not even gonna tag this properly bc i don't wanna get Involved but i do have some Thoughts i need to get out into the void so here we go
(aaa quick edit: CW for mention/discussion of Boothill leaks)
#today's gone Badly and i'm upset but instead of venting abt it i'm gonna channel that energy into doing a bit of tag rambling abt Boothill#well. less abt Him and more abt uh. self-analyzing my anxiety surrounding contributing to fandoms. he's just today's catalyst#like. i know it's mostly a me thing. i'm hypersensitive to criticism and very conflict avoidant + socially anxious + perfectionistic etc.#so I'm the one that keeps myself from posting more stuff out of fear of being criticized or called-out for what i've made#bc inevitably Someone's gonna see it and think its OOC or a problematic take or they'll misread my intent. etc etc what have you#but like. that's inevitable. there's no way to communicate every single thing with all of the nuance required to avoid misunderstandings#and other times it's not a misunderstanding it's just a difference of opinions and that's Fine!! there's no accounting for personal taste#there's no accounting for several things actually. taste‚ bias‚ lore-knowledge‚ differing levels of chronic-online-ness‚ etc#so this isn't me complaining abt the state of fandom culture (although i do think. sometimes. ppl take shit a bit too seriously)#but anyways all of this is mostly just anxiety-fueled. it's not like i very often actually even receive negative feedback or anything#if anything ppl tend to tell me that i'm overthinking it and killing my own fun and worried that my stuff is more OOC than it is#which like. yeah. Yeah u right :) but that's just the way that i am! always losing the idgaf war i suppose#anyways what's Boothill got to do w this ur wondering. well. i've been thinking abt the quickly emerging concept that he's illiterate.#and it just. has me feeling a lot of ways. and watching ppl disagree over it has me feeling some Bad ways. bc it's def a loaded topic!#if you'll pardon the pun there. and i don't rlly have anything new to add other than that i'm conflicted abt it.#like yeah i saw the leaks days ago. of him mentioning 'not hitting the books' much as a child when we ask him why he sends voice messages#or voice Transcriptions ig. ykwim. and like. *braces for impact* ...i liked it? like. it doesn't feel right to call it endearing#i'm not trying to infantilize him. ok that's not the right word either but ugh. you know? what i mean?? who am i kidding even i don't know#it's not quite right to say that it feels like Representation either. but it's something close i guess#as a southern person myself who didn't receive a 'complete' education due to factors that weren't to do with my intelligence#the concept of seeing him as a capable force to be reckoned with and respected who also happens to have not received much formal education#i like that. i do. but there's so many issues w it at the same time. like. as i said‚ being southern myself has me Wary of the way Hoyo is-#writing him. as well as of the way that the fandom is taking the bits of his lore and running away w them. and i'm Very aware of how ppl-#will see a southern character and be All Too Eager to agree that they're lacking intelligence based on our Redneck™ stereotype#sigh. and before we even go too far with this. it's not even confirmed that hes completely illiterate. which is a valid criticism i've seen#there's Multiple reasons that could make him prefer voice to text. but regardless. i'm just worried that ppl will misconstrue my intentions#like. example: that edit i made the other day of him saying 'no thanks i can't read'. wasn't me playing into the stereotype of-#'haha dumb country boy can't read!' it was. in my eyes. something he'd say as a joke to make light of a potential insecurity#like. i think there's far more depth to Boothill's character if ppl could look past the surface. and i dont wanna contribute to the problem#but sometimes ppl Will have stereotypical traits and i wish the same could apply to characters as long as it's done Thoughtfully.

Okay I kinda get being dissapointed at how they rushed the Sov sibling reconcilliation with just one conversation after drawing it out for months but y'all...this really isn't the end-all-be-all of Crow's character arc, nor is it necessarily out of line for him. His biggest weakness is that he's a bleeding heart who lets people walk all over him- remember how he decided not to get revenge on Spider despite Spider very literally keeping him as a slave? Or how he killed a psion because he was too empathetic to a hive guardian? As much as I love him, and as much as his love is a terrifying force when weilded correctly, he's soft and weak. He always has been. He was bound to forgive Mara eventually, esp. since they have a psychic twin bond going on.
I think y'all are also forgetting the fact that Mara has had quite a bit of character development over the past year or so and has very notably been more open about her emotions and better about keeping herself out of Crow's life- because she got bitchslapped by the reality of what she'd done to him in Season of the Lost and then got shaken to the core by her confrontation with the Witness in Witch Queen. She hasn't been 'defanged', she realized that the way she was acting qualified her to be a Disciple (aka the worst of the worst, the enemy she'd been hellbent on fighting this whole time) and that in tandem with Crow's rejection upset her deeply enough for her to change her behavior, which hasn't been as apparent until now. Idk how y'all can forgive how Uldren Sov slaughtered hundreds of Awoken citizens and wreaked havoc on the Reef but is changed as Crow without also acknowledging the fact that Mara herself changed as well. It's not as dramatic of a difference because it happened more gradually and without intervention from a Taken Ahamkara and the Traveller, but its still there and is the most apparent its ever been right now. It wouldn't surprise me if the reason why Crow is forgiving her now- apart from the fact that he's a softie and discounting potential Riven bullshit- is because she's proven she's changed by both keeping her distance and being more emotionally open with him, as well as open about how she knows she fucked up. That's the second thing Uldren wanted other than her approval, after all.
Also, it's been like, 2 years of Crow being pissed at Mara and avoiding her, so them starting to make up now is kinda necessary even if it feels a bit rushed. I personally would have loved to see more snark and nettling from Crow's end, bc I love conflict and sibling angst, but it really isn't out of character nor is it throwing away Crow's character arc. It would have if Mara hadn't changed, but she has. And while I myself love storylines where victims don't need to forgive their abusers and can exert their wrath upon them as they wish, the fact of the matter is that how such a situation needs to be dealt with varies immensely on a person-to-person basis, which the writing team has already proven they're capable of understanding. Just look at Calus's and Caiatl's relationship! That ended with no reconcilliation because Calus simply refused to change, while Mara has spent the past year trying to get Crow to feel comfortable with her as an equal in conversations and open up to him more and trying to break her habit of watching him like a hawk- aka, acting like an actual sister rather than the pseudo-mother figure she'd picked up from Osanna. Ofc Crow the softie is going to respond to that, esp. since he's got a psychic connection to her via Awoken Twin Magic and seems to have been walking Uldren's memories as of late. He just genuinely is really fucking bad at holding a grudge.
(And while its easy to go 'oh the writing is lazy and rushed', I also think its kinda sus that Riven specifically talks about the human wish to reconnect with family right after the Sov sibling talk happens. It wouldn't surprise me if she picked up on Mara's desire to reconnect with her brother and pushed Crow towards forgiving her. It seems like she's been trying to pull Uldren's memories to the forefront everytime she talks with him and that could be a big factor as to why he's been reflecting on them a lot recently)

