The discussion on the post about my Hope & Josie in Malivore Alternate S2 idea got into fics we’ve seen/read that spend some time on the trauma of being in Malivore.

I mentioned one fic I vaguely remembered where Hope’s finally spit out of Malivore after a bad time and ends up in a not-quite-darkest-timeline world where she was working as a waitress in a crappy diner and living in a run-down motel, or something along those lines…which I found today:

Summary:

The problem with his plan (besides the obvious, which is that he has absolutely no intention of following through) is that he didn't account for the possibility that Stede would show up without anyone having to find him, red-faced and furious and bursting with love, over the side of his boat, looking all windswept and gorgeous, and challenge him to a duel. Because that would be absolutely mental. And that's what happens, because of course, Ed's forgotten who he's dealing with. Ed's tired and Stede's determined. They work it out.

Comments:

This on is definitely a favorite! I love how thoroughly the author explored Ed’s perspective and gave validity (or at least justification) to his emotions and actions. I also love Stede being Stede here; he is blunt and selfish and brash, but also so very sorry. He puts so much effort into winning Ed back (I’m a sucker for a grand gesture). Also, Izzy is well-written in the brief appearances he makes. Overall, an exceptional storyline and a fun read!

Jayce's protectiveness and need to be with Viktor after realising Viktor is dying is special to me but also makes me want to scream.

Prior to the hospital scene it's the "Are you sure this is safe?" "Of course not" and while Jayce does look concerned he leaves the lab. (He had that meeting with Mel but still)

After the hospital he immediately becomes slightly more protective and stays even if it's dangerous, the scene with the bomb. When Viktor triggers it Jayce panics but he doesn't leave Viktor even though they could've both blown up/been hurt.

Then when the hexcore destroys the plants Jayce instantly moves in front of Viktor. Another instant of this protectiveness is when Heimerdinger says he's shutting it down after seeing the plant + hexcore and Jayce says "No I won't let you" and "Professor this could save Viktor's life" which is what triggers Jayce into taking Heimerdinger off the council. While he does bring up other points to it in the meeting itself the main motivation was this scene with Viktor.

Then finally the whole "Promise me" scene Jayce did not want to make that promise, we visibly see him hesitate to make it and only accepting because of how important it was to Viktor. Unfortunately for Viktor in the opening of s2 we see Jayce's love and want for Viktor to live was more important as he breaks it to save him.

Silco SO should've haunted the narrative in s2 I can't stress this enough. Like, we knew Vander, Mylo and Claggor only for 3 episodes, but their presence was felt aaaall throughout s1. And now you're telling me that a PRIMARY ANTAGONIST of s1, a leader of Zaun, Jinx's dad and The person who started the negotiations with Piltover for Zaun's independence only got a couple of mentions?? Which aren't even relevant to the plot or character motivations??? Are you LEGIT FOR REAL kidding me???? I still can't believe this happened chat.

He's literally a part of the main cast. He literally was present in every single episode of s1. And again, given just How Much was tied directly to him his death should've had just. Massive consequences. For almost every single character. And yet.
