this is illegal. photographing somebody without their consent in a public toilet is a sex offence.
scotland police has an online reporting tool, that I urge you to use. with enough reports, action may be taken against j.k rowling.
here is what i filled in for each box, for you to base your own answer off of. (please do not copy this directly, as similar/identical reports will most likely be ignored)
Are you reporting an emergency that is happening now?
- No.
What do you want to report?
- Harrassment. (i tried choosing 'other' but it would not let me progress with the form)
Are you reporting concerns about someone else?
- No - This is about me. (saying yes makes you put in an address, name, etc.)
Do you want to report this information anonymously?
- Yes. (you are welcome to choose 'no' if you wish, but it asks for quite a bit of personal information)
each of these text boxes have a 2000 character limit, try to keep your responses concise. also note that you are required to fill each of these boxes out.
Tell us what happened:
- J.K Rowling, a well-known author, is encouraging others to photograph transgender women (who she refers to as men) using female facilities (toilets, changing rooms, etc.). Photographing other people in public toilets or changing rooms is a criminal offence under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, and inciting others to commit a crime is an offence under the Serious Crime Act 2007.
Proof of this can be found on her Twitter/X feed, here: https://x.com/jk_rowling/status/1936542508688842878
Where did this happen:
- This happened on the social media website Twitter/X.
When did this happen:
- This was posted at 10:51 P.M. on the 21st of June 2025.
Do you know the person(s) who did this OR can you give a description of them:
- J.K. Rowling, a well-known author.
Can you give any more information that might assist the police:
- J.K. Rowling has been known to harrass and defame transgender people (specifically transgender women) as a group in the past, through posts on Twitter/X, donations to anti-transgender organisations, or generally expressing support for anti-transgender organisations.
other information:
- as far as i am aware, this form is not limited to U.K residents, but please comment on this post if you are not from the U.K and have trouble accessing it.
- please try not to swear, insult the police, etc., especially if you choose not to report anonymously, and try to use correct grammar, and sound as professional as possible. rude/unprofessional-sounding reports may be ignored.
- if you provide your address anywhere on the form, the police MAY try to contact you through the post. do not provide your address if you have family members/other people at the same address who are unsupportive and may try to read your letters.
-provide sources where relevant, and try not to exaggerate facts/figures. non-factual reports may be ignored.
-there is a button on the website that takes you to the BBC news website, should you need to leave the page quickly. it is labeled "Click here if you want to exit the form or leave this page quickly." and is located near the top and bottom of the webpage.
-provide personal accounts, if you wish to, such as:
how you have been affected by J.K rowling/people who take after her actions
how transphobia in general has affected you
please try to keep these accounts as vague as possible if you wish to remain anonymous.
- most importantly, stay safe. if there is someone who is transphobic in your life who may find out you have made this report, do not make it. your safety is the number one priority.

i absolutely fucking love it when people cant disprove your point so they just insult you or change the subject entirely
it makes me giggle
like imagine not being able to take the time to even do a 2 second google search to find even the flimsiest piece of evidence that supports your claim
i had someone quote the literal bible to me as if it was historical fact and honestly even that is better than just having nothing

if your lgbtq+ advocacy centers white and able bodied lgbtq+ people, it is not advocacy.

"but palestine would kill you for being queer!"
i am a queer for palestine in the same way that i would save a homophobic man from murder. in the way that i am a human, who cares about other humans.
ps. on a slightly unrelated note but still about palestine:
the crew of the madleen is being illegally abducted in international waters. being a uk-registered ship, the uk government has a duty to protect it and its crew. if you are a resident of the uk, email your MP, or the foreign, commonwealth + development office. if you are not, flood the comments of keir starmer's social media pages, demanding action. as the prime minister of the UK, he has to act now.
@humantiproject on instagram has more information on what is happening and how to take action.

transphobia does not protect women's rights.
it harms them.
more and more cis women are being questioned, attacked, and made to "prove" their sex in order to access women's spaces.
if you have strict ideals of what a woman should be, any woman who falls outside of those ideals is at risk.
women of colour are more at risk for transphobia, as they typically havs more "masculine facial features"
transphobia is rooted in misogyny and racism.

no, this is not a good thing.
if you deem something as inhumane as chemical castration to be "okay" to use on certain groups, there is very little time until people who are not part of that group, are deemed as part of that group by law enforcement.
the ehrc recently ruled that transgender people should not be allowed to use the public facilities (toilets, changing rooms, etc) aligning with their gender.
how long until they deem those who still use the correct facilities (those aligning with their gender), as "sex offenders", and are legally allowed to chemically castrate them?
it may sound outlandish and impossible, but it absolutely is not.

no, your lesbian friend does not "like girls", she is not a "kissgirl". she is a lesbian.
no, your gay man friend is not "a fruit", he does not "go for men". he is a gay man.
by using euphemisms to describe gay people, you contribute to our erasure. you treat being gay as a "taboo" subject.

