So, in 2 other posts I read that 1. you don't think you're capable of love (debatable) and 2. if you had a partner you would want them to have pretty high libido, which brings me to my question.

Imagine you find out that you ARE capable of love, all thanks to this one person who is, however, asexual and sex repulsed. Would you be able to be with them? What would you do?

Part of why KOTXX/the Rishi trio is so fascinating to me in Eight's worldview is that their relationship kinda...sucks

He's incredibly affectionate, close, and trusting with Intelligence and just about everyone else and then he's stuck with Lana and Theron and the affection is nonexistent, but it's not cold or unfriendly, just unfamiliar. Especially since those two (and the occasional third with Koth) are all human, they communicate in drastically different ways and the culture clash makes itself extremely evident the longer they work together.

As an Echani, Eight doesn't understand why Theron gives off 5 million conflicting body and mood signals that doesn't match up with what is coming out of his mouth. He'll see that Theron is insecure, closed off, uncomfortable, angry at something perpetually, fatigued, looking to escape, all while he's talking about something that has nothing to do with any of these emotional states and it baffles Eight completely why he won't say what his body is-- and that's the unfortunate part of being a human with unconscious signals and a very complicated emotional psyche that differs from his.

Eight reacts to this by simply not. He doesn't care for human social intricacies that say a thousand things and don't mean them, and he tends to sense the unintentional minefield it is and not bother with answering in the same way, leading Theron and Lana to be left just as confused as to why he hardly communicates with them in the way they know, just as they are unable to talk to him like Echani.

To him, these humans are also very talkative about everything down to the smallest details, so he thinks he doesn't need to add to all the noise. Theron's very much like the Issun to his Amaterasu (Okami) where he explains and monologues about everything, gets mad when he's not paying attention (even if he is), is rather outspoken about what he wants and takes charge, but is also ineffectual physically and relies on his skills to do all the heavy-lifting. In other words, Theron/Lana are his NPC Questgivers that he has to protect and escort and give deep dives about lore he thinks isn't very important. 'Are you saying Theron's a funny and sometimes annoying bug to him' Maybe. Who said that

Not only that, Theron communicates all the wrong things with his body that Eight will translate it to something horribly off the mark if Theron tries to do the silent body language thing, so it's common for Eight to suddenly take action out of the blue and have Theron panic as to why he's doing something so drastic without warning him. Also, despite having several inches on him (6 foot versus 5'10"), Theron gets thrown around like a ragdoll whenever accompanying Eight because Eight doesn't like wasting time waiting for him to catch up or to tell him to pull off moves he physically can't, so Eight just picks him up and slings him around like a sack of flour. If he needs him up on a cliff he knows Theron can't scale, he'll chuck him. If he's running too slow, he'll carry him.

Theron appreciates none of these things. Loudly.

ruin spoilers / idk personally it feels very out of character to believe the kid that intentionally stayed in the pizzaplex past six a.m. because he wanted to make sure no more bad things happened when he was being hunted down would be the same kid who tells his actual friend sorry, gotta make sacrifices!