Tbh, its not the fact that smg4 didnt become a villain angers me in this mini arc. In fact im happy he wasn't. The most thing that bugs me so much is this whole entire mini arc felt rushed and forced, It made me confused, it was messy in lots of places. I dont mind if Smg4 would do the same mistake bc nobody learns from their mistake immediately, but right now i feel like they forgot what mr puzzles put them through. Like the relationship between meggy and puzzles, can meggy really forgive someone who put her through hell in WS? Who enjoyed watching her dying over and over again? Thats the main thing that bugs me, ofc im not hating the show, i still love it, its just this whole entire thing after puzzlevision just seems messy
Hope in the future things will be better and explains more, i have high hopes, but right now i just feel like this whole thing is a disaster right now, like i have so many questions and this arc just made more
Hi I get where you're coming from I promise, but without trying to sound like mean, you had high hopes for the silly weekly meme show that doesn't take itself too seriously, I really don't know what else to say to that.
Maybe I'm waaay too easy, I am happy to just watch a bunch of characters that I like do silly things together and sometimes have a story too them, as long as it's funny and makes me laugh I really don't care about whatever takes place. Yes I love it when they are serious and they tell really good stories/arcs and I love that, but I don't take anything too seriously because the creators don't either, not in a bad way but in a fun and silly way. It's hard for me now to get upset over SMG4, I learnt what getting overhyped for SMG4 does and I'm not making that mistake again lol. At its core, it's a show made for fun, it's not trying to achieve any major story or plot, it's there to have fun and THAT'S what I love about it and why I can over look a lot of things to it.
Don't get me wrong I love taking this shit seriously sometimes for the sake of theorys and analysis and things like that, but when you're taking it more seriously than the creators, of course you're gonna stumble and fall and get confused and angry. I didn't wanna turn my whole response into a "lol don't take it so seriously" ramble but, I legit have nothing else to say because I STILL don't get it!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I WISH I COULD UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE ARE SO MAD OVER THIS ARC BUT I CAN'T!!!!! Whatever, I can't, lalalaaaa
Also I think Meggy can "forgive" Mr Puzzles or at least be at peace with what he did because she's seen that he is capable of caring for people, and you know Meggy just sees the good in people anyway, so yes she can because Meggy is cool, thaaaats my take lol :3

My prediction hope & dream for JJK 266
So far I've been correct on Yuuji's domain being one of non-violence, (although the details I have gathered have yet to be revealed unless this is enough evidence).
and that
Yuuji's talk-no jutsu would be ineffective, but he might be capable of a listen-no-jutsu.
Sukuna can't relate - it probably feels like Yuuji is just rambling about his childhood, showing off how peaceful and carefree it was. Yuuji enjoyed shoveling snow (interesting how much snow came up, since this is important to my theory on Yuuji's domain. I guess it is still December 24th, isn't it? That's crazy. It's been at least 30 chapters by now).
Anyway, they're still in Yuuji's domain. I really, really hope that we get to see Sukuna's childhood next chapter. No one is aware of Sukuna's past, of why he became the monster (I believe it's a desperate grasp for his own autonomy).
Idk whether Gege will give us redemption but I still believe it could bring Choso, Gojo, etc. back.
Yuuji admit to not understanding his own domain, and I think it would be rly cool if Sukuna helps him to develop it. Maybe Sukuna could learn the value of life and connection, since Yuuji has this ability to reach people.
The thing with Choso is that he's like ash, but we don't know the size of Yuuji's domain - Sukuna's lacks a barrier, so I half expect Yuuji to be capable of that as well. Either way, I think his domain could cover the area where Choso's remains were scattered. He and Sukuna have this insane RCT ability, and domains get a can't-miss effect.
I really wanted to see Sukuna vs. the merger, maybe teamed up with the other sorcerers, but at this point I think that between Sukuna's destruction and Yuuji's reconciliation, they might be two halves of a whole that can redeem Japan from the chaos Kenjaku has caused with his merger.
Idk the details these are just thoughts I've gathered since yesterday.
Also we got to see baby Yuuji, show me baby Sukuna 😤 and how he met Uraume and also give me details on Tengen, I want confirmed lore so help me Gege.
If this upset you, then pls:
Listen I love Yuuji, and Megumi, almost everyone tbh (Mei and Mahito and Haruta, idc about u at all) but I also have Strong thoughts & feelings (especially) about Sukuna and I take his pain more personally. I know what I say is often unconventional and polarizing. I'm not saying this is canon, I'm saying that I have a hyperfixation and need to release these thoughts on my own blog. I don't want to start fights, I just like to see different interpretations and share my own. Frankly Yuuji was my first favorite character and I could never hate him. I just spend less time breaking down his perspective lately bc everyone else got that covered.

