The shutter of a camera drew your attention from the almond blossoms in front of you back to your boyfriend. Shielding your eyes against the spring sun, you turned to see Aether pointing the lens directly in your direction, a sheepish smile on his lips.

“What happened to wanting to take pictures of the flowers?” You asked, feeling the warmth spreading to your cheeks and acknowledging that it wasn’t from the weather. 

“I am, I am, I promise,” Aether replied, scratching the back of his neck before his golden eyes opened again to find yours. “I just couldn’t help myself when you look so much prettier.”

“What a smooth-talker,” you mused as you came to a halt in front of him, reaching out to pick a pale pink flower from his hair, which matched the blush dusting his cheeks and the freckled bridge of his nose. 

Since winter was slowly melting away, the little spots were hardly visible and you were sure you could only make them out because you knew they were there, but you looked forward to the time where his skin would be sunkissed by the beauty of summer.

Intertwining your hand with his warm one, you pulled him with you towards your chequered picnic blanket. You sat with your knees touching, your head resting on Aether’s shoulder and his leaning against the top of yours. For a few moments you rested like that, soaking up the rays of the sun and listening to the birds chirping.

Then, Aether moved to lift the strap of the camera over his head and set the device down to rummage through your basket of snacks. With his focus elsewhere, you could take your time to admire him. The light breaking through the almond trees created a spotted pattern, illuminating different colours of his dyed highlights and reflecting off his jewellery.

Almost unconsciously, your arm stretched towards the camera and you uncovered the lens. A light breeze rustled the leaves and moved the light material of his unbuttoned shirt, strands of his bright hair moving with the wind. Just as you took a picture, more almond blossoms drifted down to aid the dreamy scenery of the moment.

Like you had done earlier, Aether turned towards the sound of the shutter to see your smile half covered by the camera in your hands. The next shot memorialised the endearing surprise painted on his features; the one after that the golden glow of his eyes in the sunlight. The last two pictures captured his gorgeous smile and the way his palm covered the lens.

“Hey! Didn’t you just complain about that?” Aether laughed, helping you put the camera back into its case.

“Sorry,” you teased, letting yourself be pulled back into his chest, “I just couldn’t help myself when you’re this beautiful.”

“What am I going to do with you,” your boyfriend sighed over your shoulder, sounding not at all upset over your smartass comment.

“You could kiss me,” you half-jokingly proposed.

What you didn’t expect was Aether to tilt your head to the side as he leaned down to capture your lips with his. Though, your surprise soon morphed into content reciprocation as you closed your eyes and melted into the rhythm he set. 

All too soon you parted and you took a moment to let the sensation linger before you searched for Aether’s aureate gaze. When your eyes fluttered open, you found he was tracking the movement of his thumb tracing along the curve of your bottom lip, mesmerised in his own world.

“You know,” he hummed, seemingly more to himself, “I wouldn’t mind if you copied this as well.”

There were a lot of things people could hold against summer; the heat, sunburns, mosquitoes. 

But not you. You could never see anything but stellar beauty in summer.

Not when it was the reason why you could lie under a canopy of vines and fairy lights on your balcony, why you could drink in the last rays of light over the horizon in the warm evening air or why you could listen to the birds sing their last song of the evening as the crickets took over from them.

And yet you were even more grateful for being able to card your fingers through your lover’s hair of lightened gold and faded streaks of pink and green. Resembling silk of the highest quality, it draped over his shoulder with the motion of your hand, lifting like a curtain to reveal the sun-kissed skin underneath.

How could you ever scorn summer when it was the reason Aether’s skin was covered in galaxies of sunborn stars?

Slowly, reverently, your fingers traced along the constellations on the top of his shoulders, connecting the stars your lips mapped out as you brushed against the tiny marks you had become as familiar with as with the back of your hand. 

“You know,” the blond spoke up, voice demure as if he didn’t want to disturb the tranquil atmosphere, though those few syllables spoke much louder to the seriousness of the topic he was about to breach. “I used to not like my freckles. I tried hiding them with makeup, wore sleeves long enough to cover them and all. Summer was the worst time for me.”

