This is definitely one of my favourite things I’ve made this year, I love this guy. Combining medieval fantasy with modern-day New York would make for some really fun worldbuilding. I don’t know that I’d trust a hot dog vendor with a rat that close to the food though, familiar or not.

This pun is absolutely awful. But, for what it’s worth, I think I handled designing this thing as something cat-adjacent pretty alright. If you gave him pets he’d probably be pretty slimy but he’d probably like it fine. Don’t ask me what you’d feed a pet like this though.

Trying to get any work done with creatures casually spilling out of your inkwell is probably really taxing. Is that what Bendy and the Ink Machine was about? Aside from dripping everywhere I’m sure this guy would leave you alone if you fed him some banana or something.

The closest I’ve ever been to a county fair was the Calgary Stampede eons ago, and though I’m sure it was close I don’t think it got nearly as extreme in its food as I see coming out of America. Are the hood of a cobra and the tail of a rattlesnake even parts of the animal you’d want to eat?

Seems like every few months or so I end up making a take on “live, laugh, love” signs. This one looks like a decal you’d find in some sketchy spaghetti joint. One that your weird aunt insists on going to because she thinks Olive Garden is “too ethnic”.

I’ve been sitting on this one for about a year now. I missed my release window to coincide with Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Shrimp Week 2024, and it seems like they might not be doing it this year unfortunately. Just to avoid sitting on it for longer, I decided to throw it up now!

So here’s a little goblin in the style of Super Auto Pets! It’s a cute style, and I loved incorporating the cut end into a little skull head. Truthfully I don’t know enough about the game to know if his stats would be any good or not.

I feel like when I was initially asked to come up for a design for “Ketchup Dave”, they were visualizing something VERY different. I guess getting subjected to The Horrors every day lately had an impact on my art direction.

I wanted to take a stab at a design inspired by 80s slasher poster, specifically those extreme-lit Italian ones. It’s tough to translate into 2D, but I think I managed alright!

This joke was really funny until I realized I’d have to draw a gun. Then it got REALLY unfunny when I realized I’d have to crack the top open to match the window real ones have.

I can’t imagine this would be that practical; shooting arts and crafts projects point-blank probably wouldn’t do much help.

I’d like to think that these are tiny men tying up normal-sized roaches, but a post-apocalyptic Fallout-like scenario is a valid interpretation.

Some of this past month was dedicated to watching the Dollars Trilogy with friends, so I got particularly inspired to do something very Western-y. Cowboy pest control sounded like it fit the bill! Wearing yeehaw clothes over top of gear like that feels like it would be a nightmare for overheating.

Sometimes you just need to take every dinokid’s lunchbox dream and draw just an absolute foodfight mess out of it.

I got really nostalgic for this really specific time in the middle of my preschool dinosaur kid phase where I looked through the pictures in this series of Canadian Jurassic Park books from the early 90s. I remembered between all the pictures of the scary looking dinosaurs they had cutesy little crafts or “recipes”, and thought I wanted to make them back then.

Looking at these recipes as an adult, I am appalled that they genuinely wanted kids to shove an entire banana into a glass of chocolate milk as a “treat”, that is absolutely vile. It inspired this disaster though!

I don’t think I like this version of Frosty. A bunch of kids hang out in a trash dump, scrape together a stack of TVs, and when they place the magic hat upon his head he comes to life. But instead of coming to life it just screeches static at them without being plugged in. Horrible, happy holidays!

After some consideration, I’m going to be moving back to bi-weekly posts for a while! There’s some bigger projects I’d like to start this year and the larger gaps between regular posts will allow for more time to work on them.

I can’t decide if this is an on-duty, or a retired Santa. Being the captain of a yacht just has such a strong association with retirement, but at the same time the idea of him hard pivoting to ocean-themed gifts is equally great.

I took this chance to experiment with more toon shading! Like always it probably isn’t something I’ll always stick with but I think the extra shading and highlight layers do add a lot to this one. I think it feels pretty festive and cozy.
