He got up and stepped into the bathroom as silently as he could and got into the shower. His mind kept being torn between fantasies of an ordinary life with her and the brutal reality that loomed outside his front door. She was actively hunted by a criminal organisation - her family, only in name. The steady stream of warm water wasn’t enough to shield him from the cold truth and he bonked his forehead against the wall softly. “Damn it all,” he sighed with a frown. He didn’t realise he hadn’t closed the door behind him so it startled him a little when a faint shadow moved outside the shower curtain and a drowsy voice spoke up.
“I put the coffee on,” Yuuna mumbled as she leaned back against the sink, rubbing her eyes against the light and forcing her hair out of her face.
He stared at the vague silhouette on the other side of the curtain and he let his head fall back. The magic of these last free moments with her started to feel so fragile. Like this faint, shimmering shield surrounding them would shatter as soon as they set foot outside. His mind whirled in an attempt to figure out a way to solve the issues at hand. It was infuriating.

“Let’s face it though, Draken wouldn’t be able to deal with coming home to a house where Emma isn’t there to greet him,” Yuuna added with a grin but she felt her chest tighten a little bit as she spoke. She didn’t look up at him.
Baji sighed and pulled his hair out of the ponytail. “And the other way around. She really enjoys doting on him,” he said. He looked at the veil of cheerfulness on her face. He noticed Chifuyu’s belongings weren’t there anymore and Mitsuya would probably be working until early in the morning. She would be alone for the first time in a while right after meeting Emma like this. He opened his mouth to say something in an attempt to take her mind off it a little but before he could she turned to face him a little better.
“I’m sorry I’m a couple days late but I was ordered to stay in bed,” she joked, pulling a small gift box from under her pillow. “I asked Kazutora to pick it up for me,” she continued as she tidied the small ribbon on it before looking up. “Happy birthday, Keisuke,” she said with a smile that only barely managed to reach her eyes.
Baji looked at the gift a little astonished. It was a small box, not bigger than the palm of his hand, neatly wrapped in a beautiful deep, purple paper with a shimmering red and gold string tied into a small bow keeping it shut. “Why-,” he muttered.
“Did I get it wrong?” She asked with a chuckle.
He shook his head at a loss for words as he pulled the string and opened the box. Of course she didn’t. It was a dog tag, tied onto a slim leather band. Punched into it were a string of dates. He pulled it out to get a closer look. “These dates…” He said softly, recognising the first one instantly; november 3rd, 1990. The day he was born.
Yuuna smiled. “The day you were born, the day you died…” she summed up as she leaned forward. She pointed at the bottom one. “The date of the last leap. The date you came back to us,” She said sincerely. “You don’t have to wear it if it’s too much. I understand you’d maybe not want to be reminded of something like that all the time. It doubles as a bracelet and a necklace and the tag is made from titanium so it won’t oxidise or rust over time,” she babbled as she fiddled with the cord to her sweatpants a little nervously.
Baji watched her fingers twirl the cord as he processed her words and his eyes shot up at her when he realised it must have been quite expensive to have this made. “You idiot,” he chuckled and he pulled her forehead against his. “You shouldn’t have, this is way too expensive for someone like me,” he said, glancing down at the well considered piece of jewellery.

Kazutora blew some strands of floaty hair out of his face and grinned at Yuuna. “Hair up or down?” He asked cheerfullly as he sat down beside her in front of the mirror of the wardrobe.
“You are such a menace,” Yuuna chuckled as she shook her head. “Come here,” she whispered as she scooted back a little so he could sit in front of her.
He plopped down like a pup eager for a treat after just learning how to sit on command. But his cheekiness melted when her fingers brushed through his hair, pulling it back out of his face and undoing some small tangles. “I always loved your hair up,” Yuuna said, glancing at him over his shoulder.
“Always?” He asked softly.
She nodded. “Ever since you started growing it out,” she answered as she pulled half of his hair up in a messy bun.
He lowered his eyes. “Even when it turned white?” He asked in a voice a little more fragile than he’d like.
“Always,” she said unwaveringly, leaning her chin on his shoulder now as she looked at his reflection; suddenly a little insecure and vulnerable.

Things were brewing and he had been able to catch a lot of faces in the process. The police were so rattled by how easy it was for him to find these mercenaries they were starting to ask questions. “I just have the best bait,” he whistled softly in his typical amused tone.
He shifted his lense back to the cafe and snapped some more frames. Yuuna talking to someone that looked like a manager; Yuuna ordering a coffee; Yuuna taking the coffee from the clerk; Yuuna stepping out and savouring her drink on the bench outside the cafe, glancing at a card she’d just taken from said manager... He could string the past few weeks of her life together so accurately it would probably even unsettle Kisaki. But the real target wasn’t the girl. He scooted sideways a little again, aiming his camera into the shadows and he grit his teeth when he noticed the café clerk had stepped out into the alley. He held his breath and for a moment the sound of continuous shutter clicks filled the air. Money was exchanged and a quick call was made. “What the hell?” He gasped and he quickly pointed his camera back at Yuuna. She had gotten up but as she did she staggered a little, barely holding on to her coffee as she tried to walk back home. “Fuck,” he hissed and he could feel his heartrate ramp up when he noticed movements in the darkness next to the shop.

