In "Untitled", Prentice dives deep into Foggy's thoughts one night not too long after the events of Nelson v. Murdock. He's tired, he's still reckoning with all the changes this has imposed on his world, and above all he is out of fucks to give (or at least out of common sense). In near stream-of-consciousness, we follow Foggy as he indulges himself alone in the office, the knowledge that Matt will inevitably find out not enough to deter him. A POV character is something we, as readers, often take for granted. It's easy to assume that it's the protagonist, and if it's the protagonist they're the one things are happening to: simple. Maybe not so simple. In Katbelle's "a day like any other", this choice is deliberate. The fic challenges our expectations in the best way as it presents to us an evolving puzzle as we follow Matt through his day. And then the next. And then the next. Well-placed clues allow us to build up some idea of what's happening long before Matt is able to, and when he finally catches up to us, the results are devastating. For those who enjoy an unconventional take on a tried-and-true trope or are otherwise in the mood for an emotional walloping.

MattFoggy Fic Rec: HILF (Hero I’d Like To Fuck) by Anonymous
