Look I love Tumblr, it has given me much refuge after a long day and particularly comes in useful when my other avenues of distraction are down or not giving me anything good, but when Ao3 is down this place becomes hell.

And I’m not talking about all the people lamenting about Ao3 being down, I’m right there with them, but I can’t go 5 posts on this website without running into fic recommendations that I get so excited about reading only to realize, fuck, that’s why I’m here, I can’t read them. And then it’s trying to keep track of which posts had the recs in the comments and which ones I’ve already gone through and I just want to cry, I misS MY WIFE TAILS-

Okay, extra glad I had already decided not to go because they delayed it several months, moved entirely out of my area, and a bunch of people who paid for tickets never got refunded after this info got leaked on a livestream and not even from any official channels. Fuck the people in charge of this event.

Okay, y’all, so I was thinking of actually going to Creator Clash 3, half because it’s within a reasonable distance from where I’m staying for the summer and also because I think it would be funny as shit to live post/text the Tubbo v. Sapnap fight, but bestie, the only seats that are even worth sitting in are already above $1k on ticket websites and the fight is still 4 months out, so fuck no. Boxing is not like a concert where you can watch from the nosebleeds, I need to actually see what is going on to understand shit, and I can’t do that if I’m paying less than $100 and sitting 100+ feet from the ring. So RIP to my dreams of getting to see Tubbo knock the lights out of Sapnap.

Also RIP to my other dreams of getting to see FunkyFrogBait in person, sorry but I don’t have those kinds of funds bestie.

My inner mythology nerd getting unreasonably annoyed at this being referred to as a basilisk.

Sorry, that’s a cockatrice and I will not be told otherwise. While it’s true that the two terms were used somewhat synonymously, Wikipedia seems to site this convergence of meanings as being because of an incorrect translation back in the late 1390s.

“The cockatrice (pictured) became seen as synonymous with the basilisk when the "basiliscus" in Bartholomeus Anglicus's De proprietatibus rerum (ca 1260) was translated by John Trevisa as "cockatrice" (1397).”

Aka, screw you John Trevisa, know your mythological beasts better. Yeah, they’re both made in similar ways, what with a cockatrice being made when a toad/snake incubates a rooster egg, and some sources stating basilisks to be made when a rooster incubates a snake egg, and both are known for turning creatures who look at them to stone, but conflating the two which have been described as having very different appearances is weird. Basilisk is a snake, it’s literally part of what the name translates to, and the cockatrice similarly has a name that alludes to what creature it looks like. They’re roosters with snake tails, not full snakes, they’re not the same thing!!!!

TIM Talks

I just recently got into this fandom so please bear with me if I either retread old ground or get some small stuff wrong.

It is well known that ‘98 Young Justice are chaotic as fuck, and good, I like them that way, but I also feel like they come to recognize that they need to let out some of the chaotic energy in a more healthy outlet than crime fighting because otherwise they end up causing mass property damage which is not good for publicity. So, solution, TIM Talks.

Tim has a propensity to get into his own head when he gets bored, which can sometimes lead to him spiraling, so he realizes early on into YJ’s existence that he needs something to focus on when he gets like that lest he start Dewey decimalizing his contingencies. He enjoys the process of researching, no matter the topic, but he often hyperfixates and goes down a bunch of rabbit holes if he isn’t forced to stop, so he implements a self-imposed deadline. He has 24 hours to research any topic and at the end he’ll organize all his findings and move on to something new. Turns out slideshows are really helpful for organizing his thoughts and keeping them all in one folder helps him remember what topics he’s already done, so that how he usually finishes off these little research binges. He doesn’t go in intending to share them, they’re just a fun little side project to stave off boredom when he’s got no case work or WE files to finish.

However, on one of these research days, he ends up looking into some Kryptonian legends and has a tough time reading one of the more worn documents he’s found so he calls Kon in to help decipher it. Kon sticks around for a little bit after, he’s bored too, and realizes Tim is making a slideshow out of this information. He asks why and Tim tells him it’s a good distraction. Kon asks to see the presentation when he’s finished and Tim agrees. Turns out all the practice from being the CEO at WE has made him really good at presentations, and Kon has a lot of fun listening to it, asking if he can see some of the other presentations. Tim agrees, talking through his thought process helps the information stick better and who knows? Any of this could be useful later, especially for someone as chronically over prepared as a Bat.

By the time they get to the 5th presentation, Bart and Cassie come looking for Kon as they’d been hanging out before and he never came back from his visit to Tim‘s room. They crack open the door but Tim is in full presenter mode so Kon just puts a finger up to his lips and pats the ground next to him. By the end, Tim finally noticed the two extra presences in the room and Bart and Cassie are fully engrossed.

