i think the best bit of worldbuilding by far in the mass effect trilogy is the lore that went into the quarians. from the beginning, you're immersed in their culture and their customs. tali's only dialogue in the first game is her talking about her people, and even in the other two games it doesn't extend too far outside of that. and for good reason. you get an in-depth look into their economy, their way of life, their religion. you learn about their creation of the geth and their subsequent exile from the galaxy. you visit the quarian fleet far before you visit other homeworlds, and even when you do they're burning to the ground. the quarians are uniquely flushed out in a way that asks you to keep digging, keep learning about a culture.
and then there's kal'reegar, from galveston, texas. he only smokes camels and drinks bud light. his hobbies include lawn care, smoking meats, and watching that son of a gun dak prescott lead the cowboys to the superbowl.
#you can tell who's american by how much they love kal'reegar#i love you kal'reegar#i would play entire games just of you#i would romance you in a heartbeat#keep on trucking kal'reegar. roll tide.

I've been wookiepedia diving and it's given me a new appreciation for all the niche lore you put in your fics – recognising Tython from heartstill and Mandalore the Indomitable from wild wings has been very fun, and it's all given me more of an appreciation for how interesting your usage and adaptation of all the weird legends stuff really is. 😊
Legends is so much fun!!! Tbh it's one of the biggest reasons the SW fandom has kept my attention for so long - there's just so much that you can dig into and pull from, and all of it is absolutely fascinating. I've been reading a bunch of the older Legends books and comics, and even the most offhand little bits of knowledge and worldbuilding are stuff you could really write 30 fics digging into. I love it. Candy for my brain.

Hihi I binged the public episodes in two sittings and now it's taken over my mind. Your writing is gorgeous and vivid and I loved reading the codex bits whenever they were unlocked. The flavour text is wonderful— gasped when the half-aeda convo came up at the gala and my thoughtless crest choice had some lore to it. I loved how your choices matter, even if it's just for flavour. The story is really immersive and responsive to your actions :D
The randomised element of skill checks always gave me a thrill whenever I chose to click one of them. But it's like "whatever happens, happens". I played through the two eps without save scumming and resulted in my MC crying over fighting with Aeran which is 💀 but I'll roll with this save lmaoo I Will Handle The Consequences. The timed choices were really good for immersion because I never knew when one of them was gonna pop up and I had to react based on my/MC's instinct. Nearly moved by accident when MC was supposed to distract the Crimson Count which felt very real to the tense situation.
I was so, so happy to have the option to take your mentor's last name— I struggled with naming the character so I went with a "whatever" last name and was immensely relieved I could choose something my MC felt a connection to. (My MC has a city origin so she was equally happy to ditch that name) Felt so proud to hear characters calling MC with the mentor's last name. Honestly one of my favourite features so far. (I had Cenric btw— choose to sit next to him because I was impressed by him fighting so hard for the kids, hope he's alright 🥺)
Aeran is such an interesting character and (un)fortunately he has a chokehold on me. I was genuinely devastated when my MC and him had a fight and kept losing points without reconciling that I went back and got MC stabbed for the romance route 😭 to me it feels like a constant tug and pull with my MC trying to be diplomatic/understanding/uncovering his backstory and him being aggravated and guarded. Like he fulfills the role of being the MC's closest partner but he's obviously hiding Things. It's a fresh take on the "starting companion/childhood friend" because it feels like you can both trust and distrust him depending on the MC and what he says. I've been scrolling through your blog and it's very fun seeing what people think of him.
I think this is a really interesting premise because a lot of fantasy stories highlight how strong and special the MC is, but the MC here is "special" precisely because of their lack of magic. And how that gives them unique advantages. Being hit by the whammy of losing the Spire in the first chapter made me go ;-; I was relieved that we got to travel with Aeran lol and didn't lose him as well ;-; (I was half convinced he was going to show up mid-game as like an Enemy or a backstabber)
Adore the intricate worldbuilding and maps, this is a super ambitious project and I'm really impressed by how well and natural the story flowed! I'm super invested in this now. Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into this and I look forward to ch3! 🙏🙏🙏
(Also these are just my rambly thoughts after the playthrough because I have to get them out of my head, you don't have to answer this ask)
Oh gosh thank you so much, this is so kind of you!! 💕

