Confusion.

I’m.. lost. And honestly I don’t know where else to post this but I need a place to talk it out/type it out. Feel free to leave comments if you have suggestions. Anything under here is a vent.

A log of events occurring over the past 5 years.

Began looking into witchcraft out of curiosity after reading a few Wiccan books that conflated the two

Fell in love with the craft but not Wicca as much as I wish I could

Met my ex-mentor who was Wiccan and was genuinely creepy TM.

Began researching helpol due to book writing interest

Fell in love with the religion, fell in love with Hestia

Mental health got in the way and my delusions took over for the better part of 2 years

Stopped practicing religion due to fear delusions would start again

Started researching Christianity to understand my friends and family better but I couldn’t stay focused on the topic and it made me uncomfortable

Stopped researching faith in general and focused on witchcraft

Got burned out on witchcraft and want to go back to religion but I’m afraid.

So that’s been the last 5 years… in a nut shell. There’s been drama, heartbreak and trauma during those years but this isn’t the place nor the time to talk about those.

I want so badly to find WHO I am. I loved helpol but I can’t tell if I can trust myself to get back into it. I can’t tell if I’ll give up or if I’ll lose interest in my own faith. I feel guilty for leaving it in the first place. I want to go back but I’m not sure I can. And it’s not a pride thing on going backwards at all, it’s a “what if I’m missing something that does click with me more” the prospect of something else being out there for me is what’s keeping me away. I want to explore but I keep going back to helpol. Maybe I’m just being overly analytical…

Hey everyone! Here is another application boost for @pyrphoros-library . We are in need of more members. ESPECIALLY the research team. The research and website teams are new so please, if you're interested apply! We are always looking for new team members it seems so even if you didn't get in last time please apply again. And NO your experience in religion or craft doesn't matter, we are looking for people of all experience levels. We learn from everyone! The only thing Pyrphoros asks is if you join a social media team you have managed an account before. One thing that isnt mentioned here is ARTIST. There are sometimes custom pieces we want for our posts, especially on Instagram. We currently only have one artist on hand. We do request digital artists for this position only.

A review of Plant Witch by Juliet Diaz.

Juliet Diaz is an indigenous practitioner who has a long history of brujería and curanderos within her family. Labeling herself as a plant witch, she teaches the readers of this book the basics of what a plant witch is. I think the thing I loved the most about this book, beyond the compendium of 200 different plants, is how Diaz goes into ways to connect more with nature throughout the book. She uses not only examples of her own experiences but detailed explanations and even spells to get more connected with nature's cycles. Beyond looking into spell work I appreciate how within the compendium Diaz includes medicinal properties of the plants if any, the magical correspondences and how to work with the plants wisdom (a concept that works with more animism centered practices). In the end I think the one thing I will say is that its definitely worth the buy and Juliet Diaz did a wonderful job.

Life update... again

Hey guys, we are no longer labeling our selves as Hellenic polytheists. Many things that we experienced personally within the community left a bad taste in our mouth as well as who we listened to on a more individual level.

I don't know where my path is taking me, and honestly that's terrifying. For now we will be a healer, guide, or something in between the two.

Why those two in particular? Well that's where we find comfort. Herbal remedies or even folkloric based tricks and tips for life intrigue and help us. Guiding people down a path of their choosing as far as I can take them brings me joy.

TLDR: I'm giving up a religious life for the sake of finding peace within myself and restructuring my craft however that may look.

Session 1 funnies: the apple tree

Rowan- Is.. Is that.. An apple tree? An apple dapple bapple tree? Holden- Offers Rowan his ration since Row seems very hungry Rowan- Declines the ration and goes to the tree, noisily eating the apple he picks. Holden to the others- Damn what is he part horse?? Bro you good it's an apple!! Ray- Looks at Rowan with disgust.

Worship: A system’s perspective

Hello everyone! Rose here… As some of you may know we are a system. This makes worship a little funky because not everyone worships the same gods or the same way. In general we all worship Hestia but every alter in our system has different interests in the gods. Our main tips for other systems is to:

1. Agree on one deity to start with. Preferably someone who is central to shared interests or to the pantheon.

2.. Find one day out of the week where you have the most time to dedicate to research (a discreet offering to the gods you’re reading about) or to give offerings and libations. Make this a weekly habit.

3. Have a way of divination y’all are confident in especially if you have clairs of any kind. This will help you determine if you’re hallucinating or experiencing any other mental health related issues.

Remember confirmation bias is a thing and get your readings checked or interpreted by someone else if possible. (if you need help with this I’m honestly willing to help you for a $0.50 per card fee or for via trade. DM us at @portal-of-roses​

Hestia has no children, yet she has many through those who follow her.

A home is a home, whether filled with pattering feet, paws or only yourself. Build your home into a sanctuary for your soul. It’s what you deserve, and it is what you should want, and what Hestia would want for you.

And remember always, when you see a lost lamb, a brother or sister struggling offer yourself up to help when you can. Be the damn kindness you want to find in the world. For it won’t often have any to spare you.

Stop downing Hestia

I don’t understand how people try to talk down on Hestia. Yes she is the goddess of the Hearth and Home but do you understand how strong you have to be to control these things? Family is not always easy, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, it’s tough, you’re in a house (or home) with people for most or even all of your life and there’s fighting and crying and Hestia steps in and calms it and brings joy to the home. Also she protects the home, do you know how hard that must be? And how powerful you’d have to be to do this? I mean Hecate, Zeus, Apollo, and Hermes are also protectors of the home and they get great respect so why shouldn’t Hestia? Really in my eyes, Hestia (when the house is threatened) is that silent destroyer that no one wants to mess with. Hestia brings people together so how dare you talk down on that. Hestia is caring and has great strength and she is a Goddess so show her respect!

Starting over once more

hey everyone, so a little update: We are... starting over our practice once more. I would say this is a genuine refresh instead of doing our usual: "oh I'll just take a break for a week or two and reconnect with the deities I want to continue working with even though I said goodbye to them..."

Because frankly that isnt working anymore. And our practice itself was never set in a way that made sense to us. We collected info like crazy but never studied besides getting the basics, and we never really got to practice within our practice outside of divination or protections.

We are going to be starting over from scratch (minus a few deities who are key to our practice like Hestia is. Shes here to stay and I greatly appreciate Her). We have a few ideas in mind of where we want to go its just a matter of figuring out how to get there I guess...

And before anyone asks yes we know how to cleanse, banish and protect, especially since we work with deities. We practiced secularly with those three premises for two or 3 years before starting religious work <3 -Lucianna and Cypress Rune

I'm sure I said it somewhere else, but I'll say it again: please don't feel ashamed or guilty when esoteric or spiritual practices need to be put on the back burner when you're dealing with stressful things in your life.

I've spent the past month and a half facing one challenge after another at work, and as a result, I've only kept to the small daily rituals that could be done in a minute or less. And that's okay.

Spiritual practices will still be there when it's time to return to them. The gods will still be there when it's time to make offerings again. Your ancestors and spirit guides are always with you, even if there are times when you don't interact with them as much.

It is okay to prioritize things that aren't your spiritual journey. It's a journey, not a race.

I hate the notion that deities have to reach out to you before you can even begin thinking of just worshipping them like no… if you want to honor them do that.

But then people who want to jump straight into working just assume the deity wants to work with them. Like maybe that’s the case but at the same time don’t you apply to the job before you get it? With the possibility of being rejected? Where’s their consent to helping/working with you? Working with a deity is more complicated than casting a spell while invoking someone.

But ya know that’s just us and a handful of other people ig.
