Resources for LGBTQIA+ People in the US

Here are some mental health, relocation, and gender-affirming care resources that are accessible in the US. I got majority of these resources from @/thetadvocate on ig. If anyone has additional resources, please feel free to reblog and add them!

Brief descriptions are provided of the services offered, and the names of each organization has been linked to lead to their website or linktree for additional information and resources.

Trans LifeLine - Peer support phone service run by trans people for trans and questioning peers. Call at 877-565-8860

Call BlackLine - Provides peer support and counseling for people who are most impacted by systematic oppression with an LGBTQ+ Black Femme Lens. Prioritizes BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color).

Available for anyone who is in crisis, wants to describe and interaction with law enforcement or vigilantes, or simply needs to talk through an experience. You do not have to provide any personal information to use this service. All calls remain private and will never be shared with law enforcement or state agencies of any kind. Call at 1 (800) 604-5841

SAGE Hotline - Free 24/7 support for LGBTQ+ elders. Call at 877-360-5428

The Trevor Project- 24/7 crisis hotline for LGBTQ+ youth. Click here for call, text, and chat information.

LGBT National Youth Talkline - Talkline for LGBTQ+ callers of any age. Hotline is open Mon-Fri from 11am-8pn pacific time (2pm-11pm eastern time) and on Saturdays from 9am-2pm pacific (12pm-6pm eastern). Call at 800-246-7743

Trans Advocacy And Care Team (TACT) - offers 3 free peer counseling sessions* for Trans people by trans-identified peer counselors, plus peer support groups. Support is available virtually to trans adults across the US.

*For ongoing support, TACT offers additional sessions on a sliding scale basis or can provide referrals to trans-affirming mental health providers.

National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network - healing justice organization committed to transforming mental health for queer and trans people of color. Offers community resources, directory of therapists, organization listing and crisis hotlines.

Rainbow Railroad - Helps LGBTQ+ people across the world escape state-sponsored violence, providing travel to their destination country and immediate, bridging post-travel support on arrival.

Elevated Access - Volunteer pilots transport passengers at no cost to access the gender affirming care they need.

Transcend Campaign - Funds out-of-state healthcare travel, inclusive school tuition, and small cash grants for queer youth in unsafe areas of Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and/or the Native Nations therein.

The TransLatin@ Coalition - Provides essential resources such as housing support, legal aid, and healthcare access to transgender, gender expansive, and intersex (TGI) immigrants in Los Angeles, California

Trans Rescue - Helps trans, intersex, and other people flee places where it is dangerous to be trans. They cannot fund travel, but can help create evacuation plans. Offers help both inside the US and outside of the US. Email usa-campaign@transrescue.org for 1 hour free consultation.

Marsha's House - NYC safe housing for trans & non-binary individuals, offers a wide array of programs.

Safe to Be You! - Free legal aid in New Mexico for LGBTQIA+ survivors of violence.

Northwest Network - National LGBTQ+ domestic violence support network. Call at 206-568-7777

The Network/LA Red - 24 hour free hotline provides confidential emotional support, safety planning, and crisis prevention for LGBTQ+ folks, as well as folks in kink and polyamorous communities who are being abused or have been abused by a partner. Contact at 617-742-4911 (voice) or 800-832-1901 (toll-free)

NYC Anti-Violence Project - Free, bilingual (English/Spanish), 24 hour crisis intervention hotline offering support to LGBTQ+ and HIV affected survivors of any type of violence, as well as to those who love and support survivors, including those who have lost a loved one to violence. Call at 212-714-1141

I’m finally updating this, sorry its taken to long. Had a lot of shit go down in my personal life so yk 🙏

Double Moon; pt. 4

The moon was tomorrow night and Remus felt like he couldn’t move. Sirius had decided he was going to just going to stay with Remus every night for the rest of the month. Peter had snuck down to the kitchen multiple times, when Remus wasn’t physically or mentally able to eat with the others, so he could eat in the dorm. James hexed anyone who so much as questioned him. His friends weren’t mentioning him being slower than usual even though they definitely noticed. His mom had sent him a letter that morning, some encouraging words and such. Her letters always made him feel better, she was thoughtful and always did her best to take care of him. Even though she couldn’t understand what he was going through. As much as he hated full moons they’d always remind him how much he loved his mom and friends.

That night, right before the moon, he couldn’t get out of bed mentally or physically. He couldn’t eat or even bother to drink a pepper up potion. The other marauders shot worried looks between each other before jumping into action. Peter went down to the kitchens and got all of them food, sense they decided they wouldn’t leave his side unless nessecary, even for dinner. Sirius grabbed blankets and pillows and built a fort around his bed, when he got like this he had nightmares and hallucinations of the night he was bit. James went into Remus’s chocolate stash and put it in a pile on his bed.

Remus enjoyed nights when they did this, though he’d prefer to not be in pain. And he’d never admit it to them. It was fun, the four of them could be free to joke about anything they wanted. Remus didn’t eat much, couldn’t bring himself to keep anything down. So he sat there mostly just smelling chocolate, it helped with the nausea, and his friends didn’t really question it.

