Breathing to Heal
Recently, as I’ve been going about my day, I like to stop myself and take a breath. It’s a moment of pause that grounds me in reality, to myself, letting myself experience the moment and to be with my body for a second. I like to take the moment to notice what kind of breath I’m taking— how far does it go? Where is the barrier, and why does it exist?
I discovered I tend to take very shallow breaths throughout my day, only inhaling halfway down my throat before belting out a half-exhale. It sounds very fanfiction-y, but I’ve been holding onto a breath and didn’t realize it. And that built it breath, the exhale I refused to completely let go of, it was building up inside me as tension in different parts of my body.
So, in those moments of the day, when I like to take a pause to breathe, I try to challenge myself to deepen the breath as far as I go. First down the throat. Then to the lungs, feeling it in the expansion of the chest. And then in the gut, feeling my stomach expand as my diaphragm works to fill my lungs to capacity with fresh air.
It’s hard, I’m not going to lie. It’s difficult to try to overcome the innate shallowness of my breaths, to bring it deeper. But every time I do, it's like that breath is coursing through my body, between all the tight spaces of tension I’m holding inside me— whether it's the tension of my stiffened, bunched up shoulders, or my tightened fists, or my clenched jaw; feeling the air weave through and break that tension apart, until they are left as nothing but small pieces that can be carried with the breath. And then comes the most important part:
To exhale.
Completely.
Letting all of that built-up tension, all of the anxieties of the day, everything that makes me feel like life is happening too fast and I’m not really experiencing anything, letting all of it pour out of the body in a deep exhale. And as my lungs empty out, and I feel my stomach contract again, my feet feel firm on the ground, as though I’ve been brought back into the moment.
Breathing (as frustrating as it is to hear that advice all the time) really is such a powerful tool on the journey to healing. With every breath inwards, it's a reminder that I am still alive, and I deserve to be here. And every breath I take reminds me of what an incredible success my body is, to have kept me alive long enough to feel this moment. And things might be hard; I might be stressed or feel discomfort, and life may throw things my way. But I still have my breath. And that breath reminds me that life is still with me, and even if it feels like it’s against me, with every effort I take, I learn to walk alongside it.

