Of course suffering is worse and so unnecessary. I'm not one to pop a pill but using over the counter pain killers such as Tylenol or non steriodal anti-inflammatory drugs like Advil or Aleve for "OCCASIONAL" headaches is OK. But if you're getting a lot of headaches and you've been downing Pills more than a few times a week to try to treat them, the meds could actually be causing the pain. It's a phenomenon called medication overuse or rebound headaches. Experts aren't sure why they happen, but it could be that over using the pills affect the way nerves receive pain messages from the brain. If that's what seems to be going on, stop taking the drugs and the rebound effect should fade over a few weeks, though it may get worse before it gets better. Plus for some people using NSAIDs daily for more than 2 weeks or so raises the risk for kidney problems and stomach ulcers either of which would be much worse than a little temple throbbing.
