Repeated time loop/'stuck in a game' fic
This is what happens when you get obsessed with shipping literally every single character but can't bring yourself to abandon an overarching plot
Thinking of seven gamers who play Twisted Wonderland one day wake up as side characters in the game. As in, the faceless/nameless 'Student A' and 'Student B' that we see in TWST. Except the Twisted Wonderland that they've been playing and the TWST game that we know are different. And the world they end up is different from either of those two --> as in, there are Phantoms roaming campus for some reason, and they will chase and kill you, horror movie style.
The Mob Gang all have different personalities, but they share a serious obsession with Twisted Wonderland and whatever dorm they stan the most. They trauma bond and become a ride and die party that always has each other's backs.
But I like to think it's a little funny because like, plot aside, they all have massive crushes/obsessions with their respective dorms, right? But their reasons and ways of showing that affection are all super different.
Like, Diasomnia Mob? She's sweet and shy and will be doing SO MUCH KNITTING for the Diasomnia boys, but they're always anonymous gifts and, like--she'll make a Malleus plushie with all his friends and a felt invitation to the tea party set she makes. But if Lilia were to strike up a casual conversation, vice dormhead checking in on first-year style, she would flat out faint. Her type of crush is the kind that if the object of her affections even talks to her, it's instantly red skin, sweaty hands, body shaking, unable to speak or think coherently, and it's so fucking obvious. A kind of endearing first love...except these are Fae so first = only.
Octavinelle Mob, on the other hand? Most reluctant Octavinelle stan on earth. He will call Azul a scheming bitch to his face and then turn around and buy all Octavinelle-related merch even if he has to mortgage his house to do it. He doesn't want to ever talk to the Octavinelle boys, ever, because he gets all the physical signs of attraction/crushing like the Diasomnia Mob but mentally he would rather die than admit it. Because, like, frankly, these guys are assholes. And he knows it. But he also...can't...stop himself. It's a truly...unfortunate state of events.
Pomefiore Mob is a dungeon-diving sociopath who masquerades as a bookworm when in reality he's got twenty piercings and hunts Phantoms for sport. I sketched out this entire plot because I just wanted to write one scene where the Pomefiore Mob Student (who's laid low this whole time under a bookworm persona) is dragging a Phantom's corpse around the grounds and accidental gets caught by Rook, panics, and UM's away his memories, but Rook is such a freak he immediately notices something's wrong with himself and begins stalker-ing. When Vil realizes there's been this no-name drop-dead gorgeous student in his dorm that's literally been acting a persona this entire time right under his nose? Epel might think it's the best thing since Harveston apples, but Vil is fucking pissed. I imagine it's the satisfaction of finally pinning down the uncontrollable beast known as Pomefiore Mob that sparks their attraction.
Heartslabyul Mob is a rough-spoken protector type who hates violent people but is drawn to the redemption arcs playing out in Deuce and Riddle. He isn't afraid to call people out on their bullshit, but underscoring all of that is someone who will help. I always felt like what the Heartslabyul boys need is a knight---not to save them, but to fight for them. (Slight spoiler, but he himself has emancipated himself before and that is part of what draws him to them: knowing the pain of messy family situations and building something for yourself from the ground up so you can have the haven that your family never gave you.) Man is honestly pretty fearless, which I think is a necessary feature to be able to handle the upper year boys, who struggle with different forms of...if not fear, then social perception/constraints. All the side-stepping the Heartslabyul boys do when their issues are even slightly mentioned in conversation? Heartslabyul Mob is not having it. You can't bullshit him. He cares, and he's willing to sacrifice his relationship with you if it means you'll be for real. The kind of friend we all desperately need, but may not always want/appreciate at the time.
Savanaclaw Mob is a plant nerd who starts out jealous and resentful of Leona who's loved and wanted by the people around him. He's usually really calm and soft-spoken, but his anger runs in the form of a low simmer, until the OB confrontation, where he blows up. When things calm down, post-OB Savanaclaw Mob will have to examine why he actually resents Leona, which is mainly trust issues...(honestly, the way Leona toyed with Ruggie's faith still haunts me every now and then). The dorm's blind faith put too much pressure on Leona (more pariah than person) but Savanaclaw Mob made it clear how much he dislikes Leona yet he still defends him so that's how you know it's the real deal. Isn't really the badmouthing type, but will unflinchingly discuss Leona's faults -> but if Leona gets his act together, he would be his staunchest supporter, he's honestly kind of prime minister coded. Kind of like an anguished/conflicted admirer who resents the fact that Leona's stubbornly struggling alone when there's still so much he can do. He's so obsessed with the title of king that he can't even see that he's already a king in everything but name...
