#''almighty sinnoh'' thing
Text
anyway so the idea i posted about having last night was
due to Side Effects from falling through the rift, ingo is like. a little bit stuck in the hall of origin. which is mostly a passive effect but it does mean that he visits it in dreams constantly, but also
he's so cosmically insignificant that arcues doesn't notice or care that he's there
so he just gets to spy on god indefinitely.
giratina's shenanigans translate in that plane to the hall of origin breaking and mending continually
which also allows brief views into other times/places. so this in effect translates to very confusing-to-interpret prophetic dreams.
anyway that's basically it that's the elevator pitch

Ingo laying in bed wide awake, having 3AM thoughts about the clan wars he was never witness to and this Almighty Sinnoh that was the cause of the conflict. Maybe it's just because he's not from here, or maybe the amnesia fucked his brain, but he can barely wrap his head around such a thing. He just doesn't understand how someone could take such drastic measures and consider that something worth hurting other people for!
And then Emmet rolls over in his sleep, blindly squirms around until he feels where Ingo is, and wriggles up to him so his head is on Ingo's chest and Ingo decides that maybe he could understand it a little, actually.
Anyway Ingo offhandedly mentions this revelation to Irida, just trying to meet in the middle since it's something they never agreed on you know, and she calls him a blasphemous whore about it because DO NOT COMPARE ALMIGHTY PALKIA TO YOUR BROTHERFUCKING, WARDEN INGO JZMSKSNHXKSJJS

so i have two (2) submas poems for you on this fine day. they are both in the exact same vein but the first works with the interpretation that ingo is truth and emmet is ideals and the other is vice versa. enjoy :)
---
They are black.
And white.
And yin, and yang, and fire, and electricity.
Alone they are all color,
Or the lack of it.
Together, they are all and none,
Everything and nothing.
Grey, mixed together by the gods.
Mixed together by the legends.
Mixed together by the princes.
Mixed together by the boys themselves.
Grey, mixed.
They should have never been black and white again.
They never thought they could be.
They thought the gods the legends the princes their very own small learning fire-red and electric-yellow hands would hold it, hold it firm and steady and tight til the day their bones rotted in the earth.
They are black.
And white.
And god,
They are not grey.
The god,
What have you done?
What has your kin wrought?
Wrought law breaking undefinable, a curse neverending.
They are black.
And white.
And yin and yang and one and the other and they are alone.
There should have been no such thing as alone for the two of them.
One without the other is a terror they never thought they would face.
A dancer without their feet.
One without the other is a singer without their voice.
A piano without its bench.
A musician with no instrument.
A conductor with no train.
A trainer, with no Pokemon to care for.
Things that are easy to lose, things they never thought could compare to them, and yet and yet and yet.
Worthless, useless, missing missing missing.
The singer is without their voice.
The dancer is without their feet.
The bird is without its nest.
The musician is without their instrument.
The fire is without its electricity, staticky and bright. The electricity is without its fire, solid and warm. The grey has been impossibly, irrevocably, intrinsically torn, torn at the seams by a vengeful god, a vengeful world, one that wishes to defy all law. They are without their voice and their feet and their piano and their bench and their backyard tree and their lantern and bird and they are torn terrified
Frozen.
They are frozen.
Rotting slowly in the frigid cold of their separation, frostbitten and decomposing, burning and broken and alive.
Tears fall and turn to ice.
One dragon.
Two, and a hollow shell.
Grey, and the wretched mechanisms used to cleave it apart again.
Grey, and the horrible day it faded away.
Grey, and the horrible day one became everything. Everything they'd known, everything they'd remembered, every ideal they'd held.
Grey, and the horrible day one became nothing. Nothing of what he'd ever known, remembering nothing, knowing only the truth of this empty world around him.
The hollow third rests in the air. In their minds, on heavy shoulders, in ice grey eyes.
It is rotting them from the inside out.
Ice. Ice fire cannot melt, ice electricity cannot break.
The ice that rests betwixt their ribs. The ice that burns behind their eyes.
Omnipresent. Ever reminding of the other of themselves of the other. Ever wailing of the grey and its horrid misplacement, in the crevice of time, in the crevice of space, and truth and ideals and the chaos god, the Almighty himself.
The Almighty himself, who made them grey. The Almighty himself, who made them everything and nothing yet again. The Almighty himself, the bastard, the betrayer, the summoner of ice, forever and always and now and then.
Almighty Sinnoh, what have you done?
Arceus, what have you wrought?
Grey, never again.
They are black.
And white.
That is forever their binding fate.
---
the god has torn them apart.
the god,
and his devil,
and his right hand men.
grey, wrenched impossibly into two.
grey, forced apart again into black and white.
grey, forced apart into ideals without truth,
forced apart into truth without ideals.
the fire rages without its static.
the electricity fizzles out without its flame.
the man in white mourns a brother lost.
the man in black wonders what is gone.
two princes once tore grey apart,
extracted black from white and white from black,
fought over one half and another,
and a hollow shell followed.
that was right.
that was natural.
that was a result of an argument ill made.
that was the consequences of ideals and truth, at war.
ideals and truth were one.
ideals and truth were a mirror.
ideals and truth were in harmony.
the twins were grey, a perfect shade.
but the god said no.
why?
why must you pilfer perfection?
why must you take it,
from our warm hands and our bright eyes and our grey, grey hearts?
they beat as one,
in time,
a dancer and their step,
a bird and their song,
a piano and their bench,
a time made and a beat kept.
but the god said no.
forsaken.
forbidden.
forgiven, for it was not his fault.
for the living, as they are.
the man in white mourns a brother lost.
the man in black wonders what is gone.
and the electricity fizzles out,
whispering into the night.
and the flame burns all around it,
crying out at the sky.
sinnoh.
arceus.
god.
what is the meaning of self-inflicted blasphemy?

Legends Arceus is such a good game if you try to play it from a character's POV. I personally do it with most pokemon games because it's just a thing I've done since I was like seven I think BUT it just adds FLAVOR. Blorboify your experience.
Like. OK. Say you play as Akari but HC her as Dawn being isekai'd, partial memory wipe maybe if that's your jam. Does she choose Oshawott because it reminds her of Piplup at home, wherever home may be? Does she hear about Almighty Sinnoh and vaguely recall something about adventures with friends, something so close that she just can't quite grasp onto? Does she feel this... unease around Cyllene, even though she knows Cyllene has done nothing but be helpful and stand up for her so far?
Currently in my playthrough, Playing as Drew and having this immense adverse gut reaction to Melli? Frowning at Akari, knowing she seems familiar from... somewhere, assuming Drew and Dawn have crossed paths coordinating. Or him seeing Irida's red headbandy thing and short bobbed hair, and feeling this jolt of familiarity that he feels like he should know like the back of his hand? Picking wildflowers in Cobalt Coastlands, trying to grasp onto fleeting memories of flowers and conversations on far-off beaches?
A funnier option: Playing as Ash, being surrounded by people you vaguely swear you know one way or another but having to deal with the fact that to them you're just some guy that fell out of the sky?
Possibly the funniest: Playing as Iris/Cilan/whoever in Unova and seeing Ingo like HEY WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE

Just found your Super Train AU and rotating it around in my head like a microwave.XD
Thinking about the Subway Clan's relationship with the other clans in Hisui. Like maybe since Lady Sneasler took a liking to to Ingo, the Pearl Clan was a bit miffed since she's one of their Nobles, but they accept her decisions and see this as a sign from Almighty that this new clan should be accepted. Maybe even more readily than the Galaxy Team, since no Noble chose any of their number. Maybe depending on how long the Subway crew was there, there was feeling of dread within both of the clans that either Lord Kleavor or Lord Braviary would also pick Wardens from the new clan.
Anyway, I can still see Irida and Ingo still having at least a friendly if professional relationship. Like when it became clear Sneasler chose Ingo, she took it upon herself to give him the Warden band and flute, explaining the whole deal about Wardens and Nobles to him and stressing how this was an incredibly sacred duty to care for one of the descendants of the ten Noble pokemon that helped the Ancient Hero and were blessed by Almighty Sinnoh itself.
No pressure.XD
I really like the thought that before anyone even came around to inform Ingo about the whole "Noble Pokémon" and "Almighty Sinnoh" thing, he was just sorta hanging with Sneasler and making baby noises at her kits. Naming all of them and giving them different colored scarves to differentiate them. Kissing their lil heads. Letting them run wild in his personal train car that he's living in. Their itty bitty claws like to scratch at the seats because the whole train is made to withstand battles, so it's just a scratching post that never wears out. They're living in luxury!
Then Irida comes along and is like This Is A Sacred Figure To Our Clan. And Ingo's internally like "oh shit I've been making kissy faces and squishing the face of this Sacred Clan Figure. They CAN NOT ever know about this, I'm taking this to my GRAVE."
Ingo's face is completely blank but internally he's an anxious wreck as Irida explains the duty of a Warden etc. Meanwhile Irida is just thinking "this looks like a confident man who knows what he's doing, I can see how he became the leader of his clan."
Ingo Does Not know what he is doing.
I think Ingo endears himself to Irida pretty quickly because despite not smiling all too much, he's a very kindhearted and polite man, and he's the type to express his admiration out loud whenever possible. Irida actually gains a lot of confidence in her leadership skills whenever she and Ingo talk. She'll mention tough decisions she's had to make and Ingo's just like, my, you're doing such a fine job leading your people! Don't be so hard on yourself, you've accomplished all your tasks and led everyone to a stable and safe destination—
Yeah Irida likes this dude. He talks a lot and he's loud, but he's just so nice and respectful that you can't find him annoying or anything. Plus, he takes his work very seriously and is probably one of the best Wardens she's ever seen. Not to mention he's got a group of people helping him protect the highlands and take care of the Noble— that actually leads Irida to wondering if it's a good idea to assign smaller groups to the Wardens to help make their jobs less dangerous and more efficient. Something to think about.

Intentions - Volo x reader
Tumblr media
“heyyyy i loved ur last fic!! do you think you’d be willing to write another? i thought this sounded like a fun idea: a volo x reader fic where the reader is just as secretly unhinged and resentful as him and have the same goal. they think they’re manipulating each other into what they want, but then they realize that they’re both after the same thing and escalate their friendship into something more? 🤭 thanksss <3” - anon
i FINALLY got this one finished!!! it only took me a month and a half :')
i hope you enjoy! <3 (also thank youuuuuu!!!!! <333)
y/n - your name 2k+ words (2,076) friends ⟶ lovers
Plates.
Plates are what you’re after.
You’ve been searching and searching, seeking them out to meet with a higher being: Arceus. You’ve devoted so much of your time and efforts into studying the Almighty Sinnoh. Laying low is so hard to do. But, despite how much you want to express your true feelings toward this land you call ‘home’, it’s better you didn’t.
You’ve been watching Volo and the new recruit from afar; watching them both gather the plates you’ve been longing to find. You sigh in frustration.
They were supposed to be yours.
Once you return to the village, you run into Volo. It seems he’s stocking up on wares to ‘sell’. You already knew he had the lowest numbers in the Ginkgo Guild. It’s not that hard to overhear, especially where you like to sit on Kamado’s balcony to do your work.
“Seems like someone’s heading back out.”
He turns to you with a rather shocked expression. “Y/n! You startled me.” Quickly gathering himself, he calms down and and smiles. “How did you know I’m heading back out?”
“Well,” you begin, tilting your head. “firstly, you’re stocking up on more wares. Perhaps to sell, or… to use for yourself.”
You see his cheeks flush slightly. “How do yo—”
“Second, your trousers are already splattered with fresh mud, most likely from the Mirelands. Nowhere else has dirt so… red.” You pause. “What were you going to say? I’m sorry for interrupting.”
He purses his lips. You can tell he’s trying to read you. “Nothing… we’ll pretend it didn’t come up.”
“Mhmm…”
Silence takes over. It’s not like either of you to stay this way for very long, as you both like to carry on lengthy conversations on the interesting facts of the region. Volo finishes stocking his bag and throws it back on, grunting as the weight of it almost pulls him to the ground. “Well, I’m off to… sell.”
“Before you go—”
His eyes widen, eager to hear what you have to say. Any information to him is important, and you know that oh so well.
“Would you mind telling me why you were the one chosen to help the new Survey Corps recruit over me?”
He’s taken aback by your question, almost offended that you had asked. “You know how well versed I am in these studies, y/n. You wouldn’t understa—”
“I wouldn’t understand?” Your eyes grow angry. “Do you know how long I’ve been studying each and every ruin and artifact I’ve found in the Hisui region? How much time and effort I’ve put in to piecing together this stupid binder for Cyllene, just so I can spend more time out in the open air? I wouldn’t understand?”
“I didn’t mean to—”
“What I don’t understand is why they let an outsider take the lead on this one.”
You’ve offended him.
Oh, how you’ve offended him.
“Excuse me?!” he shouts.
You glare at him, lowering your voice. “You heard me, Volo.”
—————
It’s been a few weeks since your argument. Volo’s been trying to apologize since the day after is happened, but you don’t want to hear it.
“Y/n, please! Do you think I want to help Akari on my own?”
“Who?”
“The new recruit…”
You shrug.  “I never bothered to learn her name.”
Volo lets out a hearty laugh. You’ve never seen him so genuine; so true, even in your past conversations. “That was good.” he responds. “I wish I could say the same.”
You both joke around for a while. It’s nice to have a friend back on your side.
“Hey…” You break the silence, a more serious tone taking over. “What if I… help you? You know, with finding plates?”
A coy smile spreads across Volo’s face. “I love that idea.”
—————
“For safe keeping. You both travel quite a bit, and I would hate for either of you to lose them.”
Weeks have passed. You’d convinced Volo and ‘whatever their name is’ to let you keep the plates in your possession. Volo was a bit apprehensive at first, but the girl seemed to trust you. “I think it’s a good idea, Volo. Y/n does have a point: we do travel a lot.”
“Fine.”
More days pass. You have all but one. You cannot believe how easy it was to just… take them. You smile as you sit on the bank side of Lake verity, taking in the fresh air around you. You feel a hand touch your shoulder. Startled, you look up to see Volo.
“What are you doing here, y/n?” He sits down next to you, setting his bag to the side.
You shrug. “I needed some air, and Lake Verity is so pretty this time of year.”
He nodded in agreement. “And the plates? Are they safe?”
“Of course! Do you think I’d let them out of my sight?”
He smiles, looking to the water glistening in the sunlight. “Good.”
You sigh. “Hey, this may sound strange, but…” You take a deep breath. “Do you ever feel that… the girl is… getting in the way.”
His eyes light up, and even though he’s not looking at you, you can tell he’s interested in what you have to say.
“I mean, she wouldn’t even know where to look if it weren’t for you. And, if I’m being honest, you know more about these plates than she does.”
“She’s gotta get home somehow.”
You shrug. “All I’m saying is that you deserve this more than her. We deserve this more than her.”
You watch as Volo’s lips curl into this small, almost unnoticeable smile. “You know,” he says, looking out at the water, “I was wondering when you’d come around.” He turns to you, the smile on his face growing bigger. “I mean, it was only a matter of time.”
“I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at.” you reply. “I was only trying to ma— wait… you’re not doing this for the sake of helping are you?”
He laughs.
Oh how he laughs.
It’s a beautiful sound; a melody. Tears start to roll down his cheeks from the laughter. “Oh, y/n!” he chokes out. “I never have been!”
You start to giggle.
“I was only trying to get you on my side.” he continues. “I figured it would be—”
“Volo,” You interrupt. “Why do you think I asked to keep the plates?”
He stares at you, unsure of what to say. His eyes are wide, and he seems surprised that you, you, would be trying to sabotage not only the girl, but the entire Survey Corp? “Y/n…” His voice is soft; hushed. “I never thought that you—”
“That I’d want to turn my back on the people of Jubilife? Because I’m not.”
He’s silent.
“I’ve always had this intention. It just took me years of acquiring the knowledge and the connections to feel comfortable enough to go for it…” You pause, watching a Magikarp leap out of the water. “Besides… the girl makes it easier.”
Volo gently slides his hand over yours. You don’t think anything of it.
You’re friends.
“Meet me in the Highlands tonight.” he says. “There’s something I need to say.”
—————
The Coronet Highlands were so pretty at night. You lay on your back in the patch of flowers at Fabled Spring, looking at the billions of stars just above you in the sky. Volo arrives not too long after you, setting his bag against one of the trees. For once, he’s not in his uniform, wearing a dark green kimono and matching trousers. “I thought I’d dress little casual this evening.” He sits down next to you, pulling something out of his pocket to hand to you. “I thought you may like this.”
You sit up and carefully take what he’s holding. “A comet shard!” you squeak. “How did you—”
“I found it in the Mirelands; the day you caught me with mud-stained pants.” He bit his lip, looking to the ground. “The day of our little spat.”
You’re silent.
“I’d been wanting to give it to you for so long, and…” He looks at you, eyes filled with starlight. “I just didn’t know how.”
“Volo, I…” You exhale. “Thank you.”
He shakes his head. “No need to thank me, y/n.”
You both lay there for a while, listening to the nature around you. It’s so peaceful; serene, the fireflies lighting up the spring.
“I wish every night were like this.”
Volo squeezes your hand a little tighter. You watch as his lips curl into the smallest, yet sweetest smile. It makes your heart flutter.
Had you always felt these things?
“Feeling content with sharing the experience of a serene, summer night.” he continues. “It’s easy with you.”
“I agree.” you reply in an almost whisper. “It’s… it’s nice.”
You can feel his eyes on you, even when you’re focused on the stars above. “So what did you want to talk about?” you ask, trying to break whatever tension you were both feeling.
“Never mind that.”
You look to him once more. “Volo, I—”
“I just want to share this moment with you.”
He rolls over on his side to face you, his hand caressing your cheek. “Do you know just how pretty you are?”
Your abdomen feels like it’s going to explode. You can’t help but to blush as Volo says these things to you. You hope he doesn’t notice, but…
“Do you like it when I say these things?” He scoots closer, his chest barely touching your arm. “Hmm?”
You look at him, and it’s hard to keep yourself contained.
“I did, actually, want to talk with you about something tonight.” he whispers. “If you’ll allow me to.”
You nod. He takes a deep breath, his hand still placed on your cheek. “Y/n, I— if we’re to use the plates for ourselves, and forge this new world, would you… would you mind if we did it together?” He gulps. “Because I don’t want to do this without you.”
“Volo…”
He pulls you in close.
So, so close.
“I can’t do this without you, y/n.”
You wrap your arms around him tightly, tangling your limbs together in the patch of flowers you lie on. Volo nuzzles his face into your neck. His breath is warm against your skin, his fingers tracing the seams of your Survey Corps uniform. You feel your breath hitch. Volo feels it too, looking up at you when he does. “Are you alright?”
You nod quickly. Maybe too quickly.
“Y/n, promise you’re not lying to me.”
“I promise.” you breathe.
His fingers continue to trace your uniform, every seam; every outline; every wrinkle in the fabric. “Y/n?”
“Hmm?” You watch as his fingers slowly trace their way up to your neckline.
“You do know I meant it when I said you were pretty, right?” His tone has completely shifted. He smirks lightly as he looks at you, lust in his eyes. “Because you are.” Untangling himself from your grasp, he sits up, pulling you up with him. “My pretty y/n.”
You were feeling those things again.
And he knows it.
He leans in as close as he can, noses almost touching. “Promise you won’t leave me behind.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it.”
He grabs your waist tightly and presses his lips to yours, pulling you into his lap as he does. He’s so passionate, yet so soft; his lips warm against yours in the cool, summer night. He pulls away to look at you, his eyes meeting your gaze as your lips part. You both smile at one another, and Volo is quick to kiss you once more.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for so long.” he says, holding your hands in his.
“Then why didn't you?”
“Because I needed to know where your intentions were.”
You giggle softly at his remark. “Obviously, I made the right choice.”
“That you did.” He pushes a stand of hair out of your face. “Not completely off topic, but how many plates do we have so far?”
“Seventeen.” you respond. “Why?”
He starts to get up, you sliding off his lap into the flowers. Volo extends his hand to you to help you up, not letting go once you’re standing. He looks to the mountain just up above, and a mischievous grin quickly forms on his face. He turns back to you, squeezing your hand tightly.
“Let’s go.”