24 Invaluable Skills To Learn For Free Online This Year
Here’s an easy resolution: This stuff is all free as long as you have access to a computer, and the skills you learn will be invaluable in your career, and/or life in general.
1. Become awesome at Excel.
Chandoo is one of many gracious Excel experts who wants to share their knowledge with the world. Excel excellence is one of those skills that will improve your chances of getting a good job instantly, and it will continue to prove invaluable over the course of your career. What are you waiting for?
2. Learn how to code.
littleanimalgifs.tumblr.com
Perhaps no other skill you can learn for free online has as much potential to lead to a lucrative career. Want to build a site for your startup? Want to build the next big app? Want to get hired at a place like BuzzFeed? You should learn to code. There are a lot of places that offer free or cheap online coding tutorials, but I recommend Code Academy for their breadth and innovative program. If you want to try a more traditional route, Harvard offers its excellent Introduction to Computer Science course online for free.
3. Make a dynamic website.
You could use a pre-existing template or blogging service, or you could learn Ruby on Rails and probably change your life forever. Here’s an extremely helpful long list of free Ruby learning tools that includes everything from Rails for Zombies to Learn Ruby The Hard Way. Go! Ruby! Some basic programming experience, like one of the courses above, might be helpful (but not necessarily required if you’re patient with yourself).
4. Learn to make a mobile game.
If you’re not interested in coding anything other than fun game apps, you could trythis course from the University of Reading. It promises to teach you how to build a game in Java, even if you don’t have programming experience! If you want to make a truly great game, you might want to read/listen up on Game Theory first.
5. Start reading faster.
Spreeder is a free online program that will improve your reading skill and comprehension no matter how old you are. With enough practice, you could learn to double, triple, or even quadruple the speed at which you read passages currently, which is basically like adding years to your life.
6. Learn a language!
With Duolingo, you can learn Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, or English (from any of the above or more). There’s a mobile app and a website, and the extensive courses are completely free.
Full disclosure: BuzzFeed and other websites are in a partnership with DuoLingo, but they did not pay or ask for this placement.
7. Pickle your own vegetables.
Tired of your farmer’s market haul going bad before you use it all? Or do you just love tangy pickled veggies? You too can pickle like a pro thanks to SkillShare and Travis Grillo.
8. Improve your public speaking skills.
You can take the University of Washington’s Intro to Public Speaking for free online. Once you learn a few tricks of the trade, you’ll be able to go into situations like being asked to present at a company meeting or giving a presentation in class without nearly as much fear and loathing.
9. Get a basic handle of statistics.
UC Berkeley put a stats intro class on iTunes. Once you know how to understand the numbers yourself, you’ll never read a biased “news” article the same way again — 100% of authors of this post agree!
10. Understand basic psychology.
Knowing the basics of psych will bring context to your understanding of yourself, the dynamics of your family and friendships, what’s really going on with your coworkers, and the woes and wonders of society in general. Yale University has its Intro to Psychology lectures online for free.
11. Make your own music.
Step one: Learn how to play guitar: Justin Guitar is a fine and free place to start learning chords and the basic skills you’ll need to be able to play guitar — from there, it’s up to you, but once you know the basics, just looking up tabs for your favorite songs and learning them on your own is how many young guitar players get their start (plus it’s an excellent party trick).
Step two: A delightful free voice lesson from Berklee College Of Music.
Step three: Have you always thought you had an inner TSwift? Berklee College of Music offers an Introduction to Songwriting course completely for free online. The course is six weeks long, and by the end of the lesson you’ll have at least one completed song.
Step four: Lifehacker’s basics of music production will help you put it all together once you have the skills down! You’ll be recording your own music, ready to share with your valentine or the entire world, in no time!
12. Learn to negotiate.
Let Stanford’s Stan Christensen explain how to negotiate in business and your personal life, managing relationships for your personal gain and not letting yourself be steamrolled. There are a lot of football metaphors and it’s great.
13. Stop hating math.
If you struggled with math throughout school and now have trouble applying it in real-world situations when it crops up, try Saylor.org’s Real World Math course. It will reteach you basic math skills as they apply IRL. Very helpful!
14. Start drawing!
All kids draw — so why do we become so afraid of it as adults? Everyone should feel comfortable with a sketchbook and pencil, and sketching is a wonderful way to express your creativity. DrawSpace is a great place to start. (I also highly recommend the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain if you can drop a few dollars for a used copy.)
15. Make your own animated GIF.
BuzzFeed’s own Katie Notopoulos has a great, simple guide to making an animated GIF without Photoshop. This is all you need to be the king or queen of Tumblr or your favorite email chains.
16. Appreciate jazz.
reddit.com
Have you never really “gotten” jazz? If you want to be able to participate in conversations at fancy parties and/or just add some context to your appreciation of all music, try this free online course from UT Austin.
17. Write well.
Macalester College’s lecture series is excellent. If you’re more interested in journalism, try Wikiversity’s course selection.
18. Get better at using Photoshop.
Another invaluable skill that will get you places in your career, learning Photoshop can be as fun as watching the hilarious videos on You Suck At Photoshop or as serious as this extensive Udemy training course (focused on photo retouching).
19. Take decent pictures.
Lifehacker’s basics of photography might be a good place to start. Learn how your camera works, the basic of composition, and editing images in post-production. If you finish that and you’re not sure what to do next, here’s a short course on displaying and sharing your digital photographs.
20. Learn to knit.
Instructables has a great course by a woman who is herself an online-taught knitter. You’ll be making baby hats and cute scarves before this winter’s over!
21. Get started with investing in stocks.
If you are lucky enough to have a regular income, you should start learning about savings and investment now. Investopedia has a ton of online resources, including this free stocks basics course. Invest away!
22. Clean your house in a short amount of time.
Unf$#k Your Habitat has a great emergency cleaning guide for when your mother-in-law springs a surprise visit on you. While you’re over there, the entire blog is good for getting organized and clean in the long term, not just in “emergencies.” You’ll be happier for it.
23. Start practicing yoga.
Most cities have free community classes (try just searching Google or inquiring at your local yoga studio), or if you’re more comfortable trying yoga at home, YogaGlohas a great 15-day trial and Yome is a compendium of 100% free yoga videos. If you’re already familiar with basic yoga positions but you need an easy way to practice at home, I recommend YogaTailor’s free trial as well.
24. Tie your shoelaces more efficiently.
It’s simple and just imagine the minutes of your life you’ll save!

dark academia but STEM
- pinning the most difficult equations you solved to your wall. Or just the ones you find beautiful
- lots of plants, their names written in the pots. Trying different ways to grow them.
- always having lab gloves in your bag or pockets.
- writing ideas for projects in messy notes, putting them between the pages of your notebooks and forgetting about it
- hands dirty with black ink because you’ve been writing for too long too fast
- massive books under your arms, laptop full of carefully tagged papers while the printed ones are a total mess
- insane eyes and absolute euphoria when you finally understand not only the concept, but where did it came from and how it applies on your daily life
- hair always in a bun or ponytails, short finger nails and none jewelry because ~lab rules~
- searching until late at night the exact equipment the scientists used long ago, what methods they used and imagining how would it be to be in their place.
- Feeling as comfortable in the lab as in the library.
- you hate Victor Frankenstein but legit understand why.
- sore eyes from microscope or screen light, aching backs, still not wanting to leave
- looking at people and thinking about how they truly are: organs, cells, molecules, atoms, protons, eletrons, quarks, leptons…. nothing as one would think, everything, all the same, too big, too little, all pieces from a big puzzle
- dreaming about the topic you were studying last day
- having an idea about a paper while talking to your friends. Remembering that is not your field and going crazy because SOMEONE needs to research it.
- you are crazy to read some fiction but there are too many papers waiting for you
- You should be used by now but sometimes still get distracted about how graphics changes according to compartments added.
- finishing a big problem and just staring at it, amazed by how it was unfolded and reorganized until you get to the final answer
- “we don’t know….yet”
- ethics committee?? How about just test it myself, uh?(that new receipt that later comes out a absolute disaster)
- suddenly knowing how to solve a problem in the middle of a lunch
- notebooks margins filled with equations or formulas vs pages almost blank, with just one note or two
- mental breakdowns after classes thay change your perspective completely
- knowing that the truth depends on how further you can see. We’re always getting closer. Never there.
- Looking at an art piece, wondering what kind of ink was used, how it was when it was made, how time has affected it

