I really want to see a more fucked up version of Charlie in canon. Like, okay, I am a die-hard for sweet bubbly girls in media. But I always see how some people make Charlie actually, oh I dunno... demonic? And it's so refreshing for her type of character. I could honestly see her having low empathy (and we kinda see this with how she handled Angel's situation or even Vaggie's nervousness about taking control on an activity). An exploration of that trait (if it was intended) would be interesting to see for a protagonist, especially when her main goal is about helping others. I would love to see her actually have a level of difficulty in understanding others' feelings from the other residents, sinners, and even her father.

But give her a fucked up side. Not a "she gets more power when she's angey uwu", but a "oh, she's a little fucked in the head". It would give so much to her character that she just doesn't have.

@/murmurmurena (don't wanna bother them so slash there we go) has some fun ideas with Charlie. I highly encourage people to check their stuff out! So many fun dark ideas with her character while also still keeping to her canon personality pretty well! Personally, I think Charlie being a bit more naive to her own messed up traits would work best but her also being aware of these traits can make for some interesting character for her.

THIS FIC, "A Game Between You and I". RIGHT HERE WITH THE FIRST CHAPTER. A bit of spoil for the fic here: but I love how they handled Charlie’s absolute ignorance as to why the idea of Russian roulette is horrifying to Angel Dust. It doesn't feel like her being intentionally malicious or aware that she's the odd man out here. This is also a pretty old fic going by only the pilot, but the point still stands that it was such a fun take for her character!

Charlie is one of my favorite characters in the show in part of the POTENTIAL she could have as being the most bubbly sweetheart character while also being the most messed up character in the show. I can't say I have strong confidence with the show's writing and fully expect them to stick with Charlie being the "nice girl but oh no, don't get her angry or she gets scarwy". Which isn't bad for a character mind you, there's just so much more potential to Charlie outside of that trope, especially when you get into the theories of her either being a doll, Roo's biological daughter, or what have you. And for the MAIN CHARACTER of the show, it would be not only interesting but also bring the spotlight back to her.

There's really no question that the side characters steal the show, particularly all the male characters. If I'm honest, Charlie does not feel like she gets a lot of love from the show itself when she's supposed to be the main character. She feels far more flat compared to the rest of the characters (again, the male cast in this "female-lead" show has more depth than most of the female cast currently. I wouldn't be pointing this tidbit concerning the genders of characters if it weren't for the fact Viv defended Helluva's lack of development with their female cast by saying "Hazbin is a female-lead show and Helluva is a male-lead" and Hazbin ended up with it not feeling female lead (to me) and the male cast just completely stealing the show. I don't normally care about gender stuff, especially since I do personally lean interest towards male characters. But using one show as a defense for poor development of the female characters, and then that show not really holding up with no very interesting well-developed feeling female characters irritates me. It's just very clear that these shows don't seem to care much about the female cast :/)

If you like how Charlie is written that's totally fine. PERSONALLY, I just think they're missing so much opportunity with her character by just making her the standard female character type. I honestly don't have a lot of faith they'll actually do something with Charlie's character though. She's a pretty static character in S1 being the same from start to end. Not changing or learning anything to create any development. What does the end of season Charlie do that start of season Charlie wouldn't do? Fight back? Because we see with the pilot (which is the “first episode”) that Charlie does fight people if pushed like with Katie Killjoy and even Valentino. Static characters can work in media depending on the show or their role. But Charlie is the MC of a show about “bettering one's self”. So to have her as a static with not a lot of strong dilemmas for herself (like we see with Angel Husk Al and even Vox) seems silly. Plus, considering Hazbin is telling a whole story and it's not a fun episodic thing, characters are expected to grow on some level. Or else, what was the point of their hero's journey?

Damn, that a hard one. Usually, when he thinks about his employees, he thinks about them both at the same time. He has to make a conscious effort to think of one without the other. The M&Ms are a package deal. That's something he has recognised and accepted pretty quickly, even if at times he acts like he hasn't.

After all, and this is something he'll never admit out aloud, what attracts him to them is also their relationship. Strong, solid, balance, loving. Everything his own bonds have never been.

Vivziepop Can't Write WLW Characters

Let's start with her biggest example of a WLW ship:

Charlie and "V*ggie"

Charlie and "V*ggie" (who I will be calling Valkyrie) are Viv's main example to run to when people accuse her of only representing plain, boring, white twinks. But I have several issues with this. To start, they hardly act like a couple, and when they do, it's hardly the bare minimum. The most they do that can be considered "romantic" is talk sweet with each other and kiss on screen like 2 times.