I hadn't seen your blog since ages!!! And I really do love your takes because they are so different from others (and sometimes me too)
I did make a post about that Bunny wasn't sad about the farmer dying. It is how I interpreted it from the book. I do think Bunny was gonna eventually tell the police about it. I just don't necessarily think it was because he felt bad for the farmer's death. It was HIS friends who killed the farmer and that's what made him feel so guilty and go down the spiral.
If he was in the bacchanal with them and they had all accidentally killed the farmer, Bunny's not the type of person to turn himself in. He WOULD have done the same. He would have tried to save himself. He wouldn't have minded then if the farmer had died because he himself was involved in it
Even if this a hypothetical situation as you said, we don't know how Bunny will react to it.
It is clear he is more human than all the others and more capable of feeling remorse and empathy. But that doesn't mean in a situation where he is going to jail, he won't try to cover it up.
He will definitely feel more guilty than all the others did
They just went "oh well, what can we do"
Bunny would have eventually spilled the beans because of the humanity in him. Maybe to his gf or friends or anyone. Like he told Richard.
Bunny is STILL NOT morally superior in my eyes just because he wasn't directly involved in murder. It is because he wasn't involved that it makes it so much more grey.
We don't know a lot about Bunny in general.
What if he was involved in the death? Wouldn't he be in the same plane as them?
In this case they wouldn't kill Bunny, and they all would be in the same situation. Henry didn't kill Bunny cuz he was a sociopath.
They seem worse than him because they killed him but if they didn't, we won't consider them worse.
He would have done the same as they did but with more guilt and remorse.
To me it seemed like Bunny wasn't upset the farmer died but he was upset that his friends killed him, lied to him and hid their crime, that made him feel an intense amount of guilt on behalf of them.
That's all I want to say.
(I don't agree with all your opinions on TSH but I don't mean to hate on it 😭😭😭😭. I saw the post of you calling me out and felt I needed to explain myself. Again, I just wanted to give my opinions on Bunny, I know he is more hated than the rest and it's BAD. It's just we see so little of Bunny being good that you can't blame people for not liking him. My opinions of him have softened each time I re-read the book and he definitely didn't deserve to die as some people say)
Sorry for the long ask lol, I just had a lot of emotions 🤧🤧🤧
Im so sorry for the late reply really ive been suuuper drained and ive been waiting until i get my energy back to reply but days have passed and im still mentally and physically worn out and i just feel rude at this point😭 i really wish i could give a longggg reply bc i love yapping about tsh but theres a stopper in my brain that prevents the thoughts from flowing so ill leave this post here where i talk in length about this topic and why i dont think bunny could have ever been involved in the murder.
Anddd i dont blame people for not liking bunny!!! I think thats a very valid opinion. I dont think hes a good person but i love his character
And tysm for what u said abt my blog! I loveeee hearing opinions that differ from mine so pls feel free to debate me on my takes i find it really enjoyable <3 my interpretation of the book is after all just an interpretation and i love hearing how other people come to different conclusions based on the same text
And wdym by the post i called u out on? Im kinda confused on that bc i dont remember having called anyone out on my blog 😭 but sorry if u somehow felt attacked by one of my posts, it def wasnt my intention

why kyle is actually the one gaslighting cartman, NOT the other way around (FROM THE VAULT [2021])
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kyle gaslighted Cartman for YEARS into making Cartman look like the crazy one just for Cartman calling Kyle out on his shit bc Kyle just couldn’t fucking handle any criticism LMAOOOO. I mean yes, Cartman isn’t perfect he has his flaws, and yeah Cartman shouldn’t have been stereotyping Kyle and shit for being a Jew but all Kyle did was just make Cartman worse and act even more crazy for constantly trying to make him look like the bad one. We saw in this episode here how Cartman does have a heart and he’s capable of redeeming himself and Kyle is STILL acting like a little bitch so that says A LOT. I saw people on Tumblr like “everyone’s gaslighting Kyle 😪” like no bitch can you not see how much Kyle gaslighted Cartman???? I hate how whenever Cartman would get on Kyle’s ass about something and accuse Kyle of shit throughout the show, everyone just took Kyle’s side and thought Cartman was being a bully to Kyle. It’s not Cartman’s fault Kyle’s a little pussy and can’t take a joke jesus fuck. Like yeah, the Jew jokes were irrational, but a lot of the time Cartman was just making valid points about Kyle and calling him out on his shitty behavior just like Kyle had been doing to Cartman. It really shows how fucked up and manipulative Kyle is that he got away with always framing himself as the innocent victim and Cartman as the bad one just bc he couldn’t fucking take any insults or criticism LMAOO. I remember in the early seasons Cartman would get really upset at Kyle for him making fun of him for being fat, but in the later seasons Kyle still would call Cartman fat and fatass all the time and Cartman wouldn’t even care or say anything anymore, and he even admitted he was fat in the episode “Raising the Bar”. But Kyle still always gets offended whenever Cartman makes fun of him for being a Jew (which he hardly does anymore). Cartman’s been trying and trying for years to stand up to Kyle and defend himself bc Kyle’s been bullying Cartman and shit but whenever Cartman speaks up for himself he just gets framed as the bad guy and Kyle is the innocent angel saving the day. Kyle just projected all of his bullshit and all of his flaws onto Cartman for years and Cartman had to carry the weight around of that with him and that made Cartman act even more crazy and evil. And I think it always did annoy Cartman how Stan always believed Kyle and agreed with Kyle no matter what. Which was why in this episode Cartman told Stan he doesn’t stand up to Kyle enough but that also reminded me of this moment in the episode “Rehash” where Cartman is like “Stan is such a douchebag he agrees with Kyle no matter what”. Cartman was always a huge dick to Stan & Kyle bc they were huge dicks to him, and neither of them ever had his back and defended him. They were always bullies to Cartman about him not having a dad and him being fat and stuff like that which Cartman had every right to be upset about. And this is def a big reason why Cartman likes to hang out with characters like Kenny and Butters a lot. I mean it’s also bc he can take advantage of them and shit but also Butters is like the only kid that’s actually been nice to Cartman LMAOOO. After watching that episode tho it’s definitely making me second guess Kyman. Like honestly Kyle doesn’t even deserve to have Cartman in his life anymore after the way he treated him, I hope Cartman can get some peace and happiness away from that douchebag HDJDJSJSK. I really thought that after Cartman redeemed himself with the pangolin shit Kyle would grow the fuck up too once he saw that Cartman had matured but it really sucked that Kyle just seems to be getting worse and worse.