Scarabia Mob who's so chill every bit of chaos slides off her back like water. Drops hints that make Jamil spiral thinking someone's actually caught on, and then makes him even more conflicted by snagging Kamil by the collar every now and then like a tiger herding cubs. Thinking in my head of like: Jamil screaming at her in his OB form; she's just an outsider; why is she even doing this; and then she just smiles and says because you're my favorite. (This is the dude that is always doing small things for you that you think might have a crush on you but is then revealed to have been in love with you for the past fifteen years after you met once in middle school.)
And of course my favorite Ignihyde Mob who I've named Nekomimi-senpai because she's literally a catgirl. Every goddamn anime stereotype of a sleepy cat girl with no boundaries and no shame. Will take random naps in Idia's room, steal his clothes, and then fuck off to go fight Phantoms in the night without indication that anything happened in the morning. I wanted a character who can step into that zone of closeness first because it'll bring out Idia's real face, which has been deeply shaped by the trauma of losing Ortho. I feel like he's the kind of guy who, if you carve out a space in his life, he will do anything to make sure that space does not become (another) hole. He would have monitors. Tracking chips. Security camera footage from campus tracking Ignihyde Mob's movements. But he would also adamantly not confront her about it. Just do a bunch of stuff in the background. (If she's his stray cat, then he's the owner whose job is not to ask the cat what it's been doing outside all day, but just welcome it home without question). They'll have the closest outward relationship first, but obviously, it's a ship that's doomed to sink unless it gets some maintenance...but that prob won't happen til post-OP :D
Tl;dr, what to do when you and the six other top leaderboard players of a niche RPG one day wake up as side characters in your favorite in-game dorms, except the protagonist is missing, your oshis are literally right in front of you, and there are weird-ass monsters everywhere?
(idk i just wanted analog horror, yandere romance, dorm obsession, and hinky dinky protagonist plot stuff all in one fic)
Anyway, is this...interesting to people? Like, idk whether people vibe with my brainrot. I'm still gonna write it either way, but I just wanna test waters here...I've been obsessing over it for weeks now so I really just want some feedback T-T

twst au
Would there be any way for anyone to find out what "yuu" had done ? Like if they asked the dark mirror to show them the truth or another artifact brought back memories from previes attempts ?
Hi!!! omg ur my first ask T-T
yes! this is actually tied to the rest of the au which i hadn’t written out, but basically since yuu’s UM revolves around him essentially giving up traces of his existence in exchange for altering reality, it should be assumed that he won’t get those memories back. But time is...y’know. timey-wimey. wobbly. all that good stuff. and yuu’s UM is centered around a “wish” and wishes are...well, imperfect. the epitome of human selfishness, i think--something whose consequences are extremely hard to predict.
my idea is kind of like a typical game of tag between the time traveler and the powerful figures of the present timeline who are trying to figure out wtf is going on. on crowley’s end, it’s the frequency of the OBs, yuu’s strange appearance/the Dark Mirror’s comments that are pushing him to investigate on his side. I imagine that Malleus and Lilia can also sense that something is strange with their funky Fae magic; however, Malleus is inherently arrogant because of his powers and he’s not in a rush to investigate or anything since he doesn’t actually think whatever is going with yuu is something he can’t deal with. on the other hand, lilia has more experience so i could see him probing more around yuu and catching onto crowley’s thoughts---but i personally don’t think lilia places much actual importance on anyone other than the diasomnia squad, no matter how friendly he acts, and he isn’t the habit of trusting other people with important things, so at the beginning he’ll definitely only probe around crowley and crowley will do the same while they both approach the matter using their own methods.