Week 2 of @shepscapades Hermit design event! I went with the video game swap 'cos I thought it'd be fun. I wanted to do something Pokemon related but just giving a Hermit a new outfit and a couple pokeballs felt too easy. Then I remembered I'd been playing Legends Arceus again a few weeks ago and came up with this instead!
So! Here we have Etho and Bdubs as members of Hisui's Diamond and Pearl clans! This was super fun and I had a great time drawing them in these outfits!
But now if you've played Legends Arceus you're probably thinking. 'Hey Violet, a major point of that game is that the two clans don't like each other, why are they holding hands?' Well my friend, let me explain (under the read more, I wrote a lot whoops)!
Whilst out exploring Etho is attacked and knocked unconcious by wild pokemon. He's found and brought to safety by Bdubs, who patches him up the best he can. When he wakes up Etho is a little alarmed that he was found by someone from the Diamond Clan, but Bdubs is friendly and not trying to hurt him further. They are a little uneasy around each other at first, but slowly start to relax whilst Etho recovers from his injuries.
The attack damaged Etho's left eye and Bdubs wasn't able to save it, leaving him mostly blind in one eye now, but Etho is nothing if not adaptable. Once he's well enough he thanks Bdubs and makes his way home, neither of them expect to see each other again.
It doesn't last though. They cross paths again a few times whilst out and about and gradually they become friends. They get along well, Etho likes to study pokemon (from afar, preferably) and talks to Bdubs about the things he's seen. Whilst Bdubs teaches him what herbs and plants can be used for medicine in any given area. Slowly that friendship becomes a little more... Forbidden love between two rival clans. They can't tell anyone and have to keep their meet-ups secret, but it's fine! They can manage!
The one thing they don't agree on is almighty Sinnoh but perhaps that's to be expected. Etho will occasionally bring up the subject though, simply because listening to Bdubs rant about how almighty Sinnoh is absolutely a god of time, Etho, not space!, is incredibly entertaining, even if he is wrong.