“What changed?” You asked, brushing your thumb over the freckle clusters on his cheeks as you watched the sun reflect and rise anew in those striking eyes of his. Certainly, a change in attitude such as this, one where he started embracing what he previously disliked, couldn’t have come easy and you didn’t want to diminish his feelings because of your own adoration.

“I met someone,” he whispered, like it was a confession, as his hands took inspiration from your wandering ones. With his fingers splayed over the small of your back, a comfortable warmth spread over the length of your spine as he anchored you in place as if he never wanted to part from you. “Someone who faced those doubts and silenced them with genuine affirmations. Someone who I could show my flaws to without fear of leaving myself vulnerable. Someone who showed me there was a different way to think and made me learn something new about myself.”

“I never thought of them as flaws,” you muttered, hoping to convey all your gratitude in the kiss which followed your thumb’s path. “I’ve always thought they were beautiful.”

“I know,” Aether replied meekly, his usually radiant smile a little wobbly under the onslaught of emotions he was experiencing all at once. “And I’ve always wanted to believe you.”

“I’ll repeat it until you can,” you promised, brushing a strand behind his ear, even if only to give you a chance to trace more of his honeydew skin and reveal more of the freckles  framing his eyes. “Because you deserve to see yourself the way I see you. Nobody should be deprived of a sight this gorgeous.”

“I still don’t think it could hold a candle to what I’m seeing.” His featherlight touch mirrored yours in the position and softness with which he cradled your cheek. The notion of holding the world in one’s hands had never occurred to you as plausible, until you met Aether’s gaze of devotion and veneration.

If you were the world, however, then you must have been holding something otherworldly. With his warm skin hued in an ethereal, aureate glow, it was as if he himself was a star, which had come to you from the vast ocean beyond the sky. Much like wishing upon a shooting star, your dreams had come true as you gazed at him, held him, called him yours and yourself his.

Then, almost as if heaven and earth had willed time to slow, nothing but the two of you existed when you met each other halfway. The kiss was simultaneously too much and not enough and you burrowed your hand in his golden roots, cushioning the back of his head as he let himself fall back, pulling you down with him. 

True to its purpose, the hand on your back kept you steady against him, even as you both caught your breath. Even from the close proximity, you could only stare in awe as your theory of his heavenly origins was proven right by the radiance of his star speckled skin and the brilliant halo framing his face.

So how could you scorn summer when it revealed your lover’s true beauty?

It had been a busy week in which you hadn’t seen much of each other, so when you finally made it to Friday evening, you were overjoyed to see your boyfriend again. Needless to say, when the door swung shut, the first thing you did was flutter some well-earned kisses across his face, not even bothering to take your make-up off.  So when Xiao spotted his reflection in the mirror, the flush on his cheeks wasn’t the only rose colour decorating his beautiful complexion. While you watched his blush darken, he couldn’t meet your eyes in the mirror and you giggled to yourself as you watched them snap to you when you pulled the neckline of his shirt out of the way and planted a final kiss on the base of his neck.

It was your day off, so for once you weren’t out of the house before Scara, instead getting ready at the same time as him. You made him his usual morning coffee to go after he slept over, since he straight up refused to drink anyone else’s, and kissed him goodbye. Not long after he arrived at the piercing studio, notifications started blowing up your phone and you skimmed the furious string of texts, laughing to yourself. Apparently, Xiao hadn’t said anything about the smudge on the corner of his lips, leaving Heizou and Venti to have a field day when they came in, teasing him relentlessly even after he wiped it off.  As for the accusation that you did it on purpose, who was to say…

“Do you still need the make up remover?” Aether asked from outside your bathroom door. You’d both just gotten back from an outing with the others from the piercing shop, staying longer than you initially intended. But that was what always happened. Venti could be very convincing and the group was too much fun to leave early. “I’m done, but I didn’t notice you wearing any makeup earlier,” you admitted, opening the door to let your boyfriend in.  “Well I wasn’t,” Aether sheepishly laughed, rubbing the base of his neck. And then you saw it. Faint traces of colour decorating his temple, cheek, the corner of his mouth and even the parts of his neck and chest not covered by his shirt. A shade that very closely resembled the lipstick you applied before going out. “You might be a bit of an affectionate drunk.” “Oh my— I’m so sorry, Aether,” you apologised, quickly searching around for some cotton pads and wiping the lipstick off his chest, trying not to linger on the thought too much. “Don’t worry, I thought it was cute,” he assured you, his warm smile seemingly lighting up the room. As you leaned in to clean his face, he took the opportunity to steal a quick kiss from you as well. “You should wear it more often, it looked very pretty on you.”

