📆👉🏽 📸 Save the date! Last year I took 2nd place in my decision with “Lucky Corn” and sold it that day! Truly blessed. Lesson I learned that day, stick with your authentic style. I didn’t think I would win honestly because of my style but the feedback was everyone loved how I incorporated bingo cards into the painting. It gave them a nostalgic vibe. The term MMIW is an epidemic across the USA and Canada. To break it down further, the term MMIWG2S is a movement that advocates for the end of violence against Missing and Murdered Indigenous women, girls, trans women, and two-spirits. * My goal was to create an image that would shed awareness and attention to the high rates of disappearances and murders not covered by mainstream media or outside the borders of Indigenous communities. * I designed this digital portrait of “Her” to address the issues of Indigenous, Native American, and Native Hawaiian MMIWG2S who also are being assaulted and trafficked with no repercussions on the assaulters.
