He's decrepit and ancient and washed up just like his views and morals and values. He's outdated. It's not about politics. Everyone deserves to have the right to do what they want with their own body if it's not hurting them or others, you can love who you want if it doesn't hurt yourself or others, you can be who you are if it doesn't hurt yourself and others. I know the vocal majority hates you, they hate what you stand for and who you love and that you have the choice to do so. They will never take away your soul. No law can. Trump, Elon, MAGA, Transphobes, Racists, Homophobes. They'll fail. Even if the good guys don't always win the battle... Love will win the war. Remember that. Find a safe place. Call a hotline. LF Multi-Para Roleplay Partners!

I havent ever really used tumblr but I've been roleplaying for around 10 years now maybe more actually and I want partners ;-; I'm 3rd person, write 3-5 paras per character per reply and into a lot of fandoms. I love writing OCs in Fandom worlds and doing non-canon OC plots. But some Fandoms I do enjoy CC. Romance, Dark vibes, sci fi, fantasy, mystery, etc. I started out on facebook as Shadow the Hedgehog using one liner script style and I've come a long way since then lol Fandoms I enjoy include: Sonic, Batman, Doctor Who, My Hero Academia, Disney but I have a v specific idea for it, kinda like Once Upon a Time/Dreamlight vibes but darker and more mystery inspired, Gravity Falls, Fairy Tail, Spyro, Zelda, Marvel, Pokemon, Digimon, Maybe Horizon Zero Dawn, and more I'm forgetting. I usually play male mains tho can do female sides. I prefer to Rp against female characters and love romance! Tho I do have some queer characters, I just am not queer myself so I tend to gravitate to cishet pairings. Anyway! I saw a post here recently that was basically saying that villain characters if they're too evil aren't good characters and that the people who conceptualized and conceived and wrote dialogue for these characters are bad and vile people themselves for it. I'd just like to say that newsflash: If you find a villain repulsive, vile, evil, irredeemable, gutwrenching, etc. That means it's a good character. It means theyre written well. And it just means you have a preference for certain media and characters in media.

I am a writer. I have been a writer for over ten years. I have deplorable characters. i remember writing a torture scene where my character was trying to get information from another shitty character. He did horrible things to him and I felt like a monster writing it. But I knew well enough to detach the character from the writer. I knew that it was right for the story and the character.

Let's take a villain like Joker. He started out being more of a comical character, and I'm not going to pretend to know all his publication history but he has gone through a lot of iterations. No one version is the same. But they all share the same persona. They are the Joker (Not you Leto) You can look at them, their actions, their design and you can see that they are the Joker. It's called consistency. Now there are versions that are drastically different from each other while keeping the same aura. The point is Joker is almost always portrayed as a deplorable and irredeemable psychopathic murderer. He rapes, he kills, he tortures, he abuses, mostly at random and indiscriminately, he extracts joy while providing himself plenty. he's horrible. What he does to Babs in Killing Joke and by proxy, Gordon, is fucking terrible. But also the message of that comic is amazing and hopeful. That not everyone has the potential inside them to be a bad person. But Joker believes wholeheartedly that this one bad day is what made him this way, when he was just always on this path to evil.

And that is what makes him a great fucking character.

I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that every version is well-written. But versions such as the iconic (and my personal favorite) Mark Hamill TAS and Arkhamverse Jokers are phenomenal and fun. Ledger is iconic and amazing and psychotic, DiMaggio's Joker in Red Hood is cruel and fun and a breath of fresh air into the character. We love to love characters that we are meant to hate. If the Joker was just a funny goofy lil guy haha lol ecksdee then he wouldn't be compelling. His actions are inexcusable but most people are able to discern reality from fiction and can separate that an evil character and their talented writer are not the same person and do not share the same values. Media illiteracy drives me fucking crazy.

Another villain like Val from Hazbin Hotel. I fucking despise him. He makes me fucking sick. But guess what? That makes him a well-written character. Him hurting Angel is a catalyst for us loving Angel even more and empathizing and sympathizing with him. He is meant to be evil, he is meant to be hated, and by proxy he is meant to be loved as a character concept by how much we hate him. It doesn't make Joel Perez a fucking rapist or abuser, certainly not the writers either. If you can't separate the writer from the character then media isn't for you.

Now I understand people have triggers and limits and that's FINE. If you need to avoid certain media that's totally okay! But I don't think that you should try to censor or ruin it for others or imply that the people who indulge and enjoy these characters are bad people themselves

Joker is my favorite character in all media and I stand by him and I stand by my views on this.
