Stiles Summer Stories 2024
If asked when everything had started to go to shit, Stiles would probably pinpoint the Gerard Argent take-down as that moment. The very first time Scott had gone against Stiles, acted without even consulting Stiles. The first real crack in their friendship. Sure, they had drifted apart more and more since Scott had gotten together with Allison and prioritized his relationship over his friendship, but that? That betrayal had caused a rift between them. One that Stiles spent months trying to ignore, trying to mend, before it frayed more and more.
Additionally, that had been the last day Stiles had been a part of the Hale Pack. With Scott's betrayal, Derek turned his back on them. And Stiles didn't hold that against the then Alpha. But if that hadn't happened? If Scott and Stiles had stayed in the Hale Pack, maybe everything else wouldn't have happened. Maybe if Scott had been a proper beta, he would have never risen to being a True Alpha and then all of this wouldn't have happened and Stiles would still be happy with the Hale Pack, with Boyd and Erica, with whom he had forged a bond in that basement, with Isaac, who was just a big puppy, with Peter, who was—Stiles shook his head, trying not to think of Peter.
Scott became a True Alpha and, always the loyal best friend, Stiles became part of his pack. Derek gave up his Alpha spark to save his sister's life and the Hale Pack seemed to fall apart. Isaac, who had been drawn closer to Scott for months now, easily joined Scott's pack, together with Stiles and Lydia. The McCall Pack formed. But the Hale Pack wasn't done yet.
Peter Hale had too much ambition and he had lost too much in the past to give up the Hale Pack, to let it die fully. No, with so many spare Alphas running around, he had an easy time killing one to regain the Alpha spark for himself. This time, more sane and without killing a family member, the red eyes suited him much better, in Stiles' opinion.
But now there were two packs in Beacon Hills. Two Alphas with as much history as Peter and Scott? That was bound to blow up in all their faces. Tension rose, more and more. The two packs edged on and Stiles could see this escalating if someone didn't give. Peter gave.
"We're going to leave Beacon Hills, Stiles," Peter had told him back then, voice hard.
He'd stood with his arms crossed in Derek's loft. Derek, Cora, Boyd and Erica behind him, all avoiding Stiles' gaze. Looking like guilty puppies. It had made Stiles' heart clench so all he could do was nod at the Alpha, at the pack – the pack he once belonged to.
"I think it'll do you good," Stiles had offered softly. "There's so much trauma in this town. It's tried to kill every single one of you in the past. Heck, it did kill you, Peter. I hope… you'll be happy."
Peter had looked at him with an unreadable expression. "We're going-"
"Don't tell me," Stiles had requested, shaking his head. "You want to get out of here, get a new start. You don't want anyone in Beacon Hills know where you are. And I don't want to be the one to drag you back here. You gotta… leave it all behind."
"We don't want to leave you behind," Erica had looked at him with tears in her eyes.
"I'll come back for you, sweetheart," Peter had rested a hand on his cheek. "Day of your graduation, I am coming back and I will ask you to make the choice that I can't ask of you right now. But I trust Scott to fuck up badly enough to make this choice easy for you."
Stiles wondered if Peter had really known just how true his words would turn out to be, or if he'd just been a prick with a complex back then. Either way, Stiles had agreed to that and he had hugged them all. It had hurt, seeing them leave, but he knew it was the right decision for them and that was all Stiles wanted. For them to be happy, to not be dragged down by this damn town.
The McCall Pack gained two new pack-members, in the supposedly reformed former Alpha twins. That was when the crack in Scott and Stiles' relationship grew more, because he'd vetoed that. They had helped capture Cora, Boyd and Erica, had helped nearly kill them, but Scott was giving them a second chance? Not just by letting them go, but by offering them a place in their pack?
Next up, Malia Tate and Kira Yukimura joined the pack, as Stiles' life started falling apart. He got possessed by the Nogitsune, it used him to kill people, so many people. He'd killed Aiden and – and he killed Allison, even if nobody knew, because he'd poured all of his magic, all of his Spark, into saving her life as she bled out in his arms. She had still been gravely injured, had spent weeks in the hospital to recover, but she was alive and that was all that mattered. Or so Stiles thought.
It was the final straw for Chris to leave, as soon as Allison was discharged from the hospital. He'd only stayed after the rest of his family had died, one by one, because Allison insisted. This? This had been too close a call, Chris was done (Chris had no idea just how close and if Stiles had any say in it, Chris would never know that Stiles had actually killed his daughter). Stiles understood it. This town had taken so damn much from Chris. And Stiles was sure neither Chris nor Allison wanted to look at the boy who'd 'nearly' killed Allison. Stiles couldn't even look at himself, after all. Isaac left with them, left with his girlfriend and the man who'd been looking over him.
The last member of the Hale Pack left Beacon Hills and Stiles felt something inside him break.
If he'd known that this was just the beginning of the end? Maybe he would have packed up and left too. Not with them, he understood that the Argents would never want to have anything to do with him. If Stiles thought the possession was bad, the aftermath of it was even worse.
He couldn't sleep, ate less than he used to, pulled away from the pack, because the pack – Scott – pulled away from him. Couldn't even look at Stiles anymore. Asked Stiles' opinion less and less.
And then Gerard fucking Argent had returned. Which, brought him back to the beginning. The Gerard take-down was when things started coming apart, because Scott's stupid plan had left the man alive and nobody tracked him down to kill him, so of course had the vengeance obsessed bastard come up with a revenge plan. A deadpool on all the supernatural of Beacon Hills.
Stiles and Scott had fought about it, a lot, until Stiles started giving in, because he was so tired. He didn't sleep enough. He didn't get enough physical comfort. His dad was trying. Malia was… Malia was being a really good friend, was trying too, she understood physical needs, understood pack in a way that Scott never would, that Scott refused to learn. But Malia was also still struggling with being human and she had her new, shiny relationship with Kira, so she couldn't be there for Stiles 24/7 either. Lydia was trying, but whenever Stiles looked at her, he flinched away in guilt. He'd heard her Banshee scream for Allison the night Stiles had killed Lydia's best friend.
Theo was Stiles' breaking point. Theo, who waltzed into their pack and became Scott's right-hand just like that, had the Alpha's ear and trust and so easily filled a role that Stiles had always thought was his. The worst part was that Stiles knew Theo was up to no good. Was planning something. Theo knew Stiles knew, he kept taunting Stiles about it.
And then Donovan had happened, Stiles had killed him and Theo twisted Scott into accusing Stiles of murder. They didn't kill in Scott's pack. He didn't tolerate a killer in his pack. And Stiles, he knew it was about more than Donovan. It was about the people Stiles had killed. It was about their argument in regards to Gerard Argent and how they should have killed him.
"Kiddo," his dad had looked at him with broken eyes when Stiles had broken down in front of him that night. "Tell me what you need, tell me what I can do to fix this, please."
For months, he had watched his son fall apart, bits and pieces being chipped off Stiles. The possession had broken him, truly broken him, and Stiles was fighting every day to survive, but now he was losing what little stability he had – the pack.
"I need to get out of here, I'm drowning, dad," Stiles had sobbed into his father's shoulder, clinging onto him. "I'm treading water and I can't keep going, I can't, I'm going to drown if I don't get out. And I know he's not going to let me out, he won't, he'll kill you, he threatened you, I can't-"
His father's eyes had hardened. Determination. He'd lost his wife in this damn town, he wasn't going to watch his son die before his eyes. Not if there was anything he could do to help.
Two days later, the Stilinskis died in a tragic car accident.
Stiles' pack bonds had already been severed by Scott so there was nothing to worry about. If Scott didn't want to believe him that Theo was a threat? Fine, then. He could get himself killed. Stiles no longer cared. All he cared about was his dad, his dad's safety. Theo had made the wrong move threatening his dad. So they faked their own deaths and, with some skills Stiles had learned from Danny, started new lives, under new names. John Gajos and his son Stiliyan Gajos, so Stiles could keep his nickname, he couldn't shed himself fully.
As the two of them drove out of Beacon Hills and Roscoe stood in flames with two unidentified bodies they'd borrowed from the morgue, the only regret Stiles had was that he had no way of contacting the Hale Pack and letting them know he was fine. Maybe… Maybe even ask them if he could come live with them. His heart ached at that thought. No. Why would they want him, he was broken beyond repair, he'd killed his own pack-mates. No, this was better. Just him and his dad.
/break\
They'd traveled through the US for a couple months. Never staying anywhere for more than a couple weeks. They moved to Canada and lived there for a few months, giving Stiles the chance to settle and heal at least a little. As he healed, his Spark started to ignite again. Tiny, a fraction of what it used to be, but he could feel its warmth in his chest again. And that warmth pulled him away from America, over the ocean. He told his dad that it felt like his magic was pulling him and his dad had simply shrugged and started packing. They were doing this to be together, the destination didn't matter. It had made Stiles smile ever so softly. So the Gajoses packed up again and moved across the pond to London, because that's where his Spark was pulling Stiles.
The entire flight to London, Stiles sat curled together on his seat on the plane and he kept sketching in his notebook. He wasn't one for drawing, really. He took notes, used words. Words were his weapon of choice. But he'd felt restless since they left Toronto, since take-off.
His dad kept looking over his shoulder. "What are you drawing, kiddo? What is that?"
It startled Stiles out of his thoughts and made him actually look at the page. Swirls. Countless swirls. Always three swirls facing each other, meeting in the middle. The Hale triskele. Stiles' heart skipped a beat as he saw it over and over again on his page. In between, there were a couple of little arrows too. Arrow-heads between triskeles. A smile twisted on his lips.
"Nothing," Stiles muttered and turned the page. "Just something… that was important once."
Noah's – John's – eyes narrowed at him, but his father had mercy on him and didn't force him to explain. How could he? Arrows for the Argents, the man he'd been developing a crush on over the months after the Hales left, the girl who'd once time been a close friend and then Stiles had killed her. Guilt, shame, desire, loss, all knotted up into one twisted strange emotion. And the triskele. Longing, home, family, hope, friendship, belonging, loss, rejection.
London was going to be a new start for them. London was going to be good, Stiles just knew it. He didn't know how, but he knew that this was where him and his dad were going to get a proper fresh start. Beacon Hills kept casting a long shadow that had reached even all the way to Canada and Stiles couldn't, he couldn't, he could not be tempted to go back. London would be safer.
/break\
John sighed tired as he entered their apartment, gaining Stiles' attention. He tilted his head to look at his dad. They shared a small apartment, two bedrooms, a kitchen barely big enough to turn around. But they had to leave everything behind when they left Beacon Hills, including any money they had. All they had saved was a thumb-drive, with all of Stiles' work and all of their family pictures on it – they had both been grateful for fourteen year old Stiles' hyperfixation on scanning all their analog family photos one summer – and the clothes on their backs. Stiles hadn't been able to leave his red leather jacket behind, it was the last thing he'd gotten from Peter, a parting gift when the Hales had left Beacon Hills three years ago. An unspoken promise, since leather jackets were a Hale Pack thing, like they were a gang and not a group of werewolves. Stiles had worn it with pride, even when Scott would glare at it. He couldn't let that go up in flames back then.
With all their worldly possessions and all their savings going up in flames, they'd spent the months of traveling through the US doing odd jobs, anything to get enough money to keep them moving. Living from the hand to the mouth. They were able to gather some small savings during their time in Canada, but that was entirely burned on the move to London.
"Hey, dad," Stiles greeted, returning his attention to the newspaper.
"Hey, kiddo," John stepped up to his son, ruffling his hair and kissing the top of his head. "What are you doing? Looking for jobs again? ...Anything interesting?"
So far, since moving here, Stiles had been working as a waiter in a café. His dad had found a job in a private security company. He couldn't bring himself to join law enforcement, not under a fake name. Mostly, his dad worked nights, which meant they didn't see each other too much, but they needed to make ends meet and his dad's job at least paid enough to keep them afloat.
"I don't…" Stiles trailed off as a name caught his eyes.
His heart jumped into his throat. Hale & Associates. It wasn't a rare last name. There were tens of thousands of Hales in the world. Still, seeing that name made something warm unfurl in his chest. A law firm. The named partner was looking for a private assistant and secretary. Was it silly? To want to apply to a job he had no experience or qualifications for, solely based on the firm's name?
Oh well, the worst that could happen was that he got yet another rejection. Who knew, maybe the name would be his lucky charm, maybe they could catch a break with this. He was going to try.