I am grateful for your Mash Metas, your BJ ones for sure. They are much more closer to what I think of him, and I was starting to think I was not understanding his character properly because I think he's mean to others, especially Hawkeye.
But I think it makes him more interesting. Hawkeye's best friend who doesn't like him, but wants to be liked by him. He loves Hawkeye, but he does not like him. Do you think this would eventually bother Hawkeye? After the war when he thinks about it? Or would he never notice it?
Thank you, I'm glad you've been enjoying my takes! And thanks for your interest in my opinions!
Ohhhh man I love how you put that, doesn't like him but wants to be liked by him, loves him but doesn't like him, it's so good. Now that's the kind of interesting dynamic I'd read 1000 fics about.
This got long lol so it's under a cut
To be perfectly fair I think I probably go a step beyond what the writers intended wrt the flaws in BJ and his friendship with Hawkeye. I think we have clear demonstrations of resentment, taking his negative feelings out on Hawkeye, passive aggression, tearing Hawkeye down to build himself up, etc, but I think we're meant to take most of it in good comedic fun, and sympathize with BJ even when the show's painting him as genuinely cruel, because he's sad and misses his family etc. This behaviour isn't really meant to significantly darken the vibe of their friendship, probably.
But yk, to me it does lol, I don't think the writing/acting threaded the needle successfully. Maybe it would've worked for me if I saw more chemistry between Hawk and BJ, idk. But yeah the way you describe them is def the impression I get, and that's the headcanony angle I'm gonna discuss them from here. Basically BJ and Hawkeye's friendship being uneven bc Hawkeye genuinely likes BJ while BJ usually likes being around Hawkeye and does love him in a way, but dislikes/resents a lot of things about him, and shows it in cruel ways.
So to actually answer your question... idk lol. I mean I can see a few possibilities. Like I feel like it does bother Hawkeye in canon a little, but not enough to cause an actual rift. Like, reasserting himself once after one of BJ's intense prank schemes by mildly revenge-pranking BJ fixes things for him. When they argue, they eventually just agree to stop arguing without resolving anything because they're stuck together and they need each other. In Wheelers and Dealers he's alternately exasperated with BJ and soothingly placating, and it's Margaret who has to come in and yell some sense into him. In Heroes Hawkeye goes out of his way to try to make BJ feel better after several jealous digs BJ makes at his expense, by trying to get some limelight on him. He's vocally upset about the punch in Period of Adjustment but he's ready to be a shoulder to lean on as soon as BJ apologizes. In Picture This he drops the petty fight instantly when he's led to believe that BJ needs his support. He often gets upset with BJ, but never truly puts his foot down and always capitulates.
So yeah I get the vibe that Hawkeye knows that their friendship is uneven and he gives a lot more than he gets, and that BJ resents him in a lot of ways and lashes out because of it. Plus in addition to how he responds to a lot of BJ's bullshit, he also just generally is pretty emotionally intelligent and tends to understand people imo.
And I don't think Hawkeye puts up with it because he lacks self esteem and doesn't think he deserves better, I think it's because a) he's empathetic and sympathizes with BJ and the war's effect on him and b) he doesn't have much of a choice but to put up with the negative side of their friendship, because he relies on that friendship too much. Plus I think while he has a mostly realistic view of himself, he does see himself as a little more more resilient and capable than other people, and therefore willing to put up with more. Like to an extent I almost see him tolerating BJ's lashing out as indulging him? Like, 'okay get it out of your system, I can handle it.' I don't have concrete reasoning for this lol, but it's mainly his behaviour in episodes like Dr Pierce Mr Hyde or Dreams where he doesn't sleep because he's the best surgeon and he's needed, even while sending others off for breaks, combined with always being a shoulder for BJ to lean on no matter how shitty he's been (eg Period of Adjustment, GFA), and like, the end of Fallen Idol lol where he basically says 'whatever pedestalize me i guess, i can take it.' And the way he never gives as good as he gets in the prank episodes, which narratively is because the show likes it when Hawk is a victim, but lbr it makes sense if it's partly bc he knows BJ can dish it out but can't take it.
So I feel like post-war Hawkeye would be aware of BJ's weird contradictory feelings about him, because I like to think he's aware during the war, but he wouldn't really resent it? He'd probably still have fond memories of the friendship and he'd see it as kinda messed up but so was everything else while he was drafted and it was better than most aspects of living in a war zone. He knows they were stuck together and probably wouldn't have been friends outside the war, and they made the best of it. And if BJ kind of sucked at holding his end up, well, the war was hard on him and Hawkeye sympathizes. I don't think he'd ever really frame it like, "Hey wait, I was the one who had a breakdown actually, so why was I BJ's emotional support and punching bag combined?" I think he's just automatically very tuned into other people's pain - not to the extent of ignoring his own, but in a way that's like, he'd rather help someone else than wallow in his own misery.
But if he saw BJ again post-war for any length of time and BJ fell back into those old patterns, I don't think he'd put up with it now. If BJ was like, going through a messy divorce or something he'd be sympathetic and probably give BJ some leeway, but he doesn't need him now, yk? He'd walk away if he needed to, imo. I don't imagine him giving a whole cathartic speech to BJ about toxic friendships exactly lol, but I think he'd say something about how they're not in Korea anymore and BJ needs to deal with his shit constructively or they can go their separate ways.
Note that my post-war take on Hawkeye is that he's happy, largely mentally healthy, and has a big network of friends. If he's miserable and isolated and borderline suicidal like in a lot of fanon maybe then they could fall right back into weird toxic vibes and Hawkeye would be like 'w/e this might as well happen.' But honestly I don't really vibe with that version of Hawkeye. Considering how many friends he made while falling apart in a warzone I think there's about a hundred percent chance he has a good support network of people when he's back home.

