Hey guys, it’s time for a poll ⬇️
Done with the semester and I’m on summer break. I’ve been laying around plotting ideas. I’m probably taking on too many mini projects lol. But I was curious if anyone would read a fic with this plot.
I just got done rewatching vampire knight again (I know gross. I’m sorry it’s so bad but you can’t stop) so minus the incest and cringe aspects I got a little inspo for the vibe. Think Vampire Knight x Dead poets society aesthetic 😭
Here’s a small plot summary and poll. This would be a Kyojuro Rengoku x Male Reader. Is anyone interested?
Plot: KNY Vampire Academy AU
Noctem Academy is a elitist vampire boarding school. Power is everything and it’s measured in bloodlines and magic.
The top houses rule through very strict tradition, duels to the death are legal, and bonded mates are both a romantic and political relationship. Half bloods are an annoyance, hunters walk hidden among students, and breaking the laws within vampire politics can result in battles and death.
If anyone’s interested I’ll make a post dedicated to the lore and laws of this universe. This is a love story of course, I just wanted to provide information about the AU just so you are aware of what you’ll be reading and what the story is talking about. Chapters would be posted here, ao3, and wattpad. They would also be about 8-10k words each.

-Authors Note and update at the bottom :)
Since I was young, I never considered myself particularly interesting. It’s not that I hated myself, quite far from it. It’s just that my life lacked the excitement and drama I often heard about from friends and classmates over the years. I had a typical friend group throughout grade school and high school, one free of major conflicts, no serious boyfriends, and filled with ordinary moments. There was nothing to hate, but nothing to write home about either. And honestly, I was completely fine with that.
No one ever bothered me, and I never really felt lonely. Being ordinary, in a weird way, kept me just exempt, safe from the critical gaze of others. My life may not have been the most eventful, but it was peaceful. It was mine.
College, though, was different. Becoming an adult taught me independence. I learned to rely on myself and was doing pretty well, until I met him.
Him.
What were the odds that a random October day would trigger the downward spiral my life has become? I remember every detail of that day.
His smile. The way his amber eyes seemed to glow in the sunlight. That striking blonde and red hair. His face is etched into my memory. And the scent of his vanilla and cedarwood cologne still lingers in my nose, like it never left.
I don’t think we were supposed to meet. It was an accident. I was running late, panicked, and took a different route to class, one I’d never taken before. He was just there, talking with his friends, following his own routine. I was the anomaly. The one who went off script.
As I crossed that courtyard and our eyes met, I knew I wasn’t going to make it to class. It didn’t matter. I had already accepted the absence. What I didn’t know was everything else I was about to lose that day.
“Kyojuro. Kyojuro Rengoku!” he said with a bright smile, extending his hand to me.
I was still a little breathless from all the running I had done in vain. When had he even approached me? And why?
It was then I really took in his appearance for the first time. He was beautiful. The sharp cut of his jaw, the structure of his face, the way his biceps showed beneath his compression shirt… This man had the physique of a Greek god.
It took me a moment to respond, but I finally managed.
“Y/N. Y/N L/N,” I said, taking his hand and shaking it politely. His palm was callused. As I looked up to meet his gaze, I was struck by the intensity in his eyes, so full of passion, it was almost overwhelming.
How could someone’s aura be that strong? Was he like this with everyone?
I wish I could say that was the last conversation we ever had but I guess, after years of a boring, predictable life, the universe decided to throw me a curveball.
Turns out, I’m terrible at playing catch.
What started as occasional run ins on campus turned into studying together in the library. The studying turned into grabbing coffee. Then dinner. And now… here.
Kyojuro has been my boyfriend for over three years now. To the outside world, he’s the standard: the healthy gym guy, a Dean’s List education major, always smiling, always positive, the kind of person people are drawn to without even trying.
That’s what they think.
The truth is, my boyfriend is probably the most mentally unhealthy person I’ve ever met.
A few months into our officially labeled relationship, I started noticing subtle shifts in his behavior. He kept up the cheerful, bubbly front, but small red flags began creeping to the surface slowly, but unmistakably.
“You shouldn’t go to that,” he said plainly, taking a bite of his lunch.
We were sitting in the campus cafeteria, eating together like we usually did. I had just told him about an invite I got, some girls from my class were planning to go out to dinner.
“What? Why not?” I asked, confused by his sudden shutdown. “It’s that nice place downtown. I haven’t had the chance to go yet.”
Kyojuro chewed slowly, then set his fork down. “I just don’t think it’s a good idea,” he said, voice calm. “You don’t really know those girls.”
I frowned. “I mean, we’ve had three classes together this semester. They’re nice.”
He gave a small, tight smile. “Nice doesn’t mean safe. You don’t know what kind of people they hang around with. You’ve told me yourself how spontaneous and unpredictable they can be.”
I blinked. “Okay, but its not like we are going to some frat party. It’s just dinner.”
He tilted his head, and his eyes softened, almost a little too much. “I know, love. I just… I worry, that’s all. You’re too trusting sometimes. I don’t want you getting caught up in a situation you didn’t ask for.”
His words were gentle, but I felt a strange knot forming in my chest.
“I can take care of myself, Kyo,” I said, a little more firmly than I meant to.
His smile faltered for a fraction of a second before returning. “Of course you can. I didn’t mean it like that.” He reached across the table and took my hand, his thumb brushing over my knuckles. “I just want you safe. With me, you’re safe. That’s all I want.”
I nodded slowly, but the lingering unease stayed with me long after lunch ended.
That should have tipped me off. I’ve always prided myself on being able to see people’s true intentions, even without knowing them for long. But with Kyojuro, it was different, almost impossible. Whatever role he was playing, he played it too well.
And that’s how I ended up here.
Staring at the text on my phone, one I’d become all too familiar with receiving lately.
Kyojuro | 5:30pm: “Saw on Life360 that you’re still on campus. Everything okay? I’ve been waiting at the apartment for a while now. No text. No update. Just kinda wondering what’s more important than keeping your word.”
I feel myself grip the phone a little tighter out of frustration.
Is he being serious right now? He knows some of our classes are running over because of finals. I’ve told him that. More than once.
As I start typing a response, another text from him comes through.
Kyojuro | 5:38pm: “I just don’t get why you couldn’t shoot me a quick message. You have your phone clearly, since you’re still on it.”
I wanted to throw my damn phone across the parking lot.
You’d think that after three years of this nonsense, I’d be used to it by now but I’m not. Kyojuro never fails to find some ridiculous reason to take issue with whatever I’m doing. It’s like he’s always looking for a problem.
Y/N | 5:45 PM:
I’m leaving campus right now, Kyojuro. My class ran over by 30 minutes. I told you that might happen with finals coming up.
Before I put my phone in my pocket it chimed again.
Kyojuro | 5:47 PM: “Got it. Would’ve been nice to know sooner. I’ve just been sitting here waiting. Hope it was worth it. Drive safe.”
I rolled my eyes and didn’t bother responding.
The drive home was frustrating. Honestly, I wanted to cancel on Kyojuro and just head back to my apartment to relax. My head was pounding from all the finals stress, and now he was just piling on with his usual nonsense.
I don’t even know why I’m acting surprised. None of this is new.
Around our second year together, the mask started to slip. The version of him I first met, the golden boy, the charming, upbeat boyfriend started fading. And yet, he still plays that role perfectly in front of other people. It’s almost impressive how well he keeps up the act.
But when we’re alone? He switches.
That warm, genuine smile he used to give me gets replaced by this hollow, rehearsed one. It’s like he’s performing for someone who’s not even there.
The sweet texts I used to get, morning check ins, and just little compliments after class turned into subtle interrogations. Questions laced with suspicion any time I was even slightly late to respond.
It’s a mess. Yet I’m still here.
I pulled into my usual parking spot at his apartment complex. When I got to the door, I unlocked it with the key he gave me, one of those small gestures that once made me feel special.
The moment I stepped inside, I was hit with the warm, mouthwatering smell of food and the cozy ambiance that always seemed to wrap his apartment in a calm, inviting glow.
I can say what you want about Kyojuro, he might be a crazy person but his apartment didn’t reflect that. It was clean, thoughtfully decorated, and somehow always smelled like cinnamon and fresh laundry.
Too bad the peace never lasted once he opened his mouth.
I shut the door behind me and slipped off my coat and shoes. When I looked up, I saw him standing at the stove, stirring the beef stew he’d made us.
He didn’t turn around.
“You made it,” Kyojuro said, his voice too calm to be casual.
“I told you I was coming,” I said as I stepped further into the apartment.
He glanced over his shoulder. “Thirty five minutes late, but yeah. Better late than never, right?”
I paused, crossing my arms. “Okay, but you do remember finals are next week, right? It’s not like I was out partying.”
He finally turned to face me, ladle in hand, a tight smile on his lips. “I’m just saying, it would’ve been nice to get a heads up.”
I sighed and dropped my bag by the couch. I never win this game so I’m not even going to try. “You’re right. I should’ve texted you sooner. My bad. I didn’t mean to make you wait.”
He watched me for a second longer than necessary, then nodded slowly.
“It’s fine,” he said, his voice softening. “Dinner’s almost ready.”
“Smells amazing,” I offered, stepping into the kitchen. “I’m starving.”
Kyojuro’s shoulders relaxed a little, and the tightness in his jaw eased.
“I used extra garlic,” he said, setting the ladle down and reaching for the bowls. “The way you like it.”
That made me smile, just a little. “Thanks. I could honestly eat a whole pot by myself right now.”
He chuckled under his breath and handed me a bowl. “Then I’m glad I made extra. Thought we could eat on the couch tonight. I got out your favorite blanket.”
I blinked. “You did?”
“Of course I did.” He gave me a softer smile this time, one that almost looked like the old Kyojuro I used to know. “I know things have been stressful for you. I just want you to feel better.”
My chest tightened a little, conflicted by the warmth in his voice and the sting from earlier. “I appreciate that.”
We carried our bowls over to the couch. He grabbed the blanket and tucked it around my legs before sitting down beside me, close but not pressing.
“I missed you today,” he said quietly, almost like a confession. “Even if I don’t always say it the right way.”
I looked over at him. “I missed you too.”
We watched TV and talked while we ate. The stew was really good, comforting in the way only a home cooked meal can be. Kyojuro told me about his classes and what he did at the gym today. The conversation flowed surprisingly well. It felt… normal.
At least, until it was my turn to talk about my day.
Kyojuro has my location 24/7, yet somehow still gets irritated when I don’t verbally walk him through every place I go. I started telling him about my 9 a.m. class, then mentioned the break I had afterward and how I went to that café near campus since he had class at the time.
The moment I said it, I saw his expression faltered, just for a second. Barely noticeable, but I knew him too well by now.
I kept going, acting like I hadn’t noticed the shift. I talked about the rest of my classes, a quiz we reviewed, and a project I was behind on.
But I could feel it in the air. That quiet tension creeping back in. Like he was waiting for the moment to bring it up.
He nodded along as I talked, eyes on me but distant, like he wasn’t really listening anymore, just waiting for his turn.
When I finally paused to take a sip of water, he spoke, his voice calm and casual.
“That café again, huh?”
I glanced at him. “Yeah, just grabbed a tea and studied for a bit. It was quiet.”
He gave a small smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “You go there a lot when I’m not around.”
I raised an eyebrow. “It’s close to campus, Kyo. And you were in class.”
“Right,” he said, nodding. “I just think it’s interesting you never mention it unless I ask.”
I blinked. “I didn’t think it was a big deal.”
He laughed lightly, shaking his head. “It’s not. It’s just… you used to tell me everything. Now I find things out after the fact. Makes me wonder what else I’m not hearing about.”
There it was.
“That’s not fair,” I said quietly. “I’m not hiding anything. I just didn’t think every stop I make needed to be reported.”
He reached out, gently brushing his fingers over my knee. “I’m not accusing you of anything, love. I just want to feel like I’m still part of your world. Lately, it’s felt like you’re keeping parts of it to yourself.”
His touch was soft. His words were gentle. But underneath, I could feel it, the way he twisted the conversation until I was the one who had done something wrong.
Like I said, when I first came to college, I had this strong sense of independence, relying solely on myself. In a weird way, it gave me a sense of pride. Freedom, even.
But Kyojuro had made it his personal mission to tear that independence down. Piece by piece. He knew everything about me, where I was, who I was with, what I was doing at all times.
At first, I was okay with it. I told myself it was just him caring. That it meant he loved me.
But these dumb, petty conversations, the passive jabs, the subtle guilt trips were starting to wear me down. They crawled under my skin in ways I couldn’t ignore anymore.
And tonight, I could feel it building.
I was about to lose it.
I took a breath and forced a smile, trying to keep my tone light. “Kyo, can we not do this tonight? I’m exhausted, and I really just wanted to eat and relax.”
He leaned back against the couch, arms crossed loosely over his chest. “Relaxing’s easy when you don’t have to worry about keeping someone in the loop, I guess.”
My smile dropped.
I stared at him, stunned for a second, because really?
“Are you serious right now?” I said, the heat in my voice rising before I could stop it. “I told you exactly where I was, I told you I had class, and you still find a way to twist it into something shady?”
He blinked, caught off guard, but I didn’t stop.
“You have my location constantly, Kyojuro. You get real time updates on my every move. What more do you want? a written itinerary? A timestamped photo every time I grab a coffee?”
His eyes narrowed slightly. “I never said you were doing anything wrong—”
“No, you never say it. You just imply it. You act like I’m lying or sneaking around when I’m literally just living my life. You say you trust me, but it feels like I’m always under surveillance.”
The room went quiet.
I could feel my heart pounding, my breath shaky. But I didn’t take it back.
For once, I wasn’t going to.
Kyojuro sat back slowly, his hands folded in his lap. From the outside, he looked composed, calm, even but I could see it in the tightness of his jaw, the way his eyes didn’t blink, the way his fingers twitched ever so slightly.
When he spoke, his voice was low. Controlled. Too controlled.
“You’re really talking to me like this?” he said, eyes fixed on mine. “After everything I’ve done for you?”
I didn’t respond. I couldn’t. I was too busy watching the walls go back up behind his eyes.
“I give you everything, Y/N. My time, my attention, my effort. I put you first always. And now you’re standing there accusing me of trying to control you?” He let out a short breath through his nose, shaking his head. “Unbelievable.”
His voice didn’t rise, but it didn’t have to.
“I guess I was wrong about you,” he added, quieter now, but it landed like a slap. “I thought you were different. I thought you wanted someone who actually cared.”
I felt that twist in my gut again the one he always managed to find and press on just hard enough to make me second guess everything.
My heart dropped.
There it was, that quiet, cutting disappointment in his voice that always found a way to wrap around my throat and squeeze.
“I… I’m not saying you don’t care,” I said, my voice faltering as the fight started to leave me. “I know you do. I know you try.”
Kyojuro didn’t say anything. He just looked at me, that wounded expression on his face like I’d kicked him.
“I just…” I rubbed my hand over my forehead, trying to steady my breathing. “I’ve just been stressed. Everything feels heavy right now and God, maybe I am being defensive, I don’t know. But it’s not because I’m hiding anything.”
My throat tightened, and I felt the sting behind my eyes. I hated crying in front of him especially like this. But the pressure had cracked something open in me.
“I didn’t mean to make you feel like you’re not enough, or like I don’t appreciate what you do. I do, Kyo. I swear I do.”
I looked at him, waiting for any sign that he heard me, really heard me.
Kyojuro finally moved.
He reached out, cupping my cheek with a tenderness that almost made me flinch. His thumb brushed just under my eye, catching a tear before it could fall.
“There’s my girl,” he murmured, his voice soft soothing, almost. “I knew you’d understand once you calmed down.”
I nodded slightly, unsure if it was agreement or just surrender.
He leaned in, pressing a light kiss to my forehead. “You’ve just been overwhelmed. That’s all. Finals, stress, all that pressure it’s been messing with your head. Making you say things you don’t really mean.”
I felt my stomach twist, but I said nothing.
“You don’t have to carry everything on your own, Y/N. That’s why I’m here,” he continued, brushing his fingers through my hair. “To protect you. Even from yourself sometimes.”
His words settled heavy on my chest, and before I could respond, he gently pulled me into his arms.
“Let’s not fight anymore, okay?” he whispered against my temple. “I hate seeing you upset.”
And just like that, the conversation was over.
He had me right where he wanted me, folded back into his arms, quiet, guilt ridden, and wrapped up in the illusion that this was love.
A gasp escaped my lips as he pinned me down to the mattress, his bed had always been so comfortable. Before I could say anything he silenced me with his lips on mine. He wasn’t going easy on me tonight, I must have done a number on him.
Kyojuro broke the kiss and started to trail his lips down my neck, stopping at my collarbone to kiss and suck there too. He made quick work of removing my shirt and panties. I undid my bra and tossed it across the room.
He kissed down my stomach and settled right above my pussy, he didn’t even waste time teasing me tonight, he dived right in, burying his face in and going to town like he was starving for me. My breath hitched as he licked his way up to my clit and wrapped his lips around it, sucking it hard. I couldn’t help but moan out louder than I should, he alternated between sucking my clit and lapping me up. And he was too damn good at it.
I was so wet already, I knew I wouldn’t last long against his tongue. He was doing exactly what I needed. He looked up at me and I was immediately lost in his eyes, he looked so good between my legs.
I knew he was this crazy manipulative bastard, I knew he was a stalker and he wasn’t mentally stable, I knew none of this was smart. He had me exactly where he wanted me and I had no intentions of leaving right now.
I came hard in his mouth, my legs shaking around his head as he held onto my hips and continued to lick and suck me through my orgasm. He only stopped once I stopped shaking and my breathing evened out. He licked his lips and moved up my body until he was face to face with me again.
“Tell me you’re mine.” He demanded, his eyes dark with lust.
“I’m yours.” I panted back.
“Louder.”
“I’m yours!” I moaned.
“Good girl.” He praised me before claiming my lips once again. I could taste myself on his tongue and it made me feel so dirty and needy. I needed to have him inside me as soon as possible.
I didn’t know when he did but while he was going down on me he somehow managed to ditch his own pants. His cock was huge and hard. I bit my lip.
This is so fucked up, I should not be turned on my someone who literally makes my life miserable but I can’t help it.
My heart leaped out of my chest as he rubbed his tip against my entrance.
“K-Kyo you need a condom first—“ I gasped my back arching in pleasure as he pushed his full length inside me.
He’s so thick, I always felt so full with him.
“You can’t tell me you don’t want this,” he panted above me, his arms on either side of my head. “Look how wet you are. You’re practically begging for it.”
I didn’t know what to say, I didn’t want him to go back to being cold again so I nodded.
“Use your words, Y/N.” He demanded again.
“Yes.” I moaned. “I want it.”
“Good. I’ll take care of you.” He started to thrust and I moaned, arching my back into him. He felt amazing, stretching me, filling me to the hilt.
I was on the pill, I knew I was fine but… the condoms just helped to ease my anxiety, but I guess nows not the time to mention it.
He didn’t bother with any slow build up, he fucked into me hard and fast. He leaned down to kiss me again and it was all too much, my body felt so good. It was like I had been starving and he was finally giving me what I craved. I could feel my orgasm building again and I knew this one wouldn’t take long to get to.
He broke the kiss again, his lips trailing down my neck as he fucked me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and held on.
He was angry, he was angry with me to finally having the nerve to snap at him, I knew he’d never change and he was here now reminding me why I stay. Why I let him control me. Why I was his.
He grunted in my ear as he bottomed out inside me. He wrapped his arms under my back, his fingers gripping the back of my shoulders as he pounded into me. I moaned loudly, my pussy clamping down around him. I felt myself cumming, my orgasm crashing into me with a wave of pleasure. I clung to him as he continued to fuck me, riding me through my orgasm.
I felt him grab my hips and flip me over on my stomach like I was weightless. He grabbed my hips and pulled them up before he slammed into me from behind.
The new position had his cock rubbing against a different spot and I cried out as a new wave of pleasure washed over me. He fucked into me even harder than before. He let go of one of my hips to grab onto my hair, using it to pull my head back until I was looking back at him.
“So fucking tight.” He panted. “So good for me.”
I whined, arching my back and pushing back into him, meeting him thrust for thrust.
“Such a good girl.” He grunted. “My perfect girl.”
I felt a gush of wetness around his cock as he called me perfect. I was addicted to the way he made me feel. I loved the way his voice got breathy and his words became choppy when he got close. My pussy clamped down around his cock and I felt him stiffen above me with a groan as he emptied himself inside me.
I felt my eyes roll back, it was so warm. My mind was in a haze. I could feel him pepper kisses on my face, whispering apologies and sweet nothings as he pulled out and cleaned me up.
I was so tired, and my eyes couldn’t stay open any longer.
.
.
.
The morning light filtered softly through the blinds, casting the apartment in pale gold. The air was still, except for the faint hum of the air conditioner and the city waking up outside.
I stirred under the covers, my body aching slightly, a dull reminder of the night before. Kyojuro’s arm was draped around my waist, heavy and possessive even in sleep.
For a moment, I just laid there silently, my eyes fixed on the ceiling, my heart somewhere between numb and conflicted.
Last night had blurred into something intimate his hands on my skin, his lips murmuring apologies between kisses, during his aftercare. Promises that felt sweet in the dark.
Kyojuro shifted beside me, eyes fluttering open.
“Good morning, love,” he whispered, voice gravelly with sleep. He leaned in and kissed my shoulder, his touch gentle and reassuring.
“Morning,” I replied quietly, trying to smile.
He propped himself up on one elbow, brushing my hair back from my face. “You feeling better today?”
I nodded, even though I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to be feeling. Everything inside me felt… tangled.
