I prefer hours of weeding over using harmful chemicals in my gardens 💚 This one specific weed is the bane of my existence! It grows runners and creates clones, and their roots can grow up to a foot - at least that's what I've been pulling up. Back when I first got chickens, I thought they were the most fascinating things. I would sit and watch them, listen to their sounds, laugh at them chasing each other with bugs, and watch their personalities. Now they're just chickens, they're absorbed and lumped in as another normal part of every day, hectic life. I remind myself to sit with my chickens, to appreciate those everyday things that have lost that fresh and exciting vibe; the way they coo when I pet them, the way they follow me through the garden, eating bugs to produce eggs for us. They're a reminder to appreciate so much more, and that we're so fortunate to be where we are in life, that we own our home, we own our cars, we've learned how to be healthy and consider what we eat. Everyday things get overlooked and aren't appreciated the same way as when they were "new." Today I sat with my chickens. I witnessed, patiently, Zelda pop out an egg. I looked at my promising garden bed, and I worked on clearing it up knowing what it will bring me soon. I appreciated what surrounded me. The only kind of torture a chicken should ever face: not being able to eat all the treats they want from the garden 💚 The biggest motivator that started my health journey was the horrible treatment food animals face during their life. People tell me, "Well I am at the top of the food chain, I don't care, it's tastes so good." Something different stirs in me when I look at eggs or a piece of meat for dinner - how did that animal live before it's life was taken? What did it eat? Was it sick? Was it pumped full of horrible chemicals and hormones and antibiotics? I've been extremely fortunate to have gotten a variance permit from my town to raise my own hens the way I see fit - humanely, free-range, cage-free, and with nonGMO feed. The worlds best therapy 💚 When I'm in my garden I just can't help but let go and unwind. I get the opportunity to appreciate something beautiful and take my attention away from negative vibes. Urban Gardening

"Urban agriculture, urban farming or urban gardening is the practice of cultivating, processing, and distributing food in or around a village, town, or city." During this time of confusing food labeling, genetically engineered crops being distributed, and "all the rage" health and fitness crazes, it's so important to me that I can grow my own food. We don't have a lot of land, I haven't been growing for years and am still learning. I had to fight with my town in order to raise four hens for eggs. Not every crop grows successfully but I remain thankful for what my garden blesses me with. I work all day in an office, so coming home and having control over something like growing my food is a blessing. I consider myself an urban gardener along with many friends. #ShareTheHealth 💚