Cross-posting a bit of meta I wrote over on reddit, bc I think tumblr will like it. (Original thread)
---------------
I've gotta defend my boi Armstrong. I can't read the writers' or the localizers' minds, so I don't know exactly what the intentions for this character was. What I do know is the comments I've seen on reddit, on tumblr, in the youtube comment sections, and from the youtubers playing the game themselves. The frequently repeated opinions are that Jean Armstrong is an uncomfortable character, that he's nothing more than a stack of numerous homophobic and transphobic stereotypes, that he aged like milk.
However, I am several flavours of queer myself, and I absolutely love Jean Armstrong. He's fun, he's campy, he's complicated. Just about every "bad stereotype" about him doesn't ring as such to me, but rather as a surprisingly accurate depiction of an effeminate queer man.
Tons of cis gay men refer to themselves and other queer men with terms like "girl", "girlfriend", "sister", "queen", etc. Tons of queer men lean in to their more typically feminine traits. I believe the interpretation by the localization team was that he is a cis gay man with a non-passing drag persona, though my personal favourite interpretation is that Armstrong is either genderfluid or bigender and genuinely identifies as both male and female.
I don't think I've seen this particular complaint, but I could see it being made, that his overly flirtatious personality is too much, and perhaps leans into the idea of queer men being promiscuous or predatory, but again, there are plenty of flirtatious characters in this series, and his personality doesn't go so far as to feel creepy.
I have also seen a handful of other queer fans complaining about him being a pickpocket, largely because they're upset that one of the few canonically and overtly queer characters has such a negative character trait. However, I think it's stupid to act like queer characters aren't capable of doing bad things, and when you compare is stealing small objects off of customers to the murders and smuggling and such that run rampant throughout this series, it really isn't that big of a deal. Not to mention his unfortunate falling in with Tigre is both understandable (needing money to open up the restaurant of his dreams) and sympathetic (being unable to pay back his loans because his food wasn't selling well).
I don't know, I just think people are too harsh to Armstrong. Maybe he was intended to be an offensive stereotype and the butt of the joke when the game was made, I don't know for sure, but even if that's the case, I kind of feel like they accidentally predicted the future of queerness, given that the case takes place in early 2019.

i feel like some ppl are lowk salty ur writing a bad character as BAD. like rafe is an AWFUL person 😭 is he hot? absolutely! but being hot doesn’t me let’s ignore the fact that he’s a pos… he’s the blueprint for controlling, manipulative bfs. Like i honestly don’t even think he’s fully capable of like love love.
he might say it sure, but i feel like he views his partners as more of an asset, or something he has ownership over, like ig maybe pet is a better way to describe it. I’ve seen some ppl in the past makw posts about how they don’t like how ppl write rafe as a dark character but that’s what he is! especially w like stepcest or incest content. Do we see how he is w sarah? rafe is a horrible person down to his core and it irks me when ppl ignore that just bc he’s hot! you can like him ofc, i like him, but i think it’s weird when ppl get upset when fic writers characterize him closer to his canon character than fanon one
okay rant over!! (btw this was about no one in particular just thoughts)
- sunflower anon
nah ur real like i literally can never read soft rafe ever bc it just feels so antithetical to why rafes even interesting? like making him soft gets rid of all the elements that make me like him and i always say rafes like the bottom of my list ksdvndjskvnds but hes the most fun to write because of how terrible he is and i just dont understand why ppl dont just wanna admit it idk. soft rafe is whatever i dont like it so i actively chose not to read it (see how that works) but so much of soft rafe is just popes traits projected onto rafe. just write pope instead.

So there are so many problems within the harry potter books that I don’t ever want to give J.K. Rowling any writing creds BUT. I will say the woman gave us the only real glasses representation basically ever. Like in almost no other major series, especially for kids, is there any character, much less a main character, wearing glasses. And the fact that in HP it’s presented in a very neutral light, not negative or positive, just it being there, is really insane. And like you also get standard glasses issues that come with them. Like when he’s playing quidditch in the rain and can’t see, it mentions them getting fogged up, he occasionally loses them, etc. And almost every time it mentions him getting up or out of bed it mentions him putting on his glasses. And Harry isn’t a nerd character, there’s never a magical solution to his eye problems, and there’s never a moment where they’re taken off and we suddenly see he was good looking all along. Like his glasses are just part of him but don’t define him. And I will say that as a kid I didn’t realize how important this was to me. I was so upset when I had to get glasses bc you never saw a pretty, heroic, strong, capable character wearing them. And if they did, the glasses held them back until their “real beauty” was unlocked. Like in the princess diaries where she can’t be a princess until she gets rid of her glasses. But once I read HP I never felt that way again. I felt normal, and I liked having something that made me more like Harry. So it might sound stupid but I really wish there were more characters with glasses out there, especially in genres like fantasy, sci-fi, dystopian, etc. And I wish it was treated more normally. If you’re a writer, let your characters have glasses!

Part 2 of comparing my EO ocs to my Mage Prophecies ocs
Tank and Tankei
Tumblr media
The similarities in their names is purely a coincidence. Also Tankei is pronounced T-awn -KAY vs Tank just being said Tank. Plus... is Tank reaally his name? 🤨
Tankei was such a big supporting chara she could be elevated to main status. Subplots in most arcs focused on some aspect of her. And she was the fan fav.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She was an asshole, my favorite asshole whose reckless actions get the main girls in and out of trouble.
She needed to be watched bc when alone she was always misbehaving-- she hates authority, and she REALLY HATES injustice/unfairness.
Tankei melded so well with Mio bc she was the more real version of her. One that knew not everyone could be her friend bc she learned the hard way. And the reason why she is so harsh to Mio is because she never wants ANYONE to be like her. To be taken advantage of.
She has one of the absolute most DRAMATIC backstories ever. And it's one that shapes the plot.
If anyone has a more dramatic back story than Tankei it's probably Tank BAHAHAHA.
He is also a drunk asshole who has the be watched bc he misbehaves (thank you for watching Enid.....). But unlike Tankei. He's super... meticulous about what he does 🤨
His back story also leads a few subplots I have in mind. Actually maybe like 3. He was supposed to just be a side chara but the more I characterized him? He's actually so much more intelligent than Tankei when it comes to people. (I think). And his arc is sweet too. Yeah that guy is an asshole but I personally think he says so to trick people.
If they met: also at a bar. (They both use alcohol to turn off their brains).
They would beat the shit out of someone who was rude at the bar and vaguely remember each other afterwards.
He'd call her "chick" tho. Different than how he calls Alope and Hana kids... he'd definitely view her as more adult than those too bc he knows that she has seen very much.
Tank when Tankei calls him old man (he is tasting his own medicine)
Tumblr media
Enid and Kai + Kiemi
Tumblr media
Okay so Enid... Enid is one of my only EO ocs that embodies a few ocs rather than just 1. I have like 4 ocs that remind me of him. But narrowed it down to 2... the other 2 are more closely related to other EO ocs anyway.
Anyway Kai is another OC's son. Lady Micah's son!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't have comics of them interacting but it's. Oddly in character. Lady is the leader of a like police force, the specialized knights of the nation, the Royal Guardians. Kai is the highest ranking RG member. He is so ridiculously talented, powerful and awesome. But none of this stuff means anything to him bc his self esteem is soooooOoooo LOW.
Yeah. He can control gravity in a certain location. Yes he's a skilled swordsman. But what if hes faking that? ☹ he feels like an impostor...
He has all these achievements, but since he's so... insecure people dont know and view him as some average guy. Most don't even know he's rank 1. Which reinforces his inferiority complex.
Enid... Well when I rewrote chapter 1 I wanted to make it more obvious they were similar.
Tumblr media
Like. You see Enid but not really?? Like. WHOA. That's a person. But... then you look at something else. They are the most vibrant in the room but surpress most of their personality. So people just view her as some guy.
Can't get into all Enid's problems bc Enid is a rare character who's backstory isn't super important. Maybe like 2 notes of it are. But other than that, all Enid is in the main story.
If they met: I think Enid would see Kai having a bad time and give him a pep-talk. Only to find out bro is basically capable of killing demigods and get SUPER PISSED OFF.
It's okay Enid. Post game, you can kill demigods too.
The other MP character is Kiemi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also one of the Royal Guardians. One who dedicated her whole life to the king. She represses her emotions like Enid too. Acting regal when shes really really upset that she's spent her life this way. Kiemi masks it and usually just tries to make sure no one feels like her. Giving confidence to everyone else and supporting them. (Including Kai)
She reminds me of young Enid. Before Enid became a monk they were unhappy in the same way Kiemi was.
If they met: ENID WOULD NOTICE HOW MESSED UP KIEMI'S QI IS. Kiemi's energy is so out of whack. They are repressing so much more than Enid.
They would talk and be good friends. Also if Enid ever lost confidence Kiemi would gas him up SO HARD.
Also! Kiemi and Kai are the main two who baby sit Tankei. So Enidcore. You know with Joe they babysit Tank. (Though... who is rlly being babysat between those two????)
That's it for this one!
I'll do more charas once I actually introduce them. :3!