“Good,” he said, giving me that soft, boyish smile. “I hated fighting with you. Let’s not let little things get between us anymore, yeah?”
“Yeah,” I said, almost automatically.
Kyojuro got up and stretched before heading to the kitchen. “I’ll make breakfast.”
I watched as he pulled on his boxers and disappeared out of the bedroom before I could even say anything.
I could hear him as he moved around the kitchen, humming softly, as if last night hadn’t happened. Like all the tension had suddenly disappeared in his mind.
But I couldn’t move. I just laid there in bed, staring at the ceiling still.
Because deep down, I already knew: this wasn’t the end of anything. It was just another loop in a cycle I didn’t know if I could break.
Weeks passed. Finals ended. Campus slowly emptied out as students fled home for the summer, stress lifting just slightly from my life.
But had anything truly changed?
Of course not.
Kyojuro was still the same closeted, bipolar maniac who couldn’t be content with me for even one full day. If anything, the calm that came after finals just gave him more time to pick apart my every move. It was nerve racking.
I suddenly felt my phone buzz in my pocket with a text from kyojuro.
Kyojuro | 11:42 AM: “Noticed you left your place about 20 minutes ago. Where you headed?”
No “good morning.” No “how are you?” Just straight to the point. Straight to tracking me.
I stared at the screen, thumb hovering over the keyboard. I took a second and looked at my surroundings as I sat on a bench in the city park.
He already knew where I was. He could see it. But he always asked anyway as if hearing me say it out loud gave him some kind of authority over it.
I sat there for a moment, the phone still in my hand, screen glowing with his message.
And then something in my brain, some quiet, rational voice that had been buried under guilt and habit finally spoke up.
This is stupid.
He could already see where I was. I wasn’t doing anything wrong. I didn’t owe him some weird play by play of my life.
So I didn’t answer.
I slipped the phone back into my pocket, leaned against the bench, and let the silence settle around me. For once, I let myself not respond.
It felt small. But it felt like something.
Ten minutes passed.
Then fifteen.
The peace I’d tried to hold onto started to unravel the moment my phone buzzed again.
Kyojuro | 12:01 PM: “Is everything okay?
You usually answer faster than this.”
Another buzz.
Kyojuro | 12:03 PM: “Not trying to be annoying. Just making sure you’re safe.
You know how my brain gets when I don’t hear from you.”
I stared at the messages, my jaw tightening.
There it was, that same old trick. Disguising control as concern. Playing the victim. Reminding me that his anxiety was somehow my responsibility.
He knew exactly what strings to pull.
And part of me wanted to text back, just to make it stop.
I sat on that bench a little longer, maybe 30 minutes, letting my heartbeat settle just enjoying this rare feeling. My phone stayed face down beside me, silent for once. It felt good. Liberating, even.
Until I heard footsteps.
I didn’t think much of it at first. It was a public park, after all.
But then I heard my name.
“Y/N.”
My eyes snapped open.
Kyojuro was standing a few feet away, hands in his pockets, his expression unreadable.
My stomach dropped.
He smiled tight, polite. Not the kind that reached his eyes.
“I was in the area,” he said simply, like that explained everything. “Figured I’d stop by. You weren’t answering, and I started to get worried.”
I stared at him, trying to find my voice. “You tracked me.”
He tilted his head slightly, like I’d said something stupid. “No, I checked on you. Big difference.”
I stood slowly, every muscle in my body going tense. “You are supposed to be in class.”
“I left early,” he said with a shrug. “Thought spending time with you was more important.”
And just like that, my peaceful moment was gone, replaced with the cold weight of being watched, followed, owned.
I opened my mouth to respond to Kyojuro, but before I could get a word out, a voice called from a few steps away.
“Y/N? From MAT 100?”
I turned instinctively.
It was a guy from my class. Kenji, I think. He’d asked for my notes a few times when he missed lectures. Nice enough. Harmless.
I sat up a little straighter, brushing my hair behind my ear. “Yeah, that’s me.”
Kenji smiled as he walked over. “Hey! Just wanted to say thanks again for those notes last week. I ended up doing way better on that quiz than I thought I would.”
I smiled back. “Glad they helped.”
But as he got closer, I felt a shift in the air.
I glanced to the side.
Kyojuro hadn’t moved. But his expression, his whole energy had changed.
Gone was the tight, practiced smile. His jaw was clenched, lips pressed into a thin line, amber eyes fixed on Kenji with something unreadable but unmistakably dark behind them.
My blood ran cold.
He wasn’t saying anything. He didn’t have to.
That look said everything.
Fortunately, Kenji didn’t seem to notice Kyojuro practically staring bullets through him. He kept talking, casual and upbeat, rambling a little about the upcoming project we had for class.
“Professor says we’ll probably have to pair up, but I doubt she’ll actually assign groups,” he said, laughing. “You thinking of working solo, or…?”
I nodded along, trying to seem natural. Relaxed. Normal.
But my smile was tight, and my shoulders were stiff. Because behind Kenji, I could feel Kyojuro standing motionless, burning a hole through the moment with his silence. No warm smile. No friendly greeting. Just heat and stillness, like a storm waiting to crack open.
It wasn’t like him at all, not in public.
And that scared me more than if he’d caused a scene.
I forced a laugh. “I haven’t really decided yet. Finals kind of fried my brain.”
Kenji chuckled. “Yeah, same. Well, I’ll let you get back to your day. Just wanted to say hey.”
“Thanks, Kenji. See you in class.”
He gave a small wave and walked off, totally unaware that he’d just stepped through a minefield and somehow made it out untouched.
The second he was out of earshot, I slowly turned to Kyojuro.
He still hadn’t moved.
“That was Kenji Takahashi,” I said, trying to sound casual, like I wasn’t standing next to a live wire. “He’s in my math class, he just asks me for notes sometimes.”
Kyojuro didn’t say anything right away. His eyes were still locked on the path Kenji had walked down, like he was memorizing every step.
Then, slowly, he turned his gaze to me.
“I gathered that,” he said quietly.
His tone wasn’t raised. There was no anger in his voice. But it was the calm that made it worse. It was sharp, cold, measured.
“You seemed… pretty comfortable,” he added, eyes narrowing just slightly. “Laughing, smiling. Didn’t even introduce me.”
I stiffened. “He didn’t even notice you standing there.”
“Oh, he noticed,” Kyojuro said. “He just didn’t care.”
There it was. The edge beneath the calm.
“I’m not doing this right now,” I said, taking a step back.
But he stepped forward, just enough to close the space I’d tried to reclaim.
“Of course not,” he said softly. “You never want to talk when you know you’re in the wrong.”
“Okay, fine,” I said, throwing my hands up slightly. “Look, Kyo, I’m sorry. I should’ve answered your texts, I get that. But that had nothing to do with Kenji—”
“Didn’t it?” he cut in, his voice still quiet but laced with accusation.
I blinked. “No. It didn’t.”
Kyojuro tilted his head slightly, that same unsettling calm still draped over him like a mask. “So you just happened to ignore me and end up alone in a park with some guy from your class? And you’re laughing, and smiling, and what? You forgot I existed?”
His words stung more than I expected them to.
“I wasn’t alone with him,” I shot back. “He saw me sitting here and said hi. That’s all it was.”
“Do you know how that looked?” he said, stepping in closer now, eyes locked on mine. “Do you know what I felt, standing there, watching you act like I wasn’t even there?”
I swallowed hard, heat rising in my chest.
“You’re making something out of nothing,” I said, my voice cracking just a little.
“No, Y/N,” he said, and now the calm cracked too. Just a bit. “You made it something when you chose to ignore me.”
He let the words hang there, heavy and cruel in their simplicity.
I suddenly felt a real unease crawl up my spine sharp, cold, and undeniable.
This wasn’t just a tense conversation anymore.
I was scared.
“Hey… okay,” I said softly, forcing my voice to stay calm. “I’m sorry, Kyojuro. Please don’t be angry. I won’t do it again.”
His eyes stayed on me for a long second, unblinking. Then, finally, his expression softened just a little.
He let out a slow breath and stepped back, giving me space, but not enough to feel safe.
“I’m not angry,” he said, his voice low. “Just hurt. You know how much I love you, right?”
I nodded, even though my throat felt too tight to speak.
“I just need you to show me that you love me too,” he added, reaching out to brush his fingers gently against my arm. “That’s all I ever want, dove.”
He smiled again. Soft, warm, familiar. But now, it didn’t comfort me.
It terrified me.
“Yeah,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. “I love you too.”
He watched me closely, like he was waiting to see if I meant it.
I swallowed hard. “Is there… is there anything I can do to ease your mind? Or help you feel more comfortable?”
I was grasping at straws, just trying to diffuse whatever this was, whatever it could become. Just trying to say the right thing.
Kyojuro’s eyes softened again, like I’d given him the exact answer he wanted.
“That means a lot,” he said gently, stepping close enough to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. “You saying that… it really does help.”
I forced a smile.
“But if you really want to make me feel better,” he added, voice barely above a whisper now, “maybe don’t go off the grid. Just a quick text. Just so I know you’re safe. So I don’t… imagine the worst.”
I nodded quickly. “Okay. Yeah. I can do that.”
He smiled again and leaned in to press a kiss to my forehead.
“Good girl.”
And just like that, I knew he felt in control again.
But me?
I’d never felt smaller.

Hello, Tumblr!
I know it’s been a few months, sorry for disappearing. Unfortunately, I got wrapped up in classes, and my 3.5 year relationship ended, so I’ve been working through a lot during this time. I hope you all understand. I promise I’m not completely lazy, lol.
Fatal Attraction is currently on hiatus until I can get some creative juices flowing. I truly apologize for the wait. In the meantime, I hope some random one shots will hold you over.

Hashira boyfriends in Squid Games with You
Tumblr media
A/n: I’m sorry this is so random and I’m sure someone’s already done this idea but I just finished season two and I’ve had horrible writers block. Please ignore any grammar or typos.
Hashira men find you stuck in the games with them.
Gyomei Himegima:
* Gyomei agreed to participate in the games. Despite being blind, he successfully got through Red Light, Green Light using his heightened senses and incredible mental stability.
* The games penalties greatly upset Gyomei, he could bare to let you or anyone else get hurt just for something like money.
* He holds your hand most if not all the time. He can’t see, so it reassures him to have you close.
* Voting to leave (X): Gyomei would never want to stay in the games, especially after hearing the screams of those eliminated in the first round.
* He is deeply concerned for your safety. As his lover, you’re his top priority, and he would protect you with unwavering dedication. He is also worried about the others, as he doesn’t want anyone else to get hurt either.
* During nights or just calm moments after the games, he enjoys braiding and playing with your hair, it just gives him something to do and takes his mind off everything.
* Gyomei’s kind and nurturing nature makes him open to alliances. He would be okay with you both befriending other players and he would act as their protector, his sheer size and presence offering a sense of security.
* During the second round of the mini games, Gyomei would effortlessly complete Flying Stone, he’d succeed on the first try thanks to his precision and strength.
* He prays for you both and often meditates with you to keep a level head.
* During the game mingle he would stick to you like glue using his size as an advantage to make sure you both stay together the whole time no matter what number of people was chosen.
* No one dares to mess with you or even approach you recklessly, knowing your boyfriend is a towering, intimidating figure. While gentle at heart, his imposing demeanor keeps trouble at bay.
* Gyomei would undoubtedly join an alliance focused on taking down the creators of the games, determined to put an end to the suffering and injustice. As much as he hates bloodshed, he thinks of you and how unsafe it is for you both to be stuck in there.
“Try not to worry so much my dear, we will be out soon.”
Sanemi Shinzazugawa:
* Once the first game of red light, green light started, he would immediately lock in and make sure you stayed behind him at all times.
* Sanemi would be furious and defiant upon realizing the deadly stakes of the games. He’d see it as a messed up joke at first but quickly adapt, relying on his survival instincts. He’d remain sharp eyed and alert, constantly scanning for threats and potential alliances, though his trust in others would be non-existent.
* Voting to stay (O): Though he was shocked at first, he knows the both of need the money, and he’s so confident in his own abilities he believes he could easily win all while keeping you safe.
* Sanemi’s aggressive and no-nonsense attitude would make him a formidable player. He’d Approach each game with calculated brutality, ensuring the both of you survive.
* Even though the other players refer to him as a “hot head” or “cocky bastard” you know the real sanemi. You can tell deep down he’s scared too.
* During the second round of mini games he had chosen to take on the role of Ddakji, it took him a couple tries because he was so tense but eventually he got it without wasting too much time.
* He would gladly Intimidate competitors who posed a threat, his aura alone warding off most challengers. He isn’t afraid to engage in physical confrontation if necessary, especially if anyone tried to harm you.
* He gives you almost all his food insisting you need to eat more.
* When it comes to you Sanemi’s protective instincts would kick into overdrive. He would protect you from any form of physical harm, even at the risk of his own life.
* If anyone even looks at you in a way he doesn’t like he’s got hands on you immediately not just in a possessive manor, but in a protective one.
* He would make sure to share strategies, ensure you conserved your strength, and keep your spirits up in quieter moments.
* during the game “mingle” Sanemi would keep you close and if for some reason you got separated he would be a wreck until he got his eyes on you again.
* In situations requiring teamwork, Sanemi would rely only on himself and you. He’d distrust alliances, expecting betrayal, but might reluctantly cooperate if the games forced it.
* Sanemi’s temper and blunt demeanor might cause friction, but you would likely be his rock, grounding him in moments of despair or frustration. The chaos of the games might bring out his more vulnerable side, revealing how deeply he cares for his you and how far he’d go to protect you.
“Shut up and stop trying to act tough. I’m not losing you in here, got it?”
Giyu Tomioka:
* During the first game of Red light, green light Giyu would handle this game with calm precision. He’d keep a close eye on you, subtly guiding you with hand signals or quiet encouragement to make sure you both survive.
* Giyu’s initial reaction to the stakes of the games would likely be stoic and measured. He wouldn’t waste time panicking, instead focusing on understanding the rules. His natural wariness would make him suspicious of the organizers and other players, but he’d keep his thoughts to himself, silently observing everyone’s behavior.
* Voting to leave (X): Giyu’s decision during the vote would be to go home, he needed money but not at the risk of losing his life and especially with you here as well. In his mind nothing matters more than you.
* Giyu’s calm and logical demeanor would be his greatest asset. He’d Focus on surviving the games with as little conflict as possible, using his intelligence and foresight to navigate challenges.
* while keeping up this stoic facade he’d take comfort in your small quiet moments. Wether it’s just laying in each others arms for the night or a slight touch as you pass one another on the way to the game hall.
* He’d Avoid drawing attention to himself or to you, preferring that you both try blending into the background and observing the competition.
* He often takes your hand rubbing it in his, you think it’s to calm you down but truthfully it’s to calm himself.
* When the second round of mini games starts Giyu would choose to play gongi he recalls his sister playing it with him when he was younger and he did extremely well.
* Giyu’s devotion to you would shine through in quiet but impactful ways: He’d protect you from emotional and physical stress, ensuring you were prepared for each game and providing reassurance when the tensions grew.
* In physical challenges, he’d act as your personal shield, taking risks to ensure your survival. He’d subtly guide you through the games requiring strategy, using his analytical mind to predict outcomes and plan their moves together.
* in the game “mingle” Giyu and you both trust each other enough to let one another get split up, confident in the other’s ability to group up and stay alive.
* Giyu would also keep a close eye on potential threats, ready to intervene if anyone targeted you or him. While he wouldn’t seek out confrontation, his quiet intensity would be enough to deter most aggressors.
* Though Giyu rarely expresses his emotions openly, the stress of the games and the danger to you would weigh heavily on him. His love for you would serve as both a source of strength and vulnerability, pushing him to make sacrifices he might not otherwise consider. He’d likely blame himself for any close calls or mistakes, but your presence would help him stay grounded.
“Stay vigilant, and be careful who you trust. We have each other, we really don’t need anyone else.”
Iguro Obanai:
* During the first game Obanai’s precise movements and calm demeanor would make this game relatively straightforward for him. He would carefully time his movements, advancing only when the doll’s voice and head movements were predictable. He’d ensure you moved at the same speed as him, keeping you calm and signaling when it was safe to advance. If you struggled, he’d guide you verbally or physically.
* Obanai would likely remain composed but tense, his mistrustful nature making him hyper vigilant. He’d quickly assess the situation, recognizing the seriousness of the games. His immediate focus would be on ensuring your safety while trying to find weaknesses in other players and the game’s structure.
* Against your wishes he’s already sorting out the weak from the strong.
* Voting to stay (O): Like Sanemi, Obanai recalls he’s here for a reason, and that reason is to win money and get out of debt, and he’s confident he can get you both to the end alive.
* Obanai’s sharp intellect, agility, and stealth would make him an great player. He’d approach each game with precision, treating it as a battlefield where strategy and timing were key.
* He insists you sleep in the same bed, he can’t sleep unless you are there with him.
* In the mini games he’d choose to do Gongi, The gongi game’s reliance on timing would be a strong suit for Obanai. He’d use his quick reflexes to scoop and catch the pieces efficiently, keeping control.
* during your chosen mini game he’d keep encouraging you softly, giving subtle touches on your back and shoulder just to let you know he’s there with you.
* He’d keep a low profile, avoiding unnecessary attention and conflicts while carefully observing other players for potential threats.
* He has a sharp tongue, it’s just his nature. Whenever he hears other players say something he finds stupid he can’t help but make a sarcastic remark almost landing him in many fights until you swoop in and break it up.
* His snake companion, Kaburamaru, could provide subtle advantages, like scouting or detecting traps, depending on the game.
* during the game “mingle” He’d struggle to pair with others but would rely on you to help navigate social dynamics. He’d observe players carefully, seeking out those who seemed trustworthy or capable, though he’d approach alliances cautiously.
* Obanai’s devotion to you would drive all his decisions. He’d stay physically close to you during games, positioning himself between you and danger and offer quiet advice or encouragement, helping you remain calm and focused.
* His mistrust of others would mean he’d avoid alliances unless absolutely necessary. Even then, he’d be wary, ensuring that no one could exploit or harm you.
* The games would take a toll on Obanai emotionally. His deep love for you, combined with the high stakes, would amplify his anxiety. He’d likely internalize his fears, appearing stoic outwardly while silently carrying the weight of your survival.
“Stay close to me and don’t go wondering off, we don’t know these people. We can’t trust them.”
Tengen Uzui:
* During the first game, Tengen’s exceptional reflexes would make this game almost effortless for him. He’d move confidently even using the opportunity to scout potential threats among the players. He’d keep you close, making sure you are always behind him and offering encouragement or assistance if you started to feel afraid or discouraged.
* Lays with you in bed and runs his fingers through your hair to calm you down.
* Tengen would unfortunately view the chaos of the games as a flashy spectacle, He’d immediately assess the situation with his usual composure, quickly figuring out strategies to navigate the games.
* While outwardly flamboyant and seemingly unbothered, Tengen would be hyper-focused on analyzing the games and players, ensuring you both stayed ahead.
* He’d hide any fear or anxiety to keep you calm, using his charisma and humor to ease the tension.
* Voting to stay (O): Tengen is a flashy man, and he definitely has the over confidence to think he’s taking all that money home with you both no issue. He insures you he will protect you and that You both are making it out alive.
* When choosing a mini game Tengen goes for spinning top, he thinks it’s simple, and he truthfully just thought the top looked the “most flashy” in his opinion.
* Tengen’s combination of physical strength, strategic thinking, and charm would make him one of the strongest players. His ability to adapt to any situation and use his theatrical personality to manipulate others would set him apart.
* During mingle Tengen’s got a constant hold on you, he would tear people out of a room if it meant keeping you both safe.
* Tengen would ensure your survival above all else, using his strength, speed, and charm to shield you both from danger. His confidence and playful demeanor would help you stay calm and focused, even in the direst situations.
“Don’t cry Angel, I’m a god remember? I’ll keep you safe.”
Kyojuro Rengoku:
* During the first game, Kyojuro’s sharp reflexes and discipline would make this game pretty easy. He’d move confidently, never doubting his ability to stop in time.
* His hand is not leaving your wrist. You will be next to him for this game and all the others.
* Kyojuro is a lover before he’s anything, his whole reason for being here was to make up for all his debt so he could care for you.
* He would genuinely be shocked and angered by the brutality of the games, he’s kind hearted and this all feels so unfair. He’d keep his head up and try to encourage others and protect you at all costs.
* Voting to leave (X): Kyojuro is getting you both out of there. Watching other people die playing games for money is messed up, but you being in there is too much for him.
* Out of the mini games he’s pick Ddakji. Kyojuro’s physical strength and precision would give him an edge. He’d approach the game with enthusiasm, treating it like a test of his skill.
* During Mingle you can forget about splitting up. As stated before he’s always got a hand on you.
* He’d form alliances with trustworthy players, ensuring the both of you were part of a strong group. He’d use his persuasive nature to protect you from being left out or targeted.
* Kyojuro’s combination of physical strength, strategic thinking, and unshakable optimism would make him one of the strongest participants in the games. He’s genuinely kind and would definitely earn allies, while his determination and strength would keep you both safe.
“Stay calm little flame, we are going to be okay. Stay behind me, I’m going to keep you safe.”

Chapter One, Chapter Two, Chapter Three, Chapter Four, Chapter Five.
Y/N Perspective.
It was finally the day, the day I’d leave with Tamayo and Yushiro to search for Giyu Tomioka. Kyojuro had sulked all morning, his mood dark despite granting me permission. Apparently, agreeing doesn’t mean acting mature about it.
I stopped by his den, knowing I wouldn’t see him for a while. Which… would be strange, considering I’ve gotten used to seeing him almost every day.
I ran my fingers through the thick fur between his ears, gently massaging. His tail coiled around my thigh, pulling me closer, as he leaned into my touch like a cat.