Yay little mer snippet! Just a little thing as a break from Donut Hole. Probably won't post on ao3 (Edit I did lol)
Lost and Found
They didn’t see the storm coming.
Both clans knew the skies and the weather almost as much as they knew their watery home. They should've seen this storm coming days in advance.
But they didn't.
All they could do was hunker down in their settlements and pray to Almighty Sinnoh that their loved ones out at sea would return home safe.
Even deep inside their iceberg, Irida wanted nothing more than to curl up inside her den, like she did when she was a pup and a bad storm would roll over.
But as leader, she wanted to make sure her clan was safe first.
Thank Sinnoh, most of them were doing what she wanted to do; tucked away safe inside the many ice caves and dens they had made, little ones hiding under blankets and their relatives.
Lady Sneasler and Lord Ursaluna had plopped themselves down in the medical den with Calaba. Lord Kleavor and Avalugg would be safe under the waves, and Lord Arcanine…
Well, he didn't have to suffer this storm. It was a relief, in a strange, painful way.
Lady Sneasler yawned as Irida entered, without a care in the world. Lord Ursaluna barely even acknowledged her presence.
“Did everyone return to the settlement?” Irida asked.
Calaba let out a quiet, but still irritated, huff. “Palina has yet to return. Gaeric went out to retrieve her just as the storm hit.”
Of course. Since the passing of Lord Arcanine, Palina had been grieving away from others. She wanted solitude, as dangerous as that was, and Irida could respect it on some level.
But not in this weather.
And Irida truly respected Gaeric as her mentor and practically her brother, but he still struggled with empathy at the best of times.
“Right. Right. I'll go after them.” Irida decided, rubbing her cheeks and smoothing her whiskers, trying to not stress too much.
Palina and Gaeric were very, very good swimmers. She was positively certain she'd find them just outside the iceberg.
“Please be safe.” Calaba said as Lady Irida left.
Dipping into the frigid waters (for some, not that Irida was complaining), Irida was immediately hit with the turbulent, stormy sea.
With smaller storms, it was easy to hide under the waves. But with large storms like this? The currents would be thrown off kilter, the sediment on the sea floor would be dragged up, it was difficult for even the strongest of swimmers to keep their head on straight.
But Irida pressed on, weaving through the ice floats the best she could. Even through the dark waters she could see the flashes of lightning, hear the boom of thunder.
This couldn't be a natural storm. This had to be from Almighty Sinnoh themself. Perhaps something had angered them. It was bound to be the false worship of the Diamond Clan.
(Little did she know, Lord Adaman was having the exact same thought.)
Just at the edge of the icy waters, where the glaciers were nothing more than floating bits of snow on the surface of the water, she found them.
“There you two are! This storm is too bad to be out!” Irida said as she rushed forward to greet them, unable to stop the worried tone in her voice.
“Blame her.” Replied Gaeric in a low rumble, narrowing his eyes at Palina.
“Oh? Oh? Blame me? Blame me for making sure Lord Arcanine’s only son and heir is safe in this storm? Yes! Yes, let's blame me!”
Irida loved these two like family. Siblings. Close as could be.
She would also love it if they could stop bickering for just one night.
“You two can fight about this later, inside the settlement.” she said, swimming behind to try and urge them forward. Irida had her fill of stormy weather for one night, thank you.
The three of them had barely started their trek home, when Palina spotted something lying at the bottom of the ocean. Thank Sinnoh that the waters were relatively shallow here, otherwise she never would've spotted it.
It was…a black and white….lump.
“Wait…What…is that?” Palina asked quietly, finding herself slowly drifting down to investigate.
Gaeric turned, sounding confused. “What? No, we should go back. This storm is dangerous.”
As Irida began following her down, he grumbled under his breath, but reluctantly began to follow as well.
The three approached the mysterious object on the sea floor, and they all quickly realized that the black and white lump was big. Very big.
“What…is it?” Asked Irida, glancing at Gaeric for guidance.
But he slowly shook his head. “I'm not…sure. Don't get too close. We don't know if this is a threat-”
His eyes narrowed as they approached, and for a brief moment, terror flashed across his face. Grabbing the two girls, he pulled them down to a rocky outcove to hide. “Orca, that is an Orca, stay down-” he hissed.
Palina did not do that, immediately slipping away to peek over the rocks. “Really? Just laying on the ground like that? That doesn’t seem very…Orca-Like.”
“You have the self preservation of a sea cucumber.” he growled. “I’ve seen Orcas, you haven’t. Get back down here!”
She crept a bit closer, sticking close to the rocks in case she needed to duck back down. “No…the shape is wrong. And I can see…fabric?”
Irida now poked her head above the rocks, much to Gaeric’s dismay. “...I think she’s right. I’m going in closer.”
“You two are going to die, and at your funeral I will tell everyone how stupid you were.”
Palina and Irida inched closer and closer, still remaining cautious as they approached. More details came into focus. There was a torso, head, arms, hands-
It was a merman, wearing strange striped garments, curled up and completely unconscious. The only signs of life came from the subtle twitch of his fingers.
“It’s not an Orca!” Palina said over her shoulder, “I-I think it's a merman? With Orca colors?”
That finally got Gaeric to take a look, swiftly coming over to join them, brows furrowed in thought. “I…don’t recognize him. He’s not one of us.”
“He’s not part of the Diamond Clan, either. He doesn’t have their colors or insignia…” added Irida with a frown. “Would he have come from a migratory pod?”
Gaeric shook his head. “There’s been no reports of pods like that. We haven’t had traveling pods of Orcas like him in years.” He crossed his arms over his chest. “...he could be an exile.”
The very word caused Irida to recoil and Palina to wince.
Exile was the worst punishment possible. Practically a death sentence, forcing a mer from their group to live on their own, to grow sick and weak and mad from the isolation. It was worse than a death sentence, only for the most heinous of crimes. Neither of the three there had ever seen it before, from their clan nor from the Diamond clan. A punishment spoken only in terrified whispers.
Palina shook her head. “No, no. You can’t just assume the worst like that. M-Maybe the storm swept him away from his pod? Maybe he got lost?”
She turned to Irida directly. “We can’t just leave him here. He’ll drown. He’ll die. I can’t handle another death on my conscious like this.”
“Irida, I have to object.” counted Gaeric, leaning over to try and block Irida’s view of Palina. “I cannot allow you to bring this stranger to our settlement. He could be a threat! He could be a murderer. What if he tries to eat the pups-”
“Gaeric!” Palina shouted, tugging on his hair and earning a pained yelp.”Stop assuming he’s an exile!”
“I didn’t say he was! But if he’s been alone for Sinnoh knows how long? Merfolk go crazy when they’re alone!”
Irida hummed in thought, glancing between the two and the unconscious merman.
Palina was right, if they didn’t do anything, the merman would die. He’d drown, and in a matter of time the crabs and eels would descend upon the corpse until there was nothing left.
Gaeric was right, they didn’t know this merman, they didn’t know how dangerous he was. This merman was big, too, much bigger than anyone at the settlement, he could overpower them if he wanted. He could be a danger.
The merman shifted slightly, and began making a low, rumbling croon. His face, even while unconscious, looked pained.
He was calling for someone. Something. Anything.
And as the three waited with hesitation, nothing came.
“We’re taking him back.” Irida said with an air of finality. “Gaeric, help us carry him.”
“What?! I’m opposed to this! I’m the one who said we shouldn’t take him in, and you want me to carry him?! He’s probably heavy!”
“Oh, what?” Palina said, smug from having won, “Those muscles you’re so proud of are just for show, huh?”
He growled at her, a rumble low in his throat, but agreed. “Fine. Let’s carry this stranger back home.”