Kazuha had come over for lunch, as he often did, taking a break from his coworkers between the plants, sketching if the time allowed for it. When you both had to return to work, you pressed a sweet kiss against his cheek and then rushed to help a customer. And while neither one of you noticed the colour dusting his cheek, the others sure did and wasted no time pointing it out, though all their teasing comments seemed to bounce right off of him.  He wiped the stain away before any customers came in, laughing off how he hadn’t noticed at all. “Of course you wouldn’t notice,” Heizou agreed, a knowing air about him. “After all, you’re way too busy making heart eyes at your florist to even think about looking anywhere else for a second.”

“Hey honey, could you help me with something real quick?” You called your boyfriend over as you finished applying a new shade of lipstick you bought. As Heizou strolled up to where you were standing, you turned towards him with a smile. “What do you think? Do you like it?” “The colour looks beautiful on you,” he easily replied, sending you a flirtatious wink. “Though I’m not sure if it’s really the colour or just you being gorgeous that’s causing it. Now what did you need help with?” Wrapping one arm around his neck, you pulled him in for a kiss, making sure to firmly plant your lips against his. If your boyfriend was surprised at all, he masked it well, easily melting into the kiss. As you pulled away a little breathlessly, you grinned. “Just wanted to see if it’s really smudge-proof, though I guess it failed in that regard.” You traced a finger around the faint trace of colour on his lips as Heizou took the tube from you and applied the lipstick with pinpoint precision. Turning to you, his olive eyes were gleaming with mischief as he chuckled. “I think we should run a few more tests, just to be sure.”

“This one’s for the song you wrote for me and this one’s for bringing me my favourite coffee without me asking,” you mused, studying your boyfriend’s face covered in pink-hued gloss marks. Somehow a kiss to the temple had ended with you caging Venti against the couch, fluttering a dozen kisses all over the skin you could reach. “Ehe, what can I say, I’m just the best boyfriend ever,” he giggled, tracing his fingers down the contours of your face in return. Then, something in his expression changed and you prepared yourself to shut down whatever idea he was about to propose next. “Maybe I should think about getting one of them tattooed? On my shoulder or so?” “Don’t you dare.”

𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐄 Idol

Ever since you had caught a lot of heat from Childe’s manager for accidentally letting your boyfriend leave with a mark decorating his collarbones, you were very cautious of leaving any visible stains on him, even if it was just makeup.  Still, you found ways to work around this little inconvenience. There was one time you signed off a little post-it note you left on the fridge for him, wishing him good luck for a performance, with a lipstick stain. After seeing his reaction of childish glee, it became a staple in your relationship. Then again, whenever Childe came home from work with his makeup still on, he never failed to press a big, fat, lip gloss stained kiss on your cheek, chuckling like the menace he is when you make a show of wiping it off.

Diluc had seen his fair share of shameless make outs during his time at the Angel’s Share and normally he just turned his head the other way, not sure why people would enjoy slobbering all over each other. Well, that was until he met you anyway.  Though he’d like to think he was more composed than the intoxicated people at his club, whenever you pressed your lips against his, he thought he might get drunk off of you. He swallowed hard when you pulled away, mind still trying to process what was happening as his eyes tracked the movement of your own kiss-swollen lips, not hasty to wipe away the traces of you against his skin.

Kaeya actually revelled in it whenever you leave any type of mark on him, as long as it didn’t lead to a scolding from his manager. Whether it was something more durable like a hickey or something easily wiped off like a lipstick stain, Kaeya always looked very smug about it afterwards. After all, the marks were a testimony to the events that transpired previously, and what could he say, Kaeya enjoyed those very much. Even more so considering he knew his way around a makeup bag, confidently picking out shades that looked gorgeous on you and even more gorgeous when they were smudged around the corner of your lips and over his skin. In his opinion, every photo of the aftermath was more stunning than any of his cover shoots.