Chris smiled bemused as he walked into his husband's law firm, their daughters trailing after him, arguing the entire time. Allison and Malia had adjusted horribly to being step-sisters, taking all the worst quality of siblings. He reached one hand out to ruffle Malia's hair.
"Christopher, what have I told you about bringing the girls?"
Peter heaved a long-suffering sigh as he looked up from the file on his desk. Chris loved that office, it was huge, with a large window front behind him, overseeing all of London. A display of power, something his husband had always loved. Smiling, Chris approached and grabbed Peter by the neck, pulling him into a kiss while the girls set up lunch.
"We aren't girls anymore," Allison pointed out. "We're twenty. Well, I'm twenty-one."
"Don't play the older card again," Malia rolled her eyes.
"Why are they arguing?" Peter asked, turning to Chris.
Mh. Chris blinked repeatedly. He actually had no idea, he'd fully tuned them out.
"We're arguing about the new menu at Stiles' Sweets!" Allison huffed. "Boyd let Erica talk him into adding something absolutely abominable that is not edible. Everyone in the pack knows not to let Erica make any food decisions. But his mate looks at him with the big, brown eyes, he caves."
"I think it's good," Malia glared. "It's weird, but that's good. Stiles liked weird. Stiles would have liked it a lot, so we should keep it on the menu."
For a moment, Chris couldn't breath, his hand grabbing Peter's shoulder to cling onto his husband. Peter wrapped an arm around Chris' waist, pulling him close. Even without seeing Peter's face, Chris knew there was a twist of pain on it. It had warmed their hearts when Boyd and Kira had opened their little café and honored their lost, beloved pack-mate by naming the café after him. But every time the boy came up in conversation, it still hurt the Alpha pair. It hurt a lot.
Peter had left first and he had chosen to not force Stiles to make a decision, had left Stiles behind and promised to come back for him. He never got the chance to. Months before graduation, Stiles and his father had died in a horrible car accident.
Chris felt the same. When he'd left that wretched town, with Allison and Isaac, he had left Stiles behind, had thought it would be wrong to force the boy to leave, thought Stiles would be safe and comforted by his pack. That that was where he needed to be to heal.
Now Stiles was gone forever and they could have prevented it if they had just taken the boy.
"What are you working on, Peter?" Allison asked in a soft voice, changing the topic.
The Alpha lifted his head to offer his stepdaughter a forced but grateful smile. "I'm looking through applicants. Since someone insists on me getting a personal assistant."
"The entire pack agrees that you need a personal assistant, babe," Chris huffed. "I love how much you are flourishing in your work, but you absolutely need someone else to organize it for you and to allow yourself to step back some. You have duties to this pack and this family."
Peter simply grumbled at that, making Chris smile a little. When the Hales had left Beacon Hills three years ago, they'd moved to London, to join the one member of the Hale Pack who had been forced to leave before them – Jackson Whittemore, dragged away by his parents when he had barely become a werewolf. With no ties to any other place, Peter, Derek, Cora, Boyd and Erica had decided to move to London, and Jackson had finally gotten to officially join the Hale Pack. With Jackson's father being a lawyer, Peter got a foot back into his old job, from before the fire. He'd worked hard to build a reputation and ultimately opened his own law-firm. Chris couldn't be prouder of his husband. Well, he could be, if Peter would delegate a little more.
"Show me," Chris ordered, grabbing one of the files.
Both Malia and Allison also perked up, walking around the desk to come to stand on either side of Peter. The smallest smile spread over Chris' lips as he watched Malia bump her hip against Peter's side, gently scent-marking her father. It had taken a lot of time, but the loss of Stiles had brought father and daughter closer together. Lydia had called Jackson, choking on tears as she told him about Stiles' death. They hadn't even bothered to pack anything, they'd left London with the clothes on their backs, not wanting to miss the funeral. The Hale Pack came back with two more members than they had arrived with. Lydia, who'd gone for an early graduation, and Malia, who had nobody and nothing left but her mate, had eagerly left Beacon Hills with her estranged family, now that Stiles was dead. Malia's mate Kira had followed them, right after graduation.
"Stiles," Malia whispered, drawing the attention of her family. "That's stupid. I'm sorry. I just…"
The other three turned toward the file she was looking at. Stiliyan Gajos, twenty years old. Currently working as a waiter. In fact, all his previous jobs were mostly customer service jobs. Nothing in the realm of being a secretary or working with a law firm. But his introductory letter did open up with him preferring to go by Stiles and Chris understood her impulse, that feeling of yearning at hearing that name. Chris heaved a sigh and held onto Peter a little tighter.
"Why not," Peter huffed with a bitter smile. "None of them seem perfect."
"You can't hire a stranger just because it'll mean you'll get to say his name again."
Peter fully ignored Chris' glare. Heaving an exasperated sigh, Chris went to sit down and eat before lunch would get cold. After exchanging a look, Malia and Allison joined him. The girls both had to go back to college after lunch, after all. They didn't have all day, as much as Chris would love that. He was proud of his girls, of both of them. Malia had really struggled with school, but she'd been determined to go to college, because Stiles had helped her so much, had been behind her education so she was trying to live up to his expectations, trying to make him proud even in death.
They all had a Stiles shaped hole in their lives. Their pack had a Stiles shaped hole.
/break\
Peter smiled bemused as he read up on the pack group chat. Erica and Cora were in an all-out brawl about Erica's latest idea for the menu on Stiles' Sweets, while Malia was trying to get some help on an assignment and Lydia, fully ignoring Cora and Erica, kept answering her questions.
It was strange, when Peter had learned the truth about Malia, about having a daughter, he hadn't expected to ever have a real relationship with her. He didn't know how to be a father. She didn't know how to be a human. It'd been stilted and awkward and distant. Until they lost Stiles. Peter had loved that boy and Stiles had been so important to Malia too. That loss had united them.
It had also brought them Lydia, something Peter had never seen coming. Yes, Jackson and Lydia still had their bond. A love that could literally break a curse wasn't something that easily faded, even if both of them pursued different sexual partners when Jackson moved to London. They stayed in contact, all this time. But she had her parents, and the McCall Pack, to keep her in Beacon Hills. It was Stiles' death that had made her leave, no longer able to look Scott in the face. She sought the familiar. Jackson and Allison, Malia had become a friend to Lydia too so her going to London had been another incentive for Lydia to leave. She was brilliant and scary and she would make a terrifying lawyer once she finished her education, Peter couldn't wait to see her in a courtroom.
Knocking on his door interrupted his thoughts, just as he typed a snarky reply to Erica's suggestion. Right, he had that blasted job interview. Heaving a sigh, he put his phone down. He didn't want a personal assistant, but his pack was probably right. Ever since he'd opened his own firm, he had been buried in work and he had other responsibilities too. A personal assistant would go a long way in organizing his appointment and keeping an overview, maybe even help him delegate.
"Come in," Peter called out, leaning back in his chair.
He liked to project an air of authority, threat and predator. After all, he was an Alpha wolf. Let's see how the Gajos boy would do. Peter had interviewed two others already, not impressed by them. And though the boy's preferred name should really not have swayed him, he couldn't help it. Even two years after Stiles' death, there was still a hole in Peter's heart. He loved Chris, loved Chris dearly, had fallen in love with Chris when the man had moved to London for the sake of Isaac, not wanting the boy to become an omega and seeking out Isaac's old pack for comfort. But regardless of how much he loved Chris, Peter doubted he'd ever stop loving Stiles.
"Thank you for having me, I…" Stiles Gajos trailed off, making a startled sound. "Peter?!"
Peter's head snapped up, his attention dragged back to the present day by that voice. That voice. His breath hitched as he looked at the young man in front of him. Messy, brown hair, longer than he remembered, but those moles, that cute upturned nose, the tempting, bow-shaped, pink lips and, most of all, those big, brown doe-eyes with the long lashes.
Peter couldn't breath. He stared at the phantom in front of him, before he growled viciously, his eyes flashing red as he jumped out of his chair and stalked up to the boy, backing him against the door, pinning him with Peter's hands on either side of his head. Doe-eyes widened in fear.
"I don't know what you are, or who you think you are, but you are crossing the wrong Alpha by daring to walk in here wearing his face," Peter snarled, shaking.
Fear melted into confusion, before realization set in. Those eyes, they may be fake but they were good fakes. They looked so real. Peter could see the cogs working behind them, the way he had always loved with his clever boy, so easily putting things together.
"You think I'm dead," the shapeshifter or face-stealer or whatever he was spoke. "Oh no."
"Stop playing games," Peter growled, putting a hand around the intruder's throat to hold him in place, to stop him from escaping. "He died. I was at his funeral. So what do you think gives you the right to use his face to taunt me. I'll make it hurt, I promise."
"Peter," the not-Stiles spoke softly. "I'm so sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't know how to contact you. I was stupid, when I told you to leave and not tell me where to. I didn't… I couldn't call you, any of you, to tell you that I'm alive. I faked my death, to get out of Beacon Hills."
Peter felt himself wavering, hope and despair twisting together. His hand around the boy's throat tightened. But those doe-eyes kept staring him dead in the eye, not afraid. A fake would be afraid at this point. The only one who'd never be afraid of him, not anymore, was Stiles. His Stiles.
"I need you to look at me, Peter," the voice was firm, was so much like Stiles' no-nonsense voice. "I'm wearing your jacket, the one you gave me before you left Beacon Hills. Last time you saw it, it was all new and shiny. It's worn, from years of usage. If I were some shapeshifter or whatever you think, then how would I know about that, how would I know to fake this detail. On top of knowing things that a simple face-stealer wouldn't know. You can only copy a person's memories perfectly if that person is still alive, so if I – Stiles – were dead, then there could not be a perfect copy here, smelling like the real deal, looking like the real deal, having detailed memories."
Smelling. Peter leaned in and the boy willingly, with no reluctance, bared his throat for Peter. Why would he, any werewolf could easily tear out his throat but an Alpha even more so. Making himself this vulnerable, why would he. Peter buried his nose in that long, pale neck, inhaling deeply. That scent of cinnamon, ink and lightning was the most unique blend he'd ever smelt and he would never forget it. A growl ripped from his throat, his hands both going down to grab the boy by the waist, clinging onto him, clinging onto the hope of this being real.
"You can't be unreal," Peter whispered, a near plea. "If this is a trick-"
"It's not," the boy rested his hands on Peter's chest. "I'm real. I… I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, I didn't… I never wanted to hurt you, any of you, I just didn't know what else to do…"
Peter pushed off, hard. He walked back to his desk, grabbing his phone, typing out a message even as he turned around to get back to Stiles. Emergency pack meeting. Right now. Sending the text, he grabbed Stiles by the wrist, holding tight and pulling him along.
"I will be out of the office for the rest of the day, cancel all my appointments," Peter barked at the receptionist as he dragged Stiles with him into the elevator.
"Uhm, why are you kidnapping me? Where are we going?"
"Pack," Peter forced out, his grip on Stiles tightening. "I need others to see you, I need to make sure you're real. I need to know that I'm not losing my mind again."
"Okay," Stiles' voice was soft. "You're real too, huh?"
Peter's eyes flew down to the boy and he noticed movement. He was pressing his thumbs against the pads of his other fingers, one by one. Peter stilled, sucking in a sharp breath. Malia, Lydia and Kira had told them about this. That after the possession, Stiles had started counting his fingers that way, whenever he was doubtful if something was real or if he was dreaming. A face-stealing creature wouldn't know to do this and Peter's subconscious wouldn't know to add this detail to the hallucination, since he'd never actually seen Stiles do it.
"I am," Peter confirmed after a moment. "There is a lot that needs to be explained, on both sides."
Stiles hummed softly in confirmation, still counting his fingers. Peter's phone rang, startling them both. With his free hand, Peter fished his phone out of his pocket, noting that he had about two dozen notifications from the group chat already, before he accepted the call.
"Hello, love," Peter greeted, trying to breath and calm down.
"Don't 'hello, love' me like that, Hale," Chris barked out. "You can't just call for an emergency pack meeting and then drop out of the chat like that! Do you know how much you scared me? Are you hurt? Are you alright? Are you somewhere safe? Do I need to get to you?"
"I'm sorry," Peter winced. "I could have used more words. I'm fine, I'm not hurt, I'm not in any danger. I have… I have big news, I do have something urgent and the whole pack needs to see. Please organize the pups and herd them back home, I don't care if they still have classes. Tell Boyd and Erica to close the café early today."
Next to him, Stiles stilled at the mention of Boyd and Erica, doe-eyes widening as he stared at Peter with something like hope and longing. Peter clung onto Stiles like a life-line. He needed to be real.
"Peter…" Chris inhaled loudly. "This better be really important. I'll do it, I trust you, but…"
"I understand," Peter assured him. "I… I don't want to tell you over the phone. You need to see…"
If he told Chris that their boy was alive, he didn't know if Chris would be safe to drive home. And maybe Chris would think Peter had lost it, which Peter himself was still wondering.
"I love you," Chris declared gruffly. "Stay safe."
"Always," Peter smiled softly. "I love you too. I'll see you soon."
The call disconnected and Peter put his phone away, aware of Stiles' eyes on him. Curious and prodding, the way Peter remembered them. How much he had missed that inquisitive mind.
"Love, huh?" Stiles raised his eyebrows.
"At home," Peter shook his head. "Please."
Stiles nodded, understanding the need to digest. Probably needing that himself too right now. Stiles seemed as rattled by seeing Peter as Peter himself felt. His hand slipped from Stiles' wrist to properly take his hand, interlacing their fingers, holding onto the boy. Stiles squeezed his hand.
"The jacket looks good on you," Peter noted, looking at his boy. "I knew it would."
A quirk of Stiles' lip, that broad half-grin of his, all crooked and mischievous and beautiful. Peter's heart started racing as he got lost in that grin. He loved this boy so much. He'd missed this boy so much, he hadn't even realized just how much. Like he had lost a part of himself.
/break\
It wasn't a coincident. Peter was such a common first name and Hale wasn't a rare surname either. Why would Stiles expect to meet Peter Hale in London, after all. He'd never considered that the Hale Pack fully left the US. But when he walked into the lawyer's office, that was undeniably Peter Hale sitting there behind that imposing desk, looking handsome as ever.
Not going to lie, getting threatened by Peter had taken him by surprise at first, but when he realized that Peter had spent the past two years thinking Stiles was dead? Damn. It figured that the wolf would think him to be some kind of trick. Not that Stiles didn't think the same. He instinctively counted his fingers, unsure if this was real, if Peter was real.
"Where are we going?" Stiles asked as they drove out of the city.
"Home," Peter replied simply, voice warm and filled with love.
It made Stiles' heart ache in envy. He missed having a home. He had his dad, his dad was his home, but a place that felt like home? He did miss that. Folding a little smaller, he let himself be driven out of the city and onto a farm. His eyes widened at the beautiful, huge farm house.
"Welcome to the Hale Farm," Peter smiled as he parked the car. "Come."
Hale Farm. They had a farm. Oh, that somehow made Stiles happy. Large enough lands, a bit out of town so the wolves could roam free. Climbing out of the car, he eagerly looked around as much as he could see, even while Peter led him into the house.
"Uncle," Derek growled from somewhere once they entered the house. "What is…"
Derek. Stiles' eyes widened and he eagerly pushed past Peter to run in the direction of the voice. He hadn't seen Derek in years. Before they'd left, Derek had practically become his best friend after Scott. Rounding the corner, Stiles entered a spacious living room with three couches and two love seats and there stood Derek. He looked more mature and a little softer than Stiles remembered him, but it was Derek. Without thinking on it did Stiles launch himself at the wolf.
"Derek, holy shit, I missed you," Stiles gasped out.
The wolf beneath him was frozen, not moving. Oh. Right. Probably had the same reaction as Peter. Stiles really hoped nobody was going to rip his throat out today. Slowly, he peeled himself off Derek and took a step back. The look on Derek's face was wrecked. Fully heartbroken.
"No…" Derek's voice actually croaked. "This… This can't be… You're dead."
"I can explain, I will explain, please don't threaten me for thinking I'm a shapeshifter, your uncle already did that," Stiles blurted out. "I'm real. I'm alive. I didn't die. I'm not dead."
Whines drew his attention to the couches and he noticed the other wolves in the room. Erica was sitting on Boyd's lap, next to them was Isaac. On the other couch were Jackson and Cora. Stiles' heart jumped as he looked at the Hale Pack, a bright smile lighting up his face even though he was surprised to see Jackson here. But then he did dimly remember that four years ago, when Jackson had left, his parents had moved to London, Lydia had said something like that.
"A… Are you really real?" Erica asked in a shaky voice. "Are you really our Stiles?"
Our Stiles. Stiles' heart clenched and he blinked away tears as he nodded. The next second, he found himself in the middle of a suffocating puppy-pile. All five betas got off the couches and were suddenly hugging him – even Jackson. They were crying. Crying because they'd missed him, because they thought he was dead. Holy shit. He was sobbing himself, burying his face in Boyd's chest while Erica rubbed her face against his neck. This felt like coming home.
"Peter, you better have a good reason for this."
The voice was gruff and Stiles vaguely recognized it but couldn't place it. It had him tense.
"I still have two more classes," Lydia. "I got out of class early for this, make it good, Alpha."
Lydia was here. Why was Lydia here. Lydia was part of Scott's pack. Stiles' heart-rate picked up, and not in a good way. The betas clinging onto him let go reluctantly as the new arrivals entered the room. Stiles froze, fear gripping him as he saw Lydia, Malia, Kira, Chris and Allison enter.
"S… Stiles…" Lydia's voice broke, her eyes widening. "I knew it. I knew it. I would have screamed for you, if you had died, I would have screamed for you, I knew you couldn't be dead, I knew it."
The next second, the redhead was clinging onto his neck, nearly throwing him off-balance. Stiles couldn't help but flinch, more wary. Not necessarily because of her but because she wasn't Hale. She was McCall. So were Malia and Kira. Why were they here? Was Scott here too? Had they found him? Had they been looking for him? Was everything for naught now?
"W… Why are you here?" Stiles asked, voice a little frantic as he stared at Lydia, Kira and Malia. "Is… Is Sco… Is Scott here too? Is the rest of his pack here?"
"We're Hale Pack," Malia replied, tilting her head with a frown. "We left Beacon Hills with dad and the others, when they came back to Beacon Hills for your funeral."
Stiles' heart clenched at that. "Y… You came back for my funeral…? But… But…"
"Lydia called me," Jackson shrugged, not looking at him. "Lyds and I stayed in contact this whole time. She didn't know the Hale Pack was here though. Peter said he promised you not to let anyone in Beacon Hills know where they were, so I never told her. But I told them, when she told me about your… about your death. We came back for your funeral."
Everyone was staring at Stiles and his heart was racing. Between the Hale Pack – the Hale Pack he knew about – and the former McCall Pack members and the Argents, he was completely overwhelmed. Judging by the looks on their faces, they all were as overwhelmed though.
"Kira and I were at the grocery store," Chris spoke in a detached voice, his eyes not leaving Stiles, sounding like he was on autopilot. "We went to pick up the girls from college."
Chris and Allison approached him and he couldn't help but flinch away, half hiding behind Derek. They must hate him. How could they not hate him. He'd killed Allison. He'd killed Allison. His heart-rate picked up as panic took over, tears burning in his eyes. His thumbs pressed hard against the pads of his other fingers, one by one, counting. He couldn't look away from Allison.
"Stiles…?" Allison spoke softly, like she was talking to a spooked animal.
The others took a careful step back from him, like they were trying to give him space. This wasn't real. This couldn't be real. Why would the Argents be here? The Hale Pack, maybe, maybe that could be real. But Lydia, Malia and Kira? That was too much, they had been the only ones he'd still relied on in the McCall Pack. But Chris and Allison? Why would they be here?
"This isn't real," Stiles whispered frantically to himself, aggressively counting his fingers. "You're not real. You can't be here. Why would you be here. This is just… just in my head."
Tears ran down his cheeks at that realization. Of course it was. He should have known the moment he walked into Peter's office. Why should he get to see Peter again? Why should he get to see Derek and Boyd and Erica and Isaac again? He didn't deserve that. His knees buckled.
"Stiles," Lydia's voice was sharp as she knelt down in front of him. "Listen to my voice. This is real. We're real. We're here, okay? Can you do something for me? Can you focus on your surroundings? Can you name four things you can see?"
Stiles' eyes flew around the room. "T… Table. Couch. Fur. Fireplace."
There was lamb fur in front of a fireplace. It looked so comfortable. The thought was jarring.
Lydia smiled at him. "Okay, good. And three things that you can here?"
"Birds," Stiles blinked repeatedly. "Your voice. Peter growling."
His eyes found the Alpha who stood tensely close by, looking like he was holding himself back.
"You're doing great, sweetie. Can you tell me two things that you can feel?"
He pressed a hand down onto the wooden floor, the other holding his jacket. "Wood. Leather."
"Good," Lydia's smile grew. "One last one? Can you read something for me?"
She pointed over toward the book-shelf behind Peter and Stiles jerked when he saw the book-titles. Could read the books titles. Ten fingers. Words. This was real. He took a shaky breath.
"A Midsummer Night's Dream," Stiles whispered, eyes on the book in the shelf.
"Good," Lydia brushed a hand through his hair. "You're doing great. Do you feel better?"
Stiles shook his head. No. He felt like throwing up what little he had in his stomach. His eyes went back to Chris and Allison, who stood there, frozen in the spot, looking at him with horrified expressions. Of course they did. He was a monster. He killed her.
"I'm sorry," Stiles voice broke, pleading with them. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I-"
"None of that," Lydia grabbed his face firmly, redirecting his attention to her. "I have no idea what's going on in your head right now, but you are not slipping into another panic attack, do you hear me? You'll breath, slowly, and calm yourself down enough to articulate what's wrong."
Stiles curled together, making himself small as he sat on the floor. The pack started moving slowly, like they didn't mean to spook him, sitting down on the couches. Stiles saw the way Peter slipped a hand into Chris' and wrapped his other arm around Allison in comfort. A sparkle on their linked hands caught Stiles' attention. Wedding bands. His breath hitched. Oh, this so could not be real, not only should the Argents not be here, but the two men he'd been in love with were married? Last time he had seen them interact, they were barely keeping from ripping each other apart.
"I need…" Stiles took a shaky breath. "I need you to make this make sense, I need you to explain why A… Why they are here, how this… Why you're here. I need you to make this feel real. Because it's just overwhelming and bizarre and unreal to me and that frightens me."
"Right. He's the one who died but we have to explain ourselves first," Jackson snorted.
There was an accusation in his eyes too and Stiles knew it was a deserved accusation.
"Jackson," Isaac snarled, eyes flashing, while Erica and Malia were right behind him.
"What?" Jackson snarled right back. "He died! We were at his funeral! We cried over his fucking grave and he's just here, alive, and we have to explain first?"
"He's also the one with possession-induced PTSD," Kira spoke up gently. "And all of us being together, without him understanding how, is currently making him question if this is even real."
Stiles folded himself even smaller, legs drawn up against his chest. He wrapped his arms around his knees, turning his wrist over to read the sentence etched into his skin – This is real. You're awake, Mischief. Written in his mother's handwriting, pieced together from his mother's cook-books. His heart clenched at the thought that he had left them behind. He had them scanned, on his drive, but the physical books, they couldn't take them when they left Beacon Hills. He started shaking.
"When we left Beacon Hills," Peter's voice was even, forcibly even. "Me, Derek, Cora, Boyd and Erica, we left and came here, because of Jackson. Because he was a beta of the Hale Pack, even as he'd had to leave. We had no other place to go, so we followed Derek's first beta."
Stiles sucked his lower lip in, regarding the core Hale Pack and Jackson. "Okay."
"When we left Beacon Hills," Chris spoke up and Stiles instinctively flinched at his voice, causing Chris to hesitate for a moment before he continued. "We went to France for three weeks, more a vacation, really. But Isaac needed a pack, and I figured that he would be more stable, more happy, with his pack, so I spent our weeks in France tracking down the Hale Pack."
Stiles blinked repeatedly, looking at Isaac. Isaac, leaning against Boyd and Erica. The first three Hale Pack betas. Stiles knew how much Isaac had missed them. After the Hale Pack had left, Isaac crawled into Stiles' bedroom many nights, seeking solace, knowing that he couldn't talk to Scott about how much he missed the Hales, knowing Stiles missed them too. This made sense.
"Okay," Stiles nodded, not looking away from Isaac, not looking at the Argents.
"You died, Stiles," Lydia's voice wobbled. "We all thought you died and I called Jackson, I told him, I cried on the phone with him for hours, and they came. They came for the funeral. It was… tense, it nearly escalated into a fight with Scott's pack, but they came. And when I saw Jackson again, after all this time, when he held me while we stood at your grave, when I thought that… that you were gone forever, I didn't know what else was holding me in Beacon Hills. Allison, Jackson, they were both in London and you were dead and I had graduated early anyway, so I packed my bags and left so I could have my boyfriend and my best friend."
Stiles' lips quirked as he watched Lydia reach for Jackson's hand. He always knew those two would find each other again. A love that could defy a curse, how could it not withstand the distance.
"Lydia and you were like my favorite people in the pack, after Kira," Malia frowned. "And then you were dead and Lydia said she was leaving and I… You always told me that I should try and rekindle my relationship with my dad, it was… it was so important to you and it felt like… like something I could do that would make you proud, so I gave him a chance and went with them."
The tentative smile turned into a genuine, bright smile at that. He'd bugged her for months, wanting her to give Peter a chance, knowing that post-resurrection Peter was a better man. He also knew what it was like to lose family and he thought that she shouldn't miss out on the family she still had – the father and the two cousins that she never bothered to get to know.
"I stayed in Beacon Hills until I graduated," Kira tagged on. "And I eased my parents into the idea of me moving to London after graduation and, yeah, I… I followed Malia and Lydia and got to know the Hale Pack and then I joined it and now we're… now we're pack."
Okay. One by one, these made sense. Their reasoning made sense. Stiles took a shaky breath.
"This is really real? You're really all here in one room?" Stiles asked one last time.
"It is, sweetheart," Peter promised gently. "Will you tell us how you're alive now?"
Stiles went back to chewing his lip, hard. He wished he didn't have to. He'd tried so hard not to think about any of this for the past two years, pushing it down as far as he could. His eyes landed on Allison for just a moment before he quickly averted his gaze again.
"I think things between me and Scott had… had been crumbling for a long time, maybe since the bite," Stiles started softly, pulling himself closer together. "But something between us broke when I… when I killed Allison. He couldn't really look at me anymore, we stopped hanging out, and I can't blame him for it. I couldn't look at myself anymore."
"Stiles, you didn't kill me," Allison interrupted concerned. "I'm right here. I'm alive. Is… Is this something that the demon made you think? A nightmare?"
Stiles' face twisted into a grimace and he tried to make himself even smaller. "I killed you."
"No, you didn't," Chris' voice was firm and serious. "The demon stabbed Allison, but even it didn't kill her. Stiles, look at me. You did not kill Allison."
Stiles couldn't fight the command in the hunter's voice and he looked up at Chris, tears running down his cheeks. "I did. It stabbed her and it made me watch, a… and… and she died. When Lydia screamed that day, she… she didn't scream because someone might die, she screamed because Allison did die. She died in my arms and I was too late. I could fight for control but it was too late and Allison was dead and I killed her and it was my fault-"
"Allison isn't dead, sweetheart," Peter interrupted him firmly. "This was some trick from the demon. I'm sorry it made you see that, believe that, but…"
"No," Stiles shook his head frustrated. "She died but I couldn't let her stay dead. I used my Spark. I poured all of my magic into her to pull her soul back. It was… I… I think in the end, that's why we managed to exorcise the Nogitsune, because it had been feeding off my magic, but… I didn't have any magic left after that, there was nothing there to sustain it anymore."
"Y… You… I died? And you gave up your magic to bring me back?"
Stiles reluctantly turned toward Allison, tears staining his cheeks. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I killed you, I didn't, I wasn't strong enough to stop it, I couldn't stop it, I'm sorry."
"You gave up your magic to save my life, Stiles," Allison's brows furrowed and she shook her head. "You have nothing to apologize for. What the demon did wasn't your fault, nobody blames you for what the Nogitsune did. But you chose to give your magic for me, I don't know how to thank you."
She threw herself at him, hugging him close and tight, burying her face in his neck as she also started crying, her body shaking with her sobs. Stiles just sat stiffly in her arms. Why didn't she hate him? He had killed her. She should hate him. That was why they had left, after all.
"W… Why are you hugging me," Stiles asked unsure. "You hate me. You should hate me. You left. Because I killed you. You left to get away from me."
There were surprised gasps, but all Stiles could do was look at Allison with fear and confusion. "Stiles, no… We didn't leave because of you. We left because this town killed everyone in our family. My aunt, my mom, my grandfather – they may not have been good people and they have brought it upon themselves, but they were still our family. And now this town nearly killed me. K… Killed me, apparently. Isaac was the same, he lost his mom, his brother, his father. We left to get away before this town could also kill us. That wasn't about you."
"I wanted to take you with us," Chris added reluctantly. "I wanted to get you out of this town too, after what it had done to you. But you had your dad, you had… Scott, his pack."
Stiles flinched, this time not because of Chris' voice but because of the mention of Scott. "Yeah, well… that didn't last. What happened, what I did as the Nogitsune, it… it drove a wedge between us. We drifted more and more apart, gradually… And I get it…"
"Is… Is that why you pulled away from me? From us?" Lydia asked softly. "Because you thought we blamed you for what happened with Allison? Or for Allison leaving?"
Stiles shrugged and frowned, not looking at her. The next moment, he had Lydia, Malia and Kira hugging him tightly from three sides, clinging onto him. He sat there still and overwhelmed.
"Is that why you… what exactly happened even?" Boyd asked with a frown. "What happened?"
"Theo…" Stiles frowned, checking the others' faces to see if they knew who he was talking about. "Theo got into Scott's head, he gained Scott's trust to a degree that… that Scott trusted him more than me. I kept trying to warn him, for months I tried to warn him."
"We know," Lydia heaved a sigh, furrowing her own brows in guilt. "I'm sorry. We didn't… He was very charming, we thought you were… you were in a fragile state of mind."
"Paranoid," Stiles offered, raising his eyebrows at her. "I was paranoid. It's just that I wasn't paranoid about that. That was real. And… And Scott's not the only one into whose head he got. It was like Theo knew exactly where my weaknesses laid. It was so easy to believe him because he didn't say anything I wasn't already fearing myself. That Allison and Chris left because of me, hated me for what I'd done, that you hated me for what I've done, that I should give up on trying to find the Hales because I'd just be a burden, I was suck a fucking mess I'd just be too much work for anyone, that… that it would have been better if you'd just taken the Nogitsune out instead of trying to save me because then so many people would still be alive, Aiden would still be alive, I wouldn't have killed Allison, everything would have been better if you'd just killed me."
There was a near painful silence in the room, all eyes so unbearably heavy as they stared at him. Pained expressions, aborted motions, mouths opening and closing, lost for words.
"Stiles, we would have never given up on you," Chris' voice was steady and honest. "We would have always tried to save you, letting you die was not an option and you can't think-"
"It's okay," Stiles heaved a sigh and leaned back, resting his head against the couch behind him. "I know that. Now. But I'm telling you what happened two years ago. I… I know now that that was the survivor's guilt and the way Theo was gaslighting me, twisting me up. I went to therapy, you know. When dad and I lived in Toronto, I started seeing a therapist. I'm… I'm good, I mean better. Generally I am better, I'm not always such a fucking mess like I am right now. This is just all… a whole damn lot of triggers at once, okay? But I am in a… better place, overall."
"Toronto," Cora repeated, staring at him.
"Right," Stiles ran a hand over his face. "So, yeah. Theo was really getting into my head, and into Scott's head, and I was… barely part of the pack anymore already by the time he sent Donovan to kill me and I… killed Donovan in self-defense. But… Scott didn't believe me. Scott believed Theo over me, loaded it over my head that in his pack, we don't kill and it was… it was so loaded. It wasn't just about Donovan. It was about killing Peter, about our fight over how we should have killed Gerard for good the first time around, about Allison and Aiden. We've been drifting apart for a long time and so did our morals. I've never had a problem with killing if it was necessary, because sometimes it is necessary, and he… hated that. Everything has always been black and white for him. But once you've been possessed by a millennia old chaos demon, you gain a much better understanding for all the shades of gray in the world. And I already had a good grasp on it before."
Stiles relaxed a little, stretching his legs out in front of himself and stuffing his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket. "Donovan, when he was trying to kill me, talked about the way he was going to kill my dad and that's when I knew I had to get out. Because Theo sent Donovan. To intimidate me. If I didn't stop, Theo was going to have my dad killed and… most ikely, also get me killed. I… I didn't know what to do. Theo had effectively isolated me from pretty much everyone, Scott didn't trust me anymore, I thought you didn't trust me anymore, I had no means of contacting the Hale Pack, I… I didn't know what to do. I knew he wouldn't stop until we're dead, so… so we died. We faked out deaths and we left Beacon Hills."
Taking a shaky breath, Stiles relaxed a little more. "We made our way to Canada, very… very… slowly. I mean, we had to leave everything behind, so nobody would suspect we left. No money, no car, nothing but the clothes on our backs. So we hitchhiked, we walked, we… worked every odd job we could to make enough money to stay in motels. We stayed in some towns for a couple weeks, saving up, until we could finally afford a car. Shitty car that barely made it to Toronto."
Stiles was aware that he'd snuggled more into his jacket when talking about the clothes on their backs, he was also aware of the way Peter was watching him. "We lived in Toronto for the longest. Before we came here, to London. I've… I've only been doing odd jobs, waiting tables, customer service, grocery stores, anything I could get. That and, well, healing, I guess. Therapy and all that."
Heaving a sigh, Stiles tilted his head forward to look at Peter. "I didn't expect it to be you. The name caught my eye when I was looking for a job and it… made me feel nostalgic. But even when I read your first name, I still… I figured it was a coincident. What were the chances, after all. I didn't think you left the US, much less that you'd end up in England."
Sitting up, Stiles started tapping his fingers against his knee, a small grin spreading over his lips. "Guess it wasn't a coincident at all. While we were living in Toronto, when I… finally got to breath again without jumping at every sound I heard… When therapy started showing some effect, my Spark started… returning. Really weak, but I could feel it again for the first time."
Allison gasped softly and there were gentle and excited looks on the others' faces. Stiles rested a hand against his chest, like he was physically trying to grasp his Spark. He could feel it pulse.
"That's why we left Toronto," Stiles continued. "Because my Spark was pulling me to London. And now, I think, that my Spark's what drew me to that ad and made me go to that job interview."
"Are you saying your Spark likes me?" Peter offered a playful grin.
Stiles blinked at him with curious eyes. "Of course it does. It first ignited when I was part of the Hale Pack. My magic is inherently linked to your pack, so it was pulling me here."
"Oh," Peter swallowed and looked at him wondrously. "That… I didn't know that."
A shrug, and then Stiles averted his eyes again. "There's an interplay between the Nemeton, the Spark and the pack. I guess… Beacon Hills is now fully fucked, the Nemeton was already dying, the pack left and now its Spark left too… But yeah. The Hale Pack is the rightful pack of Beacon Hills and I'm the rightful Spark of Beacon Hills, so… we are tethered together."
Silence fell between them as everyone let things sink in. That was a lot to digest, on both sides. Stiles yawned and arched his back, causing it to crack in multiple places. This had been draining. His phone rang, the sound immensely loud in the silence of the farm house. Yelping, Stiles dug his phone out and accepted his dad's call and shit how much time had passed?
"Stiles," his dad sounded frantic. "Your job interview should have ended two hours ago, but I just got home and you're not here, it doesn't look like you were here at all and you didn't leave a note, please tell me you're just out somewhere celebrating your new job and you forgot to text me, because if something happened, if someone found you-"
"Dad, dad, slow down!" Stiles hunched over, wide-eyed. "I'm fine. I'm sorry. I'm fine. Nothing happened, nobody found me. Mischief's honor."
He could hear the relieved shutter of his dad's breath. It was their code. Mischief's honor, to make sure Stiles wasn't under duress and forced to lie. Stiles took a slow breath himself.
"Where are you, kiddo? When will you be home?"
"I… uh…" Stiles blinked doe-eyed, looking around the tense pack. "I kinda… ran into some friends. I don't know when I'll be home. I'll text you before I leave, I promise. I'm sorry I worried you, I didn't mean to worry you. Kocham cię, tatusiu." [Polish translation: I love you, dad.]
That also relaxed his dad some. It always did. He knew Stiles was safe if he was comfortable speaking Polish. They had too many contingencies and codes. Paranoia still had its hold on them.
"I love you too, kiddo," John sighed. "Tell me how the job interview went, before we hang up?"
"Uhm…" Stiles tilted his head. "Honestly, I have no idea. My potential boss kinda threatened tearing out my throat and then kidnapped me, so mixed vibes?"
"Stiles," his dad barked out in distress. "Are you trying to kill me, son?"
"I'm sorry," Stiles laughed, loud and genuine. "I could not resist. Remember when I said it was a weird coincident that the guy's name was Peter Hale? Yeah, that was not a coincident. I'm with the Hales right now. The threatening was, uh, well, I mean he thought I was dead."
Silence and he could just imagine his dad rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Peter Hale? As in, Derek Hale's uncle? The guy who got us into this whole damn mess by turning Scott?"
"My apologies for that, sheriff," Peter called out loudly. "I spend every day regretting it."
Another beat of silence. "And you're really okay, kiddo?"
"Yeah," Stiles smiled, a real smile. "I promise. I'll text before I head back home. Mischief's honor."
The call disconnected and Stiles pocketed his phone again. The pack was looking at each other, having silent conversations with just looks. Derek and Peter did a full eyebrow conversation and fuck, Stiles had missed that. The Hale eyebrows. He couldn't help but smile.
"What are you guys doing here?" Stiles asked after another moment. "I mean, actually doing. Peter is a lawyer. But what about you all…? How… How have your lives been?"
"I am on my way to becoming a lawyer," Lydia smiled like a shark. "And my future father-in-law and my Alpha are fighting over who gets me in their firm."
Peter grumbled at that, glaring. "David can fuck right off. I'm your Alpha."
"Me and Boyd opened a café together," Kira smiled brightly. "Did you know that Boyd is a brilliant baker, actually? You have to come by some time, on the house!"
"Yeah?" Stiles grinned, looking between them. "What's it called."
Silence, awkward silence, before Boyd cleared his throat. "It's called Stiles' Sweets."
At that, Stiles actually had to blink some tears away. "Oh. I… Well, then I have to come by."
"I work there too, mostly waiting tables, barista work," Erica piped in before the atmosphere dropped. "No interest in being the boss, but having a lot of fun with the menu."
"You are a menace and should not be allowed near food," Allison pointed out dryly.
Erica flipped her off and threw a pillow at her, causing Allison to laugh and oh. They were friends now. Pack. This was new and strange to Stiles, but he still felt warm at it. At some of his favorite people actually getting along, being friends.
"I'm going to college," Malia straightened, looking proud.
"You are?" Stiles brightened and reached out to nudge her. "I'm so proud of you, I always knew you had it in you, girl. I'm sure you're rocking it."
Malia practically preened at his words, making Stiles smile even more. Allison smiled at him.
"I'm also going to college, I'm a business major. I want to open a store, for outdoors activities like archery and hunting. The Silver Arrow, it's gonna be named," Allison replied.
"We," Isaac pointed at himself, Derek, Cora, Jackson and Chris. "Work at the farm."
"So this isn't just a gig for more space to roam free? It's an actual farm?"
"Yeah," Derek grunted, proud look on his face. "We grow apples, we sell our chickens' eggs and our vegetables at farmers' markets in the city."
"That's awesome," Stiles grinned at him.
"How about food?" Cora suggested after a moment. "It's getting late."
There was an awkward pause in which Stiles didn't really know if he should excuse himself, before Erica and Malia wrapped their arms around him from either side and maneuvered him up and toward the very spacious, very beautiful kitchen. Guess he was staying for dinner.
"If you think we're letting you go again, you are mistaken," Erica whispered, nudging him. "We should have chloroformed and kidnapped you back when we left."
"You're so loving and kind, I feel so cherished," Stiles rolled his eyes.
"She isn't wrong," Peter spoke behind him, face and voice serious, his eyes filled with regret. "I should have insisted. I shouldn't have waited, I shouldn't have left you behind."
The rest of the pack started fussing around the kitchen, getting ingredients and pots and pans out and preparing dinner in what was clearly a daily routine. Stiles turned around to face the Alpha. Peter's arms were crossed over his face, a deep frown aimed at him.
"I would have resented you for it," Stiles replied honestly. "I had so much faith in Scott, so much loyalty toward him. And I had my dad and… and mom's… grave. I would have resented you if you'd tried to force me to leave back then. You did the right thing, Peter. You and your pack got out when you had to and you… promised me a chance. It's just that… it never came to that."
Stiles blinked back tears, swallowing a lump in his throat. "I wanted to wait, I endured it as long as I could, I… I kept hoping that you would come. But… I couldn't. I had to get out, I… don't think I would have survived until graduation. Either Theo would have killed me, or… well, or everything else would have killed me. I wasn't sleeping, I wasn't eating, I couldn't focus. I lost so much weight and I was… really losing my mind, I think my body would have given in before graduation."
It was harsh, but he knew it was the truth. Something clattered behind him and he didn't care to see the despair on the pack's faces. He kept his eyes on Peter's hand. The wedding band.
"We should have noticed," Lydia's voice was filled with pain and guilt.
"I did everything I could to cover it up," Stiles shrugged. "And I did pull away from you. I don't blame you for not rescuing me, Lydia. That wasn't your job. That was nobody's job. I had to rescue myself. And I think… I really do think that I needed to do that myself, because with the Nogitsune, I had all my agency taken from me. I needed to regain control. And I did."
"And we're proud of you for it," Chris spoke, keeping his voice soft.
Still trying not to spook him, which… fair enough, considering his earlier reactions. Stiles winced, rubbing his face. He turned around, away from Peter, so he could face Chris. Damn. That man aged like fine wine in the past two years, much more gray in his hair, fully owning the silver fox look. Broader shoulders, stronger arms, which made sense with the physical labor around the farm.
"I really thought you'd hate me," Stiles frowned at him. "But you… really didn't leave because of me, huh? I'm sorry. It was just… It was easier to believe that you hated me than to think you could forgive me, because I couldn't forgive myself and I… hated myself, for a long time. Maybe still hate myself a little bit, but considerably less than I did back then."
Chris heaved a sigh, a sad and devastated sound, as he stepped up to Stiles. "Can I hug you?"
That gave Stiles pause, but after a moment he gave a reluctant nod. He gasped softly when he was pulled into a broad, strong chest, arms tight around him. It took him a second to return the hug, but damn did this feel good. It also reawakened stupid, old feelings. Feelings that had grown after Peter and Derek had left, when Chris had become the sole adult voice near the McCall Pack. Still deeply in love with Allison, Scott had consulted Chris a lot, trying to show his respect for the man. And due to that, Stiles had worked together with Chris a lot, growing closer. Falling for the older man.
"We're all very proud of you, Stiles," Chris whispered, voice rough and breath hot against Stiles' neck. "For working through your trauma, for getting out all on your own. We're proud of you."
And just like that, Stiles started crying. Tears of relief and joy and confusion. And Chris simply held him, stroking his back through it until Stiles was calmed down again, and even after. Once Stiles regained his bearings, he gently tapped Chris' arm, at which the man reluctantly let him go.
"What about your fake name," Allison asked once things were calmed down. "The Stiliyan, because you could nickname it to Stiles. Which… Which is why Peter picked you to get a job interview. When we were going through the applications, yours stood out because it made us think of, well, of you, and… that made Peter nostalgic. But what about your last name?"
"Mom's maiden name," Stiles grinned weakly. "Not the best kind of fake name, I know, I know, but… but I had to sacrifice Roscoe and we had to leave the place where she is buried and… we wanted to take a part of her with us. Our first names are fake, we figured that'd be enough."
Chris rested a hand on his shoulder, gently guiding Stiles to sit at the very large dining table. Cora and Kira were setting the table, while Derek was filling wine glasses. Peter took a seat to one side of Stiles, sitting close. Close enough that Stiles could feel the heat radiating off the wolf. There was a tenseness to his body, like the Alpha was holding back something.
"You can scent-mark me if you want," Stiles offered after a moment.
Peter startled, looking like he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. "Are you sure?"
"I can see how much you want to," Stiles huffed amused. "It's… been a while since I had a wolf want to scent-mark me last, but if you want to, you can."
The tension seeped out of Peter as he reached out, running a hand through Stiles' hair, down his arm, resting it in his neck. Damn, Peter was not being subtle or short. Apparently, the Alpha really had the urge to scent mark him. That should not make Stiles feel as pleased as it did. He really thought he had gotten over his infatuation with Peter, back when he started falling for Chris, or at least in Toronto, when he had been with a girl, who had been so sweet.
"I really hope you're not limiting that offer to Peter," Chris chuckled, motioning at the counters and stove. "Because the betas look ready to burst and if you deny them they just might."
Stiles followed the motion with his eyes, noticing how Derek, Cora, Malia, Boyd, Erica, Isaac and even Jackson were looking at him like he was the juiciest steak they could imagine. It made Stiles grin, his heart skipping a beat and a warmth unfurling in his chest.
"How about this, after dinner, we have a big puppy pile and everybody gets to scent the Stiles however much they want?" Stiles offered amused. "But after dinner, because I am actually starving. I haven't eaten all day, I was way too nervous this morning and we kind… missed lunch."
Peter growled lowly and Chris grunted displeased and Stiles looked between them startled. What?
"You shouldn't skip meals, Stiles," Peter glared at him.
Stiles rolled his eyes at that. "Yeah, believe me, I know. Took me long enough to regain the weight I lost over the Nogitsune. I didn't mean to skip breakfast, but I have a system. I carry cereal bars with me and I do… I rather skip a meal when I know my nerves are just going to make me throw up. So, the plan was to get through the job interview, eat my cereal bars and then have lunch somewhere. Didn't get around to steps two and three there due to the minor kidnapping happening."
To his amusement and surprise did Peter actually look guilty at that. How adorable. Leaning closer, Stiles bumped shoulders with Peter, trying to ease some tension. This was going to take some getting used to. For too long, his dad had been the only one to care about him. Now, there seemed to be people in his life again who cared about him and judging by the way they were all looking at him, they were not going to let him slip away again.
/break\
Chris grunted as he hefted a crate of apples up. He turned around with it, rolling his eyes when he saw Allison, Lydia and Kira all sitting together and watching them. Lydia's eyes were glued to Jackson, delighted to see her fiance do physical labor, while Kira was more subtle in sneaking glances at Malia, flushing every time she felt like she got caught. Allison grinned at her dad, waving. Her and Lydia were technically doing school work and Kira was working on the work schedule for her café. Meanwhile, Erica, Boyd and Malia were helping out at the farm right now. They always did when it was time for harvest, because in the end, it was their family business.
Chris took a deep breath. That still felt good to think. That he had a family again. Not just through his husband, with their daughters. But being the Alpha Mate, he had developed a whole different kind of appreciation for a wolf pack, unlike how he had felt toward the McCall Pack. These betas? They were his betas, they were his family. They'd helped him recover.
"Stiles texted," Lydia called out delighted.
It made Chris snort, the way all betas immediately perked up. Ever since Peter had run into Stiles last week and a half, they were all pretty much obsessed with the boy. At least two betas managed to see Stiles every day, they had lured the boy back to the farm once already for dinner, Stiles had gone to have lunch three times at Stiles' Sweets over this past week. Quite frankly, Chris was impressed by their self-control. Every night, Chris had to fight Peter on how much the Alpha wanted to go and just drag Stiles into their den and not let him leave. Last time Stiles was over for dinner, on Saturday, the Alpha – and his betas too – hadn't wanted to let the boy go again.
"Well, don't keep us in suspense," Jackson growled, nuzzling her neck.
Partially to be close to his mate, partially to look over her shoulder at her phone. It made Chris chuckle, the way the betas were practically circling Lydia, waiting for more information.
"He said that him and his dad would love to come over for dinner on Friday."
"Yes," Erica actually fist-bumped the air.
"At which part do we show him his bedroom and then just lock him into it?" Malia asked.
"No," Allison gave her step-sister a glare. "We are not doing that, Mal. We talked about it."
"We did," Malia nodded. "And I still don't agree with your point of view. The whole pack lives in this house. But Stiles has only been over twice. I only saw him four times in the past ten days, that's just not enough. That's wrong. He needs to be here."
Erica, Boyd, Isaac and Cora sat down in front of them on the ground, with Erica leaning against her mate and putting her feet into Cora's lap. Boyd's fingers gently carded through Erica's curls.
"And we all agree with you on that, Mals," Erica assured her, heaving a long-suffering sigh. "I just want to hug him and never let go, now that we know he's alive. It's like I'm afraid that it was just a nice dream after all, every time he leaves again, that we won't get to see him again."
"But," Kira redirected, pressing a soothing kiss to Malia's cheek. "Stiles has been through a lot and we don't want to push him. We want to ease him into this, into joining our pack."
Shaking his head, Chris walked past the betas, leaving them to their debate – a debate Chris has had with both Malia and Peter repeatedly over the past week, father and daughter very much agreed on their preferred method of keeping Stiles. Inside the house, he found his husband, sitting in the living room on the fur in front of the fireplace, his laptop on his thighs. He wasn't working though, he was very clearly listening in on the betas' debate outside.
"Babe," Chris grunted, sitting down next to Peter and wrapping his arms around the Alpha's waist. "No, we are not kidnapping Stiles and keeping him."
A grumble that had no right to be as cute as it was came from the wolf. "You are no fun, Christopher. He is alive. He is here. He should be ours."
Not like Chris could argue that. Losing Stiles was what had driven the two of them together. They'd cried and screamed and fought – physically fought – blaming each other for not getting their boy out of there. Heated kisses with more biting than tenderness had followed. Rough sex that was more hate sex than genuine passion for each other. Over the following months, that hate sex turned into something filled with love, as the two held each other through the loss. They both had been in love with Stiles, still were, a traitorous part of Chris' brain supplied, and they had lost him. That loss had made Chris and Peter who they were now, had brought them together.
"I love you, Christopher," Peter spoke fiercely, pressing a kiss to his temple. "I can see your thoughts on your face and him being alive does not change anything between us."
The smallest smile played on Chris' lips as he nodded. "Okay. But it does change something, doesn't it? Seeing him again, seeing him alive, having him in our home, with our pack…"
"It does," Peter admitted, leaning back against Chris' chest. "But I'm… As selfish as I may be, I don't need him to be mine, I just need him to be back in my life."
"Not need, but want?" Chris asked, a small, teasing smile on his lips.
He nuzzled Peter's neck, the Alpha shuddering in his arms. "Of course."
Of course. Chris chuckled, relaxing against his husband. Of course.

