i think one of the biggest tragedies of the MPHFPC movie isn't even the peculiarities or ages changing,

IT'S WHAT THEY DID TO JACOB

I am in NO way a big Jacob fan but he was so DRY in the movie

He also had some BEAUTIFUL quotes in the books that were nowhere in that mess of an adaptation

I also hate Abe, and for quiet a few reasons too. I could go on all day, but only put two to make my point.

Like, he's mentioned to be a humble person, and if it weren't for him, the books wouldn't have happened. But, like, he dies in the first chapters of the book (one or two, if memory serves right). So we don't actually get to see his character, just what other people say about him.

He was born around the 1920/30s, so he was surrounded by homophobia, probably making him also homophobic. Horace, being gay, probably made Abe hate him despite being an 'honorable man'. The fact that I can see Abe bullying Horace for being gay can make a third point.

wait I never even THOUGHT of the Horace claim but you’re so right?? Horace is one of my favorites, so it looks like another thing is going on my “why I hate Abe” list…

No I totally get it! Noor can seem like a poor written character because of how quickly she came to be and just how massive her character ark was. But I feel like the “self-pitying” is just years of being beaten down by neglectful foster parents fresh in her mind. I also think she was just so eager to help because as she expressed, she was really just a check to her “family”.

But then again, I’m forever a Noor Pradesh apologist so maybe I’m giving a biased opinion :)

I headcanon that Miss Peregrine just like KNEW that Horace was gay LONGGG before we ever meet Jacob.

(I also think Horace did officially come out to her specifically, and I think it went something like this)

one of my biggest icks about the movie is not even the switching of peculiar abilities, but the PURE mischaracterization of Emma and her switched ability.

Like since when does air “do what she wants”?? Like what? Olive (and movie Emma) should do what AIR wants, (as she can’t control how she floats without her lead shoes). Like the whole thing could’ve been avoidable, if they stuck with the lightfish part, because that would even been more cute than a completely made up moment and ability.

Then how she ACTS. Emma is NOT a damsel in distress, if you mess with her YOU are in distress..! She is not a trusting and sweet-natured girl up front. I mean for the love of birds she was threatening to kill Jacob when she thought he was a wight.

Then Olive’s peculiar ability. In the books Emma can very well control her fire ability, which Olive CANNOT do, as she constantly has to wear those fugly gloves.

one of my favorite things about this fandom is all the ships and headcanons. It’s like nobody is going to agree and ship the EXACT same things as someone else.

EXCEPT, when it comes to queer Miss Peregrine. Like there is not one person i know in this fandom who doesn’t ship her with Isabel, and think her some sort of queer.

And I find that funny, because we all just looked at the most, proper, elegant, and VICTORIAN character and just thought;

“Homo.”

And that is why I love this fandom