I think there are multiple amalgam orm characters that could work to try to combine elements between continuities.... all of this is a work in progress and me thinkin
Options so far:
Mostly earth one faithful: orm is a kid of Thomas currys second wife, he develops inferiority complex after arthur gets more attention or seems more special or whatever (Depending on how jerky you want to make Tom, he can intentionally ignore Orm as he does in Aquaman vol 2). This would combine continuities if there's no Atlanna meeting tom and we have raised by dolphins arthur.
True combo: orm is half atlantean half human, as in David's run. Orm is somehow found and raised in atlantis (you could even use some Tula in here if you want to actually do something with her being Orm's sister in New 52 continuity - they could both be orphans raised in the palace), where he develops inferiority complex as he is treated as inferior due to xenophobic atlanteans, probably sheltered a lot due to his status but he can still hear what atlaneans think. Can work with keeping orms more noble post new 52 writing, where he wants to protect all atlanteans and does not buy into superstition. He's jealous of arthur bc arthur has a different intro to atlantis than him as a celebrity stuntperson (ok however you frame silver age arthur and atlantis' relationship XD). Arthur might upset his plans, or (see potential drama in below paragraph). But it also might have unfortunate implications in the whole 'you've been discriminated against so now you're a supervillain' thing. NTT did this with Komand'r and it was pretty ableist.
mostly new 52 orm: pretty much keep the new 52 story, but you don't re-write the pre-new 52 other atlanteans story. meaning you'd keep geoff john's full atlanean origin, he's king when arthur gets to atlantis as the overly-helpful-celebrity-stuntsperson, shenanigans ensue that he winds up not being king, blah blah. He could be jealous that Arthur is capable of solving the threat he was incapable of solving, or feel that ARthur does not understand Atlantis and does not want what is best for it, or view arthur as a threat.

