Well, today was the day that I finally had to take down my featured artist wall at my local gallery! I'm sad to see it come down, but I'm happy that people seemed to enjoy it while it was up! Gives me more hope for the future, where I can hopefully do more of this kind of thing! So in an effort to get myself in higher spirits, I've been listening to one of my favorite music groups, FAKE TYPE, quite a bit. Their videos inspired me to try out their art style on my own character, so here you go, my attempt at drawing myself in the FAKE TYPE style! Here are some quick flat-color doodles of my demon siblings, Prince Ellroy and Princess Flarria! They actually aren't related by blood. They were both adopted by the king of a dark demon realm to do his bidding and serve as figureheads. Ellroy is a pop star who lures in chicks for their souls (though not by choice), and Flarria captures the hearts of men for souls as well (she enjoys it for the most part though). Here's a new creature design, at last! I call this species the "Sunray Mantis". Its design is very lightly inspired by Greek style stuff, not sure if anyone can tell but it doesn't matter that much anyway! This is a creature design that has been around for a LONG time. The pictures in this post, in order, are from now, 2015, and then 2013! When I was younger I always loved the idea of forest sprites, or any kinds of little creatures working in the background with nature. These little things were my favorite of the designs I came up for that idea, and I've kept them ever since! Another new redesign is here! The second picture is the old 2013 design of this creature, which I named "the Sea Maid". I've redrawn this little cutie several times since that first drawing, but this is by far my favorite redesign, and the one I'll probably keep at the new official one! I know she's not really a mermaid, but she has "Maid" in her name and is a fantasy sea creature, so I'm counting this towards the MerMay theme also!