So it’ll kind of be like: yuu running around to stop the OBs, getting foresight through his dreams and sometimes unconsciously acting in ways or thinking in ways that are the product of experience from his regressions (such as understanding character’s personalities, likes, or dislikes at an unnatural rate). meanwhile, crowley will be putting pressure on him and investigating in a very crowley-manner, putting on a show while secretly observing yuu and making inquiries elsewhere. lilia might have a more hands-on approach that gets more serious as yuu gets closer to the diasomnia squad. finally, other students will also begin to have suspicions.
I do have an idea for the truth being discovered by everyone...in my heart, the ideal endgame is always yuu getting saved by the people he saved no matter what twst au i’m writing lol. the mechanics of that have a lot to do with the origin of Blot and the “truth” which was overwritten by the founders/villains. In the first place, how did yuu, an ordinary human, gain such a powerful UM? And why is it that so many people OBd in the first place? but i’ll spare you from having to dredge through all that lol.
To sum it up, yes--my ideal is that everyone, including yuu himself, will find out the “truth”. This will likely happen through the Dark Mirror, since yuu can’t recover those memories himself. I think it might be cool to have them “view” snatches of those lost timelines in a manner similar to autoplay, but much more chaotic--just as like, a shoutout to the game. idia would def make a reference lol
but this will come about as a culmination of everyone’s investigations. i imagine there will be a final clash between crowley who, to be clear, likes yuu but doesn’t trust their admittedly extremely suspicious circumstances and the students who love yuu and are investigating in a more positive/perspective manner. but at the end of it, yuu will finally understand the mysterious things that have been plaguing them--such as unexplained trauma or an eerie sort of weariness that he randomly feels. in the end, this whole thing started because i wanted the characters to feel the weight of yuu’s love, faith, and friendship--the kind of heaviness that comes from true, unimaginable sacrifice.
it’s definitely something a bunch of high schoolers would’ve never faced or come to terms with before, so i think it’s very interesting to include that. anyway, this will ensure that yuu is set for life lol -- i imagine in the distant future his powerful friends will find his family for him, but his family members will have forgotten about him because of his UM. same with his old friends. so guess everyone will just have to take responsibility and take care of yuu for the rest of his life :PPP (can u tell that i like making everyone yuu’s collective family/guardian/friend for life)
i have so much more i want to write about this au, but i’ll save it for another day hehe. fleshing out an au is easy but writing it is so damn hard sob T-T sorry for writing so much i couldn’t resist the temptation ;-; this turned out super long LMAO

TWST fic idea
I need this out of my head.
Okay so we all probably know the time travel theory in TWST...but I just got a crazy fic idea and I need to write it out b/c i know i'm never gonna have the motive to write it LOL
Okay basically: what if yuu was never a foreigner to this world.
Like, im thinking of a scenario where yuu was originally a student at NRC and was just ur normal, faceless background character. as a result, he saw everyone OB and sort of heard about/was exposed to all their tragedies in the aftermath. mood in school is depressed as powerful figures are turning up dead left and right...their friends and family are devastated...it's just not a good time.
in my head yuu admired the dorm heads and OB-ers from afar, like they knew azul as that crazy talented capitalist dude, riddle was obvious Mr. Perfect in terms of his grades, leona's literal royalty, blah blah blah...
then malleus OBs, but NOT in dream form b/c he has no friends and doesn't want to "preserve" happiness, more like angry hoard dragon mode. and yuu sees that everything is going to get destroyed and awakens his UM.
"Wish Upon a Star"...
he makes a 'wish' to turn back time and go back and prevent this from happening...not just the destruction of the school, but the mental breakdown of all of these amazing people who should never have reached this point.
in my head, this is powerful magic, so every time yuu makes a 'wish' he has to sacrifice something about himself...
maybe the first time he sacrifice his first memory of magic. it sends him back a day before malleus's overblot. he tries to find a way to save malleus, but realizes that everyone is scared of the prince of fae, no one wants to get close to diasomnia, and even the faculty won't get involved.
so the next time, he sacrifices something bigger. all three years of his memory of middle school. after all, who needs those embarrassing preteen memories, right?
now he lands smack in the midlde of the aftermath of vil's OB. he rushes over to ignilhyde, but idia is so isolated in his own dorm that no one even knew that he was "gone" when his OB happened. by the time yuu goes, idia's already missing.
and yuu realizes. he can't just stop one OB and call it a day. the root problem is much, much deeper. the social pressure of the OBs...the faculty's indifference to students...and the student's own attitudes towards each other..,they're all deeply intertwined in the net that is NRC.
yuu is keenly aware that he's Just a Guy. being a background character is kind of his defining characteristic--kinda like how trey thinks about himself (even tho it's SO not true lmao). so yuu goes to the only person he thinks can and will help the students at NRC.
