this might be a controversial opinion (and before you pull out your pitchforks and torches, x files fans - please sit down and take a breather, okay? thank you). but i think msr being canon (or whatever the hell it is) low key ruined scully’s character.

it’s not even the ship’s fault, necessarily, it’s the writers who were in charge of writing the script who fucked up, but it just angers me how scully was once this strong, powerful woman and then changed into this fearful woman who is reduced to nothing more than being a mother and a lonesome lover who became a shell of who she once was.

it just makes me mad that you have this female character who has this long, interesting history and lore, and all she’s made to be in the later seasons of the show (and revival) is her male counterpart’s wife who is obsessed with being a mother.

and this isn’t me saying that scully (and other strong female characters) can’t fall in love and have families, because that’s not true - they totally SHOULD, and it’s fine if they do! good on them!

it just irritates me that the x files writers (and the fandom, low key) only make scully out to be mulder’s wife and baby mama.

my favorite episode of the x files will always be the one where they got brad dourif (the voice of chucky) to play a hannibal lecter-esque character that makes scully (who was heavily influenced by clarice starling) be in a silence of the lambs type scenario

people who say dana scully can’t be queer piss me off so bad like dana katherine scully’s main influence was jodie foster’s gay ass and her equally as gay performance of clarice starling in the silence of the lambs. being gay is literally engrained into dana’s dna!

i’ve been seeing a lot about supernatural recently (and it’s making me want to actually commit to watching the show in full) and it made me remember the crossover with scooby doo, and how much i wish they crossed over with the x files instead
