Getting To Know You Tag Game - thank you for the tag, @chroniclesinlacuna and @carriehobbs beloveds
Last Song: Enchanted, orchestral cover by Joseph William Morgan. It’s the unofficial Benophie song for season four of Bridgerton, and the official Nuri song for book four of Wayhaven. It’s so beautiful, it makes me so emotional listening to the song
Favorite Color: Love a nice, soft pink. Some yellows, some purples. Pastel colors, really. And teal
Last Book: Sense and Sensibility. The whole time I was reading, I understood how the historical romance genre came to be. It was funny, it involved gossip, the romance was subtle and excellent, and a good amount of scandal. Wanting to delve further into that? I get it, I get it. Absolutely loved the book, and ranks higher on my Austen list. Otherwise, catching up with everyone’s amazing fics! (Ramadan has my schedule a-kilter so I’ve been trying to read after sundown)
Last Movie: Picture This (starring Simone Ashley). A super fun rom com that was actually so funny. It focused more on Pia and her relationship with herself and her family, plus romance, of course. It was great! Highly recommend watching it!
Last Game: I don’t play video games, though I do enjoy watching people play video games whether in person or online (more recently, fire emblem three houses and a few of the final fantasies). I like the stories. But game, game? I am working through The Ultimate Fun Adult Activity Book
Last Show: The Wheel Of Time!! Suggested by @/nat-seal-well, I am about through with season one. It is incredible! I had some very light information going in, and the show does a good job explaining the lore
Sweet/Spicy/Savory: SWEET! Then savory. Then spicy
Relationship: 💍
Last Internet Search: Looking up the phone number to a restaurant to get in the waiting list - Maghrib time is busy these days at the restaurants! Looking up how to spell ‘amyrlin seat’ to prevent a typo while leaving a comment on @/nat-seal-well’s twc/wot au which is amazing and you should definitely read!
Tagging (no pressure, and apologies if you’ve already been tagged): @serenpedac @wayhavenots @agentark @l-llavellans @nat-seal-well @lalizah @serially-wayhaven @vryptidart @loreofyore @thelionheartedo3 @fauville and YOU!

ALIRHGTY finished season 6!
OMG so this was just THE jay season
ughhdgaanksdka okay heres my htoughts
-I liked that both nya and jay kept their memories of the events. I also like that Jay got to make mistakes and improve from them. Like yeah, it's easy to see him as someone that could fall for nice-guy/incel type mentality, what with the whole 'guide to wooing woman thing'. it calls to mind his 'true-potential' episode, but delving into it a lot further. and it was really neat to see his characters insecurities come to light and watch him react to and learn from his mistakes. I really got the feeling that Jay was afraid of nadakhan. which made his evveuntual defeat more satisfying. I REALLY liked the scene where Nya pushed Jay through the portal. it not only felt like she was getting to take her power back but also Jay talking with his parents was a great scene. very nice story structure wise as well.
-speaking of great storytelling woagh SO many good scenes. one that comes to mind is Zane and Nadakhan's encounter with the chess. litterally fucking brilliant visual storytelling. it's simple but god does it work
-clancy was his name right? the pathetic snake guy? voice actor fucking slayed that role. anyway. dang I hope we somehow see him again.
-nadakhan was almost as good a villain as chen! a lot less of a fun viallin then chen was but that's more like a villain genre differnece. anyway. he clearly had a couple layers we didn't get to see, def has severe daddy issues. like Daddy Issues tm we're talkin. I'm also very curious to know what the truth about Dellora is. like, what with how he acted towards Nya (which my god wow I know he's a bad guy but damn this fuckers like, fucking horrible. disgusting even.) so I thought that he didn't actually care for Dellora at all but then why would he have a locket of her? and when Dellora was like revived(?) throguh Nya and Nadakhan was all like 'i can give you anything you want!' and Dellora said "i jsut want you'- idk, something about the line delivery... I just got the feeling that perhaps much like his daddy issues he may have had relationship issues as well. I think those small things made him more believable, like so he wasn't just this stand in figure for a bad guy. I think the main strength of ninjago villains in general is that there are both litterally powerful and threatening but also tend to be very manipulative, so they present an emotional challenge for the characters as well
-I REALLY loved Jay gathering his 'replacement ninja' allies. I really like rag-tag teams saving the day because the main heroes are unavailable ( haha you guys will never guess my favorite mlp 2 parter [sarcasm] )
-Gosh though. that ending. damn can't believe Nya and Jay just have to like- move on with life now? after being traumatized and shit?! excellant! can't wait to read angsty fanfiction about that later
-ummmm that's all from the top of my head. haha I'm sure theres more thoughts in there but for now
guess its time to face day of the departed then. haha wish me luck guys!

This is about as far as I’ll get.
Im a big fan of Final Fantasy. I grew up with X and IV, I branched out to V and VI, am working through VII, and have XIII downloaded. I did not enjoy XV and I was excited when I heard XVI was good.
And it is! Theres a LOT to love about this game. It plays smart in a number of ways. The soundtrack is phenomenal. The combat system mid game is up to some great stuff. Its the only media I’ve encountered that adopts GOT elements while successfully retaining its identity.
I love how summons are godlike entities that deliver big kaiju fights. They give you a great sense of scale by having the first feel slow and clunky, by making you fight Ifrit on foot, working their way up so when you fight Titan you get an amazing feel for scale.
The game also adopts GOT style intrigue without abandoning what makes FF a FF game. The game opens with a red wedding style sacking of a major house with implications for the rest of the game, but it does it within what a Final Fantasy game would do. And the game has loads of lore tools to help you stay keyed into the plot. Its great. The pacing is also excellent, each chapter ramps up from small town sidequests to giant kaiju battles, then deescalates to give the eikon fights space.
Combat is flashy and fun with lots of combos you can chain across powers. I ended up using a lot of counter abilities and had such a good time in every 1v1 battle. Battles are also showy in satisfying ways despite being a bit spammy.
The OST is also a powerhouse good LORD. Its an alltimer, Heart of Stone and Find the Flame clapping absolute cheeks out here. I cannot recommend the ost highly enough.
Theres a few minor issues I was able to look past. Weapon crafting/upgrading is largely uninteresting. You just upgrade for better number. Theres no real resource management or choices being made. I would rather be awarded weapons like KH2 keyblades. Sidequests smartly delve into the fine details of the world but are largely a waste of space, padding out the runtime and delaying the better parts of the game. But largely these were just tedious, not bad.
My beef with this game is the camera. Its 2024, we’ve had 3D games for 30 years, and there’s a $70 price tag on this game. Absolutely unacceptable that I cannot access meaningful accessibility controls that would alleviate the issue.
I’ve played lots of games in 3D with fast cameras. I’ve played all of Elden Ring, MGRR, Bayonetta, every Halo game, both Wolfenstein games, I’ve only been made motion sick by Generation Zero, Saturnalia. I’m not prone to motion sickness in games, and outside Saturnalia where its cropped up I’ve been able to use accessibility settings to negate it.
Pressing O to block and counter is great but the camera whips around violently for each of the three follow up attacks. I’ve looked through threads and implemented everything I can with what options the game offers and it has not saved the experience for me.
Tumblr media
Man. I was so excited for this one. And I was having a great time with what I played. Im just over 50% through and I’m gonna have to call it here. It made me physically sick over the weekend and I’m still feeling bad.
I beg you 🅱️lease fix the camera. A game on this scale should be better than this. I literally cannot play your game in this state.

I was tagged by @rivetgoth to list 10 songs I like this month. I'm going to try to pick a few other songs I haven't been talking about as much, probably with a couple of repetitive exceptions, lol. Most I've been listening to on my summer playlist, but a few have made it on my not-yet-finalized fall playlist. In no particular order...
"Tall in My Room" by Public Memory: The album this is on just came out at the beginning of the month and it's FANTASTIC! This is probably my favorite song from it, but it's pretty much flawless all the way through. I've been describing it as haunted house trip hop (so like...darkwave/trip hop, but in a very specific way). We're going to see them live later this month. 😁
"The Skin and the Glove" by Drab Majesty: Definitely their best song on the kind of disappointing EP they just put out. They've delved into '90s shoegaze recently, and this is the best example, with some nice psychedelic influences that I don't hear enough in modern goth music.
"Hunger Cries" by High-Functioning Flesh: I honestly thought this song was from the '80s when I first heard it. They really nailed the Remission-era Skinny Puppy sound. I enjoyed the entire album.
"Normalized" by Vision Video: I heard this on the above-tagged dude's blog and enjoyed it! The chorus kind of reminds me of "Vicious Pastimes" by House of Harm but with a more classic goth rock sound. I had avoided checking out this group because I think they're kind of a TikTok thing, so I was pleasantly surprised to realize that they are actually good.
"Model Citizen" by Male Tears: I've been listening to them a fair amount lately, and this has been my favorite. Just a really fun darkwave song. Their song about Skinamarink is good too, but I haven't listened to it as much (yet).
"I Been Young" by George Clanton: Another '90s throwback. He said it was supposed to be a '90s adult contemporary song, lol. It's a fantastic pop song even if you didn't spend your childhood listening to "Come Undone" by Duran Duran on the radio constantly...but I think that helps.
"Vanity" by Nuovo Testamento: I don't like all of their material, but this song is infectious as hell. It's more synthpop and less pop-pop than some of their other songs. Really fun to sing along to. We saw them live with Molchat Doma this past spring and this was my favorite that they played.
"Never Ever" by Body of Light: Another really good album. I can't get enough of this song in particular. The fretless bass and saxophone solo make this a convincing throwback to early-'80s Japan or Gary Numan circa 1981 (very specific!). The vibe is strong here. Also very fun to sing along to.
"The Machineries of Joy" by Die Krupps feat. Nitzer Ebb: 100% my song of the summer. The platonic ideal of EBM. It gets me super pumped, so I've been listening to it at the gym a lot. This is one of many new favorites I heard on this excellent playlist created by a very obscure synthpop duo I like on my friend's record label, haha.
"Rigor Mortis" by A Split-Second: An older Wax Trax favorite that was recently added to Spotify. Yay! I promptly added it to like six different playlists and have been happy not to have to go out of my way to hear it.
Two recent runners-up are "Anywhere" by A Projection and "Always More" by Autokratz -- slightly less memorable but both really fun, synthy, and danceable, albeit in different ways.