I am sending this ask because I need something to distract me while I am out of internet so feel free to ignore, or delete this. So hi! It's the person who mentioned the smallidarity life series partners thing and I am being pushy by just saying it now LOL
I think if they teamed up for a series, it would start with them finding each other and Jimmy wanting to team. Joel would light heartedly half joke about how he'll do it but only to show he's clearly the Superior player in the series bc he will be the first to MAKE SURE Jimmy doesn't die first as his partner.
They'd build a base together and Jimmy would be dragged into conflict after conflict because Joel likes to cause problems but Joel will come running to help him if HE causes problems too even if he's "late" (he was there as soon as Jimmy called) and complains about needing to save Jimmy from himself afterwards.
They are both loyal, but I think Jimmy is more loyal in the sense that I don't think he'd be capable of betraying Joel or hurting him in a way that matters while I can imagine Joel choosing to betray Jimmy but ONLY if it will garuntee him a win or at the very least something as valuable as a life when he needs it. [Joel is attached though. No matter what, he'd be so very attached despite his best efforts not to be.]
Jimmy dies first. I know Joel was the reason for at least one of Jimmy's deaths. Whether he lost his final life because of himself or because of Joel doesn't matter. Joel will be upset either way, and he will kill whoever caused Jimmy's death directly. And if he did it to himself, then he will kill whoever took any of Jimmy's other lives as revenge. He'd be a lone wolf for the rest of the series and while he may make an alliance of obligation with other reds or other non reds, he will never be loyal or attached to them like he was Jimmy.
Every episode he does without Jimmy will be spent making jokes about him while also simultaneously missing him and admitting to it on the very rare occassions. I don't think Joel would win but if he did, it'd be bittersweet I think. He won, he's happy, he kills himself to join his little buddy in the afterlife.
OH PLEAAASEEE. my internet was. SO BAD when I got your ask and I prommy I tried to answer it SUPER enthusiastically but it got eaten. twice. because of the bad data and then I forgot to answer it when I had better connection cause Im so scatterbrained. AND THEN I got back from vacation and got swamped with work and couldnt finish replying but seriously I could nawt want anything more. Life Series Smallidarity is my evvvveeeerything they mean. SO SO SO fucking much to me. you and your thoughts are ALWAYS ALWAAYYYYYSS so so so fucking welcome here in my inbox. PLEASE.... I adore them
ALLLLLL OF THIS IS SO GOOD AND SOOO REAL. you know them Perfectly. this all feels so so real. I need this more than anythiiing next season. I really do. I just MMMMNNGNMMMNG. you got them so perfect Im gonna SOB. I think they would meet eachother First again too. Like Joel is the first player Jimmy sees all season, and yup. they do their whole spiel where Jimmy asks something of Joel but this time Joel accepts it— its only to prove hes so much better than everyone else, than Scott and Tango and the whole goddamn Southlands because hes the fucking best and hell keep Jimmy by his side and alive when they couldnt.
They really would cause. soooo many problems. Joel is. Always so annoying (endearing) and so fighty and shitty and when Jimmy gets a little touch of confidence and ego hes SUCH a shithead too. theyd talk their way into a lot of problems theyd have to fight (or cowardly scurry) their way out of.
dunno if this is as realistic/in character but thinking abt Joel being the first red name again, or an early one. through either his own overconfident idiocy or. even. semi on purpose so he can be a violent mess. but they ignore the red rules and him and Jimmy stay allied. maybe Joel claims he keeps attacking Jimmy and trying to chase him off, but its not working. Jimmys too stupid (read; too loyal) to keep his distance. just the vibes of that 3rd Life era red x yellow/green allyship combined with Joels insane longevity and threat level as a red name in Last Life.
anon. anon I am speaking directly into your ear you have no idea how insane Joel post Jimmy death makes me. Joel expressing his loss and mourning through vengeance even if its (at least partially) his fault OOOOOOOHHHH. OOOOH OH. you get HIM and you get ME. the joking about him in his absence intercut with genuine care and missing him. when he does that it drives me CRAZY it would be even more batshittttt if they were direct allies
HE WON... HES HAPPY... HE KILLS HIMSELF TO JOIN HIS LITTLE BUDDY IN THE AFTERLIFE.... ANON YOU BROKE MY FUCKING HEARTTTTT. I think a Jimmy first dead and a Joel win while theyre allied would be INSANITY it would be PEAK thematic yumminess. especially with Joel being responsible for taking one of Jimmys lives. oooooh you have to sacrifice what means the most to you to win. this is a cruel fucking game and only loss and sacrifice and loneliness wins it for you.
anon you have made me do something drastic. help.
Tumblr media
HELP
Tumblr media
(I have started a traffic smallidarity PMV)
anyway silliness aside youve really got to the heart of why they would be suuuch a powerful and heart wrenching team and why I love traffic smallidarity so much. all of this is so real and canon feeling because so much of it has. happened before. even with them being only loose allies and there being. so little content technically. theres just so much potential there and if they were teamed it would be amped up even more and absolutely destroy me. anon I have been rotating everything you said and the traffic smallidarity possibilities in general in my head since I got this, youve really made my week (SORRY FOR TAKING SO LONG I HATE BEING BUSY,,,,) and you really have such an excellent read on themmm, this is why traffic smallidarity is still my fav and what got me crazy abt them. augh. me when theres Them.

I haaaaate hate hate hate how people said Hazel's redemption arc made sense and Emerald's didn't?
I'd argue Hazel's does still make sense ofc but it's sooooo telling to me how ppl love his and hates hers.
Esp bc, imo, hers makes MORE sense?? We saw hints of it from volume THREE come on
If you want a short example, here's a screenshot by somebody on Twitter who noticed an annoying trend.
Tumblr media
Here's the link if you're curious. https://twitter.com/spicybinch/status/1582743854477778944 Me personally?
I've noticed THIS particular issue.
Ruby Rose: Tries actively and super hard to always do the right thing and respect people’s choices.
RWBY Critics: OMG She’s so boring, come back when you have a personality.
Ruby Rose, Blake Belladonna, Robyn Hill: Makes human mistakes, proving both are complex character with flaws, capable of evolving.
EruptionFang, Vexed Viewer, their followers: OMG See? She’s not a saint, she was a horrible person all along, idk why people act like she’s a good person, she should burn in hell.
And then we have the straight white guys who are the villains in RWBY. Yes, I'm excluding Hazel for this one because Unlike Roman, Adam, and Ironwood? Hazel takes accountability for his actions, tries to make amends, and shows actual regret...so already we see that like Emerald, he is given more of a chance of redemption than the three.
Roman Torchwick and Adam Taurus : Does awful things willingly, consistently and without reason, and may make jokes about hurting people in general.
EruptionFang and The RWBY Rewrite folks: OMG he’s so funny and hot. I love bad boys/villains/bad people. They MUST be morally grey, cause they're so cool, they must have a tragic backstory justifying their actions.
James Ironwood: Has a pathetic excuse for his actions, blames it on other people, never takes accountability, and does a teeny tiny good thing (Think of it as nepotism) and throws outbursts when he doesn’t get his way.
Fandom on all 3 men: OMG, he is so sad, my poor baby, he deserves so much better, my heart is breaking for him. He is a complex character  with so many layers and he owns their horrible disgusting actions. But his actions are not his own fault. He has trauma. OMG so hot.
I mean they also scream character assassination when it comes to male antagonists, but let me ask you this.
You notice how these critics look at a robotic acting nanny for Penny Polendina by the name of Ciel Soleil, who only had 60 seconds of screentime, and whine about wasted potential?
Several things to keep in mind. 1, these people only call v1-3 "peak animation" because they put Monty on a pedestal, and because they were obsessed with yang's chest size. That's it.
2. These people are not used to women characters having more complexity than a male character. They were fed a diet of media that treated female characters badly in one way or another.
3. Last but not least. ANYTHING Miles and Kerry do, or ANYTHING a RWBY fan does, people will hold under a microscope. Yet insulting the show and the fandom gets people put on a pedestal.
The next time you see somebody get mad at female characters in RWBY getting some form of redemption? Check their comment or post history and see if maybe they have some weird issue towards women...or LGBT.
You ever noticed how these critics who claim to be fine with LGBT shipping or at least wlw shipping get so upset and uncomfortable at the mere thought of mlm shipping?