Charlie is just a blank slate who only has the traits of "nice and naive" going for her. Meanwhile, Valkyrie is just a man-hating, aggressive, lesbiphobic stereotype with a disgusting and insensitive name. Her entire character is just "Charlie's girlfriend/babysitter" who gets forgiven in basically 10 seconds by Charlie despite hiding that she lied (supposedly for years) about the fact that she used to mindlessly aid in the genocide of Charlie's people for God knows how long.

And that's not even getting into the issue with her just being a walking "spicy" Latina stereotype.

Millie/Cherri Bomb

Did you know that either of these characters are WLW? No. Of course you didn't. And how could you?

Millie is hardly a character in her own right, just being boiled down to "Moxie's wife", and Cherri just being boiled down to "Angel's friend/Sir Pentious's love interest". Neither of them are even remotely implied to have ANY attraction to female/fem-presenting characters. And while I know that being in a opposite-sex relationship doesn't invalidate anyone's identity, you also kind of have to show that these characters do in fact also show SOME attraction to women/fem people. Which Vivziepop is frankly unprepared/uninterested in doing.

It's not even a proper case of representation??? It's played off like a "haha s3x!" joke, except this time it's EXTRA funny because "haha lesbians"? What the hell, Vivzie.

On the topic of sexualitys in Vivzepop shows I really hate how pan and lesbian identities are non existent in her shit because this woman rather focus gay men (in a fetishized way)

blitzo is canonically pansexual yet the fandom couldn’t tell because one everyone thought he was bi due to spring broken and his obsession with moxxie and Millie and two throughout the show we see him flirt with men and fuck Chaz which confused people because he comes off as gay instead of pan

then poor vaggie (great the only lesbian character is named after a Virgina) is the man hating stereotype AND her Charlie doesn’t barely act like a couple because again Vivzepop rather see two twinks fuck each other 🙄🙄🙄

Yeah, it’s so weird how the most of the characters are either gay or bisexual, as if those are the only two sexualities Vivziepop cares about (likely so she can make male twinks fuck like you mentioned)

Also Valkryie (I refuse to call her V@ggie) being the only lesbian character in Hazbin is funny as fuck because you’d expect for a show that’s female driven to have more lesbian characters than just another main character that’s poorly written.

While there are two pansexual characters in the Hellaverse (Blitz and Husk) I’m honestly not surprised that people saw them as either bi or gay considering how non binary characters…just don’t exist in either Hazbin or Helluva. Both Husk and Blitz are also paired with men in canon (Angel Dust and Stolas) so it’s honestly not very surprising that fans saw them as gay rather than their canonical sexualities

To conclude this, Best Queer Representation award my ass, Vivziepop is a Fujoshi to a T and there’s next to no asexual or aromantic characters aside from Alastor (and even then, he’s heavily sexualized in the fandom and paired with Lucifer romantically)

Saint didn't know what it was, but... it just seems like Millie was holding back about something. The way that she bit her lip? He only perceived it that she wanted to say more than she actually did. Or... maybe it was just out of anxiousness from the whole thing? Regardless, he was definitely reading into her expressions a bit more than he should. Propping his elbows up on the table, he leaned in forward a bit -- his posture a bit more invading to give her his full attention.

"...Oh, yeah? Then, what is your game, then? 'Cause somebody like you really don't have no business hangin' around somebody like me. And shit... I think you know that, don't you?" He proclaimed, the crooked smile that he had wore before was making its return. "...How's the tequila by the way? It ain't the cheap kind."

millie couldn't remember how they got tangled up in each other in the first place, just that against her better judgement, she always came abck to saint, always wanting more of his time, more of his attention. perhaps it started off from a naive, bitter little rich girl standpoint, but now there was something else there that she couldn't quite give a name.

"i have to worry my pretty little head, saint. i can't let something happen to you just being someone treated me wrong." millie said, teeth biting at her bottom lip. "even if i know you can handle yourself, i am still going to worry." she said, wanting to reach out and take his hand, but she held back, taking another long sip of the offered drink. "i hope you don't think that's what i keep coming around here for. tearing people down, ruining lives or ending them, that's not my game."

Millie bit back a sigh as she stopped in front of the door of the hospital room. She shouldn't be the one visiting, but Blitzo had showed no intentions of wanting to do it himself, so she had decided to taken on the responsibility in his place.

