Happends alot. I'm reading a good fic and then boom! Jaune is a asshole to certain person because the story needs it. It happend with D'Arc house that had a really interesting idea of Jaune been royalty but wanting to be huntsmen, he end in a team with Weiss, Blake and Pyrrha. When the whole Blake plot happend it trasnform i to a "Weiss is the worst and she desseverds to be bully by his majesty prince Jaune for raising her voice to Blake". I have also see the opposite that they made Weiss hate Jaune or Ruby to the point of telling them to commit self harming/self ending there lives.

I once read this RWBY fanfic that I was super on board with because it had an interesting premise

Until Jaune showed up, and they made him the most entitled misogynistic asshole ever

He said something about wanting "own" Weiss and beat the rebelliousness out of her or something (I think. I'm not sure if I'm remembering it correctly, but it was something similar, at least)

I'm pretty flexible with how much a character can be OOC in a fanfic, but when something like that happens, I can't stand it

I get the same feeling when I read older RWBY fics, and Yang is written to be a giant party girl or 'teasing' Ruby so much that she's just bullying her little sister for no reason

I understand teasing and stuff like that, but I've read fanfics where Yang is either a terrible sister or neglectful

People really forget that Team JNPR and Team RWBY ARE sister teams. They all care for eachother in there own way (yes even Weiss cared for Jaune and so him as a friend after the dance)

There's something to be said about Jaune Arc, the single individual with the least amount of training in Beacon at any given time in the first three Volumes, looking at Vale being on fire and, even before Beacon gives the all hands deployed order, going "no fuck the village mission, we're going to Vale" without a second of doubt and his team following without any objection. JNPR being the first team on the field in the Breach is something I very rarely see RWBY fanwork actually keep in mind (the biggest one that I can recall was an Adam-centric fic in which Jaune was basically declared Commander-in-Chief of All Forces Vale purely on accident).

Yes. This is because I watched that episode again and then remembered that coeur al aran basically never mentions this in any of his (many) Beacon-centric, Jaune-centric fics. Even in the ones Jaune does anything in the Breach, it's because he's nearby due to something unrelated.

Weiss: Honestly, she would have hated the idea. But, back then Jaune wasn't the only one in his worst versition, I was also as equal or worst that Jaune back then. I still judged people by what I saw in the outside and treaded Blake badly even if she was more than willing to leave her past behind and be a bettter person. I saw Jaune as one of those Atlas suitors thinking that he was only after my money and my name like my father did with my mother. I should have known that he didn't know anything about in the moment he was so clueless about who Pyrrha was. But then I'm gratefull that I could see that he really cared ablut me and not my name, and now we are happily living togher.

Writing for Cardin in fics only has 3 results (and a 4 one that is better not be adressed):

1. He is a huge jerk and asshole that is later beaten up or killed off to never appear again in the dtory

2. He is literrally writen off the story for x or y reason.

3. He is given a redemption arc that makes him a better person

and theres the 4th option but that is a region that only few writers like to go there.

I normally use the 2, but I like a lot the 3 even more after seeing Thubderbolts/New Avengers, mostly because I want to write Cardin redemption to be close to MCU charecterization of John Waker/US Agent.