Stiles was eager as they drove onto the farm. Giddy. Coming here, even though this was only the third time he was actually at the farm, felt like coming home. It shouldn't and the intensity of it was near scary to Stiles, but oh it did. Ever since Peter had kidnapped him to the farm for the first time, not a day had passed without him interacting with someone from the pack. They'd gotten his number, during their puppy pile after dinner, and they texted him daily. They put him into their pack group chat and Stiles tried not to see any implications in that.
Stiles' Sweets was beautiful, Kira's touch was all over the place and the food Boyd made was delicious and Erica, whenever not busy with a customer, would be so stupidly cute with Boyd. Her hair was shorter than it used to be, while Boyd actually had hair now, wearing it in chin-long twists, stubble dusting his strong jawline. They'd grown up. And they were happy. Not just with each other, though they were so clearly so deeply in love and Stiles just knew that Boyd was hiding an engagement ring somewhere, waiting for the perfect time, but they were also happy where they were. With their business, their pack, the place in their life.
And Kira! Kira had gained so much confidence, she loved her business so much and if possible, she had become even more badass. On Tuesday, Stiles, Kira and Lydia had taken out a ghoul together and it had felt exhilarating. For so long, he'd avoided all supernatural threats, fearing that it would just trigger him. But with his friends at his side? It was exciting.
He'd gone to the university library with Allison, Malia and Lydia and he might have fallen a little in love with that library. It was so big, so many books, urgh. Knowledge. He hadn't even realized how much he missed absorbing knowledge. He never stopped his research binges, but they were random, unfocused. This? This reminded him just how much he loved it, missed it.
Lydia, Erica, Cora and Allison were so busy planning Lydia and Jackson's wedding and they'd shown him all the folders and plans on Thursday. Her dress, the venue, the cake. Every little detail meticulously planned because of course it was, this was Lydia Martin's wedding, after all.
He'd started talking to Jackson. Three days after his first visit at the farm, Jackson had called him. For a bunch of minutes, they simply shared silence. Before Jackson started talking. About the kanima, what that had been like and oh. For the first time, Stiles could talk to someone who understood. At the very least understood what it was like to have your body controlled by someone else, used to murder innocent people. Something in his chest eased at that. They'd been texting daily about the kanima and the Nogitsune since then and over the course of a week, Stiles started to feel such a close kinship with Jackson in a way he never expected.
Isaac and Derek bullied him into helping them on the farm, during his second visit. But it was actually fun. The three of them played around and he got to see them both laugh freely in a way he never had seen back in Beacon Hills. It made him realize just how much things had changed.
The toughest were Chris and Peter though. They had taken Stiles out to lunch four times, to dinner twice. Never together though. They hadn't brought up their marriage yet either. And it was impossibly confusing, because every time he went out with one of them, it felt like a date. Maybe that was just his hopeful mind, clouded by old feelings that came back with a vengeance.
"You're going to love it, dad," Stiles grinned as him and his dad got out of their car.
John looked skeptical, even as he surveyed the farm. "It looks gorgeous."
The grin on Stiles' lips widened. The two of them headed for the main house and even before Stiles could knock, Isaac opened the door. The blonde puppy grinned and immediately went to nuzzle Stiles, scent-marking him. Stiles hadn't realized how much he missed the casual affections of pack, but he relished how affectionate the pack was with him. Isaac grabbed his hand and dragged him into the kitchen, where the dinner table was already set and half the pack was comfortable while the other half was working on dinner. Stiles barely got through the door before the pups lounging about got up to scent-mark him, Boyd and Jackson shoving each other to get Stiles first.
"Stop fighting," Stiles laughed. "There is enough Stiles to go around for everyone."
"We wouldn't have to fight over it if you would just live here and we could scent-mark you every day," Malia growled displeased, rubbing her chin against his.
Stiles stilled between them, even more so when Peter growled low in warning at his daughter. Stiles didn't know what that meant. He really tried not reading anything negative into that growl, like Peter not wanting him in the pack. Thankfully, his dad noticed the tension and cleared his throat.
"My son's not the only guest you're having, you know."
"Sheriff," Chris forced a polite smile, reaching a hand out.
"Not the sheriff anymore," a thin smile on his dad's lips. "Mister Argent."
"Chris," Chris corrected. "First names, if you don't mind? Noah."
"John," his dad corrected bemused. "I got… very used to the name over the past years."
"John," Chris nodded, shaking hands with John. "Welcome to our home."
Stiles let himself be pulled down onto Jackson's lap, the former kanima resting his chin on Stiles' shoulder. If someone had told him five years ago, he would ever willingly sit on Jackson Whittemore's lap – well, okay actually he would have on account of his giant bisexual crush on the jerk, but still, the point stood. He grinned as he leaned against Jackson and reached out to run a hand over Cora's arm, scent-marking the youngest Hale.
"I made apple crumble for desert," Boyd noted. "You said you liked that when you were at the café earlier this week and we just harvested fresh apples yesterday."
Stiles perked up delighted. "Erica, you need to lock that down or else I will propose to him."
Boyd flustered and laughed. Hah. Stiles just knew the big guy was hiding an engagement ring somewhere. If he got a chance, he would be snooping around the house to find it. He smiled softly as he relaxed into the pack. It was so easy to feel comfortable and at home with them.

John heaved a deep sigh, his hands wrapped around his mug of coffee. He'd been up since five AM even though it was a Saturday and his day off. However, yesterday was still laying heavy in his stomach. Seeing Stiles with the Hale Pack was the first time in years – even before they'd left Beacon Hills – that he saw his son genuinely happy. Smiling in a way that lit up his eyes. The ease with which Stiles interacted with them too, the casual touches and caresses and straight up cuddling. He sat in Jackson Whittemore's lap for ten minutes before dinner and spent dinner pressed up against Derek Hale. After dinner, when everyone went to the living room for the apple crumble (the best damn apple crumble John had ever eaten in his life), Stiles had practically been passed around between the pack, the spots to his left and right changing people every five minutes. By the time the night ended, Stiles was on the floor in front of the couch, Peter and Chris on either side of him, their legs pressing up against his arms and he looked so content.
"Da—ad," Stiles drawled the word out when he entered the kitchen. "Is something wrong?"
"Sit down, son," John motioned at the other chair. "I think we need to talk."
They only had two chairs in their kitchen, because there was never another person. Stiles hadn't made friends since they got here, much less shown romantic interest in anyone. It had been just the two of them for too long now and yesterday had reminded him that it shouldn't be that way.
"What's wrong?" Stiles asked, looking tense now.
"Malia spoke about wanting to keep you at the farm yesterday," John spoke slowly. "I saw the look on your face, even while you were trying to hide it from them. That was… pure longing. You wanna live with them, don't you? I haven't seen you this happy in far too long."
"I…" Stiles wavered slightly. "I don't know. To be honest, I'm just… really overwhelmed by it all. I spent too long thinking that at least half them actively hated me. I didn't think I would ever see any of them again. I'm still… I'm still working my way through that? Learning to accept that they do want me in their lives, that they don't blame me for what the Nogitsune did?"
John's face twisted and he refrained from commenting on that. He'd spent too long trying to reassure his boy that it wasn't his fault, but Stiles accused him of parental bias. Maybe they could convince him. Hopefully they could convince him.
"Tell me what you're thinking, then," John prompted.
"I need more time," Stiles' eyes were sharp, thoughtful. "I… I think I do want to… I love the farm already, I love being with them. But I need more time with some distance to actually deal with this and with all these… feelings that they've stirred me. All the guilt and pain and… and love. Yeah. I can't deal with that if I were already living with them, but… I do think that's where it's headed."
"Okay," John nodded. "You'll tell me, when you realize you're ready?"
"Yeah," Stiles offered a small smile.
"Can we talk about the two middle-aged men you kept gravitating toward?"
Stiles stilled, looking at him like a deer caught in the headlights. "I don't know what you mean, I have been gravitating toward everyone equally yesterday, I literally sat in Jackson's lap and in Malia's and I was laying draped over Cora and Isaac."
"Mhmh," John pursed his lips, crossing his arms and leaning back. "None of them made you blush though. When you were sitting between Peter and Chris though, you looked… serene. And you did tell me about your feelings on them, don't think I forgot."
The past two years had brought them so close, they'd shared things with each other they may never have shared back in Beacon Hills. At one point, Stiles had opened up about his sexuality, about being bisexual, about how his dad's dismissal all those years ago had hurt him, about his feelings for Peter Hale and Chris Argent. Stiles had promised his dad that nothing had ever happened with either of the men, but that he had had feelings for them both. That Peter leaving had broken his heart and that Chris leaving had broken his heart all over again. That was the important part, the part he'd wanted to share with his dad. Loss, but in a different way.
"They're married," Stiles pointed out, looking at the table. "To each other."
"That's not an answer to my question," John pointed out, eyebrows raised.
"But it is," Stiles shrugged, raising his eyes to meet John's. "They're married to each other, I don't know, maybe if I had run into just Peter and the Hales, I would have… I might have tried my luck? I mean, I'm twenty, I'm a legal adult very much capable of making my own decisions. But Peter and Chris are married, so there's nothing there to pursue. I'm not a home-wrecker, dad."
"Would never accuse you of that, kiddo," John chuckled, shaking his head. "Forget it."
He wasn't going to push, not if Stiles couldn't see it himself. His son said he needed to digest all the feelings and memories that this had stirred in him, so John didn't want to rush Stiles. His boy was clever, sooner or later Stiles was going to notice the way Chris and Peter looked at him.
/break\
Tension in the Hale Pack was growing with every passing day. Peter was acutely aware of that, as the Alpha, but he also knew there was nothing he could do (regardless of how often Malia suggested to just keep Stiles). The betas kept seeking out Stiles more and more.
"You can not walk in there without an appointment, Mister Hale is very busy-"
Peter raised an eyebrow at the high voice of his new secretary. The door to his office opened and Stiles walked in like he owned the place, followed by said new secretary.
"It's fine, he can stay," Peter dismissed her. "Hello, Stiles."
Stiles grinned broadly and walked over to the desk, even as the secretary huffed and closed the door. Part of Peter had wanted to hire Stiles, just to have the boy close. The other part of him knew that he couldn't employ Stiles, that wasn't going to work out for him. Too distracting.
The boy climbed onto the desk, sitting there like it was the most natural thing in the world, his feet on Peter's chair, on either side of his lap, his knees temptingly apart. Peter raised an eyebrow at the cheeky Spark, but he wasn't one to miss an opportunity. He leaned forward, crossing his arms on Stiles' thighs, getting comfortable, hands resting on those tempting thighs.
"What can I do for you, Bambi?" Peter asked, looking up into those big doe-eyes.
"You can reign your puppies in," Stiles frowned, looking actually annoyed. "I am about one puppy away from losing my job. I like hanging out with the pack, breakfast, lunch dinner, meeting the girls on campus, going shopping, what have you. But lately, they've been loitering around at my place of employment. And that would be fine, if they were just there, eating and spending time there. But they keep trying to talk to me and my boss really doesn't like that while I'm on the clock. So. I need you to Alpha up and reign your puppies in before I lose my job."
Peter frowned displeased at that. "I will talk to them. But I can't make promises."
"You're the Alpha," Stiles snorted, motioning at Peter. "Do the sexy red eyes flashing and a bit of growling and tell them to stop costing me my job! My dad and I kinda need the money to afford the apartment, you know. Living in London is fucking expensive."
"You find the Alpha eyes sexy?" Peter raised one eyebrow, smirking immensely pleased.
A blush spread over Stiles' cheeks in a tantalizing manner while the boy rolled his eyes. "Not the point. You're the Alpha. Be a proper Alpha and make sure your pack behaves."
The leisure touch on Stiles' thighs tightened, squeezing just a little. Peter was startled by the moan it earned him, making him stare up at the Spark in stunned silence.
"I have sensitive inner thighs so if you could not squeeze them," Stiles muttered embarrassed.
Peter blinked at him, eyes red, but he removed his hands from Stiles. "I apologize."
He swallowed hard, the sweet, intoxicating scent of Stiles' arousal heavy in the air, especially considering Peter's place between Stiles' knees. Clearing his throat, Peter pushed his chair off and got up. Putting some physical distance between himself and Stiles.
"I can try to talk to them, but you must realize that even I can't make them go against their instincts," Peter raised his eyebrows at Stiles. "The entire pack lives together, spends their time in our shared space that smells like all of us. They only get to see you every other day. Their instincts don't like that, don't like not knowing where you are and if you're safe. You also keep gathering smells of other people, other places, and they get to scent you too infrequently for their liking."
He could hear the jump of Stiles' heartbeat. Peter stood beside his large bookshelf, watching his boy. Stiles furrowed his brows and drew his legs up, now sitting cross-legged on the desk. Still acting like he owned the damn place and it should not please Peter that much.
"So it's time we have this conversation, huh," Stiles whispered to himself.
He was fidgeting with his fingers and then looking at Peter. Expectantly. Peter raised an eyebrow.
"What conversation are we talking about here, Stiles?"
Stiles tilted his head. "The one you promised we'd have at my graduation."
It was Peter's turn to feel his heart jump in his chest. "Are you sure? I don't want you to feel pressured into it by my pack being… pushy."
A small smile spread over Stiles' lips and he shook his head. "I wanted to have this conversation since before I left Beacon Hills. I… did need some time, to myself, after I ran into you. But it's been a couple weeks now and I've talked things through with my therapist. I feel more… settled."
That made Peter nod slowly. "Stiles, I want you to be a part of my pack. Will you join?"
The way Stiles was beaming at him nearly took Peter's breath away and then the Spark bared his neck to him. "Yes, Alpha. I want to join your pack."
Peter was on him in less than a second, sinking blunt human teeth into that pale neck, biting him. Claiming him as Hale Pack. Peter breathed out hard through his nose as he felt the pack-bond with Stiles snap into place. It was so bright and so warm and a beautiful turquoise color.
"Fuck," Stiles gasped, collapsing forward against Peter, clinging onto him. "Holy shit."
"It's okay," Peter wrapped his arms around Stiles. "Just breath. I know it can be overwhelming."
To Peter, the one new pack-bond was intense, but for Stiles? Twelve new pack-bonds were either snapping into place or reigniting where they had been severed before. Stiles started shaking in his arms, sobbing into his chest. Peter gently caressed his back until the Spark calmed down some.
"I missed them," Stiles' breathing was still labored. "Derek and Boyd and Erica, it's been so long. Isaac and Allison and Lydia and Malia and Kira, I… I missed them… I missed them, I was so cold, Peter, I didn't realize it was because I was missing this warmth, I didn't…"
Stiles continued babbling on and Peter simply held him, kissing the top of his head. It took Stiles nearly half an hour to properly calm down and Peter had to send his new secretary away with a withering glare at one point, his appointments be damned. His new pack-mate was more important.
"That… was fucking intense," Stiles tilted his head, resting his cheek against Peter's chest.
"You know that you and your father wouldn't have to worry about the money for your apartment if you were to move to the farm," Peter offered after a moment. "Pack takes care of pack."
"My dad too?" Stiles looked up at Peter, unsure.
"Your father is more than welcome to be a part of this pack, if he wants to be, and to live at the den. Why don't you go and talk to him about this and then tell me what you decide, mh? Though… do expect to be smothered by the betas most likely as soon as you step out of this office."
"Oh yeah, I am bracing for that," Stiles snorted amused, rubbing at his chest. "I can… feel their excitement. Good thing I don't have any plans for the rest of the day."
/break\
Chris was in the orchards when Stiles found him, a day after the boy had joined the pack. The pack-bond had hit Chris like a brick-wall, to be able to feel Stiles in his soul was more overwhelming than with any of the betas. Peter had been so ecstatic when he got home last night, kissing Chris until the former hunter was breathless and then Peter started talking about sensitive thighs and things escalated into much more than just kissing.
"Can we talk, Chris?" Stiles asked when he approached the former hunter.
"Sure," Chris grunted, putting his crate down and turning toward the house.
Stiles grabbed his upper arm, shaking his head. "Not… where the nosy puppies are. C'mon."
Raising one eyebrow, Chris let Stiles lead him deeper into the apple orchard. Along the way, Stiles stole an apple from a branch, throwing it a couple times before taking a bite. Chris wondered what this was going to be about. Peter said that Stiles and his dad were going to talk about moving to the farm, but this wasn't something Stiles would share only with Chris, was it?
"I don't know how to do this in a non-awkward way, so…"
Stiles trailed off and then grabbed the hem of his shirt, pulling it off over his head. Chris froze, his brain going into all kind of dirty directions of pinning Stiles against the nearest tree and doing all the things him and Peter whispered about in their bed at night. And then his eyes landed on Stiles' chest, on the tattoo over the boy's heart. An arrow-head, and above and beneath it, We protect those who cannot protect themselves. Chris didn't know what to do with that, aside from being oddly turned on by seeing his family motto and a representation of himself on Stiles' chest.
"Ye—eah," Stiles cleared his throat awkwardly, scratching his neck. "I felt like we should talk about this first, before I move to the farm and it comes up unexpectedly because I'm eating breakfast in my boxers and you walk in. I, uh… I got it, after we left Beacon Hills. As a reminder of Allison, of… killing her. Sacrificing for her. Maybe partially to punish myself, but also to remind me of what I had overcome. But I realize it's… I figured you should know."
Chris swallowed hard, nodding. This was going to haunt him for months to come. He wanted to lick it. He needed to show it to Peter, oh this was going to drive the Alpha wild with jealousy. Thinking about it, Chris could imagine Peter taking a sharpie to Stiles to draw the triskele on him. The thought inexplicably made Chris laugh out loud, startling Stiles.
"Okay, not the reaction I was expecting," Stiles raised an eyebrow.
"Sorry," Chris chuckled and shook his head. "I just imagined Peter's reaction."
"Well, considering it made you laugh, I am hopeful it won't include him possessively ripping my throat out for having his husband's family motto on my chest," Stiles quipped.
Chris sobered up a little bit, clearing his throat. "No, it's more likely to make him use a sharpie and draw the triskele on you to make it even. He's a bit possessive."
Confusion passed over Stiles' face. "Yeah, hence the ripping throat out?"
"Of you," Chris corrected with gentle eyes. "He's a bit possessive of you, Stiles. Always has been."
"W… What," Stiles stared at him with those pretty, large doe-eyes.
"Damn, Peter's right you really are Bambi," Chris muttered beneath his breath. "Listen, you just said you want to move to the farm. And I think that there is something that you deserve to know before you move into a house with me and Peter. We have both been in love with you… longer than we've been in love with each other. I know you've been wondering on how we got together and we've so far ignored your curiosity, but you should know before you move in with us. We got together over our shared grief for you, because we were both in love with you. Still are."
Stiles stared up at him with even wider eyes – how was that physically possible? Even without being a werewolf, Chris could tell that Stiles' heart was doing overtime. He offered the boy a small, albeit sad smile before he took a step back, away from Stiles.
"I'll get back to my work. I didn't mean to overwhelm you," Chris offered softly. "I just wanted you to know, so you can make an informed decision. If this makes you uncomfortable, you and your father would still be pack even if you don't live at the farm with us, Stiles. All we want is have you in our life, that would be enough for us. Both of us."
/break\
"I just fucking froze," Stiles groaned, tilting his head back. "He told me that him and Peter were in love with me and I just froze and gaped at him like a stupid fish, dad! Ouch!"
John grunted, an amused look on his face. "I still think that this is an extreme reaction, son."
Stiles turned to throw his dad a deep glare. "You know me! I work in extremes. Ouch."
Another grunt and a shake of his head. John did appreciate that his boy trusted him and confided in him. That he'd decided to take John with him here. Though then John had been there for each one. He reached out for Stiles' hand, taking it. Running his thumb over the tattoo on his wrist.
"And you're really okay with it?" Stiles asked in a small voice. "All of it, I mean? Living with them, both of us living with them, and me… maybe… being with them? You're okay with it?"
"Stiles," John heaved a sigh. "I love you, kiddo. With all my heart. All I want is for you to be happy. And ever since they got back into your life, you have been… so much brighter than in years. If they can make you happy, I will not judge. But if they ever hurt you, I will hunt them down."
A broad grin spread over Stiles' lips as he looked at his dad. "I wouldn't expect any less."
/break\
Stiles was giddy and excited and nervous when he carried a box of his belongings into the farm house. The rest of his pack – his pack – was carrying the rest of his and his dad's stuff inside. While they were laughing among themselves, talking and busy with their task at hand, Stiles wandered upstairs in search of their Alphas. He might have been impulsive, after Chris' confession yesterday, but he'd been in love with them for so many years. He hadn't spoken to Chris and Peter yet, too busy packing the last of their belongings and also getting his surprise done. They let the lease run out, it didn't even matter to them, they could finally leave their apartment behind and move into a real home, filled with warmth and family and pack. And with the men Stiles loved.
He—ey," Stiles knocked on the master bedroom and then entered. "You guys hiding from me?"
"Well," Peter cleared his throat. "Christopher told me about your conversation and we… didn't want to pressure you into an answer of any kind. We're just glad you're here."
"Honestly, I didn't know what to say yesterday," Stiles admitted, flustered. "I've been dreaming about that for so long, it felt too unreal when it happened – unreal in a good way. I've been… I've been in love with you two for so stupidly long. Oh and, uhm, Chris gave me an idea yesterday and you know me, I am impulsive and all of that, but it felt fitting even in a broader sense I mean I am now Hale Pack, after all, so I got this and I hope that's not too weird but-"
He grabbed the hem of his shirt to lift it up enough to show the triskele set over his hip-bone. The growl from Peter was darker, louder and more primal than anything he'd ever heard before. It startled Stiles so much, he jumped a little. The next second, he was pinned against the closed bedroom door, the Alpha all up in his face, fangs and red eyes and all.
"You can't just put an Alpha's symbol on you like that," Peter growled. "You have no idea-"
"I do," Stiles held Peter's gaze, grinning a little. "Did you not hear the part where I said that I'm stupidly in love with you guys? I mean it. And I know."
Peter rested a shaky hand over the see-through film on top of the still very fresh and raw tattoo. Peter's claws were out too and it shouldn't thrill him that much. Stiles tilted his head to the side, a broad, cheeky grin on his lips. The Alpha buried his nose in it, inhaling deeply. Peter pressed a hungry kiss to Stiles' lips, leaving the boy breathless. Stiles' hands pawed at Peter's chest near desperately, his cheeks flushed when they parted.
"Peter," Chris growled annoyed. "Learn to share."
With a grumbling noise did Peter step aside enough to allow Chris to also crowd Stiles against the door and damn yeah, Stiles was definitely into getting cornered by them and stuck between them, this was fun. He rested one hand on each of their chests while Chris kissed him hungrily.
"Stiles," Derek called out from upstairs. "Where the hell are you. We got your stuff."
A shit-eating grin spread over Stiles' lips. "Just bring it to the master-bedroom."
Both Peter and Chris gave him surprised but hungry and pleased looks at that. Stiles grinned broadly, leaning against the door as the feeling of being home fully settled in, here, in their arms.