“I don’t want you to go,” his voice, low and resonant, echoed around us. “Stay here with me. Forget this nonsense of traveling. I’ll keep you warm, and fulfilled… you know I can.” His words dripped with persuasion.
I smiled softly, tracing the edges of his ears. “I’ll be back soon, you know that. Time will fly by, I promise,” I tried, my voice tender, though the reassurance felt weak.
His ears twitched, flattening with frustration. “My mate is leaving me… for who knows how long. I’ll miss you.”
My heart clenched, unfamiliar pain filling the space between us. I had never seen him like this, it’s more of a sad begging than an anger.
I continued to stroke the soft fur along his head and shoulders, pressing gentle kisses between his eyes and on his forehead. His purring and soft clicks were a small comfort, a sign that I was soothing him. When I pulled back to look at him, though, his expression still seemed sad. It was hard to believe that this was the same cryptid monster that scared half the world. Right now, he looked more like a big, heartbroken puppy.
“I have to go, Kyojuro… but I promise I’ll be back soon! And when I return, I’ll bring so many food offerings, you won’t know what to do with them all.” I smiled brightly, hoping to lift his mood.
It worked. His ears perked up, and that familiar sharp, toothy grin spread across his face.
“You… you really mean it?” His voice had a spark of excitement.
I laughed, unable to resist how cute he was in this moment. “Of course! I promise.”
Suddenly, his tail coiled around my waist, pulling me up to his height until we were eye-to-eye. He pressed his forehead against mine, the touch warm and intimate.
“You will come back to me,” he murmured, his tone soft but commanding. “I won’t let you stay away for long. You are mine… my mate. I don’t want anything else to try and take you away.”
His voice was gentle but firm, leaving no room for argument. Not that I wanted to. The truth was, I wasn’t planning to run.
I know now, I’m falling in love with this cryptid, I’m falling in love with kyojuro…
I felt his tail tighten around my waist, and his teeth grazed my skin in warning nips.
“Just hold still,” he growled low, the rumble vibrating against me.
Before I had time to process, a sharp, burning pain shot through me as his teeth sank into the flesh where my neck met my shoulder. I gasped, my fingers clutching the fur on his shoulders, holding on as the sting pulsed through me. After a moment, he withdrew, licking the blood from his lips.
“Forgive me, little human,” he murmured, his tone almost tender. “But I need my marks fresh before you go. My scent must linger.”
I nodded weakly. No matter how many times he did this, it never got easier. But if it meant he’d let me go, I wasn’t going to fight him. I’d just have to cover it up with my clothes and bandages later.
He leaned in, licking the blood from my neck and shoulder, his touch both cleaning and claiming.
“Go now,” he commanded softly, his voice lingering in my ear. “But don’t take too long. Tomioka may not be the most vicious monster… but he’s not one to underestimate.”
“I understand,” I replied, managing a small smile. “I’ll keep my guard up.”
His gaze lingered on me for a long moment before his grip loosened, and he set me gently back down.
“Farewell, my mate. Be careful,” he said, his voice softened now, almost vulnerable.
I gave him one last reassuring smile before turning to leave the den, the weight of his gaze still on me as I walked away. As I made my way back to the safe house, the tension in my chest slowly eased.
When I arrived, Tamayo and Yushiro were busy preparing medical supplies.
Yushiro glanced up as I emerged from the woods, his expression a mix of confusion and irritation.
“What the hell were you doing out there? You should be helping us pack,” he snapped, his voice laced with annoyance.
“Sorry… just doing some last-minute searching,” I said, chuckling awkwardly.
That was such a terrible excuse…
“Searching? For what, exactly?” he scoffed, clearly unconvinced.
“It doesn’t matter,” Tamayo cut in, her tone gentle but firm. “Y/N, go finish gathering the rest of the supplies.”
I silently thanked her for the save and hurried inside to help with the packing, the dull ache in my shoulder still nagging at me.
————————
Once everything was loaded up, we set out on the road. Climbing uphill, lugging bags full of supplies. This was definitely the last thing I wanted to be doing.
The air grew colder as we traveled further north, though it wasn’t unbearable yet. Still, it made me miss Kyojuro’s warmth, the way he’d wrap himself around me, engulfing me in his heat, making even the coldest nights bearable.
But for now, I pressed on. I made small talk with Tamayo and Yushiro, though the conversation mostly revolved around Giyu Tomioka and what we might face if we encountered him.
If I’m being honest, the thought made me nervous. As Kyojuro’s mate, Tomioka would undoubtedly pick up on his scent, a fellow Hashira’s scent. What concerned me was how he’d react. Would he respect it… or take it as a challenge?
The journey to our destination took about three days. We had to camp out multiple times and take frequent breaks because of the brutal weather. The northern shore was nestled in one of the most inconvenient, hard to reach places.
And this “beach” was anything but inviting. Jagged rocks in place of sand, a gloomy atmosphere hanging over us, and a biting chill in the air. It was a stark contrast to Kyojuro’s warm, vibrant territory.
But then I reminded myself: Giyu Tomioka is known as “The Kraken Hybrid.” A place like this, dark and cold, made far more sense for him than any forest ever would.
“We’re at the heart of it now,” Tamayo announced, her voice cutting through the wind. “We’ll set up camp and the research stations here.”
Yushiro and I exchanged a glance and got to work, picking a spot close enough to keep an eye on the waters but far enough from the high tides that we wouldn’t be caught off guard.
Our setup was decent, but Tamayo hadn’t mentioned how long she planned to stay here. Given the conditions, I hoped it wouldn’t be long.
I was debating whether to head out on my own to try and find Tomioka. With Kyojuro’s scent still on me, he’d be more likely to approach if I was alone. I didn’t want a repeat of what happened in Shinazugawa’s territory, these monsters are cautious around groups. It’s the same with Kyojuro. There’s no way he wasn’t aware of Tamayo’s safe house at the edge of his forest. He had to have known.
Tamayo’s spent her life researching and hunting these creatures, yet none of them have ever come near her. I don’t understand it. Still, I’m determined to bring her something, proof that her years of hard work weren’t all based on conspiracies and old folklore.
I’m hopeful. If we just keep looking, we’ll find something.
It took the rest of the evening to set everything up, and by the time we finished, we were all exhausted. Tamayo eventually sent Yushiro and me to fish by the shoreline. As usual, the silence between us was heavy, almost awkward. I never understood why she was so insistent on pairing us together for tasks like this.
When we got back with our catch, we started a small fire and cooked the fish. Surprisingly, it tasted pretty good, though I couldn’t help but think how much better it would’ve been with the right herbs and spices.
“We’ll rest tonight and begin our search tomorrow,” Tamayo said as we ate. “I want to stay for at least four days, long enough to find something of value.”
Yushiro glanced up from his food. “None of us are familiar with this territory. Where exactly do we start?”
Tamayo paused, considering his question for a moment before responding. “We’ll split up. Y/N, you’ll take one side of the shore, and Yushiro will take the other. Go as far as you can. I’ll cover the beach and the cliffs.”
I looked at her, concern creeping in. “Are you sure that’s safe? That’s a lot of ground to cover on your own.”
She smiled softly, her eyes calm but resolute. “I’ll be fine. You two focus on the shoreline. Pay attention to the water, if there’s any sign of activity, report it. We’ll meet back here before sunset.”
“Understood.” I nodded, but as I stared down at my lap, a dull sting pulsed in my shoulder. Kyojuro’s mark was deeper this time, more intense than usual. Even now, I could still feel the lingering burn of his claim.
I did my best to ignore the ache of the cold as we settled in for the night. The chill seemed to cut deeper out here; Kyojuro’s warm den had really spoiled me.
The ocean’s steady rhythm was soothing, the waves crashing, the wind sweeping through. If only it weren’t so cold, I could almost imagine this place as paradise.
By morning, the sun barely touched the sky. This place seemed locked in a gloomy haze, with a heavy, off-putting atmosphere hanging over everything.
Yushiro and I followed Tamayo’s plan, starting from the center of the shoreline and walking in opposite directions. It was growing frustrating. No matter how far I walked or how long I looked, there was nothing. no sign, no trace, nothing to even hint that something might be lurking here. I found myself scanning the waves for anything, but the ocean remained silent.
This went on for two days. Each morning, we repeated the same routine, and each evening we returned to camp empty-handed. Yushiro’s patience was thinning with each frigid, uneventful day. He’d begun pestering Tamayo to abandon the search early and return home.
But I was convinced we would find something. We had to. I knew these creatures were real. And Giyu Tomioka was out there somewhere.
As the day slipped into night quickly. I sat by the fire, restless and frustrated as Tamayo and Yushiro slept. Was the Kraken Hybrid really this elusive?
Unable to shake the feeling, I rose from my sleeping bag and wandered down to the shoreline, watching the stars scatter across the sky. For all the cloudiness in the mornings, the night sky was surprisingly clear, blanketed in starlight.
I paced along the familiar stretch of beach I’d walked each morning, trying to clear my mind. Of course, Tomioka wasn’t going to just reveal himself to a group of human hunters. He wasn’t foolish, but his ability to stay hidden was annoying.
I walked until the glow of our campfire faded into the distance. Just as I decided to turn back, a splash broke the quiet of the ocean. I whipped my head toward the sound, my heart leaping as I watched ripples spreading across the water. That was no wave… what was it?
Before I could react, something slick and cold wrapped around my ankle. I looked down, my stomach twisting as I saw what looked like a tentacle coiling tightly around me. Then, with a sudden, forceful pull, I was yanked off my feet, hitting the gravelly shore before plunging into the freezing water.
Panic seized me. Saltwater stung my eyes, blurring my vision, but I forced them open. A pair of deep blue eyes stared back at me, unblinking, intense, a stoic gaze that sent a shiver through me despite the water’s chill.
My lungs burned, my heart racing as I tried to pull myself together. I needed air. Desperately, I struggled, kicking hard and paddling toward the surface.
Finally, I broke free, gasping and coughing, my throat raw from the saltwater. My nose ran, my eyes were bloodshot, and my limbs ached from the struggle. But as I gulped down fresh air, I realized something with a strange, thrilling certainty.
I had just encountered Giyu Tomioka.
Shit.
I struggled to paddle toward the shore, my lungs heaving as I gulped for air. The shock of the icy water set my body trembling.
I barely had a moment before another slick tentacle wound around my wrist, followed by another around my ankle, pulling me back. I turned, eyes widening as a dark figure began to emerge from the depths, moving closer to the shore, water cascading down its form.
As my vision cleared, I took him in. Long hair, dark as midnight, framed a face with eyes as deep and cold as the ocean itself. His upper body was muscular, almost human, though gills lined his abdomen. But his lower half tentacles, thick and sinuous, replaced what should have been legs. Despite his stoic expression, he was… beautiful, in a chilling, otherworldly way.
“Why are you here?” he asked, his voice low, resonant.
I hesitated, my mind scrambling for the right words. “My name is Y/N L/N. I’m… a researcher.” That sounded better than ‘hunter.’ “I’m here with—”
His gaze swept over me, his tentacles tightening around my limbs, pinning me effortlessly.
“No… that’s not who you are,” he murmured, his eyes narrowing as he focused on my neck, where Kyojuro’s mark lay hidden beneath my shirt.
“You’re Rengoku’s mate,” he said flatly, a hint of distaste in his tone. “I can smell him all over you. So, tell me, what business does his mate have this far from his territory? You’re miles beyond his borders.” His voice took on a harder edge, and a flicker of irritation crossed his face.
I took a deep breath, steeling myself. He knows who I am, and he definitely doesn’t look thrilled about it.
“Yes, I know I’m far from where I’m supposed to be. But I wasn’t lying, I really am a researcher. And as you’ve probably already guessed, I’m not alone here. To keep it brief, I’m here with my team to prove your existence.”
He blinked, expression blank, then raised a brow. “And you expect me to just expose myself to humans? To become some exhibit in the name of ‘research?’” His voice sharpened, irritation clear.
Damn it. Why was I phrasing this so badly?
“N-no, that’s not what I mean!” I stammered. “We’re only looking for proof that monsters once existed… without disturbing any of you.” I tried to explain, but my words still sounded flimsy.
He tilted his head slightly, watching me intently.
“We’re searching for evidence, anything to show that the guardians of this world weren’t just myths,” I added, my voice betraying my nerves.
“So, you trekked all the way here just to prove I exist?” he asked, his tone skeptical.
I nodded. “Yes. I mean, I know about the Hashira… obviously, since I’m Kyojuro’s mate. But—”
“But you couldn’t sell him out,” he interrupted, his gaze piercing. “Not even for the sake of ‘research,’ could you?”
I let out a sigh, feeling both frustrated and exposed. Was I really that easy to read?
He studied me with an unsettling intensity, his deep blue eyes flickering with something unreadable. His grip didn’t loosen, the tentacles wrapped around my wrist and ankle holding firm.
"How foolish," he finally said, voice low and cold. “Humans always believe they can wade into waters they don’t belong in and remain unscathed. Do you even truly understand what you're meddling with?"
"I… I think I do," I said, trying to keep my voice steady, though my pulse was pounding in my ears. "We don’t want to interfere; we’re just searching for traces, something to prove that monsters, your kind… existed. It’s about respecting history, preserving the truth.”
He gave a quiet scoff, his grip tightening, almost like he was testing my strength. "History. Truth. Words humans cling to when they’re desperate for answers. But do you really want to know the truth?" He leaned closer, his breath brushing my skin like a cold breeze. “What will you do when you find it, human? What will you do when it terrifies you? It appears Rengoku has not told you enough. That alone is concerning.”
What, What does that mean?
My mouth went dry, but I held his gaze. "I’ll face it. Because… some of us still believe in what you once were. Guardians. Protectors."
He stilled, his expression hard to read, but something softened in his eyes, a flicker of surprise.
“You think we still carry that purpose? That we owe humans anything?” His voice was a mix of bitterness and curiosity, a quiet challenge in his tone.
I swallowed, choosing my words carefully. “I think… your existence isn’t owed to anyone. But maybe there’s a reason you’re still here, and maybe we’re meant to remember that reason.”
He looked at me for a long moment, his face unreadable, then released a deep sigh, as though weary.
“Fine. Out of peace and my small remaining of respect for Rengoku. You and your group can stay… for now,” he said at last, his voice almost a reluctant murmur. “But you’ll find nothing else. That will have to make do for you.” His tentacles released me, revealing the suction marks on my arm and leg.
I nodded, a small flicker of relief sparking in my chest, even as my heart still raced.
“Don’t return here with such a foolish reason. Rengoku and I have a truce but it would be irresponsible to abuse it,” he warned, his grip easing as he let me go, leaving my skin cold without his touch. “I’ll be watching. And if I sense even a hint of disrespect, I will not be so forgiving. You and your people will leave soon. I don’t wish to see you return any time soon.” He spoke coldly.
“Yes… I understand.” I finally manage to choke out.
His blue eyes glowed in the night.
"Y/N L/N," he murmured, his voice cold and unyielding, "you’d be wise to tread carefully. There are other Hashira who would not be as… forgiving, so long as you bear that mark. If Rengoku has led you to believe he has no enemies, then he’s as much of a liar as I remember."
With that, he slipped back into the waves, the dark water swallowing him until there was nothing left but silence.
I stood there, reeling. His words echoed in my mind, unsettling and sharp.
A liar? Kyojuro? No… that can’t be right. Kyojuro may be fierce, even terrifying to some, but he’s also warm, compassionate, and always so… open. Sure, he has his intense side, his possessive moments, but a liar? He’s never seemed anything but honest, at least with me. Or so I’d thought.
I glanced down at my wrist, the fresh marks from his tentacles still vivid. I had to play this off right, I was soaked, freezing, and shaken after encountering Tomioka, so it wouldn’t be hard to look convincing. I hurried back to camp.
“Tamayo! Yushiro!” I called out, rushing toward the fire where they were sleeping.
Yushiro grumbled, half-asleep, while Tamayo sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes. "What’s going on, Y/N?" she asked, her voice still groggy.
I knelt down in front of her, catching my breath, and held up my wrist. Tamayo’s eyes widened as she took in the marks, my drenched clothes, and my shivering frame. She reached for my hand, her smile growing with every detail.
Yushiro finally woke up, blinking in surprise as he noticed the marks on my wrist. Shock and disbelief crossed his face.
Tamayo quickly ushered me into the tent. “Come now, let’s get you warmed up and take a closer look at these!”
Inside, she helped me out of my soaked clothes and handed me a dry blanket. She lit a lantern, inspecting the marks on my wrist and leg while scribbling excitedly in her notebook.
“Did he speak to you? Why did he grab you? Was he angry?” she asked, her questions coming rapid-fire.
I explained that I’d gone for a walk because I couldn’t sleep and had wandered too close to the sea. “I think… he may have thought I was prey or something,” I added, as casually as I could manage.
Tamayo nodded, jotting down every word with satisfaction, pausing only for a few follow up questions. Seeing her so pleased was a relief. After all the times I’d come back empty handed, I’d finally managed to make her happy. That, at least, felt like a victory.
——————-
The hike back felt just as awful and exhausting as the one coming in. Our journey home took nearly as long as our initial trek, with the weight of the distance settling heavily on my shoulders. Tamayo was eager to return and report her findings, while I couldn’t shake the anticipation of finally seeing Kyojuro. I missed him, more than I cared to admit, but there were now new questions I needed answered.
When we finally reached the cabin, we were greeted by a few of the other hunters. I helped Tamayo and Yushiro unload, my mind already drifting to the promise I made to Kyojuro. Food offerings. I couldn’t come back empty handed. he’d make such a fuss if I did. And the last thing I needed was for him to get all upset and pouty.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I finished helping and excused myself to the kitchen. I carefully prepared the offerings, making sure to include all his favorites. My heart raced a little as I arranged them, the thought of him looming over every movement.
Surely he would be pleased with these. I was gone what? Around a week two weeks total? That’s quite a while, but I got his permission, so he can’t be too angry with me.
As I slipped quietly back into the woods, I glanced down at my wrist. The marks from Tomioka's tentacles had faded, but they were still visible, a subtle reminder of what had passed. Of course, Kyojuro would notice them. He had a knack for being... dramatic when it came to anything remotely concerning me. I could trip and scrape my knee, and he’d insist on us cuddling for what felt like hours, as if that alone would make everything better.
Am I complaining? Maybe a little. But, deep down, I know I shouldn’t. After all, at least he wasn’t a heartless monster.
The forest path seemed to stretch on forever as I made my way back to the den. But the moment I stepped inside, the familiar clicking began. Slowly, Kyojuro emerged from the shadows, his crimson eyes glowing in the dark, a sharp, predatory smile spreading across his face. I set down the food I was holding, and smile at him happily.
"My little human, my mate! You’ve returned!" His voice rumbled with delight, and before I could react, his tail wrapped tightly around my waist, pulling me in close.
He sniffed eagerly, his nose brushing against my chest before he nuzzled into me, demanding affection. And, of course, I gave in, my fingers running through his fur as he purred loudly, tail tightening possessively around me.
"You smell like the ocean," he growled lowly, his voice thick with something primal. The intensity of his gaze never wavered as he held me in his embrace.
I could feel the warmth of his body radiating through the layers of my clothing, the undeniable presence of him filling the space around us. His scent, a mixture of fire and earth, was comforting in its own way, grounding me after the long journey. But the ocean, he couldn’t stand the trace of salt and waves that clung to me after my time with Giyu.
"You know," I murmured, my fingers still tracing the curve of his tail, "it’s not like I went swimming in the ocean. Just a little... coastal air."
His growl deepened, almost playful now, as if he didn’t quite believe me. "Coastal air, hm?" His eyes gleamed in the dim light, as though he could smell the exact essence of what had happened, and every part of him was keenly aware of it. His grip on me tightened, but not in anger, more like a quiet claim, a silent assertion that I was his, no matter where I’d been.
Kyojuro pulled back slightly, his gaze still locked on me as he gave a slow, exaggerated sniff of the air. “I can still smell him.” His voice was steady, but the tension in his tone was unmistakable.
I sighed inwardly, but I didn’t try to pull away. “Kyojuro... it’s not like that. Tomioka just—”
“Tomioka,” he interrupted, his voice turning sharper, though his hands were gentle as he cupped my face. “I see he hasn’t the common decency to not touch what not his.” His gaze shifts down to my wrist, though there was a flicker of possessiveness beneath the surface. “But you’re mine. Always.”
There it was again, that crazy intensity. That overwhelming, fierce loyalty that I both feared and craved. The way he could consume every thought, every moment, with just a glance. I tried to breathe past the lump in my throat, but the reality of his words settled over me, heavy and consuming.
“I’m yours,” I whispered, not even needing to say it to reassure him, but more to remind myself.
His sharp smile returned, his tail loosening its grip just enough to allow me to breathe fully again. “Good,” he purred, the possessiveness in his voice morphing into something deeper, more intimate. “Because I don’t share.”
Oh fuck…how did that sentence send shivers down my spine?
He leaned in, his face so close to mine, and I couldn’t help it, my hands slid over the fur on his shoulders, drawing him closer. His growl deepened as his tongue flicked over my bottom lip, his teeth grazing over the skin, sending sparks through me. And when he finally sealed our lips together, I melted into the kiss. It was fierce, possessive, overwhelming... all the things he was and more.
I had missed this, these moments of pure abandon. He knew exactly what to do to make me moan, what to make me lose myself in the moment. And by the time we broke apart, I was breathless and trembling, my core aching with need.
"Did you miss me?" he asked, the low echo in his voice was smooth and low, his tone already turning dark and filthy. "Is my mate craving something?" His voice rumbled through the air.