His plush lips, curled into a loving smile, are painted in a flattering shade of red and your gaze was trained on them as you came to stand in front of him. “Are you trying a new shade? It suits you well.” “I am. I’m glad you like it,” he hummed, tilting his head in contemplation. “I wonder…” Cupping your cheek in his palm, the demon leaned towards you and you instinctively closed your eyes as his soft lips pressed against yours with purpose. As always his kisses made a part of your brain short circuit and you blinked at him dazedly for a moment after you parted. There was a satisfied gleam in his bright eyes as he wiped at your bottom lip with his thumb, studying the red stain he left. “As expected, it’s an even lovelier colour on you, my flower.”

“Little lamb, come here for a second.” Valefar was no stranger to finding your lipstick smudges at the rim of his drinks or wiping smudges of colour and gloss from his cheek before leaving for the casino after you gave him a kiss goodbye. He didn’t mind, found it cute even, but as he regarded the pink stain on the collar of his white dress shirt in the lounge’s mirror, he knew it won’t come off with a quick swipe of his thumb. It wasn’t a big deal, he kept spare shirts in his office, but Val wouldn’t pass on the opportunity to fluster you. “Care to explain yourself?” You were halfway through stuttering out a sheepish apology when Valefar backed you against his desk, keeping you pinned to him with a hand on your back. Intense amber eyes keep contact with yours as he leaned down to suck a noticeable hickey on the same spot his collar would be, knowing your clothes barely wouldn’t be able to hide it. “Debts should be repaid, wouldn’t you agree?”

It was a pleasant day in the Devildom, as pleasant as it could be in a realm without the sun anyway, pulling the two of you out into town. While strolling from apparel stores to gaming shops, you passed a café you frequented and decided to stop by for some refreshments. As you pointed around various shop displays, you had the sinking feeling that your drink emptied faster than usual. And when you spotted the colourful stain that had transferred from your straw to your boyfriend’s lips, you caught the culprit red- handed (or rather red-lipped). When confronted he merely chuckled playfully before swooping in to steal a kiss on top of your drink, staining them with more of your lipstick and thereby destroying the evidence. (His straw also became more colourful as he offered you his drink as compensation.)

When Vil gifted you a set of lipsticks and glosses from a campaign he was part of and had no need for, you accepted them gratefully. You just finished sorting through all the shades and trying out a pretty shade of red, when there was a knock on your door and Cheron sauntered into your room.  “There you are,” he grinned, charming without even having to try, before pulling you close and stealing the air from your lungs with a kiss. For someone who claimed to not be interested in ferrying more souls to hell, he sure seemed intent on trying to kill you. “What’s this you got there? Vil’s new collab?” “Right you are,” you paused, peering around him to the lipstick tube in your hand and chuckling as you read the shade name. Pressing another kiss right onto the middle of his cheek as payback for his usual schemes, you took in the red matching the colour on the corner of his lips. “Don’t you think it’s a beautiful colour, Cherry? It does match your hair and eyes. Maybe I should start calling you that.” There was a dangerous glint in his crimson eyes, clearly aware of the red staining his face, as he swiped his thumb under your bottom lip where the lipstick left a smudge as well.  “You have a lot of nerve marking the Prince of Hell.” His grin showed off the points of his fangs more clearly now, clearly amused at your little stunt, taking a step forward and walking you backwards towards the edge of your bed. “That’s fine. If you can handle the consequences, that is.”

When he felt like nobody around him understood him, Xiao fell into the comforting embrace of music, listening to artists who sang about the sentiments he kept to himself. It has always helped him express himself with pencil and pen though, letting the graphite tip dance over the paper more smoothly and less hesitantly. To this day, Xiao uses music to block out the world when it all gets too much and familiar tunes help him calm down.

Scara has been heavily influenced by Venti whose music could always be heard throughout their shared flat. While it vexed him at first, soon he found himself nodding along to the melodies, something his roommate noticed and then offered to share a Spotify account until Scara decided to make his own. And, although he’d rather die than admit it, despite how much he loathes his upbringing, he can’t deny that some classic pieces sneaked in between his usual rotation.

