hello! I started writing something short for day one (a poem :D) but quickly realized that it is so vaguely related to Jason that idk if it counts 😭 I’m using the “you can’t kill something that’s already dead” line, and it’s a short 4ish stanza poem that is centered around resilience and references things like Jason digging out of his own grave

all that to say, does it still count as being a JT week thing even thought it never directly mentions him?

Jason Todd Week Summer 2025 will run July 28th – August 3rd, 2025!

There will be two aspects to this event:

The main part is the prompt challenges. You can use one, two, or three of a day's prompts—it's up to you! If you don't like any of the given prompts for a day, you can substitute one of the Alternate Prompts. In general, you can interpret each prompt however loosely you want, and for quote prompts, you definitely don't have to use the exact quote. If you want make something for Jason Todd Week that doesn't fit any of the prompts, don't panic! You can use the "FREE PROMPT" on the final day to post any Jason Todd work you want. Each prompt also has a song corresponding to it in the playlist. There is also a playlist guide so that you can know what songs there are if you don't use Spotify.

The secondary aspect is another opportunity to participate if you don't feel comfortable creating art, writing, or other media. Each day of the week, there will be a be an open-ended question about your opinions/ideas related to Jason Todd that you can respond to. For example, "What is your favorite Jason Todd headcanon?"

If you post on Tumblr, you can use the tag #jtwsummer2025 or @ this blog (@jason-todd-week). There's also an AO3 collection (Jason_Todd_Week_Summer_2025).

hi hi!! i have an idea that could fit for one of the days of this week, but... while jason is a very important character to the story i'm envisioning, he wouldn't really Be a character for a long while of it? this particular idea is Very long, and for a large part of it Jason exists mostly, like, haunting the narrative? I don't wanna explain too much not to spoil it, but the basics is that everyone's forgotten him due to Reasons and the POV character is trying his best to find out more about him and what happened. we would eventually get to see their memories together after a long while of deductions and estimations and wondering, and Jason would only actually show up as a "at-the-present" character for like, the final scene? or maybe it + a quick little epilogue?

anyway, question is: would that qualify for the week or nope, not really?

I think that would count! The story is, in a way, about Jason, and he's an important character. (In general, I'll trust a writer/artist's judgement on something like this, so if you want it to count, it counts!)

do you have a guidelines page? what ships are and are not allowed? is there a collection on ao3 for writing or is this solely a tumblr thing?

Here are the rules from last time the event ran (this January).

The rule on shipping, based on similar events I’ve seen (like Dick Grayson Week and Whumptober) is that there is no list of allowed and disallowed ships, but you are absolutely required to tag any ships in the works you post.

There will be a collection on AO3, so you don’t have to post to Tumblr (although you are welcome to if you want).

is this a writing-only week or can we use the prompts for art too?

Art is absolutely allowed/encouraged! This is an any media type event, which includes writing, art, gifsets, meta, recc lists, moldboards, etc.!

(I am personally a fic writer, so my language often trends in that direction. So I'm sorry if I said anything that made it seem like a fic-only event; I do tend to accidentally do that. But the intention is that fics are only one of many media types you can use.)

Addressing some questions from the prompt voting form and suggestion form:

Any chance there would be a Jayroy in there? Or a fic about Jason going on a space mission with the outlaws?

You are welcome to write that fic! It is against this event’s policy to require any specific ship with its prompts, but shipping is absolutely allowed! Last time this event ran, we did have a JayRoy fic!

Jason going on a space mission with the outlaws is bordering on a highly specific scenario, which I’m generally trying to avoid, but I’ll consider having that or their spaceship as a prompt!

Could the quotes be changed to "them" instead of "him"?

Yeah, that’s a good idea! Generally the “him”s came from how the quotes were written on the suggestion form, but I’ll make them more general.

Also, free to interpret/modify quote prompts—so if it says “them” you can replace with another pronoun, or just write around the general sentiment of the quote without using it as dialogue.

All the lyric quotes are hella angsty. You guys might want to mix it up a bit.

All the lyric suggestions were angsty, and this form only included suggestions, without my own ideas. But beyond the voting, I’ll try to include plenty of non-angsty prompts in the final 24 prompts!

Can we submit fics for the Week after the calendar week is up? For instance, two days later?

Absolutely! If you @ this blog even several months later, I will try to reblog it. Even if I don’t see it, you’re still welcome to post to the collection, which will remain open.

Could you do a Jayroy thing(if you ship it)

I’m not really sure what this is asking… Prompts aren’t requiring a specific ship, so there will be no specific JayRoy prompts. But if this means “can one do a JayRoy thing for this event” the answer is yes, ships (including Jayroy) are allowed. If this is asking if I can do a prompt aimed specifically to fit well with JayRoy (like “Arrows” or something) I’m considering it! If this is asking if I can run a separate JayRoy event…I don’t think I’m equipped to run that, unfortunately. If you’re asking something else, you can message me and I’ll do my best to answer!