He stared at her, still hardly able to grasp the memories she was telling him about. Memories of strangers, it seemed. Memories that had literally been erased from time. Of a past that happened way ahead of where they were standing in time now. It was so incredibly difficult to really wrap your head around. Yet, this one thing he didn’t find hard to believe at all as he looked into her warm, amber eyes. “You were mine somewhere in time,” he whispered as he leaned in close.
“Only yours,” she nodded.
He sighed, rubbing her tears away with his thumbs. “I can live with that,” he said, gently leaning his forehead against hers. “God… I wish I remembered something at least…” he groaned.

Mitsuya ruffled the towel through his hair as he walked back into the appartement. He couldn’t help but smile when he noticed Yuuna tending to the flowers they had arranged together a couple of days earlier and he stepped up next to her. “Are they done?” He asked carefully as he looked at the bouquet, some parts clearly showing signs of wilting.
Yuuna smiled lovingly as she pulled the bouquet apart. “Some are, but others will be fine for a little longer,” she said softly while she sifted through them and skillfully cut the stems to refresh the arrangement. The last flowers from the flower store. She felt grateful she had been able to drop them off at home before… She swallowed.
Mitsuya noticed her movements stutter and he gently reached for her chin. “Let me have a look at your eye,” he whispered as he beckoned her to look at him. He brushed her curls out of her face and inspected the scab on her eyebrow a little closer. The bruising around her eye was slowly starting to fade from a dark purple to a yellowish-green and the lighter scrapes in her face had already healed, leaving faint red marks in their wake. He noticed how she avoided his gaze and let his eyes wander down her neck. The bruising around her throat had gotten darker with almost every hour that night and it was only barely lifting, unlike the ones in her face. Ever so gently he trailed his fingers down into her neck and noticed how she resisted a flinch.

I know there are a lot of headcanons describing Chifuyu as a a flustered, oversensitive baby-virgin when it comes to romance and sex 😅 (Coming in his pants as soon as you touch him, kind of thing)
But in my mind he has always been more like Kikuchi Touma from Ao Haru Ride. He blushes easily but he can own up to that and stick to his guns regardless. With a cute and honest confidence, pursuing what and who he wants.
I really like that in both these guys 😊

Yuuna glanced at the bouquets at her feet. She had spent hours binding them, savouring their smell and how they slowly turned her fingertips green. Despite the sadness of closing down the shop there was something so soothing in working with flowers and plants. Most of the growing plants had been sold and the rest was gifted to Mana, Luna and whoever of their friends wanted any. She looked around the store, the bottom of her apron clenched in her fists involuntarily now that the work was finally done. In contrast to the beautiful bundles of colours and textures, the empty shelves and buckets felt unnerving and she couldn’t help but swallow as she let her eyes wander onto the cemetery gate across the street. This store, dancing with their spirits… It had been all she had ever known for the longest of times. And every time, this had been the only place where she could return to him safely. In blessed ignorance he would come in for flowers, without fault. Even now Baji Keisuke lived, he found her here. She stared at the coin around her wrist. Everything was different now. She clasped her hand in front of her chest, her thumb rubbing across the prayer coin on her bracelet, leaning against the counter as she let reality sink in. She wasn’t going to be able to return here like she used to. No longer would she be able to hide behind the array of colours and meanings of the flowers she had come to cherish so much over the years.  ---

And as she looked at him all versions she had known of him flashed before her eyes. Her heart shattered as her mind landed on the time that almost ended in his suicide. For a moment his sunken, dull eyes looked at her from a face as pale as a ghost with sheet white hair framing his bony cheeks. But then it was gone and as the pain of that memory still lingered in her chest he was looking at her again from the present. His cheeks full, his eyes bright and his beautiful blonde hair framing his face as a small section was pulled back into the typical ponytail she came to love so much from afar. She couldn’t hold back the surge of longing that flooded her chest and she pressed her hands against her mouth to smother her sobs as she looked at him in all his glory.
He smiled at her and softly wiped the tears that started to roll down her cheeks with his thumbs as he took her face into his hands. “Thank you for watching over me all these years, Yuuna,” he said softly, catching her as she sank to her knees. “I’m sorry I forced us on you like this,” he said, sincerely apologetic. “But I couldn’t let it go. I couldn’t let you go. Not again…” He whispered into her hair as he wrapped his arms around her. And he smiled gently as she clasped his coat, sobbing into his chest. “I can finally hold you…” he whispered softly.

Whenever I write the Baji & Kazutora dynamic they remind me of the Weasley Twins. They are so forking boisterous and cheeky, hahahaha. I have a lot of fun with them (poor Chifuyu)