Kazuha loves to let his spirit rest as he absorbs the feelings artists pour into their music. For him, it’s important that he can connect to the story that’s being told, either through the lyrics or the sentiment the music conveys. He opts for rather calm songs that invite you to relax even if there’s a deeper meaning to the lyrics. Music is a way for him to create his peace of mind when he can’t be out and surrounded by the sound of nature.

the definition of “listens to every genre” but has a soft spot for deep and tragic lyrics paired with a funky and upbeat sound

Venti’s Spotify account is working overtime, that app is never closed. As a former band member, he knows how to play a variety of instruments and has tried a lot of styles himself, so he’s very open minded when it comes to new genres. He also absolutely kills it at karaoke nights, even if he’s already a few drinks in. Something might actually be wrong when he’s not nodding or singing along to the music playing in his head or tapping out the beat on whatever surface is closest. In general, handing Venti the aux is a fantastic idea because he can somehow always accurately gauge what music is the right mood for the given situation. He also judges films based on the soundtrack.

For Aether, listening to music is the time he can let his (gorgeous) hair down. While he’s normally busy making sure everyone else is okay and is doing fine, he seldom takes the time to take care of himself. So when he can lean back and turn up the volume, it’s a very welcome breath of fresh air. The deep base and powerful voices help catalyse any feelings that might have built up over time, and, just maybe, the songs and lyrics are familiar from the time he was lost and confused about what his place in the world was. Yet, he can also appreciate the catchy tunes of popular pop songs that get stuck in his head.

It’s also a great gateway to interacting with customers; you better believe Heizou is already halfway into a conversation when he catches a glimpse of a photocard.

Giving: Quality Time

Of course, quality time isn’t a one-sided thing but Xiao loves to spend time with you. Whether you’re actually doing something together or are just present in the same room doesn’t matter as much as being near you. There’s something very comforting about you being within reach and funnily enough his heart can’t stop racing when the setting turns domestic.

Receiving: Physical Touch

He loves your touch, the feel of your skin against his, always treating him so gently. But Xiao’s not the greatest at initiating it even if he really wants to hold you, so he’s at the receiving end most of the time. Linking pinkies, holding hands, slinging your legs over his lap, hugging him from behind, rolling on top of him in your sleep… whether or not he can see it coming, your touch is always more than welcome.

Giving: Acts of Service

It’s clear by now that Scaramouche isn’t the greatest with words; they tend to come out harsher than he intends them to and he’d hate nothing more than accidentally hurting you, so he resorts to showing his affection rather than voicing it. Or that was how it was in the beginning. By now, doing things for you is something he enjoys because he can see how relieved you are when a chore is taken off your plate or how your eyes light up when he makes your favourite dinner. Yeah yeah, he’s the greatest, no need to thank him so profusely (actually keep doing it though, your praise means everything to him).

Receiving: Words of Affirmation

Speaking of praise, you really don’t need to question how his hand covers his cheek or why he turns his head whenever you compliment him. Doesn’t matter if it’s because of work or a new drawing or the outfit he chose to wear, this man will soak up all your flattering words… but not without turning bright red. So pull him out from under his hat and tell him something you like about him; not only is he cute to watch when he’s flustered, it also really means something to him.

Kazuha

Giving: Words of Affirmation

Uhm yeah, Kazuha + Words of Affirmation, who would’ve seen it coming… but it’s true!! Between his eloquent vocabulary and his soft, soothing voice, this man can compliment you five hundred new ways this week, next week and all the way into the next year. The real kicker? It’s always, without fail, genuine. Sure, everyone can sweet talk but Kazuha means it all. Even if he isn’t there with you; he frequently texts throughout the day or leaves sticky notes around the house for you to find. How’s your heart doing? Has it been able to calm down or is your doctor concerned for you?

Receiving: Physical Touch

You might be the one giving here but don’t expect to not get flustered. Sure, you were the one to link your fingers but Kazuha was the one who twirled you around like a dancer. And yes, you might have made yourself at home tugged into his side but how did you end up in his lap? Evidently, Kazuha enjoys your touch just as much as you enjoy touching him, so indulge him a little and come over to him, alright?