it is pride month.
and the lgbtq+ community need your support.
not just your public support.
putting "happy pride month" in your bio is not support.
protect your queer friends and family.
make sure they know they are loved.
march at pride.
donate to queer charities.
contact your local government relating to queer issues.
protest.
if your support is only public, and does not extend to your personal life, it is not support.

this was written when we had a tory gvt, but it seems relevant more now than ever. i present to you, my (fairly shite) english speaking exam speech.
tw for mentions of transphobia (legal and social), murder motivated by hate, and insensitivity to this murder by the government. this contains some pretty dark topics, don't feel as though you have to read.
Transgender people are under attack, and these attacks are being carried out by our own government. Transgender people are under attack, and you can help. You are the next generation. You have the power to bring attention to these issues. The leader of a country should be trusted to care about his people; our prime minister does. He cares, as long as you don't dare exercise the right to oppose the government. If you aren't gay. If you aren't transgender. We should be able to put trust in our leaders to better our lives, not make people fear for their lives. Our prime minister should not be a person who pokes fun at a minority, especially when the minority in question has recently lost a member due to a bigoted attack, and especially when the mother of said member is present in the room. Transgender individuals already face so much discrimination, and our government continues to poke fun at them, to try to eradicate them, and to stop education about them. Brianna Ghey was described as brave, and strong, by people who knew her. She was described as "fearless to be whoever she wanted to be". Her life should not have ended in the way that it did. It should not have been glossed over by local authorities. It should not have been joked about by government officials. Brianna was sixteen years old, when she was murdered in an act of hate by two of her classmates. This murder was violent, and motivated by one characteristic: the fact that Brianna was transgender. The police in her area ruled out the possibility of a hate crime, at the time of the killing, which, in turn, caused news sites to spread the news that the possibility of this attack being a hate crime was ruled out completely, which caused the attack to be treated with much less urgency than it should have been. A year after this, rishi sunak proceeded to poke fun at keir starmer, the leader of the labour party, for making a "u-turn" on what he considered a woman to be, while Brianna’s mother was in the chamber. In an attempt to save face, after the true distastefulness of this joke was brought to light, Sunak stated that Brianna's mother showed "the very best of humanity" for the "compassion" she showed after her daughter was murdered. He also added that the murder "was an unspeakable and shocking tragedy". Sunak evidently did not believe any of this, as he continues to attack transgender people himself.
For example, as well as poking fun at them, our government contributes to the eradication of transgender people. They still have yet to protect transgender people under the bill banning conversion therapy. Conversion therapy is proven to be ineffective and harmful, yet the government still shows no opposition to this practice being carried out on transgender people. In addition to this, the government has passed a bill that makes the teaching of anything related to gender identity in schools illegal, this is incredibly harmful to the transgender community, as ignorance commonly leads to hate, which can, in time, lead to more transgender people being lost to hate crimes. As well as this, they have introduced guidance that states that if there is evidence that a child is questioning their gender, or starting to socially transition, the school must tell the child’s parents. While this is only guidance, and does not have to be followed, this is still harmful to transgender children, as they could potentially be outed to an unsupportive family. This has been brought to our government's attention in the form of protest, yet still nothing is done. The conservative party has also recently pledged to exclude transgender people from same-sex spaces if they win the general election. Rishi Sunak hides the blatant transphobia of this by sheltering it under the guise of "protecting women". This is, of course, not true, our prime minister could not care less about protecting women, he only wants to eradicate transgender people.
The people of the UK also do little to assist transgender people in their fight for equal rights. A report by stonewall states that hate crimes have increased by 186 percent in the past five years, and continue to increase by 11 percent every year. The report also states that 28 percent of transgender people have experienced domestic abuse from a partner, 25 percent have experienced homelessness at one point in their life, 12 percent have experienced violence at work, and 44 percent avoid certain streets, as they do not feel safe walking there as a trans person, 36 percent have experienced negative comments or behaviour from staff at university, 40 per cent adjust the way they dress because they fear they will be discriminated against or harassed. The hate crimes that are included in this report are just the ones recorded by police. In 2021 alone, 2,630 hate crimes were recorded by police, but, out of 108,100 responses to the national lgbt survey, 88 percent of transgender people said that they did not report hate crimes against them to the police. This brings the total number up to around 22,000. Out of the small number of hate crime victims that did report the violence against them, 48 percent said that they were dissatisfied with the action (or lack thereof) that police took. Transgender individuals are the most targeted group within the lgbtq+ community, and things are not getting better.

oh wow, it's almost as if they don't want us to exist in public spaces!
i'm not allowed in mens' spaces, but also not allowed in women's spaces. if a place doesn't have a single-stall, gender neutral toilet, where exactly am i meant to piss?
what use is the "protection" the equality act offers us, if our own government is actively discriminating against us?
