I've been thinking about Sebek a lot lately, especially in time travel au's, and I was wondering what you would think of an au where it was after the malleus overblot, but during the hypothetical grim one. Like in an au where he and the first years are close and they all use their powers or magic to send him back in time. Maybe it was his unique magic...

Either wAY The other first years should somehow get sent back in time too, just a little later than him so they can all basically rub it in how much closer they are to him than the Dia3.

Anyway, I love love love timetravel aus. Especially when you take a character like Sebek who has so muchhhh room fpr character growth/development. Like you best believe Sebek from the start and post Malleus overblot are two different people. (Not really but you catch my drift)

Also, the idea of it being part of his unique magic is interesting because from what we do know he basically becomes like lightning. Which for time travel could be an interesting concept (travel at speed of light, time warping as a result etc etc) so that could be something to play around with. (For example instead of being on purpose maybe Sebek, in a moment of desperation uses his unique magic like that unknowingly and just throws himself into the past??)

As for first years getting sent back too, this could go one of two ways with them: the residue from Sebeks Unique Magic somehow also sends them back OR they do some stupid stuff and somehow go barreling head first into the past. (Or for angst death??? Idk could add a bit of interesting twists if the first years heavily jaded go back into the past and see a slightly less jaded Sebek. Funnier if they assume this is first year Sebek NOT time travelled so they act like some overprotective bodyguards eyeing up Dia3 like enemies).

If following that route I think it would be interesting if Dia3 and first years have a stupid misunderstanding. Sebek after timetravel obviously acts differently to his pre time travel self. Dia 3 assumes this is due to the influence of the first years (bullying, being bad influences etc etc). Whilst the first years see Sebek being all melancholy like and immediately assume it's the fault of Dia3.

However, if we roll with the more lighthearted option I deffo think first years would be all smug about how well they know Sebek. Silver wants to hang out with Seb? Too bad he already promised to go watch Aces basketball match (que smug grin). Lillia wants Sebek to try his cooking? Too bad Jack dragged him out for training. Malleus needs something? The prefect and Grimm called him over for his help with something.

The absolute smugness from the first years would be hilarious trust. I'm even thinking it spreads to the dorms, any dorm with first years just accepts that the new firsties are oddly close (trauma bonded but whatever).

Lowk I just want the first years to mention furure inside jokes that Dia 3 have no knowledge of and for Sebek to just bust out laughing. Like surely '_____' isn't that funny.

The odd Ramshackle Prefect. They appeared under mysterious circumstances to the NRC and have been living at the Ramshackle dorm ever since. As half a student, due to the fact she has a lack of magical talent, she attends her classes with the other half, Grim, a monster that seemingly appeared with her. She mostly helps with other students, although that brings her trouble, as she is seen in many of the incidents that happened on campus.

Headcanons

Half the school still thinks she's a boy due to her more neutral look.

She’s managed to skip years (classes) because she’s ahead in school. 

(Inspired by the fact that she can’t learn much due to her lack of ability to do magic, therefore she could excel in subjects without it.)

Her nickname is “ghost shrimpy” as she has the ability to appear out of nowhere (she's just quiet)

All her outfits are from the lost and found, either sewn from broken or ripped outfits. 

Everyone thinks she’s Crowley's kid because of her “name”. No one knows her real name

Although in the Mountain Lovers Club, she gets dragged to a few other clubs by others often. (Usually by Idia to be his translator)

She takes extra jobs outside of NRC, so her governmental papers have Divus and Crowley as her parents. (it was a long process)

She regularly gets into fights with Floyd, and gets called the little Leech sometimes because of her energy, yet constant dead expression. 

Crewel is her other father. Likes her because she follows all safety procedures in science. 

Adores mushrooms, didn’t join the Mountain lovers club, Jade just found her with an arm full of mushrooms and it was assumed. 

Has a secret admirer, no one knows who it is.

People think her and Silver are dating - they aren’t but they like to take naps together

Okay so, in this situation it's very dependant on where he time travels from. See most peoples immediate assumption would be after an overblot went wrong and he died or something or after the overblots in general.

But imagine this, things do go wrong in Malleus' or Grimms overblot, I'm thinking Yuu dies, maybe the first years. Regardless, Sebek doesn't. He lives on with the regrets of what he could have done differently and becomes a jaded old man. His relationship with Malleus is never the same, he just can't look at him the same way.

So when he finally passes on and wakes up as his younger self, he's: old, jaded and almost reminiscent of Baul-Sebek, not the loud Sebek of the past. Just think about it.

On the flip side, if you wanted to take the other approach of him going back while he's still young, it has so much angst potential. Because all the events will be fresh in his mind and he just can't quite look at anyone without getting sick.

