There is nothing in Hollow Knight more raw than the Soul Sanctum's lore and I'm standing by that. The moment you think you beat Soul Master only to be dragged down into a pit of bodies of dead Hallownest civilians, you realize the true nature of this experiment the scholars couldn't even complete before losing their minds to the infection. And then when you beat Soul Master for good and try to find your way out of the place, you go down through more rooms of thousands upon thousands of dead bugs, all unwilling sacrifices for the scholars of the Sanctum to fulfill their own wishes for power and immortality, scholars who still failed in the end. Team Cherry what the fuck

Vengeful Spirit

so my 8yo nephew caught me playing godhome and wanted to watch me play hollow knight for a while so I started a new run for him and here are some highlights:

1) [upon seeing thks statue and being told about hornet]

"wow, that's a big spider."

"oh, no, the hollow knight isnt a spider."

"Then what kind of bug is that?"

"... It's a, uh, 'vessel'."

"what's a vessel"

"It's...like a bug but not, it's special."

"oh! So a vessel is a mythological creature."

/me having a fuckin epiphany "......oh my god that's actually-- you're not wrong?"

2) kid lost his goddamn MIND every time an enemy fell off a ledge into acid/water and had me keep going back to the flooded city areas to trick sentries into drowning

3) I've long since memorized early game maps and haven't opened cornifers yet, prompting him to ask me what they're even for

"well, I can mark important places on them later but I haven't bought the upgrades from his wife yet"

[horrified] "he's MARRIED?"

"yep"

"I guess that's life for a bug. Get married and have millions of babies"

"........ Yeah you got that right."

4) pronouncing Quirrel as "Carl"

Spotted @elk-and-thearchivist 's (didn't know which of ur blogs to tag, sorry!!) DBH au and went 😍😍😍 because it looked so cool.

Star (HR300 model but was named by previous owner) was an android given as a gift to a bug with empty nest syndrome. After that bug disappeared, Star was left forgotten in the home they had shared before they were found and eventually woken up by one of Joni's followers.

Learning how much time had passed between last seeing their owner and now, they felt a rush of despair and their programming was broken, allowing deviancy to take hold. They departed the home and took to wandering for friendly companionship, eventually finding their way deep deep down to the ancient lifeblood creature Joni had found, exploration ending in lifeblood infection. They're fine with it though.

Description:

“You’re a traveller? A kindred spirit! We hear it’s good luck for wanderers to meet on an unfamiliar path. It’s luck we need too, for these roads are haunted and danger snarls at us from every dark corner. Our caravan has only a single, humble wish, but it seems now as though it will never be granted…”

A friendly band of travellers trekking the dangerous roads of Pharloom in search of something precious. Masters of the journey, their caravan boasts a bounty of flavourful food, powerful drinks and some surprising amenities. They wish to gather the playful young fleas scattered across the kingdom, but this land is far more dangerous than they thought.

New character from Hollow Knight: Silksong!!! (again)

His name is Grindle.

“Hoho, free at last! Locked up in here much too long, we was! Nasty place to keep a poor little snitchbug! You’re smellin’ fancy though… Bet you got some nice shinies hidden in that cloak!”

A common snitchbug, fixated on thievery. Though he has travelled the lengths of Pharloom, he’s seen most of it through the iron bars of cages and cells.

Free at last, he’s taking full advantage of the kingdom’s ailing state.

This sneaky thief will gladly take rosaries in exchange for snippets of information he has gathered, though his gossip is often of questionable value.