hi! i know you have a info page (or whatever it's called) for your characters butt doesnt work on mobile? anyways i wanted ask if you could tell me what ultimate talents they have?
Huh…
Not sure how invested you are with how you phrased your question but I just copy-pasted all the info on this ask.
I’ll put it under read more because otherwise, it will be super long
Basic info:
Heartbreak is a story of 16 former students of Hope’s Peak Academy who have found themselves locked in the bizarre setting of a love hotel. And thus, a new exciting killing game takes place once again!
As the concepts of guilt and justification clash together inside the sickeningly pink walls of the hotel, one starts to wonder who exactly is the morally righteous one?
And to shake things up… a new rule has been added to the monopad.
The cast:
Tumblr media
Aino Inoue
Former Ultimate Mermaid
Age: 20
Class:75-B
Blood type: O
Likes: Long Walks on the Beach, Astrology
Dislikes: Sand
It’s time for opinions! Meaning opinions from this woman! This is Aino Inoue, the ultimate mermaid! Or more precisely a professional underwater mermaid actress. It appears childhood career dreams do come true! She became a very known underwater actress for her infectious charm and her ability to stay underwater for 9 minutes without breathing.
Her attitude towards others is very straightforward but that doesn’t mean she is unfriendly, actually quite the opposite and especially if she is under the liquid courage. What’s personal space? She certainly doesn’t know.
Aino is a very nosy person and loves to give relationship advice to other people, even when these other people really don’t want it. It doesn’t help that quite a lot of these advices come from her obsession with astrology and blood type personality theory.
She can also be seen more often than not with a cocktail in hand to a point her constant state of tipsiness worries some of the others. In Aino’s opinion, it just makes her twice as fun!
Tumblr media
Daisuke Okamoto
Former Ultimate Robot Combat Champion
Birthday: May 25th
Age: 19
Class: 76-B
Blood type: B
Likes: Logic Puzzles, Memes
Dislikes: Raisins in Bread, Academic writing
Here comes the local memester! Daisuke Okamoto is the current robot combat champion. But despite his promising career path in the art of mauling battle robots and much to everyone’s bafflement. After his time in Hope’s Peak, he went to study engineering at his local university. He refuses to tell why he had such a change of heart even when he still regularly competes.
Daisuke is a second-generation immigrant with his mother being American and father being Japanese. Because of this, his sense of humor is influenced a lot by western internet culture. He tends to joke around a lot giving him a carefree attitude. He loves to entertain, although in serious situations his joking nature can come off as insensitive.
But under all the jokes and terribly outdated meme’s, he is very intelligent and a hard realist who wants to know every detail of the rules and isn’t afraid to ask them from Monokuma.
Tumblr media
Gina Higanbana
Former Ultimate Biochemist
Birthday: October 31st
Age: 23
Class: 72-A
Blood type: B
Likes: Poetry, Family
Dislikes: Frankenstein (Story), Sour Plums
Speaking of eccentric mad scientists! Gina Higanbana, the ultimate biochemist is the sort of person who definitely befriended every monster under her bed when she was young. Gina is a boisterous workaholic which has paid off since she is known most for her study of parabiosis. Unfortunately, not all of her fame is from positive feedback, as some of her testing methods have been found very unorthodox…
Gina presents herself as larger than life, after all, she is a woman of science! Though she delves with modern problems, her way of talking is very old fashioned, and even poetic, making her sound like she would fit right into a 19th-century romance novel.
While being a semi loud presence to the group, Gina tends to withdraw to her own space and has trouble talking about subjects outside of her interests. But when it comes to teaching neighbor kids how to turn a volcano eruption experiment into a baking soda canon, she is the right person to tag along.
Tumblr media
Hotaka Muramaru
Former Ultimate Florist
Birthday: January 27th
Age: 22
Class: 73-B
Blood type: A
Likes: Frogs, Bellflowers
Dislikes: Kiwa Fukuda
Hotaka Muramaru, the former ultimate florist… Well, a former florist, really. He isn’t doing too hot in his life at this moment. These days he mainly does gardening work around his area. It is unfortunate as he was known for his striking floral arrangements and attention to small details before his family’s flower shop business went down.
Hotaka as a person is very forgiving by nature. He doesn’t like causing conflicts and it is very hard to get him angry. Despite these positive traits, he seems to be nice for the sake of being nice which makes it hard to get close to him in a way that matters outside of everyday small talk. It seems preserving what little image he has left is more important to him. This has also made him quite the perfectionist.
Tumblr media
Kana Nakano
Former Ultimate Lifeguard
Birthday: May 2nd
Age: 25
Class: 70-A
Blood type: O
Likes: Children, Geocaching
Dislikes: Spontaneous Plans
Kana Nakano, the ultimate lifeguard is very passionate about her job. She is the mom friend of the group you know you can always rely on in any hardships, niche killing games included.  She has become a very popular lifeguard at her local kids’ poolside as she has a knack for talking to children. Though because of this her way of talking can sound very condescending when speaking to other adults. She tends to simplify her words and soften the meaning much to some of the group’s irritation.
As a person, she can also be very stubborn until she meets her goal. If nothing else, she makes a great leader figure with a lot of survival abilities and experience in tough situations.
Tumblr media
Katsurou Furusawa
Former Ultimate Hunter
Birthday: September 5th
Age: 23
Class: 72-A
Blood type: A
Likes: Sewing, Peace and Quiet
Dislikes: Wet Socks, Attention
This timid yet patient boy who looks like he just crawled out of a swamp is Katsurou Furusawa. Though he doesn’t like talking about his talent that much, he is known as the ultimate hunter. He got his title for his exceptional trap making skills and the ability to stay unmoving for hours to no end, blending to his environments seamlessly, and waiting for a pray to trigger his traps.
Personality-wise, Katsurou is bashful and likes to talk to himself rather than others. He has a tendency to be a people pleaser, disregarding his own beliefs and feelings on topics just to appease both sides of the argument. He was never a problem child, as he has always done what his parents told him to. Even accepting the invitation to Hope’s Peak was not his idea.
Katsurou is also a huge daydreamer. He seems to be more comfortable with the world inside his head than the real world, and it shows.
Tumblr media
Kiwa Fukuda
Former Ultimate Scapegoat
Birthday: December 31st
Age: 23
Class: 72-B
Blood type: AB
Likes: Citrus Fruits, Tacky Decorations
Dislikes: Paper Cuts
Though she looks quite sporty, her talent is far from a healthy career. This awkward and accident-prone woman is Kiwa Fukuda, our protagonist. Unfortunately to some, she is known as the ultimate scapegoat, though this information is confidential especially in court. Her line of work is basically taking the fall for a singular person’s or even a whole company’s mistakes. If that’s not deemed realistic, she will direct the fault towards a more suitable candidate. The amount of guilt Kiwa’s work as a scapegoat leaves her with has made her desensitized and apathetic towards others.
Personality-wise, Kiwa is laidback and can come off as an airhead thanks to her apathetic demeanor towards their current situation. She tends to joke about terrible subjects that make people around her a bit uncomfortable to say the least.
Kiwa is also clumsy and tends to get involved in accidents without trying to. Be it an injury, a misunderstanding or a terrible accident, it’s easy to assume she always has something to do with it whether it was her fault or not. Kiwa now wears a bicycle helmet all the time to make sure she won’t get a third fracture on her skull.
Tumblr media
Kohaku Iwatomi
Former Ultimate Gemologist
Birthday: June 4th
Age: 19
Class: 76-B
Blood type: O
Likes: Shiny Things, DIY
Dislikes: Loneliness
This is Kohaku Iwatomi and he is happily ready to talk your ears off! Kohaku is known as the ultimate gemologist, mainly because he changes his specialty in gemology quite often, always wanting to try out something new. He seems to excel in all the areas he has tried out so far through pure dedication and excitement towards his profession. Though, for some reason, he has been working as a gem appraiser in his local pawnshop for longer than his peers thought he would withstand to.
Kohaku is a very cheery young man who loves to mingle no matter the topic. If you know him, you probably know his whole life story. He doesn’t like silence, nor does he bode well if left alone for too long. He isn’t narcissistic though as he is very empathetic and wears his emotions on his sleeve, he just really likes company and he has so much information to share with everyone!
Kohaku also has a liking towards thrift shop clothes and DIY projects hence his striking and pretty mismatched appearance.
Tumblr media
Masami Kiyokane
Former Ultimate Croupier
Birthday: July 17th
Age: 22
Class: 73-A
Blood type: O
Likes: Board Games, Philosophy of Ethics
Dislikes: Alcohol
As if there were not enough party poopers in this group… This is Masami Kiyokane and he is known as the ultimate croupier. He got his title through diligent croupier work at organized events and after coming of age, at established casinos. Masami also has gotten quite good at seeing who is cheating and he knows most card games by heart. He seems fascinated by game rules in general.
Masami’s personality is pretty uptight and passive-aggressive. His way of talking tends to be a colorful use of personification, especially when he is going on a tangent and complaining about something. Though he talks big, very rarely is his bite worse than his bark as he mutters under his breath before admitting he is in the wrong.
Masami has a very strong moral system he believes in. His rather judgmental attitude is unusual for someone who has a hobby of learning about ethical philosophy though and often he gets called a hypocrite for playing favorites. He is not very happy about that.
Tumblr media
Mei Kaneko
Ultimate Phonologist
Birthday: March 21st
Age: 18
Class: 77-A
Blood type: B
Likes: Corvidae, Accents
Dislikes: Wasting Time
This young girl is Mei Kaneko. She is the youngest of the group as she is the only one still studying in Hope’s Peak. She should be set to graduate soon and she is more than excited to continue with her dreams towards a real working life as the ultimate Phonologist!
Personality-wise, Mei is very energetic and will give her all to any task at hand. She is also very loud and a bit of a daredevil. If you tell her to not push the red button, she will definitely push the red button.
Growing up, Mei’s neighborhood had always been surrounded by corvids. As she slowly got more familiar with them, she developed a fascination towards the crows that kept playing in her backyard. Mei had been studying dialects and languages since she was little thanks to her bilingual home and decided, quite abruptly, that her life work from then on would have to deal with establishing communication with corvids.
Tumblr media
Nori Ikari
Former Ultimate Sailor
Birthday: December 8th
Age: 20 (?)
Class: 75-A
Blood type: AB
Likes: Folk Tales, Making Rope Knots
Dislikes: His Knee Brace
This theatrically boisterous man is Nori Ikari, the ultimate sailor. Believe it or not, he is as young as 20 years old, which has led some of the group to believe he is a vampire in disguise. Nori comes from a vast lineage of sailors of different ranks but all just as proud seafarers! Nori got his title as the ultimate sailor after recklessly making a week-long fishing trip alone in a trawler boat made for a crew of 10.
Nori tends to tell long tales of his ancestors which sound just bizarre enough that no one is quite sure if Nori is speaking the truth or not. To be honest, everything he says just sounds downright like a big fish story all the way down to his accent. Is this man real? No one has a good answer to that.
Personality-wise Nori can be pretty intense. He has a habit of making a bigger deal out of very normal things. Nori values honor and traditions and tends to get quite defensive if his integrity is challenged. And if needed, he might challenge you to a sword fight at a parking lot if he deems you need a fair ass kicking.
Tumblr media
Okemia Momose
Former Ultimate Opera Singer
Birthday: March 10th
Age: 24
Class: 71-B
Blood type: A
Likes: Vintage Aesthetic, Home
Dislikes: Hope’s Peak, Luck
This nervous woman is Okemia Momose. It’s been a while since people have heard her sing, but she is still regarded as the ultimate opera singer. She got her title for her incredible range and her ability to hold a note for almost half a minute.
Nowadays though, her fame is shadowed by a traumatic event she went through in one of her performances. She was one of the performers at her local opera house which was run by a Yakuza family. However, there was a very strained turf war going on around the area that one day resulted in a shoot out at the opera house. Unfortunately to Okemia, she got caught in the crossfire and a bullet hit her temple. Though she survived, she got inflicted irredeemable damage to her brain which developed into a stutter.
Despite her towering over everyone with her height of a 6’5 feet, she is not very confident in herself. Okemia is a very high-strung person who tends to think the worst possible thing will definitely happen to her. Though she is nervous she has a lot of resentful opinions that are made from wise words
Tumblr media
Shion Arai
Former Ultimate Figure Skater
Birthday: July 23rd
Age: 21
Class:  74-B
Blood type: B
Likes: Rhinestones, Straightforwardness
Dislikes: Cleaning, Bootlickers, Mornings
This person here is Shion Arai the ultimate figure skater! Under all the glitter, rhinestones, and an eccentric personality lies a somewhat kind-hearted individual who is willing to cooperate… as long as it doesn’t inconvenience them.
Shion got their title thanks to their impeccable ability to adapt and improve fast. They have won multiple competitions in their teen years despite starting the sport at age 12, which is considered quite late. After graduating Hope’s peak, Shion’s placement in the podiums has started to steadily drop. If asked about the slow decline of their career, Shion just shrugs nonchalantly, leaving it at that.
Shion identifies as nonbinary and they are very prideful towards their identity and their achievements. Despite this, they are also incredibly lazy and rarely bothers to do something they don’t want to. Their goal is to go where the bar is the lowest and if that’s not possible, they WILL complain.
Tumblr media
Suzu Nagahashi
Former Ultimate Ballerina
Birthday: November 1st
Age: 21
Class: 74-A
Blood type: A
Likes: Rainy Days, Leather Jackets
Dislikes: Dancing
This cold and assertive young lady is Suzu Nagahashi, the ultimate ballerina and she is not here to get herself killed over some dumb motive. Suzu has been known for her skills all her life. Rumor has it her mother, a former ballerina, started teaching Suzu how to dance the moment she was able to take her first step. Absolutely no one was surprised when she got her invitation to Hope’s Peak, though she rarely showed up to school thanks to her harsh performance schedule.
Suzu is very stoic and she picks her words carefully. Though her tone of voice is very serious, her pink frilly dress makes her attempts to be taken seriously harder for her. Luckily Suzu is stubborn and will try her utmost best to keep the situation she has been thrown in solely under her control.
Tumblr media
Tetsu Asukaze
Honorary Ultimate Taxi Driver
Birthday: October 1st
Age: 26
Class: N/A
Blood type: AB
Likes: Radio, Coffee, Extraterrestrials
Dislikes: N/A
This funky young man is Tetsu Asukaze and he is known as the ultimate taxi driver. Who would’ve thought that was a talent, huh? Tetsu’s situation as an ultimate is a bit different from others because he only discovered his talent after getting old enough to drive which meant his high school days were already over. Despite this, Hope’s Peak decided to give him an honorary title of an ultimate taxi driver. Whatever that means…
Even though Hope’s Peak had given a public acknowledgment of Tetsu’s talent, he doesn’t think much of it nor does he feel he really belongs with the other ultimates.
Personality-wise, Tetsu is your serene local cryptid whose life has no order and looking at his sleeping schedule it’ll stay like that. Despite his harmless chaos, he is a very sweet lad with a passion for the unknown and obscure theories.
Tumblr media
Tsubaki Ito
Former Ultimate Mortician
Birthday: May 8th
Age: 24
Class: 71-A
Blood type: O
Likes: Medical History, Bad and Gory Horror Movies
Dislikes: Spirals
This unnerving and small woman is Tsubaki Ito, the ultimate mortician. She was born as a miracle child to an old couple that ran a mortician family business. In fact, everyone in her extended family is at least a generation older than her. As the years went by, her family slowly passing away from natural causes had become a regular occurrence.
Tsubaki is specialized in body restoration and desairology, as she tends to work with victims of causalities. She got her title by her ability to make even the worst of murder victims to look like they are merely sleeping in their caskets.
As the concept of death is an old friend in her family, Tsubaki has become desensitized towards the subject and can come off as insensitive towards the killing game. But what can you do when your daily routine occasionally includes pulling out a chainsaw from someone’s chest cavity due to a gruesome accident?  Despite this, Tsubaki is very sweet and will address everyone with an endearing tone.