And fuck, I couldn't lie, i didn’t want to just give in so quickly, I wanted to pretend that I hadn't missed him this much, that I didn't want him. But I did, oh God how I did.
“Yes,” I admitted, barely above a whisper. “I want you, Kyojuro.”
He let out a low growl, a purr rumbling through his chest. “Good human,” he murmured against my neck now, his claws already moving to my pants. “You know how I feel about these obnoxious clothes you wear…. Take them off.” He didn’t wait for my answer, his mouth trailing down my neck, nipping and biting at my skin, making my heart beat fast.
"Take off your clothes now," he demanded again, his sharp claws pulled at my pants as I fumbled to untie them. "And let me see you." The command in his voice sent shivers down my body.
I did as he asked, shedding the rest of my clothes until I was completely naked in front of him. He stepped back and let out a sharp growl of approval before his clawed fingers ran up my thighs, my ass. And he finally wrapped his whole hand around my waist.
His touch burned over my skin, searing in its intensity. My breath caught as he firmly held me, pulling me closer until the heat of his cock pressed against me. The softness of his fur rubbed against me, making my skin tingle. I shivered in his arms, my pulse racing as his hands and tail explored my body. But he was too skilled, too attuned to my needs. It didn’t take long for me to find myself writhing in his grasp, aching for him.
"Please," I whispered. "Kyojuro, please—"
He stilled, and for a moment, I thought he’d just keep teasing me. Then he leaned in, nipping at my ear with a low growl.
“Look at that,” he breathed, his voice rough and thick with need. “My little human, desperate for my cock.” His tail wrapped around my thigh, lifting me up and positioning me just where he wanted. “Don’t worry, my mate, I’ll make it feel so good. I'll fill you with my seed until you're full of my scent. No more salt and ocean. Just me.” And with that, he thrust his thick cock into me roughly, making me cry out in surprise.
His girth stretched me so wide it hurt. He was merciless, holding me up and pounding me hard, my body struggling to accommodate him due to our time apart. My breasts bounced with each thrust, and the sound of my wetness echoed around the den, it was both humiliating and arousing.
"You’re so wet," he rumbled, his breath hot against my ear. "You love this, don’t you? My little human missed me." He nipped at my ear, his tongue running over the lobe. "Taking my cock. Being mine. You’ll never be full of any other’s scent. Not when you’re my mate.” His hands tightened, gripping me so hard, there would no doubt be bruises later.
He didn’t let me reply, his lips claiming mine as he fucked me. My mind blurred, my body consumed by the pleasure. He wasn’t gentle, not this time, and I loved him for it. He fucked me hard and rough, using my body for his pleasure. But he also knew every spot to hit, every spot that would send me over the edge.
“I wanted to be gentle with you,” he growled between thrusts. “But after not seeing you for so long, I just can’t hold back.”
The click of his voice vibrated against my skin.
And the orgasm, oh God, it built quick. There was no slowing it down, no stopping it, as it crested and crashed through me, leaving me screaming into the darkness. He didn’t stop fucking me though, not until I'd come multiple times on his cock.
Finally, when I couldn’t take it anymore and my body trembled from exhaustion, he pulled out. His tail released its hold on me, letting me slide down to my knees, where I fell onto the soft ground, my legs weak.
He stood over me, panting softly, his cock still hard. His eyes gleamed as they roved over my body before he leaned over me and gripped my hips, forcing me onto my fours.
“I know you are tired beautiful human… but I’m afraid I’m not satisfied.” His tail wrapped around my ankle and pulled my legs apart.
I could hear his low chuckle as I tried to catch my breath. “This hole has never been used before…” I felt his tongue lick up my ass. My eyes widen and my body shivered. No way… he was not about to— “It looks so good all pink and wet.” I moaned as he lapped at my rim. “You want me here?” he asked with a chuckle.
"Kyojuro," I gasped, my breath coming short. "No...please, you can’t."
His laughter only deepened, his large hands spreading my cheeks roughly apart. “It’s not for my own pleasure. My mate needs to be fully claimed by me. You smell like ocean, so it must be done,” he said as he pressed his tongue against my rim, teasing it in a way that made me cry out and writhe in his hold.
He kept up that torture for what felt like an age. Licking my ass, his tongue sliding through my cum as he used it to lubricate my rim, sliding it in and out slowly. I squirmed and whimpered, overwhelmed, and his low growls only grew more pleased.
Then, once my rim was nice and stretched out, he finally stood over me again, his cock hovering over my ass. He pushed the tip inside of me, and I cried out, my body trying to clench down.
"It’s okay, my mate," he murmured softly, his voice gentler now. “It’ll sting a bit at first but I’ll take care of you.” His hands stroked my back gently and he slowly pushed his cock deeper inside of me.
I clenched down, trying to stop the pain, but he kept pushing. He stretched my ass out wide with his thickness, filling me so completely I felt I might burst. My whimpers and cries filled the air as I struggled to bare the sensation, even as it was edged with pleasure.
But when he was finally seated fully in my ass, my body gave into the sensation and I moaned, my muscles relaxing.
He let out a deep growl and wrapped his tail around my body, pulling me back against him as he started to move. "This feels amazing," he rasped, he purred, clicking loudly in pleasure.
I felt full and tight, every thrust making me writhe and clench down on his cock, the pleasure mingling with the pain in a way that was maddening. But I didn’t have the ability to think, not while his tail wrapped around my body, holding me in place as he fucked my ass.
He began to move faster, my moans and his growls echoing through the den now. His tail tightened around my waist and his teeth sunk into my neck. I felt him grow thicker inside of me and then I felt him fill my ass with his seed.
"Fuck! It’s so warm and wet..." he growled, his moans growing more desperate as he kept emptying his cum inside of me. The sound of it dripping out of my ass filled the den. I felt his knot expand keeping what could be contained inside of me. I tried to clench down but he held my body still as he continued to come. I moaned and wiggled in his grasp.
"You’re mine," he growled deeply. "I can’t share you with anyone."
And with that, he held me there, his cock still buried deep in my ass, until his knot finally released and he collapsed next to me on the ground. I was exhausted from his fucking, and my body ached in the most delicious way.
He pulled out of my ass, making me gasp as his cum only spilled out of me more. He wrapped me in his tail and nuzzled his face in my neck.
"Sleep little human," he growled softly. "I’ll take good care of you, always."
I felt him pick me up, carrying me to our nest. He laid me down and wrapped around me, holding me securely. This was the warmth I had missed. Despite my body being so sore and exhausted, I was completely blissed out.
I fell into a deep sleep knowing I was safe, knowing I was loved, and knowing he’d always protect me. And the ocean would no longer be a problem. Not after Kyojuro had me all to himself. I smiled, snuggling in his arms.
————————
When I finally awoke, it was to him licking my neck. "Good morning, my little human," he purred. His claws slid through my hair.
I rub my eyes opening them slightly to adjust to the light. The sun had risen, and its warmth filtered through the trees.
"Did you sleep well?" he asked, his voice a soft rumble.
"Yeah," I answered, still groggy. "How long have you been awake?"
"A while," he chuckled. "I wanted to make sure you got enough rest." I sighed, feeling relaxed and content. But as I shifted, a dull ache throbbed through me.
"Your body will be sore for a few days," he said, a hint of satisfaction in his voice. "You took me so well. It makes me proud to have such a good mate."
"Thanks," I mumbled. "I guess."
"Are you hungry?" he asked, changing the subject.
"Yeah, a little," I said, stretching.
Kyojuro’s eyes gleamed, his tail curling around my leg possessively as he shifted to sit up, still keeping me close. “Good. I’ll catch us something fresh,” he said, the hint of a playful smirk tugging at his lips. “But don’t you move a muscle. Rest those sore limbs. I’ll be back in no time.”
I watched him rise, his form lit by the morning sun as he stretched, flexing his muscles with a lazy confidence. “What about the offerings I made you, we could just eat those.” I suggest.
He chuckled lowly and shook his head. “As much as I love you my mate. You made those offerings for me. And if there’s one thing I won’t share with you… it’s the gifts you bring me.” He smiled playfully his tail wagging almost like a dog.
He gave me one last intense look, as if memorizing every detail before he turned, disappearing into the woods.
Left alone, I sank back into our nest, feeling the lingering warmth he’d left behind. My body was sore, as he’d warned, but there was something comforting about the ache, a reminder of just how much we’d missed each other. The birds were chirping, and a soft breeze drifted through the trees, rustling the leaves. I closed my eyes, letting myself be lulled by the forest’s quiet rhythm, still wrapped in the warmth of last night’s memory.
Before long, the sound of Kyojuro’s footsteps drew closer. I opened my eyes as he emerged from the shadows, carrying fresh game in one hand, his eyes bright and eager. He set it down, then moved over to sit beside me again, his tail flicking with satisfaction. “Told you I’d be quick,” he said, as he leaned in to brush a stray strand of hair from my face.
“Impressive,” I murmured, smiling up at him.
He tilted his head, amber eyes softening as he took me in. “Impressive is having you back in my arms,” he murmured, voice lowering. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to keep you here.”
The intensity in his gaze sent a familiar flutter through me, that possessive spark still so alive and undeniable. And as I reached out to touch his hand, I knew the same warmth would pull me back, over and over again.
Kyojuro held both my hands in one of his as if they were the most fragile things ever, a completely contrast to the night before. He raised my hands to his face nuzzling against him, brushing a warm kiss across my knuckles. “I want you to feel safe, always,” he murmured, the conviction in his voice sending a shiver down my spine.
I squeezed his hand, taking in the steady heat of him, grounding me in the moment. “With you, I do,” I whispered. “It’s like… nothing could ever hurt me here.”
He smiled, a hint of pride flickering in his eyes. “That’s how it should be.” Then, with a playful tilt of his head, he added, “But I might need to remind you every now and then, just to be sure.”
I laughed softly, shaking my head. “Always so protective.”
“Of course,” he replied, a low rumble in his chest. “I’d fight the every monster in the world if they tried to take you from me.” He leaned in closer, his gaze unyielding. “You’re mine.”
The intensity in his voice stirred something deep inside me, a thrill mixed with reassurance. “And you’re mine,” I replied, reaching up to trace the line of his jaw, feeling the strength in his muscles as he leaned into my touch. “No one else, nothing else matters.”
His eyes softened, the fire in them shifting to something warm and tender. “Good,” he whispered, then bent down to press a lingering kiss against my forehead. “Now,” he said, his voice lighter, “how about some food? You’ll need your strength if we’re going to spend the day together.”
“Sounds perfect,” I replied, feeling a renewed warmth spreading through me.
I prepared the food over a small fire with practiced ease, never straying too far, as if I couldn’t bear to be away. And as we shared the meal, surrounded by the gentle sounds of the forest, I felt something settle within me—a deep, unshakeable peace, knowing I was exactly where I was meant to be.
The first few days back at Kyojuro’s den going back and forth like I usually did. The days were a whirlwind of passion and comfort. We spent hours exploring each other’s bodies, the weeks of separation making every touch feel new and electric. His fur was just as soft as I remembered, his eyes just as intense. And the way he’d hold me at night, his tail coiled around me, made me feel like I was home.
I knew I had to talk to him about Tomioka. I wanted to know the history between them. Tomioka said kyojuro had enemies, that he was a liar. And that part genuinely unsettled me. No matter how hard I tried to push it down.
The thought gnawed at me, even in moments of warmth and ease, like a shadow lurking just beyond the firelight. I had questions, and I needed answers.
One evening, as we lay entwined in our nest, his breathing slow and steady beside me, I finally gathered the courage. I shifted slightly, just enough for him to sense I was awake. He glanced down, eyes gleaming with that familiar, protective warmth, his arms wrapping tighter around me.
“Kyojuro,” I began, voice barely above a whisper. “Can we talk?”
“Of course,” he murmured, his expression softening. “Anything, my mate.”
I hesitated, searching his gaze, feeling the weight of the words I was about to say. “When I was with Tomioka… he mentioned things. He spoke of enemies you might have. That there were… conflicts, even lies.” My voice faltered as his eyes grew darker, the warmth in them receding.
He held my gaze for a long, tense moment, his expression unreadable. Finally, he sighed, a sound filled with something I couldn’t quite name, was it regret? Resignation? “Giyu…” He spoke his name like a wound he was trying to close. “He’s not wrong, not entirely. There are… old tensions among us, unspoken alliances and rivalries. The Hashira, we each walk our own path. Sometimes, those paths cross in ways that are less than ideal.”
I felt a chill, like a draft sneaking into the den. “And what about the lies?” I asked, unable to mask the tremor in my voice.
He closed his eyes briefly, his clawed thumb brushing my cheek in slow, soothing strokes. “There are things I’ve kept from you, yes, but not out of deception. I wanted you to feel safe here with me, untouched by the struggles I face.”
“But I need to know, Kyojuro,” I pressed, the urgency rising in my voice. “If there are things out there that could put us in danger, if there are people who’d come after you, don’t I deserve to know?”
A spark of pain flickered in his eyes, and he nodded, a reluctant acceptance settling over him. “Yes. You deserve to know everything.” He paused, his voice taking on a new gravity. “There are other Hashira who don’t agree with my… my methods, or the way I’ve have chosen to live my life. They see it as a corrupt, and wrong. Giyu is cautious, wary. He wanted to warn you, perhaps hoping you’d run away.”
The words struck me harder than I’d expected, and I found myself reaching for his hand, squeezing it tightly. “I’m not running away. No matter what.”
He smiled, the slightest edge of vulnerability showing in his fierce gaze. “I know you wouldn’t.” His clawed fingers traced my palm, lingering there, as if trying to reassure himself of my presence. “But if Giyu or anyone else threatens what we have… I won’t hesitate to protect you. Even if it means facing my past and the ones I once called allies.”
We fell silent, the weight of his confession settling between us, mingling with the night air. It was a silence heavy with truth, with the understanding that we were bound by forces beyond ourselves.
As he pulled me close, nuzzling against the top of my head, I felt the strength of his vow in every touch, every breath. And while uncertainty lingered, so too did an unbreakable trust, a quiet promise that, no matter the challenges, we would face them together.
The night deepened, a stillness settling over us that carried both comfort and an edge of unease. Kyojuro’s warmth enveloped me, his breath steady against my skin, and for a while, we lay in silence, just listening to each other’s heartbeats. I wanted to let go of my worries, to lose myself in the safety of his embrace, but Tomioka’s words still echoed in my mind, a reminder that nothing was as simple as I’d once thought.
As if sensing my thoughts, Kyojuro tightened his hold, his hand holding my back. “There’s more to it than even Giyu understands,” he murmured, breaking the silence. “I’ve had to make choices that others wouldn’t, things the other Hashira see as betrayals.”
“Betrayals?” I whispered, unsure if I wanted to know more, yet unable to stop myself from asking.
He nodded, a somber look in his eyes. “Not everyone agrees with the way I protect or take what’s mine. To them, I’m reckless. They don’t understand… that love isn’t a weakness. That it gives me strength.” His eyes softened, that fierce possessiveness tempered by a tenderness that left me breathless. “And that strength is why I’ll always protect you, even if it costs me.”
I reached up, my hand finding his cheek, and he leaned into my touch, his eyes slipping closed. “I don’t want you to give up everything just for me,” I whispered, my voice thick with emotion. “I don’t want you to be alone in this.”
“You’re here,” he replied, his voice a low rumble, the barest hint of a smile curving his lips. “That’s all I need.”
For a moment, it felt like nothing else mattered, that the forest around us, the Hashira, the threats they posed, all of it faded in the face of what we shared. But even as I held him close, I knew there were things left unsaid, truths lurking beneath the surface.
We spent the next few days in a fragile peace, an unspoken understanding passing between us. Kyojuro was attentive, almost more than usual, as if determined to make up for the tension between us. He brought me fresh food every morning, wrapped me in his warmth each night, and filled the hours between with quiet affection. His hands were always on me, grounding, reassuring, and in those moments, I almost forgot the dark clouds that loomed over us.
But the shadow of Tomioka’s warning still hung in the background, a persistent reminder that there were others out there who didn’t share Kyojuro’s loyalty. And one evening, as I watched him prowl the edge of the den, his gaze sharp and alert, I felt a pang of worry I couldn’t ignore.
“Kyojuro,” I called softly, breaking him from his vigil. He looked over, his eyes immediately softening as they met mine.
“Yes, my mate?” he asked, crossing the distance to sit beside me. His tail curled around me instinctively, pulling me close.
“Do you think… they’ll ever try to hurt us?” I asked, forcing the words out even though my heart clenched at the thought.
His jaw tightened, a shadow flickering across his expression. “I’d be lying if I said some of them wouldn’t try,” he admitted. “But they’d be fools to underestimate what I’d do to keep you safe.” His voice was low, deadly, a reminder of the strength that lay just beneath his warmth.
I nodded, finding comfort in his resolve, but a small part of me couldn’t shake the fear. “And if they come… will you tell me?” I asked, my gaze steady, my voice as firm as I could make it.
He hesitated, his fingers brushing over mine. “I’ll never leave you in the dark again,” he promised, his eyes searching mine with a sincerity that took my breath away. “We’ll face whatever comes together.”
As he pulled me into his arms, his words settled over me like a shield, a reminder that, no matter the dangers, we had each other. And though uncertainty lingered, for the first time, I felt a quiet sense of resolve, a strength that mirrored his, a fierce determination to stand by his side, no matter what.
In that moment, I knew that whatever lay ahead, I was ready.

Chapter One, Chapter Two, Chapter Three, Chapter Four,
Y/N Perspective.
I woke to the warmth of Kyojuro’s fur, his soft purrs reverberating in my ears as he slept. He was curled around me, his tail snugly wrapped around my waist, his clawed hands holding me close.
It felt like I was melting into his embrace.
But I couldn’t put this off any longer I had to talk to him about the journey. Time was slipping away, and I only had a few days to convince him to let me go.
I tried to slip out of his grasp, but he stirred, his tail tightening around my waist.
His red eyes snapped open, glowing with a stern intensity.
“Where are you going?” His voice was deeper now, as he was waking up.
I knew I had to tread carefully, Kyojuro could be incredibly stubborn. If I stayed calm, I might have a chance to sway him.
Gently, I stroked the fur between his ears, and he responded with a deep purr.
“I need to talk to you about something,” I said softly.
His ears perked slightly.
“What is it, my mate?” He opened his eyes fully, the red glow locking onto mine.
I took a deep breath, knowing this probably wouldn’t be an easy conversation.
“Tamayo wants to take me on a journey, to go northeast to continue hunting.”
I felt his claws dig slightly into my skin, a pinch of pain shooting through me.
“She thinks I could be of some use.”
His growls grew louder, the purrs vanishing. His expression darkened.
“You are not leaving me again.”
I swallowed hard, realizing this wasn’t going as I’d hoped. “Kyojuro, I understand why you don’t want me to go—”
His voice rose, cutting me off. “We had an agreement! You asked me to meet you halfway, and I did. Now you’re breaking our rules and changing your mind!”
His tail remained tightly coiled around me, his claws digging into my skin. His fur bristled, sharp teeth bared.
“The answer is no. You will not go anywhere. My decision is final.” He snarled, his clicking growing louder.
I knew he was angry, but he still held me close. Maybe there was still a chance to reason with him.
“I know I belong to you, Kyojuro. I would never betray that.”
His growl subsided slightly at my words, but his tail stayed tight around my waist, his claws still gripping my skin.
“Please, just hear me out. Surely we can find a way that works for both of us.”
Finally, his tail loosened its grip, and he released his hold on my skin. But I was still pressed against his chest, the tension between us palpable.
I knew I had to keep trying, to find a way that worked for both of us.
“I’m your mate, Kyojuro. I belong to you, but I can help too. I’m not weak—I can be useful to you.”
I saw the conflict in his eyes, a battle between his possessive instincts and the truth of my words.
He leaned in closer, his hot breath grazing my neck.
“You’ll stay with me and help in other ways,” he murmured.
His purrs resumed, low and soothing, and I knew I’d lost this round. But I wasn’t giving up—I’d find another way to convince him to let me go on this journey.
His claws trailed over my skin, gentle now, as he leaned down to kiss me. His purrs vibrated through my body as his hands roamed over me.
I’d let him have this victory, for now. But I’d find another way to sway him. For the moment, I’d wait.
But I needed to understand why. I knew Kyojuro was possessive, as most creatures like him were. It must be hard for him to think of his mate leaving. But I felt there was more to it.
I remembered how furious he’d been when I returned from the northern Territory of Sanemi Shinazugawa, smelling like him. It was the angriest I’d ever seen him.
Do the Hashira hate each other?
I knew they ruled different sectors of the region, but… is there tension between the nine strongest monsters?
It was a puzzle I hadn’t managed to piece together yet.
I reached up to stroke the fur on his face, his purrs growing louder at my touch. He nuzzled into my palm, and I wrapped my arm around his neck, holding him close.
“Is it because you’re worried about me, Kyojuro?” I asked softly. “Or is there another reason you don’t want me to go?”
His purrs stopped abruptly. He pulled back, his eyes narrowing.
A hint of curiosity flashed in his gaze.
“What are you implying, my little human?”
I kept my tone gentle, hoping to reassure him. “I’m just trying to understand. If we can see eye to eye, maybe we can find a solution.”
He looked away, his claws scraping the ground. Tension rippled through his shoulders, his tail twitching restlessly.
I scooted closer, running my hand over his chest.
He glanced down at me, his expression unreadable.
“Do you not realize? You’re my mate now. We’re bonded. Our scents are intertwined. If you step into another Hashira’s territory, they’ll smell me on you.”
He let the words sink in.
“And what would happen then?” I asked quietly.
His tail wrapped around my leg, drawing me closer.
“They’d try to harm the humans that strive to aid and support the opposing hashira. They’d see you as a threat.”