Genre: filthy filthy smut

。・゚・。+☆+。・゚・。+☆+。・゚・。+☆+。・゚・。+☆+。・゚・。+☆+。・゚・。+☆+。・゚・。+☆+。・゚・。
You walked up the mountain and toward the temple of Sinnoh carrying a basket of berries in your hand.
A few months ago you met Arceus when you were lost in the forest.
Does that make any logical sense?
Absolutely not, but so does many things in this world. Also, the fact that after seeing the almighty god instead of running away, or idk try to catch him you choose to stay and have an in-depth discussion with him about why humanity kinda sucks, probably isn’t normal either.
But doesn’t matter after some offering and lack of self-preservation skills, you like to think of yourself as a friend of god. After all, he seems to be quite fond of you as well.
As you reached the top of the temple, you played the azure flute to summon him. After a few moments, a crack appeared in the air, as Arceus walked out greeting you with a nod.
“Hello, my child. How have you been?”
You hold the basket in front of you to show it to him before saying,
“I'm doing great! I brought you some berries I grew!”
Arceus let out a small laugh as he lowered his head towards you,
“I’m glad, and thank you for your offering. There's no need to do that for me.”
You put the berry basket on the ground, before gently holding Arceus's head in your arm and placing a kiss on his head.
Who would have known god was touch-starved? At least you certainly didn’t until you noticed how Arceus seemed to lean into your touch.
His whole body shuddered involuntarily and his eyes flashed red momentarily, as he felt you place a kiss on his head.
Noticing his strange reaction to your kiss, you ask worriedly,
“Are you okay, my lord?” he had never had such a strong reaction to your touch before,
Arceus looked at you a blush on his face as he unconsciously leaned into you more,
“Y-yes, your touch was merely a little…unexpected…”
You looked into his eyes which seemed to be flashing between red and green, before backing away slightly.
“I’m sorry, are you sure you’re okay, my lord? Your eyes are…different”
Arceus seeing you back away looked up almost frantically,
“Don’t… don’t apologize… don’t leave… come closer, my dear…”
Hesitantly you nodded before hugging Arceus's head in your arm.
“Is this better?”
Arceus groaned into your hug seemingly fighting an internal battle with himself. Struggling he pulled himself out of your arm before backing away, despite his heart telling him to never let go of you and demand/beg for more kisses.
“L-leave child, before-before I do something I regret and hurt you” Arceus panted out seemingly losing the battle,
You being a stubborn person, refused.
“I'm not leaving, my lord you’re not acting normally, is there anything I can do?”
Hearing your word Arceus's eyes went fully red, losing to the desire inside him. Tremblingly he walked toward you pushing his head in your arms again.
“I-I need to feel your touch, my dear. Your soft lip and your warm embrace. Pl-please, child. For the love of the god that you worship, please kiss me. I need you, (y/n)”
Hesitantly you hugged back. Placing several small kisses on his head as Arceus continued to tremble in your arm.
“I-i will do something unforgivable, my sweet child, I am not worthy of your praise or your love…” Arceus cried out as tears began to form in his eyes,
You kiss away his tears trying to comfort him as you get increasingly worried.
“Hey, it’s okay. Nothing you do can be unforgivable, please don’t cry.”
With a shudder Arceus pulled you into his chest(?) with his foreleg, don’t ask me how I don’t know the most powerful being in the universe having lost all control of himself because of you.
“My dear…my love…you are my angel. Please don’t forsake me, I need you. I need your touch, your kiss, and your everything. Please give me your heart and your soul. Let me be your god, let me be your love. Love me as much as I love you, my dear angel…”
Your eyes widen at his words, before giggling and standing on your tip-toe to place a kiss on his face (?) I don’t think he has a mouth? Trust me I have tried googling
“Then as you wish, my lord.”
You had no idea what you just agreed to…
Arceus pushed his leg in between your leg, grinding it against your clit. Gently poking it and pushing you down onto the ground.
You let out a loud whine as you felt the force pushing down at your sensitive fold. Your eyes teary and your face flushed as you let out a little moan. The pleasure was unlike anything you have felt before. You can feel your panties getting soaked as he grinds against your cunt with his foreleg. The cold metal on his leg grows warmer from your body heat.
Seeing your reaction Arceus let out a satisfied purr, glad that he can bring you this pleasure.
As you get closer to your release you can’t help but beg,
“F-faster…haaa… please, m-my lord… s-so close…”
Arceus was happy to comply, and within minutes you were brought to your first climax.
As your fluid splattered onto his foreleg, Arceus's eyes began to fill with an animalistic need and lust.
You panted on the ground, your eyes dazed and your mind blank from the high. Arceus ripped off your clothing and flipped you around to push you down on all fours.
I had to do some math and googling but yeah, someone's gonna be in a world of pain. And no I’m not proud of my search history right now
“W-wait, pause! Backtrack, backtrack!” you yelled hoarsely as you tried to back away once you saw his cock that's beginning to harden, it look about 2 feet long and it's getting bigger,
Arceus dragged you back forcefully, any emotion other than lust disappeared completely in his eyes, transforming him into a completely different Pokemon. One that is controlled by his animalistic desire.
“I will destroy you, my angel.”
Arceus said with a sinister tone, as he held you onto the ground.
You let out a scream as he begins to push inside you, your body shaking violently as it is forced to accommodate something it’s not supposed to take in.
With a snarl, he pushed your face into the ground as he forced himself into you, inch by painful inch.
“I-i will die! Please, f-fuck! Haaa…” you cried out your mind blank from the pain,
Hearing your cry of pain seems to bring back some clarity to his mind. Lowering his head and placing what will be the equivalent of a kiss on your back, Arceus begins to use his power to transform your body so it will be easier to accommodate his size. Or at least enough so that you don’t die in the process.
“You won't die, my angel. You belong to me and only me.”
With another growl he slammed his cock into your tiny body, shoving another half a foot of it into you. You let out a wail as your stomach bulges out, the head of his member can be seen through your stomach.
With each thrust, his member seems to grow larger inside you. You can no longer tell how much your body has taken in. Your mind is daze with pain and pleasure, as your body is pushed to the limit and then some more.
Every time you thought you had reached your limit and will surely die if he shoved more of his cock into your body, your body will stretch to accommodate it, because of his power.
You shake your head begging him to stop,
“N-no more! Full, so full!”
Ignoring your cry Arceus continues to thrust inside you roughly.
“You will be mine, angel. Just me and no one else!”
He was almost entirely inside you, was it 5 or 6 feet by this point? You honestly don’t know. Your visions are blurry and you can’t feel your legs anymore, how will you ever recover from this?
The pain and pleasure were overwhelming, every thrust seemed to bring you to another climax as well as another round of pain.
After who knows how long Arceus's thrust got sloppier and rougher as he began to reach his release. By this point, you couldn’t fight back or cry, your mind long past broken. You let out a silent scream and tears fell from your eyes. Arceus let out a roar before shooting his cum inside you, painting your wall white and filling you to the brim.
Your stomach is bloated and you whimper as you felt yourself being filled. After a while Arceus's cock soften and he finally pulled out with a pop, as an ocean of creamy white liquid came rushing out of you.
The red in Arceus's eyes faded and his eyes returned to his usual forest green. As Arceus returns to normal, he looks down at your battered and abused body with horror, finally realizing what he had done to you.
Shakily Arceus cradles your trembling body inside his arms.
“What have I done… my love… my sweet angel… please tell me you're alright…” Arceus pleaded as he began to use his power to heal you up,
After a few minutes, you finally gain back some of your consciousness and with a pained groan you look up at him.
“Y-you just shoved something that's basically bigger than me if you are taller than 6ft just ignore that, also please donate some of your height to me inside of me, I will say I’m a little broken…”
Arceus lowered his head to nuzzle your body to try and comfort you.
“I'm sorry, I’m so sorry… please forgive me, my love… I didn’t mean to hurt you…”
You wrap your arm around his head as you ask with a hoarse voice,
“At least you remember to change my body so I don’t die in the process… what came over you? That wasn’t normal…”
Arceus froze before hesitating and answering quietly,
“There's… there's a part of me… a different part of me that's more ruthless, more aggressive, and less caring… I try to repress it, but I can't and I lost control of you… I’m sorry, I will never let it happen again…”
You nodded your head before leaning on his head,
“That's good to know, I’m not sure how much more time can I take off this…”
You let out a yawn as your eyes get droopy, your body tired from the event that happened prior.
Arceus nodded and sensing your tiredness he wrapped himself around you protectively,
“Sleep, my dear angel. You have been through enough…”
With a nod, you slowly drifted off to sleep in the arms of god…

One person liked the au comment so here it is:
Concept: people from the rift aren't uncommon. Jubilife and the clans frequently find them and bring them in. In fact, they even fall with all their memories in tact. They know who they are, how they came to be where they went, and where they came from. They know what they were dropped in Hisui to do. The problem is that after some time, some sooner and some later, their memories begin to fade. They remember who they are but they start to think they've always lived in Hisui. They came across with the rest of the jubilife residents, or they were accepted into the clan when they were young and grew up with them. All their memories of where they came warp to suit were they are now. Ingo is one of very few that still knows he is not where he needs to be due to Emmet- he knows there is someone that looks like him that is supposed to be with him, but he is not here. He keeps a hold of his coat and hat because they help remind him to remember something.
Rolling around in my head that, for some reason, Akari is the last to fall. They get a few people a month - one time twenty different people fell at the same time, as if Almighty Sinnoh was desperate that maybe many people would succeed where one couldn't - but their memories were the fastest to flee. They managed to get a lot done, but within the month they could barely recall where they came from.
Akari falls from the rift and after she does the color changes. She's there for a month- memories in tact, no new fallers. Two months- memories in tact, no new fallers. Everyone takes a breath, thinks maybe this is it. Maybe she's The One.
And the memory loss isn't something most people in jubilife bring up. It's depressing, because these people had homes and families and now they are lost in time and memory. Rei fumbles a couple times, mentions "before, when (name) was still helping" or "before (name) forgot." and Akari asks them about the things Rei mentioned but they don't remember. And that's weird but she doesn't think anything of it at first.
Except then things start getting fuzzy. It's after she takes care of Electrode, after she's met and befriended Ingo, after everyone thought she was in the clear. She starts forgetting things. Where she was going. Who she was supposed to meet. More than once Volo has found her and returned her to a campsite, because despite him wanting desperately to meet and defeat Arceus, to be noticed by the god, there is something uncanny and uncomfortable and frightening about people he knew and genuinely cared for forgetting themselves.
Akari struggles to hold on to her memory, lasting longer than the others, but it does fade. It falls to pieces. She stops leaving the village, helping care for the pokemon in the pastures. She doesn't understand why Rei and Laventon, who have always welcomed her so warmly and been so friendly since she first arrived and apprenticed with Marie, are suddenly so sad to see her. Why they don't discuss their research with her like they used to.
And Ingo arrives one day and Akari thinks he looks like a nice person, she may have to go and chat with him. Sure the frown is a little severe but something tells her he'd be comforting...
Except then he walks over to her, greets her, and asks why she hasn't been by for so long. And she's confused, because sure she has her Typhlosion (that she can't remember training) and a lot of the pokemon in the pasture are very affectionate towards her, but she's never been out of Jubilife village. It's scary out there! Wild pokemon are dangerous! (Even though her partner could easily one-shot many of them...)
And it's Ingo who realizes something is incredibly wrong. Because he remembers Akari, how excited she was to learn more about pokemon, how she loved getting rides from Sneasler and Wyrdeer over the highlands, how she delighted in making Melli feel bad for bullying her.
And Ingo realizes she's not the first to stop showing up in the highlands, he just wasn't as attached to anyone else. There are faces he recognizes in the village, faces of people who - at one point - were filling the Pokedex, were exploring the territory, were helping the nobles. Akari was not the first, he just wasn't close enough to any of the others to take notice that their disappearance from the Highlands wasn't retirement or injury, it was something worse.
And he excuses himself, heads back home, and stares at himself in the mirror, because something is off. Something has always been off but now he knows. now there is proof. And he tries to think about who he might be, why he knows something he is pretty certain he shouldn't. And decides the best vourse of action, to figure out what's going on, is to stop sitting around as a warden. He's going to calm the last noble. He's going to figure this out so whatever has happened will stop and people can go back home.