an interesting conclusion for today: the footnotes from my writing note for today
little to no context but i think this is very interesting. also. 6 is amusing me. love leaving it at that. the only bit of context is that i chose the prompt "augury" off a list that i will not be following (im basically just picking a random prompt at the start of the day from whatever list i see fit) and ran with it
#haunted ecosystem#haunted bookshelf#au: seraphim#<- for the bits of worldbuilding and lore#i might start sharing my footnotes of the day as a way of kind of holding myself To actually writing and documenting my research i do#random bits of worldbuilding that will never ever come up but i think about them anyway :)#GOODNIGHT TUMBLR i am a sleevjy lil guy who is going to go snooze now#this note ended up being like genuinely 1.4k words of my Thoughts#including some concepts that normally wouldnt leave my pacing daydreams but i was feeling silly

hii i'm so fascinated with the anthro dog worldbuilding and had a question about it !!! if domesticated canines exist in the world, do undomesticated canines (wolves, foxes, coyotes, maned wolves, etc) also exist? if so, what role do they play in society? ^_^
Domestic dogs are the only anthropomorphic species, they exist in place of humans.
Wild canines exist, but they're just regular wolves, foxes, coyotes and so on. Anthro dogs view them the same way humans view apes and other primates. They recognize that wolves are superficially similar to them in some uncanny ways, but have no gualms about hunting them. To a dog living in the pre-Darwin era, a wolf isn't a distant relative, it's a wild beast that will eat their livestock.
Actual pet dogs are entirely absent.
Other domesticated animals exist as normal. Anthro dogs keep cats as pets, raise chickens and ride horses.
#answered#anonymous#Vaschete lore#whenever there's anthro worldbuilding going on you have to be prepared to suspend your disbelief a little bit#it's fantasy it won't make perfect sense 100% of the time#but I feel like replacing people with dogs and leaving everything else untouched is a fairly easy thing to digest though#dogs are a manmade creation they don't exist in nature they don't play an irreplaceable part in any food chain#so furrifying them doesn't affect the balance of ecosystems around them#plus they're highly social omnivorous mammals just like us so they slot into the template of human society pretty effortlessly I think

I missed drawing for my old WIR AU, so I came back to it for a bit!! Exploring the lore and the characters is just as fun as I remember it being.
Mini summary of the character lores and random tidbits under cut to remind myself, because I forgot everything :) I might revamp some of the lore as well.
The Turbo twins just barely managed to escape being unplugged along with their game after Turbo game jumped years ago. They survived, but homelessness for a game sprite is dangerous, since it implies a lack of protective anti-virus barrier their consoles would typically have offered them. The twins' raw codes were now completely exposed to external errant bugs, viruses, and other malware, which could prove to be fatal. So, they were stuck going around stations picking up odd jobs and services in exchange for temporary shelter in other games' consoles. But because of Turbo's actions and his disappearance, the twins' reputations were forced to take the full brunt of the arcade's backlash and scrutiny. This ruined their chances at a permanent home, not to mention the fact that letting an outsider stay too long in your game was considered very taboo at the time (especially with the whole game jumping scandal). Thus, they were stuck hopping from one game to another, never staying for longer than a few days at most.
- Felix and the Turbo trio knew each other before the Turbo incident :) He and the twins are still in contact after the incident, and he sometimes lets them stay in his game.
- Felix' in-game story is pretty much the same as Ralph's. There's still the stump, except that in the beginning of the game it's actually a full tree that Felix and his father used to care for before the latter died. The animation shows the bulldozer knocking it town to a stump to make space for Niceland, which basically is the whole opening of the game where Felix gets mad and wrecks the building, blah blah blah, you know the rest :)
- Felix used to be mistaken as the hero of his game a lot since he looked so small and unassuming. It annoyed him to no ends, because he despises having to talk to strangers.
#I know literally no one reads long posts with a lot of text but this is just for me!! <3#I still haven't figured out how Ralph & Felix' game is going to be called because nothing alliterates with Ralph that also means “fix#I considered Repairman Ralph but that's a bit of a mouthfull#Anywho!! had a lot of fun drawing this- love making the lore#my art#wreck it ralph au#wreck it ralph#turbo wreck it ralph#turbotastic#fix it felix#fix it felix jr#wir au#wir#turbo wir#turbo twins#turbotime#turbo#HOW MANY TAGS DOES THIS MAN HAVE- HOLY FUCK#au lore#worldbuilding#I love worldbuilding- all my homies love worldbuilding