Chapter Four: Final Chapter.
Tumblr media
A drive to Mexico was definitely on my date list but not to save a kid from becoming a “monster.”  Derek has been silent the whole trip, hand on my thigh while I play with his fingers. I could tell that he was worried, there was nothing we could do as humans besides shoot things, I guess that’s why Derek had a handgun in my lap.
It made me nervous, having a weapon in my lap. Something about the thought of killing someone or something is making my stomach turn in knots, not in a good way. But this was Derek’s pack in some way, he'd deny it if I said it out loud, but he was never made to be a lone wolf. His mom, his sisters wouldn't want him to end up all alone. I wouldn't want him to be alone.
“It’s okay, Scott is strong.” I finally spoke and I could see Derek’s eyes glance at me before focusing back on the road, his hand squeezed my thigh in response.
"Derek...please say something." I pleaded, I hadn't heard his voice in hours, and it put me on edge. Were we really going to be okay without any supernatural abilities?
"You'll be safe. I promise." His hand moved away from my thigh and gripped my hand, our fingers lacing together. Then there was silence again...
When we got close to the temple there was a lot of people, hunters I was assuming. Derek stopped the car a bit further away, the breath he was holding in finally left his lungs. That was when he looked at me, his hand gripping the gun tightly before placing it in my hands.
“Keep yourself safe, don’t leave the car. Promise me.” He was looking directly into my eyes, and I could see the silent plea in them.
‘Don’t leave me, don’t die.’
I nodded. Somehow, I knew that if something happened to him, I would run in without a thought, I knew that he knew that too. But he didn’t make me say that promise, he sealed my lips with his instead. It felt different, not like our usual kisses that sent a delicious sensation up my spine. It felt like a good-bye.
When he pulled back, he moved me into the backseat, making me lie down and covering me with a blanket. It was hard to breathe, an elephant sitting on my chest that got heavier with each soft caress of my skin from him.
He lifted his hand away from me and I instinctively grabbed it. My heart was pounding in my ears, adrenaline rushing through my veins.
"You have to promise to be safe too, I can't lose you. I just got you back, Derek. Please." He smiled slightly, leaning down, and pecking my lips.
"You know I struggle to keep promises. But...how about I promise to come back to you, no matter what. I will come back to you, I promise." I nodded; I was satisfied with that. He will come back; he will come back. I repeated that to myself over and over again.
Then his hand left me, the door of the car closed and then there was silence. A deafening silence. His presence wasn’t there to keep me company, to keep my mind away from all the terrible things that could happen to the kids. That could happen to him. I started to count the seconds…
1…2…3…
I heard the voices in the distance getting louder…
4…5…6…
There were several gun shots going off…
7…8…9…
I sat up, looking in the distance at the temple. There stood a blonde in front of Derek, but then she changed. Shifted into something that I didn’t recognize, then she pounced on him. I screamed, banging on the car door, and pulling on the handle to try and open it but it wouldn’t budge. Without thinking I lifted my legs, kicking the back window as hard as possible. I kicked and kicked, then finally it launched off the car and I crawled out.
I ran towards them, my heart pounding in my ears. I was too late. Derek laid there bloody, his hand on his stomach and breathing heavily with the woman, the monster in front of him. It was like it sensed me, it turned around and that was when my blood ran cold.
“Kate…” Her eyes roamed all over me, a chill going up my spine as she grinned.
“Hey bestie, long time no see.” As she stalked towards me, I held up the gun, she paused and feigned a sad look.
“Really? A guy over your best friend? What happened to letting me have him?” I gritted my teeth; I remembered that promise. That she had liked him for longer than I did, so I was a good friend and promised to help them get together. After hearing what she did, I’ve regretted that every single moment. I hate her.
I hate her.
One gun shot went off.
Then two, then three. I saw red, I didn’t stop firing as she bolted towards me, she tackled me, and we went to the ground. Her sharp claws were digging into my skin, holding my arms in place.
“You’re such a bitch, fucking backstabber. You shot me over a guy!” I moved my legs and kicked her off me, getting up and hitting her in the face with the gun, she growled and pounced for me again. I punched her in the face, managing to catch her off guard and making her stumble back. I had a lump in my throat, Derek was dying or already dead because of her. His family was dead because of her, I felt something in myself snap as I walked towards her. I picked up the gun again and pointed it at her. No, not her.
This wasn't the Kate I knew; the Kate I knew was fake. She was never my friend, she used to me get close to Derek. To kill him and his family, I will never forgive her for that. I hope she burns in the deepest depths of whatever hell the afterlife has to offer. I hope the Hale family gets to watch her beg for forgiveness before she burns for the rest of eternity, so she can feel what she did to them.
But before I could pull the trigger a dark shadow slammed into her, knocking her to the side. I looked down and saw a wolf standing in front of me, growling at her. I took the chance to look over where Derek was, but to my surprise he was gone.
"Derek?" The wolf huffed as I called out his name, suddenly my grief left my body. He didn't die, he was standing right in front of me. As a wolf.
The wolf, Derek, lunged at Kate. I felt my rage turn into happiness, but a smile took over my lips.
“That’s what you deserve, bitch.” I spat out, watching as he tore her apart. I hoped his family was proud of him, he finally got revenge for the things she did to them. May they now rest in peace.
When it was over, Derek shifted back. I blinked a few times, then red decorated my cheeks. He was naked, completed naked. Though I didn’t have long to admire him, his arms were around me before I could shout at him to cover up. My face was buried in his chest, breathing in his delicious and familiar scent.
“I’m glad you’re safe.” He whispered to me, his hands finding a way under my shirt. His fingers gripping my bare waist tightly. I smiled.
“I’m glad you’re alive and…a wolf?” I glanced up at him, he had a wolfish grin on his face. He has clearly gotten his werewolf abilities back and was ecstatic about it.
“I evolved.” He leans down, kissing my neck.
“Derek…what about Scott?” I bit my lip, his touch was driving me crazy, but we were here for the kids. Not to get his wolf abilities back and then fuck.
“Over here.” I looked over at the entrance to the cave and sighed in relief, there were the kids. Scott, Stiles and two girls that I didn’t recognise but was nevertheless happy to see safe.
“Good.” Without a second thought Derek picked up and threw me over his shoulder, I laughed and screamed a goodbye to the kids who were all fake gagging and laughing.
When we arrived back at the loft, Derek pinned me against the door and kissed me. I let out a moan against his lips, his tongue invading my mouth as soon as my lips parted. His one hand gripped my hair, the other ripping my jeans down the front. His lips moved down to my neck, leaving hickey after hickey on any exposed skin he could find.
“I’ve been waiting for this.” He growled into the crook of my neck, his hands gripping my thighs and lifting me up against the door.
"I don't believe you." I grinned, a defiant look in my eyes as he stared down at me.
"Show me how much you want this."
His eyes changed colour, that deep blue that I saw in the wolf’s eyes appeared and that’s when I knew I was in trouble. With one swoop he ripped my underwear off and lifted me up further, my thighs rested on his shoulders before he buried his face between them.
His tongue flattened against my slit, moving up towards my clit. He let out a low groan, his fingers digging into my thighs.
“Already so wet for me, huh love?” He looked up at me, his tongue swirling around my clit like he was licking the icing off of a cupcake. The way he held me close, the soft groans and growls he let out was driving me more insane than his tongue. My fingers tangled themselves in his hair tugging on them as his tongue moved down to my entrance, my eyes rolling back as he pushed it in.
“Derek!” His right hand gripped my ass and smacked it hard, a loud moan leaving my lips after the contact. His tongue moved expertly inside me, brushing all the right places just as his left hand decided to join his mouth. His index finger found my clit, circling it. Playing with the sensitive bud. Each little movement building me higher until-
He pulls back. I looked down at him in a daze, my chest heaving but not as much as it should be.
“You wanna tease me? Then you only get to cum on my dick.” I was about to protest when he gripped my thighs again, he walked over to his bed and threw me down on it. I left out a little huff and sat up to protest again, that was when his hand wrapped around my throat.
“I know you want to be good for me, so take off my jeans and boxers. I promise to make you cum if you listen.” A shot of arousal went through my body, he sounded so commanding, and I loved it. I loved having him take control.
My hands made quick work of his jeans; the palm of my right hand pressed against his bulge. He let out a low moan, his eyes focused on me as I leaned forward. I could tell he was aching to be inside me, that he probably hasn’t slept with someone in a while. I pulled down his boxers and kisses his tip, licking it lightly which made him hiss and push me down onto the bed. I was pinned, his hand around my throat.
“You are so much of a tease, you know that?” His free hand pushed my thighs apart, “Keep them open, you move them, and I will stop.”
Despite the rough tone he took on, he lightly pressed his tip against my entrance. My breath hitched in the moment, having him slowly push into me felt like I had reached euphoria. His teasing from earlier made me eager and sensitive, he knew that. I could see that he enjoyed the look of pure lust on my face, he leaned down with his free hand propping him up as he began to thrust.
“Fuck…you feel so good around me.” His grip on my throat tightened, restricting just enough oxygen to my brain to make me see stars with each stroke from his dick. He reached heavenly places inside me, knowing how to angle each thrust to hit that delicious spot that had me moaning his name like a prayer.
“Derek…please…” I managed to stutter out a plea as the pleasure continued to build up in my body, that was when his hand left my throat and found it’s way to my lower back. He lifted me up easily and started to thrust faster, practically pounding into me. I clung to him, my nails dragging down his back. Another groan left his lips as he kissed and nipped at my neck, his muscles tightening under his touch.
“Together baby…” I barely held in a scream as I met my climax, my vision blurring while my mind was filled with fog. But I felt it, his seed releasing inside me before his hips stilled. Oh, and it was the most mind-blowing feeling, being claimed as his in such a way.
We were both silent for a moment, only the sound of us breathing filling the air. Then he laid on his side, his arms pulling me with him. He cradled me against him, one hand in my hair and the other wrapped securely around my waist. His thumb drew shapes on my hip, his lips pressing lingering kisses on my jaw and cheek.
“Are you okay?” He spoke softly, as if not to disturb the tender moment that we were having.
“You mean…after the amazing sex or everything else that happened today?” He chuckled, his fingers lifting my chin so that our eyes met.
“Both.” I smiled.
“Yeah…I’m just really happy that we didn’t lose each other again.” He leaned in, resting his forehead against mine.
“Me too. But you know you’re mine now, right?” I laughed, my hands cupping his face.
“You suck at asking people out, Hale.” He raised an eyebrow.
“I bought you books, took you to Mexico and fucked you good. How do I suck?”
“Okay…fine, it was pretty great besides the part where I thought you died.” I pushed him onto his back and straddled his waist, looking down at him. “But ask me properly.”
“Will you be my girlfriend?” He smiled up at me, his hands on my hips. He knew I couldn’t resist him when he smiled.
“I thought you’d never ask.” I laughed and leaned down, sealing our long-awaited relationship with a kiss.
THE END.

just gonna jump the gun on the ask game - 01 for our favorite teen wolfs
OH LETS GOOOOO this took me a while to answer because i have been formulating . i've been ideating. none of this will be a shock . but i have so much to say.
001 | Send me a fandom and I will tell you my:
Favorite character: DEREK HALE completely unsurprisingly. Literally from season 1 episode 1. I love him so much.
Least Favorite character: THEO RAEKEN Even in my rewatch I didn't like him, which makes him okay as a villain but I don't even really like him as a villain. also started my teen wolf rewatch when i was rewatching pll and kept calling him mike.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): STEREK literally from day 1 also. The only fic i read for teen wolf is sterek. SCISAAC also from the first time i watched the show. there's something so special to me about scott and isaac together i love them so much STALIA i didn't actually like them together when i first watched the show but rewatching it??? holy shit. they were so so so so good for each other and it broke my heart when they broke up. one of the scenes in s5 where malia says she knows stiles had to kill one of the chimeras but 'it didn't matter' /didn't affect how much she cared about him so she didn't bring it up??? holy shit. that paired with 'i would never leave without you' GOD I LOVE MALIA TATE STYDIA spoilers for a show that ended in 2017 but i did in fact cry when they ended up together. dont forget i love you?? bitch im going to scream ALLYDIA i got one of my friends to start teen wolf and they sent me a message like midway through season 1 and said 'do people ship allison and lydia?" and the answer is yes. me. i'm people.
Character I find most attractive: DEREK HALE also 'character most frequently covered in blood' and 'character most likely to be in distress'
Character I would marry: DEREK HALE i mean. come on.
Character I would be best friends with: ISAAC LAHEY he is SO important to me and i loved him even more with rewatching the show. someone please be nice to him.
a random thought:
An unpopular opinion: I FUCKING LOVE SCOTT MCCALL . i know a lot of people dont! i understand! but i love him so much. scott is probably my second favorite character in the show. he is . chefs kiss. a lot of that also comes from loving tyler posey. + i am GENUINELY excited for the movie. I know most people are not! i am. if you ask yourself 'who asked for this movie?' the answer is tumblr user stilinskiderek. i asked.
My Canon OTP: STALIA not a ship that lasted but my favorite canon ship ever. i loved them together so so much and i missed their dynamic in season 6
My Non-canon OTP: SCISAAC HEAR ME OUT i know i have a sterek url i also love sterek BUT i think Scisaac could've been made canon so easily whereas sterek couldn't have. I GENUINELY think if Isaac was a female character he would've ended up with Scott. Their personalities worked so so well together and I really think they could've been canon!!!
Most Badass Character: DEREK HALE like for the sheer number of times this man has brushed death and survived. jesus CHRIST.
Most Epic Villain: VOID!STILES the other characters having to fight with a person they were FRIENDS WITH?? stiles is scott's BROTHER like holy SHIT. god. the emotional turmoil. dylan obrien killed it. the divine move is one of my favorite episodes of the entire show.
Pairing I am not a fan of: DRAEDEN it just felt...out of nowhere? and kind of weird? i think because season 4 was when hoechlin wasn't a series regular anymore so derek wasn't a key character in every episode it felt like their relationshp was super rushed and just. didn't fit either one of their characterizations.
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): DEREK HALE i could talk about this until the cows come home. i think that derek was not treated with any sort of importance despite being a main character, and i don't think the literal trauma and abuse he suffered at the hands of kate argent was ever properly addressed. a lot of his actions and the way he treats people are obviously based in that experience but there was absolutely NO attempt at resolving it or even really acknowledging it. It should've been something, especially in season 4 with kate coming back, but it wasn't. i'm never going to not be mad about it. in that same vein, i think derek and isaac's relationship could've been way more impactful if the writers gave a fuck about derek. with the other hale betas in s2, jackson, erica, and boyd all have 'real'/biological families they can go home to. jackson's might not be great but he still has somewhere else to go. the only person isaac had was derek, which puts derek begrudgingly into this older brother/dad role for isaac that could've been incredible HAD THE WRITERS DONE ANYTHING WITH IT!! clearly isaac is living in the loft with derek but ?? that's all we ever get. what could've been a really great found family moment was absolutely nothing, and watching the scene in s3 where derek is terrified of the alpha pack coming for him TO THE POINT WHERE HE SENDS ISAAC AWAY TO KEEP ISAAC SAFE makes me so mad because if that relationship had been developed that scene would've been even MORE heartbreaking. isaac is being sent away by the only person he has in the world and that hurts but derek should've also been hurting because he's trying to protect this kid he took in but he can't explain it to him and i just. it could've been the bella/charlie scene in twilight but it wasn't!!!
Favourite Friendship: SCOTT/STILES stiles has scott's back through literally everything and god the scene in motel california with the flare breaks me every single time.
Character I most identify with: LYDIA okay this was hard for me to answer because i identify with a lot of them but in different ways?? then i remembered one time my friend sophie asked me to pick a teen wolf sun/moon/rising sign which i think fits this question. my rising sign is Scott, my moon sign is Lydia, and my rising sign is Malia. I think out of all of them I identify the most with Lydia!! i love her.
Character I wish I could be: DANNY I just want to be adjacent to all of the chaos and observe from afar. the way he knew about the werewolves because nobody can whisper in beacon hills is so special to me. i also love that he's the singular side character who was not made supernatural and did not die, just vibed the entire time.