This becomes a regular thing for them, every time Tim makes a presentation he ends the research period by presenting it to his team. When he starts struggling to find topics Cassie suggests that the three of them each put a bunch of suggestions in a hat for Tim to randomly pick so he doesn’t go down a spiral just trying to pick a subject. By the time new members join this is an established team bonding activity. They have a specific day every other month dedicated to it, they buy snacks and bring out their pillows and blankets like it’s movie night. They all enjoy watching their usually composed friend start ranting in the middle of presenting because one of the leading researchers on the topic is CLEARLY biased, if they looked at Study D it would be instantly apparent that-

It’s Cissie who coins the name TIM Talks after Tim finally reveals his name to everyone. She breaks down laughing for a solid ten minutes after his reveal before being able to squeeze out that his Talks are way better than whoever the fuck Ted is. They mark the day down with the new name on the calendar that very evening.

In the early days of TIM Talks, interruptions were very rarely permitted. Tim has a thought process going into these things and he doesn’t appreciate being thrown off course when he’s gonna get there eventually anyway. As the team gets to know each other, this becomes less of an issue. The other members of the Core 4 are able to feel out where the process is headed and resolve to only interrupt when something important is missed or when they know they’ll be able to get Tim on a good tangent. These presentations are dual purpose, they give Tim a research and a a venting outlet. Whenever new members join, it’s heavily emphasized to not interrupt and if you have any questions to simply field them through the rest of the Core 4 to see if they think it will be well received. You have to earn your place on the board of interrupters.

All in all, it’s a good way for the whole team to destress, bond, and have a bit of fun. I like to think the schedule is has this and self care night alternating each month. I love Young Justice, especially the Core 4 and I just need them to have a chance to be kids and chill ax more often, you feel?

This is genuinely a master class in character design, I love how they all have unique vibes to them while still carrying those basic traits that tie all of them together. The creative use of the microphone/hairpiece that Meloetta’s OG design has is particularly striking, the versions for Waltz and Cantare are my favorites.

On the contrary, I need MORE of Kon enabling Tim’s questionable ethics. I need him finding out that Tim has bugged all of his devices and planted a tracker on him and finding it sweet that he was concerned for his safety. Kon was literally made by a supervillain, this shit is tame to him and not actively hurting anyone so Kon would probably start doing it back tbh. Unhinged TimKon is something we don’t get enough of.

Plus, I think you underestimate how easily Kon could distract Tim from evil just be kissing him if it was really necessary. You can’t look me in the eyes and tell me Tim doesn’t give touch starved energy, the brain goes out the window when a pretty boy is touching him.

Kon and tim will never be allowed to be together because tim is a certified grade A freak wrapped in the strongest autistic rizz I've ever seen and kon is way too much of a "standing by my pookie" type of guy to safely handle all that. Like, beyond a shadow of a doubt, kon can handle tim's freak without breaking a sweat—the issue is what they would become if allowed to dedicate that energy to each other. Like kon does not care to reel that in at all. The safety in question here is the safety of other ppl

Hello! I really love your AU, I really like how you put a lot of work into each of the colors!

My question is: What are each pair like as couples? I feel like Vio and Shadow would be the type to go to IKEA and pretend to be a dysfunctional couple. I think they’d take bits way too far. Were Red and Blue in a situationship before becoming a couple? I know that Red was being patient and waiting for Blue to be ready but they must’ve been pretty emotionally intimate before? Do Zelda and Green have any weird things they get up to? I guess my question is are there any headcanons you have for how the couples act or for any weird things they do?

For Vio and Shadow I like to think that they really get each other in a way no one else does. They’re generally on the same wavelength most of the time, knowing what the other is thinking before they do it. They definitely play pranks that go too far on people they don’t like, but even when Green or the others know it was them they can never find evidence to really call them out on it.

For Red and Blue we can definitely call what they have at first a situationship. They’re madly in love but Blue’s fear that he’ll die and leave Red all alone, his fear of intimacy, putting Red in danger, etc. has really kept him from sealing the deal. I don’t wanna go into NSFW territory here but there have been moments for sure between them throughout the years, and the fact Blue never chases anyone else is what gives Red the strength to wait.

Green and Zelda are publicly such a like well put together couple, always refined and poised, but they are the two silliest people you’ve ever met when in private events. In a modern au they’d be those couples to wear matching halloween costumes each year, ask each other to be their Valentine every year without fail, etc. Green is that guy that sighs dreamily whenever someone mentions Zelda. They’re also those couples that go “oh darling we should do this!” “honey that’s the best idea i’ve ever heard” like just one very happy and in love braincell between them.

Court Member Ravio is one of my favorite headcanons for this reason. He might not look like it, but my boy is usually one of the smartest people in the room, he just knows how to play the long game. He is a close friend of Lorule’s Queen, he has to have had at least some experience with court social politics. In Lorule if you were dumb you didn’t make do, you have to know how to trick and deceive to make it in a crumbling kingdom, so Ravio figured out that in the world of court politics people would go after the smart ones first. They’re the biggest threats, the ones who catch on first when you make an unfair deal, when you take more than you’re allowed. The dumb ones aren’t expected to last, so no one pays them any mind, meaning you can fly under the radar. With a plan as risky and morally bankrupt as Yuga’s, there’s got to be at least a few others who noticed, who realized that Yuga wasn’t be honest with his intentions, but those would be the people Yuga would shut out as early as possible. When you want to get into the ear of power, you have to make sure that they don’t trust the people who might convince them to not listen to you. Ravio staying silly made him someone Yuga and even Hilda would underestimate. Being silly is not just a personality trait, it’s a survival tactic.