Hindsight is 2020; Translations, A Year In Review
Total Year’s Output: 290,131 (published as of 14 Jan 2021)
If I include unpublished, upwards of 375k def.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2020?
Haha. Translating Chinese, me. Who would have thought. That aside, probably Zheng Xuan/Chu Yunxiu, along w that it is very short compared to most other romance-centred fics that I read, and falling as hard for that ship as I had.
Zheng Xuan consciously walked to stand beside Chu Yunxiu and looked especially obedient as he took out a small box from the pocket of his coat, scaring Chu Yunxiu half to death. “Don’t worry, it’s not a ring… Didn’t you say last time that your coat button broke and wanted to find a similar one? Here, for you.” (...)
Of the ten thousand tv dramas that Chu Yunxiu had watched, not a single one of them taught her how to reject the button of her favourite coat.
What’s your favourite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest.
Flowers Dedicated to the Cold of Winter -
Hands down. It meanders through the different time periods of Samsara, non-linear narrative format, heavily slice of life. Yet through which it manages to delve into seldom-explored topics peppered with sublime characterisation - such as Zhou Zekai setting his phone ringtone as the sound effect for Shattered Frost in autumn and winter, Wildfire in spring and summer; the woe's of Samsara's financial director to make Samsara a profitable business across the seasons; Sun Xiang sneaking off to watch Excellent Era in s10 challenger's league and the resultant exposition on Qiu Fei's legacy; the spirit of the Four Heavenly Kings in Tyranny and their looming retirement, most notably Han Wenqing, through the eyes of Zhang Xinjie. I could go on and on, I love this fic so much, and forever will.
Jiang Botao knew that Sun Xiang was watching all of this on the stage silently from some corner or other. Watching Qiu Fei, the successor to ‘One Autumn Leaf’ that had been groomed and abandoned; Qiu Fei, willing to stand behind Sun Xiang as a shadow; Qiu Fei, insisting on staying on to fight the challenger’s league with Excellent Era, desperately putting in his all to push Excellent Era ashore.
The relationship between the team and the club was intriguing. There were times when the club required the team’s loyalty. There were times when loyalty had no saving grace.
Most popular story of the year?
Return - I can see why, yeah. Main char halo is strong in this fandom, alongside that this fic is pretty fun w powerful feel-goods near the end. I was really excited to get to translate this, too. The reporter that goes on a mission to find Ye Xiu in the VR server seriously gives off such Blue River vibes.
East Window really wanted to burst into tears. “I was only an innocent passer-by who was on the way to collect a quest item…”
One Harvest Year concluded, “All in all, in the eyes of the big guild, we’re both complicit, thick as thieves, blacklisted insurgents, and will be the key targets of their ire in the coming days. Congratulations, hero.”
Most fun story to translate?
Written in the Stars - finished translating this in a single evening, albeit shorter than most others that I take on. The premise is simple, a preternatural connection between Ye Xiu and Ye Qiu, but it flows so beautifully between the scenes, most notably that it doesn’t have a lot of discrete dialogue tags. It's also the only fic tl that I've managed to reread for leisure and enjoy as it is without going into hardcore editing glasses mode.
Again a few years later, there was suddenly an afternoon when Ye Qiu leaned by his side and asked, hey. Have you ever cried for no good reason before? Ye Xiu instantly grew spirited, reasonably and righteously interrogating Ye Qiu, did you really curse your own brother?
Then, Ye Xiu thought of something – ever since he returned home, he’d never cried again.
Hardest story to translate?
Awkward Conversations - really threw myself in the deep end for this one :pikalul: cultural nods and puns and slang abound. It's def not my proudest work, but one I'm proud for trying nevertheless due to it being more unlikely to appear in the wild in efandom. It is rather quintessential Chinese slice of life. National team shenanigans.
Being a support class and once again target to a barrage of attacks, Li Xuan flings his mouse. “This game can’t be played.”
Huang Shaotian consoles him: “It’s okay, Crying Devil has never cried.”
Li Xuan: “Troubling Rain is truly troubling.”
Afterwards, when Zhang Xinjie is requested by fans to tell a joke, he says, “I move the Immovable Rock.”
A story I’m proud to have translated?
In the Realm of the Living, My Head Covered with Snow - naturally. It spans my entire translating career (of only one year kek), but it grew alongside me, and on its own right is already a marvellous work. I can only do my best by it. Zhouye. Beautiful relationship development, but is also a work that talks about more than just love. Feels so surreal that I only have five chapters left :bongocat:
A story I really wish I could translate?
秘密 by kukulia - author's lofter account has been deleted. The quietest love I've read in a long, long time, if ever. Zhouye. 100 postcards, 10 years; Zhou Zekai has been sending fan-mail to Ye Xiu from the very first season, and when Ye Xiu retires, they eventually become penpals.
Favourite cursed translation mistakes?
‘Han Wenjing’, ‘Grass Herb’.
Do you have any fanfic goals for the New Year?
Finish translating taint & torrent.

Wings Talks Manga: A Year in Review, Part 1 (Completed stories)
Last year, I told myself I was going to actually really more manga and watch more anime, because despite it being my main style I hadn’t actually read much in awhile. And I actually managed to get a lot done for one year. So below is a list of stories I read/watched and a few quick thoughts on them. Despite having my list open, I’m still probably not going to get to all of them, but I can try.
Be warned for spoilers.
T.egami Bachi (manga)
I love. Anyone following this tag of mine knows this has been a long journey and that I loved every minute of it. The world is beautiful, the characters are great, the emotions run high...it’s incredibly cathartic and engaging. I will never stop lauding it.
Jiu Jiu (manga)
A short series I picked up from the library that I never really covered, but that I enjoyed. Sometimes it felt a little slow to work through, but it was cute and I got really attached to the characters over five volumes. Like the mangaka, I wish there had been more opportunity to delve deeper into some of the story elements, because especially near the end it got confusing. Also I’m assuming it ended in a poly relationship? The protag grows up and has babies but you can’t really tell which love interest is the father, if either are. They’re all together in the final picture and I support it but it also bugs me bc I am confused.
Dreamin’ Sun (manga)
Mixed feelings on this one. I honestly expected a modern fantasy involving a baku going into this based on the back cover. I was wrong. I was really cute, if not overwhelmingly emotionally frustrating/full of secondhand embarassment at some points. The characters are super well-developed and continue to evolve and grow through the series. I will forever complain about the protag falling in love and centering her life around an adult man, but there were also some very touching elements that I can’t help but remember fondly.
The Wize Wize Beasts of the the Wizarding Wizdoms (manga)
The first of a lot of BL I read this year, which is honestly very new to me. My introduction to Nagabe. I’ve mentioned there’s one story I’m not too fond of, but it could be my interpretation of it. Overall very much loved it and especially love the art style.
K.amisama Kiss (manga)
I series I kind of picked up on a whim and absolutely fell in love with. Cute, funny, touching, well-thought out. There were some elements I didn’t understand (like the end), but my enjoyment overall made up for it. The one thing I wish for was a little more development for some of the minor characters. Also I love Mizuki and his development throughout the series. He makes me emotional.
Our Dining Table (manga)
Another cute, simple love story about two guys making food. I don’t have a whole lot to say about this other than it’s cute and you should read it. Although I obviously have no issues with teenage protags, it was refreshing to have a love story about two working adults that didn’t have to involve sex. Also can totally understand one guy’s aversion to eating with others, even if my own isn’t as severe.
Love on the Other Side (manga)
More Nagabe. Really, really cute. I love the story with the bird (of course). The softness of the stories and Nagabe’s art style really have stolen my heart.
B.lack Butler: Book of Circus (anime)
We all know why I watched this. Sadly the ending is as gruesome as the manga, and the one or two scenes they added didn’t play well on the DVD. But still a delight (up until the end).
The Devil is a Part-Timer (anime)
Interesting. Funny. A good world base, but I feel they could have developed it a little more, and the last episode kind of soured it a little for me because there was no really wrap-up. But I liked the characters and had a lot of fun watching it while crocheting. Wish there was a season two.
The Bride was a Boy (manga)
A brief autobiographical manga about a trans woman, filled with lots of tidbits about transgender individuals and things like HRT. Short, sweet, cute, and full of love and joy. Again, not much to say other than I recommend it.
Fractale (anime)
A lot to process. I think I would need to watch it again to fully wrap my head around it, if not more than once. An interesting world, great character, engaging story, and beautiful animation. Plus just...kinda relevant in a way that’s hard to describe. Think ease of technology verses governmental control via tech. I really loved the episode about the mysterious photographer. Plus I just fell in love with the ending song.
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (anime)
Yes, I’d never watched this before. Gonna say, not my favorite Miazaki, but as usual an excellent story with a lot of background and development. And of course I loved the creature design. Glad to finally have it watched, after all these years, but I also can’t help but wonder what the original English release was like, knowing they cut/edited a lot. Because a lot of that violence and death was...kinda necessary to understanding character motives.
H.aibane Renmei (anime)
Again, another series that’s been at the top of my list for forever. I didn’t even have an excuse not to watch is as I own the DVDs. Excellent, and touching, if not cutting a little too close to home at times (like self-harm/BFRB). Really my introduction to ABe, and I have to say I never saw the ending coming. But would definitely watch again and again. Kinda wish I could do a cosplay for this series (I’d probably be Nemu, or one of the masked characters), but I feel like you need a group for it.
G.osick (anime)
I didn’t complete this one, I’m sorry. I think the art is great, and the arcs in concept are amazing...but it falls through in the delivery. The characters don’t really feel like they have driving motives behind their actions, and sometimes the evidence and stuff are things you can’t discern from watching (’I can tell you aren’t the daughter of a coal baron because you walk short distances before turning sharply and walking the other way, like you’re pacing in a small psych ward cell’-yes, that’s a real example). Lots of potential, but not great. Sorry.
Wolf Children (anime)
Very cute. Beautiful anime. I don’t think I can say much about this that hasn’t already been said. My favorite part is the ending where she’s saying goodbye just because of how both painfully and empoweringly emotional it is.
5 Centimeters Per Second (anime)
Not bad, but probably not my favorite. It didn’t help that the version I was watching didn’t translate all of the writing, so I feel like I missed a lot of elements. While the story is definitely a sentiment I can get behind, it was also a little bit unsatisfying for me, especially at the end. But idk, maybe I just don’t like the idea of moving on when there’s the opportunity to not.
Colorful (anime)
It was...a film. About a suicide. Looking back I don’t particularly feel strongly either way about it. I think the ending was good, and giving the protag some sort of motivation, but it took forever to really get to a point where I cared about him (or he seemed to really care about the body he was inhabiting and the person he was trying to be). Some of the stuff was just...uncomfortable. It’s probably worth watching, but overall I wasn’t wowed by it.
Ibistu (manga)
My first shrink-wrapped manga. It ties together very well in the end, and the horror and violence elements did elicit some very visceral reactions in me (particularly the threat of the iron and, later, the staples). The short stories were also good, particularly the doll factory one, but I wasn’t the most fond of the one about the mangaka. Just know there’s a reason it’s shrink-wrapped and it’s not a ‘positive’ one.
A Silent Voice (anime)
Probably one of my favorite films. While I didn’t always understand the motivations behind some of the characters or their actions, it wasn’t in a way that made me uncomfortable like some of the things in Colorful did. It felt more natural for them to be irrational. Again, there is suicide, so be warned if you don’t want to deal with that. But the story is sweet and the characters are amazing. But I also have a weakness for things involving sign language and communication.
Children Who Chase Lost Voices (anime)
Very cool. Beautiful landscapes. Gave me very strong Princess Mononoke vibes at some points, but it also stood as its own story with interesting characters there are elements I wish we could have delved deeper into, though. Also...what war did the teacher fight in? It didn’t look very modern. Also also I will forever wince at the pronunciation of ‘Quetzalcoatl’. Death is a strong theme in it, so be prepared if you watch it.
The Boy and the Beast (anime)
Excellent character design. Excellent story. Excellent animation. My one complaint would be that the climax felt kind of thrown together, even though it tied back to the beginning in a good way. But overall a beautiful world with some great humor and intense elements.
The Garden of Words (anime)
Spoiler: again a story about a kid falling in love with an adult. From a platonic standpoint, the story still feels a little weird, particularly in terms of the woman’s motivations, but looking back her not getting too involved in him missing school...kinda feels like what I would do to, especially in her situation. It’s sweet, though. Maybe it’s just me and my preferences, but some elements feel a bit incomplete, and I wish had been explored/wrapped up.
Summer Wars (anime)
Probably a favorite on the films list. Again, beautiful animation. I’m not going to get over this style. But I especially liked the design of OZ and the excess of blank space in it. Characters were many but great (although I didn’t get the one baseball player was part of the family until almost the end, but that says more about me and paying attention). Even Mom got really engaged in it when I had her watch it with me (I also had her watch Wolf Children, which I thought she would like more, but apparently not). There is a character death, but if you don’t mind that it’s definitely a watch.
Beauty and the Beast Girl (manga)
A cute little story about a blind girl and a dragon girl falling in love-what more could you want? Their histories actually tie together in a really neat way. Honestly my one complaint would be that the ending feels a little too ideal and easily wrapped-up. But sometimes we need things to be that perfect, you know?
P.andora Heart (manga)
The other big story I tackled this year. There were points that were a bit slow/disengaging to me, but overall once I got hooked I really loved it. I think I need a second read to really fully understand it (if that’s possible), but equal parts cute, intense, and bittersweet. Elliot’s whole development was probably my favorite bit.
The God and the Flightless Messenger (manga)
My last story of 2020, and a very cute one at that. Another short story, with beautiful art. I don’t...really know what to say about it. It’s cute, and the love story feels both very natural and almost...secondary? Idk how to describe that. The relationship between the two of them is obviously key, but it’s the type of story where ‘I love you’ isn’t needed. It’s already there.
So yeah, there’s the list. It’s a long list. I probably still missed some. I might try to make a second list with ‘in progress’  series but I’ll be playing that by ear. I’d love to hear some of you all’s thoughts on these stories (if you’ve read/watched them), or which you now want to read/watch!