His seriousness, his worry, was palpable.
“Is that really how it works?” I asked, unease creeping into my voice.
Kyojuro nodded, his ear twitching. “While I may be on good terms with some, that’s not the case for everyone. That’s just how we operate.”
My stomach tightened, my heart racing.
He saw my expression change and leaned in closer, his voice softening.
“Do not worry, love. I won’t let anyone harm you. That’s why you can’t leave me.”
I reached up to touch his face, his fur soft beneath my fingers. He leaned into my touch, purring gently.
I knew he wanted to protect me, but I also knew I had to keep trying and stand my ground. I needed to convince him to let me go on this journey, no matter the risks.
I met his eyes, determined. “I understand that you want to protect me, Kyojuro. I appreciate that. But part of our agreement was that you’ll let me continue to work with Tamayo.”
He looked at me, surprise mingling with annoyance, but I pressed on.
“I’ll do what’s right, what I owe her. I promise to be careful, and I’ll return to you as soon as I can. Please, don’t make me choose between you and what’s right.”
I saw the conflict in his eyes again, the battle between his possessive instincts and his understanding of what I needed.
He leaned in closer, his purrs vibrating through me. His voice was deep and husky.
“I’ll think about it, my mate. But don’t expect me to say yes easily.”
Close enough, we are finally heading in the right direction.
——————-
I sat with Tamayo and Yushiro in the small meeting room at the base, reviewing the plans for our journey northeast.
It would just be the three of us, which I knew would make Kyojuro even less pleased. I needed to explain everything to him before we left.
But for now, I focused on the maps and routes spread out before me.
“Are we going to run into any problems here?” Yushiro asked, pointing to a cluster of water on the map.
Tamayo nodded. “If I’m right, this is the territory of the kraken hybrid, Giyu Tomioka. He’s a Hashira, but he’s not as violent or aggressive as Shinazugawa. If we encounter him, he should be manageable.”
Yushiro frowned. “Kraken hybrid? Won’t he just hide underwater until we’re gone?”
“No,” Tamayo replied, her tone assured. “If we arrive, he’ll likely be on the defensive. These creatures rarely hide from threats—they’d rather confront and scare them off. Even if he’s not as aggressive, he’ll still show himself.”
Yushiro crossed his arms, looking less than satisfied.
“What if he doesn’t show?” I asked, my voice cutting through the tension.
Tamayo met my gaze, a certainty in her eyes that was almost unsettling. “Oh, he will.”
Something about her confidence unnerved me. I knew Tamayo had been hunting monsters for years, but to my knowledge, she’d never captured one. So why was she so certain this time?
“There’s been too much activity in the woods lately,” she continued calmly. “Too many things that don’t add up. I know something’s happening out there.”
Kyojuro. She’s talking about Kyojuro.
A wave of paranoia washed over me. What if she finds out? What if she already knows? I can’t let her discover him. I won’t let them hurt him.
I have to warn him—he needs to stay away from this part of the woods.
Tamayo’s voice pulled me back to the present. “We need to be prepared for anything. We don’t know what we’ll find out there, and we can’t underestimate the power of these monsters.”
I nodded, feeling a surge of determination. I’d make sure Kyojuro was safe. I wouldn’t let anything happen to him. I’d protect him, no matter what.
“We leave in two days,” Tamayo said briskly, signaling the end of the meeting. “Be ready.”
I rose from my seat, my heart pounding.
I needed to get to Kyojuro as soon as possible. I needed to warn him.
And then, I had to convince him to let me go on this journey.
I needed to get Tamayo away from here, to distract her from what was happening around us. Traveling would be a good diversion. If her focus was on a different monster, she’d lose interest in Kyojuro.
I’m going, no matter what. I won’t let Tamayo down, despite Kyojuro’s fears. I’m doing this for him too—to protect him from Tamayo’s suspicion.
I’ll keep him safe, just as he’s always promised to do for me. That’s what mates… what lovers do.
I just hope Kyojuro will see it the same way.
—————
To be honest, this constant back and forth between the base and the den is wearing thin. I dread pushing through the forest at night, but I suppose it gives me time to think about what I’m going to say.
Once I finally approached the den, something felt off. It was completely dark. Had Kyojuro gone to sleep already? He usually kept a fire lit until we were ready to rest.
A sense of unease began to creep in as I drew closer. My pulse quickened. Why does this feel so wrong? I hesitated at the entrance, peering into the pitch-black den, the faint moonlight barely penetrating the darkness.
Then, I heard it—a low growl, followed by the familiar clicking I’d come to recognize.
“Kyojuro?” I called out, my voice trembling slightly.
Silence. The air grew unnervingly still. All I could hear was the pounding of my heart and the sound of my own breath.
Just as I opened my mouth to call out again, a sudden gust of wind swept past me, and those glowing red eyes were suddenly inches from my face, piercing straight into my soul.
I thought my heart was going to give out right then and there.
His gaze locked onto mine, and I could see his sharp teeth gleaming in a predatory smile as the moonlight faintly illuminated his face. The clicking grew louder.
“There you are…” he purred, his voice sending a shiver down my spine.
I struggled to breathe; he was terrifying me—badly.
“K-Kyojuro? What are you doing? Is something wrong?—”
Before I could finish, his tail coiled around my wrists, pinning my hands above my head.
He lifted me off the ground effortlessly, suspending me by my wrists as he pulled me closer to the nest, keeping me in the air to meet his eyes.
“My mate still wishes to escape from me, I see…” he growled, amusement lacing his voice.
“Escape? No, it’s not like that!” I try to defend myself, my voice trembling.
He laughs, but there’s no warmth in it.
“You really think you can hide your true intentions from me?” His long tongue trails up my neck, and despite the fear, I can’t stop the blush that creeps over my face.
What is he doing?
“Oh, I’ve given your words from this morning plenty of thought,” he murmurs, his voice dripping with dark amusement. “I think it’s safe to say I’ll try to compromise with you.”
“You will?” I ask, genuinely curious, hope flickering in my chest.
His grip on my wrists suddenly loosens, and I drop to the floor of the nest, staring up at him.
He looks down at me, still smiling, his eyes glowing with that same eerie light. But something feels different now—more intense, more dangerous.
“Since you insist on leaving me to venture into the territories of others, I’ve decided there’s only one way I’ll feel ‘comfortable’ letting you go,” he growled deeply. “I’m going to completely submerge you in my scent and thoroughly mark you as mine.”
My eyes widened as I instinctively tried to back away, still looking up at him.
“But… you said if the Hashira could smell me on you, they’d want to hurt me—that they’d see me as a threat,” I stammered, trying to make sense of his words despite the fear gnawing at me.
He stepped closer, matching my retreat with his advance.
“Yes, I did say that. And it’s true. But you’re not just any human—you’re my mate,” he continued, his tone dark and possessive. “For one Hashira to kill another’s mate could mean battle, war… all kinds of problems. So if you want to leave, you’ll have to go through the process.”
He leaned in closer, his eyes flashing a menacing red. “And you won’t complain.”
His voice dropped into a low, dangerous purr, and my heart fluttered with a mix of fear and something I didn’t want to name.
The clicking grew louder, reverberating through the ground beneath me. The very air seemed to hum with the force of his presence.
I was trapped, and he knew it. There was no escape.
My voice barely emerged, trembling. “You’re going to… mark me?”
His purr deepened, the clicking intensifying.
“Oh, yes,” he murmured, his voice thick with possessiveness. “By the time I’m done, you’ll reek of me and only me.”
I felt consumed by him, completely overwhelmed. I was trapped beneath him, unable to move.
But I didn’t want to escape. I wanted to stay with him, to feel him fill me.
He leaned back, his glowing red eyes meeting my gaze. “Strip,” he growled, his eyes flashing with desire.
I hesitated, my heart pounding. But something in his gaze told me he wouldn’t let me say no.
I reached down, my hands trembled slightly as I removed my clothes. His eyes watched my every movement, his purrs growing louder.
Once I removed all my clothing he leaned in, and before I could react, he pounced, pinning me down on the nest.
His tail coiled around my legs, his claws sinking into my skin as he pressed his weight over me, holding me in place.
My heart raced, pounding in my ears. Was I scared? Absolutely. But I couldn’t deny the thrill that surged through me. This was Kyojuro—the creature who claimed me, body and soul.
He was my mate, my lover. And I was his, completely.
“I won’t let anyone else touch you, little human,” he murmured in my ear, his hot breath making my skin tingle. “Not while you wear my scent.”
As his claws dug deeper into my skin, I gasped as his teeth nipped at the side of my neck.
A shiver ran through me. And as I looked up into those glowing red eyes, I knew there was no going back now.
Whether I liked it or not. Whether I understood it or not.
Kyojuro Rengoku was mine, and I was his. Nothing would ever change that. Nothing could ever take him from me.
His teeth sank deeper into my neck, a sharp pain flaring to life as he bit me. I whimpered, struggling against him.
But he held me firm, his claws plunged
Into my arms, his tail wrapping tighter around me. His purr rumbled through my body, and the clicking grew louder, echoing in my ears.
He leaned back, releasing his hold on my neck. Blood trickled down my skin, but I couldn’t see it clearly in the darkness of the den.
He looked down at me, his expression fierce and feral.
“I need to mark you all over,” he growled, his eyes flashing with desire. “I need you to smell like me, so all know you’re mine.”
He lowered his mouth to my collarbone, his teeth sinking in. I cried out, struggling against him.
But he was relentless, biting and marking me all over my body. His tail tightened around my legs. It hurt, but I liked it.
I was trapped, helpless beneath him. And yet, I didn’t want to fight him.
He leaned up, meeting my gaze. “I hope my mate is prepared for me.” he growled, his eyes blazing with possessiveness. “Any monster that dare come into contact with you will know exactly who owns you.”
I felt my body respond, heat flooding between my legs. His scent, his purrs, his bites—it all combined to drive me crazy with lust.
I let out a light gasp as he flips me onto my stomach, grabbing my hips and positioning my ass out.
He leaned in, I could feel him leaning against my back. He was being rough, aggressive, demanding. He nipped at my nape, his purrs and clicks vibrating through my body.
I felt consumed by him, completely overwhelmed. He was everywhere, filling my senses.
I felt his cock harden against me, his purrs growing louder.
I shouldn’t be wanting this, I shouldn’t be okay with this monster man handling me and marking up my body. But I want him so badly.
He leaned in closer, his nose skimming my neck. “Mine,” he growled, his scent filling my senses.
His tail coiled around my legs, forcing them apart. His claws dug into my hips, holding me in place.
I felt his cock press against my entrance from behind, hard and thick. He leaned in closer, his purrs rumbling through my body.
“Be a good mate, and take all of it,” he growled, his voice thick with possession.
He finally thrust into me, his cock filling me completely. I cried out, my body stretching around him.
He let out an animalistic growl, his tail tightening around my legs so bright I knew it would leave bruises.
He leaned in closer, his mouth meeting my neck. He bit me again on the other side this time, his teeth sinking deep.
I moaned, arching up against him. His cock filled me perfectly, hitting all the right spots.
he growled, i could feel him nipping at my shoulders covering my back in spots as he fucked me. “My good mate knows how to take it, so perfect.” He praises me.
His praises only edge me on, making my eyes roll back slightly. God, it hurts so good.
His cock thrust into me faster now, the knot pushing against the entrance of my cunt.
I just know it’s going to make me feel so full.
He leaned in closer, he gets closer to my ear and whispers. “If Giyu Tomioka touches you, I’ll ensure you never have the strength to walk ever again.” He growls.
My eyes go wide once I feel his knot finally push inside me. I felt a wave of pleasure wash over me as it rubbed against my g-spot.
I moaned, and whimpered loudly. I couldn’t contain it.
His cock began to pulse inside me, his knot swelling to its full size. I felt a rush of pleasure, my body clenching around him.
I cried out, my body shaking with pleasure. His growls and clicks filled the air and rumbled through my body, as I came around him.
He leaned back, as he pistons into me at a rapid rate. My mind going blank.
His purrs grew louder, his scent overwhelming me. His cock pulsed inside me, filling me with his seed.
I moaned, and cried out as I felt him completely unload into me. My stomach starting to feel warm and uncomfortably full.
He kept me in this position his clawed hand on the center of my back keeping me arched in place until he emptied everything out it side of me.
I feel fucked out of my mind once again by him.
His cum filled me to the point I can feel it drip down my thighs. His purrs grow quiet as he slowly pulls out of me.
He then flips me onto my back and settles on top of me, to look at me.
I might not have been able to see very well due to the poor lighting, but I could see those glowing eyes and that wicked smile as he looked down at me like I was nothing but his prey.
He grabbed my face with one of his hands, he purrs seemingly satisfied, as he leaned in. “I hope you’ve learned your lesson, little human.”
His claws traced over my arms, his purr growing softer. He leaned in to my ear, whispering, “If you’re going to continue to go against my wishes, I’m not going to be so gentle with you.”
He nuzzled me and kisses me with such gentleness, despite his rough behavior earlier.
“You’re mine, and I’m going to be damned if anyone ever tries to take that from me,” he whispered.
I nodded my head, my voice coming out weak and soft. “Yes, Kyojuro.” I whisper as he continues to purr.
He pulls back from me, his purrs growing softer. His tail slowly releases its hold on me, allowing my legs to close back up. He runs his hand down my thigh and my ass, his claws tracing over the sensitive skin. He nuzzles me, his purrs soft.
His purrs slowly died down, I felt him lay next to me, he pulls me close to him.
He’s crazy, but he makes me feel content, and protected despite everything. But now I’m completely exhausted from everything that happened tonight.
He leaned in nuzzled against my hair, his purrs and clicks finally dying down.
I fell asleep in his arms. Knowing that no matter what I was safe. And that soon I’d be traveling, and he’d be here, waiting for me to come back. But this time, I won’t be sick because I actually got his permission.
I’d be heading into the heart of the woods, and hopefully, I’d return in one piece.
Are all the Hashira this insane? I was always lead to believe Kyojuro Rengoku was one of the more tame ones, a kind gentle monster. I guess in some ways they got it right…
That’s the last thought that goes through my head before I fall asleep, surrounded by Kyojuro’s purrs. And his strong arms wrapped around me, protecting me. And his fur and body keeping me warm. His scent covering my entire body, claiming me as his.
I knew that no matter what happened on the journey with Tamayo, I was safe and cared for in his arms. And nothing can ever change that.
And so with that, I drifted off to sleep, with him next to me, my mate. My protector.
I think I’m genuinely starting to fall in love with him… Am I crazy?

I can't wait for chapter five!! But I also have a question... Do you have an idea of how many chapters you're going to release and how it's going to end? Also, any updates for chapter five? Just curious. Have a good day 😊.
Hello everyone! Sorry for the late replies, I really do suck at updates omg.😭
I’ve received a few different asks with the same question, so I’ll answer it here.
To answer this question specifically I’m hoping Fatal Attraction will have about 20/25 chapters. I don’t want to give too much away about how it ends, but I will say I’m not huge on an angsty ending but I don’t like things to be super clean cut either.
I have a few ideas that I’m still working the details out on, but once I think their more solid I’ll start dropping hints about the ending.
I’m hoping to have Chapter 5 of Fatal Attraction out very soon. It will be a more plot-based chapter with a little possessive spice.
I’ve gotten some really helpful ideas and suggestions from a few people. If you ever have any ideas for chapters or something you’d like to see more of, just DM me I’ll happily review it.
I’m also updating my Yandere Rengoku fanfic, Crimson Guardian, on Ao3 soon, so I’ve been working on that as well.
Sorry for the slow updates. I’m still aiming to release at least one or two chapters every two weeks, depending on work and school. 🫶🏻
Thank you, and I love all of you!

Chapter One, Chapter Two, Chapter Three,
Y/N Perspective.
The walk home was quiet, filled only with the sounds of the woods and the clicking noises he made. I knew where he was taking me: that den. Despite the haze that clouded my mind when I woke up this morning, I managed to recall certain details I noticed while trying to quietly escape.
It was just as you would expect from a cryptid living deep in the woods. The den was secluded, hidden by a tree line, and resembled an ominous cave. It appeared cold and empty, nothing that would stand out if you happened to notice it.
The inside told a different story. It was warm, with the floor lined with coarse furs and wool from other animals. It remained dark for the most part unless a fire was lit or the sun managed to peek through. Towards the back was the “nest” he spoke of; he said he made it for me, for us.
It was exactly what it sounded like: a nest. It was large, with a base of sticks and wood, topped with furs that were different--much softer and plush to the touch. Truthfully, with some blankets, it could be the most comfortable place to be during the cold winter months.
I’ve also noticed that Kyojuro is quite comfortable himself. His fur is soft, and he radiates warmth like any fire. Sure, he’s a ruthless, psychotic monster, but at least he’s nice to sleep with.
It didn’t take long for us to reach our destination. Once we arrived, he led me straight to the nest, sitting me down inside it. Before I could say anything, I felt his tail wrap tightly around my waist, pulling me against him. He curled up around me, holding me close.
"I’m not going to run," I reassured him.
He scoffed, as if I'd just told a ridiculous joke.
"You really expect me to believe that after the stunt you pulled this morning?" His eyes narrowed at me.
"You don’t understand. It wasn’t what it looked like. I didn’t leave because I wanted to escape. I needed to leave because--"
"Tamayo." He growled her name as if she were the bane of his existence.
"You do not belong to this Tamayo woman. You belong to me." His tail tightened around my waist, starting to hurt.
"It’s not like that. She gives me a place to stay. She’s been extremely good to me."
"I also provide for you." His pointed ear twitched in annoyance.
"I will always provide for my mate. No matter what some human can do for you, I can do more!" He sat up straighter, his voice loud and confident.
I glanced over at the opening of the den. Through the vines, I could see the sky turning orange. It would be late soon.
While I’m completely aware I’m not much assistance to Tamayo as a whole, I can’t just abandon her. She has every right to throw me out and tell me to fend for myself, but she doesn’t. She gives me grace every time. I don’t know her well enough to call her a friend, but I can say she is a good person--a mentor with a passion for monster hunting.
I can’t just disappear.
I have to help her, find something, anything to aid her research. I owe it to her. A hundred times over.
I turn back to look at Kyojuro, his red eyes staring holes into me. Glowing red.
“You are not going anywhere,” he said sharply and to the point.
I could feel my body tense up. This was a cryptid’s influence--the influence of a mate.
Even if I wanted to sneak off now, my body wouldn’t let me, or it would make me sick until I came crawling back. If I wanted to make things right, I had to convince Kyojuro it was a good idea.
“Will you please, please just hear me out at least? Just let me explain.” I sounded pathetic, begging like a damn dog.
I could see his gaze soften slightly as he sat back to get a better look at me.
“Fine, I’ll let my mate explain why she needs to go gallivanting off to this woman so desperately.”
I thought for a moment about how to make him understand. I wasn't sure how well a cryptid could grasp human emotions, let alone human relationships.
To him, anyone who interacts with me seems like a threat, someone who could take me away. Of course, that isn't true, but it must be his animalistic instincts.
"Kyojuro, before I met you, I was living alone, just trying to get by on the streets of that village you saw."
I saw a slight shift in his gaze, a mix of confusion and maybe pity.
"My point in telling you this is because Tamayo was the one who helped me. She saw I was struggling and took me in, gave me a place to stay and food to eat. All she asked in return was my assistance."
He narrowed his eyes slightly, the clicking sounds starting up more intensely as I went on. The sob story wasn’t working. I needed a different approach.
"Without Tamayo, it's very possible I would never have met you, Kyojuro. It’s because of her that we found each other."
I saw a slight change in his demeanor; his tail loosened a bit.
"Tamayo isn’t a bad person, Kyojuro. She has helped me a lot, and I haven’t been able to do a single thing to return those favors."
I looked at him desperately.
"Please, I'll be your mate, I’ll come here every night, whenever I can, but please don’t make me never see her again.”
He looked conflicted, seemingly considering it for a moment, until his tail lifted me off the ground to look me in the eyes.
“Y/N, as my mate, you are to stay here. No exceptions. I marked you as mine, I claimed you as mine. And you agreed to it.” His face was so close to mine.
I couldn’t deny it. It was true. All of this, I agreed to it. I wanted to tell myself I did it out of fear, afraid of what would happen if I said no. But I knew that was a lie.
The hard truth is that I am attracted to him. I genuinely have feelings and a sexual attraction to this cryptid monster, one of the nine most dangerous in the region.
"I know, I know I agreed to be your mate. I still want to be. But can’t there be a way for you to meet me in the middle? After all her kindness and patience with me, I can’t let her think I took advantage of that and abandoned her.”
He hesitated, looking at me as if he needed to process my words.
“Please… mate, please let me make this right.”
His eyes immediately softened at my words. He set me down gently on the nest before hovering over me.
“Y/N L/N,” he growled my name in a way that sent shivers down my spine, his voice echoing and causing my heart to race.
“I will allow you to pay your debts that you feel you owe. I am not cruel.”
I could practically feel my body relax.
“However.”
I looked up at him.
“As I said, you belong to me. You are bound to me.” He growled as he leaned down closer and closer to me. “What I say goes. You will be allowed to see this Tamayo woman during the day and aid her in whatever it is she wishes to prove, but at night, you will be here with me, in our nest. Without exception.”
I took a deep breath. His demands would be difficult, but I had to make it work. This was the best compromise I could hope for with him.
"Yes, okay. I can do that," I agreed quickly.
He stared at me for a moment before slowly rising. He looked out and finally noticed the darkening sky.
"The sun is setting. You may return tonight. Blame your tardiness on 'your old friend' from the market," he scoffed.
I stood up, glancing at my tattered clothing. I wasn't sure how I would explain it this time, but I’d figure something out.