Bloody Carpets
This is my entry for @nicole-lynne ‘s 350 followers challenge. I had Derek Hale and the line “You’re bleeding all over my carpet.” I didn’t really describe the reader so I hope it can be read as either a guy or a girl. Enjoy.
Characters: Derek Hale, Chris Argent, Malia Tate, Scott McCall, Isaac Lahey, Reader. (Lydia, Stiles and the rest of the pack are mentioned).
Derek leans back in his chair before setting his legs on the table in front of him. It had been quiet in Beacon Hills lately, minus a few new supernatural beings who moved in though they hadn’t caused any trouble to his knowledge. Scott hadn’t needed him yet for anything, so he’s gotten bored despite to increased numbers of hunters also living in BH with them. He put his arms behind his head, closing his eyes with a small sigh escaping his lips. Chris Argent had his hands full attempting to keep what Gerard had done before his death. Cora never returned, choosing to stay in South America where she wouldn’t be hunted or harmed at every turn. Isaac recently returned from France after training with the Argents there, becoming both a hunter and staying a werewolf in the mix. Scott and Stiles often worked with the sheriff’s office, though Stiles still worked for the FBI and was often gone on cases. Lydia began working at the school in order to keep an eye on the younger creatures, not because she didn’t trust them but rather she worried about them. Malia decided more recently to work with Deaton at the pet clinic without giving her reasons as to why. Jackson returned permanently to BH with Ethan so they could help Scott with the sudden influx of beings coming here. Cory, Hayden, Liam, and Mason were currently traveling outside of BH for a few reasons. They needed a break and to go to college but to also look for anyone who needed help. New creatures kept coming up and different breeds, though the one who bothered Derek the most had to be (Y/N). You showed up alone and seemingly running from a troubled past. You refused to open up about what happened or what led you to hide away in a town for the supernaturals when you seemed to be a human. With a snarky tongue and fierce attitude, you got under his skin in a way he didn’t like. Their arguments tended to end with one of them somehow injured. He liked you, and he wouldn’t deny that fact plus he couldn’t lie around any of the werecreatures throughout the town. Something about you drew him to you but he never had the best luck with romantic partners so he chose to ignore his growing affection for you.
His eyes open when he hears someone grab the door handle to his loft before it slide open. He quickly drops his legs from the table in order to greet who stands in the doorway before the scent of iron finally reaches him. (Y/N) stands there with blood dripping down multiple different wounds, you look like you could barely stand on your own with your skin looking several shades lighter than usual. Derek jumps up and runs over to you, barely managing to catch you when you attempted to step forward again like you wanted to meet him halfway somehow. He easily picks you up and rushes over to the table, easily clearing anything on it. You grip his sleeve as he lets go of you to pull out his phone, you didn’t know who he wants to call but you’re scared and he can smell it.
“No cops.” You manage to say finally, “Please.”
“I need to call someone. You’re bleeding all over my carpet.”
You huff but drop the hold you have on his sleeve, attempting to cover one of your wounds to avoid any more blood dripping on his carpet. He dials a number you’re not quick enough to see and walks away from the table, speaking in a low tone with the other person. You couldn’t believe you’d been stupid enough to be caught by a hunter in this town, you thought they didn’t attack unless they had reason to. Then again, that protection came strictly by being within the McCall Pack which you weren’t in. A loner through and through. You’d hoped that being here in BH would slow the hunters that have been on your trail since you turned, but you couldn’t have been more wrong. Derek ends his call with a small grumble before approaching you again, his eyes slide over the different injuries like he’s trying to figure out which one to treat first. He can’t see them very well though, most of them being hidden by the bloody fabric clinging to them.
“Do it,” You sigh, “I know you have to.”
“Are you sure?”
“It’s not like I have anything you haven’t seen on one of your exes before.”
He studies your features for a few heartbeats before he rips open your shirt, exposing the different injuries covering your abdomen and back. His fingers lightly grazing scars he didn’t even notice at first, concern instantly coming into his darkly colored eyes. Pain rolls off of you in waves, it’s a sour scent that causes Derek’s nose to scrunch up. He reaches out and places his hand against the largest wound, you immediately know what he’s trying to do. Pain absorption. A skill most werecreatures have. It works on animals and humans, but it rarely works on other beings. It didn’t work though. Derek no longer had the Alpha status, he couldn’t take the pain from any other creatures. Scott told him to keep the wounds covered until he got there with Isaac and Malia, he wanted Isaac there in case you needed to be held down while the others worked on your injuries. They still weren’t sure of what you were so they wanted to a Beta there, other than Derek of course. He walks away again and ignoring the way you attempt to grab his sleeve to keep him from leaving. Faintly the sounds of his sink reach you, but it hurts for you to even move your head around right now so you trust your senses. You know what you need to heal, but telling him might cause him to turn you over to the hunters. Werewolves have never been very friendly with your type. You can’t help but to feel a pang of something at that thought, the thought of Derek betraying you. Closing your eyes, you try to recall your life before this. But for the first time, you can’t. You can’t remember your parents, friends, or anything else about yourself.
“Hey, keep your eyes open.” Derek’s harsh tone snap you out of your thoughts.
“Sorry.” You mumble.
“I understand, but you need to stay awake until Scott gets here.”
“Scott. As in Scott McCall. The true alpha who died twice before he was out of high school?”
“Is he that well known?”
“His whole pack is, even you.”
Derek snorts as he begins wiping the blood staining your skin with a warm, wet cloth. He hates that he can’t take away the pain rolling off of you in waves, he hates when he smells the stench grow stronger every time he wipes the wounds. You grip fistfuls of your jeans to keep yourself from lashing out at him, from drawing blood from him to heal the wounds. They weren’t sealing or scabbing over and you could feel how weak you’d become thanks to all the blood loss from dragging yourself to Derek’s loft. You did it because he’s in Scott’s pack, and you trusted him for some reason. No hunter could hurt you in Derek’s loft, hopefully.
Scott and Malia were still waiting for Isaac at Deaton’s vet clinic. Scott took the time to pack up what he assumed they would need to help an injured person, although he wished Derek would bring you to the hospital so his mom could look at you. But he understands why. Most beings here don’t trust the humans since the hunters were everywhere. The hospitals, the sheriff’s station, the school… everywhere. Malia keeps saying that she doesn’t trust you because she doesn’t like how you smell, something about your scent caused most werecreatures to give you weird looks. But Scott never finds it off, he also doesn’t see why someone would hurt you. Isaac finally pulls up outside though instead of staying in his car, he gets out and rushes over to Scott with a file in his hands.
“Scott. I know why they got hurt.” Isaac skips any greetings, handing his alpha the folder.
“Why?” Scott askes even as he takes the file.
His eyebrows raise almost instantly as he reads the information printed there, he didn’t think vampires were real. No one he ever saved could tell him, they were rare to come across. Someone put a price on your head, a big one at that, and they wanted you dead rather than alive.
“We need to get to Derek. Now. This says they don’t care how it’s done or what rules they break. Whoever put this price tag out there won’t care about hurting Derek too. We should also call Chris, in case we need back up.”
Malia grabs the backpack Scott had packed and the trio hurry to Isaac’s car. Scott just hopes they can get there before something worse happens.
Derek stands over you still, keeping an eye on how much you’re bleeding with an unreadable expression on his features the entire time. You couldn’t tell if he was mad from the blood soaking into the carpet or if he was concerned for your life. He moves to your other side, wiping away the sweat dripping from your forehead with a small frown. Scott didn’t normally take this long to get here, whether he had been busy or not. He’s trying not to pace around the loft, you weren’t moving a lot anymore and he hasn’t been able to get you to open your eyes since you closed them a few moments before. The sounds of multiple people slowly approaching his loft door causes him to look up from you finally, his eyes turning to an icy blue. His shoulders becoming tense as his nails turned into claws with a frown tugging on his lips. Though the tension leaves him when he sees Chris pull the door open with Isaac, Scott, and Malia.
“What took you guys so long?” Derek grunted.
“Chris needed to stop by the hospital to get what we need for your friend.” Isaac pulls the door shut, glancing at the amount of blood.
“The hell does that mean?”
“They’re a vampire, Derek.”
Derek looks down at your barely moving form, his eyebrows drawing together in confusion. From the stories he remembered being told by Peter, they were supposed to be the opposite of werewolves. They chose to have covens though they liked being loners. They killed without care about who they hurt or turned in the process. They took and took and took yet rarely gave to others. The hunters, however, had taken control of the ‘out of control’ vampire population. It made them harder to find which made the hunters angry, they didn’t like how easily they could blend in with humans. Their eyes didn’t glow in pictures, they didn’t have super strength or hearing. They couldn’t handle a lot of sunlight though they could handle some of it. Their eyes were sensitive to the light, very sensitive. But they could heal faster than most humans. Their hearts still beat enough to avoid concern from medical personal. They could eat normal food, but they needed blood daily to survive. Everyone assumed it had to be human blood yet something tugs in Derek’s mind. He doesn’t believe it’s true.
There hadn’t been any reports of late night attackers that ended with someone dead or heavily injured. He shakes his head and glares at his former Beta, not believing a word from him. Chris walks over to check your pulse before he swings his bag forward, setting it on the ground to pull out a blood bag from the hospital. He refuses to look at Derek while cutting it open and allowing some to drip onto your lips. Your eyes open instantly but they’re no longer (y/e/c), rather a bright red that somehow manages to glow even in the evening daylight outside. You snatch the bag from Chris, drinking it greedily and hungrily. Derek steps back from the table, his eyebrows raising almost immediately. From the way you drain the bag, he knows you must have been hungry yet you never made a move to drink from him. You had held yourself back the entire time and that went against everything he had ever been told about vampires. He watches as you swipe the blood dripping from the corner of your mouth, licking the blood from your thumb. The others in the loft watching you in a mix of surprise, horror, and concern as the wounds covering you begin healing at a rapid rate they hadn’t seen before. You take a second bag of blood from Chris and rip it open with your teeth, finally exposing your sharpened canines in the process. It didn’t seem like you cared as blood slides down your throat and chest, dripping onto the blood stains from your blood there. Licking your lips once the second bag is finished, you look at the people around you in silence unsure of what to say.
“You’re a vampire.” Scott says, “Stiles is going to have a field day with this, he always swore you guys existed.”
“We do, sadly. Most of us weren’t turned with our consent though.” You shrug, wiping the blood from your mouth.
“Is that why you have a bounty of your head for killing your family?” Isaac speaks up, his tone unusually harsh.
“I didn’t kill them. I’m just the only one who wasn’t killed, so my grandfather is convinced I did. I’ve been on the run for years now.”
Scott studies you in silence, the debate he’s having mentally clear on his features. His arms crossing as he begins to pace. Chris and Malia both watch you with sympathy in her eyes, though neither attempt to get closer to where you sit on the table close to where Derek is still standing. Isaac, however, is glaring at you like he doesn’t believe a word coming out of you. Not like you care though. You’re used to people not trusting you. Derek studies everyone, scrubbing his hand through his hair with a small sigh like he can’t understand what’s going on. Then everyone starts talking. Isaac wants to send you back to your grandfather. Chris thinks you should go with him and keep hiding. Scott wants you to join his pack of misfits. Malia thinks you need to go to the police or Stiles. You argue against everything. You didn’t kill your family, and you weren’t planning on getting killed for something you couldn’t have done. Derek stays silent the entire time, trying to ignore all the yelling. He just watches the blood dripping down into the blood stains and it begins to annoy him adding to the annoyance that had been building from everyone talking.
“Goddamn it! I told you before, you’re bleeding all over my carpet!!” Derek roars.

The problem is, just because the wolf finds their true mate does not mean that they are the same for that person.

You were sitting on the small terrace, watching the sky change colors as it prepared for the sun rise with a warm cup of coffee in your hands. You were never much of a morning person, but if these nightmares had anything good, it would be this. The scene in front of you was perhaps the most beautiful thing you had ever seen.
You wondered about the conversation you had last night. After everyone had gone to whatever room they were going to occupy for the night, you and Lydia had stayed up for a little while longer trying to figure out the best way to go about tomorrow. She had asked if you’d be willing to track Malia and you had to tell her that you were only able to get general scents but were having a hard time actually locking in on a specific scent to be able to follow it. It’s Lydia that suggested  using your hearing instead and you could have kicked yourself for not thinking of that. It was such an integral part of you.
You and Lydia had talked about it and figured it would probably be best if not all the wolves in the vicinity were chasing a coyote. Were or not, if Scott was having a hard time controlling his own instincts a group chasing down the poor thing may very well turn into a hunting party.
The two of you figured it would be best if, as a group, you all paired off. In order to try and keep the wolves from hunting, Lydia figured it would be best to be one wolf with non-supernatural person. You’d had to remind Lydia that she is technically considered supernatural.  The idea the was to leave Allison with Isaac, Lydia with Scott and Stiles with you. She’d also asked you about the purple of your eyes and you had no answer for her so you simply said it was a family trait.
It’s as you’re sipping the last of your coffee and wondering just what the world has coming their way that the doors open. You don’t bother to look over, already knowing that it’s Isaac
“You really should be asleep, you know.”
You offer a weak smile without looking at him, “It’s been kind of difficult lately.”
“Why didn’t you tell me that both Derek and Peter are missing?” he asks as he’s handing you another mug of hot coffee.
Setting your empty mug down, you take the drink from him and wrap both hands around it. Inhaling the scent of the hazelnut roast, “Honestly, I thought I had. I swear, with everything that’s been going on though, I must have just imagined having the conversation.”
He sighs and comes to sit next to you.
“I’m sorry,” he murmurs softly, “If I had known, I would have come over more.”
“It’s fine, you were here most nights anyways… Wait how did you not notice they weren’t barging into the room after you?”
Isaac looks a bit sheepish before saying “I just assumed they were ignoring you…”
He looks so serious that you can’t help laughing, “Isaac, my cousins may be… difficult… but they’re not gonna just ignore screaming nightmares. That’s kind of hard to do.”
There’s a pause, almost as if he’s not sure he should ask but soon enough, Isaac is asking if you really think that saving Malia is going to help them.
“You want an honest answer?” at his nod you shake your head, “I’ve got no idea… all I know is that a nemeton is supposed to be a sacred place. I can’t help but wonder if somehow this nemetons been corrupted. In the past, when a sacrifice was made to the nemeton, the Druids would choose from volunteers. It was considered an honor. At least, that’s what my dad used to tell us. The sacrifices here, they had no idea why they’d died. What if it twisted the magic somehow?”
“Well, how would we know if it had?”
“Your guess is as good as mine.”
He sighs heavily, dragging a hand across his face and through his hair, “So this may not even work.”
“But Isaac, isn’t it better to try? Even if this doesn’t work, they’re going to feel better about trying. If they don’t succeed… well it’s not like it can get any worse.
I know you’re worried about Allison and Scott and, to a lesser extent, Stiles. So why not at least try?”
He nods his head and is silent for another moment, before - “Do you think it’s one of them? Or that it could be?”
“I don’t know.. Maybe? But honestly Isaac, I’m not going to put my life on hold trying to figure out who it is. The pain is manageable and it’s not like there’s much I can even do. It’s not like I see them and I suddenly know who they are.I still have to get to know them..”
“Scotts good people ya know..”
“You saying that cause you think it might actually be him or because you want to be able to date Allison and not feel guilty? He seems nice enough, but he’s not really my type. Besides, I think he’s interested in the new girl, Kira. Haven’t you notice his heart race pick up just a bit each time that he talks to her?”
Isaac shakes his head and you playfully shove him, telling him that he really needs to work on actually using his new abilities.
The sun has risen over the city and it’s slowly coming alive. You and Isaac stay out on the terrace for a little while before it’s time to head back in. Isaac will be going to get Allison and you will be staying here to work out the plan with his friends.
Later that afternoon, you join the McCall pack in the woods not too far from the Tate house. Everyone’s on edge and there’s a moment where Lydia questions if what you’re all doing is more bad than good. You stay quiet, not because you agree but because this isn’t an argument for you to be a part of, it’s a family matter. Scott, however, is making it something positive and Isaac and Stiles begin to bicker.
Ignoring them, you drown them out and try to focus hearing what’s going on in the woods around you. You hear Stiles dad calling for Tate and then there’s the sound of something crashing.
“Hey guys-”  you begin but there’s a gunshot ringing through the woods that makes you flinch back.
Scott jumps on his bike, calling for Lydia who doesn’t seem to hesitate before she’s on the bike with him and they’re taking off. Isaac and Allison are paces behind them.
Stiles is trying to get everyone to wait and so you clear your throat, reminding him that you’re still here when he turns to face you.  He lets out a frustrated huff before reaching into his pocket and calling his dad.
Cell phones have too much going on with them for you to want to try to make out what the Sheriff is saying but Stiles looks confused as he begins to pace.
“It took the doll again?” he turns to look at you while asking “What the hell is so important about this doll?”
Stiles is still on the phone when suddenly something occurs to him,”It’s the doll” he says assuredly as he hang ups the phone before second guessing, “It’s the doll?”
There’s more gunshots and you begin to worry that Allison or Isaac could be getting shot, you move to go after them before you remember, you could trigger a hunting party and you said  you’d stay with Stiles. So you stop your forward movement and settle for pacing between the trees. Taking a deep breath you try to focus on Stiles’ words, this doll means something. The gunshots however, are making you more and more nervous.
“Alright but why would it go all the way to the school and then all the way back to the house just for a doll? One that was in the car in the first place. We didn’t find it in the coyote den”
Hearing another gunshot you snap at Stiles “I was there Stiles, I know it wasn’t there.. Look it just likes the doll-”
“Yeah, it likes the doll alot.”
You rub your temples for a moment,  trying to focus on the situation in front of you and not the fact that your friends are running towards bullets. “Wait, what kind of doll is it Stiles?”
“It’s a - I don’t know. It’s a doll, you know?” He huffs, “It’s got little arms,a big baby head and dead, soulless eyes. Actually, I took a pic,” says as he reaches into his pocket and stands up. A moment later, he’s handing you the phone. “Here.”
You look at the picture, the girl in the blue jacket is on the right, sitting with a younger girl with red jacket. She’s the one that’s holding the doll. “Stiles, she’s not the one holding the doll. How many people did you say were in that accident?”
Stiles takes the phone back and looks at the picture again, “That’s Malia’s younger sister. So it was her doll.”
He continues to stare at the picture and you’re struck struck by the memory of taking your mother's favorite blanket to her grave when Stiles is looking at you.
“What?”
“I know where she’s going.”
Suddenly Isaacs screaming and you’re running towards him when Stiles grabs your arm and pulls you back
. “Natasha! You can’t go, he’s going to be okay.”
“You don’t know that Stiles, you he could have been shot!”
Stiles pulls you into his arms, his chest against your back and he’s wrapped both arms around your, “I promise he’s going to be ok.”
You had decided to listen to your instinct and trust these people you remind yourself. You have to latch onto Stiles, your hand gripping his arm, and  take deep breaths in order for you to actually do it. It takes a couple seconds but you nod. Stiles makes sure that you’re okay before the two of you are making your way towards the site of the crash.
Stiles is on his phone, apparently leaving a message for Scott and you end up trailing just a little bit. You’re slightly on edge and you keep telling yourself that Isaac and Allison with both be okay. You’re not really paying attention to your surroundings, knowing that you need to get to the accident when suddenly your foot lands on something that makes you freeze.
Looking down your eyes fall on a bear trap  and your foot is smack dab in the middle of the pressure plate. Shit. Isaacs scream suddenly makes sense. You could step down and allow the jaws to snap on your legs but to be honest you’re not sure how well you would heal or how quickly. You’re voice comes out panicked when you call Stiles’ name.
He doesn't seem to notice as he turns  to you but he sees something on your face, panic you assume, and he looks at the ground, his eyes landing on the bear trap.
He walks slowly towards you and you’re trying not to twitch on the plate. There’s a squeaking sound and you call out his name again, terror lacing your voice this time.
“Natasha... don’t move.”
“Wasn’t part of the plan…” you snark at him, terrified about what this thing may actually do to you. “Stiles- look for a warning label.”
“A warning label?”
“Instructions on how to disarm it.”
“Natasha, why the hell would they put instructions on the bottom of a trap?”
“Because animals can’t read.”
Stiles nods his head and kneels down. You try to focus on staying still and not breathing too fast, afraid you’ll trigger the trap. You can see Stiles moving around and it feels like a lifetime later before he speaks-
“Ummm... Tasha... we got a problem.”
You can only whimper as you risk turning your head to look at him. He’s looking up at you and his eyes meet yours
“I can’t read either..”
Because of course whatever the nemeton is doing is going to be worse when they’re trying to help. But, this is Stiles - he’s the one that’s been piecing together everything from what you’ve seen.
“You don’t need the instructions,” you dismiss. He looks at you, confusion written on his face and you continue on. “I’m willing to bet you’ve never used the instructions to anything in your life. You don’t need them because you are too smart to waste your time with them, okay?
You can figure it out. Stiles- you’re the one who always figures it out. So you can do it. Figure it out. “
You stay still, watching as Stiles finds a valve of some sort. He looks at it for a moment and you hold your breath. He asks if your ready and you give a small nod, he turns the valve and you jump off the plate, you end up practically falling on top of Stiles and arm around his neck, you grab his jacket with your opposite hand. His arms wrap around you and the jaws of the tramp snap together.
You’re breathing heavily and let out a slightly hysterical chuckle. You can feel the soothing circles that Stiles rubs across your back and you’re able to calm down.
Stepping out of his arms he lets you go and you thank him. The two of you begin to work your way towards the crash again when a roar is heard throughout the woods.
Scott was able to do it.
Later that night, after you had checked on Isaac who was healing up just fine you had decided to check in on the others. You found yourself at Stiles’ house, figuring Scott and Lydia would, also, be here. You had brought over popcorn and the Star Wars prequels, figuring they may need some time to just unwind and that it would be a nice gesture that they might like.
As you stood there, you realized that you could distinguish individual smells. Taking a deeper inhale, you realized that you could make out distinct smells and not just generalizations. Only stiles was here. He invited you in and the two of you sat in his living room. You gave him the popcorn and movie anyways, thanked him for earlier that day and when he had asked why you were so sure that he was going to be able to get you out of that trap you merely replied that you just knew. You were going to leave, when Stiles surprised you.
“Hey, uhh” he started off as he rubbed the back of his neck, “I - Uh.. That is to say… Well I wanted  you to know that - it’s, it’s not that I don’t like you…. You’ve actually been pretty awesome during all of this. It’s just that- well we’ve been hurt  a lot. That’s not to say that you’re going to hurt us but- you know how sometimes it’s not that people just pretend to be something that they aren’t - Not that that’s what you’re doing it’s just that -”
He’s gesturing somewhat wildly and seems to be looking at everything but you so you put your hand on his shoulder. He stops suddenly and when he’s looking at you, you say, “Stiles- I get it. Maybe I was overreacting, it just kind of sucked that it seemed like everyone but you was ok with me being around.”
He smiles back at you and, pulling your hand back to your body and you rub your upper arm.
“Wait, are you cold?”
Before you can respond, he’s already jumped over the couch, practically killing himself in the process and is on his way up the stairs.
“Wait - Stiles” you call after him but he’s already gone.
A few moments later, he runs back downstairs with a blanket that he drapes over your arms.
“Thanks..” you murmur. You’re not sure what the plan is but Stiles quickly sets up the blu ray player and settles down on the couch. Smiling at him you get comfortable on the couch. The two of you watch the movie and then put in another, during which you fall asleep