Hi, this is not an ask, I just want to praise your writing (and maybe rant a little if you don't mind) but I feel like this message of mine is not appropiate to be left in the comments. So I'll left it here, do to it as you will!
I've truly fallen in love, with your Prince!Alhaitham series! I've already read all the drabbles you made and I'm so fascinated with all the stories, especially how you made and write the main couple's dynamics different with each roles of the MC/Reader.
I'm regretting my choice in the poll a bit though, my most favorite after reading all drabbles is the Head Advisor one, and my choice in the poll are the witch with true bloodline just because I know too little about the storylines at first. 😞
Even if I know one changed vote for me isn't going to make a lot of difference in the whole precentages...
As for why I love the Head Advisor one the most, mainly it's as I said, their dynamics. ✨
I've been looking for this kind of dynamics for so long. What caught me at furst is that, different from the other routes, you started the drabble with the Reader already obsessed with Alhaitham but still holding herself back to not cross too many boundaries and still respect his personal space, somewhat.
I frequently read the trope where the ML is cursed/have an unfortunate ability of attracting too much unwanted attention/just don't want the attention, and I get the reason why the MC is made to be an exception to that curse/attraction so the story will progress. But that kind of trope gets repetitive and then becomes boring from time to time.
Also, its not like the Head Advisor is just so obsessed with Prince Alhaitham to the point of neglecting/not paying attention to everything around her. I love it more that you showed a new side, the caring side, of the "King Snake"-villainess, as Cyno put it, around the General. MC/Reader being worried about Cyno's wellbeing is just... 🥰
Oh! And the MC/Reader's cute, a little oblivious side, despite being potrayed as a capable and intelligent person/witch, is just simply endearing and so adorable, and that aspect just added more to her charm. 😍
As for Alhaitham, you potrayed him so well too. Still calculating as ever and his self-control while being affected by aphrodisiacs... ❤️
Maybe this is just my delusion, but the outright kind of evil/manipulative (and hot in this case) implication behind his intention in asking the MC/Reader about the effects of someone else aphrosidiacs on her 😳
And, there can be insinuated a possible scenario of a jealous prince seeing the interaction of his Head Advisor with the General, though this is probably just me being delusional(again).
Though I'm a bit sad that the Head Advisor route isn't going to be adapted into a fic, I'm already pretty satisfied after reading "Deserving" (supposedly the general ending of the main storyline right?).
Thank you so much for making this masterpiece. 🙏

THIS ASK HAS BEEN IN MY INBOX FOR DAYS BC IVE BEEN HOARDING LIKE A DRAGON AND OMg.....
Thank you for reading my au! You've put so much thought into this review and I love hearing the parts you love! The little nuances, like reader being both this King snake of the court, and yet a person with a crush on the prince but doesn't want to upset boundaries. Asking if Cyno is alright. Or the insinuation of Al haitham asking about other aphrodisiacs 👀👀👀
(Put under a cut bc I started talking about the future of this au and this got long)
I really, really loved this ask! Tbh, when I first started my Prince!AlHaitham drabble, it was just a simple brainrot that got so much traction, I felt I had to keep going. I thought about how could I write my own version of Al haitham, as a prince, and still have him in character.
What would his dynamic be with the reader? Well, that depends on who they are. Which I put a poll about and multiple ideas sprouted in my head. Also, the Head Advisor!reader was also my favorite to write out of all of them, but maybe that's bc of the drama of the scene I wrote out 😅😅😅.
The reason I have a 'canon' storyline is because I have an actual story I want to tell, and though that takes time and editing and planning, I'm excited to be working on it and sharing it with you all! There's this whole au universe I've made up, characters to implement, plotlines (like what is up with alhaitham's curse, hm?) And so much more. Genshin has me in a choke hold so there will be plenty more in the future of this blog.
And do not fret beloved. While I dont want to overwhelm myself, I'm really digging the idea of having different routes for the different reader. Like the general story, but affected and influenced by the different readers ive written about. But that'll be in the future possibly, for now I can stick with drabbles and brainrots 😅😔.
Thank you for the oh so lovely ask! Even reading it days later has me giddy and smiling! Pls stay along for the Prince!Al Haitham au journey!!!

I know it’s been said that Lestat is violent, is capable of monstrosities, and yet one of his redeeming qualities has always been that his love for Louis has always felt constant and protective. Yeah I know they’re often toxic and verbally abusive but you can work around that in fiction, and most dark tempestuous couples in fiction are. But you never really get the sense that they are actually in danger from them (Louis being an accomplice≠Lestat going Mortal Kombat jfc) since it’s one of the pros of being ‘beloved’ lol. So for the writers to go there with Lestat and Louis it just shatters the foundation that real love is even there and it’s just not fun at all. Especially when they have Lestat next episode saying “she’s poisoned you against me” as if he truly doesn’t understand the magnitude and horror of nearly destroying the one he loves. I mean, in the books Louis is an accomplice to his ‘murder’ and it haunts him, we feel his anguish. And even though Lestat and Claudia end up as adversaries this episode leaves us with the bitter realization Lestat never loved Claudia at all, when the truth is Lestat LOVES her he loves his little family and would have never done anything like this since even he would be smart enough to know that’s a certainty on losing them for good. Sorry just when I think ‘I’ve cooled off I’m like ‘and another thing!’ lol
Yup yup yup. I don't want Lestat within a 10 mile radius of Louis after that and it does kind of affect my perception of their romance in previous episodes. I have already talked plenty about how Lestat would never do what he did in the books.
And the thing is if they are going with grey morality with Louis if he feels bad for killing Lestat or gets back together I can never see it as grey morality, I will only ever see him as a victim who has been cornered or made to feel bad. Basically Louis or Claudia are now no longer morally grey in killing Lestat but justified which I feel like is a massive disservice to the complexity of their characters.
I feel like with Claudia they were afraid audiences wouldn't sympathize with her so they put jer through WAY more sexual trauma, made Lestat obviously not love her (which honestly upsets me so much bc their family means so much to me), and now gave her the trauma of wittnessing what happened to Louis. I think if Claudia slit Lestat's neck JUST for making her she would always be a little bit justified, she was turned against her will, not as dramatic or rape implied as Lestat but still always a betrayal and Lestat calls turning Claudia and Louis a betrayal he can understand them hating him for. And then there are Claudia's issues with her body. Like if you look at the VC fandom pre show I don't think there was anyone or at least many who hated Claudia or didn't think she was justified. So yeah they blew it up and made it worse
