because a) some those comics fuck with awing dexterity and stamina b) there's a good chance shit is out of context or simply misrepresented (innocently, humorously, ignorantly or maliciously) and c) you know the beats/endings of tons of shit, but it doesn't impede your enjoyment of it, now does it? sure it's nice to go in spoiler free, but if the gimmick of spoiling material is all a piece of media has, then that piece of media is meritless. you knew who luke skywalker's father was before you saw the movie. is it still worth watching? you knew romeo and juliet died before you read the play. is it still worth reading? do you not want to go on a journey? do you not want to feel something? do you not want to commiserate about the human experience through art? a wiki will never be comprehensive enough to cover everything you would have read or seen yourself--it can't be, not without being the thing itself. even then, you still miss the things not on the page/screen, the things that are only implied, the things that go unstated, or else conspicuously omitted. don't talk to me about shit haunting the narrative if the only haunting you've ever been apart of was your passing despite your dogshit analysis skills haunting the conscience of your eng 101 adjunct professor in perpetual fear of losing their contract and being relocated from their car to under a bridge by demanding college students demonstrate basic reading comprehension, critical thinking, and coherent argumentative skills. boast about killing the author? my friend, you are cain advancing in the fields, skulking, stepping in abel's footprints, filled with murderous intent, with nothing but the chinese telephone-equivalent of a description of a weapon cutting into your soft palms.

I just realised why I like the "impossible love" trope so much.

You see, when an "impossible love" is portrayed in media, its about two people that love each other so deep, so much, so hard. The circumstances are what makes it impossible for them to be together, but if it was for them... if it was for them everything would be so perfect.

If it was for them, they would live the happily ever after they've always dreamt of, either together or each on their own. They would kiss and smile out in broad daylight, hold hands, and enjoy the other's smile, their laugh, the sparkle in their eyes. And they would be in love the way they want to be in love.

But they can't. Because of the end of the world, a war, a family feaud, a promise, their duty, pure hate towards them... and it can't be. But they want it to be. It's not that there's no love. It's not that there's no desire or willingness or lack of fear or doubt. Is that there is something bigger than themselves that prevents them from showing it out loud.

And maybe it's terrible and I shouldn't wish for this but, I can't help but want a love where the reason it isn't happening is not because they don't love me or I don't love them, I don't wanna have any more one-sided love, I'm tired of it. I just would like an impossible love that isn't impossible because of us, but because of them.

I just wrote a very long rant and deleted it again but!! if any of you EVER have even a tiny bit of imposter syndrome when it comes to academic writing I am very happy to inform you that you absolutely do not need any of that, because as I've witnessed countless times by now, even some professors (especially professors) do not know how to use citation software but will also refuse to put any bibliographic information into the WIP document, and instead rely on their asistant's psychic powers to figure out what needs to go into the bibliography of their texts.

Riku looked at Vanitas as he sat on his bed that evening. It had been a long day of being by each other's sides , enjoying the company that the other brought along with them . At this point , it seemed like the warmth each brought to the other was [ [ c o m m o n ] ] , in that there never seemed to be a shortness of it no matter what their circumstances . It was a time when Riku thought best to finally ask the question that had been [ [ i t c h i n g ] ] at his mind . He didn't like the unknown , nor did he like wasting his time . Not that he thought he was with Vanitas , it was very clear that he [ [ w a s n ' t ] ] , but they had yet to talk about what they were to each other . . . So Riku blurted out the question --

" . . What am I to you ? "

-- Which , was then met with silence . . . but not for long .

Eventually , as Vanitas closed the distance between them , the Dawn Prince couldn't help the little smile that lay across his lips . His hands came to [ [ r e s t ] ] on the other's waist as he tilted his head back with ease. He closed his eyes while their lips came together in a kiss so [ [ g e n t l e ] ] , one would have sworn Vanitas thought Riku was made of glass . When their kiss ended and Vanitas spoke , Riku felt his eyes begin to [ [ g l o s s ] ] over . He sat up on his knees to shorten their distance even more while he remained on his bed and Vanitas stood before him . Surely , he didn't deserve this . What could he have possibly done [ [ t o ] ] deserve it ? He didn't know , but hearing those two simple words sealed him to a fate he was not about to let slip through his fingers .

' My Salvation .'

He breathed a trembling sigh as his fingers [ [ t i g h t e n e d ] ] into Vanitas' shirt . His eyes opened to half for a moment before those same half gold and half aquamarine eyes lifted to find the amber hues that they now called [ [ h o m e ] ] .

" . . . and you are my Light . "

Riku's voice is soft as he speaks those words , leaving just enough volume for the other to hear and the other to hear alone . Those words were for him to keep , to [ [ h a v e ] ] and to cherish .

Come what may , I will love you . . .

. . . Until my dying day .

Pulled from the concatenations of the future, a dive from Veiled Falls resulted in a beam of light emerging from the pool below. What was meant to be a training reference for her little brother, resulted in her resurfacing to another world.

As soon as she oriented herself, she knew she wasn't home. The waters surrounding her were not her own.

"Sidon?" She tested warily, golden hues searching for any sign of her little brother or the Domain she called home. She tried again, her voice more frantic and worried this time. "Sidon!" But he didn't answer back.

There was no sight of the domain. The ivory towers or the luminescent glow of the walkways were nowhere in sight, and her people had vanished as though the domain never existed. Yet.

She circled in the same spot she submerged from, her hands wafting out in front of her. Water trickled where her hands moved, but the earth was silent save for the distance sound of birds flapping through the canopy or the rustling of creatures through foliage.

All around her, a dense forest was thick with trees and vegetation. It was deserted, not yet inhabited, and she eventually discovered that she was in the middle of a vast lake.

The water felt ancient and didn't hold the memories of the world she knew. This water hadn't gone through its cycle of collecting dynasties and memories of the future. It hadn't established its world yet. She could sense the youngness in its ripples. It was birthed before the great Princess Ruto's time, and the waters were so clear and uncontaminated, she could see to the very bottom of the lake. How strange, to swim in waters that have not lived through history.

She examined her surroundings one more time, ensuring that she wasn't in any danger, and then began to trek to the edge. There was no time to panic now. She needed to keep herself calm lest she become dispirited. She couldn't let her fears get the best of her.

First, she needed to find out where she was, unaware of the holiness watching over her as soon as she'd arrived in this world.

but all would be revealed soon. She could feel it in her heart.

Something was calling to her. Something from the past.