If it's a young enough time travel (before Nrc) he stops hanging out with Silver and throws himself into training. Or he begins to hang out with Silver more but almost like a bodyguard, trying to see where he can change the future.

As for other people, like the first years, I'd just like to say. Imagine being friends with someone and then suddenly they don't know you, have no recollection of the memories you've made, the conversations you've had. It would sting.

For the overblot gang, it would be difficult, because Sebek want them to avoid overblot but the Riddle before overblot is so strict and how would he even go about talking to Leona or Jamil??? (Sebek taking over Yuus job as unpaid therapist arc?(making friends with the upper years and becoming their honorary sibling arc??? Idk just some food for thought))

Something else interesting to consider is whether Sebek would stay in the same dorm. Rook changed dorms after first year after all, what's to say that a Sebek that has gone through so much wouldn't change too(what potential dorm, I'll leave for you to think about).

Anyways this is just some ideas to play around with, main point is that you should definitely write the fic😼😼😼

The angst potential is actually through the roof, but so is the fluff and self discovery potential.

Like, Malleus, finally coming to terms with what triggered his overblot is suddenly confronted with another person leaving him, someone he thought would always be there. Unlike Silver, Sebek is half fae, so theoretically he could atleast live long enough to accompany Malleus. Now though, Sebek is potentially leaving? With Jamil Viper of all people. Malleus probably locks himself in his room to brood or something because I feel like after the overblot he wouldn't want to try keep Sebek chained to him. However, he does noticeably begin to act differently towards Sebek, maybe he won't want to leave if he changes? Basically, he's in turmoil.

Lillia on the other hand, can't process this. We know from Leonas overblot that sometimes Lillia is, insensitive, in how he addresses things. So I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up blurting something he'd regret. Something that indirectly blames Sebek, because Lillia thought that after he left atleast Malleus would have Sebek and Silver but now Sebek wants to leave??? It ends up with a tense atmosphere in Diasomnia and when Sebek begins to sleep over even more at Scarabia, it's too late to apologise. (Why did they never notice how many of Sebeks things were already in Scarabia, why hadn't they noticed him drifting away?)

Silver is definitely most affected. Sebek has been a constant in his life since a young age. It was a given, they'd become knights together and protect Malleus and live happily ever after. Why is it wrong? I lowkey seeing him being slightly jealous, because although Silver has other friends, Sebek was always his friend. So now that Sebek has begun to branch out, it feels wrong. Logically, he knows he should be happy for Sebek but.... he can't bring himself to do that. He's definitely the one who tries to convince Sebek the most, it probably only serves the opposite purpose as it only makes Sebek notice how little Silver understands why he'd even consider this.

Also, on an interesting note, I think Riddle would actually support Sebek to do what he wants. Riddle, due to being in the same club as Sebek has noticed how beneficial the friendship with Jamil has been for Sebek and after his overblot, he can understand why Sebek wouldn't want to follow a set path. Since childhood Riddle was forced to follow the expectations of his mother. Besides, he is fond of Sebek and finally being able to see the Sebek who isn't only focused on Malleus os a delight, he never realised Sebek was such a fan of opera. It makes Riddle reevaluate his own hobbies a bit and begin to try new things, sometimes with Sebek and Jamil sometimes with others.

The first years are divided. On one hand, being Malleus' retainer has been such a huge part of Sebeks life for so long. They could never imagine him NOT being Malleus' guard. On the other, Sebek deserves to experience the world, he deserves to choose his own future and he looks so happy when he hangs out with Jamil.

Over all, Kalim and Riddle are definitely the ones who take the news the best. Riddle because of what I said earlier. Meanwhile, Kalim, though sad to part with Jamil, understands that all things change. After the overblot, he realised keeping Jamil locked to his side would only drive them further apart. So he decides to support them fully. His conversation with Sebek only confirms his thoughts, Sebek is kind. Kalim knows Jamil wouldn't have offered if he truly didn't want Sebek to travel with him.

As for whether Dia3 make up with Sebek? It depends whether they can ever accept that Sebek has grown and changed.

But genuinely as a little thing, I think that would be so fun. Like, imagine, Jamil who has been forced to constantly be meeker and to lower himself to appease people and has always had the looming future of being a mere servant. Then we have Sebek, loud but still has that future of having to lower himself to someone.

Like, Jamil would probably hear tidbits about Sebek and the fact that their similar, like we already know that Sebek and he are both bodyguards, and despite Sebek 'liking' his future (Quotations because does he like it or is that just all he's ever known) or is he just resigned? So Jamil takes one look at Sebek and just goes 'this one, this ones mine'.