Under other circumstances, she would have grabbed her boss by the tail and dragged him to the hospital, but she hadn't missed the shocked expression that had appeared on the other imp's face at the news that Stolas had been hurt. She knew that it would take him some time to digest the knowledge that the Prince wasn't as invulnerable as Blitzo had apparently been thinking till now.

The problem was that with her boss "some time" could have meant any time between a week and a year. She was certain that the owl would have preferred seeing a friendly face before the next Harvest Moon Festival.

Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, Millie adjusted the large bouquet of purple flowers she was holding in one arm and knocked on the door before slowly lowering the handle and opening it enough to be able to stick her head inside.

The shutters were almost completely closed, plunging the room into dim-darkness. Her eyes adjusted quickly to the lack of light and swiftly found the Prince's figure, laid down on the bed, in the middle of a forest of red flowers.

"Your Highness?" She called out, loud enough to be heard, but still quietly enough not to disturb him, had the other been asleep. "T's Millie, from I.M.P. Is this a gud moment? Or should Ah come back later?"

okay, first off I wanna say- LEAVE TAKASHI ALONE. DO NOT GO AND HARASS THEM FOR THEIR OPINIONS. I would’ve removed these links if possible but since I can’t I’m trusting you all.

Post 1:

Oh boy “it takes place in hell” again, take a shot- look, YES, it DOES take place in hell, the people there are going to be bad people- but the issue is that it’s just so BORING. No one has any interesting dynamics, everyone just insults each other and that’s supposed to be the basis of the joke. Plus I admit this is more of an issue in Helluva but the idea of morality in hell is all over the place- it’s hell and demons are all supposed to be evil, yet Stolas being in an abusive relationship is portrayed as bad and we have characters like Moxxie and Millie who are overall decent people.

I’m at least glad to see that someone is acknowledging how awfully the show is paced, but even then your defense is pretty weak. I didn’t expect a ton out of eight episodes but Viv COMPLETELY overshot it and decided we had to get to heaven THIS SEASON so RANDOM FIVE MONTH TIMESKIP AND WE DON’T SEE ANY OF ANGEL’S ACTUAL REDEMPTION.

As for your other point…no? This happens All The Time? Again, using Helluva but look at Exes and Oohs- Viv had the dildo jokes happen constantly after serious scenes because she was CONVINCED they were the funniest thing ever. It comes back in Hazbin too, albeit not to that extent- remember how the scene where it’s revealed V used to be an exorcist is ended with Adam screaming “HELL YES SUCK IT” in Charlie’s face, completely ruining any tension?

And finally, the dick jokes point. Listen, I am NOT against sex jokes. I think a sex joke can be funny, and it doesn’t even have to be well constructed. The issue with Helluva and Hazbin’s sex jokes is that they’re like….50-75% of all the jokes made. Yea sure it’s only Angel in Hazbin (which it ISN’T because once again Adam makes the CONSTANTLY) but considering he’s a main character, it gets old fast. And not only that, but everyone liked Hazbin in concept so much because we hoped it would BE DIFFERENT- that it would be an adult comedy that DOESN’T over rely on dick jokes. But…here we are, so we can all tell how that went.

"Niffty can get it clean or make art out of the stains. All the little details on Alastor's coat is mostly to hide the blood." He gave him a small nod of approval. It wasn't much but the cat was trying his best.

He put the box down to pull out a very special blend. He began to put the mix in a cup and poured a few liquors on top. "Moxxie this is a trip you don't need to leave the hotel for and it's got Alastor's antlers so it is an aphrodisiac as well." He offered him the glass. He went over to Millie to talk Millie. He pointed over to Moxxie and she nodded before running over.

"Mox you go easy okay. I'll carry you home." She wrapped her rail around him pulling him over the bar for a kiss. "Remember that ass is mine." She said giving both cheeks a squeeze.

He stretched his shirt out to investigate the stain. "Nope. Not ours." Still it was a nasty one. These probably weren't worth it to clean. Maybe they could have a bonfire later. He'd have to bring the idea up to Millie. Husk's pat broke him out of his thoughts as his tail waved.

He caught the noise Husk made but he didn't draw attention to it. He was glad it made him happy. He couldn't imagine working at the hotel was an easy job. His invite took him by complete surprise. He had to stop and take a look around him before pointing to himself. "Are you sure you want to take me somewhere?" If so Moxxie was ready to bounce off the walls.