Fanfic ask meme: 2, 10, 14!
Questions 4, 9 and 18 answered here. Question list here.
2. What’s next on your ‘to-read’ list? (Fan fiction or otherwise)
In the next couple of days I aim to check the PIllars of Eternity tag on AO3 and devour its riches, sprinkling comments as I go. I’ve not had a proper delve in ages and I’ve been desperate to.
-
10. Mutual pining or enemies to friends to lovers.
Both have a lot of potential for fun character explorations if they’re written well. I’d prefer my mutual pining to be part of a slow burn that has some payoff in the end though. And I’ve not read much of it but I can imagine that enemies to friends to lovers has some excellent character development potential. I do get squicked out with certain villain/hero shipping dynamics though, so I suspect the trope could be a bit hit or miss for me.
-
14. Post a line of dialogue from one of your WIPs without context.
“I thought that I was on a path. That Eothas wanted me to come here. I thought that what I was doing was- that I was...” shame surged through her, “important.”

Rammstein - untitled
Tumblr media
As soon as it was confirmed for 2019, Rammstein’s seventh studio album was always going to be one of the biggest metal releases of the year, if not the biggest, and it was actually nice to see the band use that to their advantage and give the album a worthily ceremonial roll-out. The promotion alone was a welcome return to times when big artists generally put more effort into their album promo cycles. I get that it got a little overdone in its time, and I get that not every artist has at their disposal the means to give their upcoming records the kind of red carpet treatment that Rammstein has given theirs. And sudden/short-notice, unprecedented album drops have been a cool way for artists to show their confidence in their work and reputation to build their own hype on exactly that suddenness. But in a day and age where sudden project releases carry much less surprise factor now and seem more to be symptomatic of short attention spans and capitalizing on a trend, Rammstein's more magnificent promotional phase for their first album in a decade was a nice change of pace, for me at least. From the incrementally released trailers and teasers for each song, the big broadcast of the single "Radio", to cryptic early social media messages and the delay of the very reveal of the title (or lack thereof) and cover art, Rammstein did a lot to take advantage of their ability to give their album a more committed old-school promotion when few else were doing so. Whereas the once brave, sudden nonchalant album drop has now grown dejected and taken on a possibility to be interpreted as nervousness to hype what might not live up to such hype (it can't disappoint and not live up to the hype if you don't give it any hype), a big roll-out like this has once again become a real sign of confidence in one's work, and based on their seventh album’s roll-out, Rammstein knew they had put together a hell of a comeback album. And that became incredibly clear as soon as the band released their most monumental combined visual and auditory statement to date with the music video for the first single and opening track "Deutschland".
The song itself is a sobering, grand, sorrowfully heart-wrenching cry for the band's homeland and its long, tumultuous struggle to overcome its infamously dark history. It's the kind of tough, honest, and well-timed critical look that I must give Rammstein respect for making, and the huge production and ambitious concept of the music video directed by Specter Berlin do justice to both the song and its uneasy (to say the least) subject matter. It's the kind of biting commentary that the video for Childish Gambino's "This Is America" was so revered for last year, though I honestly think that the Childish Gambino song itself has been largely overrated outside the context of the video and that "Deutschland" is an even more fearlessly convicting song and its video and even more artistically accomplished national critique (as it should have with its evidently bigger budget). But to get into the song itself since it’s on topic, “Deutschland” is a conflicted cry for the band’s homeland and the aftermath of its darkest days it is still struggling to overcome. The lyrics highlight Germany’s pride in its achievements and its unyielding ambition, but how that pride and ambition has been twisted into a kind of malignant narcissism to produce some of history’s most despicable atrocities (with the band not at all coy about the history they bring up, with the reference to Übermensch and the former national anthem line “Deutschland Deutschland über allen”). The instrumental of the song is dynamic and rides in tune with the lyrics’ heaviness perfectly all the way through, and the resounding bellow of the chant, “Deutschland”, provides the burst of sonic and poetic intensity that makes the song such a standout track. And the sorrow and sincere wish to love this complicated and slowly healing Germany is conveyed magnificently in Till Lindemann’s subtly heart-wrenching vocal performance. If it’s not already obvious from the preceding verbiage in this paragraph, “Deutschland” is undoubtedly going to be near or at the top of my song list at the end of this year.
Moving on from my favorite song of 2019 so far, the second single and second track on the album, “Radio”, which had a similarly big release, is possibly the catchiest song on the album with its groovy guitar riff, its keyboard sprinkling on top, and its fittingly infectious chorus. The song is another example of what I think is one of Rammstein’s most overlooked traits, and that is Till Lindemann’s lyricism. The song deals with an escape from life and a finding of pleasure through radio, as is pretty apparent by the title. The lyrics carry a good deal of sexual overtones, and though the line translates to putting one’s ear up to hear the radio, I’m pretty sure Lindemann chose the wording of “Mein Ohr ganz nah am” to resemble “my orgasm”. To possibly look way too deep into this and link it to German history, the band members grew up in the part of Berlin in East Germany, which was basically an impoverished hell hole under Soviet rule, and the band have expressed before their frustration with the forced insulation of the old regime. The radio referred to in the song is specified to be one the picks up international broadcasts, the wonders of which I imagine Rammstein and other Berliners in East Germany were depply inspired by and longed desperately to get any taste they could of (which the voracious appetite the women had for the radios in the music video and the revolt it led to supports).
Third in the track listing is the song “Zeig Dich”(meaning “Show Yourself), whose orthodoxical introductory chant opens the heavy quick-rhythm-driven guitar riff base of the song and its religious critique excellently. The quick calling cards the lyrics bring up to identify the subject of the song as the Christian church aren’t really much more than that, but the fact that the invocation of child abuse and the forbidding of contraception immediately brings to mind an organization meant to promote moral, Godly living is reflective of so many things wrong with the church. But the song seems to be a flustered insistence for the church to reveal its true and conflicting intentions: for its own sustenance through its authority over its followers and their passing down and around of the doctrine. The poetic technique is audibly impressive, but lost in translation, as the verses are loaded with mantras all tagged with the prefix “ver-”, which doesn’t really have an English equivalent, but serves to make more extremein some way the verbs being modified, which could be interpreted quite a few ways in the context of the song’s religious critique.
The fourth track, “Ausländer”, was a bit off-putting to me at first for its dancy beat and pitch-shifted backing vocal sample, but its lighter attitude compared to the surrounding tracks was probably a good move by the band and its cheeky fun has helped it grow on me a bit. The song is a kind of comedic suggestion to travelers to learn to speak native languages because the opposite gender loves to hear a foreigner speak their tongue, with Lindemann dropping all these overly dramatic romantic pleas in Spanish, French, and Russian. It’s kind of tongue-in-cheek, but the concept of cultures mingling and the language through which it happens is certainly something that could be read into even deeper here, but I feel I might be getting in too deep to this album’s lyrics as it is. Fun song! It strikes me as this album’s “Haifisch”.
The sixth song is called “Sex”, and it is one of those universally understood words that needs no translation. Rammstein have never been shy about putting all the raunchiest and most intentionally provocative aspects of the universal pleasure into song (Till Lindemann’s 2015 solo album also was largely about his many sexual fantasies and aspirations). But on this song, Rammstein finally tackle the queasy feelings of rising sexual attraction and the intense urge to bask in its pleasure with another. The lyrics come off, not so much as creepy or filthy, but rather as profoundly horny (a phrase I never thought I’d type, but here we are), with Lindemann singing “Wir leben bei sex”, which means “we live during sex”, which could be interpreted as an ode to the pleasure of the act of reproduction. The boisterous vocal delivery of the titular refrain gives the already heavy, groovy, and provocative song a different primal energy, and it makes the desire spoken of in the lyrics evident and real. And speaking of powerfully primal vocal performances...
The song “Puppe” has justifiably gained a lot of attention for Till Lindemann’s scathingly rough and chillingly tortured vocal delivery in its second half, which was the first thing that caught my ear too when I gave this album its first spin. Delving into the lyrics the song reveals itself to be about a child who is kept comforted (or even medicated to a degree) by a doll while this child’s sister goes off to work, which is revealed to be only in the neighboring room and is likely to be prostitution. The song eventually reveals that the child finds the sister dead at the hands of an assailant during her work, driving the child to bite the head off the doll, which could have a variety of interpretations regarding this already unhinged character’s stability, killing the assailant, destroying the comforting object and thus shedding all childhood innocence completely at the sight of such trauma, or simply a deranged, destructive breakdown. Personally, I think the lyrics suggest that the child rips the doll’s head off in an act of traumatic realization of the world’s cruelty and a refusal to accept being sheltered from it, with whatever actions following being very up in the air. Either way, how the band builds up the the climax of the child biting the head of the doll off and explodes into vibrant heaviness provides the perfect backing for Lindemann to play this character phenomenally.
The soulful metallic ballad “Was ich Liebe” is probably the most flat-out depressing song on the album, and despite the simplicity of its lyrics, its conflict with its speaker wanting to love but also feeling that doing so is futile and that all pleasure is fleeting is well expressed, and an interestingly stark contrast to “Sex”, wherein the raw, physical lust brings about divine, life-affirming pleasure and whereas “Was ich Liebe” details perhaps the comedown from the high of sexual fulfillment to a life viewed through the most hopeless lens in which all pleasure eventually rots and everything loved dies. The song itself doesn’t actually reference sex at all, but it is perhaps its very absence and the vagueness concepts the speaker laments over that suggest that perhaps the speaker doesn’t even know how to find the lasting forms of love sought through sex. Then again, I could just be reading into Rammstein’s trend of often writing about sex. Sonically it provides a break from all the extreme energy leading up to it,which is nice in the track listing, but the woeful lamentation makes it come off as a bit overly dramatic. Given the whiny, defeatist subject matter though, perhaps that was intentional.
The very next song, “Diamant”, is an even more stripped back acoustic breather track supplemented with weeping vibratto strings for an intentionally melodramatic effect. It's a somber love song in which Lindemann compares his allure to a beautiful person to that of a diamond, struggling with an infatuation that he knows is soul-sucking and something he should avoid, concluding his comparison of this beautiful person to the beautiful jewel in dejection, saying it’s only a stone.
The song “Weit Weg” is probably the album's low point both lyrically and musically, being a less tangibly performed song of unfulfilled longing for a far away woman with some juxtaposition between feeling close, but oh so far away too, which Lindemann has written about before much more convincingly. And the somewhat slow pace and minimal energy of the whole band's performance kind of just makes it drag on. It's not the worst song, but by Rammstein's standards and this album's standards, it's only distinction from the other songs on the album is its lack of much melodic or lyrical distinction.
“Tattoo” thankfully brings back the energy of the band's signature industrial metal groove for the album's last minutes. It definitely hearkens back to Reise Reise musically, and it's a fine offering of their more groovy old-school style. The song is about the literal act of tattooing a lover's name and contemplating the pain and permanence of it all to express the significance of their love in the speaker's life, ending on the somewhat tongue-in-cheek contemplation that if they ever split up, then the speaker will have to find someone else with the same name. Lyrically, it's very direct, but also colorful and a fresh angle for this topic.
The album closes on perhaps the most haunting and unsettling note (rivaled only by "Puppe") with “Halloman”, a song about the luring of a young girl by the titular "Hallomann" (who is suggested to be part of the Catholic church when the girl is revealed to be dancing while wearing a rosary) into a life of sexual servitude. It's a disturbing and genuinely mournful song, and the band handles the seriousness of the subject matter well both lyrically and musically with the pleading sorrow in Till Lindemann's performance conveying the gravity of the all too common story of childhood stolen and butchered by depraved opportunists who prey upon the vulnerable. I'm glad Tue band saved this song for the end because I can't imagine its eerie realism anywhere else in the track listing. It's an incredibly emotive, but chilling finish to the album, and it does a fantastic job bowing out for the album.
And that's it; that's Rammstein's long-awaited seventh studio album. In many ways it is Rammstein simply getting back on track after their long creative break after Liebe ist für alle da, but it does also feel like a well-rounded set of songs that take a lot from the band's whole career, and the songs do mostly seem very well nurtured. And while this album probably didn't need ten years to make, I'm certainly glad it's here now and I hope it helps Rammstein get back into a more consistent creative cycle. If there’s one thing that dampens the album’s experience, it’s perhaps the decrease in energy and the reversion to some of the band’s more typical tendencies without supplementation during the second half. But the brightest moments on the album definitely outweigh the duller ones, and the dynamic excitement of the album's experience certainly stems from Rammstein smartly placing their confidence in the progress they had made with their sound rather than trying to make a disingenuous rehash of Sehnsucht or Mutter alone (though the elements they bring in from those albums do serve to bolster this one). And through it all, Rammstein stays true to the focus on tight, efficient composition that has made every album of theirs so engaging and digestible. I'm glad they're back.

