There are sick, twisted people in this world who take advantage of vulnerable people, and the blame should never ever be placed on the vulnerable subject. You were a KID. You should have been enjoying your youth and being protected and taken care of, and I’m SO SORRY you had to experience anything less than what you deserved. It makes me physically ill to know that he did that to you, and that it was even done before him. You didn’t deserve any of that and it’s not your fault.

Memories like those ones are hard to keep repressed because they’ll pop back up and random times and just ruin your week without any sort of notice. That’s why it’s really important to have a good support system in your life and to be able to know how you best cope with those episodes so that you can function. Do you have any family members you can confide in? Or any friends? Best yet, are you seeing a therapist? If you’re not already, I would really suggest one so that you can develop a healthy relationship being able to talk about it and forming a plan moving forward. My therapist used to outline little homework assignments for me each week that really helped me.

It can be really hard to have access to mental health resources or even to confide in people in your everyday life. But I hope you know that I’m always here for you if I can be any pillar of support in your life, in any form.