it's actually kinda funny how the balance of nobles getting frenzied is already a little pearl clan heavy just by virtue of there being an uneven number, but then they also have a ride noble get pseudo-frenzied and rather than it being a diamond clan noble to even things out, it's ursaluna, who's also pearl. that's 4/5 pearl nobles who get some version of frenzied compared to only 2/5 for diamond. almighty sinnoh really said fuck these guys specifically. also a real "sneasler wins by doing nothing" sort of situation here

Strange Passenger
Phione Akari AU
Ingo goes looking for Akari in the coastlands after she's declared missing. A strange Pokémon accompanies him, one Ingo doesn't yet notice is awfully similar to Akari herself.
A short drabble I wrote trying to figure this AU out a little; it's just practice, as I would like to write this as its own fic at some point.
OR read on AO3!
Enjoy!
————
“Akari!”
A flock of lazing starly quickly turned their heads to watch a man in tattered black rush underneath the branches of their shady tree, heading for the coast off in the distance.
“Akari!”
The feathered Pokemon cocked their heads. So that’s who had been calling out all over the coastlands all morning. Several of the starly fluttered off to find a more quiet tree up on the cliffside, but the few who stayed watched the man as he continued down the path.
Something small and blue was clinging to his coat, they noticed.
Ingo reached the top of a hill and paused for a moment, both to catch his breath, and to check that the tiny passenger nestled inside his coat’s lapels had not come uncoupled from him.
Small enough to fit in his hands, Ingo had never seen a Pokemon as… watery as this one before. Vocal either - its squeaking was incessant. Ingo would have liked to have moved the noisy Pokemon a bit further away from his ear if it would let him, but every time he tried, it would climb right back up against his neck, and squeak at him again.
It sounded almost like it was frustrated at this point - frustrated at him - but whenever he would try to set it down somewhere and be on his way, it would jump and latch onto any part of him that it could.
It was not hungry - he had tried to offer it a berry more than once. It was not thirsty - at least he didn’t think so; it would sit in water, but he’d never seen it drink. It was not trying to lead him anywhere either - he had questioned if it was trying to find a lost family perhaps, but it never indicated it wanted him to follow it.
No, this small Pokemon simply seemed like it wanted to squeak at him, cling to him, and take up all of his attention, 24/7.
It was rather perplexing behavior, and it had been doing this since it had first found him at the training grounds the day before, strangely enough. He had never seen such a Pokemon around Jubilife. Maybe Akari would have known what kind of Pokemon it was, or what it wanted… but it was rather unfortunate timing, seeing as Akari herself hadn’t returned to Jubilife since the day before either.
“Akari!” Ingo called out between tired breaths for what felt like the hundredth time that day, glancing at the wild coastlands around him.
Up in the sky, around the cliffs jutting out against the coast, Ingo could make out the forms of Gliscor and Magnezone, still searching diligently for the teenager. He was sure the rest of his Pokemon were searching elsewhere in the area, amongst the trees, bushes, grass, and caves.
Search parties had been immediately sent out into the fieldlands, with plans to radiate out from there. But Ingo felt that was the wrong place to start looking.
He had told her to wait until he finished his shift at the training grounds - going to the coastlands alone for a mission was one thing, but to go out into the ocean? When he was still teaching her how to swim? Ingo hadn’t wanted her to go out there without him. But she did. And now, he could only pray to Almighty Sinnoh that she hadn’t-
“Phii!” The tiny Pokemon squeaked into Ingo’s ear again, shaking him from his thoughts rather harshly.
“I apologize, passenger!” Ingo reached up to grasp it in his hands, in an attempt to save his hearing. “I cannot understand what you want, but I must ask that you refrain from vocalizing so much; I am in the middle of conducting an important search, and it’s imperative that I be able to listen for any calls from Miss Akari-”
The words appeared to go right through the Pokemon, staring back at him with an exasperated look on its face. That was, until Akari’s name was mentioned. Suddenly, the blue Pokemon started squeaking twice as loud, flipper arms flapping uselessly like it was trying to get out of his grasp.
“Yes, yes,” Ingo sighed. “That’s exactly what I’d like you to stop doing, please.”
It did not stop; instead, it kept wiggling in his grip, until it actually slipped out from his fingers. Ingo had to quickly reach down and catch it before it hit the ground.
“Passenger, you must follow safety regulations if you are to remain with me!” Ingo tried to explain over the creature’s squeaking. “I must keep on schedule, this is an extremely important matter! And if you cannot abide by the rules, then regrettably, I can not permit you to continue traveling with-“
“Phii! Phiii!” It interrupted, appearing to gesture at itself with its flippers.
This clingy, noisy Pokemon was not going to make things easier for him-
A squawk off to the side caused the Pokemon to suddenly clamp up entirely, falling quiet as it snapped its head towards the sound. The sudden terror the Pokemon exhibited caused Ingo himself to look over.
Within the heavily-leaved branches of a tree, obscured under the dark shade, Ingo could make out the bright, hungry eyes of a murkrow fixed on him.
Well, more specifically, the small Pokemon he held in his hands.
Ingo’s gaze flitted back down at it. Clearly, it was nervous. Had it experienced a previous run-in with murkrow before?
He could not leave it here.
The small Pokemon squeaked again, much more subdued, as Ingo immediately closed his hands back around it in a gesture of protection, tucking it back into its safe spot within his coat’s lapels. He could feel its cold flippers grasp at the side of his neck immediately.
“Do not worry, passenger,” Ingo reassured it, taking one last glance at the murkrow, before turning back to face the coast; he needed to get moving again. He was almost there. “I will not permit it to reach you. You will not uncouple from me.”

in addition to the self aware au, I cannot imagine just how screwed kamado is after banishing your character. not only has he pissed off akari/rei, but he pissed off the all powerful force thats stronger than sinnoh almighty itself; the player. i can imagine the player going absolutely ballistic on him while insulting him for everything he stands for while he's just doing whatever. he originally thinks he's just going mad or that the effects of the rift and lightning are making the pokemon speak like its no biggie, but stuff just goes completely south when the others confront him and are like "hey so uhh the giant voice from above is really mad at us for not sticking up for the skyfaller but they are REALLY mad at you for ordering the banishment. Why Did You Do That." and kamado just breaks down and is now searching for akari/rei (and the player seeing as they are really attached to the lil skyfaller) in attempts to make up for it and appease "the true almighty" as a result. "oh yes sorry for banishing you after all your work!!! here you can go back to jubilife if you want!! we can also get you your own noble pokemom and all the fancy things you adore please just dont destroy my life's work and kill us all!!!!" and while the idea of going rampant and destroying everyone sounds tempting, seeing kamado grovel like a wurmple for mercy is much better so no destruction for today
Jdkdjkdkdk
I’m just imagining you’re hangin out doing something like shiny hunting, and Kamado is dragged almost kicking and screaming by Cyllene, so he’ll apologize, and mean it.
She’ll be damned if Kamado keeps you pissed and destroys the town.
And he falls to his knees and bows, apologizing, begging you to please not destroy his town.
Meanwhile neither you or the hero had planned on doing that, though you both certainly joked about it.
Maybe you accept, maybe you don’t, but you promise not to destroy the town so long as he behaves and sets a better example for his people.
All while you both are later laughing at him after him and Cyllene leave. You even took screenshots on your switch just for that.