Thirteen Truths (and a Lie)
Stiles Summer Stories 2024
Stiles yawned and folded his arms on the kitchen isle, resting his cheek on his folded arms and getting more comfortable. The others were droning on about something but Stiles couldn't find the energy to concentrate. He'd spent the past twenty hours on a research binge, he was sleepy.
"You should pay attention, Stiles," Derek frowned at him, looking somewhat concerned.
"Seelie Court etiquette, dos and don'ts with fae folk," Stiles mumbled, waving a dismissive hand. "I spent the past day studying up on it, I don't need the Alpha lecture – even though I'm sure Peter is doing a wonderful job explaining it to you guys. Go, Peter."
He gave the Alpha a playful thumbs-up and Peter rolled his eyes at him, though the man couldn't fight the small, bemused smile. He stood together with Chris in front of the kitchen isle. The rest of the pack was gathered in a circle around them, more or less. Erica was sitting on Boyd's lap on the couch, with Isaac sitting next to them, talking to Erica. Jackson and Lydia were sharing the love-seat, Lydia on his lap and a heavy book on the armrest next to them as she scanned through it while carding her fingers through her mate's hair, soothing Jackson (which was always a good thing to do during a pack meeting to keep him and Scott from going for each other's throats). Scott, Allison, Kira and Malia were sharing the other couch and oh god why was Stiles in a pack with so many happy couples, that was just disgusting. Kira was braiding Malia's hair. Why were they so cute.
Stiles' eyes found Derek, Cora and Isaac on instinct, seeking the companionship from the other singles in their paired-up pack. Cora offered him a grin and an exasperated eye-roll motioning at Scott and Allison while making gagging motions, which only made Stiles snicker.
Peter cleared his throat, raising his eyebrows at Stiles in a pointed manner. "As I was saying, we have to decide how we approach the Seelie Court."
Stiles just offered his Alpha a tired, shit-eating grin. Man, he'd never thought Peter would grow into being a good Alpha. But being brought back from dead had really helped the man. And he loved this pack so fiercely, with the fierceness of a man who had already lost one pack. So when the Alpha Pack had invaded their territory and when the Darach had poisoned Cora, forcing Derek to give up his Alpha Spark to heal his sister, Peter had gone ahead and killed one of those 'spare Alphas running around' (Peter's words. That man was horrible. Why was Stiles so deeply in love with him), making him the new Alpha of the Hale Pack. They'd rebuilt, together. Well, until the next big bad hit them. Stiles' breath hitched at the reminder of the Nogitsune and even without meaning to, he started pressing his thumbs against the pads of his fingers, counting them.
"Stiles?" Derek's voice grew softer as he watched the movement.
Startled, Stiles sat up when he noticed the whole room had fallen silent, everyone staring at him. Everyone watching his finger-counting. Damn it. He hated worrying them. He forced a smile.
"I'm fine, just didn't sleep," Stiles shrugged.
Which wasn't even a lie. Neither of that was. He was fine – his new normal, his new definition of fine, because he would never be 'fine' again, he knew that, it had settled deeply in his bones. He was as fine as he would ever be. Stretching long and cracking his back, he decided to focus on the pack-meeting after all. Better than to let his mind drift to dark places. It tended to do that, especially when he was on too little sleep, which he evidently was today.
"There isn't really much to consider," Lydia picked the previous conversation up again. "When negotiating with the fae, it's important to have one vocal point, particularly to avoid missteps. The chances of someone in this pack speaking out of terms and insulting the fae, or worse even, accepting something from the fae that will be taken as a bargain, is too high."
"Why—y is everyone looking at me?" Scott frowned. "Jackson insults more people than me."
"That's true," Jackson shrugged. "But you would just accept shit from them, McCall."
"Don't fight," Stiles growled annoyed, pinning both betas with a look. "Focus."
Both Chris and Peter regarded him with heavy eyes and Stiles avoided them both, instead turning his attention to the coffee maker to get something to keep him awake. He hated the way they'd look at him whenever he accidentally Pack Mom-ed a little too obviously. It made something anxious twist in his gut, making him wonder if they knew. It was probably wrong of him to 'secretly' be Pack Mom, without actually clearing that with the Alpha and the Alpha Mate, but… But then there were enough things kept between them so he didn't feel overly guilty for it. With a near vindictive energy did he pour himself a coffee before returning to the counter.
"I'll talk to the Seelie Queen," Stiles declared simply.
"Excuse you," Peter huffed out a near amused laugh. "Who's the Alpha."
Peter flashed those pretty, pretty red eyes at him. It was cute how Peter thought that'd get him Stiles' submission. Instead, Stiles simply rolled his own eyes and emptied the cup of coffee in one go, causing Isaac to make gagging sounds and Boyd to make a concerned noise.
"Who's the Emissary of this pack," Stiles countered, raising both eyebrows at Peter. "That's literally in my job description. I represent the pack in diplomatic missions and speak on the pack's behalf. Don't think it can get more diplomatic than a visit at the Seelie Court. Besides, with all due respect oh great Alpha, you tend to get… violent… when your pack is threatened."
"So," Peter narrowed his eyes at Stiles, demanding more.
"There's no way we won't get threatened there," Stiles blinked at him amused. "Seelies play games and they threaten with honey-sweetened words. The last thing we need is for you to take a threat a bit too personal and threaten them back, because we'd be in their realm. They'd not only have the home advantage, we'd be stuck in a whole different realm, Peter. You're good with words, you got a sharp tongue, but so do I. I know how to deal with this. I spent all of yesterday preparing for it."
"He's not wrong, dad," Malia offered with a shrug. "Stiles has a sharper tongue than you."
"From my own daughter," Peter muttered beneath his breath.
"He is the best pick, from a standpoint of his role in the pack," Lydia added. "I would have tossed my own hat in the ring, or even Kira's – kitsune are trickster spirits, so there might be a certain sense of kinship that the Seelies might feel toward her – but as Emissary, Stiles is best suited."
Kira ducked her head. "I would really rather not do a job that requires me to speak sharp and precise. I am more prone to word-vomit and I don't see that going over well."
Malia interlaced her fingers with Kira's and pulled her close enough to kiss. "I like your word-vomits, they're cute. But yeah maybe not vomit all over the Seelie Court."
"Are you sure, Stiles?" Derek frowned at him again.
"You are so way over-protective, dude," Stiles rolled his eyes.
"Don't call me 'dude'," Derek growled annoyed. "And I'm serious."
"So am I," Stiles raised both eyebrows at the former Alpha. "I mean, shit, I'm already best suited from an introductory perspective. It's rude not to answer when asked something and they will ask for our names first. Names hold power. If you give a fae folk your name, they have control over you, but if you just don't answer, you insult them. I'm the only one who can truthfully answer without giving my actual name, because I don't go by my actual name."
"Huh," Erica blinked a couple of times. "Didn't even consider that."
A broad, shit-eating grin spread over Stiles lips. "I was made for this one. Besides! No mortal danger! I mean, you know, not from attacks. Mortal danger from linguistic missteps, but I'm eloquent enough to fight that battle. This one? This one's for me."
His grin turned a little more wicked and Peter flashed his eyes red for a moment in a way that Stiles couldn't quite explain. But what he said was true. Ever since the Seelie Court had moved into Beacon Hills a few days ago, and people started disappearing, Stiles had mentally prepared himself for this. He was uniquely suited to take care of this problem.
"We're all going," Chris declared in a very final Alpha Mate voice. "We won't let you walk into a foreign magical realm on your own, Stiles. But nobody aside from Stiles will speak with the fae or make contact with them. You will not be provoked and you will not provoke. Am I clear?"
The betas all ducked their heads and nodded to varying degrees. Stiles' grin turned a little more soft at the trust from his Alphas, even as it made his heart feel uncomfortably heavy.
/break\
The fourteen of them walked deep into the preserve together the next day. No unnecessary accessories – jackets, scarves, jewelry – nothing that could be snatched or bargained. Nobody was to wander off and, as Chris had declared yesterday, nobody was to speak to the Seelies aside from Stiles. His heart was jackrabbiting in his chest. Peter rested a gentle hand on his shoulder.
"You can do this," Peter whispered in a warm voice. "I know that."
The confidence only made Stiles' heart beat even faster. He nodded sharply as he lead the pack toward the pond deep in the woods. Oh, he really hoped this was going to work. It'd be so much easier with magic, but—He shook his head sharply, he couldn't think about that right now.
"This is a powerful portal," Stiles motioned at the mushrooms growing around the pond. "Water is a bridge between realms already but this pond was turned into a fairy circle too. Do not get lost. I'll go in first, we will all hold hands, there will be no complaints."
His hand slipped into Peter's, who in turn took Chris', Chris holding Allison's, Allison holding Scott's, behind Scott came Isaac, Erica, Boyd, Derek, Cora, Malia, Kira, Lydia, Jackson. One by one, they stepped through the bond, falling through the sky and landing in a true fairy tale kingdom. Everything was a purple blue haze, beautiful. Glowing fireflies in blue and pink flying all around them, butterflies larger than normal circled them. Flowers and tall trees everywhere.
"This is stunning," Kira whispered in awe.
"Do not, under any circumstances, touch anything," Stiles reminded her in a steely voice. "Regardless of how beautiful and harmless it looks. Everything here is deadly."
The kitsune nodded sharply, holding a little tighter onto Malia and Lydia. No one had let go yet. Good. Safer that way, at least until they'd reach the Seelie Court. Stiles' eyes were hard as he regarded them all, counting his pack-members just to make sure they were all there.
"How do we find the Seelie Court?" Scott asked, looking around. "This seems… big…"
"He has a point," Jackson conceded. "I can't see a real path anywhere either."
Stiles smirked at the betas, before tilting his head back and calling out loudly. "In the name of the Nemeton of Beacon Hills, I evoke the Spark's right of an audience with the Seelie Queen."
"What," Peter's eyes were wide in surprise.
It made Stiles laugh and turn toward the stunned pack. "I told you, I am uniquely suited for this job. The Nemeton is what invited the fae folk. As its chosen guardian, I have the right of an audience and can not be harmed until I am before the queen."
"Aren't you full of surprises, little Spark," Peter's eyes danced with something that Stiles couldn't name, before he frowned. "Though I do not appreciate the half-truths. You could have told us."
"Eh, where's the fun in that," Stiles laughed and turned back again.
His laughter died when two Seelie Knights approached them, wearing armor of hardened leafs and bark, adored with gold and gemstones. Their long hair was braided and decorated with poison ivy. They were easily the most beautiful creatures Stiles had ever seen, though he couldn't tell if they were men, women or neither. He just knew he was enchanted. His grip tightened.
"Do not let go until we're at the court," Stiles instructed the pack sharply.
"Spark," one of the knights greeted him, both of them bowing deep. "Our queen is delighted to receive you. If you would follow us, alone, we will bring you."
Stiles returned the bow and spoke while still bent down. "I thank your queen for her hospitality, however, where I go, my pack goes. As she surely can understand, for she would not receive me without her trusted knights present either."
The Seelie Knights exchanged a look, but in the end, they gave a reluctant nod and led the way. They walked through the forest and it felt as though the trees were bending their way, forming arcs for them to walk beneath. It was truly stunning. Until they reached the Seelie Court. Like a naturally occurring amphitheater, in a strange way. The stones and Earth seemed like they had formed the rounded shape all on their own, it was beautiful. The trees above them bore pink flowers, their petals raining down on everything ever so softly. Stiles could imagine being here forever.
At the center of the amphitheater stood a tree stump, the bark rising higher in the back, making it look like a throne. On the throne sat the most breathtaking woman Stiles had ever seen, her dress practically see-through in soft green, with flowers growing around it. Her hair was snow-white, her skin pale and adored with silver freckles like stars. Her eyes sharp and unnaturally green.
Stiles let go of Peter's hand to go down on one knee, bowing to her. The Alpha caught on and followed his example, and so did the rest of the pack after a moment. The knights walked to stand on either side of their queen, who made a delighted noise.
"I am Queen Faerynna of the Seelie Court and I am overjoyed to welcome a Spark in my realm."
"You are too kind, your highness. Your hospitality flatters me," Stiles remained kneeling.
"Rise, and tell me who you are," the queen instructed him.
"I am Stiles, Spark of Beacon Hills and Emissary of our local pack," Stiles said, motioning behind himself. "This is my pack and we thank you for your time."
He could hear one of them – Scott? Isaac? – gasp loudly now that everyone stood again. Stiles didn't turn away from the queen, but he still checked from the corner of his eyes. Ah. Humans, the missing people they were looking for. Dancing with bleeding feed, crying without noise.
"Do you like them?" Queen Faerynna asked excitedly. "They are new! They entertain me!"
Stiles instinctively reached out behind himself to grab Scott's wrist without having to look. He always knew where his betas were, Pack Mom instincts were great. Holding tight, he stopped Scott and jerked him back, giving a light shove and hoping the rest of the pack would catch on and help him keep a lid on this. He loved Scott dearly, but the guy's mortals often got the better of him. He wanted to help the people right now, but they couldn't. It'd incite the queen's wrath.
"They seem like… dull entertainment to me," Stiles offered after a moment. "Not worthy of a queen as beautiful and powerful as yourself, your highness."
The queen looked pleased and intrigued by this, leaning back in her throne. "What do you want."
"Their freedom, and ideally that you leave our territory," Stiles offered bluntly.
"And what do you offer in return?" Queen Faerynna's eyes sparkled eagerly.
"What is it you would want, in return for this," Stiles asked instead of offering anything.
"Mh…" Queen Faerynna's brows furrowed thoughtfully. "You want to take my entertainment away and you claim it isn't worthy of a queen like me, so… If you can entertain me better than they, I will grant your request. They can go and I will bind my realm to another place."
Stiles took a moment to consider. "What… kind of entertainment would you wish for, my queen? I assure you, I am not a graceful dancer, I doubt I would be able to entertain you with dance."
She laughed lightly and shook her head. "Play a game with me and if you play, I let them go."
Adjusting his stance, Stiles tilted his head. "Neither me nor my pack will die or be harmed in this game? And you will let us go too, when the game ends?"
"No physical harm will come to either of you."
"No harm at all will come to them," Stiles argued sharply.
The queen looked even more delighted at that. "No harm at all will come to your pack, if you play."
"And you will keep your end of the bargain regardless of how the game ends?" Stiles asked warily. "Not just in case I win, but also in case I lose."
"Oh, you will lose," Queen Faerynna pursed her lips amused. "But yes. As long as you play, start to finish, I will let you, your companions and the drool little dancers leave my realm."
"We have a deal," Stiles declared, followed by gasps from his pack.
No bargains with the fae. Well, no ill-advised bargains with the fae. He was content with these terms they had set and he knew they would not get rid of the Seelie Court without giving something. He whirled around when there were outcries from his pack. Vines shot from the ground, curling around them from the ankles up to the necks, keeping them all individually rooted to the spot. Blood-red roses sprouted on the vines as they tied the pack up.
"You promised no harm-" Stiles growled dangerously.
"They are not harmed," the queen stated matter-of-factly. "And as long as you play, they will not be harmed. See the thorns as… incentive for you to play along, young Spark."
A vicious snarl formed on his face as he saw the fearful look on Lydia's face, the concern on Chris', the panic on Isaac's. He whirled around, facing the queen again. So he wouldn't have to look at his pack, not feel guilty about the situation he'd gotten them into.
"I'm going to play your game," Stiles muttered, displeased. "Tell me the rules."
"It's simple," Faerynna smiled at him lightly. "I will ask you thirteen questions, one for each member of your pack, and with every hard truth you will reveal to me, to this court, and to your pack, I will release one of your pack-mates. You can, of course, end the game any time by refusing to answer me, but then I will keep every remaining pack-member I still have."
Her eyes were sharp and so were her teeth as she smiled even broader. He froze at the spot, his heartbeat skyrocketing as his eyes widened and his palms started sweating.
"What," Stiles forced the word out. "H… How is that entertaining for you."
He had genuinely considered chess or something along those lines. A game of wits and wisdom, worthy or a millennia old fae. Not this. The queen laughed, her smile growing more vicious.
"You have a sharp, silver tongue, young Spark," the queen pointed out. "You have mastered the art of lying to werewolves. That fascinates me and I think it would be greatly entertaining to see you stripped of your armor and forced to tell your truths."
"Stiles, listen to me," Lydia spoke gently. "It's going to be okay. Whatever you say, none of us will hold it against you. We know you're doing this to save us."
"What do you mean?" Scott sounded confused.
"Sometimes, we tell lies because truths hurt, even those close to us," Peter's voice was filled with bitterness. "Whatever the queen wants to pull out of Stiles, she does so to hurt him."
"Which means that these are things he chose not to tell us," Chris continued. "And that's his right. Everyone has a right to their secrets. So what Lydia means is that we will not hold those secrets against him, whatever they are, even if they hurt us."
"Especially if they hurt us," Peter corrected his mate. "Because it's most likely that that's why Stiles decided to keep them secrets, to not hurt us."
Stiles quirked his lips into a bitter smile at that. Wouldn't Peter know about secrets, mh. Still, the reassurance from his pack somewhat eased the queasy feeling in his stomach. He took a breath at the soft, understanding 'oh' from Scott. Okay. He could do that. Telling the truth.
"Bit rusty, but sure, let's give it a try," Stiles muttered beneath his breath before straightening to his full height, holding his head high too, not cowering before her. "I'm ready for your game."
There was a pause in everyone as the game was about to start. The pack, Stiles, the queen, even the knights. No, everything. Stiles noted the way the falling petals were suspended in the air for a moment. The binding magic of a fae contract was kicking in. And then everything came back to life.
"How can there be a Spark, in a territory where the local Nemeton has been cut down?"
Stiles tilted his head, furrowing his brows. That wasn't what he had expected. He turned to look back at his pack, all thirteen of them wrapped up in vines, thorns digging into their clothes. Blood-red roses adoring the vines. Some of them – Malia, Jackson, Derek and Scott – struggling more, like they could break free if they only tried hard enough. Others like Lydia, Kira, Peter and Chris knew better, stood relaxed, knowing that the vines would only tighten if they struggled.
"You can't ask questions that we don't know the answers to. That's cheating," Chris declared.
The hunter stared at the queen with steely, cold eyes, making Stiles shudder. The glare seemed nearly protective and Stiles felt warmth fill his belly at that thought. He knew it wasn't, but still.
"That's what makes it a hard truth," Queen Faerynna smiled bemused. "Because he knows the answer. He knows the answer but hasn't even told his pack. Delightful."
"Because it's mine," Stiles growled, keeping his head high.
"Not anymore," Queen Faerynna looked gleeful. "Unless you are fine with leaving this court without your friends… I wouldn't mind keeping them for my entertainment."
She curled her fingers together and the vines tightened around the pack. Stiles glared frustrated.
"The Nemeton only plants the Spark. But there have always been three parties. The Nemeton, the Spark, the pack," Stiles answered, raising his head, trying to look down on the queen. "The Hales just stopped looking for a Spark. I'm fairly sure there's always been a Spark, but the Spark has been forgotten by the pack. They thought there couldn't be one without the Nemeton. But the Nemeton still planted the Spark. It takes the pack to ignite a Spark. I only got access to my magic after I joined the Hale Pack, the first time I used my magic was to protect my pack, at the rave."
He could hear the confused noises, saw the looks his pack exchanged at that. Could see the questions in their eyes. His stomach felt like it was filling with lead, even as the roses around Isaac turned from their blood-red color into a pure white and the vines let go, leaving Isaac confused, stumbling forward and instinctively closer to Stiles. Stiles' own instincts told him to put himself between his pup and the threat. The queen. So he pushed in front of Isaac.
"And why is that a secret?" Queen Faerynna asked. "Why not tell your pack?"
The delightful grin on her lips told him that she already knew. His pulse was picking up, he balled fists at the sides of his body, feeling tense and nervous. He didn't like where this game was going.
"Stiles," Peter growled. "Answer her question."
And not just because the pack was in danger. But because the Alpha was angry. He could hear it in Peter's growl. The master manipulator and hoarder of information hated not knowing. This was knowledge regarding his pack that had been deliberately kept from him by his Emissary.
"Because you already lost enough," Stiles forced out, turning to look at Peter, Derek and Cora. "You were already blaming yourself for the loss of your family. You didn't need to know that your family could have lived if the pack had kept looking for Sparks, if instead of the unreliable, weak druid, Talia would have had a Spark as her Emissary. I didn't want you to feel like there was something else you could have done to prevent what happened, not when the past is… in the past."
He pressed his lips together and looked away from the Hales. There was no changing the past and yet this was a fact. If the Hale Pack hadn't stopped looking for Sparks, had kept looking for them, they would have had Sparks as Emissaries for the past seventy years. Whoever had been the Spark before Stiles, they would have been at Talia's side, they could have protected the pack.
"Stiles…" Peter's voice softened. "That wasn't your burden to carry."
"It was," Stiles straightened his posture again, bracing himself for what would come after this. "I am your Emissary. Protecting this pack is my job. Even from emotional pain, Peter."
He chanced a glance at the Hales, seeing pain and pity in their eyes, even as the roses around Cora turned lily white and the vines fell off of her. She came to join Isaac in standing behind Stiles. He took a step forward, away from them. He didn't want comfort or support, because it would just make him more aware of the audience he had. If he had to give eleven more truths, he needed to compartmentalize. Lock away his own feelings in regard to this and focus on the task.
"Your job, mh," a bemused smile played on the queen's face. "What is your job in this pack?"
"I'm the Emissary of the pack," Stiles replied with narrowed eyes.
"Half-truth," Queen Faerynna chimed, shaking her head in disapproval. "Don't make me hurt them. You know exactly what I am talking about. What's your job in this pack, that you're hiding?"
"I'm…" Stiles' voice shook a little and he swallowed hard. "Pack Mom."
Noises of confusion came from behind him, startled gasps. He tried tuning them out, because he knew he wasn't done answering. She required elaborate answers. Painful answers.
"I've been Pack Mom since I joined this pack, back when Derek was still the Alpha," Stiles continued, focusing only on the queen. "I take care of my pack. I used my magic for the first time so I could protect my pups. I protected them from the kanima, at the rave. Put myself between them and the threat. Would do it again every day. Am doing it right now."
He squared up just a little, glaring at the queen and drawing emphasis to the fact that he did stand between her and Isaac and Cora. The two betas made curious noises at that. The queen laughed. Someone else was freed and moments later, he felt Derek's hand on his shoulder. He turned, just a little, looking at the former Alpha, seeing the wondrous look in Derek's eyes.
"I protected Boyd and Erica in the basement. I made them return to the pack. I blackmailed Jackson's parents into not leaving for London. I keep this pack together. It doesn't matter who's the Alpha, I'm Pack Mom and they are my betas first."
For a split second, his eyes flitted back to Peter, but he couldn't make out what the look on the Alpha's face meant. He hoped it wasn't anger. Swallowing hard, Stiles returned his attention to the queen, with Derek standing strong at his side, helping him shield Isaac and Cora. A small smile found its way onto Stiles' lips. The two of them had become friends, close friends, over all the times they'd saved each other's lives. Derek may not have been a good Alpha, but he was a good man and a good friend. He was much happier now, as a beta again, Stiles could see that.
"You keep protecting your pack, I'm sure you've given a lot for them," Queen Faerynna mused. "What else have you given, for that pack of yours? What is the most you have given for them?"
His whole body tensed as a flood of memories flashed before his inner eye, memories of every single time he had gotten hurt, tortured, abducted, tormented, and unable to stop it, he could feel himself starting to count his fingers. His thumbs pressed against his other fingers one by one, forcefully, and lastly pressing against his palm. One, two, three, four, five. Five fingers on each hand. Not a dream. Not a nightmare. Because it started to feel like a nightmare, like he was being tortured on purpose. He counted his fingers again. Derek, Cora and Isaac stepped up to him, careful.
"Stiles," Derek spoke softly, watching the movement of his fingers.
One, two, three, four five. He balled his hands into fists, albeit shaking. He knew what Derek was thinking, what they all were thinking, was acutely aware of the way they'd watched the movement. They knew what this was, what he was doing, why he was doing it. Which was why his actual answer was only going to surprise them even more. Because the Nogitsune wasn't something he had given, not really. It was something that had been forced onto him. That was different.
"I died," Stiles replied after another beat. "I gave my life for this pack. In the Argents' basement-"
He could see Chris and Allison flinch and Boyd and Erica still at his words and he ignored it, instead barreling on to get it over with. "I died in that basement. Because the level of electricity needed to keep wolves from shifting is too much for a human heart to endure. When I tried freeing Boyd and Erica, I got electrocuted. My Spark didn't allow me to stay dead, it restarted my heart."
"Stiles-" Chris' voice broke, sounded so wrecked, it made Stiles' heart ache.
"I died for this pack," Stiles repeated with emphasis, turning away from his pack again to instead look the queen dead in the eyes, his own gaze cold and serious. "And I'll do it again, as often as I have to, as long as I can keep them safe. I'll do anything to keep my pack safe."
And it wasn't just additional information, it was a thinly veiled threat. If she hurt them, he was going to kill her. As simple as that. Queen Faerynna laughed delighted, clapping her hands.
"I will be generous, young Spark. You gave me two hard truths, what you have given and what you are willing to give, so I will in return give you two of your pack-mates."
The vines fell off both Boyd and Erica and without hesitation did the mated pair rush to him and hug him from behind, from either side. He couldn't help but flinch. He'd never wanted them to know. His heart was hammering in his chest and his eyes burned with unshed tears. They let him go reluctantly, after a moment, when they noticed him shaking. Knowing that he couldn't afford to break down here, knowing that he needed the distance. He was eternally grateful to them when they stepped back to fall in line with Cora and Isaac, allowing him to gather himself.
"What are you most ashamed of, most afraid they will learn?"
There was something predatory to the queen's gaze at that, unnaturally long teeth showing in her smile. Stiles wrapped his arms around his torso, too aware of the way Derek, Cora, Isaac, Boyd and Erica were huddling around him, how the rest of the pack stood behind them, still tied up, still in danger, yet all of them watching him. He hunched in on himself, shoulders drawn close. The vines around the other pack-members tightened until there were some pained noises coming from Kira and Lydia. Stiles ground his teeth together, glaring viciously at her.
"I killed Allison," Stiles spat the words out, closing his eyes tightly.
"What are you talking about, she's right here!" Scott sounded desperate, worried. "And you didn't do anything, it was the demon, it wasn't you!"
"But it was me," Stiles growled, voice dripping with self-loathing. "I remember everything it did. It made me watch. I felt the resistance of her flesh when we drove the sword into her and I watched her die in my arms, I listened as she took her last breath. I was too late. By the time I could wrestle some control back from it, she was dead. Lydia didn't scream in warning because someone might die, she screamed because Allison did die that day because I killed her."
He made a wretched sound but managed to not throw up at the court. Yay, him.
"Stiles, I'm alive," Allison pointed out, gently. "M… Maybe it was just messing with you-"
"Go on, young Spark, and I'll let two go again," the queen offered generously.
"I gave up my Spark to bring you back," Stiles whispered, tilting his head down, feeling so small. "I poured all of my magic into you, into bringing you back, I clawed at your soul to drag it back into your body. That's why I haven't used my magic since the possession. I know you all think I'm just afraid of it because the Nogitsune was dark magic, but it's because I don't have magic anymore. I gave it up to bring Allison back. I don't know if it will ever recover, or if it's gone for good."
Shocked and pained gasps and when the five already freed tried to comfort him, he shied away from their touch. He'd never wanted to admit this, he never wanted to tell them that he was useless now, that he no longer had his magic, had no right to be Emissary of the pack anymore. He squeezed his eyes shut, feeling the tears running down his cheeks but choking on his sob.
"Stiles…" Allison's voice was so soft as her and Scott walked up to him. "Thank you."
She wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug, and Scott was right next to her, his arms around them both and suddenly, Stiles couldn't fight the sob anymore, clinging onto her.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Stiles chanted until his voice broke. "I killed you."
"You brought me back to life," Allison corrected, gently caressing his hair. "You gave up your magic to bring me back to life, Stiles. I don't know how to thank you for that."
The queen waited patiently until his tears died and he gathered himself enough to face her again. He motioned for Scott and Allison to join the others, still wanting to keep them safe, needing to protect his pack. They reluctantly obeyed, after soft additional tugging from the other betas.
"Continue," Stiles ordered, voice rough. "Let's get this over with. I want to go home."
"You told me what you gave up for the pack, what you are willing to give up for it. What have you lost for this pack?" Queen Faerynna asked, tilting her head. "Not given, but what was taken."
Clarification, so he couldn't say his magic. He frowned annoyed. And then he paused when he noticed that he was counting his fingers again. Oh. Right, remembering the Nogitsune did that to him. Many things did that to him. He had too many triggers to keep track of at this point.
"My sanity. My mind," Stiles furrowed his brows, looking down at his hands. "The Nogitsune took my ability to tell reality from nightmare. Every single time something… not normal… happens, I have to count my fingers to make sure I'm awake. And in our lives, every day is a day that something abnormal happens and every time, I have a moment of panic that I'm not awake, not really here, that it's not real, that I'm still stuck in my mind, and I don't think that will ever stop."
This one felt good, in a weird way. Like a tight grip on his heart was easing off and he could breath just a little easier. Scott slipped a hand into his from one side, giving it a tight squeeze and looking at him with those big puppy-dog eyes, sad but supportive. Derek took his other hand. Allison, Cora, Isaac, Boyd and Erica were still standing in a half-circle behind him. Protective. Supportive. There.
The roses around Jackson turned white and the former kanima was free to first check on Lydia and… and then join the others in their protective little half-circle around Stiles. His heartbeat picked up and he raised his chin high to regard the queen coldly. Bring it on, his gaze said.
"What is the thing you are most afraid of?"
Mh. Stiles felt himself strangely detached as he considered this question. Near clinical.
"The Nogitsune made me think I was dying," Stiles whispered. "Dying of the same illness that took my mom. And that… That's my biggest fear. Every day I wake up and I am terrified that today's the day, today I'll start showing actual symptoms. That I'll fully lose my mind, forget all the knowledge I've gathered, forget the people I love, forget myself. That I'll die slowly and alone, even if everyone who loves me is around me, because I won't recognize them."
He blinked repeatedly, blinking away tears as he remembered his mother's vacant gaze. Scott gave his hand a squeeze but didn't speak, knew it wouldn't change anything. Nothing could. The vines let go of Kira and she stumbled up to the rest of the pack, finding her place among them.
The queen tapped her fingers against her chin, smiling. "Who do you love the most?"
"My dad," Stiles answered without missing a beat, this being a truth he didn't mind to part with. "He's the only one I have left. Ever since mom died, since her family turned their backs on us, he's all I have left. I love him more than my own life."
The queen pursed her lips and tilted her head. "That was not the love I was talking about, but it was such a sweet and genuine answer that I will accept it. And it is on me for not being specific."
The flowers around Malia turned from red to white. Ten down, three more to go. This one had been easy. Deceptively easy. Stiles felt himself tense in anticipation for what came next.
"Who are you in love with?" Queen Faerynna rephrased her last question. "Romantic love, dear."
Stiles' eyes widened and he squared his jaw, clenching a hand over his mouth, trying to physically keep himself from answering. No. Not this. Everything but this. She couldn't take this from him.
"Stiles," Lydia spoke softly, reaching out as far as the bindings allowed. "It's okay."
"Yeah," Jackson heaved a sigh. "Not like we all don't know it. You know I'm okay with it, you love Lydia, everybody knows. It's okay."
The rest of the pack made reassuring noises too. Like they knew him. Like they knew what was in his heart. They really thought he was still hung up on Lydia? After all this time?
"I'm not in love with Lydia," Stiles spat out. "I've never been in love with Lydia, it was just easier to be in love with a perfect girl who would never look at me twice than to confront that I'm gay."
He gasped at that, he'd never said it out loud, not even to Scott. His best friend made a confused noise, so did the majority of pack. Like being gay wasn't a big deal. Straight people really didn't get it. Even with the most supportive allies surrounding him, that didn't change the fear.
"Danny is gay, so is my dad, Peter and Malia are bi, Kira is a lesbian," Allison pointed out gently. "I just mean, none of us would have judged you."
"I've told myself that I'm in love with Lydia since first grade, since before I knew what gay even was, that boys liking boys was even a thing that could happen," Stiles snarled, his fists shaking next to him. "Good for everyone who had the emotional space and capability to come to terms with it before high school, I didn't. And when I was ready to come out, when I told my dad that I'm gay he told me not dressed like that, my own father couldn't believe that I could be gay because of the way I dress, so I shoved that back down where it's been for years and left it there. Because living a lie that nobody questions is easier than living a truth that people might reject."
Queen Faerynna regarded him with soft, warm eyes and that made it worse. "I'll accept it. It wasn't an answer to the question I asked, but it was a hard truth, so I will accept it."
The flowers on Lydia turned white, releasing her. She stumbled into Jackson's arms. Stiles marginally relaxed. Two more. He could do this. He felt raw and naked and vulnerable but he had endured eleven truths, he could tell two more and then they could get out of here.
"Now, let me rephrase again, then. One last time. If you do not answer me truthfully this time, I will keep you all here for eternity, young Spark. Who do you desire the most?"
"My mates," Stiles choked out, tears prickling in the corners of his eyes. "I want my mates. I know they don't want me, I know that, I learned to accept that, but that doesn't stop me from wanting them. I want them so badly, it physically hurts."
Stiles kept his eyes on the queen, ignoring the surprised gasps from his pack, ignoring Peter and Chris. He could see them in the corner of his eyes, he wished he couldn't. He didn't want them to know this, not them. He'd worked so hard to ignore this. Chris was released and went to hug Allison. He tried to reach out to Stiles but Stiles violently flinched away from his touch.
The queen didn't give Chris a chance to speak. "Why do you think your mates don't want you?"
"Because he has known for two years and never said anything and they've sealed their mate-bond a year ago and never said anything and how could they," Stiles spat the words out, shaking a little. "I killed him, I killed Peter. And I killed Chris' daughter. How could they want me. Half the time, I don't even understand why they let me be part of the pack, much less the Emissary, so that's already more than I deserve. How could they want me, I don't want myself."
His breathing was labored and he knew the look in his eyes was haunted. He pulled away from the pack, wrapping his arms around himself, trying to protect himself. Peter was free, they were all free, and Stiles felt like he was breaking into a million pieces, with all his well-guarded secrets laid bare before them all. He gasped out a sob, trying to gather himself.
"There," Stiles snarled. "I played your game. Now keep your promise."
"Of course, young Spark," Queen Faerynna smiled and it looked nearly merciful. "You played well, so I will reward you. Your Spark is not gone, you simply lost connection to it. Let me help you reignite it, as a thank you for a very entertaining evening."
She lifted her hand, and there was a sudden warmth in his chest. He gasped out as power flooded him, his eyes widened and he knew, in that moment, that they were flashing turquoise, as they hadn't in too many months. The next second, he found himself in the middle of the pond. Dripping wet, with his entire pack, and the previously dancing humans, sitting in the water.
"Stiles-" Peter spoke, his voice sounding unsure.
"No," Stiles shook his head violently and climbed out of the pond. "No. No, I can't. I can't… I… I… I can't have this conversation now, I can't, I need to… be alone, right now."
"I'll drive you home, Stiles," Derek offered in an unusually soft voice.
Stiles turned to glare at the former Alpha. But he knew he was shaking, full body shakes, and was about a second away from a full panic attack. He was also overwhelmed by this new, even stronger connection to his Spark, he felt like his nerves were on fire. After taking a shaky breath, Stiles nodded, giving up. Maybe he could use someone driving him home right now.
He let Derek lead the way back to their cars, where he took Stiles' keys from him and started the Jeep. Stiles slipped into the passenger seat, pulling his legs up, feeling small and exhausted. He rested his head against the window, tears running down his face.
"Tell me if there is anything I can do," Derek requested, voice low.
"G… Give me the weekend," Stiles pleaded. "I can't see them, I can't talk to them, I just… I just need time, please, I need… I didn't want to say any of this, these were my truths and she took them, forced them away from me and I can't deal with whatever Peter and Chris want, I can't."
"Of course," Derek rumbled softly, reassuring.
Stiles sagged a little in relief at the promise. He felt too raw. He needed time to stitch himself together again before he could face anyone, much less Peter and Chris.
/break\
Chris wanted to reach out for Stiles, wanted to comfort him, to hold him. Before he had a chance to did his own daughter step in the way. The look on Allison's face was hard and Chris was shocked to have it aimed at himself. The betas lined up behind her. Putting themselves between Chris, Peter and Stiles. Protecting Stiles from the Alphas. Chris startled as he realized that with a pang.
Derek led Stiles away to the cars, leaving the rest of the pack behind. Peter next to Chris ground his teeth together, keeping from snarling at their betas. Chris reached out, taking his mate's hand.
"Scott, Erica, Jackson, Malia, I want you three to take the injured people to the hospital," Lydia instructed in a stern no-nonsense voice. "I want you to also go and get rid of your aggression because I will not have this escalate into a physical fight. Boyd, I want you to take Kira, Isaac and Cora home. Me and Allison will go with our Alphas and have a conversation with them."
"Why do you think you get to command my pack," Peter asked sharply.
Lydia's eyes were steely. "Because you hurt Stiles. And right now, I'm the only thing between you and the sharp teeth and claws of your own betas, because – and you should know that – we love Stiles. Even if we may not have known that he was Pack Mom, the bond was still there."
Isaac whined at that, leaning into Erica and Boyd for a moment. Of course. The three first betas of the Hale Pack had the strongest bond to Stiles, aside from Scott. The strongest Pack Mom bond. Stiles had just admitted it, that he had become Pack Mom for them. Chris swallowed hard. He turned to look at Peter, who looked guilty and heartbroken.
"Fine," Peter forced out. "Do as she said."
The pack split up, Chris and Peter getting into Peter's car, together with Allison and Lydia. The drive back to the Hale House was tense and quiet, the two girls in the back seething.
"I love you, dad," Allison started as soon as they entered the house. "But you have some serious explaining to do, because I've never felt more protective of Stiles than right now, after he just told me that he brought me back from the dead."
She was shaking, Chris noted. Because she'd died. His daughter had been dead. Chris started shaking too. He reached out for her, wrapping his arms around her. Thankfully, she let him. A sob tore from her throat as he started crying. Mourning her own death.
"There is… a lot that Stiles has done for this pack, without any of us knowing," Lydia's voice was a sad whisper, her eyes on the ground. "And some where we didn't know the depth of his sacrifice. So yes, you two do have some explaining to do and don't you dare growl at me and deny me, Peter Hale. Stiles just bared his soul to us, you owe at least that much in return."
Chris didn't let go of Allison, burying his face in her hair. He'd already lost his entire family, he only had her. The thought that he had lost her, that she would be dead if Stiles hadn't given up his magic for her. His grip on her tightened even more, desperate.
"He's been through so much," Chris admitted after a long moment. "When Peter and I got together, when I learned that we had a third mate in our bond, when I realized he's seventeen, he's… he's your age, Allison, I was… mortified of that. My mate is the same age as my daughter, I needed some time to digest that, I wanted for us to wait until he's at least eighteen."
Lydia heaved a deep sigh, but her eyes were on Peter, cold. "You don't have morals."
Peter barked out a laugh at that. "You're right. His age doesn't bother me. I would have claimed him on the spot, if I could have. But then I inconveniently died. And when I came back, well… There was always something, something dangerous to take care of."
"You found the time to court my dad," Allison pointed out.
There was a pause and a vulnerability to Peter. "He did kill me. I didn't think… I thought he deserved better. I worked very hard to become… better. Worthy of him. And by the time I thought I was a good enough Alpha, he was… possessed… He's still struggling with it. He needed the support of his pack, not the burden of this. You know him, you know he would have tried to put on an even braver face, not to worry us, would have forced himself to be stronger for us."
Both Allison and Lydia fell quiet at that. They knew he was right. They'd just been witness to the proof of it. Stiles kept all his pain safely tucked away, forcing himself to be strong for others. Peter and Chris had thought they did the right thing, didn't burden him with this.
"We need to go and talk to him, we need to explain this," Chris declared.
"You will not."
The four of them turned toward the door as Derek walked in, a dark expression on his face. Peter growled at his nephew, flashing his eyes red. But Derek flashed his eyes right back at the Alpha, growling, baring his fangs. Ready to fight. That was exactly what Lydia had wanted to avoid, any of the more volatile wolves to try and challenge the Alpha on Stiles' behalf.
"You will not keep me from my mate," Peter snarled.
"You kept yourself from your mate," Derek growled back. "You should have told him. You really thought Stiles wouldn't figure it out on his own? Stiles?"
Peter backed off at that, looking tormented. "I just… We'll explain it to him, we'll make up for it."
"But not right now," Derek raised his chin. "I asked him, if there is anything I can do to help him, and he asked me for time. He doesn't want to see anyone right now, much less you two. He earned the right to deal with what just happened, what's just been taken from him. You two didn't tell him for two years, you'll be able to wait three more days to talk to him. He asked for the weekend."
Lydia snorted and shook her head. "He didn't even ask for a full week."
"You know him," Derek huffed. "He's going to spend the weekend compartmentalizing and shoving his feelings back down where he usually keeps them locked up. And then he'll continue pretending that he's fine. I think he mostly asked for the weekend in hopes that we will do the same."
"Probably," Lydia conceded with a frown. "We will have to talk to the betas about this. We all should talk about this, together, so we can deal with our feelings on the matter on our own and don't put that on him too."
"Tomorrow," Allison nodded. "We'll have a pack-meeting tomorrow and talk this through."
Chris' eyes were on Peter and it was a testimony to how guilty Peter must be feeling that he let the three of them just decide this. Not that it was a bad decision. Chris reached out for his mate.
/break\
Peter was frustrated and annoyed. The pack had pretty much given him and Chris a verbal lashing for two days. Both Saturday and Sunday, they kept telling them off for not telling Stiles and picking apart their stupid reasons. They weren't wrong. Peter knew that himself.
He regretted not claiming the boy when he had first met him, but he'd been too feral. What little rational brain he had had been afraid that he would hurt his mate, so he kept Stiles at a distance. And then Stiles had helped kill him and Peter needed to earn the boy's trust first. And then, well…
"You ready for this, love?" Chris asked, holding Peter's hand.
It was Monday evening. They knew the sheriff was out. They also knew Stiles would be home. Allison, Cora and Isaac had told them Stiles had been at school. And that the betas had all wrapped him up in a puppy pile for the entire lunch break, apparently.
"Are you two going to stand there all night, or are you coming in? Door's open."
Both Chris and Peter startled and looked up at Stiles, who was leaning out of his bedroom window and regarding them with a near detached look, bordering bored. Peter hated that. He hated that Stiles felt the need to put up walls with them now. They'd been past that for so long.
Peter gave Chris' hand a tight squeeze before the both of them stepped into the Stilinski home and made their way upstairs to Stiles' bedroom. The boy was sitting on his window-sill, hands in his pockets, a guarded expression on his face as he regarded them.
"I didn't mean to say any of that," Stiles started before they had a chance to even say hello. "I didn't want you to know that I knew. We've had a great thing going of ignoring the mate-bonds. Let's just… pretend Friday night didn't happen and that I didn't say any of that."
"No, Stiles," Chris shook his head with a grave look on his face. "You didn't want us to know and… and we didn't want you to know, for… various reasons. But now that it's all on the table, we really need to talk about it. Don't sneer at me like that, brat."
Stiles ground his teeth together and raised his chin, much like he had done when facing the Seelie Queen. It made Peter's heart clench. He didn't want Stiles to look at them the same way he looked at the villain of the week. He'd worked so damn hard for over a year to prove he wasn't a villain.
"The last thing you said," Peter spoke softly. "The last 'truth' you shared, it may have been what you perceived as the truth, but… it's not the truth. That's a lie that you told yourself, twisted by… I don't know what would make you think so low of yourself, to be honest…"
"Don't act stupid, Peter, it doesn't suit you," Stiles offered him a cold, calculating glare. "I was possessed by a demon and killed countless people, killed an ally, killed Allison, I… Fuck, half the time I can't even look in the mirror because all I see is the Nogitsune."
He wrapped his arms around himself and stared down at his shoes. Looking so much more small and fragile than Peter was comfortable seeing him. His little Spark should be a spitfire of snark and sarcasm, loud and in everyone's face. Not withdrawn.
"We thought you should focus on healing," Chris offered in a reluctant voice. "You pulled away so much and we were scared that if we told you, you would only withdraw even more. You had so much to deal with, we didn't want to be something else you had to deal with."
"And before that?" Stiles raised his eyes to glare at the hunter, then at Peter. "And before that?"
"We're old enough to be your fathers," Chris sighed, rubbing his face. "You are literally in the same class as both of our daughters. When Peter told me, when Peter and I got together, I… How could you want us? You had a choice, the same way I did, because we're human, and I thought that you should have the chance at a normal life, normal teenage high school romance, instead of being stuck with two middle-aged, fucked up soulmates who were both scrambling to get their shit together."
"You… I didn't tell you when I came back from the dead, because I thought I had to become someone worthy of you first. You did kill me," Peter pointed out, causing Stiles to flinch. "I don't hold that against you, but I thought that you did. I thought you would resent me if I told you that oh yeah the guy who turned your best friend into a werewolf and mauled your first love is your soulmate, lucky you! You're not the only one who has doubts, Stiles. I'm sorry we hurt you, I truly am, but we didn't tell you out of the same reasons that you never told us. Because clearly you knew too, you knew about our bond but you never brought it up either – because you thought that we didn't want you. You're a clever boy, I need you to consider that maybe we had the same fears."
Stiles stared at them, with a fragile hope in his eyes. "I didn't… I felt it. Ever since I first connected with my Spark, got my magic, I've been able to feel the mate-bonds. And I didn't… I didn't think you would want to be stuck with an obnoxious brat like me, and then, well, then the Nogitsune happened. Are you… I need you to tell me, promise me, that you're not just saying this now, out of pity, because you're forced to confront this. I can't have hope and see it crushed."
"We had every intention of telling you, once you turned eighteen," Chris promised, his eyes a silent plea on top of his words. "We wanted you to have a… well, what constitutes a normal high school experience in this town, and then we wanted to tell you. When you're a legal adult, which would have also eased some of my worries, Stiles. But we always planned on telling you, we never meant to keep the bond from you. It's not something we are ashamed of or don't want. You are not something we are ashamed of or don't want."
Something in Stiles' posture eased and he started shaking just a little. Peter and Chris were at his side in two quick strides, Peter to his left and Chris to his right. They held their boy close, held him while he cried. He clung onto them both, sobbing into their chests.
"I never blamed you for what happened to Allison," Chris whispered, brushing a kiss against Stiles' head. "And neither does she. Neither do any of us. We all know it was the demon, it was using you. It wasn't you. You were a victim of it too, Stiles."
Stiles held onto them even tighter, shaking with tears. Peter nuzzled his neck.
"Our pack loves you so much, Stiles," Peter chuckled. "They all, individually, and as a group, threatened us. They were fully ready for a mutiny on your behalf. What you said at the court, that regardless of who the Alpha is, these are your betas? That was the truth. I can't believe you've been Pack Mom of my pack and I didn't even notice because I was too busy being smitten with you."
"Smitten," Stiles echoed, sniffling a little. "Nobody says smitten, you're so cheesy, Peter."
"He's also smitten with you though. Me? I am being much more mature and normal about it."
"Oh please," Peter gave him a pointed glare over Stiles' head. "You completely lost it the last time he used a gun against that rogue omega. You fully lost it because that was 'so hot, Peter, so hot'."
Stiles blinked up at them with those big doe eyes of his before he started laughing softly. He leaned into them more comfortably and placed shy kisses on both their lips, making them relax too. And in that moment, Peter thought that maybe they could be okay, together. Heal, together.