The Light Chikens (aka Enses)

As much as I liked Jeathiel's design, I feel like I hadn't a strong idea of how enses look in general
So I decided to draw some random ones to explore their shapes and colors
I also added some important information that I will elaborate on now:
Enses society exhibits a unique blend of matriarchy and patriarchy.
This is because of the rarity of female enses, which granted them significant power and influence within the social hierarchy. Despite their important roles, these women are still expected to adhere to traditional expectations.
In their family structure, each unit consists of a mother and several fathers, typically ranging from 2-5 males for each female. While the mothers are primarily responsible for childbearing, they are not obligated to take on the role of the primary caregiver, a responsibility often managed by one or two of the men in the unit.
The Mamhiel is like a Queen to the enses, she is believed to be closely connected to their God and her word is "almost" a command. Unlike traditional monarchs, her husbands do not hold the title of King and their influence dissipates with her death. Only her children keep their status.
Choruses and compositors are subcategories of enses born with specific innate powers. A chorus is identified by a birthmark on their neck and chest and uses their voice to perform various tasks. In contrast, a compositor can create objects using their light.
For a better view at the drawing;

remember null? well after lore progression and violence he regained his true self now
say hi to narrow (or, nicknamed by hana, anguria which means watermelon in italian)
lore rambling in the tags because i'm not assed to write it here
#tenka willow#my sona#oc:narrow#my ocs#my art#i never said it here cus i have null's lore only written in my art fight but in VERY short words#null was basically a chimera made by anemone out of the cast-away guardian Narrow and willow#whose purpose was to eradicate a whole species in the realm whom both willow and anemone despise#anemone inserted a chip into null's body so that he ONLY focused on eradicating that species#because it was the destiny himawari gave to willow. even tho that was basically genocide#so hana and a few others worked together to try to beat anemone's ass (and failed)#however anemone told them the placement of the chip after his ass being kicked a bit#then after that they beat null's ass. and got the chip out. and he regained his true self. YAY!!!!!!!!!#now they're probably gonna be on a quest to find narrow's actual body.............#which is cast away for thousands of years in another planet#being dormant. for so long. so basically narrow is an old man#his actual form is supposed to be a salamander-fish thing i guess#anyways um this is explained very briefly and vague if you have more questions do ask#i literally don't post about lore shit here ever 😭😭i have so much worldbuilding i didn't tell anyone but my brother

People with Toj.i loving (or even Get.o loving tbh) usernames liking my JJK posts is always kinda baffling. They make me check my tags on the posts they liked because either I wasn't clear about how much I abhor that man in them or they are very open to criticism about their fave character/the character they have the hots for
#I actually love the latter kind of people#Often they make the best people to have discussions about and they often make you see things in new perspectives#or better appreciate the character or the overall narrative/their place in it. Leigh my beloved ♥#I do think Toji is well written and he fulfills well his role in the story. I just don't like him personally. Scumbag of a man#With Ge.to I have more problems. I don't think he's well written. He's frustratingly bad written at times#Childish levels of bad written. 'How did no one question this' levels of frustrating#'Could Gege have made a swift mention to this at least to cover his ass a bit' levels of bad#The part with Satoru is good though but because Satoru is well written. He does the job#I talk too much#I should probably delete this later#Still thinking of the fact Toj.i was up to kill one kid add two for the price of one and maybe an adult all while enjoying the process#for virtually some cash money so to speak#Couldn't even get a cheap flat in Tokyo with that amount of money#Around ten of Gojo's shirts#Which is also a problem but he isn't killing teenagers for those shirts#<- that's up for discussion given the question about humanity and I do think he's awful to curses and etc etc#which is all a super interesting bit of lore and worldbuilding and a very intriguing discussion#but you know let me keep it simple lol

