I think Bruce's anti-murder philosophy would translate better if it wasn't portrayed by writers who obviously want him to kill someone lol
#i mean. ‘they write it off as a political belief’. it’s just my interpretation of the character despite it accidentally becoming canon#but like. b was made by jewish writers. b was accidentally made jewish via the kanes.#pikuach nefesh explicitly puts saving a soul over like everything else#it can be a trauma response but to me it’s v much so a result of religious beliefs#so. while ‘haha b not killing’ jokes can be funny when ppl take them seriously it’s like… u do not understand where it’s coming from#or b’s character#its like. b’s written by a bunch of ppl who believe in jason’s ideology despite writing b.

the dramatic swing away from drake hate that i’ve seen happening recently is so funny. yall realize people and especially parents can love and want the best for kids but be bad parents/abusive regardless of their intentions, right. you are aware that jack & janet cared about tim and wanted the best for him and were nonetheless Not The Best Parents, right. this is just ‘it only counts as abuse if it’s physical’ again.

anyway i bring that up because i think jason's singular hobby is that he's a line cook. which you would argue isn't a hobby at all and i would agree with you but Jason doesn't know how to have fun outside of the context of work and restaurants take all kinds of nutjobs. he interviews and shit and gets the job because he doesn't care about things like "being paid" a "livable wage" and seemed like he was on the least amount of drugs at the time of the interview. upon showing up the first day he's getting settled on the line and the servers come in to be like hey whats up man welcome and like the 5th server is none other than dick grayson. they look at each other in silent horror for 5 seconds before dick visibly comes to some sort of decision and is like. Hi Man I'm Rich Nice To Meet You. and jason is like. im jason. and then they have to pretend not to know each other from there on out until dick gets fired for exhibiting freak behaviors
#working on imagining everyone else in the restaurant business as well as a result of this.#tim would be a host or bartender or something but the important part is#he’d come to work in a slightly different persona every single time. SOMETHING is diff every time. you just don’t know what.#he uses it to practice out new fake identities 👍#but also yeah 100% to how line cooks are. <- have worked restaurant#however the waiters were all also doing and encouraging drugs. not just the cooks

yk i know it may not make full sense to make steph the red hood equivalent in an au but it makes a helluva lot more sense to me than making tim the red hood, even if he’s the one that died. at a certain point you’re just making jason but short and good with computers and with no context as to why he cares so much about crime alley and the surrounding areas
#was thinking abt this today…#steph makes the most sense for rh bc she like jason is very self absorbed/selfish in a blunt way of putting it#she’s also always been from the suburbs. making any interaction she has w crime alley/lower gotham to be. very interesting. to me#but she & jason feel relatively isolated character wise to me. steph’s a major loner and jason didn’t interact w others to the same extent#dick & tim did by virtue of them having more time & connections w other vigilantes#which does lend both of them to being red hood better#while even w revrobs where tim dies it’s so difficult to make him rh bc even in scenarios where u set it up so he *has* to kill#(ie league. joker junior. talon. anything else u can think of) after he gets out of that situation he stops killing. bc he has a very strong#moral code personally.#also tim would not be killed by joker in revrob aus im so sorry he does not have the drive that jason did that ended up w jason dead#like if u find some other reason. whatever. but tim’s not the type to go into a fight without backup or anything#that’s steph! and just going ‘well 2nd robin needs to be killed by joker so tim goes unprepared into fight’ is just ehhhhh. that’s not tim#like if u find some way to make it work (ie joker junior personally looking for tim kinda thing) it works well enough. but yknow#hence why tim almost always situates himself into an oracle like position in my revrobs bc even when he dies/has killed#he still has his own strong moral code.#i will say tho. tim makes more sense for inner gotham. he’s always been an inner gotham kid. *steph* is a suburbanite#duke is narrows & jason crime alley. it *does* make sense for tim to know more abt gotham & the lower parts of gotham.#what *doesnt* make sense is that ppl don’t write rh!tim’s motivations well

as someone who’s never liked timsteph i find it so funny that i just accidentally talked myself into a revrob au of them. revrob au where war games happens, steph (~15) gets captured & tortured, except this time tim (~16) comes in to try & help but due to [unforeseen circumstances] no one comes as backup, and they’re both tortured, leading to steph’s red hood era via being resurrected somehow by arthur brown and tim’s oracle era brought on via complications due to torture.
tim’s the one person steph won’t target, and steph’s the one person tim can’t really get angry with about killing, because they get it.

thinking of a reverse robins au where instead of briefly going to keystone, jack drake packs up and moves to suffolk and then enrolls tim in st. hadrian’s finishing school for girls to try to get a new start and do what’s best for his ‘daughter’. shenanigans go down; tim loses contact with the bats for a bit, and he’s unwillingly inducted into spyral as agent 35.
every so often i remember that one analysis/theory that the drakes were originally going to be spies before the story changed. chameleon!’cannot-be-photographed��!tim. hear me out.
(my thing is: revrob-ing needs new storylines: tim & jason would not have the same origin stories. so the question becomes ‘how do i kill tim/get him out of the equation so people think he’s dead while still respecting his character?’)

Sometimes I miss the early Dick and Damian dynamic so much like you are in your late twenties you've been through so much too young and now your dad is dead and you're worn out and grieving and here comes his larger than life youngest son dumped in your lap. You are fighting a deeply personal and grounded internal struggle and meanwhile your new little ten year old brother is a ninja with PhD level education who likes joyriding the batmobile. Something that will never not be funny to me is how in almost every fic I read which is Tim Drake centric, he /always/ loses his spleen. No matter if he’s a civilian in a coffee shop or a villain or any other au, there’s always some event that sneaks it in in fics.

The only acceptable trans Tim headcanon would be Tim introducing himself to the batfam as a boy from the get-go with such confidence that no one questions him. Then, his first solo case as Robin is investigating the disappearance of Jack and Janet Drake's "daughter," so he pretends to have a twin sister by forging a bunch of documents and photoshopping family pictures. He then fabricates evidence of her death, committing multiple crimes in the process, and holds a fake funeral at the end. Because if his previous name is dead to him, he's gonna kill it the Tim Drake way
#yeah this way is insane enough for it to be something tim would do#the other solution is just. gaslighting everyone into forgetting he wasn’t always publicly a guy or something#a la ‘i lie to batman’#it’ll be 10+ years down the line before ppl realize it bc most ppl’s response to that wouldn’t automatically be ‘oh he’s just trans’#like the bats could objectively figure it out sooner a la batman knowing abt tim’s fake uncle but like. considering the subject matter#i think it’d take longer
