im having Kanan and Ezra feelings again, in gathering forces when Ezra uses the darkside for the first time and Kanan being extremely worried.

Talking about star wars parallels, i was thinking about kanan and ezra/qui-gon and obi-wan
Not only do both have the "i'm not good enough to be your master so i'll push away , it's what's best for you" and "i'm doing my best, why do you push me away? am i not good enough to be your padawan?" dynamic, but also S1 E15 where they fight the Inquisitor??
Cause we know that last time a master and an apprentice fought a dark force user with a double red lightsaber on the high catwalks of a power generator/reactor, where the padawan falls to the lower pathway leaving the master to fight alone and the dark force user finally falls to his death... it didn't end up so well.
#i actually have no idea how the place they're fighting in is called#english is not my first language#i checked it on google translator and wookiepedia#catwalk? pathway? idk the bridge-like things they stand on#reactor and generator might as well be the same#star wars#obi wan kenobi#darth maul#kanan jarrus#star wars rebels#qui gon jinn#sw tpm#ezra bridger

This is coming from seeing someone say the bad batch was bad because it had filler. My brother in christ, you would have hated Julius Verne or even Adventure time.
The Tech race episode was filler? It gives us one more reason not to trust Cid.
The treasure hunt with Phee? We see Tech being invested which can lead us to Phee's and Tech's relationship. Also did you pay attention to the way they all reach for Omega to make sure she's okay? it let us know about the characters.
The one with the wookies? It lets us know where Gungi was and how the wookies live.
The rescue of Singh? He plays a role afterwards with ChuChi and also gives us a glimpse of Omega's and Cid's relationship, cause yeah, she's using Omega but we can hope she has a heart.
And sometimes it's good to see the characters have fun, or discover new planets and species that strenghten the lore.
"Life is what happens to you when youre busy making other plans" and some shows are about jumping from adventure to adventure and the plot happens meanwhile.
People sleep on filler episodes SO MUCH. Like, sure, this episode isn't adding anything to the main plot, but it's developing the characters and their relationships which, you know what? will affect the way they act during the main plot!!!
Aside from that, i like knowing how the characters are when they are not suffering the horrors.
#media literacy#star wars#the bad batch#i blame this on the lack of attention spam brought by consumerism#i blame this on capitalism#character development isnt always on major plot points#star wars rebels#star wars clone wars#tech tbb#filler episodes

Actually the fact that Padmé and Palpatine have the largest wardrobes in starwars to signify their Naboo heritage,
makes me wonder how the Naboo reacted to the Emperor suddenly not presenting himself “appropriately” (wearing that dingy black robe).
Considering how conservative Naboo is and how important class signifiers seem to be. Like his popularity is effected more by the fact the emperor is an outfit repeater than his actual politics.