At least, that’s my headcanon on the matter. Either way, I love my boy and you can pry Triforce of Wisdom Holder!Ravio out of my cold, dead hands.

I love opening my first Criminology test and seeing that the placeholder name chosen for the first question is Blastoise. Took me a full ten seconds to snap out of shock, and then I continue to read the question only to be slapped in the face again by the scenario.

Basically, what you need to know is this guy,

And my professor had to specify what it was by the way, in the question he wrote “drove his Revavroom (car)”, dear lord.

So this massive turtle is driving another Pokémon around town and you what he decides to do? He decides to go BURN SOMEONE’S HOUSE DOWN!!! THE FUCKING WATER TYPE BURNED SOMEONE’S HOUSE DOWN!!!

Do you understand what that means? He set someone’s house on fire and then proceeded to watch it burn, while others were likely screaming and calling for the fire department, having the perfect tools to fix the issue literally on his back, and just refusing. He didn’t even get away with it! He got caught and was awaiting his trial in the question! Wtf Blastoise?!

Fair enough. I never downloaded Twitter to begin with, Tumblr is honestly the only social media I have, and even it can get pretty bad sometimes, but yeah, Twitter seems worse than most.

As I mentioned in another post of mine, I tend to linger on the outskirts of a lot of fandoms, especially those whose source material I hardly ever interact with. But that also means that I end up missing a lot of small details, so when a drama happens I feel the need to catch up on what I’ve missed to give an informed opinion which ends up dragging me down a rabbit hole of the dramas that led to the current one. It’s my own sense of curiosity and need for knowledge that’s to blame more than anything, I hate giving opinions that are easily proven wrong so I feel I must do what I can to prevent that. Again, a personal fault more than anything.

But yeah, never downloading Twitter, that hellscape scares me, I’d much rather stay in the fae wilds of Tumblr than ever venture there.

As many people have mentioned, Dream is very good about framing things to make himself sound right and other people sound unreasonable. But not a single video or post he has made so far can convince me that he is doing this with good intentions, because of the way he speaks towards everyone else involved and those he dragged in.

Now I mainly picked up on this with Tubbo and Tommy, but there are hints of it towards his viewers too: he speaks to us all like we’re children. The way a parent talks to a child they’re trying to gently reprimand, or the way a teacher talks about a subject in class. He speaks like we would never be able to come to these conclusions without his help and that he needs to guide us through it all or we’d get lost in the sea of information. And sure, plenty of his viewer base are kids, but the majority of people who would be watching this drama are fans from the Dream SMP era who knows all these people and remembers when they all used to talk and hang out. We may have been kids back then, but it’s coming up on half a decade since that server began; we’re not kids anymore. I myself started watching the DSMP when I was a underclassman in high school, I’m in college now. All the people he called the R-slur, the people who were offended and wanted an apology that he took days to properly deliver, most of us are adults. We can form our own conclusions, and we’re not an amorphous blob of opinions and views, we’re our own people.

This is especially bad when talking about it to Clingyduo, especially Tubbo. In his 3 hour stream he continually talks about Tubbo being misguided, and despite saying he has great respect for Tubbo and his opinions he skips context and actual criticism multiple times or, as Tubbo mentions, tunnel visions on one part of the criticism he can target and tosses the rest out with it when he’s done. He doesn’t give two shits about what Tubbo says unless it’s something he can use against the people criticizing him to make them sound disingenuous. With Tommy it’s worse, because when he’s not villainizing him beyond belief he’s using that condescending tone to talk about how proud he is and how he thought Tommy was special, which explains why Tommy felt so much pressure from him and like he owed him his success, or at least that Dream thought as much. He holds his approval over his head, like an abusive parent who just spent hours screaming in your face about how much of a disappointment you are before telling them “Of course I still love you.” It has the underlying tone of “you’ll make up for this slight, won’t you?”

And don’t even get me started about the DMs to both Tommy and Sarah. It’s fine to explain your feelings, but you’re not explaining them, you are blaming these feelings and reactions on them and telling them “You are the reason I’ve been suffering, it’s your fault for all of these horrible things that other people have been doing to me.” That’s not explaining your feelings, that’s guilt tripping and expecting an apology. That’s how long texts like that come across, that you don’t want the other person to be able to interject, you don’t want to make this a conversation, you want to drop your feelings and leave them to clean up the mess.

Dream’s a manipulative jerk, that’s all this has proved to me.