rune reading made easy
Here’s why you should get your own rune set and how to use it. Yes, Minor Arcana can suffice just fine for very short term, practical predictions… But what about daily life in detail? Runes are the most accurate and quickest way to gain control of your everyday life right from the smallest things.
They can be drawn on their own or featured in Tarot readings and other divination forms: a single rune can clarify the meaning of a card more effectively than any other tool at your disposal.
The ancient who conceived futhark alphabets have assigned simple and concrete meanings to each figure: that’s why they’re easy to understand. By combining them together, one could be able to create more advanced phrases. Runes should be kept inside a dark/opaque bag or box that won’t allow anybody to see them from outside. Runic readings should take place in the morning, as they will warn you about what to watch during that specific day.
1. Shake the sachet and draw one rune at a time blindly.
2. Once you pick the runic symbol, read its straight-forward meaning and keep it in mind without trying to metaphorically interpret it.
3. If you want, you can carry the rune with you in a safe pocket or in your bag; it helps you stay aware and the rune stone/coin itself protects you in some way.
4. Keep in mind the meaning of the rune religiously: it is warning you about specific objects, events or people.
E.G. (happened to me last month lol):
I wake up in a super good mood, have breakfast and pick one rune from my sachet. This rune is raidō. I decide that “ok whatever lets just go out, take the family car and drive to this event, the sun is shining today”. I get out of the parking lot, all was fine, no crashes, no crazy noises… but after 6 minutes of driving my car had a flat tire. And I was shocked in the middle of nowhere waiting for help.
The rune was basically trying to tell me “hey yo, check your tires before you jump in the car ‘cause yesterday somebody slashed them or maybe a family member accidentally drove onto something pointy and hard”.
I call dad to seek some kind of comfort and he goes “yes, I was expecting that to happen…” and explains how something may have pierced the left tire on the rear (the one gone flat, I got chills) on the way back home from the countryside.
In this case, I should’ve checked the state of the car beforehand and/or ask a family member if all was ok with the car. A simple thing, which I just overlooked despite a super specific raidō showing up in my quick 1-rune morning reading.
That’s only a small example of how runes can prevent you from getting into trouble on a daily basis.
So lovelies, please give em a try if you feel weak or lost in general. These beautiful symbols will guide you through. ♡
ᚠ fehu - wealth, cattle ᚢ ūruz - auroch, wild animal ᚦ þurisaz - the god Thor, giant ᚨ ansuz - The god Odin, ancestors, insight ᚱ raidō - ride, journey, cartwheel, wheel ᚲ kaunaz - fire, ulcer, torch ᚷ gebō - gift, interaction ᚹ wunjō - joy, pleasure ᚺ hagalaz - hail stone, precipitation ᚾ naudiz - need, necessity ᛁ īsaz - ice, cold, blocks ᛃ jēra - year, season, harvest ᛇ eiwaz - yew, tree ᛈ peorþ - dice cup, mystery ᛉalgiz - elk, protection, shielding ᛊ sōwilō - Sun ᛏ tīwaz - the god Tyr, creator, male things ᛒ berkana - birth, mother, beginning, female things ᛖ ehwaz - horse, transportation ᛗ mannaz - man, human being ᛚ laguz - water, lake ᛜ ᛝ ingwaz - the god Yngvi, young person, fertility ᛟ ōþila - home, heritage, estate, possession ᛞ dagaz - day, daylight Hope this post was helpful and inspiring for you!
Stay tuned for more… Loads of love,

Making Spirituality Real Masterpost

Basic Information
Welcome to the Making Spirituality Masterpost, where you can easily access all my original writing.
I’m an astrologer, both vedic and tropical, a tarot reader and a spiritual life coach, and here you can find the summary of my work.
I created a Masterpost Section, but I know not everyone visits it, so here is a rundown of basic information about my blog.
Since people ask me a lot about private readings, I invite you to visit my Etsy Shop. We can discuss about the form of a reading, that is convenient for you, because only a small percentage of people, who come to me for readings use Etsy as a platform.
I also appreciate any PayPal donations. Outside of private readings, which I really love to do, because it’s the best way to give individual advice, I spend my days answering people’s questions, writing, counseling or creating youtube content, and all of that completely for free. At the same time I’m also studying and meditating to be able to channel my gifts even better. Spirituality and Astrology are my life’s passion, my purpose and a lifestyle that I’m devoted to. This takes up all of my time, and requires hard work.
I invite you to like my Facebook Page, which also has a growing community and some posts, that are not available here on tumblr.
I tag all my answers with Astrology Asks, so before you ask your own question, check if the answer isn’t in one of the posts in the tag, because the questions sometimes repeat themselves, and you may find that the information you’re looking for is already there. Check also the tag of your Nakshatra or Zodiac Sign.
