ASUS Zenfone 6z Geekbench Score pops up + Leaked Display
Tumblr media
A flurry of smartphones have been leaking left and right ever since Snapdragon 855 was announced and today’s leak is all about Asus Zenfone 6z.
Asus had decent success with their Zenfone 5 and 5Z due to great cameras (both feature IMX363 with OIS) and low price. Naturally, a successor (Zenfone 6z) was in the cards with Snapdragon 855 and today, it was spotted in the Geekbench database. Before we get to the score, let’s take a look at the weird type of punch hole display leak of Zenfone 6z. While some people might find this more appealing than having it in the center (waterdrop) or on the sides (Samsung S10) I still think that anywhere you put it, it just doesn’t feel/look right. On the other hand, the Geekbench score of Asus Zenfone 6z is very promising, due to the high multi-core score (over 11,000).
Tumblr media
Something tells me we will definitely see a Sony IMX586 with OIS on the 6z and possibly without on the more budget Zenfone 6. I expect the Zenfone 6 to carry Snapdragon 675 and sell for around $300 while the 6z would be around $600 (OnePlus 7 price territory). Another suspected major change from 5z to 6z would be the display type, as I don’t think ASUS will offer IPS LCD’s for their flagship this year, while the Zenfone 6 will still go for IPS LCD due to cost concerns.

Meizu 16s real image + Antutu Score revealed + Samsung S10e Geekbench comparison
Tumblr media
Fresh from last week’s leak on Meizu 16s/16s Plus Geekbench score, today we not only have the Antutu Benchmark score of Meizu 16s, but the real phone exposure + a Samsung S10e alongside it to compare Geekbench scores!
Tumblr media
Obviously, Meizu 16s uses a newer revision of Snapdragon 855 or updated firmware, and perhaps different clocks/voltages applied. To note that, this is a pre-production sample, so final scores can even be better. Scores aside, I am much more curious on the cutout parts of the 16s (right side) and the specific chosen S10e to compare. The obvious reason is probably Meizu 16s has a punch-hole display or something similar (pop-up front cameras aren’t really Meizu’s thing). Another thought, that comes to mind is that the top and bottom bezels are very, very small, making this a much more beautiful device, than having cut-outs like notches and 1-2 holes in the display.

Meizu 16s with Snapdragon 855 spotted in Geekbench
Tumblr media
My most anticipated phone for the next few months is Meizu 16s. As a very satisfied owner and daily-driver user of the Meizu 16th Plus (Chinese Version) I, look forward to the Snapdragon 855 powered 16s.  There has been a number of leaks lately (actual images plus cases) revealing the 16s to have no headphone jack (don’t care, use BT earbuds), almost no borders/bezels, AMOLED panel, NFC and a larger battery (3600 for the 16s and close to 4000 for the 16s Plus).
Tumblr media
Today, in Geekbench, users spotted a “alps m1971″ phone with Snapdragon 855 and 6GB RAM which is almost certainly Meizu 16s or 16s Plus. The device has the highest single-core performance I’ve seen from SD855 so far, clocking in at 3778 points! Multi-core score is just above 10,000 and is average for the platform. I for one, definitely care more about Single-Core scores as long as the multi-core is above 7000 and Meizu 16s looks like a real winner. For those who don’t know, Single-Core scores are important for loading times and starting apps, so we can expect Meizu 16s to be one of the fastest devices in that sector, if not the fastest.

Heartbreaker - Redmi Note 7 Pro won’t be Global
Tumblr media
As much as every Xiaomi fan wanted this, turns out Redmi Note 7 Pro won’t be going global. The reason for this is to do with costs and Redmi Note 7 with Snapdragon 675 and Sony IMX586 48MP Camera will remain China and India exclusive.
Xiaomi can’t produce it cheap enough to ship overseas, which leads me to believe that they might be selling it at a loss or literally break even.
For the rest of us, it’s either Redmi Note 7 (SD660, Samsung GM1), get Meizu Note 9 (which I think is better than the Redmi Note 7 Pro anyway) or wait for component costs to go down (most likely SD675 and IMX586 costs which are in huge demand) and Xiaomi change their minds.

Meizu X8 - Better than Redmi Note 7? ( Snapdragon 710, Fast Charging, Thinnest Bezels, Great Cameras )
Meizu has been doing some great phones recently like the Note 8, 16X and 16th series, but their best phone in terms of value, cameras, performance and design is definitely the X8. Meizu X8 has the thinnest bezels, fast charging out of the box, Snapdragon 710 and UBS-C and this is the Global version with Band 20 support! Meizu X8 is priced around $220, which is slightly cheaper than the Redmi Note 7. In fact, Meizu X8 is better than Redmi Note 7 because it offers a faster chip and fast charging out of the box! Don't miss my full Meizu X8 video review with detailed X8 design, cameras, battery life and gaming analysis!