your worldbuilding for your dreamingverse au is so good i wish i knew everything about the world you're making. i genuinely could read about it for HOURS
Oh that is so sweet! @solar-cycle And who am I to deny your curiosity (I certainly am happy to rant about Dreamingverse)!
MINECRAFT SPECULATIVE LORE?
(Sorry about the lack of image, I was too excited to post and didn’t have any ideas jump out at me for what to draw… next post maybe lol)
Here’s the fundamentals of the Dreamingverse au:
There was, once, two universes. The first, the one you might be able to imagine, was made of matter, of time and space, and was inhabited by advanced civilizations. The other was pure sapience, a sprawling neuronic network that dreamed in its own pathways. They call it the End Before the Beginning, the cataclysmic collision of universes that split and fragmented and recrystallized into a single many faceted prism. And in the wake of this cataclysm, the civilizations of before collapsed. It wasn’t an immediate thing, but a slow implosion driven out of fear and competition over resources. How were people not meant to be afraid, when the dead were suddenly granted a second waking and the world they knew was ripped apart at the seams? When beings born of pure thought, the manifestations of Death, Destruction, and Oblivion were made to walk among them? Humanity’s downfall was eventually to war and its own nuclear power, and thus began the era of oblivion.
The era of oblivion was marked by the absence of life and the settling of the earth. The newly reborn [universe] was irradiated and barren, made of fractured pockets of tribes and civilizations relearning how to live in their world, now hanging on to their lives with white knuckles. If nothing else, this extreme of living incentivized the rapid evolution of genetics, leading to offshoot species in the descendant of humanity, Piglins, Witches, Endr, and more, among them. These offshoots are widely known as “Hybrids” granted by the universe the qualities of species better suited to their extreme environments.
It is then the Era of Growth and Decay. The plants, as with the undead, are given a sentience of their own, mutated and lively, they are the first to begin recovering from the End, and with them, the deities of these concepts too. Among these plants, Creepers, long, slow-moving creatures of explosive spores, Sculk, Mycelium, Glares, and the Nylium of the Neth.
And in the wake of the plants, the Era of Beasts follow, where animals and their corresponding deities begin to grow bold and awake.
Following at last is the rebirth of civilization. It’s the Neath that takes off first, the early bastions of the Piglin gathering culture and resource in order to begin exploring and inventing, the overworld soon following. And here also, is where the Creators truly emerge. They had existed before in some capacity, sapient beings woven more deeply into the fabric of the universe, able to catch the flitting dreams of the universe and spin it into their own make. Beings with the ability to Construct and Destroy at a scale no Animate could match even with a lifetime of magical and alchemic training. They were revered and despised in often equal measures.
—
Which brings us to the basics of Sapient classifications. To be clear, these lines are not hard or certain, but rather a general categorization.
There are the Animates of course: NPCs essentially (though that feels dismissive) the bulk of the population, living limited lifespans and with little access to magics.
These rest are Creators, broadly speaking:
…
The so called “Players,” generally the children of other Creators, of Animates, or Animates themselves given the powers of Construction and Destruction later in life in one way or another. They tend to be more humanoid, and generally include undead Creators. For along time, they were really the only group of Creator easily accepted by the general population as they were less ‘other.’
Then there are the Fae: objects, plants, or animals that are given the gifts of the universe and higher consciousness alongside it.
And then the Constructs: Places awakened and given thought and the capacity to change and move. Often considered god-like in their own right.
And the Deities. Gods sometimes. Beings made of pure thought, concepts personified.
—
Civilization marched onwards, and Creators did not often die. Empires rose, fell, rose again, and over the course of many great wars and eras of peace —from the War With Heaven, to the Rapture of Empires, to Antarctic’s Conquest— the Universe slowly settled into its Dream and its people into their own.
Ask me about:
- the structure of the universe and the layout of its dimensions…
- Mechanics, this may be bundled in with the structural stuff…
- Character, lore, and series head-cannons (I may or may not have them yet!)
- The Deities
- The Remnants 0.0
- Anything really, maybe I’ll do some art :3
#dreamingverse au#Azzay rambles#minecraft lore#Minecraft#speculative worldbuilding#worldbuilding#I already wrote this on the post but please please feel free to bother me about characters or more lore bits#it’s really cool seeing people be interested in this au. it comes from a place so close to my heart#this game has really left such a mark on me and I want to infuse the au with that feeling of half-forgotten dreams and nostalgia#and slight existentialism

