방송업을 모르는 사람이라도 한국에서 사회생활을 해봤다면 민희진이 하이브를 대하는 태도는 한국스럽지 않다. 그것도 남성이 아닌 여성이. (그의 표현을 빌려서) 그 개저씨들을 겨냥한 기자회견은 내 뇌세포를 자극해 도파민을 쏟아지게 했다. 난 기분 좋으면 물에 뛰어들고 싶어 하는 리트리버처럼 발을 동동 구르며 안절부절못하는데 이거 나만 그래? 친구에게 카톡이 왔다. 기자회견 봤어?

야 이게 힙합 아니냐.

내 답장이었다.

신촌 원조 할미 보쌈은 정말 신촌이 원조가 맞는지 의정부 부대찌개는 의정부에서만 해야 오지리널 아니냐는 식에 질문을 할 수 있을 것이다. 힙합이 뭐고 뭐가 힙합인데 나는 민희진을 보고 힙합이라 했을까. 민희진은 흑인이 아니고 흑인 남성도 아니고 흑인 남성에 갱스터도 아니고 마약을 파는 흑인 남성 갱스터도 아니고 마약을 파는 흑인 남성 갱스터의 삼촌 흑인 갱스터가 현금수송차량을 털다 걸려 교도소에 가 있지도 않는 한국 여성인데 말이다.

기자회견 이후 쏟아진 민희진 관련 뉴스는 지켜볼 필요가 있고 가치가 있다. 그가 퍼프 대디처럼 범죄를 저지르고 다니는 건 아니잖아. 영화 <벌새>에 김영지 선생님이 있었다면 뉴진스에게는 민희진이 있다. 민희진을 경험한 아이들은 어떻게 자랄 것 같아? 난 이게 너무 기대돼.