Aether

Giving: Gift Giving

Aether is a bit of a travel- enthusiast, so whenever he visits somewhere new, he’s sure to bring you something. And he always makes sure it’s something you’d enjoy. But he doesn’t have to go out of town to bring you a little trinket. Often enough, he shows up with flowers or he drew something and is giving it to you or he was at a pottery shop and look here, you have a new mug. It’s hard not to think of Aether when you look around your home or pick jewellery for that day, his gifts are everywhere. (Maybe that was his endgame all along?)

Receiving: Acts of Service

The poor guy often makes sure the shop doesn’t unravel at the seams by picking up after the others and sorting out their messes, so he breathes a sigh of relief at every chore that’s not falling on him. It could be something small like bringing him lunch or picking the lint off his clothes or something bigger like doing his laundry or cleaning around his place when you know he’s swamped with work and other responsibilities. Whatever you decide to lend a hand with, Aether will forever be grateful to you, wondering how he got lucky enough to meet you.

Heizou

Giving: Physical Touch

Heizou is… a menace. Are you jumpy? Because he’ll startle you so often if you are. Not only because he literally can’t keep his hands off of you and comes up at the most random times just to sling his arm around your shoulders, but also because your reactions are just so adorable to him. But he can be just as cute. Like when he sees something that catches his eye and he grabs your hand instinctively to pull you along while he breaks out into an excited grin or when he swoops you up from your feet so he can settle you onto the couch next to him.

Receiving: Quality Time

This man’s curiosity knows no bounds. And what’s better than to learn something new while spending time with his precious partner? Take him to a museum or, better yet, an escape room and his heart is all yours (as if it wasn’t already). Sure, new knowledge is fun but applying his wits on a puzzle turns him into a child at the candy store. Plus, not only is Heizou going to be stoked, you get to watch and join him in his enthusiasm as he works away, probably figuring everything out way ahead of you but pretending not to, so you can have a crack at the problems too.

Venti

Giving: Words of Affirmation

Another one who will make you swoon with words but Venti goes all out… very casually. You wake up some days to find a good morning text and a poem he wrote at 3am right above it (since he’s often up late, that happens a lot… the wine might help). Or he’ll pluck one of his instruments from the wall while you’re visiting and improvise a song for you, playing it as if he’d known it all his life. It might sound over the top to some but with the amount of attention he pays to details and incorporating even the smallest, (to you) most insignificant things he loves about you, you know he means all of it. Especially when he plucks the strings of his instrument and closes his eyes like he’s having the sweetest of dreams as he spins a new verse about you, his muse.

Receiving: Gift Giving

First of all, this man will keep everything you gift him, everything. The shiny stone you found on a walk and gave him? It’s on his windowsill (and he let out such an offended gasp when Scara tried to throw it out). The hoodie you left at his house? He wears it everyday until you ask for it back. You can hear Venti approach from a mile away because he has every keychain you ever gave him on him, either with his keys or on his bag or tied to his clothes, he’s not leaving a single one behind.

hello miss witch, i have a question for you if you don't mind c:

i've read about that sweet ask left by the snowflake anon and then the compliments (?) from another anon about that work with scara ending up late because of morning kisses and cuddles

this actually had me wondering how would the anemo boys react to a sudden sneak attack consisting in kisses all over their faces, no spot/inch left untouched

if you need an example, this one: aether is minding his own business, maybe sketching a new tattoo idea, or drawing for fun, or doing whatever maybe while sitting, and his sweet lil partner comes behind him, engulfing him in a warm hug before leaving numerous (very numerous, almost too many one could say) kisses and smooches all over his face, so many that no inch is left untouched: cheeks, cheekbones, eyes, forehead, temples, nose, lips as the final touch, before stopping satisfied and go back to whatever this partner was doing before this sudden love shower, their lover boy probably short circuited by this

Aether’s sketchbook lay discarded on the coffee table, having to make room for you to scoot into the place it previously occupied. With his hands now free to hold you, you could easily rest your head on your boyfriend’s slowly rising and falling chest.

Catching up on a show you were watching together, your hands were tangled in the ends of Aether’s long hair, the blond strands soft but still showing some of the colour that had washed out over time. 