My Soul Headcanons
There are two types of souls: Human and Monster. A Human soul is a thousand times more powerful than a Monster soul due to their naturally occuring determination. Monsters tend to be more in touch with magic as their forms are almost entirely composed of it but most Humans are able to learn how to use magic as well.
Monster souls are much different and almost never manifest a distinct trait like Humans do. It is said that Monster souls are made of love, hope, and magic. Generally, they are white and look like an upside down heart but their appearance can change if the Monster has accumulated LV.
While it is most apparent in Monsters, a soul that has accumulated too much LV becomes unstable and tends to "leak" excess magic. There doesn't seem to be a specific pattern for what a soul with high LV looks like since every soul is different. The colour and shape could change, it may appear "corrupted" from the inside, it may have a visible aura, etc. Because the soul is the culmination of one's being, an unstable soul often means an unstable individual, which leads to its own problems and makes it difficult to study.
A Human soul looks like a heart and can come in many different colours depending on their trait(s). There are seven documented Human soul traits and multiple variations of them as well. Generally, a Human will have a Primary, or dominant, trait and at least one Secondary trait. However this isn't the rule and occasionally there are Humans with only one Primary trait. They tend to be extremely powerful and many great leaders are believed to only have one trait. It's possible to have more than one Secondary trait but this is also rare.
The Primary & Secondary traits:
Determination: The drive to stick with a task or goal until a desired outcome is reached. This is an incredibly rare Primary trait to the extent that many believe there is only ever one soul with this trait at a time. Souls with this trait are bright red.
Ambition: The desire to achieve success. This is a common Secondary trait and is usually a purplish red.
Devotion: The compulsion to show deep commitment to something or someone. This is an uncommon Secondary trait and is usually is a pinkish red.
Bravery: The strength to remain bold in the face of resistance. This is a common Primary trait and most people can testify to knowing others who possess it. Souls with this trait are bright orange.
Fortitude: The mental or emotional strength to face adversity. This is a common Secondary trait and is usually a bronze colour.
Assurance: The ability to inspire confidence in others. This is an uncommon Secondary trait and is usually a soft orange.
Justice: The desire to treat everyone fairly and right wrongs. This is an uncommon Primary trait with many possessing it taking on important roles in society. Souls with this trait are a bright yellow.
Equity: The capacity to treat everyone fairly regardless of circumstances. This is a common Secondary trait and is usually a creamy yellow colour.
Sincerity: The ability to be genuine in one's actions and words. This is an uncommon Secondary trait and is usually a greenish yellow colour.
Kindness: The compulsion to help others whether they deserve it or not. This is a common Primary trait and most of the time there will be at least one in the room possessing it. Souls with this trait are bright green.
Empathy: The capacity to understand another person's feelings or emotions. This is an uncommon Secondary trait and is usually a teal colour.
Generosity: The willingness to give or share with others. This is a common Secondary trait and is usually a light green colour.
Patience: The ability to stay calm and think things through before making a decision. This is a common Primary trait although those possessing it may not stand out from the crowd so easily. Souls with this trait are cyan.
Endurance: The capacity to withstand hardship. This is a common Secondary trait and is usually a purplish blue.
Diligence: The wherewithal to carefully complete a task no matter how long it takes. This is an uncommon Secondary trait and is usually a soft blue.
Integrity: The willingness to stand for what one believes is morally right. This is an uncommon Primary trait but those who possess it tend to be well respected for their stances. Souls with this trait are dark blue.
Honesty: The desire to be honest whenever possible in life. This is a common Secondary trait and is usually a navy blue.
Loyalty: The ability to be faithful to commitments or a cause. This is an uncommon Secondary trait and is usually a grayish blue.
Perseverance: The stubbornness to stand strong in the face of adversity. This is a common Primary trait and is sometimes mistaken for Determination in those who possess it. Souls with this trait are bright purple.
Tenacity: The ability to relentlessly achieve one's goals. This is an uncommon Secondary trait and is usually a magenta colour.
Obstinance: The stubborn refusal to change an opinion or behavior. This is a common Secondary trait and is usually a soft purple.
There are also dark traits, although they are rare, and to be born with one is unheard of. They tend to be Primary traits but could be Secondary as well. Humans with dark traits have usually gone through hardships and changed as a result. These traits aren't necessarily evil but those possessing them may struggle to do the same good deeds as they could before. (This was inspired by listening to Vetrom on YouTube and I highly recommend their music, especially their Soul themes.)
Despair: The loss of hope or to be without hope. Souls with this trait are usually dull purple.
Fear: The lack of bravery or a response to danger. Souls with this trait are usually dark orange.
Vengeance: The act of repaying injustice with revenge. Souls with this trait are dark red.
Hate: The inability to show love or show kindness to another. Souls with this trait are usually black.
Apathy: The lack of emotion or motivation to accomplish something. Souls with this trait are usually gray.
Most of the time, Humans get their soul colour from their Primary trait but the Secondary trait can also contribute. Sometimes this looks like both colours combined, sometimes the colours don't mix together, sometimes only a small part of the soul has one colour, and sometimes only one colour is ever visible.
Soul traits can be passed from parent to child similar to how genes are passed along. Primary traits are more likely to get passed to the child over Secondary traits. Souls can also affect the child's appearance. For example, a person with only one Primary trait will likely have a matching eye and soul colour. This isn't limited to eye colour but is the most prevalent as the eyes are windows to the soul.
While rare in most universes, Humans and Monsters do have children together, which can lead to interesting results. Such unions rely heavily on magic and the child is almost always carried in one of the parent's souls until they are strong enough to separate on their own. (See my Monster Courting/Heats headcanon for more info.)
The hybrid child can take after either or both parents and their appearance can vary wildly depending on which is the case. The same is true for their soul. Most of the time, they will have either a Human or Monster soul but in rare cases, they could have one that is a combination of the two. In this instance, the soul could be shaped like a Human or a Monster soul and either have traits or none at all.