Some of us are Human - Stanford University and A Blacklight Party (Chapter 1)
Author: @what-the-hell-is-a-stiles826
Characters: Stiles Stilinski, Scott McCall, Malia Tate/Hale, Issac Lahey & Reader
Summary: Scott and Stiles leave Beacon Hills together to attend Stanford University where they run into an old friend and go to a college party where they are stunned by who else they run into there.
Note: If you are reading this, you’ve probably read these things before but...I’ll just say that Y/n means your name and y/h/c means your hair color. Okay, proceed.
Chapter One - Chapter Two
Tumblr media
“Hey ya, Scotty.” Stiles said as he watched his life long best friend approach the passenger side of his blue Jeep. Scott opened the rickety door and hopped inside. “Bye, Mrs. McCall!” Stiles waved enthusiastically through Scott’s window and received a grateful smirk from his friends mom, who stood on the sidewalk with her arms crossed.
“She doesn’t want me to go.” Scott said before turning to look at his mother. “I’ll call you when we get there.” She gave her son a nod as Stiles began pulling away from Scott’s home in Beacon Hills. The windows were down and a light California breeze blew inside, allowing Stiles gelled up hair a little movement. They began passing a familiar small yellow house about a block from Scott’s. “Have you heard from Y/n at all?” Scott asked, referring to their childhood friend that lived there, who they hadn’t seen in months. Stiles turned his eyes to his friend without moving his head. He pressed his lips together and let out a soft sigh. He missed his friend, very much and the ache from her leaving his life was still there. Y/n and Stiles were always much closer than her and Scott, though her disappearing hurt him as well. They both thought of her often.
“Nope.” Stiles replied simply. Scott put his head down to play on his phone. A few minutes passed in silence. They were now on the freeway, the radio turned up but it remained on commercials for what seemed like hours. Stiles leaned over and flipped through some stations before giving up and putting it back on the first one.
“Oh, come on grandma! Pedal to the metal!” He spoke irritably to the silver Buick in front of them. Scott wondered if his question from earlier hit a nerve. So, he changed the subject to something he thought Stiles would want to talk about.
“How’s Lydia?” He asked. Her and Stiles were a new couple. It happened after his confession to her right before the Wild Hunt ripped him from their lives. Once they got him back, the two were official. Stiles had been gone for awhile shortly after though, in Virginia. He was attending the US Federal Bureau of Investigation program there but came home after helping Derek escape the FBI’s manhunt back when he was wanted for murder, which was a total misunderstanding. He never went back though. He didn’t want to be away from his friends who might have needed him again with whatever next thing was terrorizing Beacon Hills. Also, he wanted to make sure Y/n was safe. Lydia could handle herself for the most part. He never worried about her quite like he worried about Y/n, who was human like him. He decided to attend Stanford with Scott, which was much closer to home. The two felt like they had an obligation to protect their home town and their loved ones who lived there.
“She’s good, I think.” Stiles said, before clearing his throat.
“You think?” Scott questioned.
“Well, I haven’t really spoken to her in a few weeks.” He grunted and gripped the steering wheel a little harder. “We, uh, kind of broke up.” He explained. Scott’s eyes grew a little and he leaned back away from his friend, towards the window.
“What?” He screeched, stunned by his friends confession. “What happened?” Scott felt bad for bringing up yet another subject that brought Stiles mood down but he needed to know.
“It was stupid, I’m fine.” Stiles reassured his friend. Scott squinted his eyes and waited for him to say something more. Stiles let out a big sigh this time in response to his silence.
“It was like two weeks after Y/n left.” Stiles turned the wheel slightly as they headed off their freeway exit and flipped his blinker to the left at the upcoming red light. “She thought I had feelings for her.” He said, turning to the left once the light turned green. He looked embarrassed and a little annoyed. Scott raised his eyebrows. He knew Stiles always had this infatuation with Lydia Martin, but he’d never seen two people click quite like Stiles and Y/n did. Although, he was certain neither of them ever realized they had feelings for each other, even if all their friends had. He wanted to ask, but he was afraid. He thought a moment about not asking but then it slipped out anyway.
“Do you?” Scott was a little shocked by his own boldness. But Stiles didn’t seem offended, instead he got distracted by all the college students that flooded Stanford's parking lot as they pulled in.
“We’re here!” Stiles hollered and pulled into a parking spot. He shut off the engine, turned to his friend and padded his hands on his thighs in an excited, drum playing like motion with his mouth wide open in awe. Scott smirked and they stepped out of the jeep. They both made it to the sidewalk where two girls stood parked next to them and fought over carrying their luggage to their dorm. The boys looked at each other before they began walking to theirs, deciding to avoid the drama. To their left, a tall guy with bleached dread locks pulled a small baggy from his back pocket and gave it to his friend who leaned against a giant tree in the campus field. Stiles raised an eyebrow and the two kept walking. “Welcome to college, buddy!” He said while giving Scott a pat on the shoulder. Scott shrugged and they opened the giant building doors, starting the next chapter of their lives.
Tumblr media
Scott and Stiles opened the door to their shared dorm room with enormous grins. Stiles entered first, walking to the middle of the room. Then spun around to face his friend. “Eh? Pretty great, huh?” He gestured his hands out to his sides. But his expression changed and his hands fell to his sides just as Scott heard a voice behind him.
“No way.” It said. Scott turned around to see an old friend in their doorway. It was none other than Issac Lahey.
“Issac?” He grinned. “What are you doing here?” Scott asked.
“London got old.” He replied. “I’m just right down the hall.” Stiles’ jaw dropped, he turned and plopped down on one of the matching beds.
“Great, we’re next door to scarf boy?” Stiles pouted. Scott chuckled.
“It’s good to see you too, Stiles.” Issac teased. The boys spent some time catching up and getting settled. Issac explained how he heard about their most recent fight against Gerard and how he wished he’d known about it all sooner. He’d have helped.
“Well, I’m glad you are back now.” Scott exclaimed. Issac nodded and began to head back to his room when a ding from Scott’s phone went off. “Wait, uh, what’s the plan for tonight?” Scott asked, still glancing at this phone. Issac stopped and leaned against the wooden door frame.
“What do you mean?” Stiles asked, intrigued. Scott shrugged and showed off the text on his phone.
Malia-I’ll be there in fifteen, find a party to go to tonight.
Stiles smirked at her words. “She wants to go to a party?” He giggled. Knowing Malia, which he did well, he wasn’t really surprised.
“It’s our first night on campus, why not?” Scott agreed with his new girlfriend. They all needed some fun, especially Stiles. His luck has been anything but good lately but he was happy to be there. Even with scarf boy. So he nodded in agreement and Issac pulled a flier from his jacket pocket.
“Cool.” Issac said. “Because some girl invited me to a frat party tonight. Now I actually feel like going.” Stiles pulled out a poster from his bag on the bed he’d chosen, unrolled it and began pinning it on the wall in between his and Scott’s beds.
“Good. So we just wait for Malia?” Stiles asked, turning back around once he was finished. Scott glanced at the poster a little closer and rolled his eyes.
“Yeah. Stiles, really?” Scott pleaded, gesturing to the poster. Issac let out a giggle and Stiles frowned.
“What?”
“Teen Wolf? Seriously?” Scott whined. Stiles face grew a bit agitated and he plopped himself back on his bed and began unpacking his clothes and grunting.
“You still haven’t seen that movie?” He rolled his eyes again when another ding from Scott’s phone interrupted the conversation. Scott pulled his phone from his jeans and read the new text.
“Malia is outside, let’s go.” He said, shoving his phone back in his pocket and following Issac out of the room, Stiles not far behind.
It was loud and dark. Colorful beams of light flashing by their bodies as they stood in the corner of the room, while Scott’s white shirt glowed in the black light to their right.
“I need a drink.” Malia spoke. She moved forward, kissed Scott on the cheek and walked off on her own. Scott turned back to Stiles and Issac, who both stood with their arms crossed, unamused.
“Well, this is fun.” Issac said sarcastically. Stiles shrugged in response to Issac’s negativity.
“Why do you do that? Lighten up, go find that girl who invited you or something.” Stiles pointed forward, hinting for him to go find his own fun.
“Fine, I will!” Issac huffed before walking away. Scott moved in closer to Stiles and sat on the window sill, debating whether he should go get a drink as well. Suddenly, the two were distracted by loud cheering coming from their right. It was a group of several students playing beer pong and when Stiles saw who stood at the front of the table, who had just scored, his heart fell to his stomach.
Scott stepped forward, a little stunned himself. He turned around to face Stiles, but his friends eyes never left the girl in front of them.
“Is that...” Scott spit out before trailing off. Stiles remained silent, staring. He was completely frozen in his tracks and Scott didn’t know how to wake him. The girl walked to the side of the beer pong table, giving several high fives in her path. Her long y/h/c pony tail moved back and forth with her steps and her pearly whites lit up in the black light next to her. She moved forward more, passing the crowd before her eyes met Scott’s in front of her.
“Scott?” You asked and then let a grin sneak out. He couldn’t help but smile at you. Stiles was shaken awake by your voice. He approached the two of you, rubbing Scott’s shoulder as he squeezed in front of him slightly to face you, his long lost friend. Your eyes met his amber ones and Scott looked down uncomfortably before crossing his arms for comfort.
“Y/n?” Was all Stiles managed to spit out. You smiled at him, not showing any sign of awkwardness anymore. “You are here.” He spoke again. You nodded and leaned in for a hug. It was quick, barely a hug at all. Then you hugged Scott as well.
“Hi.” You said. The three of you stood in silence for a moment. The music, some sort of new dubstep, was pounding in your ears. “Are you going to school here now?” You asked.
“Yeah, we uh, got here today.” Stiles replied.
“Law Enforcement?” You asked about his major. He nodded with a smile he couldn’t help. You smiled back, then moved your eyes to Scott.
“And Veterinary Medicine?” You asked for his.
“Yeah of course.” Scott nodded. “What about you?” He asked you because it felt like it was what he was supposed to say next.
“Journalism.” Stiles answered for you. He knew you wouldn’t come to Stanford for anything else. You were a writer and a good one. You used to read him your short stories when you were kids and you wouldn’t ever share them with any one else. Only him. Your eyes met his again, your expression now serious. “Right?” He asked, though he was sure of his answer.
“Yeah, I started in the winter.” You replied, explaining where you’d been all this time. You jumped when your friend called out your name from behind you.
“Y/n? It’s your turn!” Rhiannon hollered across the loud room. You turned to her and put out your hand to silence her.
“Okay, I was just getting some water.” You hollered back and Stiles quivered. “You two want one?” You asked, with the biggest lump in your throat.
“Sure!” Scott answered first while Stiles nodded. And then you walked away, the two boys watching your every step. How would you explain to them why you left without saying goodbye; without an explanation. The truth was your explanation wasn’t something you wanted either of them to know. So, you had to come up with something else. Surely, they would ask you eventually. In your worry, a part of you was happy though. It was happy your old friends were here and going to the same college as you. Then you thought of her. You felt a shiver run down your spine, remembering your last few days in Beacon Hills. And in that moment, you realized leaving town didn’t eliminate your confusion. Her name popped into your head again. Lydia Martin. And you wondered if she was here too. You hoped she wasn’t. Not because you disliked her. Just that you disliked her and Stiles together after everything that almost happened back home. But that was silly because he’s your best friend. Right?
You grabbed three bottles of water from the cooler it seemed like took forever to reach and then headed back towards your impending doom. You decided to play it cool. You’d be okay if you acted like you were. You approached Scott and Stiles again, handing them each an ice cold water bottle.
“Wanna join the game?” You asked. Hoping neither of them noticed the unusually large gulp you took after speaking. Stiles stepped up. He didn’t want you to disappear again. So he agreed, walked over and grabbed a ping pong ball. You smiled at his eagerness as you and Scott walked back to the table and watched him take a turn. He landed a ball in the middle cup and the crowd cheered, forcing you to chug another cup of cheap beer. He didn’t want to get too drunk. He was afraid of what might happen if he did. Would he say something he shouldn’t? Would he wake up to you gone again? Then he stepped aside to let you take your turn. You missed and Stiles smirked. You were never much of a drinker but honestly tonight you needed it. Your friend Rhiannon had forced you along tonight and you figured you’d play to distract yourself from your thoughts. And maybe to have some much deserved fun. Now that Stiles was here, you really felt like you needed to drink. So you did. And you did some more, all while being watched by your two oldest friends waiting for them to ask you why you left them behind.

