hot artists don't gatekeep
I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard
Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.
Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.
Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.
Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.
SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.
SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.
Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.
Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.
Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.
Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.
Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

With the new TLoU episode I have had the pleasure of seeing many people complain about the story again.
And it once again highlights how many people are incapable of accepting that media doesn‘t always exist to make you comfortable and for you to have a fun time.
Like some of those people literally sound like "nooooo don‘t make my show have shocking disturbing story beats! I want to watch this show about complex and heartbreaking interpersonal relationships and disturbing, violent cycles and not see my fav characters get hurt!"
Media and art don‘t owe you comfort. So much good art is about challenging the consumer.
You are absolutely allowed to dislike a piece of media. But respect the fact that artists are allowed to make art the way they want to and that they don‘t owe you comfort, and that you aren‘t a better person for not 'enjoying' seeing characters suffer.
That is also an aspect of the discussion around purity culture and policing of 'taboo' themes in popular media but this isn‘t a well thought out post, just ranting so I won‘t go into that.

My usual response to GA: Seeing Red and the way people talk about Jason's actions is something along the line of "You're right, no matter the actual reason he did it, whether or not he had a point, he shouldn't have kidnapped Mia, that wasn't very nice of him. He gave everyone a good scare and caused collateral property damage, which was villainous of him (which makes sense, considering that in this era he is a villain). He could have sent her an email."
But now that I think about it wouldn't it have been extremely funny if he had just sent her an email. Imagine Mia opening her computer to write an essay on Mrs Bovary so she's already feeling terrible and she gets an email which says:
"Mia. I know who you are. I'm a lot like you. You don't want to disappoint your mentor but I had a mentor like that once, people who grew up in their mansions like them, they don't understand that sometimes it's necessary to do bad things to survive. I know you were forced into prostitution by your father and later ended up in the streets, had to turn to prostitution to survive, and eventually tested positive to hiv. I'm a lot like you. You need to start killing people. Sincerely, the Red Hood."
Like, honestly. How would the story go. Where do you even go from there. I'm sorry this is way too funny like can you imagine.
Green Arrow: Seeing Red. Plot: Mia gets an email.

Omg I understand now😅
I‘m happy you agree, looked at your blog a bit more and you‘re really cool. I, sadly, do not have the time and brainpower (disability goes weeeeeee) to engage with the fandom and canon as deeply as you do, and just pick and choose comics I enjoy to read based on artwork and not looking to deeply into them. That‘s my own personal canon, add in my headcanons and that‘s pretty much the extent of my DC knowledge.
I think it‘s so important to seperate fandom and the actual content, and that all ways (apart from the no brainers like random toxicity, racism, homophobia, ableism etc) to engage and enjoy fandom are valid.
To recognise that headcanon doesn‘t have to even be an interpretation of canon, but just a loose connection to characters and concepts a person enjoys. (Best example: Bruce being a good dad. Is he in the comics? Fuck no. In my head and my silly little fics and fanart? Yes he is.)
I‘m rambling ahhhhhh anyways thank you very much for all your insights <33

Hey :)
OP of this post here, I wanted to ask what exactly pisses you off in my post? This isn‘t in bad faith or an attack or negative at all, your blog seems cool and I wanted to know bcs I‘m genuinely interested.
Have a great day/night and ignore me if you have better things to do haha <33
(omg how do you word this without seeming passive agressive I hate my non existent social competence)
Hi there, no no no there has been a terrible confusion <3 by "in here" i meant "tumblr/ao3/fandom in general", not your post, I was agreeing with you!
Aka some of the takes in this fandom piss me off so bad... But again, I can just block the ao3/tumblr user, make a vent post, try to analyse/explain why a stereotype I've seen going around is harmful if I feel like people just aren't aware of it. I can ignore the fanon content I don't like and it's much healthier for me to do so, but that kind of philosophy doesn't apply so much to canon (i mean i still cherry-pick as much as i can but it's limited.) I just meant to emphasize that canon writers have a responsibility, and it's not the fans' fault that some of them aren't doing the literal minimum to write the characters correctly and not perpetuate harmful views and stereotypes, and also that we should all throw rotten eggs at tom king. Anyway, all that to say, sorry for the misunderstanding!
