You know, I feel sad for Nino. Out of the main cast, he seems to be the most underdeveloped. We barely know about his life, his family home...

All I know about his family is that he has a younger brother and a mother. I don't even know his mother's face, what she does, if she has a partner or if Nino's bio father is even in the picture.

All we got is the basics on Nino, but even those are poor. He's essentially just there to play a role or fill a space.

Isn't the transformation phrase just an English dub exclusive?

Yes, it is, but the French dub making it so "Transform me!" is all you need to say to transform only raises even more questions.

With the English dub, you can at least assume that saying something like "Blots On!" is a different activation code from "Spots On!"

How the hell does the Miraculous allow you to be evil if you say the same thing to transform as everyone else? What constitutes as being evil that the Miraculous turns off the power limiter? It can't just be acting selfishly, as Ladybug and Cat Noir have done things that have hurt or endangered people several times in the past (The Bubbler, Santa Claws, Sentibubbler, Glaciator 2, Hack-San, Jubilation, Derision).

And don't forget the two obvious outliers, Chloe and Felix. They both used their Miraculous selfishly with the specific intent to hurt people (Queen Wasp, Miracle Queen, Strikeback, Emotion), yet they never triggered the evil mode either.

As dumb as it is, the English dub introducing different transformation phrases for holders to use for evil makes more sense than the French dub not even bothering with an explanation.

Saw this post and specifically the part where Astruc called a ship toxic because "your partner is not supposed to be your psychiatrist", couldn't help but think of some things you've said about seasons 5 adrinette

I agree with @immaturityofthomasastruc. It's very weird to say, "your partner is not supposed to be your psychiatrist," and then write the horror show that was season five Adrienette. I can't think of many pieces of media that lean into "your partner is responsible for all of your mental health struggles" more than season five did. These screenshots are either wildly hypocritical or a sign that the dude doesn't realize what he wrote, neither of which is a good look.

And saying that opposites attract is toxic? Sir, are you okay? Was this a translation error? Your romantic leads are basically designed around the opposites attract concept!

I will say that I agree that it's bad to tell little kids that "Character A can make character B better!" as that is an unhealthy relationship dynamic. However, if a character is trying to be better on their own and gets support from their romantic interest, that's an entirely different ball game, especially if the romantic interest isn't their entire support network.

If Chloe had been written to actually have a redemption arc (a thing I don't think she ever had), then her falling for Luka along the way would be fine. I think you could even tell a story where he's the driving force that starts her redemption as I personally think there is value in stories where people initially change for another person, but end up keeping the change because they like the person they've become. It's one of the ways that I personally would have redeemed Chloe!

Not the Luka thing - Chloe reads super aroace to me so I can't ship her with anyone - but Adrien or Ladybug. I can absolutely see a scenario where Chloe starts to act like a good person to keep Adrien's friendship or to win Ladybug's favor and, eventually, that behavior stops being an act. As I mentioned in the linked post, fake-it-til-you-make-it is a legitimate redemption path. It's the driving force of one of my all time favorite pieces of media: The Good Place. So if Chloe started acting nice to try and charm Luka, but it ended up sticking? I'd be okay with that as long as it was handled with care. Anything where Luka is the one trying to change Chloe? Hard pass.

@immaturityofthomasastruc on the other hand is actually very level headed. Even if I don't agree with them 100% of the time, they have well structured arguments. They don't give in to name calling or hyperbole that I've seen, and cite sources/tweets/etc. That's a good way to handle discourse.

Okay. No. Nobody can defend this man anymore. The blog immaturityofthomasastruc just did a large post on him criticising those who prefered the movie over the show and then ranting about toxic fandoms. He's a giant man baby, I know that, and I don't want you to have to scroll through the entire post just to get to my opinion. I take issue with one thing he said in particular though.

He went on about the difference between a movie and a series, fair point, the difference between writing for tv and writing fanfiction, again fair point, but then said nobody has the right to think they could do it better because a) they haven't worked in television and b) if they could they'd have been asked to work on Miraculous. Oh right. And you have to be french in order to write a decent Miraculous story, completely disregarding how inaccurate his portrayal of Paris is.

Not only is he saying he's immune to criticism because we "just don't know what's going on", not to mention the whole show is targeted at 5-8 year olds which seriously makes me question the rationale for Chat Blanc, but he's being a complete and total hypocrite. This is a man who says he could write better superhero stories, that his show is better then Pokemon and all of Pixar, and has more original powers then marvel.

I swear if I had twitter I'd screenshot those tweets send them to him and ask "so, what makes you qualified to criticise marvel and Pixar? Surely they'd have asked you to work for them since you're so qualified." God...

I've never thought I could be so disgusted by one man's social media, at least Trump just seemed stupid, this guy is just beyond arrogant and it's not helping the show. If he has such a problem the dude should stop interacting with fans. Or better yet, we need to stop interacting with him.

Can someone tell Thomas Astruc that you can drag a show out and not make it draining. I was reading a post from @immaturityofthomasastruc and saw one of Thomas's tweets that said "The movie gives you what you want. The series gives you what you need..." BullSHIT there are so many shows that hit the sweet spot of 1-4 seasons and it successfully kept the audience wanting more while still progressing the plot What Miraculous does is make a bunch of what if?/filler episodes making the show longer than it needs to be. I feel like we're gonna get to like season 10 and the reveal still hasn't happened and hes just gonna milk Miraculous dry.

When did he say that? Oh, I know that's the case, but when did he say or imply he never cared for Chloe?

There's nothing wrong with the show; that blog immaturityofthomasastruc is a hate blog that's dedicated to cyber-stalking ML's creator. What ACTUALLY happened is, the creator is one of the few people who is on the side of bullying victims. But some people decided they liked Chloe's character, and they demanded a redemption arc. When the creator refused to be a bullying apologist, they launched a hate campaign against him.

Okay, that sounds plausible.

Myself, I didn't finish watching the first episode. The premise grabbed me, but the execution didn't seem to fit my tastes.

I just recently Blocked a Person right here from my Tumblr Page, because I am not sure why He/She/They are saying, but indirectly saying that Miraculous Ladybug is better than Star Trek: Prodigy and The Writers room of Star Trek: Prodigy should take notes from MLB!! I'm sorry to burst your bubble!! But, Miraculous Ladybug is destroying Animation for nothing!! It's Miraculous Ladybug and Thomas Astruc, who needs to take notes from Star Trek Prodigy, not the other way around!! And S4 and S5 are not good on it's own!! They are the same people who thinks, that Miraculous Ladybug is better than any other show in this whole world animation!! And that person is saying that Star Trek: Prodigy is not good!! Then, sorry, you have no taste in Animation!! Because of MLB, we lost Star Trek: Prodigy in the name of "Tax Write-off" and you are glad about that??