A Little Bit Of Organization Wouldn’t Hurt A Bit
Tumblr media
Today is a searching and researching online day for an end to the endless clutter I have lived with FOREVER! I am so ready to clear the decks both physically/mentally and offline/online and get to some #extremeproductivity.
This is going to involve a lot of thinking and a lot of trying out things to streamline it into this no-fluff ecosystem I am dreaming about, even as I am typing this. A big part of this is to go paperless and also to start using my IOS phone a lot more. The below may seem like a lot of places but the object of my game is to have places to put things where I can go back and retrieve them. My mind and life goes so fast a lot of the time that the clutter, even when it is just mental has a tendency to pile up and to overwhelm me. By clearing physical mess (most importantly paper) and mental overflow, I can create the space I need to be the best me. Two big goals are time to do online study and being fit mind and body.
Read on for tools and thoughts about them:
Tumblr - Reasons for Tumblr: braindumps, writing habit, connection my introvert heart desires at times, and ease of use. Tumblr is good just to write or to spend time reading. I find a lot of the people on Tumblr are pretty deep, creative and wildly entertaining. Tumblr is a good place for introverts.
Saved.io - to try and curb the worthless habit of saving fifty trillion bookmarks and adding to them daily without ever really delving into those websites or using them. No extensions for this. You just add saved.io after the http:// or https:// and to make folder (tags/labels) put a name in front of .saved.io. Super easy. Sign up for an account and have an online spot for bookmarking your heart out
Google Keep - I need something to take down my own thoughts in a browser as I am surfing/researching and do not want to make a big deal out of it. There is a Chrome extension or you can right-click to add notes with tags. Braindumps and a place to satisfy data pack-rat urges. Follows the line of thinking that I am using Google for a lot of things and it’s already there anyway.
Google Calendar - I have multiple Google accounts but one where all my emails and appointments go. I synced this as my main calendar on IOS instead of the default calendar. One calendar to rule them all! Same for the one gmail. There is also an extension to add events quickly, along with the right click option.
Feedbro - RSS feed reader - too bad Google did away with theirs. This takes away some bookmarks for favorite sites/blogs and gives me an easy and fast way to know that I am keeping up with things that are important to me. Clicking the extension lets you “Find feeds on this page,” save feeds and also to open up your feedreader. Feeds can be categorized into folders.
LastPass - I have used this for years on my computers. It is the best password keeper as far as I am concerned. AND FREE! Today, I put it on my phone. I cannot say enough about how great this tool is for your information.
Scanbot - app for scanning in documents by taking a pic of them. This will definitely come in handy for those on-the-go document situations. Things like bills, manuals, purchase papers, etc. I have at home will, most of the time, be scanned in using my printer’s scanner.
Bullet Journal (BuJo) - my offline to-do / to-did and short journal things. I have one for me and one for my computer. The one for my computer has already saved me this year when I was trying to figure out what program was conflicting with another. My memory was helped by my documentation on what programs I had downloaded and when. I also document computer problems: what happened and what helped. Everything in one book - I think everyone should have one of these and I am surprised I never thought of it before this year. My personal BuJo is not one of internet proportions. I tried that and failed miserably and lost all site of what the book was supposed to be for to begin with. I ditched the trying to make it pretty and doing weekly/monthly spreads. I am back to the original version that Carroll Ryder set forth with his inspiration and am a thousand times better for it. This is something I can hold in my hands and look back on from time to time to see exactly how my time on earth went.
SimpleNote - I have a Reminder label in this for to-do’s, but I mostly just write to-do’s on the calendar or on a post-it/index card to throw away. I also document to-do/to-did’s in my personal BuJo. No this program is going to be something I use for some time, I do believe. I decided I am going to document work with this, especially conversations. I never remember the specifics in time so this will be my second work brain. Tags will be people (initials, first name, or my nickname for them). I can then go back to specific conversations that I want to refresh myself on and also for people notes such as date of birth, family (kid/husband/wife name), and/or specific things about them. Also, dates of meetings, project dates, etc. This is in its infancy - I have high hopes for this going forward.
AirTable - This website/app has high potential. I really like that it is set up like an Excel spreadsheet. I have projects set up in it for tracking daily spending, pantry inventory, gifts, etc. etc. etc. This is so customizable!!!! In my pantry list, I can add columns to be able to know what my lowest price on an item was - so in essence, a pantry checker with a price book included. I figure the way I use it will grow as I get used to it and find its value.
mySymptoms -  $$ App for tracking your health. This is the one thing I paid for. I can’t wait to get enough stuff in it for a good PDF download. It is customizable to you, just like the AirTable. You can add/delete the things you want to track and there is a big list of them: drinks, food, medications, supplements, mood, symptoms, bowel, energy, sleep, stress, exercise, environment, and other. Some of these can be extra helpful for people who struggle with certain diseases or triggers. This is certainly a make-it-all-about-you app that can show correlations between a factor(s) causing another factor(s). Or even for people who forget when or how long they took medications or supplements. In my new found goal of creating a life that serves my health - this one is a winning part of it. I will be a participant in my healthcare.
Instagram - because, at times, I like to take photos of food and things I see that I like. And because, I hate Facebook. IG also gives me an easy way to change the way the photos look and share back to myself for other uses and ways to share my account online with my online people-ha. Braindump for photos.
Twitter - because it’s fun... and sometimes informative. Twitter is the quick connection to the rest of the world and let’s anyone fit into it. My favorite parts of the twit are hashtag and whatever “new episode” tv show I am watching. It’s fun to join in with whatever other people think of an episode and throw your two cents in too. I never feel like I am sitting at my house alone on Friday & Saturday nights with #livepd. With the added gifs on posts, it can get quite hilarious.
GoodReads - This is hooked up to my Amazon account and my Amazon account is hooked up to my local library account through Overdrive. So... free books. I read every night on my Kindle app (you can read in your browser too). The books are automatically added to my GoodReads account. At this time, I am 8 books ahead on my goal to read 100 books this year.
Listal - As for movies, the best site I have found is Listal. You can tag, star and make lists for the movies/tv you watch (along with books, products, people, dvds, and games, if you wish). Many members do a Halloween movie list each year.
Pinterest - this place fulfills my yearnings to save a million quotes, presented in a pretty way and is the easiest way to make kick ass vision boards. I have multiple boards for this very thing: HouseVB, ClothesVB, ThingsVB and so on.
This is the big starting out list. I didn’t want to leave anything out because I need to be clear on what I am really using and be consistent on what accounts I use for what services. Pinterest may be a big black hole, but once set up with mostly productive boards, I can relax knowing that they are helping me visualize the things I want while also letting me do something that is fun (even if sometimes just losing time surfing the internet). The same with Twitter and Instagram. They are black holes for time. But this way they are serving a purpose of entertainment and braindumps to clear the way for good space in my life. I will follow up with this as being productive online is both an important topic for me and also a much needed topic discussion. In my research, I wish more people would post about their systems to help the rest of us out :D