some silly about basilisk eggs
basically all this bs is because basilisks have a long ass development time but still want to raise their young starting with the Nice Seasons.
as it says in the thing, the egg is actually surprisingly packed with the building blocks and nutrients when it is laid, and requires little actual energy investment by the male to sustain it during his period of sole incubation. the female will after conception have hugeeee cravings and basically gorge herself on food in a short amount of time, a lot of that going into the egg. some females may even prepare before conception if they are planning to have eggs that year even earlier. after laying the egg she needs time to recover but with the male being responsible for safekeeping of the egg, she has more time to.
the males are also smaller and more agile, which makes him a better fit for carrying around the egg in a pouch in case of a threat.
if not for this convoluted little thing theyd have to brood on the egg for like almost a year which isnt very Convenient.
there are certain traditions among many basilisk cultures surroudning eggs and stuff seeing as they only lay eggs during the season, and also the eggs differ so drastically when theyre fertile vs not (which probably evolved to ensure they dont waste time trying to incubate a failed egg)
one tradition among the kraksi, which is a smaller and tight knit basilisk community, is for all females who lay unfertile eggs to gift them to females that have laid fertile eggs during an annual little get together to celebrate successful layings if they have happened, or just general celebration/wishes of fertility in the future if they havent happened (in the latter case, everyone just sort of eats eachothers eggs together lol). the eggs are eaten with a big feast intended to help the recently having laid females recuperate, and also prepare their partners for their duty of safekeeping the egg until the cooperative incubation.
oh also when it is time to "lay" the egg for the male, the egg "cord" shuts itself off from the male and "dies" and falls off!

Light Man and BoyFailure

I had a little story in mind for a while, a simple one honestly. Just to explore the dynamics of lower-class devels and a bit of enses'.
Jeathiel is temporarily exiled only for 1000 years and had the incredible luck to fall straight into a develish territory... without powers
Zamarm found him and they are now both in deep trouble, all thanks to Zamarm who has a lot of enemies because he is an asshole. Jeathiel is a target by default just by being an ens
They're gonna have fun <3
Bit of Info dump Lore
Enses are a species of light creatures that homins(Lureed's humans) keep calling angels, despite them not sending messages anywhere like the meaning of the word angel* would suggests.
*Angel comes from the Greek "Angelos" which means messenger.
They emit a soft light, like yellow guy here, and are covered in feathers. They can connect with each other mentally and have a strict hierarchical system. Devels, in contrast, absorb light and don't have feathers. They usually fight between themselves and other species a lot, enses in particular. They are really mean... like A LOT (not by nature btw)