A Father's Resolve - Ch 9
Ingo returns after a decade - with two extra cars in tow. Years later, his kids are swallowed up by time in the same way he was. Will he be able to find them? Will they be able to make it out alive?
Word Count: ~3000
The twins wound their way through the Heartwood to hopefully find this Warden that they'd been told about. Their teams were trained up decently and they were having a grand time trying to write about Buneary.
“Lookit her!” Akari squealed. “She's so cute!” She ruffled the soft down of the little rabbit she'd caught. It flicked its ear at her in annoyance. Rei did have to admit it was adorable, even if it had a horrible attitude.
“I got that Silcoon we saw. I'd say let's see what this Warden wants and how to study Kleavor.” Rei tossed a ball in the air and caught it idly as his sister caught up to him on the dirt path, shaking the water from her shoes. She'd fallen in the stream trying to scramble back from a suddenly-livid Psyduck.
“Fine.”
Rei rounded the corner, seeing some man-made structures come up in his field of vision. A gateway appeared down the path, with some stone bowls carved from a large boulder in the middle of the arch. And in front of this stood a boy wearing soft pink and a hat that Rei could only describe as a cowboy hat. He was maybe ten with red curly hair and a stern expression on his young face, still trimmed with baby fat.
Rei stared at the hat. He'd seen it before-
“That's Clay's hat,” Akari whispered to him in Unovan. “Remember fighting his Excadrill? That's totally it. Look at the gem.” She was right. The same green jewel set in the hat, square and sparkling, surrounded by gold trim on white leather.
“Didn't… didn't Clay say his family was from another region? That they immigrated to Unova?” Rei murmured back.
Akari simply nodded.
This was getting weird. First their mother, now Clay's… grandfather? Great-grandfather? More generations? And he was younger than them!
“I'm Lian, Warden of the Lord of the Woods, Kleavor. You're here to see the mighty Kleavor, ain't ya?” the boy called to them in greeting. Even his voice sounded like a younger version of Clay's! The boy crossed his arms, a smug look on his face. “I can see it on ya. You heard about his awesome power and now he's only become even more powerfully awesome.” He smirked into the crook of his elbow as the twins stepped up to him, finally. “That bolt of lightning charged him… maybe it was almighty Sinnoh's doing? Either way, as much as it pains me, I must turn you away.”
“But we need to!” Akari blurted out. Lian's eyes flicked to her. He grinned slyly.
“I must commend your passion, but unfortunately it is not safe. I have been given order by Irida to not let anyone see him right now. So back out now, lest you face the wrath of my Goomy.”
“I accept,” Akari said before Rei could even think.
“Akari-”
“Back up.” She shoved him back and cleared a small space for a battle. Lian sighed and whistled. A small pokemon appeared from behind the stone bowls, a purple blob of a creature. Rei hadn't actually seen a Goomy before but he decided he needed to find one because this thing was perfect. A dopey smile graced what could be called its ‘face’  it had two small eyes and a big grin and it slowly trailed along and Rei needed to get a Goomy right now.
“Goomy, let's try to ooze some sense into these interlopers!” Goomy gave a cry of challenge and oozed its way to the battlefield.
Akari picked a ball carefully and tossed it out. Riptide, newly evolved, gave a small cry of its own. It stanced itself up, preparing for a long battle…
That did not last long.
Riptide did not take very long to tear through the small Goomy. It was clear that although the boy cared deeply for his partner, it was not very well-trained. He sagged a bit as he conceded defeat. “I still can’t let you through,” he sighed. “It is too dangerous. No one can get through to my Lord- Irida?”
The twins turned to see the girl behind them, watching with wide, sad blue eyes. “Lord Kleavor is descended from a pokemon blessed by almighty Sinnoh itself. I did not want to have to throw up our hands and ask for help from an outsider but… every moment that he remains like this, the danger grows. If he hurts more people and pokemon, it may cause problems with the Diamond Clan and the Galaxy Team.” She paused, knitting her brows. “I hear that it was that bolt of strange lightning that changed him. Perhaps it was sent by that faulty god the Diamond Clan worships…?” Rei had to restrain himself from pointing out how stupid that sounded. “Regardless, do you both have any ideas how to help him? We care greatly for Kleavor; he means a great deal to our Clan. We do not want him to be hurt.”
Rei glanced at his sister, who shrugged. It was obvious that they may be on their own with this one. It was hard to say what was wrong with him what they hadn’t even seen him yet. “We’ll figure something out,” was all Rei said.
“Excellent!” Irida cut between the two and approached Lian, who still stood proud, even if Rei could now see the cracks in his small facade. He was just a boy with a big job he couldn’t handle by himself - and it tore him up on the inside. Rei could see how his eyes darted around, how they desperately scanned Irida’s face for some semblance of good news. How his small hands shook. “Lian and I will gather some of Kleavor’s favorite foods in an attempt to get close enough to make a proper offering. As for you, try to find a way to quell his frenzy, even if you must traverse every corner of Hisui!”
The twins took that as a dismissal and nodded, turning and striding away. Once out of earshot, Rei asked Akari in Unovan, “What are we even supposed to do? I still don’t know what all this is about.”
Akari debated as they snuck around the alpha Bibarel, staying quiet until they had passed by safely and were heading up Deertrack Heights. “Let’s ask Laventon. He’s a scientist, right? Maybe he’d have a clue.”
—----------------------
Emmet shivered as he pulled his coat a little tighter around him. Why was the office so cold? He glanced up over the pile of paperwork he had in front of him, checking the face of the clock on the wall. The little train-shaped hand had a smokestack that pointed to the number five. It was already almost 6:30? Emmet leaned back in his chair, sighing to himself as his back popped. How long had it been since he’d moved? Four hours? His gaze traveled the room as he sat motionless in the cold.
The walls had several framed photos and posters. The posters were mainly older Gear Station signs and advertisements for past events they had done, like a battle bracket one year for challengers or a holiday or New Year’s event. Emmet’s favorite was the spooky one, personally. Ingo always liked the spring decorations, the small flowers and the pastel colors. The twins had been split on the battle bracket and, for Rei, the scavenger hunt to collect every sticker hidden away on the platforms. The prize for finding them all was an authentic conductor’s hat, though he’d never cared for that. He had plenty.
There were several photos dotting the area around the two desks, as well. Photos of himself and his team, Ingo and his teams (from Hisui and Unova, as he hadn’t had the chance to release his Hisui team before returning), the twins as they grew up, both with and without their starters, Elesa with all four of them, even a family reunion photo with Drayden and Iris and their extended family on his side. Emmet’s favorite had to be the one he kept on his desk, from when the twins were younger. Ingo’s kids were maybe eight years old, staring intently into the water under Tubeline Bridge, watching for any sort of movement. That is, until Iris had sent her Lapras into the water to prank them, having it pop its head out and making the two scramble back onto the bank with a strangled yelp, landing in a very undignified way on the muddy land on their bottoms. The photo had been taken just as the twins were yelling, Lapras’s face in a soft smile as it ‘greeted’ them. Iris was already in stitches, doubled over in laughter. Even Drayden had chuckled, his eyes shut in merriment, leaving Emmet to laugh openly. Only Ingo hadn’t truly laughed, though his eyes had twinkled as he held it in and made sure they were alright. Other than some bruised pride, they had been perfectly fine.
He looked at the goofy photo. Emmet had pulled out his camera as soon as he’d seen Iris sneakily send her pokemon into the water someway upstream. It had been taken just downstream, so he could get everyone’s faces from afar. The kids’ eyes were wide as they leapt back - the photo still had them in mid-air, their arms blurry from reeling backwards. Emmet felt that familiar grin creeping up his face as he studied the photo. It always made him smile. Lapras had offered itself to being petted as an apology afterwards, and had even ferried the kids around on its shell for a bit on the water.
Emmet sighed. He put the photo back and stood up, stretching. A deep sense of melancholy settled itself into his ribcage, sitting more heavy than a stone. His face drooped. It was much harder to make memories like that when the person - or rather, people, in this case - were missing.
He checked his phone. A message from Drayden checking in, that he hadn’t heard anything yet about the missing kids, but he’d keep searching, he would always keep searching. Iris hadn’t heard anything, either.
Keep up your hopes, Emmet. They aren’t gone for good. You told me that the first time we went through this, and I know you know it now.
Emmet typed a response as he grabbed his stuff, his day bag now slung over his shoulder. He made sure to unceremoniously dump a bit of the paperwork on Ingo’s desk and to shove some of the more urgent items into his bag. You are correct. I know that. But I am not the one who needs convincing.
A moment passed as Emmet grabbed his personal items and opened the door to the office. He shut off the lights as he did, making sure not to waste needless power. He made his way down the hallway, checking again for a message. To his surprise, there was one. Drayden usually did not answer this quickly. I’m sure. Perhaps me and Iris can stop by sometime. Try to break him out of the horrid spell I’m sure he’s still under. It’s been how long now? This was about the time you became despondent.
He entered the control room. Two or three Agents milled about, checking in on the monitors and speaking in low tones. They looked up as Emmet entered and waved to him. “Everything steady?” Emmet asked them.
“Sure is, Boss. Just passengers and us left for the night shift. Only engine Orange being ran for the overnight shift. All others are already in the warehouse being assessed and cleaned.” The olive-skinned woman pulled up a camera feed, making it larger on the biggest screen in the center. It showed several large engines being serviced by night crew.
“Perfect.” Emmet put a cup in the coffee maker by the door and pressed what flavor he wanted. Mostly black, just a bit of cream. “Need anything else from me? I know I disappeared today. Lots of paperwork to catch up on.”
“I don’t think so, Boss.” A pale man with glasses swiveled in his chair to face him. “Have a good night. We’ll see ya back here tomorrow morning. Wish Boss Ingo our best.” The other Depot Agents nodded solemnly. Though it had never been formally announced that the kids were missing, they all certainly knew. It was taboo to talk about it in the station, but the Agents were always sure to leave kind regards and if Ingo didn’t come in for a few days, it was never mentioned.
“You as well. All aboard,” Emmet responded, more out of habit than anything. He snagged his cup and placed a lid on top as he snuck out of the station. He checked his phone again, typing out a response to his uncle. If you want to see him acting more like a stale piece of bread than a human, consider yourself invited. It’s hard to get him to do anything these days. I’ve been holding down the Station more often than not. Even if he does go in, he just stares at the wall. I’ve never seen him so invested in a book in my entire life than the history books he reads.
He waved to the Agent by the door as he swung open the glass doors to the station and swept out into the warm night. Emmet sighed in contentment as he clutched his coffee. The sky was that ethereal orange seen across Unova. Light pollution had its large claws sunk deep into the region, and unfortunately, no night was truly the inky black he remembered on his trip to Alola with Ingo all those years ago. Street lights threw that ugly yellow undertone to everything that they always did. Quite a few people were out tonight, though Emmet supposed that was normal for seven at night on a Thursday in the summer. He wondered if there were any events, musical or battle-oriented or otherwise, that were going on soon in Nimbasa. There was almost always something. He passed under the one that flickered as he walked, checking his device yet again. A certain someone else I can think of was much the same. We will come by this weekend. Don’t worry about making the house too clean, we’ve definitely seen worse. Emmet could almost hear his uncle’s soft chuckle that accompanied it. Is there anything we should bring as well? Food, pokemon treats, anything of that sort?
I don’t think so, Emmet typed, walking under another street light. He could see the bus stop in the distance. A few others were already at the stop, waiting for the next bus to arrive. He stood just outside the covered bench, leaning on a lamp post as he typed. I need to do some grocery shopping soon, so let me know if you want anything specific to snack on. It’s mostly just me doing things in the house these days. The Joltik aren’t as rowdy, either. The next clutch hasn’t hatched just yet and most of last year’s have already relocated to Chargestone and the tunnels.
This will be your eighteenth clutch, correct?
Emmet glanced up as he thought about when he had first started officially breeding them. It would have been toward the tail end of Ingo’s absence. Elesa had convinced him that he needed some hobby other than going to work all the time, and she had remembered him talking about getting into breeding when he was younger, so she had bought him a book about the basics of pokemon breeding. That must have been during the eighth year of Ingo’s disappearance, and if he’s having one clutch a year and its been about ten years since he reappeared-
“Subway Boss Emmet?” Emmet blinked himself from his thoughts and glanced around. The person who had spoken was an older woman sitting on the bench. No one else around paid them any mind, some with earbuds in, some engrossed in something on their Xtrans.
“Hm?” Emmet hummed to the woman, alerting her that he’d heard what she’d said. He let his hand with the phone screen fall somewhat, turning his attention to her.
The woman had very light hair, almost white, long and very wispy, held up in a dark hat. She also had a dark dress. It almost looked like she was dressed for a funeral. She smiled up at him, the wrinkles around her eyes deepening in the glow of the orange street lamp above them. “I heard about what happened recently. Things will become right again for you.”
He blinked. Honestly, this left him at a loss for words. “I- uh. T-Thank you? Thank you.” He regained his composure. “It will take some time, but I know the tracks will be rideable once more.”
She chuckled as she looked up. Emmet could see the bus in the distance. “It will indeed. My great-great niece would love you. She is very into history, you see, much like my nephew was… oh, what a strong-willed man, he was. Is! That never left him.”
As she rambled, Emmet’s mind was reeling. Who was this woman? He didn’t think she’d ever seen him before. The fact that she recognized him by sight alone was nothing odd, he was something of a local celebrity, especially in uniform. He was about to ask what she meant when she glanced around again and shook her head. “It seems my stop is coming. I wish you could meet my lovely niece. She would want to talk to you for days about Hisui and the heroes-”
“You know about Hisui?” Emmet asked incredulously. He needed to know more. He needed-
“Good luck, Emmet. Keep your brother strong. The children are looking for him.” The bus’s headlights engulfed his vision for a moment, making him blink. As soon as he opened his eyes to ask her what she meant, the bench was empty. Emmet whirled around, looking for the old woman, but she was nowhere to be seen. The door to the bus opened with a mechanical hiss. Other passengers began to climb aboard. Emmet gave one last glance around as he climbed aboard next, shivering under his coat, trying to shake the feeling of being watched.