TOP 25 FICS OF 2018
1. A Cornstalk Fiddle by @notbecauseofvictories | Devil Went Down To Georgia | The Devil/Johnny | 17k
Where Johnny goes, the Devil follows; where Johnny goes, the Devil is already there.
Heather Says: So. I never thought that my favorite fic of the entire year would be a fic written about a song - and one that I don’t even particularly like - but here I am. I read this fic the same night that I finally broke down and watched Moonlight, and ended up listening to Moonlight’s End Credits and Hello Stranger by Barbara Lewis on repeat while I finished that first chapter on my back porch. This is that perfectly atmospheric fic that you’ll find maybe once every ten years and could probably sustain you on its memory for just as long.
2. Work of All Saints by @kaikamahine | Coco | Imelda/Hector/Ernesto | 210k
Imelda Rivera (b. 1899 - d. 1969), a story that includes but is not limited to: the finest music school this side of the Santo Domingo, three traveling musicians and the mess they made of love, the twice-cursed assassination of Venustiano Carranza, all the patron saints, and ninety-six ways a man can try to cross a bridge.
Heather Says: This story blew my entire mind. It was lovely, and tragic, and hilarious, and everything that a good novel should be. The parts of this fic that map out the unseen lives of Imelda, Hector, and Ernesto, that hidden backstory that a movie can only hint about, were exquisite to the point that I was afraid getting to the point where, well, they die, would be a letdown. It really wasn’t. If anything, the story managed to get richer as it went along, until suddenly you’re in a room sobbing into a pillow at four in the morning and have to be awake in four hours. No regrets.
3. Under the Covers by @toast-ranger-to-a-stranger | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 87k
Steve is (maybe) a little bit still in love with Nancy Wheeler and (maybe) trying to figure himself out-- between the night terrors and the babysitting and the general weirdness that is Hawkins, Indiana-- before he graduates.
Billy Hargrove fits in there somewhere (probably).
Heather Says: Under the Covers was the first Harringrove fic that actually kicked me over the edge from ‘eh this ship looks like it would have good hate sex’ and into full-fledged believer. It’s an intricately crafted look into the world of Billy Hargrove and Steve Harrington post-season two and it is absolutely glorious.
4. Bloody Ruin by esama | Castlevania | Alucard/Trevor | 37k
Vampire hunter and a vampire try to get along.
Heather Says: Written before season two came out, this was one of those fics that I clicked on because the pairing interested me and I wanted to see how it worked. It did not disappoint, and even after I delved through the tag on ao3 after I marathoned season two, this is still my favorite.
5. a road less traveled and a life less led by Azzandra | Dishonored | Billie & The Outsider | 9k
She took him out of the Void, as promised. And then she kept him, she supposed.
Heather Says: You know all that fanart that started cropping up after Death of the Outsider came out? The ones where Billie and the Outsider crept around Dunwall or Karnaca stealing fish and safes and graffiti-ing buildings? The ones with that found family vibe? Yeah. This fic scratches the same itch that all that art did.
6. But I’m Not There Yet by sarahyyy | Yuri On Ice | Yuri/Otabek | 71k
“Are you not going to read the article?” she asks, flopping onto his bed. “Look who ranked second, just after Phichit Chulanont.”
Otabek reluctantly scrolls down, and oh. #2 - Yuri Plisetsky
In the embedded Instagram photo just under that subheading, a very grumpy Yuri is cuddling a very grumpy-looking cat. The caption reads: I found the cat version of me at the shelter today. #iknowisaidnomorecats #canyoublameme
Heather Says: And here, in the stupid cute category we have teenagers navigating love through social media. What’s more, there’s a companion fic.
7. flowers start to bloom in every different hue by orphan-account | Coraline | Coraline/Wybourn | 1k
Coraline grows up, gets a tattoo, and falls in love. In that order.
Heather Says: I read this fic on a slow day at work, often in quick bursts while I was waiting for the kitchen to finish my table’s food. It’s short. It’s sweet. It’s perfect. And honestly? It’s everything that I was looking for when I ventured into the Coraline tag on ao3 because I was curious.
8. Victory Conditions by @astolat | Transformers | Megatron/Optimus Prime | 37k
“Do you want me to tell you a story?” Megatron said mockingly. “You won’t like it, Prime. It’s not a very nice one.”
Heather Says: Fun fact, I’m not even in this fandom. I haven’t touched the Transformers fandom since the first movie came out in 2007 and I spent a very confusing week shipping a boy and his car. But Astolat has literally never lead me wrong, and I was having one of those bored days where nothing quite itches the right spot, so I sat down on the couch and spent two hours reading this. Worth it.
  9. just in it for the game by grim_lupine | Thor | Thor/Loki | 6k
“It's excellent rehabilitation for my image,” Loki says, widening his eyes. “They love you, and because of that they'll trust me. You wouldn't ruin this for me, would you?”
Thor glares at him.
Loki’s mouth twitches. “Also, it's the funniest thing that's ever happened to me.”
Heather Says: The Thor/Loki bug never really bit me until after Ragnorak came out. I mean, sure, I read it and it was good, but hella’s Frostiron fics basically destroyed me for any other Loki pairing. HOWEVER. Ragnorak happened and screwed that all the way up. Also, you know, this fic is absolutely lovely and was just what the doctor ordered.
10. so this guy walks into a bar by MasterOfAllImagination | Pacific Rim | Newt/Hermann | 2.5k
“Bourbon,” Hermann says, hooking his cane on the edge of the bar and sliding by degrees onto a stool.
“Straight up?” the bartender asks.
“Please.” Does he look like the kind of man who enjoys having his nostrils fumigated by undiluted whiskey? “On the rocks.”
Heather Says: I coped with Pacific Rim 2 by reading a couple AUs and a couple very, very long fics full of tragedy and math. Weirdly, the AU of a chance meeting in a bar was the one that stuck.
11. cherry pie by @brawlite & @toast-ranger-to-a-stranger | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 133k
Billy Hargrove lives for summer. Endless sunshine, heavily chlorinated pools, roaming ice cream trucks, and unencumbered freedom? There’s nothing better.
Even being stuck in Hawkins can’t ruin the summer for him. He eats it up, devouring every day whole.
Heather Says: Yeah, okay, but this is the fic that made summer worth it. Highly recommend reading at the pool or with your feet hanging off the back porch. Every piece of this fic was dripping in summertime nostalgia. It was fan-freaking-tastic.
12. the ghost and the good queen val by Wildehack (tyleet) | Thor | Thor/Valkyrie/Loki | 27k
“What,” she says, her heart racing, “was that.”
“What was what?” Korg asks, frowning up at her. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Valkyrie squints suspiciously at the ship.
“Oh my god,” Korg says. “You did! You saw a ghost!”
Heather Says: So, remember how I coped with Pacific Rim 2 with copious AUs? This is how I coped with Infinity War.
13. For Better or Worse by DragonBandit  | The Bright Sessions | Mark/Damien | 22k
All Damien ever wanted was someone who wanted him. All Damien deserves is to die alone, stripped bare of any of the comforts or affections of humanity, a title he willingly shed.
Mark Bryant seems to be the Universe's compromise.
Wherein Damien and Mark are soulmates, and this changes enough.
Heather Says: I think I’ve read this one three or four time this year? It’s 22k of well-written fic for a fandom that has a max of like 100 fics all with lengths that tend to vary between a couple hundred words to 2 or 3k, max. This fic is the one that really catapulted me into the fandom.
14. in waves by @lymricks | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 38k
It’s March and it’s too cold for Billy to be shirtless and wearing shorts, but he hadn’t noticed until Harrington appeared and made him hold still. Harrington can’t seem to stop looking at the bruises. “What’s it to you if I miss a little school, Harrington?” Billy asks. He feels goosebumps rising on his skin.
“I don’t know,” Harrington snaps back, looking uncomfortable. He shifts his weight from one foot to the other. Plant your feet, Billy wants to scream at him. I’m going to bowl you over.
Heather Says: And here we have the first fic that wasn’t written by either @toast-ranger-to-a-stranger or @brawlite that made me realize that this fandom was gonna be a good one. So fantastic.
15. the cure by aquaexplicit | The Flash | Cisco/Harry | 43k
“I guess I don’t really get what you need to fix? Harrison Wells is a hot, rich genius that pays you to make cool stuff with his daughter and is totally into you. If you guys boning is the biggest problem you have, I think this officially qualifies as your best relationship ever.”
When Barry puts it like that, everything sounds so simple and not at all as angst ridden as Cisco has been suffering the past few months.
Cisco hangs up on him.
Heather Says: I remember a couple years ago, I fell absolutely head over heels for this one Sterek fic where Derek had twin toddlers and Stiles was the hired babysitter. So I think there’s something about dad + babysitter fics that get me, even if this one in particular the ‘baby’ in question is a fifteen year old genius. Still. Dad + babysitter. I don’t even know, but apparently it works for me.
16. pull out the insides by SpineAndSpite | The Bright Sessions | Mark/Damien | 3k
“Stop,” Damien says again, more insistent this time.
“I’m not doing it on purpose.” Mark's heart pounds in his ears and he sees Damien’s hands shaking. God. They shouldn’t have started talking about sex. Shouldn’t have filled in the colors and shadows to this pencil outline of a sketch forming between them. They shouldn’t have given it a name.
Heather Says: This year seems to have had a theme when it comes to fics that I’ve liked and it seems to boil down to: people who are bad for each other have sex and catch feelings. Mark/Damien is not the healthiest ship. But it also hurts in this stupidly tragic way and hell if I didn’t fall head over heels for it.
17. tell me, get my shit together by paperclipbitch | Star Wars | Han/Lando | 5k
“I thought we were actively avoiding each other after the Trandosha Shitshow,” Han says.
“We’re actively avoiding each other after the Iridonia Shitshow,” Lando corrects him, “the Trandosha Shitshow is That Which We Do Not Speak Of.”
Heather Says: So, guess what I did in the two to three hours after seeing Solo? If you guessed: ‘combed through ao3 until you ran out of fic’ ding ding ding, you are 100% correct. This one was very, very good, which makes sense, because paperclipbitch has some good shit.
18. chases, escapes, true love, miracles by pepperfield | The Flash | Cisco/Harry 55k
Just because the timeline has been restored, doesn't mean things are back to normal. Cisco's got 99 problems, and Harry Wells is approximately 38 of them.
In which Cisco makes a bunch of plans, fails most of them, narrowly avoids being disintegrated, receives a hug or two, finds his groove, and gets his man. More or less in that order.
Heather Says: This one was long and wibbly wobbly, because it was basically what season 3 should have been. But it was also really great, and had some super quality Harrisco interactions.
19. Your Pretty Little Heart by Ever-so-reylo | Star Wars | Reylo | 64k
Modern day AU in which Ben is an Alpha, Rey is an Omega, and they are way better at having sex than at communicating with each other.
Heather Says: Speaking of people who are probably a little bit bad for each other... This particular fic was new to me, not because of the um, extensive sexual content, but because I’m usually not a fan of A/B/O. But this one was extremely good, enough that I actually liked it for a/b/o aspect rather than in spite of it.
20. Draconia by perceived_nobility | The Bright Sessions | Mark/Damien | 4k
"So I was driving. One ex wife and one ex husband later, stopping at the same fucking gas stations you and I stopped at."
Heather Says: This fic actually prompted a 3 hour long conversation on the ‘adult’ Mark/Damien discord where we basically outlined an entire fic that I never got around to writing where Damien is raising a child, has a farm, and runs into Mark ten years down the ride. One day, I might write it, because vaguely domestic, meet-again-ten-years-down-the-road fics always bowl me right the fuck over and just. There needs to be more fic like this one in the world. But until then, the world can marvel at the beauty that is this one.
21. Artifice by buttpatrol | Wolf 359 | Hera/Eiffel | 23k
A story told in parts about colour palettes, identity, robot uprisings, sensational trials, space, and messy love.
Heather Says: As I’ve recently finished relistening to Wolf 359 I have a fresh appreciation for this fic, which is one of the only longer fics on ao3 that just grips you by the heart and squeezes the same way that the series does. It might have been written before the end of the series, but it’s honestly just as perfect.
22. (shoot the lights out, hide) till its bright out by lipgallagher | Stranger Things | Billy/Steve | 93k
The most dangerous thing walking around Hawkins goes by the name Billy Hargrove.
And he fucking knows it.
Heather Says: I’m kind of cheating here, because this is a series rather than a single fic, but I’m not picking just one part. I read the first four or so parts of this fic when I was visiting my family in South Carolina and spent the next few days wandering around the place half-in Steve Harrington’s headspace. It was an incredibly surreal experience, which lead to a pretty strong combination of mania, depression, and an indescribable craving for ice cream. So like, maybe don’t read this fic if you’re in a bad head space? But also it’s very good and features one of the most fucked up and intriguing Steve’s that I’ve seen yet.
23. Until My Feet Bleed and My Heart Aches by Reiya | Yuri On Ice | Yuuri/Viktor | 197k
‘…Of all the rivalries in the world of sports over the years, perhaps none has become so legendary as that of Russian figure skater Viktor Nikiforov and his rival, Japanese Yuuri Katsuki…’
Heather Says: I actually read this one on the plane ride down to South Carolina, and kind of didn’t like it at first? I’m not sure if it was just the act of putting Yuuri and Victor into the position of rivals that made me uncomfortable or the goddamn delays that turned half a day of travelling into a full one, but eventually I was able to get into and enjoyed it quite a bit. I really like the rivals to lovers trope, so I’d been looking forward to this one a lot.
24. Traveling Far by @astolat | Game of Thrones | Jaime/Brienne | 24k
Three weeks into their delightful slog across Westeros, during yet another charming day of shitting in the woods, eating half-raw squirrel, and trudging his feet bloody, the single most dour and uninteresting woman Jaime had ever met in all of Westeros stopped in the middle of a field, drew a deep breath, and said, “When I was seven, my aunt came to visit with her son. My father told me that as the daughter of the house, it was my duty to show hospitality to my guests and to be gracious to them. I wanted to make him proud. So for three weeks, I let my cousin follow me around and talk to me about spiders.”
Heather Says: I’ve become very fond of astolat’s Jaime/Brienne fics, and I think this one is my favorite yet. Featuring Starks, found family, and a whole lot of walking.
25. lilies of the valley (cover me with kisses, make my garden grow) by diasterisms | Star Wars | Reylo | 8k
Every girl is entitled to the mistake. That one colossal fuck-up that permanently alters the terrain of who you are. You'll either learn from it or you won't, so might as well have the time of your life.
Heather Says: I just. I really like flower shop AUs, and the idea of a Kylo Ren who owns a sleek flower shop being menaced by a tiny gremlin in a leather jacket just. Kills me. It was really sweet and all kinds of wonderful.