(no it's not crowley)
(obviously)
it's the dark mirror.
so the dark mirror is kind of like. this ancient (maybe eldritch?) artifact thing...thinking of who its original master was, its safe to say that its one of, if not the most, op things in the school.
anyone, they team up. the dark mirror's power is related to "truth". it is an artifact created to the absolute truth of the world, which is why its not affected by yuu's "wish"--it can see the entire truth of the world's timeline, including the effects of yuu's UM.
the dark mirror agrees to help yuu by giving him some of its power. they make a magical contract--basically, dark mirror will lend yuu some of its power so that he doesn't forget his mission even after sacrificing his memories, and in exchange yuu will not be allowed to change his 'wish' until he succeeds. (dark mirror's ultimate goal here is to make sure NRC is still standing by the end of this lol)
(this is also where those "dreams" will come from---in this verse, the plots in disney were actually canon, its just that the "ending" continued after the story in our world and gave more power to the villain here. later, the villains got rid of the original history and changed it to their liking. the "dreams" are just the residual power of the dark mirror which stimulates yuu according to their contract by preemptively sort of "warning" him about the next upcoming OB.)
so yuu sacrifices. he goes back: three weeks, three months, six months, nine months--and then he does it again, and again, and again. He forgets the faces of his family, his friends, even the common sense and history of this world.
and in doing so, he dies, over and over--and watches others die, over and over. and suddenly it's no longer about just preventing the destruction of NRC -- and likely the world, considering the OB's powers and positions -- but about saving THEM. Not the authoritative, far-off figures he admired...but just...them.
the guy with mommy issues who'll write personal study guides for his students just to see them pass. the guy who hides his poisonous thoughts behind a smile but still won't turn away a person in need. the greedy mf with self-esteem issues ten miles long who treats his business like his goddamn baby. the prince with the crappy attitude whose inferiority complex is so infuriating it makes even pacifists want to throw hands.
the iron-willed celebrity whose exacting standards brutalize even himself. the grieving shut-in who's trapped in his past. the gargoyle-loving dragon prince who's never had a real friend.
and more. and more. and more.
yuu cuts himself into pieces for them. he takes away everything that made him, "him" -- until even his true name is lost to the world's memory, and all that's left is "yuu". he bleeds for them, laughs with them, cries with them--and sacrifices, and sacrifices, and sacrifices.
until...
until all that's left is a vague memory of the world...a vague memory of "himself". until he's back, to the day of the entrance ceremony.
until the day of the very last "wish", where "he" finally sacrifices the only thing "he" has left -- his very...soul.
on that day he stands in front of the dark mirror, in front of the only being in the world privy to the "truth", and it declares--
"the nature of your soul is...
...
...
...unclear to me."
i have more but this is enough to scratch the itch for now so i'll just leave this here for my future self...

types of fic writers #2
bullet points: the only thing you write is bullet point fic. or short fic. it’s good writing, it’s just never as long as you want it to be. you envy those who can write 50k epics at the drop of a hat. and they, in turn, envy you.
WIP Central: you last completed a fic in 2009. your folders are full of nameless fics crying out for attention. you cannot open them without a surge of guilt. in spite of this, you open another document, and begin another fic.
word counter broke: this one, you tell yourself, will be a measly 2k. it is not. you watch in creeping horror as the counter climbs first to 5k, then to 11k. you still have six major plot points left to go. the fic is expected to clock at 23k but knowing you, will reach 50k. you have a sequel planned. there is no end in sight.
error 404: I’m writing, you tell people, and you are. you post snippets on your blog. yet your ao3 fic counter is a firm zero. you never post anything. you crave validation. your finger hovers over the new work button. you close the tab.