I love the Frozen Time AU!
Would the people of Hisui come to believe Akari isn't Akari, but a Zoroark disguised as her? Because at one point, they can't excuse her not aging anymore, and what better explanation than their beloved scout got murked in the wilds, and a Zorua now passes themself of as her for food and shelter
In this AU I like to think that Adaman and Irida are actually experiencing some delayed aging as well, people of the whole. Connection to the Almighty Sinnohs, and being right there at the rift when shit went down. So I think people are a lot less likely to assume Akari and/or Ingo got replaced by a Zoroark or Zorua.
But, for Adaman and Irida, they don't stop aging altogether. They just age more slowly. I imagine they'll live long past 100 and do a remarkable job whilst leading their respective clans.
But Akari and Ingo are different in that they're not aging at all. And at some point, I think the two are going to get a bit antsy about sticking around. I like to think in this AU, Akari and Ingo at one point decide to start traveling the other regions. (Probably fake their deaths a couple times in other regions, too. They gotta be WAY more cautious about the whole "not aging" thing in places other than Hisui.)

"I apologize for boring you so much with all my battling talk last time, Miss Arezu."
"Oh, you really didn't," the hairdressing warden replied as she carefully snipped at the longer strands of whitish hair. "Lady Lilligant trains all the time anyways! And it was a fine change of pace from all the repeating gossip. You wouldn't believe how quickly news can spread, I had all my info exhausted by mid-morning..."
Ingo had a little trouble believing her, but the relief made him not want to contradict her.
"In any case," he proposed, "Might I tell you a joke today, instead?"
"Oh, sure thing!"
"Very well then! Picture, if you will, that you're at home, and someone suddenly knocks at your door."
"Alright."
"Knock knock!"
"Oh!" Arezu yipped - she hadn't understood she was to be a participant in the joke. "Oh, uhm... Hello? Who's there?"
"Ya."
She tilted her head, her puzzled gaze meeting his own in the mirror: "... Ya who?"
"YA-HOO!!" Ingo bellowed.
Arezu jumped, utterly spooked. Then she doubled over herself and began to laugh, laugh, laugh! At one point she had to leave his chair and curl up on her heels, still shaking with giggles.
The older warden leaned a little closer to her from his seat: "It's a very silly joke," he said, almost apologetically.
"It is!" she replied with absolute delight. Finally she steeled herself and dried the tears of laughter that were prickling from her eyes. "Oh Almighty Sinnoh... I've got to do this to Adaman, it's exactly the sort of thing that makes him irrationally angry."
"It would be absolutely hilarious, then."
"Exactly!"
She stood back up, still chuckling a little, and tried to go back to her work. Soon enough though, unable to hold herself back, she gazed once more in the mirror to meet Ingo's eyes with a smile so wide it hurt her cheeks.
"Ya who?" she asked again
"YA-HOO!!" he repeated the punchline, even louder than before, and she held onto his shoulders and doubled over laughing a second time.