Q: Why the Mad Max Fandom?
A: My interest in Mad Max started early. I was maybe 12-14 when my mom picked it up on VHS at a garage sale because she had fond memories of the film when it came out (she saw it in theaters, which is rare for her). We’re both fond of cars and dystopian/apocalyptic stuff, so I easily connected with the movie and fell in love with WAY too many of the characters. So there was my weirdo self, in the early 2000s, loving MM1 but not really having a fandom to join. I had fun on my own, drawing stuff, making toys of the characters, writing doofy adolescent fanfic. You know, the works. But I did it in isolation, because I was a LONELY kid. Not just in terms of fandom, there were just never other kids around, or adults (other than my parents) around. Therefore, I spent most of my time online, and lost countless hours lurking on the MadMaxMovies.com forum. But I didn’t feel safe talking to people there, because the only other fans were guys my dad’s age. For years, if I had any kind of fandom-related wish that I’d give an arm to fulfill, it was that other girls and queer folks would embrace the MM series so I could finally share my excitement with people that would “get” me. Fast forward to 2015. Fury Road fulfilled that wish. I knew tumblr was my best chance at getting those friends I’d wanted for so long. It’s better than I’d ever dreamed. Mad Max Fandom, I love you! Special shoutout to @d--t, @crunkmouse, @sillyb0yblue, @sleepymayo, @lethalpr0tector, @legendofstraydog, @partyinvalhalla and @vanessa-geraldine-carlysle!
Q: What do you think are some defining aspects of your work? Do you have a style? Recurrent themes?
A: I love to write first-person fic that delves into the darker aspects of the human psyche. How do we justify killing others? What impact does a hypermasculine culture have upon a man with depression and anxiety? Is violence really the key to surviving the apocalypse? I also enjoy writing about people seeking control or freedom, and wrestling with that they believe they need to do to achieve that.
Q: What (if any) music do you listen to for help getting those creative juices flowing?
A: Since I do first person, I like something to get me into the head of the character I’m writing, so I make playlists for certain characters. 99% of the time, anymore, I’m writing as Roop, so on his playlist I’ve got a bunch of stuff quasi-hipster stuff that touches upon themes of isolation, anger, violence, and feelings of helplessness. There’s a bunch of indie rock, some seventies stuff, and A LOT OF PINK FLOYD. Oh, and there’s some Aussie rock in there too, of course.
Q: What is your biggest challenge as a creator?
A: Finding the time to write!
Q: Which character do you relate to the most, and how does that affect your approach to that character? Is someone else your favourite to portray? How has your understanding of these characters grown through portraying them?
A: Roop… And Roop.  And my understanding of him has absolutely grown through portraying him. He’s a character that’s in MM1 for like.. Ten minutes? And after the opening chase scene, he hardly has any lines. But Steve Millichamp does an excellent job portraying him with his posture, body language, etc. So I gleaned ideas from his non-verbal performance. Honestly, if you look at the number of times he makes a mopey face, it’s astounding. Other times, he looks at Fifi for guidance, the way a kid looks at a parent or teacher. He doesn’t seem to have any friends at work, partially due to his own personality. I could go on for hours. From all that, I extrapolated that he’s basically caught between childhood and adulthood, and he’s trying to sort out what it means to be a good cop and a good person. Sometimes those things aren’t congruent, and it tears him up because he’s a very type A, hardworking perfectionist. Growing up, he was told that he was gifted, smart, etc., and he feels like an imposter because he fixates on his shortcomings and mistakes. And when trying to live up to this impossibly high standard, he puts a lot of pressure on himself and struggles when he has to surrender or when he fails. There’s a ton more, but those are the highlights. The vast majority my MM/Roop fic stays offline. Pretty much all of it is irrelevant to the rest of the Mad Max universe, so there’s no point in posting it. It’s taken on a life of its own. Of course, some people have let me know that they dislike or disagree with my characterization of Roop. That’s fine. Nobody’s forcing them to read my fic.
Q: Do you ever self-insert, even accidentally?
A: Oh hell yes. And I’m completely shameless about it, because I don’t think the practice should be taboo or frowned upon. We wouldn’t shame an actor who tapped their lived experience to bring authenticity to a role, would we?  I think we should extend the same understanding to writers. Aside from being a great way to understand more about our selves, enjoy an escapist fantasy, or work through trauma, I think self-insertion can be a great way to evoke emotional authenticity in a story.
Q: Do you have any favourite relationships to portray? What interests you about them?
A: I pretty much stick to what I consider my strength, which is genfic. So I mostly stick to portraying platonic interactions, both friendly and unfriendly. I particularly like exploring how Roop interacts with/judges his co-workers. I’m also fond of writing about good moms who love and encourage their kids. Sometimes the mom is the viewpoint character, sometimes it’s the kid. Regardless, I like looking at how parental relationships can shape a person’s worldview.
Q: How does your work for the fandom change how you look at the source material?
A: My work makes me hyper-analyze MM1 and its novelization. I mostly write MM1 fic because I feel like we could have gotten a lot more mileage out of exploring MM1’s world, before society fully broke down and became the more fantastical wasteland we know and love in MM2, MM3, and MMFR. As much as I like the later worldbuilding stuff, I can really appreciate watching a civilization crumble in a grounded, slow-burning manner.
Q: To break or not to break canon? Why?
A: Depends on what you mean by “break.” I think a lot purists would say that I break canon, so I’ll put it this way: I like to write stories where I add to canon without directly contradicting it. We’re never shown Roop’s home life, for instance. It’s free real estate! I do this because I just want MORE MM1. More Roop, more MFP, more Armalites, all of it. I don’t feel the need to change anything, just add more volume to it. That said, I love it when others break canon! I have a ton of fun reading AUs and alternate scenes.
Q: Share some headcanons
A: GRAB A SEAT AND PUT YOUR SITTIN’ PANTS ON. Here we go: In addition to recruiting local police officers and other traditional recruiting strategies, the MFP uses conscription to fill out its ranks. Roop is one such draftee. Roop doesn’t spend any time with Charlie outside of work. He really just tries to minimize contact with the guy. If we do all my Roop headcanons, we’ll be here until the Miller completes MM5. Charlie wanted to go seminary school and become a priest, but was drafted. Losing his voice pretty much killed his dream of preaching. Fifi takes an interest in his men, but only so he can better manipulate them into staying/reenlisting. Bubba was a former MFP officer who went rogue once budget cuts and bureaucratic decisions made law enforcement abandon his rural hometown.
Q: Who are some works by other creators inside and outside of the fandom that have influenced your work?Inside the fandom, the old RP crowd and I bounced a lot of ideas off each other, and interacting with their muses helped Roop’s story grow by leaps and bounds (finger guns at @d--t’s OC, Renholder, @vanessa-geraldine-carlysle’s portrayal of Charlie, and @legendofstraydog’s OC, Syrup!) Outside the fandom, my biggest influences are Kurt Vonnegut, J.D. Salinger, Quentin Tarantino, the Coen Brothers, and Sam Esmail.
Q: Have you visited or do you plan to visit Australia, Wasteland Weekend, or other Mad Max place?
A: Not yet, but I'd love to go someday!
Q: Tell us about a current WIP or planned project
A: “Autotomy” is my big current WIP. It’s 7 chapters into its 9 or 10 chapter run (I’ve literally got chapter 8 open in another window as I’m writing this). It follows Roop immediately after MM1 ends. He sees the aftermath of Max’s rampage, and begins to question his own ideals. Then his morals are put to the test when an unexpected guest arrives at his home. The word “autotomy” describes cutting off a part of oneself to escape a greater threat. Think of a lizard that sheds its trapped tail to avoid being eaten. I’m using it in the literal and metaphorical sense. At the end of MM1, we see someone have to make a literal life-or-limb decision. And in this story, Roop has to decide whether or not to cut off the toxic ideology that has guided his actions.
Thank you @main-force-patrol @richardcarterfans some of your tags got lost in reformatting.  You may want to retag your peeps

December Reads
Hello all! As you might be able to tell, I had a lot more fics up on the November list. I did the same amount of reading this month, but my computer restarted and all my tabs up in my incognito browser were lost before I could transfer things into this document. So, have a very short list for December, and keep an eye out for a longer one in January! Basically check out everything in the AO3 collection “Captain America Big Bang 2018 | cabigbang” because that’s what I was combing through. It’s full of wonderful fics!
Harry Potter
Drarry
Settle in in my slow-burning heart--Drarry. Draco’s working in the Auror Department as the tech guru, in partnership with Harry Potter. All of sudden, Harry starts giving him horrible souvenirs. And then he ends up wounded in Draco’s apartment. A lot of fun, and some good whump. Word Count: 10,026. https://archiveofourown.org/works/5265767#main
Un Noël très parisien--Drarry. A casual flirtation between Draco Malfoy and Auror Harry Potter develops further than perhaps either one of them intended. Interesting relationship pairings, and an adorable Scorpius! Word Count: 14,307. https://archiveofourown.org/works/2778308#main
To Love a Loathed (Arch) Enemy--Drarry. Harry gives Draco back his wand. The two of them try to figure out who they are to each other now that the war’s over. Great dialogue and bantering, with a background of the reconstruction of Hogwarts. Word Count: 11,514. https://archiveofourown.org/works/5113505#main
Party of Two--Drarry. Harry and Draco are fuck buddies, then friends with benefits, then best friends with benefits, and then something entirely new. Definitely explicit! With bewhildered but encouraging friends, and a pretty smooth relationship development. Word Count: 13,542. https://archiveofourown.org/works/321083#main
Back to You--Drarry. Harry and Draco are made to play a question-and-answer game. Somehow, it both goes exactly where you thought it would, but in a totally different way than you expect. Funny and sweet and embarrassing in equal turns. Word Count: 8,565. https://archiveofourown.org/works/12752880#main
A Choice of Wings--Drarry. “A Choice of Wings is Harry's matchmaking business for Veela who have trouble finding mates. And Draco Malfoy is his most difficult client.” A great getting together fic, with two reluctant parties finding their way into a relationship. Such a clever idea as well! Word Count: 18,738. https://archiveofourown.org/works/1352005#main
There’s No I in Team--Drarry. When Harry takes care of Draco’s son Scorpius for an hour or so, things suddenly change between the two adults, and develop quickly. Wonderful writing and lovely ending. Muggle AU. Word Count: 13,389. https://archiveofourown.org/works/7484097#main
I’ll Tell You A Secret (Just Don’t Tell)--Drarry. Harry and Draco are living a totally normal life, except their relationship--that of fiancees--is almost entirely secret. The author makes this work in a very intriguing way, especially concerning who does know, and the relationship between Harry, and Ron and Hermione. I adored the banter and dialogue in this fic--so realistic and intriguing in its absolute normalcy. An almost happy ending? Word Count: 18,331. https://archiveofourown.org/works/642847#main
Onslaught--Drarry. Podfic included alongside the fic! “Since Harry developed the unfortunate ability to smell magic, his life has been a series of scent-induced headaches…until the night he finds a mysterious wizard in a sun-scented Glamour.” Well-written, and I really enjoyed Harry’s navigation of the world around him as influenced by the scent of magic. Funny and charming. Word Count: 8,151. https://archiveofourown.org/works/1353064#main
Seeing Draco Malfoy--Drarry. Draco, owner of “Magical Repairs and Reparations”, ends up with Harry’s glasses after he’s been in a fight. Somehow, the returning of Harry’s flowers prompts a flurry of gifts from Harry, all accompanied by an in-person visit. Ignatius the owl has to be won over, but he certainly comes to approve of the match. Word Count: 12,356. https://archiveofourown.org/works/2555345#main
Antlers and Ivy--Drarry. Draco learns his soulmate is Harry Potter after the Prophet reveals Harry’s soulmark. Immediately, Draco knows what he’s always known is true, as the son of a pureblood family--he absolutely will never be allowed to marry his soulmate. But with a masquerade ball, Draco’s soulmark is revealed to Harry while Draco is glamoured, and things become much more complicated. Gorgeous art accompanies this fic! Word Count: 19,124. https://archiveofourown.org/works/14493711/chapters/33481986
Around You Moves--Drarry. Drop everything to go read this, I’m begging you. There are two very specific scenes that struck me right to the heart but I don’t want to spoil anything. Magnificently written, with careers for Draco and Harry that anyone can get behind. Strong development and characterization throughout. And yes, it’s based on that Reddit post floating around tumblr. Word Count: 29,659. https://archiveofourown.org/works/17123729#main
Harry Potter and the Bisexual Awakening--Drarry. Was I essentially won over by the dog named Snitch? Yes. Read this for excellent banter, a believable change in relationship, and an OC you’ll want to punch (just as the author meant it to be). In all honesty, I think Harry could do well as a driving instructor. Word Count: 23,185. https://archiveofourown.org/works/16977186#main
Poison Ground, Hallowed Heart--Drarry. So much smut and so much fluff. A surprising combination that actually works out well for everyone involved. I love Draco as a cursebreaker, a combination you don’t often see. Plus, a mystery in an old haunted house? I’m all here for it. Wonderfully written, with a great plot. Word Count: 26,685. https://archiveofourown.org/works/16828795/chapters/39504253
Cryptography--Drarry. Draco and Harry both solve puzzles for a living. Harry stumbles across one that’s going to take the two of them to figure out. Great development of relationship and choice of settings! Lovely intricate details mixed with a sort of soft domesticity. Word Count: 19,073. https://archiveofourown.org/works/16727838/chapters/39236100

Slowly We Unfurl--Drarry. The gang (and some) go to Norway. Draco tries to remain a recluse. Ultimately, this plan fails, and everyone is happier for it. Really wonderful, toasty fluff for you! Word Count: 13,705. https://archiveofourown.org/works/16740349#main
Ynys Afallach (I Will Give My Love An Apple)--Drarry. This is an utterly magnificent fic. Masterfully woven in terms of plot, with every detail brought to life and no loose ends left hanging. A lovely dive into a mix of magic and university, and time spent in schooling after the war. I love the original characters in this piece, and every moment truly is a revelation. Not only the dialogue, but the character’s thoughts are written convincingly and carefully. The whole thing is utterly amazing. Word Count: 42,473. https://archiveofourown.org/works/16420922#main
The Chains of Memory--Drarry. A new insightful look into Harry’s past abuse and how he deals with it in the here and now (and with Draco as his steady partner). Check the tags, but otherwise delve right into this thoughtful and often funny fic! Word Count: 14,417. https://archiveofourown.org/works/16358534#main
Other
Dragon Singer--Charlie Weasley/Harry Potter. Yes, an odd combination I’ve grown to love. And it works especially well here, with Harry as a sort of chosen, hybrid dragon creature and charlie working on the dragon reserve. Check the tags--child abuse and rape in the prologue--and be wary of some characters who are way out of character, but the story is well crafted and interesting. Word Count: 51,296. https://archiveofourown.org/works/7708432/chapters/17564821
Marvel
Stucky
No Single Riders--Stucky. Absolutely hilarious. I love Steve’s characterization in this fic, and the inclusion of all our Marvel faves is phenomenal. Excellent plot and additional fluff. Word Count: 30,991. https://archiveofourown.org/works/16152707/chapters/37741607
(me and you) and the world between--Stucky. Wow. An excellent murder mystery, not to mention wonderful plot work and an ease to managing multiple characters I can only admire. Really is the epitome of all the great things about the urban fantasy genre. Love the incorporation of different kinds of mythology. Word Count: 42,131. https://archiveofourown.org/works/16415138/chapters/38429474
10-94--Stucky. Do I know anything about street car racing? No. Was I able to enjoy this fic anyway? Hell yeah! I love Steve as the undercover cop, and his reveal is so satisfying. Meanwhile, Bucky is simultaneously grumpy and loveable. Plus, the howling commandos! Word Count: 38,817. https://archiveofourown.org/works/16496810/chapters/38636426
Merlin
Merthur
Gadarene--Merthur. Honestly I’m just going to direct you right to the summary on AO3 because I adore it so much--and if that doesn’t tell you how much I enjoyed this fic, nothing will. Arthur’s characterization is just *mwah* and the plot is brilliant. Word Count: 76,831. https://archiveofourown.org/series/17492
There Are No Gays in Football--Merthur. Probably every Merlin fan worthy of their salt has read this one, but look, it’s okay to be late to the party! Often, I find fics that paint Arthur as a boor, unworthy of redemption while redeeming him anyway. This one does not. Both Merlin and Arthur are delightfully 3D characters, with wonderful banter between them and their other, multifaceted friends. Every moment and detail is fleshed out, and even if you don’t know a thing about soccer--uh, football--you can still enjoy this fic with as much anticipation and delight as I did. Word Count: 212,919. https://archiveofourown.org/works/730238/chapters/1356591
Other Fandoms Entirely
So If You Give--Bond/Q.The first Bond/Q fic I’ve read in a while, and one of very few I’ve read! Excellent characterization and dialogue, with a lot of lovely details. Bond keeps giving Q souvenirs (half the fun is their horribleness) and Q’s not quite sure what to do. Word Count: 6,188. https://archiveofourown.org/works/642482#main
I Howl and I Whine--Zimbits. Sweet and fluffy, with lovely characterizations and great friendships. Jack and Bitty are both absolutely adorable, and while the plot’s pretty simple, the story’s engaging. We love a happy ending! Word Count: 19,784. https://archiveofourown.org/works/16662291/chapters/39069845