Like at some point Sebek becomes known as the honorary Scarabia first year because Jamil (I'm picturing this post his overblot) is absolutely overprotective of his first year. Like, Jamil teaches Sebek things that Sebek would've never really spent much thought on otherwise. They cook together, Sebek learns Jamils style of dance and in return Sebek teaches Jamil how to ride on horseback and introduces him to obscure operas as he begins to come out of his shell. Jamil begins to see more to Sebek than the Malleus obsessed,loud knight everyone else sees. It comes to the point that when people see one they ask where the other is (enter angst about Kalim remembering when he was like that with Jamil????)

Also, Diasomnia in all of this, they just assume it's Sebeks admiration for a senior. In the actual game, Sebek also admires Jamil, so for them, it would be a case of Sebek just thinking he found a new person to respect. They only really notice things are different when Sebeks absence makes it known. It makes itself known through the lack of a sonorous voice waking Silver up; through the lack of joyful compliments towards Malleus; through the lack of panicked flails as he tried to mitigate Lillias disasters in the kitchen. They find themselves oddly out of place without their first year, yet now, they have no idea to reach out, they can only watch as Sebek laughs in a way they've never seen before (had they ever seen him laugh so hard he snorts?)

Enter, the conversation. Personally, I think it would be after Malleus' overblot, like not even graduation. Jamil realizes not only does he want to travel the world, but he wants his friend to do so too. In the moments where everything was in limbo, Jamil regrets that Sebek has never been able to think of a future that deviates from his set path and he decides to try change that.

Whether Sebek takes that chance, is an entirely different story :)

Heya, so I'm really new to the game n fandom and haven't really had many interactions with Diasomnia... except Sebek due to the current event.

I just wanted to get to know more about the general Diasomnia relationships because if Sebek is thinking of them enough to get them gifts it must be a nice found family right???

But on tumblr it doesn't sound like it? I don't mind spoilers but are the rest of Diasomnia actually that bad with him?

Dhdjdjdi, it's sort of out of character but not really, depends on how you look at it? Maybe I'm just projecting onto Sebek with how he almost seems left out from Diasomnia. I don't know if you get it but while the others in Diasomnia are like found family, he seems like the childhood friend that still hangs out with them but isn't as close. Like in a friend group when everyone has an inside joke you aren't in on? I think this is in part to Lillia being a parental figure to Malleus and Silver, while Sebek does have a family of his own. Also, coupled with the fact he is aiming to be Malleus' guard, I'm sure it's hard to be as close to someone who will be your future boss. I'm sure Diasomnia isn't as angsty as portrayed on here but I still don't think Sebek is as close to Diasomnia.

The reason I personally explore the idea of Sebek being more left out is because I really understand that feeling and just like Sebek as a character, so it sort of annoyed me when people just boiled him down to a shouty, annoying dude. Overall, it's up to interpretation, I just really like Sebek, if you want to see them as a cute found family, go ahead :)

Personally, I think the cute found family AND Sebek being slightly sidelined by Diasomnia can exist at the same time. Relationships are complex and it's not going to be one straight conclusion. I definitely think Diasomnia and Sebek care about eachother! In fact, I'd really like to explore the idea of Sebek and Diasomnia bonding more now that they are in the same dorm :)

To conclude, yeah a lot of the content about Sebek on here focuses on the negatives of Diasomnias relationships with Sebek. However, this doesn't mean there aren't positives.

Anyways, aside from my little tangent I hope you enjoy playing and don't attach much importance to the way the fandom characterises things and make up your own ideas <3

For even more angst, Sebek always portrays the character negatively (shine a light on that inferiority complex).

So the older years just begin to look out for Sebek more and try help him out.

Also, Diasomnia remain unaware of the actual contents of the book so they just start giving him books about knights and stuff in assumption that is the genre Sebek writes. It makes Sebek think that they are disappointed in his hobby and the next book he releases is absolutely depressing. Everyone who is in the know is worried for Sebek.

The teachers (Trein and Crewel) begin to hint at Sebek that he can talk to them if anything.

From then on, Idia sort of thinks of Sebek as a novel buddy, he knows he's a bit strict but maybe it's a case of him being shy about his hobbies, Idia understands (he doesn't).

Then, maybe a movie adaptation is introduced and Vil is auditioning for a role, for some reason it becomes a school event (maybe casting for extras) so everybody comes along. Then, when it's time for the casting directors and the author to come out, everybody just sees Sebek come out and are confused.

It doesn't even click in anyones mind that he could be the author. Then, when someone who gets rejected is annoyed and asks what right Sebek even has to judge him, it's revealed. It's shocking for everyone, what do you mean Sebek writes novels??? (I'd like to imagine it to be a romance novel for even more shock value).

I imagine of the main cast only pomefiore, the first years, Cater and Ruggie are there to witness this. Maybe octavinelle for some shady reasons. (Ruggie for the extra cash that being an extra could bring).

