What it feels like when one of the trauma holders experiences peace for the first time

not knowing who is fronting is a super common plural experience and it's very normal and okay if you struggle to tell who is fronting, or who is nearby. whether you are experiencing dissociation or some other type of barrier, it's okay if it takes you a while to figure out who's nearby. sometimes that's just a built-in function of your system and you have to figure things out piece by piece. it's totally okay

i spend most of my days not knowing who i am or who's fronting or who's nearby. i have very severe derealization/depersonalization as well as being a system, so i understand what it's like to know know who you are. it's okay to experience that, you're not being plural wrong, or anything like that. for some plurals, it comes naturally and easily, for others, we struggle, and both are okay

I always feel so out of place even in system communities. Does anyone else relate at all??

Like, idk some system memes are cool and relatable bc obviously not everything is gonna line up, but so much of it doesn't click with us.

We've almost never been put off by the voices, we all wanna communicate, we don't think less of each other or think 1 deserves more front time than anyone else, etc. Idk, there's so many memes about denial and eating each other's food and all this distress. Which is i know, a major part of many system's lives. Part of what makes a meme is the repeatability and a lot of systemhood IS struggles in that area.

But what about systems who do everything right (in the sense that we have healthy coping and such)? What about systems who unconditionally love each other and dissociative barriers are something we work around instead of fighting? What about the systems who love the voices?

Woop de do, here comes another system analogy cause the car one isn't the best at describing our experience.

Your physical brain and body are the computer.

The mental processes, symptoms, thoughts, memories etc. are the apps and files on that computer. The power that runs the physical.

Some systems have a headmate that forms the OS, for others it's not sentient at all.

You are a user. You and your headmates use this computer and it's functions to play the game of life together.

You have different permissions to things than other users. You can use certain apps better than others, but then you can't open some files cause they're password protected. Your friend over there seems to know all of it but doesn't share.

Some of us are admins, some of us are guests. Some people make the computer overheat, others are perfect to cool it down. Some seem to delete everything. Others spend all their time on MS Paint.

But we all work together to keep the computer in one piece.

Also, the responses that this has gotten so far have really helped because a lot of this was extremely related to our system’s past trauma from being emotionally abused (being given a bullshit definition of system responsibility, being “held accountable” wasn’t to make amends but to be held at fault and shamed/blamed no matter how much you tried to change and get better, and those internalized beliefs affecting my own view of myself through feeling as if I should feel guilty despite trying everything I could to make amends for what I did)

Our account may not be fully SFW, but we never reblog or post explicit material. I have a bad swearing problem, and due to my trauma, I have a hard time telling what is socially acceptable in regards for entirely being SFW. It's something I'm working on, so please be weary! We don't mind agere and petre engagement, just please know my blog is more skewed for mature audiences.
