Rewatching Castle on Hulu. I can’t believe it was legal to have someone this hot on TV.

Been watching this show SurrealEstate on Hulu. I actually like it. It’s pretty refreshing cause it reminds me of an older show. Like this could have aired in 2009-11 no problem.

Jena Malone as Johanna Mason is such a baddie. Too bad she was really only in Catching Fire.

I remembered that post where someone said the 90’s didn’t end until 2004 and after realizing Friends ended in 2004, I realize how accurate it is. I now say May 6, 2004 is the official end date of the 90’s.

Gossip. Pretty silly film but I think about it from time to time. It’s such an early 2000’s film and I’m a nostalgia sucker for that. What a great cast too. I also love the opening scene with Lena Headey getting ready and striding into the hip teen nightclub. Makes me wish we had a film with her playing a noir detective or Batmanesque superhero.

“Birdgirl (Adult Swim, midnight, series premiere): Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law was a madcap celebration of cartoon history, office humor (pre-The Office), and a complex structure of endless callbacks and nonsensical running jokes. Unfortunately, Adult Swim’s new revival/sequel series Birdgirl is only some of those things. Set after the death of Phil Ken Sebben (Stephen Colbert in the original series), the series centers on his daughter, Paget Brewster’s Judy Sebben/Birdgirl, as she tries to juggle her superhero work with her new job running her father’s company. Brewster is still an absolute joy in the title role, but the world around her is a lot less interesting now. Part of that is due to Birdgirl dropping Birdman’s connection to the Hanna-Barbera library, which allowed the series to pack every scene with background gags and references. So far, Birdgirl hasn’t replaced the Hanna-Barbera jokes with anything. It just takes place in an office now, and the people (save for a talking dog and Judy’s friend Meredith The Mindtaker) are just people and not zany supervillains or Funky Phantoms or Peter Potamuses. Birdgirl stands fine on its own and will be more enjoyable if you push Harvey Birdman out of your mind, but… why do that?”-Sam Barsanti.
This blurb from AV Club basically sums up my opinion on Birdgirl. Except I don’t agree it stands on its own. Most of the humor just doesn’t work. I can’t emphasize how bad the supporting characters are. One character is voiced by Tony Hale (Buster Bluth!) and I still don’t care for him at all. Pager Brewster is talented so this always had potential but just hasn’t lived up to it and based on the second season it looks like it never will. Also, I love the first few seasons of Archer but I think they did some irreparable harm to workplace animated comedies. Because every single one since Archer has just tried to rip it off without understanding why early Archer worked. For example, Birdgirl’s secretary is very obviously a copy of Cheryl Tunt. These characters are just so very uninteresting. I beg you creative teams behind these shows, it is not that hard to create unique and interesting characters.

I came up with this idea forever ago but never posted it. The 30 Rock cast if it was genderflipped. Joseph Gordon Levitt as Les Lemon. Constance Zimmer as Jackie Donaghy. Neil Patrick Harris as Jake Maroney. Octavia Spencer as Tracy Jordan. Kristin Chenoweth as Kendra Parcell. I think Octavia Spencer was the easiest to cast cause she basically already played a genderflipped Tracy in an episode.