Ten favorite character thing again.
So, a while back after being tagged by Feadae, I did my best to list ten of my favorite characters from ten separate fandoms. That time I did male characters since that was what was being done. Everyone else had apparently already done Female characters, but I had not. This will likely be equally as dificult as thinking up ten favorite male characters from ten different fandoms. Thank goodness for it being in no particular order. 1). Rose Dyson from the Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica This should surprise no one. At least, not fellow Scowlers seeing how often I seem to talk about Rose. She’s great. She’s kind, courageous, definitely not afraid to threaten that jack ass Dee. There’s her kindness in wanting to try and save Hank Morgan. Her desperation to save Professor Sigurdson. However, I think one of my favorite scenes with Rose is her confrontation with Shakespeare. I think it’s because it vaguely reminds me of one of my favorite scenes in Shakespeare’s cannon. Act 3 Scene 1, the interaction between the Heroine Viola/Cesario, and Feste the Fool. In this scene the two stand as equals going back and forth matching wits. Not battling, merely bantering like friends. It’s a wonderful scene and any cuts to it is a mark against a production (or film adaptation. Looking at you Trevor Nunn). Now with Rose and Shakespeare, they aren’t equals in Wit, but they reach equal footing regarding responsibility, meeting expectations, and the ever looming fear that is DISAPPOINTING PEOPLE. Add to that she can be quite humorous, and Rose is simply wonderful. 2). Holo, the Wise Wolf from Spice and Wolf (I forget the author’s name right now). Oh would you look at that? One of the best characters from my favorite anime ended up on this list. How weird. In seriousness Holo is awesome. Her banter with Lawrence is one of the highlights of the show, a matching of wits with the occasional bout of one upping and witty wrestling. But yeah, Funny, witty, clever, Wise (she earns her epitaph at times). Though not without her flaws, such as arrogance, pride, Jealousy, and some gluttony concerning Apples. If you haven’t seen or read Spice and Wolf, I highly recommend you do so. I got two people who generally detest anime to enjoy it (amusingly enough, for the economics. Which are quite enjoyable oddly enough). Beatrice from Much ado about Nothing. Had to include someone from Shakespeare. I struggled over going with Viola, Beatrice, or Rosalind, but decided on Beatrice. Again, witty and sharper than any blade. Not too mention how supportive and caring she is toward her cousin Hero. Also, like Holo and Lawrence, her banter and tongue sparrings with Benedick are one of the best parts of the whole play. There is also the excellent adaptation where Beatrice is portrayed by the amazing Emma Thompson. 4). Granny Weatherwax from the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett It was a tough pick between Granny or Magrat Garlick. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure why I chose her over Magrat. Perhaps it’s how she is so sure about herself and things in general that I admire. Also her great mental fortitude, and her occasional moments of deceptive trickery (Cripple Mr Onion in Witches Abroad). 5). Evelyn from the Ranger’s Apprentice by John Flanagan. I don’t know how to talk about Evelyn without delving into Spoilers. Also it’s been a while since I’ve read the books. Suffice to say, she’s a life saver and just plain awesome. 6) Eostra The Eagle Owl Mage, from The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michele Paver. I should have at least one villain on this list. 7). Saber (aka Arturia Pendragon) from the Fate Franchise. I have a few problems with the Fate Franchise. Mostly some idiotic Character designs. But Saber? Saber’s is fine. She has a nice arc, plenty of good moments of awesome and is overall a fun character. At least, in the two thing I’ve seen with her in it (Fate Zero and Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works Respectively). 8) Eowyn (is that the right spelling?) from Lord of the Rings. “I am no Man”. What more is there to say. 9) Lester (I cannot for the life of me remember her last name) from All Hallows’ Eve by Charles Williams. Debated of going with Lester or Damaris from The Place of the Lion. They both (from what I recall) go through the process of realizing they are (or were) a Jerk and work to not be Jerks. I think I prefer Lester’s mostly because I understood what was happening in her book more than in Damaris’. 10). Scheherazade from Arabian Nights. Kudos to one of the best storytellers in fiction. Ultimate Kudos to Scheherazade and her one thousand and one nights. Each with their own tales which contained tales within tales and so on. Just amazing. So there’s that. Don’t know who to tag. Make of this what you will.

Wait a minute....you cannot possibly be doing another tag!! ;) :P
I did not go looking on the internet for these anime questions, I swear!! :P  I still have loads more questions that I want to answer, but I’m going to start with these 11 questions!
1. Who are your favourite male anime characters?
Okay…..this question is really tough….as there are just too many husbandos to choose from!! ;) I’m going to pick five male characters…..that’s allowed, right??!! ^^’
a). Osamu Dazai (Bungou Stray Dogs)- On the surface, he comes across as a big dork, who is a suicidal maniac!! However, Dazai as a character is far more than just that, as he proves to be a kind-hearted person, who takes in an orphan (Atsushi Nakajima) without a seconds thought and nurtures him into becoming a fully fledged member of the armed detective agency. He also instills in him confidence and a feeling of self-worth. Dazai is also really intelligent and can instantly deduce his opponent’s next move, meanwhile remaining calm and in control! His features are striking….as he is tall, has brown hair and brown eyes….I mean he’s just PERFECT!! :P ;)
b). Sakata Gintoki (Gintama)- Gintoki is just one of those characters who will forever make me laugh! <3 I mean, I could be having the worst day EVER, however, Gintoki will somehow find a way to make me laugh…and seriously what could be better than that! :D Initially, he may come across as lazy and self-centred, but I can tell you that this couldn’t be further from the truth! Gintoki would literally do anything for both Kagura and Shinpachi! I actually just finished watching an episode, where he helped his friend Hasegawa (which was hilarious….by the way!!). In reality, he actually values friendship higher than anything else and that’s a beautiful trait for anyone to possess!
c). Okita Sougo (Gintama)- The self-proclaimed masochist is HOT….which is his only good trait…..I’m only joking!! :P Okita is another great character because like Gintoki he’s really funny. If you’ve seen the Mitsuba arc….minor spoiler….you will understand how much of a loving brother he is towards his sister, which was both one of the most beautiful and one of the most saddest things to watch!! T.T <3
d). Hijiktata Toushirou (Gintama)- Like Okita, Hjikata is also a member of the Shinsengumi (…..and he is also really good looking….I’m just saying! :P)! Once again, I’m going to refer you to the Mitsuba arc because that truly shows how great of a guy Hijikata actually is! <33333 I mean…..I dare you to watch that arc and not cry…..!! T.T
e). Yuuri Katsuki (Yuri on Ice)- I identify with this guy so much, he is literally the male version of me….lol! All the ups and downs that he experiences through ice-skating are somewhat similar to the ones that I’ve experienced in my life…..expect for the fact that mine are in no way ice-skating related, as I’m a terrible ice-skater….lol!! :P He is definitely one of the most relatable characters that I’ve ever come across…..and that makes me love him all the more! <3
I’m sorry for picking three Gintama characters, but I’m currently in Gintama hell…….which is actually not a bad place to find yourself in!! ^^’ :P
2. Who are your favourite female characters?
a). Megumi Tadokoro (Shokugeki no Souma)- I love her…..because she’s basically ME…..except for the fact that she can cook…and sadly I can’t!! T.T </3 The self-confidence issues that she experiences are somewhat similar to my own, however, like her, I’ve also learned to push past them and come out the other side! She’s actually sort of an inspiration to me (not to sound too cheesy) but I often found myself saying…if she can overcome her nervousness then so can I!!
b). Kagura (Gintama)- Kagura is feisty and will always do things her own way, which once again I can relate to! She doesn’t care what others think of her and rightly so, it’s pointless caring about what others think…just be yourself!! :) However, deep down she is also a caring person, who loves both Gintoki and Shinpachi as if they were her brothers!
3. If you could meet an anime character who would it be?
I would actually like to meet Mikoto Mikoshiba from Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun! We could talk about anime figures (which is one of my most favourite things to talk about…hahaha), we could game and even draw manga together! He would also be such a cool person to just talk to!
I decided this time to not go for another Gintama character!! :P
4. What is your favourite thing about anime?
Hmmmmmmmm….I’d probably say that anime has allowed me to pursue my other hobbies and interests….ones which I never really knew I had! Recently, I bought a camera so I could get into Nendoroid photography and I actually realised that I love taking photos of my nendoroids depicting the beauty of our natural landscape! I’ve also started to cross-stitch again, which I haven’t really done in over a year! I even made my own pattern of Midoriya Izuku from ‘Boku no Hero Academia’……which I still have to start!! I’ve always been a collector of ’stuff’ since I was a child, so therefore, it was only natural for me to start collecting anime figures, I love this hobby! The only drawback being that it’s super expensive and super addictive….eeeekkkkk!! I’ve also recently delved into the world of cosplay and it’s a lot of fun too! Drawing has been a passion of mine….since forever and I love nothing more than to draw my favourite characters! <3 Therefore, it allows me to explore my creative side! I also love learning about other cultures and anime has definitely made me want to learn more about Japan. I’m also in the process of learning Japanese, which is probably something I never would have done without anime in my life! I’m also currently writing some fanfiction! It was always my dream to write a novel and I wrote many books when I was younger, so anime has definitely reignited my desire to write again! ^^’ Last but certainly not least, it has allowed me to meet new and interesting people…both in real life and online…and that’s just a wonderful thing in itself, as it’s nice to talk to people from all around the world!
5. What is your least favourite thing about anime?
It’s probably the over obsessive fans…who call people out over a little mistake that they may have made, it’s just so petty!! I also dislike when people turn savage over an opinion that you may hold……just because it’s not in line with their own personal beliefs on the subject matter!
6. Who are your favourite anime couple?
That’s the easiest question EVER……..Yuuri Katsuki and Viktor Nikiforov (Yuri on Ice)…..they’re just soooooooooo CUTE together…..need I say anymore! <3 :P ;)
7. Who are your favourite anime animals?
I really like Keroberos (Cardcaptor Sakura), Sadaharu (Gintama), Makkachin (Yuri on Ice)….and are Pokemon animals?? Well, if they are….I LOVE them too! <3
8. What’s your favourite type of anime?
I really love anime that have amazing action scenes, a little bit of romance (although….I normally like the romance not to be the central aspect of the anime) and for there to be good humour sprinkled throughout every episode! However, I also love nothing more than an anime to adopt a really serious tone too! I actually think all of these characteristics are found in shounen anime, so I really like this genre a lot!
9. What anime would make a good game?
I actually think that Hunter x Hunter would make an excellent game, as that anime moves from one adventure to another adventure with seamless ease! I mean one minute you could be trying to collect all of the cards on Greed Island and in the next minute…you could be battling against powerful ants, who seek to destroy human life! :O
10. What was the first anime you ever watched?
It was Pokemon! :D
11. Do you think you’ll ever stop watching anime?
Definitely not!! I love watching anime, I love how there are so many different genres of anime to choose from, therefore, you can literally never be bored! My day never goes by without me thinking of anime, I’m a really sad person…..!! :P :D
I tag @akatsuki3519 and @yuratchkaplisetskys!! If you don’t want to do them……then that’s perfectly fine! :D ;) Also, if you do want to do them…..then there’s definitely no rush…please…take your time!! :D ;)
Also, if anybody else wants to do these questions…..feel free to do so! I would love to see your answers, so don’t forget to tag me…! ;) :D