When the show hit a bit of a sag in tension and nothing really happened to move the plot further, your gaze landed on the empty mugs in front of you and you untangled your legs from Aether’s to push yourself up.

But your decision to grab new drinks was delayed as you glanced down at your boyfriend underneath you, looking ethereal with his golden hair splayed around him like a molten halo, his bright eyes focusing on you at your movement.

“Hm, what are you-“

His breath hitched as you leant down to plant a soft kiss against his temple, his skin warm and smooth against your lips. Not able to resist, you trailed more kisses over his temple, all over his cheeks dimpling with his smile, his melodic giggles floating through your living room until you reached the corner of his mouth.

You attacked his nose next, simultaneously pushing the loose strands of his hair behind his ear with the hand not used to support yourself, just so you could flutter a swarm of butterfly kisses over his pierced ears.

The skin underneath the pad of your thumb grew steadily hotter as you caressed the arch of his cheekbone, your lips busy mapping out the path from behind his ears, over his jaw and down his throat. 

By now his heart beat was thumping faster against your chest than before and you know Aether was trying to control his breathing, only to be betrayed by his own shaky exhale. He swallowed hard as you lingered over the sensitive spot where his neck met his shoulder, before continuing south as far as the collar of his shirt would let you.

As you sat up on your knees between his legs, you studied your boyfriend’s flushed face, seeing how his brain tried to catch up to what happened just now, his fingers twitching without his arms complying to bring them any closer to you.

“I’m getting up to get new drinks, of course,” you cheekily answered his previous question, moving to unfold your legs from underneath yourself and slinging them over the edge of the couch. 

Aether mumbled something under his breath as you stood up and you urged him to repeat himself, louder this time. There was more clarity in his eyes when you looked back at him, subconsciously licking his lips.

“I said, didn’t you forget somewhere?” The question was airy in the delicate atmosphere, as if any more force could shatter the bubble you found yourself in, where only him and you existed.

Pretending to contemplate for a moment, you agreed with a grin but didn’t bend down over his mouth. Instead you quickly lifted the hem of his shirt and your lips made contact with the cool metal of his belly button piercing, giving it more attention than the others before. With your hand splayed on his warm stomach, you could feel the sharp intake of air under your colder fingertips and you followed his skin relentlessly before letting up with a smirk.

Satisfied with the state you left your boyfriend in, you turned towards the kitchen to actually fetch new drinks but the action left Aether outside your field of vision. 

So, when his slender fingers wrapped around your wrist, a surprised gasp left your lips and you were quickly spun back towards your couch and flipped over to have your back meet the couch cushions.

Perhaps with your boyfriend now hovering over you and his blond hair tickling the side of your face, it was a good moment to remember how unassumingly agile he was.

There was a competitive sparkle in his eyes as a grin playfully curled around his lips and you closed your eyes when he leant down to mirror your actions. But instead of starting from your temple like you did, the featherlight touch of his soft lips against your earlobe sent a shiver down your spine as he whispered to you.

“It’s my turn now, beautiful.”

[re: your beauty’s in season]

i have a deep seated appreciation for nature’s beauty, like the planet we live on is overwhelmingly beautiful all year round if you take the time to stop and take it all in and i just kinda linked that to the modern au while i was working on sth else for it

it was a late night prompt that just materialised inside my brain from one moment to the next after thinking about how aether is just so summer-y of a person and then the puzzle pieces for the others just clicked into place perfectly afterwards, so much so that i had to put all my pending asks to the side and write it down next

winter and autumn are such cozy seasons!! i love bundling up in soft sweaters and warm blankets as the smell of apples, cinnamon and baked goods wafts through the house… i can definitely see why those two have piqued your interest!!

though since it’s currently transitioning from spring to summer here in the northern hemisphere, i’m soaking up the sun (not managing to get an even tan as usual) and looking at all the colourful plants as bumblebees fly about!!

i’m sorry i’m always taking so long with the au!! i’d promise to do better in the future but i literally can’t, so i hope you guys can be a little patient with me and enjoy the small crumbs i leave every now and then, even if it’s just a stray ask ㅠㅠ