I felt his eyes burning into me, making me uncomfortable and a little hot and bothered.
His large hand grabbed my face firmly, his claws digging slightly into my cheeks.
"That man you were with in the market today. Stay away from him," he spoke lowly.
I knew cryptids were possessive, but I never realized they could get jealous. Oh, if only he knew how little Yushiro liked me.
I nodded to show I understood. He let go and took a step back, looking me over.
"Your visit will be brief. You will return here tonight, or I will drag you here myself." The threat was clear and immediate.
“Okay, I’ll return later tonight, you won’t have to come get me.” I reassure.
His intense gaze never faltered. Now that I know kyojuro has a human form he can change to at will, I wouldn’t put it past him to follow me around everywhere.
He gives me the approval to leave.
-----------------
The walk back was just as annoying as I remembered, hiking out of the woods only to return the same night.
This sucked. I know I’m not in a position to complain, but I feel like he forgets I’m human. My body is sore and tired; all I want is sleep.
Once the house was in sight, I made my way in, passing a few of the other people Tamayo has recruited, until I spotted Yushiro.
He looked up and saw me. As soon as he looked me up and down, he gave me his usual look of judgment.
“What the hell happened to your clothes? And where have you been?” His tone was skeptical but with a hint of concern.
“I’m sorry, I was with my friend and…” I hesitated, unsure how to explain my torn clothes.
“…we decided to go for a walk in the woods while we talked. I accidentally tripped.” I gave a sheepish smile.
What a dumb lie.
He raised an eyebrow, glancing at my clothes again.
“I’d say it’s impossible to mess up your clothes that badly from a trip, but knowing you, you’d find a way.” He scoffed.
Before he could walk away, I gently grabbed his shoulder.
“Wait, where is Tamayo? Is she in?”
Yushiro nodded.
“She’s in her study, probably settling in for the night. If you’re going to bother her, do it quickly.” He shrugged my hand off his shoulder.
Before I could say anything else, he was already halfway down the hall.
This shouldn’t take long. I just need to understand Tamayo’s plan and coordinate it with Kyojuro’s demands.
I stood in front of her study door and knocked lightly.
“Come in,” came her faint voice from behind the door.
When I entered, she was standing behind her desk, putting away some books. She glanced over her shoulder, her gaze softening when she saw me.
“Ah, Y/N. How was the market with Yushiro? He said you ran into an old friend,” she said casually.
“It was fine. I’m sorry for taking so long. Did Yushiro give you the supplies I got?”
She nodded as she placed the last book on the shelf and turned to face me.
“Yes, I got everything. I was pleased to hear you have someone to talk to outside of the group,” she said with a smile.
I started to feel awkward. Any time Kyojuro was mentioned, guilt washed over me. Tamayo had been searching for these creatures her whole life, and here I was, sharing a nest with one of them, keeping it a secret from her.
“Yes, it was very nice to see him again. It had been quite some time,” I said, playing along with the story I made up.
Tamayo's gaze swept over me. “Looks like you had a nice time indeed.” Her teasing was unexpected.
Tamayo rarely discussed anything with me other than monster hunting, but I didn’t have time to dwell on it. I needed to focus on why I was here.
“Tamayo, I actually needed to talk to you about your next steps for the group. Is there anything you need me to do?”
She looked a bit surprised; it wasn’t often I showed much interest in her projects.
She grabbed a small map off her desk and unrolled it, pointing to the northeast.
“We didn’t have much luck in the northern area, so I think it’ll be better if we start going east. I intend to cover the whole region.”
A worry gnawed at my chest. Kyojuro's demands about what I can and cannot do echoed in my mind. He had expressed his anger with me for going north--the same night he marked me and claimed me as his mate.
“So, how can I help with that?”
“You’ll travel with Yushiro and me. It’ll just be us.”
I couldn’t believe what she was saying. Why me? Yushiro hates me every other day, and I contribute nothing more than eating their food.
“Why do you want me to go? Wouldn’t it be better to send some of the more experienced hunters with you?”
She gave me a slight nod.
“Yes, usually that would be the case. However, those hunters are only ‘experienced’ because they’ve had the chance to gain that experience. You, Y/N, need to get some under your belt as well.”
Well, I guess that makes sense.
“Another reason is I need some of the people who have been here longer to keep an eye on the woods around this place. We’ve noticed some strange noises and activity lately. It’s quite possible there could be something out there, so close, and we wouldn’t even know it.”
I had to keep a straight face, but my heart sank. It had to be Kyojuro; he keeps coming around because I’m here. He’s going to blow his cover and be found out.
I needed to talk to him, to explain that Tamayo and the others were catching on to his presence. I had to warn him to stay away.
Tamayo tilted her head, noticing I was lost in thought.
“Y/N?” She called my name softly.
I met her eyes for a moment before speaking. “When will we start our journey? Is it soon?”
She shrugged. “I’m still working on the details. Give me a day or so to get everything lined out, and I can give you a proper timeline.”
I felt a little relief. At least I had two days to process this with Kyojuro. Maybe with more time, he wouldn’t be as aggressive or angry. At least, that’s what I hoped.
----------
The walk back to the den wasn’t as bad as I expected. It was hard to see in the dark, but I was starting to memorize the path.
Sneaking out of my room was going to be annoying. They weren’t exactly keeping tabs on me, but people would get suspicious if they saw me walking into the woods every night and not returning until morning.
Everything about this felt complicated, but I was sure I’d get used to it. I still didn’t know how to convince Kyojuro to let me go east with Tamayo and Yushiro--probably two of his most disliked humans at the moment.
Now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure another Hashira lives in that area, mainly near water. Tomioka...something like that. I remember reading about him in the books I found while trying to learn more about Kyojuro.
The only thing I remember about Tomioka is that he looks like some kind of kraken/human hybrid. Probably like a creepier, more unsettling mermaid. But the book never mentioned he was aggressive or dangerous like Shinazugawa.
Maybe Kyojuro wouldn’t be so opposed to it this time.
I could see the den, a faint light peeking through the vines that covered the entrance. When I walked in, I saw Kyojuro sitting by the fire he had started, which lit up most of the den.
He looked at me, his ears perking up, and smiled with his sharp teeth.
“Ah! So you can follow orders correctly!” he laughed enthusiastically.
I was caught off guard by his demeanor. Before everything that had happened recently, Kyojuro and I had talked casually in the woods. I wouldn’t call us friends exactly, but he was always playful and entertaining.
Given the recent circumstances, I hadn't seen this side of him in a while. He must be relaxing a little bit.
Do I really want to ruin his mood by asking to travel?
He got up from his spot by the fire and walked over to me, his tail wrapping around my waist to pull me closer. He lifted me up in his arms, nuzzling his head against my cheek.
“My mate has returned to me, just as she promised. Now we can spend the night together!” His voice echoed in the den, amplifying his excitement, and his clicking was loud.
Damn, he’s being cute.
He seems so happy; I can't talk to him about leaving right now. I miss this side of him. Sure, his looks are strangely attractive, but what really drew me to Kyojuro was his personality--fun, happy, and confident. Traits I wish I had more of.
I petted the top of his head, scratching behind his ears a little. He started making a growling purr, so I guess he liked it.
“What did you do while I was gone?” I asked, continuing to pet him.
His bright red eyes widened, and he smiled. “I hunted for you. You’re human and very small, so I made sure to bring you plenty!”
I couldn’t help but smile. He’s so happy to do things for me. Even when Kyojuro was angry with me, he’s been attentive since he claimed me. He makes sure I’m fed, that I’m not cold, that I’m safe. He doesn’t let his anger get in the way of being a provider.
Honestly, I know a lot of human men who could use a lesson in that as well...
“Thank you, Kyojuro, I’ll be sure to enjoy it.”
He set me down near the fire where some raw meat and a wooden skewer were laid out.
As I started to cook the meat, his tail draped around me, and his glowing red eyes stared into mine as he smiled. It was a little creepy, but I knew he was just happy.
The meat was good; I didn’t realize how hungry I was until now. Dealing with monsters and monster hunters can make you forget you’re a human who gets tired and hungry.
I could feel myself slightly dozing off as I ate. Curling up in the nest with my cryptid mate didn’t sound so bad right now.
Once I finished, I looked up at Kyojuro, who was still staring at me.
“I’m getting a little tired. Do you think we could go to bed now?”
His eyes flashed, and his expression changed. This smile was different--mischievous and full of lust.
“My mate wishes to sleep already? The night is still young for us, my dear...” He stood over me like a giant, his clawed hand gently grabbing my arm and pulling me up. He leaned down close to my face.
“You forget, I haven’t eaten yet. I’ve been waiting for my meal to return to me since she left.” His growl was low and seductive.
My mind was a mix of fear and arousal at his words. I couldn’t tell if he meant literally or figuratively, but I guess I was ready for either.
“What do you mean?” I struggled to find the right words.
His hand moved from my arm to my face, holding it softly.
“It means I’m going to devour you.”
Blood rushed to my face. I didn’t care which way he meant it, I was ready.
He picked me up again and carried me to our nest.
He set me down gently and leaned back to get a good look at me. His eyes darkened, his smile turning stern and commanding. His claws tugged at my already torn-up shirt.
“Take these off,” he growled lowly.
My heart pounded as I lifted my hands to unbutton my shirt. My mind was racing. I’d already let him fuck his aggression into me this morning after the run in at the market. But I could definitely go again.
I started to remove the rest of my clothes, slowly letting the fabric pool at my feet.
I could feel his intense stare his eyes wide with need, his fur standing on end.
Once I was completely bare I looked back up at him. His gaze was predatory, almost scary.
In an instant I found myself being pinned to the floor of the nest and he towered over top of me. One of his large clawed hands held both my wrists above my head while his tail pulled my legs apart.
His eyes taking me in hungrily. I could feel my body heating up.
"You are perfect," he purred.
Before I could react, his long wet tongue ran over my face and down my neck. I could feel his sharp teeth graze my skin as he moved further down my body, licking and biting as he went.
I arched into his touch, wanting more.
Suddenly his mouth closed over one of my nipples, his tongue swirling around it. The sensation made me moan loudly.
Kyojuro smirked against my chest, clearly pleased with my reactions.
"Are you enjoying yourself?" His clicking starting up again.
"Mhm," I whimpered, unable to form a proper response.
"Good." He kissed his way back up to my face, capturing my lips in a deep kiss. I couldn't help but moan again as his tongue invaded my mouth, tasting every inch of me.
I felt him release my hands, his clawed hands traveling down my body.
My body tensed up as he touched me.
"You're mine. All of you."
Kyojuro's tounge pressed against my folds, causing me to gasp.
"Kyojuro!"
I felt a sharp sting as his claws cut into the soft flesh of my thighs.
His eyes darkened, and his grin grew wider.
"My mate is so wet for me already..."
I blushed, embarrassed by his words.
"Do not be ashamed, love. I will take care of you." His purrs in my ear.
I gasped as his tongue finally found my clit, lapping over the sensitive bundle of nerves.
I gripped the fur on his shoulders, unable to keep my hands off of him.
I could hear him growling as his tongue moved faster and harder against me. My hips bucked against him, desperately trying to gain more friction. My orgasm was building quickly, and it wasn't long before I was moaning loudly, my legs shaking uncontrollably.
"Oh, Kyojuro, fuck! Please don't stop!"
my orgasm came so quick, I couldn’t believe it.
I lay there panting trying to catch my breath. It was so fast, I was almost disappointed.
This clicking noise suddenly grew louder his hand releasing my wrists and moving to my waist forcing me to sit up.
“We aren’t done yet, surely my mate can keep going.” That monstrous smile made my heart flutter again. I wasn’t done and neither was he.
As he sat back I found myself crawling between his legs, his cock was huge, hooked, the large knot bulging at the base.
I was practically drooling for it.
His eyes looked down at me amused.
“Does my mate see something she wants?” His voice echoed lowly.
I had never wanted a cock in my mouth so bad.
I couldn’t resist trying to wrap my hand around it, he growled lowly at my touch.
I knew I couldn’t fit much in my mouth but I was willing to try.
I needed it more than anything right now.
I ran my tongue from the base to the lip, looking into his eyes.
He looked so aroused, so primal.
I started to tease his tip with my tongue, flicking it back and forth before wrapping my lips around it.
It wasn’t much but it was enough to get him to groan loudly.
I started moving my head back and forth, sucking on his tip.
heard him growl loudly again as he gripped my hair in his hand, holding it still.
“More.”
I didn’t need to be told twice.
I opened my mouth as wide as I could, taking as much of his tip in my mouth as I could and started moving my head back and forth.
My gags and moans sounded embarrassing, but the seemed to only edge Kyojuro on.
I could feel myself getting wet again at his pleasure.
I was starting to feel dizzy as I worked my mouth on him. I was drooling all over his cock, spit dripping from my chin.
“My little human, so eager to please me. Get on your hands and knees.”
His voice sent chills down my spine.
I complied immediately.
He positioned himself behind me, his tip pressing against my soaking wet pussy.
“You are so wet, my mate. Tell me what you want,” he demanded.
His hand wrapped around my throat and pulled me back against his chest.
I could barely get the words out.
“Fuck me, please. Fuck me hard, Kyojuro.” I whined.
He chuckled lowly at my begging.
“That’s good, I want you to beg more for me.”
He slid himself in and out of me, teasing me with just the tip.
“Please fuck me, please.” I was desperate.
He pulled out and slammed his cock in me, burying himself to the knot.
I gasped out in pleasure
His tail wrapped around my ankle, holding my legs apart. He started to move in and out of me at a fast pace.
He was going to make me cum again soon and I was sure he would follow suit.
He leaned in close to my ear and started to growl and click as he fucked me.
“Oh fuck, kyojuro...” I moaned, his tail tightening around my ankle.
I was starting to lose control again, my vision blurring as the orgasm hit me again.
His tail quickly moved from my ankle to around my waist, forcing me to stop moving.
Kyojuro’s cock pulsed in me as he released himself, his knot swelling up and locking in place.
I was completely full of his seed, unable to move.
I collapsed forward, my arms and legs giving out.
Kyojuro laid down behind me, pulling me close against him. I was already falling asleep, his warmth and his scent keeping me safe and content.
I had never felt so exhausted and protected in my life.
But I knew tomorrow would be different. I needed to convince Kyojuro to let me go on this hunt with Tamayo.
He wouldn’t be happy and he would probably be angry.
But I couldn’t let him win this time. I needed to be brave enough to hold my own.
I knew Kyojuro didn’t want me to leave, but he needed to understand why I was doing it.
I needed to protect him as much as he protected me.
I knew he would see my point of view.
He just needed to trust me a little bit.
And maybe he would see that I wasn’t going to run from him.
But guess I’ll find out tomorrow.

Hi. I really love your Rengoku Cryptid series. I was wondering if you were planning on writing for other Hashiras as cryptids? If not, would you be okay if I wrote for Gyomei using the same idea? If not that’s totally okay, I would of course give you credit for the idea since you’re my inspiration. Just wanted to ask, have a good day and take care
Tumblr media
Hello!!
To answer your question, yes, I will be including the other Hashira in my story, probably not as “cryptids” but as various other monsters. However, as far as credit and inspiration go, it would definitely be better to give all the credit to @PammyJammy117. They have accounts on Twitter, TikTok, etc., under that handle. They are the creator of the “Cryptid Rengoku” character/idea and was my inspiration for writing the story! I don’t own the “cryptid” idea in any way, and it’s much better to support the original artist. As far as the storyline goes, I don’t need any credit at all!
Thank you so much for asking, and I can’t wait to read your writing! <3

HIII I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE cryptid! Kyujuro stories how often do you post?? (Sorry probably didn’t spell that right 😅)
Ahh thank you so much !!😭🫶🏻
That has definitely been the story I’ve enjoyed writing the most. I have a lot planned out for it already, so new chapters will probably come in soon.
I’m just now getting back into writing, but I’m aiming to upload more consistently, targeting at least every two weeks, life permitting.

Sneaking out of a monster's den wasn't how I planned to spend my morning. My body was so sore that walking was nearly unbearable. The only reason I managed to escape was because I noticed Rengoku had a slight hearing problem.
Despite his large, pointed ears, he often asked me to speak up or claimed he couldn't hear what I was saying.
He must have been exhausted from last night too, because he didn't react to my footsteps. This "escape," if you could call it that, was likely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
I tried to recall everything that had happened, but my mind remained hazy. I remembered the pleasure, the pain, and I remembered him saying something to me, but I was too wrapped up in the moment to grasp his words.
But none of that mattered now. The only thing that did was getting back to Tamayo to explain why I never returned with the firewood.
As I neared the edge of the woods, I could see the camp in the distance. My head started to spin again, and my vision became foggy.
I squinted and saw someone running towards me.
"Y/N, Y/N!" a voice called out.
Is that Yushiro?
That was my last thought before everything went black and my head hit the ground.
I was out.
—————————
When I woke up, the warm light was practically burning into my eyes. I knew exactly where I was.
As I slowly sat up from the bed, I saw Tamayo sitting at a desk in the corner of the room, appearing to take notes.
"You should lie back down. Whatever got you, got you pretty good," she said calmly.
She put down her pen and walked over to me, sitting at the edge of the bed.
"How are you feeling? What hurts?" She gently placed a hand on my forehead.
This was unusual. Tamayo typically gave me the "tough love" treatment, even when I was sick. So why was she being so compassionate now?
“I feel... surprisingly okay.” I moved my body slightly, not feeling nearly as bad as I had when I first made it out of the woods.
She smiled and nodded, pulling out another pen and a pad of paper. “That’s because of the medicine I gave you. You should be back to normal very soon.” Her smile was warm and reassuring.
“Are you feeling well enough to answer some questions? I need you to tell me everything you can remember about what attacked you.” She looked at me with a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
I couldn't tell her about Rengoku. By the time he wakes up, I'm probably already in enough trouble with him as it is. I definitely don’t need to add to that.
I bit my bottom lip slightly as I scanned my body. Bruises and cuts covered my arms and legs, and even more were on my chest, according to Tamayo.
I looked up at her apologetically. “I’m so sorry, Tamayo, but I really can’t remember much. Everything happened so fast.”
She sighed, then her gaze stopped at my neck. “What about that?” She gestured to her own neck. “What happened there?”
I reached up and touched my neck, feeling the outline of teeth marks.
Thinking quickly, I decided to go along with what Tamayo believed. “I remember a little bit. It was large with sharp teeth, and it moved quickly. While I was collecting firewood, it ambushed me. It must have thought it had killed me and ran off.” The lie flowed out smoother than I had expected.
I watched as she scribbled my words on her notepad, making note of the beast’s appearance.
I fed her small snippets of false information about the supposed monster that attacked me. It hurt to lie, especially to someone who had always been so kind and patient with me, but what other choice did I have?
She tucked her pen behind her ear and set down her pad of paper, her gaze now fixed on me.
"Y/N."
"Yes, ma'am?"
"I owe you an apology," she began.
“An apology? For what?”
"Last night, when you didn’t return with the firewood, I grew frustrated. Remembering your reluctance to travel up north with us, I thought you had grown tired of monster hunting and just ran off."
She sighed and shook her head.
"So when Yushiro recommended sending a search party to check on you, I told him to forget about it."
My eyes widened at the implication.
"I’m so sorry, Y/N. If I hadn’t been so dismissive, you probably wouldn’t have had to suffer through the night alone in the woods."
She took my hand, squeezing it gently.
"I’m so sorry. Please forgive my negligence," she said, looking at me with genuine sorrow.
My heart ached seeing her blame herself for my "attack." I wanted to tell her it wasn’t her fault and that her life's work on monsters wasn't a waste.
But I couldn’t, because I’m selfish. Despite how much Rengoku scares me, I have strange feelings for him. I don’t want to see him captured and tested on.
“It’s fine, Tamayo, really. You don’t need to feel sorry,” I said with a gentle smile. “Besides, the medicine you gave me has almost completely taken away the pain. I feel fine now!”
She smiled and pulled her hand back. “Well then, if you’re feeling so much better, you can accompany Yushiro to the next village to gather more supplies.” She stood up and walked back to the desk to gather her paperwork.
And I’m back to work…
“There are some clothes for you over there,” she pointed to a small wardrobe in the corner of the room.
“Okay, thank you.” I cleared my throat slightly.
She nodded and exited the room, shutting the door softly behind her.
As I stood up to get the clothes, a sudden ache started in my stomach, the same nausea I felt when we went up north. The side effects of disobeying a cryptid, disobeying a mate.
He must be awake now.
Maybe running into town wouldn’t be such a bad idea after all. It would keep Rengoku from looking for me. He wouldn’t show his face in town.
I dressed quickly and left the small infirmary room. As I walked by, a few fellow monster hunters gave me only a cursory glance.
Stepping outside, I saw Yushiro standing near the door, absorbed in a list. When I approached, he looked up, his usual scowl replaced by an expression of concern and relief.
As I reached him, he diverted his gaze back to the list, avoiding eye contact.
“Are you ready to go?” he asked softly.
“Yeah, is there a lot we need to get?” I replied.
He started walking, and I fell in step beside him. He handed me the list of supplies Tamayo had given him. I scanned it briefly—mostly food and medicinal herbs.
I handed the list back, and he slipped it into the pocket of his vest. We walked in awkward silence for a moment.
“How are you feeling?” he finally asked.
I glanced at him, but he kept his eyes forward.
“Oh, I’m fine. Thanks for getting me inside and taking care of me,” I said, offering a faint smile.
He didn’t respond.
“That bite looked pretty nasty when I found you,” he said finally, glancing at the bandage on my neck.
“It wasn’t that bad,” I said, trying to downplay it. Reflecting on it, the pain hadn’t been intense—perhaps my body was still in shock, and the adrenaline had dulled the sensation.
