When others ask what kind of person you are, “hardworking”, “confident”, and “sporty” are all recurring words used to describe you. However “stubborn” is an adjective many people seem to forget or are unaware of at least. 

“You’re way too stubborn”, as Isagi reminds you constantly which of course, you always end up shaking it off. Today is a reminder that maybe Isagi is right. 

Too stubborn, ignoring the warnings your friends sent on the group chat last night. Too stubborn, ignoring the “get home early today yn!”s from your classmates. Too stubborn, ignoring the weather warning messages on your phone. 

Too stubborn to admit you made a lapse in your judgment today. 

You deeply sigh as the strong smell of the wet pavement starts to fill your nose and your vision was nothing but pouring rain and muddy grounds. As the entrance of the school was the only thing protecting you from being drenched, you pull out your phone from your pocket. 

7:08pm. Slightly regretting not listening to your classmates, but hey at least you got some paperwork done right? 

You check your bus app and look for the next available bus to take you home, however, the bright red message “THIS BUS ROUTE HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO HEAVY RAIN” is not something you could ignore, even for a stubborn person like you.

Panic starts to rise as you try and brainstorm a safe way to get home, you’re a leader, after all, brainstorming is your specialty.  

Maybe just risk it and walk home? No No, you stupidly forgot your umbrella today out of all days, great. Call a taxi home? but the five dollars and fifty-eight cents in your bank account disagree. But maybe the driver will feel pity for a high school girl stuck in the rain and drive you home anyway? Or maybe you can just put your pride aside and message your friends for help? Just this once.. (you can just deal with the “I told you so!”s and the “Why didn’t you listen to us!?”s later). 

You sigh again and turn your phone off as the lack of response from your friends contributes to the uneasiness feeling in your stomach. You sit down on the cold steps as you watch the harsh rain splatter on the pavement in defeat.

Rain: 1 | You : 0

Not seeing any signs of the weather clearing up anytime soon. As if you weren't already bad enough, the RAIN is also stubborn?

And what feels like an eternity passes by, a crazy idea pops into your mind. Maybe sitting down on the school steps alone has driven you mad, or the anxiety you feel is making you lose your mind, or the fact that your phone is now on 6% is making you think of crazy, DESPERATE, crazy, and CRAZY ideas. Did I mention crazy?

You hesitantly click on a contact that you have been actively trying to avoid for the past week. You looked at the big “DO NOT ANSWER” at the top of your screen.

How ironic.

You keep typing a message then deleting it, retyping it, then deleting it, around about maybe five times now? Maybe you’re better off texting Otoya for help at this point.

You look at the 4% battery on your phone.

“fuck it.” you quickly press the send button and turn your phone off (fighting the urge to chuck your phone across the steps). Desperate times call for desperate measures, right?

x reader should be (and, generally speaking, often is) the most accepting fanfiction space because its consistently, and almost exclusively an expression or fantasy of being desired or wanted or wanting—or in an even more basic sense, considered. even if you dont explicitly self-insert, even if there’s a an oc thats just you but better or a faceless insert u make - it starts with the same premise. which is wanting to be seen or desired by some extension of who you are. or wanting to fantasize explicitly about a life that isn’t yours, any life but yours. its admitting more openly than other mediums—i want someone to want some part of me. to take interest in me sexually or romantically or platonically. i want this element of myself to be considered or thought of. sometimes that is accomplished through writing, and sometimes that is accomplished through reading and seeking to bits of yourself in other peoples. the other half is having space to want and yearn for something else. how liberating it is to admit that you’d like to be somewhere else.

and it is hardly a flawless medium and im really, really simplifying it but i do think that there is something uniquely enjoyable and freeing about it. i want agency in the stories i love. i want my presence to haunt this fiction like a ghost. i want to be loved, i want to be interesting. i want to experience hundreds of lives that aren’t mine. i want i want i want. this a story of you. this is a story of me.