The Truth Cannot Be Long Hidden
Summary: Agent McCall finally returns to Beacon Hills to find out the truth.
Note: This is the sixth fic in my series “The Strength of the Wolf is the Pack”. You do not have to have read the others to understand this, just know that: this is set after season five, but written before season six aired; Isaac, Jackson, and Derek have all returned to the pack.
Agent Rafael McCall sat in the driver's seat of his car, studying the school before him. He didn't slouch, doing his best to go unseen. Instead, his shoulders rested, tense, as far up the leather as they could go. He watched, and waited. And when the final bell rang, he finally saw who he'd been waiting for.
Scott McCall walked out of Beacon Hills High laughing, a grin on his face, surrounded by friends. To his right, Stiles Stilinski. To his left, a tall blonde that Agent McCall recognized as, with some surprise, Isaac Lahey. Directly behind the three leaders were a girl he recognized as the sister of a deputy, holding hands with an unfamiliar blonde male. And behind them, from left to right, walked: a glaring teenager Agent McCall identified as Jackson Whittemore, a young black male rolling his eyes, the queen of high school Lydia Martin pointedly ignoring her ex-boyfriend, and the once-thought-to-be-dead Malia Tate scanning the horizon. At first glance, they looked like any other pack of students coming out the school doors. But at second glance… at second glance, they resembled a different kind of pack. Scott walked slightly ahead of Stiles and Lahey. The couple behind them, while seemingly relaxed and talking about nothing serious, kept an eye on their surroundings and were perfectly positioned to guard the lead trio's backs. Whittemore, while upset, was clearly making an effort to stay calm and not yell at anyone - something Agent McCall had never seen, though the sight of Martin running facts and figures in her head was only too familiar. And yet, at the same time, they guarded the teen in-between them. Tate, on the other hand, guarded the entire pack - anyone approaching from behind would have to go through her first. As a whole, the group seemed well-oiled and ready for anything.
Several things worried Agent McCall. One, where was Kira Yukimura? Two, why had Whittemore and Lahey returned? Three, who were the strangers? Four, where, when, how, and why had his son become the leader of this well-prepared pack? And - somehow, Agent McCall managed to freeze even more in his seat. While he hadn't been hiding the fact he was watching, he hadn't expected this reaction. Tate and the unfamiliar blonde seemed to notice him at the same time, though how when they never looked directly at him he didn't know. Some unseen signal then passed to the others, and automatically they seemed to close ranks. The black male was pushed up in-between the couple, Scott's face grew serious as he began walking towards his father's car, and Whittemore and Tate both looked ready to kill. For that matter, so did Stiles and Lahey, though they only showed it by closing the small gap between them and Scott. In almost no time at all, they reached Agent McCall.
"Dad," Scott said stiffly, hiding his worry the best he could - though, of course, his betas could smell it, and he could feel the anxiety coming through the pack bonds because of it. As Isaac gently nudged him with his foot, the alpha sent what he hoped was waves of reassurance back to his pack. At the same time, the sensation of questions came in from the adults, and even as he tried to negate them, he could feel Derek and Chris drawing closer - able to do so since neither had to be at work.
"Scott," Agent McCall greeted. He eyed the group behind his son. "Can we talk privately?"
The alpha didn't even bother checking with his pack. "Whatever you can say to me, you can say to them." The smell of sadness, mixed with worry, anger, and grief emanating from his father startled him.
"Fine," Agent McCall agreed, trying not to show any of his feelings. "I told you when I got back we would talk, and that I would want the truth. Here I am. And if you've gotten into something, and don't know how to get out, I can help."
Scott protested, "Dad! I haven't joined a gang," while Stiles and Jackson both choked on laughter at the very idea that True Alpha "I'm the hot girl" Scott McCall could be in a gang.
"If you want me to believe that," Agent McCall began, "then you have to tell me the truth."
The alpha hesitated, glancing back at his pack. If he told, he would be revealing their secrets as well. And - "Do it, Scott," Chris Argent interrupted his thoughts. Startling, the alpha looked up to find that his left hand and hunting advisor had both arrived while he considered the next course of action, and had subsequently been absorbed into pack formation - Isaac moved back to stand beside Hayden as Derek took his place, while Chris stood in front of Scott to both block the FBI Agent's view of his alpha and to have eye contact while he did his job and advised. "Do it," the ex-hunter repeated, voice low now that he had Scott's attention. "If you don't, you'll have to work around your father. He'll be watching the pack's every move, doing his best to go against us as he forms his own opinions - just like he's already done. He'll blame your mother for everything. He'll never leave, not until he knows the truth. And if you don't tell him, you will regret it. Whether that happens sooner or later, if you eventually get over it or you carry it for the rest of your life, you will regret it. So make it easy on all of us. Tell him the truth." Speech done, Chris watched the emotions flit across Scott's face until they finally settled, and as he felt the satisfaction that came with making a decision through the bond Chris slid away, tucking into the pack on the other side of Stiles.
"Fine," Scott declared, making his dad look at him in surprise. "You want the truth?" He didn't even have to glance around, Mason tapped the "ok, we're alone" on his back. "We're werewolves. Well, some of us are. Some of us are something else. Some of us are still entirely human. But some of us are werewolves, and me? I'm the alpha of the Pack." Agent McCall gaped at his son, astonished he'd even try to pass something like that off as truth, only to jerk back and reflexively reach for his gun when Scott's eyes flashed a brilliant ruby red while simultaneously growling, showing off a sharp set of fangs. Behind his son, Hale, Lahey, the unknown couple, Tate, and Whittemore's eyes all flashed a mix of cerulean blue and murky yellow. "Leave town, dad." Agent McCall's attention lurched back to his son. "Now that you know the truth, leave. We don't need you here. If anything, we're better off without you bringing the eyes of the FBI down on Beacon Hills."
Scott turned away, the rest of his pack - a wolf pack, Agent McCall realized, an actual wolf pack - following close behind, guarding their alpha and each other. Stiles and Hale, who the agent recognized as his son's right and left hands, quickly caught up to, again, walk just behind Scott on either side. His son was safe, Agent McCall realized, and with that, he started his car and left. He'd keep in touch, but that could be done from a difference. His son had grown up into a fine young man. There was nothing left for him to do but watch him live his own life.

Natasha Hale
Daughter of Peter and Desert Wolf, and Malia’s twin
However, Tasha and Malia were separated at birth by Talia, and while Malia was adopted by the Tates, Tasha was adopted by the Evans family
She loved her mom and brother, it was just her adopted dad that was the issue
After he landed Tasha in the hospital when she was 7, her wolf side came out
That was when her mom kicked out her dad and that was probably the happiest day of Tasha’s life
Cora, who rode the bus with Tasha and was a year older, quickly figured out that Tasha was a werewolf and took her home to her pack without knowing who she actually was
Talia nearly had a heart attack, but decided to teach Tasha control
Tasha was having a sleepover with Cora the night Kate burned down the Hale house
Peter managed to get her out
Tasha wanted to go with Derek and Laura to New York, but Laura made her stay in Beacon Hills, since she still had a mom and brother who loved her
The fire, and the knowledge that there were people out there who hated her and her pack so much that they were willing to burn children and humans alive, traumatized her so much that she wasn’t able to shift anymore
The first time her wolf side came out was the night Peter bit Scott; Peter howled and her eyes flashed gold- it was for a split second, but it was there, and she definitely felt it
She actually hadn’t gone to see Peter at all after the fire- the whole thing was just too painful, and as much as she hated staying away, she just wanted to have a normal life
She immediately knew Scott was a werewolf
She had been friends with Scott and Stiles since the beginning of that year, and even though she didn’t know Scott that well, she knew his asthma would never allow him to do the kind of parkour he pulled during lacrosse
She didn’t know Derek was even back in Beacon Hills, or that he was looking for Laura, and she decides that she will protect the Hale’s home all by herself
She goes with Scott and Stiles to look for Scott’s inhaler and sees Derek; they don’t really talk, though, since as soon as Tasha sees him, she runs in the other direction
She’s actually kind of pissed at Derek for leaving her in the first place, and then coming back after six years of dead silence
She’s completely broken hearted when she learns that Peter is the alpha who killed Laura and has been terrorizing Tasha and her friends for weeks, and nearly killed Derek that night at the school
While they hadn’t been particularly close, they had this weird bond before the fire that neither could explain- even though neither knew they were father and daughter, they naturally gravitated toward each other
He was still Cora’s uncle, who taught them how to play basketball and helped them with their homework- Tasha liked him
In season 2, she has zero idea where she stands
On one hand, Derek is pack and despite the distance, that still means something to her- plus Erica has been her best friend for years, and she wants to protect her
But on the other hand, she was also friends with Scott and Stiles, and she doesn’t want to be against them either
A big part of her season 2 plot is her just trying to figure out who she is and where she belongs
She is ecstatic to have a sister!
Like, she loves her mom and brother, but she’s secretly always wanted to know who her biological family is, and while she’s not loving the fact that her dad is Peter, she is glad it’s someone she already knew and is at this point semi-comfortable with
However, she can never fully forgive him for everything he did in season 1, whether he was fully competent or not
Laura was practically her sister, and she knows she’ll have nightmares about him nearly killing Derek and terrorizing her at the school for a very long time
And she’d have an even harder time accepting him as her dad after his betrayal at the end of season 4
She’s never going to forget the feeling of his claws around her neck, gasping for air before being thrown against a wall
Wow that got kind of graphic
Her and Stiles start dating after season 3B; the whole sitch between he and Malia in Eichen House doesn’t happen in this fic, like Stiles stops her before they even get to kiss because he realized just how much he actually likes Tasha, and doesn’t want to jeopardize that
Honestly, even before Tasha and Malia found out they were twins, they were totally iconic
Like, Tasha was so comfortable with Malia that she told her about her dad before they even found out being twins
“I’m gonna fight him”     “Mal, I’m pretty sure he’s still in prison”      “Well, let’s go to prison and I’ll fight him there”
Oblivious To Social NormsTM
Like, Stiles is going to have an aneurysm talking to these twins because while they don’t look identical, they can and absolutely will cause chaos like they do
Tasha tries helping Malia get caught up with modern slang, and while Tasha hasn’t missed the last eight years of life, Stiles almost never sees her on the internet outside of supernatural research, so it’s basically like she has
Malia: “All right, we lit, fam?”        Tasha: “Absolutely, bae”       Stiles: *in the background, hyperventilating*
Tasha helps Malia get caught up with school and will regularly go off on the teachers that forget that Malia lived in the woods for eight years, so ‘No Ms. Miller, she wouldn’t fucking know the quadratic equation stop calling her out in front of the whole fucking class get the fuck over yourself’
Literally Malia’s biggest defender
God, I can go on and on about the Hale/Tate/Evans twins’ relationship I love them so much
That’s all I got so far hope you enjoyed my rant about Tasha!

It has been whispered throughout history that winter is a punishment, the death of the earth as punishment for the sin of avarice, wanting for your own what is not yours to have. Winter has fallen upon the Crescent City, La Nouvelle Orleans, and it has no intentions of being kind.
Three magical vortices are putting pressure on an already unstable fabric. The magical threads that weave together New Orleans are in danger of unravelling, a fate that would leave not only the magic of the city in shambles, but the city itself. Such a fate can be stopped, but not without blood.

Beneath the cut, you’ll find an extensive summary of the character-specific plot drops that will occur during our event.
Please note that while we have laid out this guide,  we are open to changes and suggestions if anything doesn’t sit well with a player. It is up to the individual roleplayers to decide when and how to start these threads. In order to do so effectively, please makes sure to read or at least skim each other’s threads on the dash, so as to make sure your character jumps it at the right time (in the case of a three-way para, for example) and doesn’t interrupt the flow/chronological order that is roughly set out in the summary below. Also, please read ALL of the plot under the cut; not just the section that pertains to your character. This will become increasingly significant as the event goes on.
The event will take place in two stages. Before moving onto the next stage, a post will be published on the Main. Open/casual starters are permitted aside from the plot-threads listed below, though please manage your time accordingly so that the plot-threads are completed by the end of the event. Note that not every character got a role in this event. We tried to fit as many people in as we could, but it wasn’t possible to fit everyone (for those roleplayers having multiple characters). If you see an opening for one of your characters, you are welcome to propose it to us so they can be fit in, but remember, activity is doubly important in a coordinated event, and no one will be penalized for prioritizing event-related characters.
Please tag your starters with VNFallen and VNStarter! If you have any questions, ideas, or concerns, please do not hesitate to message the Main! We know there is a lot going on and a lot left vague, but we are here to help!
Most of all, remember to be inclusive to as many people as possible (without biting off more than you can chew), get creative, and enjoy!

The Ancestors have watched from beyond the veil as their warnings went unheeded, and the magic of the Harvest Children wreaked havoc on the city. They won't have to wait much longer; one way or another that magic will return to the earth. Davina Claire has long suspected her time was running out, and she's not wrong. Sophie Deveraux has come to collect, using a spell to track the currents of magic in the quarter. Her magic has located three hot spots, and she knows one of them is the little traitor she seeks. She just needs to choose the right one. Helping her with that errand will be one Damon Salvatore. An old fling and a reliable weak spot, Sophie hopes to use Damon’s love for his brother Stefan, who she’s... incapacitated for the time being, to get him to help her find her lost Harvest child. She’s got eyes out for Isaac, and has Mercy right where she needs her. The only one left is Davina.
Two other witches are stirring up the arcane on this unseasonably cold night. Estranged sisters, Freya Mikaelson and Jennifer Blake each seek power, one the power of blood ties, the other the power of blood sacrifice. Freya Mikaelson has learned of the missing Mikaelson caskets, containing the two siblings who had an affinity for the craft. Kol, she's never met, but she's heard stories. Finn, though, Finn was the playmate of her earliest memories, the only true sibling she has ever had. Using the benefit of her current anonymity, she's collected an artifact from her three other blood-siblings. A single strand of long white-blond hair from the collar of Rebekah's jacket, saliva from the glass of wine she had shared with Elijah, and a smear of bloodied canvas, acquired from the studio Klaus painted in. Using the power of her siblings' DNA, along with her own, she seeks to send a message to her remaining brothers. You have not been forgotten, I am coming for you, help me find you.
Jennifer Blake, however, has less noble intentions. With the influx of supposed kin running amok in the quarter, she'd like to pay them tribute and make clear what her thoughts are regarding her "sisters." Though not originally part of the plan, Jennifer has decided to add a category of sacrifices to her cause: the traitor. Lucky for her, she has the perfect candidates in mind: Allison Argent, for turning her back on her family legacy, for being a sympathizer with animals, Lydia Martin, for turning her back on her family's elders, for letting her grandmother wither away while she lived in splendor, and Cora Hale, for turning her back on her family in flames, for leaving them to die in the smoke while she breathed clean air. The three teens were easily incapacitated with an hex on the assignment she handed out for homework, and brought to the attic of the LaLaurie Mansion. Home to intense lingering emotions and rumors of malevolent spirits, Jennifer plans to sacrifice all three traitors together, increasing her magic a hundredfold, plenty enough to avoid detection in the manhunt that will no doubt follow.
Unfortunately for Jennifer, her traitorous teens are not without friends of their own. Both Malia Tate and Stiles Stilinski have noticed their friends missing. In an effort to locate the teens, they recruit the help of Tyler Lockwood, hoping that he might have information about his step-sister’s whereabouts. It just so happens that he had received a location ping from Lydia (who had texted a record seven times since their parents had gotten married), and had figured it had been a mistake. Hayley Marshall Labonair and Derek Hale both follow their instincts, feeling something wrong shiver through their respective pack bonds. Hayley gets a call from Tyler, and she and Derek separate to figure out who is attacking their packs.
Mary Sibley has felt the tears in the fabric of the magic which blankets New Orleans. Between what she has learned of this “Harvest” ritual, and the careless destruction wrought by Rain’s ward, she can tell that disaster is imminent. The magic of the city is so fragile that it threatens to burst. The catastrophic implications of such an event are beyond even her wildest imagination. She has locked onto the same three vortices of spell-work that Sophie has located, and she tracks down the nearest, only to find her long-lost eldest sister, Freya Mikaelson. She has no choice but to fight her for control of her spell. She will prevent this catastrophe from occurring, even if it puts her in the regrettable position of magical custodian.
Meanwhile, Marcel Gerard and Elijah, Klaus, and Rebekah Mikaelson have gathered in a last-ditch effort to save Davina. Davina Claire attempts to channel Klaus' vitality in order to purge herself of the excess magic, using the Paragon diamond hidden in the Claire family tomb. Davina struggles to complete the spell, and is interrupted when all three siblings are hit by a massive wave of magical energy, and fall unconscious.
Unknown to the king of the Quarter, his home base is under attack — kind of. Chris Argent has had enough of playing the waiting game and decided to take things into his own hands. Innocent or not, Kate is his sister, and he doesn’t trust the vampiric equivalent of justice. If anyone is going to decide what to do with her, it’ll be the hunters she turned her back on.
Frederick Egrid has had his ear to the magical floor, trying to find the pulse of the Coven of New Orleans. He's learned from Sophie about the night of the Harvest, and done his research. It had been mere chance to spot the boy Sophie had been searching for lurking in the alley behind Egrid's shop, perhaps intending to dumpster dive for dinner. Isaac Lahey was a staunch advocate for constant vigilance, but he hadn't been prepared for the ice cream man's icy spell. Egrid intends to bring Isaac to Sophie at Lafayette Cemetery. Luckily for Isaac, his not-quite-nemesis Jaxon Whittemore had been attempting to follow him. Out of sheer curiosity, or a more genuine intention he doesn't care to examine, Jaxon had spotted Isaac and decided to tail him. When Isaac is taken down with what seems like some seriously fucked up Elsa shit, Jaxon finds himself embroiled deep in witchy politics.
Jaxon isn't the only one intending to play savior. Elena Gilbert seeks the help of John Alden in order to save her aunt Jenna from Klaus’ clutches. Unfortuntely for her, John happens to be in the midst of training her younger brother when they come to seek out his help. Refusing to sit on the sidelines this time, Jeremy Gilbert joins the team, and they set off for the Mikaelson Estate, only to find the place deserted when they show up. No sign of the infamous siblings, nor Jenna. Not willing to waste an opportunity, they raid the place for clues to her whereabouts.

“K...Klaus something happened…” You said through the phone, you watched as the Dread Doctors left the house, you tilted your head to the side allowing the blood to fall out of your mouth. “I… I think Hayley is hurt.” “(Y/N)!” Klaus called through the phone as you eyes searched around for one last thing, your eyes fell on Hope in the coat and sighed. “Hope is… okay too.” You managed to say. “(Y/N) what about you?” He asked. “I don’t know I don’t feel anything.” You answered and that was when Klaus started to panic, seconds later Hayley was leaning over you. “Klaus she’s been stabbed,” Hayley said taking the phone from you and pressing her checkered over shirt to your wound. “Klaus she’s not breathing…” “Hayley, calm down,” Klaus said softly. “I need you to stay with her, she’s going to wake in transition and you need to be there if I am not, do you understand?” Klaus asked sternly and Hayley took in a deep breath. “Transition?” Hayley asked. “She insisted that she be given some of my blood every morning so that if anything happened she wouldn’t have to die unhappy, she said that when she was ready to die that she would stop drinking it but that hasn’t happened yet, she died with my blood in her system and now I need to find a Doppelganger,” Klaus answered. “Is there even on here?” Hayley asked. “I’ve seen Father Kieran walking around this town and I’m pretty sure that he’s still in New Orleans,” Klaus answered. “So I checked his name is Henry Tate and he’s Malia’s Dad.” “I’ll move her to her bedroom be quick.” Hayley prompted before hanging up the phone and moving you before starting to clean up.
Klaus wasted no time tracking down Malia, he walked up to the door of the McCall household and he expected for them to be hostile but there was nothing that he could do about that, it was his fault that he held such an intimidating reputation, he knocked on the door and was faced with the only human left in the pack. “Where is Malia?” he asked. “What?” He asked, “Why do you want here?” “I need her help,” Klaus answered and Stiles frowned. “With what?” He asked. “Well (Y/N) will die unless you help us,” Klaus answered and that got the attention of someone that he had forgotten about. “What happened to (Y/N)?” Theo asked coming to stand at the door with Stiles. “It doesn’t matter,” Klaus answered not really knowing what to do to calm him down. “It matters if it is going to kill her!” Theo glared. “I’m not going to let it kill her, I just need to talk to Malia, her father could be the only way to save her,” Klaus explained. “Good luck.” Stiles laughed. “What?” Klaus asked. “Peter Hale doesn’t help people,” Stiles said. “I’m not looking for Peter, I’m looking for Henry.” Klaus clarified and Stiles sighed before looking at the ground “Malia and Scott are out in the forest looking for Hayden and Liam, (Y/N) was supposed to go back and get your help looking for them.” “I don’t have time to wait,” Klaus growled. “I can call her if you want,” Stiles suggested. “Ask her if her Dad has ever donated blood,” Klaus ordered as he watched Stiles dial her number. “Malia I need to ask you something.” He said and he waited for the response. “Has your Dad ever donated blood?” Klaus refrained from listening to the conversation opting for being more polite if it was going to get him to what he wanted faster.  “She said that he never has, she said that he’s probably at the Ranch same as always.” “Thank you.” Klaus nodded before he was gone. “I have to go!” Theo said but Stiles stopped him from leaving. “You have to help us find them, come on let's be honest if they save her and we still haven’t found Liam and Hayden she is going to be pissed,” Stiles explained to him and Theo glared at the floor for a minute before he walked back into the house.
You gasped as you woke up “Oh my god that is the worst feeling.” You said to yourself as everything seemed much louder and much clearer. “(Y/N)! (Y/N)!” Hayley called coming to sit in front of you. “What the hell?” You asked. “You're in transition… Remember?” Hayley asked and you looked at her. “I died?” You asked and she nodded. “You were stabbed… Do you remember who it was?” She asked and you closed your eyes. “The Doctors.” You said. “They came in they kept saying distraction, they were just repeating it over and over, like they wanted me to accept it or to justify my death, I don’t know but they killed me.” “So they brought you here for some reason and then you became a distraction and so they killed you, I thought you said that they needed you,” Hayley said. “They needed Theo more.” You frowned. “Unless… Theo was working with them the whole time, they brought me here to make sure that he behaved, I distracted him from whatever he was supposed to be doing and so they killed me figuring that they needed him doing whatever he is here for more than they needed him under control.” “That means that Stiles was right,” Hayley said.
Klaus easily found Malia’s father and got the blood that he needed without hurting anyone much. Klaus was back at the house, he walked through the house that was now fully occupied, he walked into your room to see you tapping away at your phone trying to get a hold of someone. “Hey, little beta I have the blood that you need.” He said softly as he sat at the edge of the bed. “Mm.” You hummed. “Hayley said that you haven’t really moved are you okay?” He asked and you nodded. “I’m fine, it just feels like a full moon every day.” You answered. “It’s a little harder to control but I’ll get used to it.” “How do you feel about it?” Klaus asked. “If you’ve changed your mind then you don’t have to drink it and then…” You looked up at him and smiled softly despite the fact that no one would like for you to die today, he was still willing to give you the chance to choose death. “No, I’m not ready to leave this life, you guys or the pack yet.” You answered taking the vial or blood and downing it in one go. “I think that you should go back to New Orleans, you’ve been gone for too long.” “We can’t go back-” “Mikael isn’t here, in all honesty it has been far too quiet for him to have been here, he doesn’t care what laws he is breaking or how many people are killed because he wants to get to you, I think The Doctors used his memory as a way to get you and by extension me here.” You explained. “Why?” He asked. “They wanted to use me to get Theo under control, I turned out to be more a distraction and that was why they came here was to kill me, but it’s also a possibility that they wanted you out of town.” You explained. “So why would we leave if they want us to?” Rebekah asked from the door. “Because you have more than just one of us to think about.” You said pointed towards Hope in Hayley’s arms “you have to hide her and you need to keep her safe, your plan from before is working but, you still need to go back and deal with the moonlight rings otherwise Klaus always going to be weak on a full moon.” You explained. “There are things that you have to do now before more enemies crawl out of the gutter in New Orleans. Go now.” “What about you?” Hayley asked. “I have to stay here,” You answered. “We have to talk to someone about what is happening to you,” Klaus said. “What about that Theo kid?” “No not him.” You answered. “What?” He asked. “If they were using you to get me then that means that he is working with them and I need to make sure that they don’t know what is going on.” You explained. “I’ll call Stiles.” You answered. “Tomorrow.” You added.
After an almost full day of training in compulsion and control, you called Stiles over so that they could tell him what was going on. “Stiles I have to tell you something.” You said as you sat in the kitchen with him. “Are you okay? Klaus came by yesterday said you were hurt.” Stiles said and you smiled. “I’m fine… Now. Not the same though.” You answered. “What do you mean?” He asked. “Well, I’m a Hybrid.” You answered. “Like Klaus?” He asked and you nodded. “Mhm.” You hummed. “Why tell me?” He asked. “Theo can’t know yet.” You sighed. “I’m sure that he’s working with the Doctors, you were right, I just don’t have any evidence yet.” “Why?” He asked. “The Doctors killed me yesterday, they said that I was a distraction and the only person that I could think of was Theo.” You explained. “Well then what do we do?” He asked. “We have to tell Scott. Do you know where he is?” You asked. “Yeah, he should be at the clinic,” Stiles answered. “Stiles.” You looked to see Klaus was standing at the door. “Can I have a word?” “Yeah sure.” Stiles stood up and followed Klaus. “There’s one other thing that you need to know about,” Klaus said. “That is?” Stiles asked. “Vampires have the ability to turn off their emotions and that means that she could drink the town dry in less than a day.” Klaus answered, “and it won’t matter if you knew her before she won’t care.” “What triggers that?” He asked. “For her loneliness and pain,” Klaus answered. “We have to leave that’s why we are telling you.” “Why are you leaving?” Stiles asked. “I have a daughter to protect and I know that (Y/N) can protect herself and you wouldn’t let anything happen to her,” Klaus answered. “As much as I like to dismiss it you were her pack first.”
You and Stiles pulled up to the clinic at the same time the Scott did “Hey sorry I had trouble starting the Jeep it’s barely hanging on.” Stiles said as you both climbed out of the car. You noticed that there was something wrong “I couldn’t get in touch with Malia or Lydia.” There was silence after that “Scott?” Scott reached into his jacket and pulled out the wrench from the night that Donovan was killed.  “Where’d you get that?” “This is yours?” Scott asked and you came to stand next to Stiles. “Why didn't you tell me?” Scott asked after Stiles took the wrench from him. “I was going to,” Stiles answered looking at the floor. “No, but why didn't you tell me when it happened?” Scott asked. “I couldn't,” Stiles answered. “You killed him? You killed Donovan?” Scott asked. “Well, he was going to kill my dad. Huh? Was I supposed to just let him?” Stiles argued. “You weren't supposed to do this. None of us are.” Scott answered eye shifting to you. “You think I had a choice?” Stiles asked in disbelief. “There's always a choice,” Scott answered. “Yeah, well, I can't do what you can, Scott. I know you wouldn't have done it. You probably would've just figured something out, right?” Stiles' voice rose as he spoke. “I'd try.” Scott nodded. “Yeah, because you're Scott McCall! You're the true Alpha! Guess what? All of us can't be true Alphas. Some of us have to make mistakes. Some of us have to get our hands a little bloody sometimes. Some of us are human! So, you had to kill him? Scott, he was going to kill my dad.” Stiles argued. “But the way that it happened There's a point when it's It's not self-defence anymore!”  Scott said. “What are you even talking about? It was all self-defence.” You cut in. “I didn't have a choice, Scott! You don't even believe us, do you?” Stiles asked. “I want to,” Scott answered and you clenched your fists in irritation. “Okay, all right, so- So, believe us then. Scott, say you believe us. Say it. Say you believe me.” Stiles begged. “Stiles, we can't kill people that we're trying to save.” Scott continued and you shook your head “Say you believe me.” Stiles stepped forward causing Scott to flinch back. “We can't kill people! Do you believe that?” Scot asked. “Well, what do I do about this? What do you want me to do? Okay, just be Scott, just tell me how to fix this, all right? Please, just tell me, what do you want me to do?” Stiles asked. “Don't worry about Malia or Lydia. We'll find them. Maybe... Maybe you should talk to your dad.” Scott answered before he walked away. “Scott wait I ha-” Scott didn’t stop and you glared at the door and let out a harsh laugh “Stiles you go see your Dad but I’m not going to beg for anyone’s forgiveness I don’t need it.” “(Y/N) wa-” You were gone before he could say anything else.
When you got back to the house it was empty and you were alone again, you thought of going back to New Orleans but it all seemed so far away, you just collapsed on the floor tears rolling down your cheeks you felt like you were crying forever and then it all stopped, you felt everything and then nothing at all, you looked up at the empty house and smirked to yourself, if you were going to be alone than you didn’t need to feel anything at all right?
Just like that, the switch was flipped.