We walked in silence until we reached the village. Once there, Yushiro pulled out the list, and we divided the tasks between us to save time.
I was responsible for gathering herbs and bandages, while Yushiro took on the rest. We parted ways, and I headed towards the market.
The market was bustling today, crowded with vendors and shoppers. After being shoved around more than I’d have liked, I finally reached a stall selling medical herbs. I quickly gathered what I needed and paid the elderly woman at the booth, then tucked the small pouch of herbs into my pocket and moved on.
Suddenly, a sharp pain flared in my chest and stomach. It felt like I might collapse. Rengoku’s influence seemed to be intensifying.
He must be really upset that I left. It wasn’t as if I planned on disappearing forever. I intended to return and visit him tonight, to show I could manage both him and my team without issues.
I gasped, clutching my chest as the pain grew more intense. It had never hurt this badly before.
I stumbled into a secluded part of the market, struggling to catch my breath and regain my composure. As I focused on the ground, a shadow fell over me, prompting me to look up.
A tall man stood before me, his muscular build evident through his clothes. When my gaze reached his face, my heart skipped a beat. His yellow and red hair, falling to his shoulders, forked eyebrows, and amber eyes were strikingly familiar. But something about his eyes was different—more intense.
“What are you doing all the way out here, little human?” he asked, smiling down at me.
My breath caught as the realization dawned.
“Rengoku?” I whispered.
He smiled wider, revealing his sharp teeth, and his eyes briefly flashed red despite his now human-like appearance.
My heart raced furiously. Even as a monster, he was alluring, but as a human, he was just as captivating.
He grasped my face, his smile fading into a look of displeasure.
“Why was it, when I woke up, that my human, my mate was gone? Especially after she pledged her loyalty and life to me?” His voice dropped dangerously low.
I was disoriented by how strange this all felt. His voice no longer had the echo I was accustomed to, and the clicking sound I had grown used to had vanished.
Am I hallucinating? Is this some side effect of Tamayo’s medicine?
His grip on my face tightened, jolting me out of my thoughts.
I struggled to find the words under the intensity of his angry gaze.
"I-I'm sorry, Rengoku. I didn't mean to make you come looking for me. Really, I intended to come back as soon as it got dark," I said, smiling nervously.
He tilted my head to the side, examining the bandage on my neck. His eyes turned back to their usual red.
"So, not only does my mate try to escape, but she also hides my mark, my claim," he growled.
He was furious, but I didn’t have time for this. If I didn’t leave now, Yushiro wouldn’t know what happened to me.
I gently lifted my trembling hand to cover his, still holding my face firmly. I needed to calm him down.
"Rengoku, please don't be upset. I had to leave, or no one would have known where I’d gone. They would have searched for me."
Oh, the irony...
He scoffed, releasing my face only to grab my wrist instead.
"They never would have found us. I would never let anyone take you away from me." He pulled me close against his chest, leaning down to whisper in my ear.
"I told you, no matter where you ran, I would always come find you," he murmured, his voice echoing briefly.
I shrank back slightly.
"You're coming back home. There's no point in staying around these humans when your mate has a perfectly fine nest for you," he said, his eyes narrowing.
Before I could respond, I heard someone calling my name.
I turned to see Yushiro approaching with a basket of supplies, his face back to its usual annoyed expression.
Instinctively, I tried to pull my wrist away, but Rengoku's grip tightened painfully. I glanced up at him, his eyes filled with a deadly intensity.
As Yushiro drew nearer, Rengoku pulled me closer. I could see the confusion on Yushiro's face.
"Y/N, who’s this?" Yushiro asked, looking Rengoku up and down.
"Oh... this is just a friend of mine. We were just catching up," I said with an awkward laugh and forced smile.
Rengoku's body tensed beside me. I knew I was in trouble once this was over.
Rengoku's gaze shifted from me to Yushiro, and he practically towered over both of us. I could see Yushiro looking a bit intimidated by his size and presence.
Then, to my surprise, Rengoku's murderous look softened into a kind and friendly smile as he faced Yushiro.
I held my breath as Rengoku extended his hand to Yushiro in a seemingly friendly gesture.
"I'm Kyojuro, Kyojuro Rengoku," he said, his closed-mouth smile almost charming despite the anger radiating from him.
"Yushiro," Yushiro replied reluctantly, shaking Rengoku's hand. He was clearly uncomfortable.
Rengoku smiled as he stepped back, wrapping his arm around my waist, his hand digging into my hip.
"So, Yushiro, how do you know Y/N?" Rengoku asked, his voice calm but his grip on my hip bruising.
Yushiro looked confused but didn’t comment on the physical contact.
"Y/N and I work together. We're here on a supply run," he answered plainly, then furrowed his brows in confusion. "I'm sorry, did you say your name was Kyojuro Rengoku?"
Damn. Of course Yushiro would recognize a cryptid's name.
I quickly jumped in before things could escalate. "As nice as it is to catch up, we should probably get going, right, Yushiro?" I said, pulling the small bag of herbs from my pocket.
"Yeah, we should go," he agreed.
As I started to walk toward Yushiro, Rengoku grabbed my arm, stopping me.
"Y/N, we rarely get time to talk like this. I'm sure your friend wouldn't mind returning without you so we can catch up a bit more," he said sweetly, with a hint of warning in his voice. I had no choice but to comply.
He took the small bag from my hands and tossed it to Yushiro, who quickly caught it.
"You don't mind, right?" Rengoku smiled at Yushiro.
Yushiro looked from me to Rengoku before finally agreeing. "Yeah, it's fine. I'll let Tamayo know you ran into someone you know. She’ll be happy to hear you're not completely isolated," he said, then turned and walked away.
I silently pleaded for him to stay, to not leave me with Rengoku like this. But he vanished into the crowd, leaving me alone with him.
————————
Rengoku remained silent as he dragged me out of the village and into the woods. His anger was palpable, and I was too scared to try and fix what I'd done.
Once we reached a small clearing, he let go of my arm and turned to face me, still in his human form. I should have been terrified, but he looked undeniably good.
"So, we're just two friends catching up, are we?" The usual echo in his voice suddenly returned, and his eyes changed from amber back to their glowing red.
"I didn't mean it like that. What did you want me to say? I wasn't going to expose you right then and there," I defended myself.
He stepped closer, his face angrier now.
"You shouldn't have run off in the first place if you were worried about something like that," he growled.
I bit inside of my lip slightly. I guess he was right in a way, but that wasn't the point.
He suddenly grabbed my jaw, forcing my head to tilt to the side. He ripped the bandage off my neck, revealing his mark on my skin.
Pulling me close, his face inches from mine, he said, "My mate will never cover my mark again. Is that clear?" His echoing voice had a threatening undertone.
I nodded profusely, hoping he'd let go. But he didn't. His red eyes locked onto mine, filled with desire and something else...
"Did I not please you enough, human? Was our binding session not sufficient for you?" he asked, puzzled.
"I suppose not if you were able to get up and walk away without my notice," he growled lowly.
“I’m sorry, Rengoku. I swear, everything that happened today was just a misunderstanding. I was never going to leave for good,” I tried to make it not sound as bad, but it really wasn’t working.
“A misunderstanding, I see,” he said, his tone dark.
“Well then, my sweet little mate, let’s ensure there are no more misunderstandings…” he purred in my ear.
“Wait, what are you—?”
His hand tangled in my hair, pulling my head back to expose my neck.
“This time, I’ll make sure you don’t have enough strength to get up and walk away from me,” he purred, licking up my neck.
I blushed intensely, embarrassed by my position.
“R-Rengoku…” I breathed out shakily.
His hand moved to my throat, squeezing lightly.
“Kyojuro,” he corrected firmly. “Address your mate accordingly. I won’t tell you again.”
I gasped for air.
He didn't squeeze hard enough to restrict my air flow, but it was still painful.
He squeezed harder, his other hand moving between my legs. He began to rub me through my clothes, his movements slow and teasing.
I struggled to breathe, but my body was already reacting to his touch. My hips instinctively bucked towards him, desperate for more friction.
He chuckled at my desperation. "So needy for someone who ran away from me, aren't you?"
My body was trembling with need. My breathing grew labored, and I was finding it harder to hold back.
I needed him, and I needed him now.
He removed his hand from between my legs and released his grip on my throat, allowing me to gasp for air.
Grabbing me by the collar of my shirt, he led me to a nearby tree, shoving me against it roughly.
He quickly tore up my clothes again, leaving me exposed. He then tore off his own clothes, discarding them on the ground.
I stood frozen, taking in the sight before me. I knew he was strong, but this was beyond what I had imagined. He was attractive as a monster, but his physique as a human was just as perfect.
His body was muscular and defined. I felt my core grow wet, and my clit throbbed as I gazed at his naked body.
"Are you ready, mate?" he asked, his eyes glowing bright red.
"Y-yes," I stammered, nervous and excited.
He stepped forward, his lips colliding with mine. I melted into his kiss, his tongue invading my mouth, tasting every inch.
His hands explored my body, groping my breasts, pinching and twisting my nipples.
He broke the kiss, his mouth moving to my neck, biting and sucking on the sensitive skin.
I moaned, enjoying the sensations. His cock, still just as big and thick as I remember twitched, the precum dripping onto the ground.
"You're mine," he growled against my skin.
His hands gripped my thighs, lifting me off the ground. My legs wrapped around his waist, pulling him closer.
He pressed his cock against my slit, rubbing the tip up and down.
"Do you want me, mate? Tell me how much you want my cock inside you," he purred, his eyes blazing red.
"Please, Kyojuro," I moaned.
"Say it. Say that you belong to me, and only me," he demanded, his voice echoing.
I'm yours, Kyojuro. Only yours," I whimpered.
With a growl, he slammed his cock inside me, his claws digging into my thighs.
I cried out as the pleasure consumed me. His cock was huge, filling me to the brim.
"You feel amazing," he groaned, starting to thrust.
My back arched as he pounded into me, his cock stretching my pussy.
He fucked me hard and fast, his pace brutal and relentless.
I could tell he was taking his anger out on me, the rage he felt when he realized I had escaped. But I didn't care. I needed him just as much as he needed me.
He panted and groaned, his body covered in a sheen of sweat. He was fucking me so hard and fast, I thought I might break.
I screamed out in pleasure, my orgasm approaching.
"Cum for me, mate," he purred.
His cock throbbed inside me, his seed spilling deep inside. The sensation pushed me over the edge, and I came, crying out his name.
He groaned as he continued to thrust, prolonging my pleasure.
“Y/N,” he growled my name into my ear.
“Yes?” I panted softly, still trying to catch my breath as I came down from my high.
He grabbed my chin, pressing his forehead to mine.
“If you ever leave our nest to go off with some other man again, I’ll kill him where he stands.”
His threat made my blood run cold, but I was so lost in the moment, consumed by pleasure, that I didn’t register how sincere he was being.
He finally pulled out, setting me back on the ground. Exhausted and sore, I could barely stand.
He looked down at me, his eyes primal with need. His anger was slowly dissipating, but I knew this wasn’t enough for him. After all the trouble I’d caused, I could tell this was only the beginning.
“We will return to our den now, and we will continue this… bonding.”
I watched as his body shifted back into its usual form. The monster I was used to. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to this a little. He bent down and picked me up as if I weighed nothing.
His smile returned, and his ears perked up, but I could tell I wasn’t forgiven. So, I decided to silently agree and hang on to him while he carried me to this “new home” of ours.

Chapter One
He let me go. I can’t believe what just happened as I stumble back to the small, secluded residence where Tamayo has been housing us. My ankle hurts, but not as badly as before. The pain lingers, though it's less intense after resting and talking with that monster.
I'm in shock and disbelief. Out of all the people who have been searching for these mythical monsters for years, I had the misfortune of encountering one—and a dangerous one at that.
I think back to that haunting smile, those sharp teeth, and the glow of his red eyes. However, Tamayo's rambling might have saved me in a way. I never looked Kyojuro Rengoku directly in the eyes, which means he couldn’t sway my emotions.
If I remember correctly, the Hashira—or more specifically, these cryptid creatures—have the ability to influence a person’s control once you look into their eyes. This could be a means of protection or a manipulation tactic. I didn’t care what Kyojuro Rengoku’s intent was. Once I realized the situation I was in, I kept my gaze low.
He seemed not to notice, or at least he never mentioned it.
My mind is racing, and there's a nauseous feeling in my stomach. The full realization of the situation crashes down on me all at once: I encountered one of the nine most dangerous monsters our group has been researching. And I can’t breathe a word about it to any of them, especially not Tamayo.
The guilt didn’t set in until I finally made it back to the small house. I could see Tamayo, Yushiro, and some of the others talking in a group through the window.
There they were, discussing theories and ideas, while I stood outside with a twisted ankle, no flower, and a huge secret I had to keep from them.
In that moment, it felt like the world was working against me. I didn’t even believe in any of these ridiculous creatures, and now I’m stuck returning to see one every other day.
And return I did. Once my ankle healed, I kept my promise to him, bringing offerings of different foods and teas. I tried bringing blankets and fabric once, but he didn’t seem to enjoy those.
Even though sneaking around at night to see him was difficult, I made it work. Our dynamic was confusing, but I tolerated it. The first few times I visited, we sat and ate together. He would ask me questions about myself and my life, which I usually answered briefly. I didn’t want a terrifying monster knowing everything about me. Recognizing my face was bad enough.
When I tried to ask him questions, he would either change the subject or ignore me completely. If anyone else behaved like this, I’d probably tell them off. But when you’re dealing with an eight-foot-tall cryptid with teeth sharper than any blade, I let it slide.
Today, on my way to see him, I felt different. I’ve been visiting him for around two weeks now and never felt us getting closer, but I’ve started getting used to his company. As I continued to see him more, his appearance began to grow on me.
The blonde fur, the sharp teeth, and the red glow emanating from his eyes became something familiar, something I expected. Over time, these once terrifying traits started to become... not so bad.
"Why do you look like that?" His booming voice jolted me back to reality.
"I'm sorry, I was just thinking."
"It seemed like you were staring... Haven't you gotten used to me yet?" He flashed a smile so terrifying yet charming it sent shivers down my spine.
"No, it's not that. I was just trying to decide what food to bring next time."
"I really enjoyed the sweet potato dish. Bring it again." His ears perked up almost like a dog's. It was kind of cute.
"I've brought that one too often. You should try other dishes. Besides, I won't be able to come see you for a few days, so you'll have some time to think it over."
I waited for a response, but there was none. Slowly, I looked up at him. His face was scary, his sharp smile replaced by a terrifying scowl. His ears flattened.
"That's not what we agreed upon, Y/N. Why won't you be able to come see me?" he growled.
I struggled to find the words. Tamayo had informed the group that we'd be moving locations for a few days to cover new ground. I thought he'd understand. I never assumed he'd be upset by my absence.
"My group has to move locations for our search for a while. It shouldn’t take too long. I’ll return soon. It will only be a couple of days."
He got up and moved closer, and I felt every part of my body tense as he approached.
"Where exactly will you be going?" His face was so close to mine now. I felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest.
"North… we’re going north."
I didn't have to look at his face to feel the intense glare he was giving me.
"You can’t go. You won’t," he snarled, pulling away.
"I don’t have a choice—"
"I don’t care. You aren’t going."
I didn’t understand. Is it just for the food? Why would this terrifying legend of a monster care if I came to see him or not?
"Why is it a problem? Why can’t I go?" I somehow managed to push the words out.
He was quiet, then I suddenly felt something around my wrist. I looked down to see his tail tightly wrapped around me, pulling me closer. That’s when I felt his sharp-clawed hand lifting my chin.
I instinctively shut my eyes.
"Look at me, Y/N." That usually happy tone had vanished from his voice, replaced with a voice as cold as ice.
Every bone in my body wanted to comply with his demands, but Tamayo's warning lingered in my mind.
"I can’t.”
"Look at me," he repeated.
I couldn’t resist. I knew Cryptids could influence humans, but I didn’t realize how much.
Slowly, I felt my eyes open, adjusting to the sight in front of me.
My mouth fell slightly open. I’d never seen such deep red glowing eyes before. That smile I’d grown accustomed to was completely gone.
I was scared, but why was I so… attracted to him?
"You will not go, Y/N. I'm sure you can come up with some excuse for this Tamayo woman you speak of so much," he spat.
I wanted to protest, to argue, but I just couldn't.
"Okay, I'll talk to her."
With that, he let me go, his tail slowly unwrapping from my wrist. His smile returned.
"Very good! You'll return to me tomorrow. I want the sweet potato dish once more!"
I could practically hear my own heartbeat—what a one-eighty.
As I walked back to the safe house, I planned what I would say to Tamayo, what excuse I would give for not going with the group.
Yushiro was definitely going to give me a hard time about it. But this whole situation sucks. I don’t want Tamayo to kick me out of the only place I have to call home, but on the other hand, I risk getting killed by one of the scariest creatures known to man.
-—————-
"Where have you been?"
I glanced up to see Yushiro and some of the others packing for the journey.
"I just stepped out to get some fresh air."
"Seems like you've been stepping out a lot lately," Yushiro muttered, rolling his eyes.
I had no idea why he was so hard on me. His attitude had only worsened the longer I stayed.
Ignoring him, I walked away. I don't answer to Yushiro. I answer to Tamayo, and that's who I needed to talk to.
My hand felt heavy as I knocked on the door to her office.
"Come in."
I opened the door slowly.
She was nearly hidden behind a giant stack of papers and books. As I approached, she stood and walked around to meet me.
"Y/N, what is it?"
I couldn’t believe how intimidating this small woman was.
"Tamayo... I can't go with you and the rest of the group up north."
She looked at me blankly for a moment. "Why's that?"
"Because I'm afraid I might be coming down with a cold... or something..." I hadn't really thought of a convincing excuse.
"You look fine to me. You're going," she said coldly.
Damn.
"I want to, I really do. It's just that I don't feel well, and I'm afraid I'll hold everyone back."
She scrutinized me. I knew she could tell something was off, but she was making this difficult on purpose.
"Y/N, I've asked you to look for the same flower for weeks now and you've brought me nothing. Now I'm asking you to join the group on our search up north and you're telling me no?"
When she said it out loud, it sounded ridiculous.
"You will go with us, Y/N, or you can't continue to stay here. The choice is yours."
So, my options were to face this 4'11" intimidating woman or an 8-foot-tall cryptid monster.
I'll take my chances with Rengoku.
After all, Tamayo controlled whether or not I had a place to sleep at night. I'm sure he wouldn't be too angry with me as long as I brought him more food.
"Suddenly I feel a lot better. I'll be ready to go in the morning," I said, forcing a small smile.
"That's what I figured." She retreated back behind her desk.
Something inside me felt off, my body a little uneasy. Yeah, he's going to be upset, but he'll forgive me. Right?
I walked up into my small room to get things ready, but I started to feel a little strange. My body felt odd, as if I was doing something wrong.
Climbing into the covers I think about everything, this whole situation that I’ve gotten myself into, with Tamayo, with Rengoku, all of it. I just don’t understand why it had to happen to me.
I never wanted any of this.
I was feeling confident until this morning. As I was helping Yushiro get things ready for the set out, my body kept feeling weird.
It’s like I kept having this odd sense of I’m doing something wrong. Like I’m in danger. I kept trying to shake it off but, it doesn’t go away.
Things only got worse once we hit the road. Tamayo may have thought I was lying earlier about being sick, because I was. But now, my whole body feels awful.
But it’s just a few days. I can push through. I’ll come home, make Rengoku a large dish of the sweet potatoes he loves, and all will be forgiven with a little ass-kissing.
“Y/N, are you ready?”
I look over and see Yushiro and the others staring at me.
“Yeah, sorry. Let’s go.” I push the sick feeling down and start to move.
I can’t help but think about why Rengoku didn’t want me to go up north. I know the territory mark ends, but really that shouldn’t mean anything. It’s not like I’m staying up there permanently.
As I walked with the group, I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I felt like something was staring at me. It only felt more intense the closer and closer we got to the border that separated our usual territory from the north.
Once we started to step over that line, I glanced over my shoulder one last time. I practically felt my heart stop as I noticed two shining red eyes glaring at me in the distance.
He saw me, and he looked furious. I made the wrong call.
———————
To say that the trip up north was a waste of time would be an understatement—at least in Yushiro's words.
We searched around but found very little. To be honest, I was more paranoid about what we couldn't see. Knowing about the Hashira's existence has made me overly wary of wandering around.
While we were camping out, I read that we were in the territory of Sanemi Shinazugawa. His description was just as horrifying as Rengoku’s.
But what truly scared me was how violent this monster was compared to Rengoku. I knew these monsters were fierce, but the tales of Shinazugawa were extreme.
I felt so guilty keeping this secret. My group had no idea how much danger we’d be in if we ran into him. And it would be all my fault.
Honestly, if Sanemi Shinazugawa wanted to find and kill me, I wouldn't complain too much after the way Rengoku looked at me on my way out. I figured I was painfully dead either way.
I could feel my steps getting heavier as we walked back towards the safe house. It’s not like I wanted to stay in a monster-infested forest, but I definitely didn’t want to be there with Rengoku.
I’ve looked through books and journals of Tamayo’s and still can’t find much about him. Everything I found was positive. He was a kind, protective cryptid who watched over the main village in this area until humans deemed monsters too dangerous to trust.
There was nothing on his origins, background, family, or anything—certainly nothing about a temper.
So why was he looking at me like that? Like he wanted to kill me for going against him. Honestly, it felt like my body wanted to punish me for it too.
Ever since we left—no, ever since I agreed to go—I’ve felt sick and worried. I just kept feeling like I was doing something wrong.
“Y/n, when we get back, I need you to get some firewood.”