Yeah, when word gets around, everyone is in disbelief. Especially Diasomnia, they thought they knew Sebek (angst potential).

Expanding on this but Vils morning shed would be crazy💀💀💀 like you already know he has heatless hair curlers silk pillow cases and all the rest of that.

You know when people draw fanart of characters waking up or something like that, they always have their hair down and look flawless. I just really want to see one where it's one character who looks lovingly over at their partner and they have a full morning shed type of appearance (like face mask, chin strap, heatless curler) or even one character looking like they just got thrown down a mountain, like, stop preaching unrealistic beauty standards smh(joke)

Sebek (After malleus OB(that ended vry badly)) goes back in time, BUT not at the start of the year. He goes back in time as a child (4-8 y/o).

Like, he regains his memories thru a dream, he wakes up screaming and crying. His family js thinks that he had a nightmare or smth.

Now, he's trying to better himself. He's studying rlly hard (particularly abt overblots), and trys to be nicer to his father.

When he gets into NRC, he expects to get into diasomnia. Instead he's sorted somewhere else,

Me + dorm swapping Sebek is basically my whole thing now (I am not complaining >:D)

So, assuming this, Sebek has gone through some absolutely traumatising stuff before being stuffed into his child body. Perhaps the reason he went back in time is actually because either he or Malleus die. (Malleus because maybe it caused a huge burst of magic...enough to send Sebek back)

So 6 year old Sebek wakes up absolutely in shambles, he watched his whole life play out and end.

Because of Sebek and his personality, I think he'd blame himself, maybe for not being strong or smart enough to protect Malleus. So he throws himself into studying, improving himself. His parents are worried about him but Sebek just drives himself into the ground studying and training in an endless loop.

Eventually, it gets to the point he is physically and mentally exhausted, maybe Sebeks dad thinks this is a result of the bullying he received for being half fae and just breaks down in front of Sebek. He thinks it's his fault his baby is hurting himself. This leads to Sebek seeing how hurt his family are by Sebeks self destructive behaviour and he breaks down in tears too. In his past life one of his main regrets was how he treated his father so he seeks to remedy it in this life.

He then decides to bring the whole family closer. Although his grandfather wasn't the nicest he still cared for Sebek and Sebek remembered that. When nobody else in his family understood Sebeks personality, Baul understood. So he doesn't want to die and leave his family on strained terms like in the last life.

Atleast if he dies again, they'll have eachother.

So through, some hard work , Sebek brings the family closer, he still has little to no friends, as unlike the last life he has still not been sent to Lillia for training(Sebek dreads seeing Diasomnia again).

When one day Baul asks if Sebek wants to train with a person Baul knows, he almost says yes before hesitating, he had never been as close to them as they were with eachother, so, if in this life he watched from afar..... maybe things would go better? (He ignores the way his hands tremble at the thought of seeing Malleus again, he nearly envisions the sound of tearing flesh before snapping back into reality).

So Sebek continues his efforts, he studies and trains like a man possessed.

When the day comes for his sorting ceremony Sebek doesn't look up until his name is called.

He doesn't look back (perhaps if he did he'd see Lillias anguished face, deapite not knowing the first year he feels as if he does)

So Sebek steps towards the mirror. Knowing.

"Savanaclaw!"

His eyes widen.

Okay so a few explanations of some of the details.

I'm rolling with the idea that Malleus died while overblotting and the sheer amount of magic reversed time.

Only Sebek fully remembered what happened (for now...) whilst others may feel deja vu or get flashbacks. Which is why Lillia feels something at seeing Sebek despite technically not meeting him. (For max angst potential everyone else slowly regain their memories and start to investigate why Sebek is so different)

You know when people draw fanart of characters waking up or something like that, they always have their hair down and look flawless. I just really want to see one where it's one character who looks lovingly over at their partner and they have a full morning shed type of appearance (like face mask, chin strap, heatless curler) or even one character looking like they just got thrown down a mountain, like, stop preaching unrealistic beauty standards smh(joke)

Also to add, I reread the newest post, and the fact that animas always preferred silver kinda hurt my heart.

I’m not going to write as much but imagining younger Sebek trying to befriend forest animals as a kid because he had no friends, but they all ran away from him, only to flock at the human, Silver.

History repeats itself with students avoiding him, but sometimes(I’m unsure, I’ve seen some vignettes where I think a few liked Silver) going to Silver instead.

He can't help but wonder if it's because something is wrong with him, it makes him hate his half human status even more. Maybe if he wasn't so different he'd actually be able to fit in (he ignores the way Silver can fit in seamlessly with bith fae and humans alike.....maybe it's just Sebek...)