Normally Remus hated people taking care of him, fussing of him. He didn’t like the idea that his friends felt obligated to take care of him. But right now, the reassurance that they do anyway is nice.

At some point, Sirius had snuggled up next to him on his bed. He had his head on Remus’s should and an arm snaked around his waist. His free hand has become occupied with holding Remus’ as they all talked excitedly. Remus wasn’t able to do much because of how much moving, speaking, or doing anything really, hurt. His friends didn’t mind though, as they made sure he felt included without making him respond. He didn’t know what he did to deserve these fools but he was grateful for it nevertheless.

Remus had assumed dinner was over as he heard talking and groups of students enter the common room. Then the sound of familiar heals scaled the stairs. Oh shit.

“Uh, guys,” Remus eyed the door nervously, “Minnie is coming up to our dorm.”

“What?” James perked up, turning around and facing the door.

“Surely she’ll understand, right?” Peter squeaked, anxiety filling his pale features.

There was a knock on the door and a moment later, their head of house was standing there taking in the scene.

“Good evening boys,” Professor McGonagall nodded, “would you like to explain to me why none of you showed up to dinner?”

“Um,” James, and the other two for that matter, looked over at Remus, asking permission to share. Remus gave him nod, unable to explain it himself. “Remus here wasn’t feeling well so we decided to just stay here!”

McGonagall’s expression softened, only slightly, no one who didn’t speak her language would’ve noticed. She looked between all four boys. First at Remus, enveloped in blankets in pillows from the fort his friends made him. He looked paler than usual and clearly unwell, then she looked to his right. Sirius was still holding Remus, though his head was no longer rested on the boy’s shoulder. They all noticed the way her lips quirked up for a split second at the sight of the two boys cuddling. She then looked at Peter, surrounded by small snacks and sweets. Last she looked at James, sitting close to Remus but not exactly touching him, he had been putting some lights around the little fort when she walked into the room.

McGonagall sighed, hint of fondness, and smiled kindly, “Okay, Do you need anything from Poppy, Mr. Lupin?”

Remus shook his head.

McGonagall hummed before giving an answer, “You four aren’t in trouble, just send someone to let me know next time.”

James nodded and then the professor was gone.

“I think she has a favorite,” James commented, smirking as he continued putting up lights.

“And here I was thinking she was in love with me!” Sirius removed his hand from Remus’s waist to put it over his heart, shaking his head dramatically. Remus huffed out a laugh as Peter spoke, “It’s obvious she likes Remus better, he’s fooled everyone into thinking he’s dragged into the mischief!”

“It’s because he’s so pretty,” Sirius answered, “he charms them into thinking he’s innocent.” Remus rolled his eyes at his friend while the other two joined in on their theories.

The rest of the night was full of light jabs and jokes until they had finally decided to call it a night. Remus didn’t want the lights to turn off, he didn’t want to lose the comfort of his friends. He knew he’d have nightmares and really didn’t want to wake up to the silent darkness. He was scared of seeing-

“Snuggle in boys!” Sirius said, pulling Remus from his thoughts. James moved to the empty side beside Remus, throwing an arm around his middle. Peter smirked and jumped on top on James, “oof- Pete!” He chastised fondly. The other two marauders laughed, leaning into each other as James pushed his blond friend off of him playfully.

“I’m glad you two find my pain amusing,” James quipped dramatically, smacking Sirius and he moved his arm back around Remus. Peter moved closer to James, laying his head on the messy-haired boy’s back soundly.

“I get why you two cuddle so much, this is nice.” Peter pointed out, once they’d all calmed down, causing Remus and Sirius to blush.

“Yeah, maybe wormy and I will cuddle when you guys do,” James declared, then added, “or maybe we’ll just crawl into the bed with you two.”

“Hey! No! My Moony!” Sirius countered, furrowing his brows in a pout. “Your Moony privileges are only when he’s like this.”

“I don’t think there’s enough room in my bed for all of us anyways,” Remus added thoughtfully, he secretly liked it when it was only him and Sirius too.

“Ugh fine,” James pouted, grabbing his wand from where it laid next to Peter. He whispered a spell and the light in the room disappeared.

All the lights went out except the ones James had been putting up earlier. They were star shaped and glowed in a soft yellow hue. You could see their entire dorm illuminated by the lights. It was beautiful and comforting, Remus never liked the dark all that much.

“Goodnight, lads” James yawned, placing his wand away and moving his arm back to cuddle Remus’s middle.

Remus slept well that night.

Drawing Pandora is so fun to me. She’s so fair core and like totally etheral. I think she was so damn stunning that if she wasn’t considered so “weird” she’d have been one of the most sought after people. Like they are always doing something fun with their outfits and hair and makeup. Like my image of them is toally etheral fairy core and i cannot be told i’m wrong.