I glanced over to see Tamayo looking at me.
I’m dead.
“Oh, okay.”
The rest of the walk, all I could do was dread what would happen to me. Not only was Tamayo forcing me back into the place I wanted to avoid, but I’d also be going without some sort of food offering.
I might as well have signed my own death certificate.
Once we made it back, I helped unload everything and then slowly made my way back into the forest to get the wood. As soon as I stepped out of the clearing, a shiver ran down my spine.
Then the clicking started. He’s here.
“Y/N L/N.” The way his echoing voice spoke my name made me want to run, but my feet stayed planted.
Once he emerged from the shadows, his tall, broad figure just as terrifying as I remembered. But this time, there was no sharp smile or perked-up ears. Instead, angry, glowing eyes and a scowl that would scare any man.
I stepped back as he approached.
Just as I was about to speak, his tail wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer.
He leaned in and sniffed me. When he pulled back, his whole demeanor changed. His eyes darkened.
“You disobeyed me,” he growled.
“I had to. If I didn’t go, Tamayo was going to kick me out—”
His grip tightened, and his ear twitched with annoyance.
“You could have stayed here, with me. You don’t need her approval. The only person you should wish to please is me.”
His glare was piercing.
Stay with him? What is he talking about?
“I’m sorry, I really am. I didn’t want to go.”
“I cannot believe you would deliberately disobey me. You even smell like him,” he hissed.
“Who?”
His clicking intensified with his agitation.
“Shinazugawa.” He growled fiercely.
“You left me to fall into his company? He is a vile, horrible creature. You dare to choose him over me?” His eyes flashed with anger.
I felt my heart racing as his words sank in. My mind scrambled for something to say, anything that might diffuse his rage.
“No, it’s not like that! I didn’t choose him over you,” I pleaded. “I didn’t have a choice.”
His grip loosened slightly, but his eyes remained fixed on me, burning with anger and something else—betrayal.
“You always have a choice,” he said, his voice low and dangerous. “You chose to leave. You chose to put yourself in his path.”
I didn't know what to say. I hadn't even interacted with Sanemi Shinazugawa, yet somehow his scent was all over me.
I looked up at him, my eyes pleading. "Please, Rengoku. I would never choose anyone other than you."
His glowing eyes bore into mine, as if trying to gauge the truth of my words.
Suddenly, he pulled me closer, his large, clawed hand grabbing my face roughly.
"Prove it to me then. Prove you're loyal to me—not to Tamayo, not to Shinazugawa, to me."
"How? How can I prove it?" I was practically shaking. I would do anything to get out of this life-threatening situation.
His intense gaze lit up, his sharp smile returning. He leaned in close to me.
"Become my mate, Y/N L/N. Prove your loyalty to me, and become mine." His echoing voice suddenly sounded less sinister and more sincere.
Become his mate?
I felt my face heat up. There’s no way. There’s just no way Kyojuro Rengoku, a cryptid, a Hashira, one of the most dangerous beings to roam the earth, is asking me, a human, to become his mate.
“What? What do you mean?”
His smile only widened at my curiosity.
“Become my mate, Y/N. Stay with me, love me, and I’ll protect you for all eternity.” His ears perked up.
I didn’t know what to think. Am I actually considering this? I’ve always found Rengoku oddly attractive despite his terrifying nature, and yes, I do enjoy coming to see him. But was becoming his mate really what I had to do to survive?
And how exactly would I hide this from everyone?
As I looked into his eyes again, they flashed. Something in me felt different. Why was I suddenly feeling more attached to him?
I remembered the first time I looked into his eyes. I could tell he was influencing my body and emotions, but this time it was different.
Everything I’ve felt for him just felt amplified: fear, intimidation, attraction, lust.
Was I seriously about to bend to the will of this monster just because my twisted mind was genuinely attracted to his horrifying appearance and oddly charming personality?
If it’s going to keep me alive, then Yes. Yes, I was.
“Okay, I’ll do it. I’ll become your mate, Rengoku.”
His eyes widened, his smile growing larger as his grip on my waist tightened.
“If you agree to this, you must know I’ll never let you go. No matter where you run, I’ll always find you and bring you back to me.”
That sentence startled me, but I never expected to succeed in any escape attempt. I knew I couldn’t outsmart a monster like him.
“I understand. And I agree.”
That seemed to be all he needed to hear. He pulled me closer, our distance vanishing. His animalistic nature began to show as he sniffed and licked my skin.
“I’ll erase every trace of him on you. You’re mine,” he breathed.
I couldn’t help but feel my cheeks grow hotter, my body reacting to his possessive words.
In an instant, he was on top of me, pressing my body against the grass.
I struggled to breathe, his weight nearly suffocating me.
His eyes were locked on mine, his glowing red stare seeming more passionate than threatening now.
Suddenly, he pulled back and tore the clothing from my body, his hands groping and feeling my exposed skin.
My heart raced. I knew what was about to happen, and it terrified me. But I was also strangely excited.
He was quick, his claws shredding the remaining scraps of fabric from my body, leaving me bare beneath him.
I couldn't believe what I'd gotten myself into. This terrifying, mythical creature was about to claim me as his own. And the thought of it drove me wild.
As his large, clawed hands gripped my waist, he positioned himself between my legs.
His eyes looked at me, hungry.
"Y/N L/N."
"Yes?"
"You're mine."
I felt a surge of excitement run through me as I nodded.
"Say it," he growled.
"I'm yours."
His clicking started up again and he positioned his face between my legs.
I can’t believe it, is he really going to—
"Aah!" I cried out as his long, rough tongue began lapping at my sex.
My back arched as he lapped and teased, his sharp teeth nipping and tugging at my sensitive flesh.
I could barely catch my breath, the pleasure almost overwhelming.
I could feel my legs shaking, and my body begin to tighten as his tongue flicked against my clit.
"R-Rengoku..."
His glowing eyes peeked up at me.
“Kyojuro.” He corrected.
“If you are to be my mate, you will not address me so formally anymore.” He growled, sucking marks onto my thighs.
He returned to licking and teasing my pussy.
I can't believe this is happening.
I felt the heat building in my stomach, the pressure building as he lapped at my sensitive spot.
"Ahh... K-Kyojuro, I'm close," I moaned.
"Perfect," he rumbled, his echoing voice vibrating through me.
His grip on my thighs tightened as he pushed his tongue deeper into me, licking and sucking at my throbbing sex.
The pleasure was overwhelming.
"I'm gonna cum... I'm gonna cum," I moaned softly.
He growled continuing his assault on my clit.
His voice, his touch, it was all too much.
I cried out, my body shuddering and spasming as the intense waves of pleasure crashed over me.
Kyojuro held me in place as my orgasm washed over me, his tongue never slowing its pace.
The pleasure was so intense I couldn’t think straight. My body had never felt so used like this.
As my mind started to settle I couldn’t help but crave more. And by the way he was looking up at me between my thighs. I could tell that wasn’t enough for him either.
Once he arose up in front of me, I took in his body. The ripped muscles beneath his blonde and red fur. His tail and ears, and now…
Now for the first time I’m finally looking all of him. His cock was the biggest I’d ever seen. It was thick and curved and had a large knot close to the base.
my body shivered with pleasure, I wanted more. I needed more.
As if reading my thoughts, he smirked and positioned himself between my thighs, his cock teasing my entrance.
"Tell me what you want," he taunted.
"I... I want you, Kyojuro. I want all of you," I panted, my body aching with desire.
That was all the encouragement he needed.
He grabbed both my ankles holding them with one of his large hands above my head.
I’d be lying if I said this position wasn’t slightly embarrassing, but at this rate I didn’t care. I don’t know if it was the cryptids influence or if I was just fucked up in the head, but I was willing to let this monster use me in any way he wished.
With one smooth motion, he pushed his thick cock inside of me.
I moaned out as he stretched and filled me.
He paused, letting me adjust to his size.
"My mate," he growled, his eyes locking onto mine.
I panted, feeling his cock twitch inside me.
He started moving slowly, his cock rubbing against my walls, sending sparks of pleasure through my body.
"Oh god..."
I couldn’t hold back any longer.
I gripped the grass below me tightly as he slid in and out of me, his knot pushing against my entrance with every thrust.
The pressure was building, the heat spreading through my body as he picked up the pace.
"Oh fuck," I moaned, my body trembling with pleasure.
He clicked and growled in pleasure, his glowing eyes staring into me with a mixture of passion and possession.
He was relentless, his hips pounding into me with a primal fury.
"Fuck, Kyojuro," I cried, my body surrendering to the ecstasy.
The pleasure was so intense, it was almost painful.
His eyes flashed with desire, his pace never faltering.
I felt his cock twitch inside me, his knot pushing into my entrance stretching me even wider.
It was painful but I didn’t care, the high of my orgasm made it bearable. His cock was buried so deep inside me I thought my mind was going to blank with every thrust.
even after I came he still kept going, chasing his own release.
His rhythm grew more erratic, his breathing labored.
"Mine, my mate." he growled.
"Yes," I panted.
My words sent him over the edge.
He let out a roar, his teeth digging into my neck as he spilled his seed inside me, filling me with his thick, warm cum.
I cried out in pain and pleasure, feeling his cock pulsing inside me, his cum not spilling a drop due to the thick knot inside of me.
I was breathless, my body exhausted and sore, but my mind was completely satisfied.
"My beautiful human." he whispered, his voice heavy with lust and possession.
I held onto him, my body still trembling.
He released his grip on me, his clawed hand releasing my ankles.
I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed as he pulled his softening cock out of me.
As the warmth of his body faded, the chill of the evening air set in, sending shivers down my spine.
But before the cold could sink in, he covered my body with his own, his warm, heavy frame keeping the chill away.
His face nuzzled into the crook of my neck, where he had bit me. his nose taking in his scent on my skin.
What have I done?

Y/N Perspective.
It's early, too early. I don't know why I keep doing this to myself. For weeks now, I've followed the same routine: waking up, wandering the forest surrounding my village, and searching. Every day, I look for a sign that something, or someone, is out there. Yet somehow, I always come up empty-handed. It's not just me, though. My entire group is burnt out on this whole thing.
Searching for monsters has never been a passion of mine, but when you're down to your last cent and someone offers you free food and board in exchange for your help, how can you say no?
I still remember when Miss Tamayo approached me. It was snowing hard up in the mountains, and she saw how badly I was struggling in the cold. She was kind, took me in, and talked to me at length about the mystical monsters and beings her group had been studying and searching for. I'll admit, it was interesting, but I didn't believe any of it was real.
We've all heard the tales—the stories of the creatures we now call the Hashira, the terrifying monsters that once protected their respective villages and residents. While they made for nice campfire stories, there was simply no way these beings existed. Even if they did, why would they stay hidden? Wouldn't they seek revenge on the villagers who used them and then cast them out? None of it made any sense to me.
Despite voicing my concerns and disbelief to Miss Tamayo, she still wanted to help me, as long as I was willing to help her. And that's why I'm here now.
I'm in the middle of this forest. The sky is grey and cloudy, with rain surely on the way. It's foggy, and visibility is poor. Since I'm new and have only been working with these monster hunters for a few weeks, they've given me a basic route—one that minimizes the risk of encountering a real threat. Tamayo wanted me to look for a special flower that supposedly grows around here, but I haven't had any luck yet.
If I can't even find a flower, I don't feel like I'll make a promising monster hunter. At least, that's what Yushiro, one of Tamayo's most relentless supporters, thinks. Though we are civil to each other's faces, he openly voices his concerns about having me around. He says it's a waste of time to bring along someone who doesn't even "believe in the cause."
I suppose I can't argue with him too much. I've walked this same route every day for a few weeks now and still haven't come across the flower Tamayo sent me to find. Maybe it really is a waste of time—
My thoughts are interrupted by a rustling sound in the distance. My body immediately tenses up. I glance around, but the thick fog makes it hard to see. All this talk and thinking about monsters and mythical creatures is starting to get to me.
What was that? Did I lose the path? No, that's just me overthinking it, thanks to Tamayo and Yushiro filling my head with stories. I'm just being paranoid.
The rustling resumes, this time from the opposite direction. I can feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.
"Tamayo? Yushiro? Is that you?" I call out into the fog.
I wait for their reply, but none comes. Adding to the unease, the air feels hotter now, and a strange clicking noise echoes through the area, growing closer and closer.
What should I do? Should I run?
As the clicking grew louder, I made up my mind and began to sprint through the fog, knocking branches and anything else in my path aside. At some point, I lost my footing. The trail must have ended, and I twisted my ankle on a tree root protruding from the ground.
My ears were filled with the sound of my own breathing, and it felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest. This can't be happening. I was sent on an easy route to fetch a flower, not to be chased by some crazy monster.
I tried to stand, but the pain in my ankle was too much. I strained to stay silent and listened for the clicking sounds; they were faint but still there. I had to get out of here.
Grabbing onto the trunk of the tree I had tripped over, I pulled myself up. It hurt, but the adrenaline rush made it barely bearable.
The fog was finally starting to lift, and I could see the path I usually followed. I must have accidentally stepped off it while running. As long as I could get back, Tamayo would be able to help me with my ankle.
As I started to move slowly, a red light in the distance suddenly caught my attention. Squinting, I tried to make out what it could be and then realized it was two red lights, gradually moving closer to me.
Eyes.
Panic surged through me as I scrambled to move, trying to go as fast as my injured ankle would allow, grabbing onto anything I could for support.
This can't be happening. I refuse to believe any of this is real. How could all those stupid campfire stories be true? And why, out of all the monster hunters in Tamayo's group, did I have to be the unlucky one?
I wanted to scream and yell for help, but I was so deep in this forest nobody from the safe house would hear me.
It hurts. It hurts so much. It feels like my body is going to give out any minute, but my mind is racing, forcing me to keep moving.
The clicking is now accompanied by a deep growling, making it sound all the more intense. Whatever this thing was, it sounded terrifying. And those deep red eyes didn’t really help with my imagination.
Then it happened. I had to take a knee. The strain on my ankle kept getting worse the more I moved. I'm done for. Whatever this thing is, it's going to kill me.
At least Yushiro can look at my corpse and say, "I told you so."
As the clicking and growling got even closer, there was a small thump to the ground as whatever was about to kill me approached. I shut my eyes and prepared for whatever my fate was.
I felt it stop a few feet behind me. This monster is just staring at me. I’m too afraid to face it. I don’t want the last thing I see to be those glowing red eyes.
"What are you doing? Why did you run away?"
My heart nearly stopped. That voice—it was deep, loud, and had an eerie, echoing effect. Was this monster talking to me?
I took a deep breath. What should I say? Should I beg for my life?
"I asked you a question, human. Why are you running away?"
I could hear a hint of annoyance in its tone. The last thing I wanted was to anger a mythical being. I slowly turned my body. The sight that met me made speaking even more difficult.
It was tall. He was tall—about eight and a half feet.
He had blonde fur and a long mane of hair with red accents scattered throughout, tall pointed ears, and those glowing red eyes.
My lips parted. I wanted to answer, to beg for my life and apologize for intruding. But his appearance was so intimidating, so... enchanting.
I froze as he moved closer.
"Can you not speak, human? Are you afraid of me?" He chuckled. His laugh was as intense as his voice.
"I can speak," I managed to choke out.
His eyes seemed to light up, and he smiled.
Dear God. Those teeth. Long and sharp. If he wasn’t terrifying before, he definitely was now. I felt my heart beating rapidly. I knew I was done for, but this was all too much.
"What is your name, human? I've seen you walk this path for days now. I deserve to know who intrudes on my territory daily." Instead of anger, his tone was oddly amused.
"My name is Y/N L/N." I tried to keep the nervousness out of my voice but didn’t do a great job.
"Well then, Y/N L/N. You wandered away from your usual trail as soon as I got close to you. Why did you run away? Aren't you supposed to be looking for me?" He laughed, a mocking sound.
"You are a 'monster hunter,' aren't you?"
I didn't know what to say. He was right. I was supposed to be looking for him. That was the whole point of Tamayo taking me on, but I hadn’t expected it all to be so real.
"I didn’t believe in monsters. I was sent to look for a specific flower," I mumbled.
"Didn't believe?" He moved closer, towering over me. "Tell me then, Y/N L/N, do you believe now?" He smiled, those sharp teeth gleaming.
I felt my body run cold. He was terrifying, not just in appearance but in his entire demeanor.
“Yes, I do.”
For a moment, silence filled the air, broken only by the sound of the wind and his slight clicking.
“What is your name?” I asked.
“I am Kyojuro Rengoku, the protector of this land and its residents.” The echo in his voice cemented my assumptions.
There was no mistaking it—I had run into one of the Hashira.
I’d heard the stories, the legends of Rengoku, the fierce protector of this area. He was kind until he wasn’t. Then, humans saw him as a threat and banished him to the forest.
He kneeled down in front of me, still on the ground.
“You don’t seem too surprised. Have you heard of me?” His ear twitched, and I noticed the massive tail behind him curl around his body.
I took a deep breath and nodded. “I’ve heard the stories. You’re the Hashira associated with fire.”
He perked up at my response.
“So, my legends live on! How amusing!” He laughed.
His voice was so loud, it was almost funny.
Why is he acting like this? I thought he would have killed me by now.
“You’re hurt,” he said, gesturing to my ankle.
“Yeah... I sprained it,” I replied, shifting awkwardly.
“Yes, I know. From running away from me.” His tail flicked slightly, and a smirk formed on his face.
I didn’t know what to say or do. I was completely at a loss. Here I was, casually having a conversation with one of the scariest and deadliest creatures to walk the earth.
“What are you going to do with me? If you’re going to kill me, can’t you just get it over with?”
He looked at me, a mix of confusion and amusement in his eyes.
“Why are you so desperate to die so soon? Do you not enjoy my company?” His voice echoed with a chuckle.
Is he being serious right now?
“No— I’m just... confused. Why are you still talking to me? I’m a monster hunter, not a very good one, but still a monster hunter. Shouldn’t you just kill me and get it over with?” I was desperate for an answer, needing to know if I should prepare to die or not.
He stared at me for a moment, as if deep in thought, his ears twitching slightly.
“No, I don’t think I’ll kill you,” he said plainly. “However, only on the condition that you continue to return here. Tell no one of your kind about me and continue to come see me.”
I sat there, dumbfounded. This terrifying creature was willing to spare my life as long as I returned for his company?
“Why would you want to see me again?” I asked.
He smiled, baring his long, sharp teeth, his ears perking up.
“Because, Y/N L/N, you are the first person to talk to me in a long time. To be quite honest, something inside me is telling me that you and I are really going to like each other.”
His tone shifted, becoming more sinister. What did this creature have planned for me?
And why was I excited to find out?

Kochō Shinobu Smut Headcannons
18+ Content MDNI!!🚫
First time not writing for Kyojuro! Hope you enjoy and please let me know how I did!!
-tried to make these as GN as possible<3
• She's definitely a Dom. On some days, when she's exhausted from a long mission or busy at the butterfly estate, she may allow you to take control. However, most of the time, she prefers to be in charge.
• She’s into thighs, regardless whether they are soft or muscular. She doesn't discriminate in her appreciation. She likes to gently stroke them with her fingers, placing sweet, tender kisses upon them. On the other hand, she may be into sucking and biting on them, leaving distinctive marks to show you who you belong to.
• Do not let her pretty face and alluring voice mislead you; she loves to degrade you. She adores the humiliatingly desperate expression that appears on your face when she touches you.
• She’s incredibly petty. If she catches you flirting with someone else, prepare yourself for what’s coming. She’ll shower you with affection to make you feel special, but then she’ll twist things around, making you feel exposed and vulnerable before she delivers her punishment for your behavior.
• There’s definitely some sadist tendencies if you couldn’t already tell.
• Her forms of punishment can escalate dramatically based on the situation. On the milder side, she might merely restrain you and leave marks all over your body as a subtle reminder that you belong to her. Alternatively, she may go so far as to mount your face and relentlessly fuck you until only her name registers in your memory.
• Shinobu is somewhat bipolar when it comes to sex. You can usually tell what your in for based of how the day has been going.
• If the day has flowed easily, without much stress, you can expect her loving side to come out. As much as she loves to degrade you, she can also take pleasure in the sweet, gentle moments you both share. You can expect plenty of words of affirmation, long, passionate kisses, and the sweetest sex imaginable.
• On the flip side, if she’s dealing with a lot of stress throughout the day or notices you’re not meeting her expectations, brace yourself for stricter consequences. These could involve various disciplinary measures, such as: spanking, pulling on your hair, orgasm denial, biting, the list goes on.
• A noticeable authority kink exists within her, as she takes immense pride in her role as a Hashira. She expects obedience and respect towards her position, promptly reminding you of your subordinate status if any attempts at insubordination come into play.
• If there’s one thing she believes in its aftercare. Regardless of what kind of sex you got that day. The way she treats you afterward never fails to impress. She can transition from being the most heartless and sadistic person to running her fingers through your hair and covering you in kisses, or simply enhancing the amazing gentle moment you shared. It doesn't matter to her—either way, you'll be treated well.
• Teasing and Edging you come second nature to her. She loves to subtly touch you, whispering in your ear, dropping hints of what's to come later. Witnessing your flustered and worked up state throughout the day really gets her going.
• Begging 24/7. She loves it. She wants you practically in tears calling her name over and over just to so you can finish without her ruining it. She takes a lot of pride in having you under her control, and if you aren’t begging to cum you won’t be cumming at all.
• Favorite Positions (not gender specific): Face sitting, Thigh riding, Mutual masturbation, 69.
• Kinks: Orgasm control, Spanking, Sadism, Humiliation, Knife play, Spontaneous sex, Dom/Sub, Teasing, Bondage, Mirror sex.
