location: around the grounds of the tournaments as some of the challenges have begun
@lucius-rivers
the hustle and bustle of the tournament had already begun. hundred of people were flocking to come watch the various events being played out. axell was still young but already a great swordsmen, and had signed up to compete. there were some here he could beat but others would be a challenge. but he had time to think on that as he was not needed until the next day. for now he was able to wander with some of the other vale lords around the grounds.
as the group of lords chatted away, axell found himself looking out at the crowd as he sat down. one person caught his attention, a young lady walking with a group. hair bright as fire, face just as beautiful. she looked to be about his age. honestly he probably stared too long to even notice the other man with her starting to get more and more angry. not that he cared. he was a man himself now, he had the rune to prove it. he'd be happy to challenge anyone who bothered him. he was practically begging for it.

flashback location: a loud and bustling tavern near the residences where the parties of the reach are staying, late evening
the crowd within the tavern was full of life. everyone talking, drinking and listening to the music of a bard in the corner. seemed like everyone was in the mood for a celebration given everything happening around them. it felt nice being around people like him, harlon thought. moving through the crowd, he held four tankards in his hands. two for him and two for cedric, he had no idea where the rest of the crew had run off to.
"cheers" he laughed, holding up one of the tankards taking a sip. luckily even within the crowded tavern, they had managed to find a table towards the back allowing them some privacy. after a moment harlon took another sip as he looked over at ced. "i saw him today you know. he's with all the other fucking lords. pretended like he didn't even see me, the dickhead." there was no need to explain who harlon meant, he knew cedric would understand that he meant lord tarly. the words didn't seem to be spoken

headcanon that stan hates wearing glasses (for many reasons) and went without them for years until he really needed them
[Image Description: Comic of a younger Stanley Pines from "Gravity Falls." Alt text is provided and copied below the cut. End ID]
A younger Stan squints at his blurry reflection in the mirror, leaning in really close to see himself clearly. He sighs and grabs a pair of Ford's glasses on the dresser. Putting them on, he stares at his reflection. "Welp," he says, "this is unsettling."
He turns away from the mirror to adjust his tie, saying, "But it can't be helped." His reflection is now a disheveled Ford, mirroring Stan.

as an aroace person with limited sexual experience, no interest in watching porn, and poor sex ed as a teen, there IS something simultaneously funny and vaguely tragic about being 28 adult years old and realising how extremely tiny your frame of reference is for genitalia and deciding you should expand this to better understand bodies (yours and others). and then you're just there like "okay so what the fuck do I even google right now, anyway"

"The mistakes you've made."
A little fast paced but this is my depiction of Ford's perspective after burning Stan!!

Still in awe of how well the D&D movie mimicked the feeling of D&D without doing anything as tediously literal as a "sitting around the table" framing device. The way some characters have names that sound like names a DM improvised on the spot, the sudden appearance and disappearance of a overpowered DM NPC for a single dungeon, the way they used the fact that characters can plausibly just mess up for no clear reason to escalate action scenes...that was cinema

location: the mountains of the vale, set before the news of domeric bolton (stone) was reveled
@wcrdsarewind
how quickly time had moved this year. how long ago he was hidden away from all of these people in these mountains. he had watched caravans of people he used to see at court ride by him as he stalked from the mountain side. fearing one day he might see the flags of runestone cresting over the ridge. thankfully that time never came. and when he got to see his brother again it was under his terms.
but it was nice to be up in the mountains doing what he did best. hunting down the clansmen. and surprisingly enough he was glad to have domeric accompany him. growing up the man was close by. seemed like his father enjoyed having his company around. and honestly there were many times that axell enjoyed his presence more than his own brother. there seemed to be a mutual understanding between the two of them. unspoken and maybe unknown at the time of all that they shared. all that they thought about.
“bit different than hunting those wildlings down in the north isn’t it? at least here you are freezing to death while trying to get the job done.” he said looking back towards where the northman was standing. not that the man had been much of a talker this trip at all. “fucking hells dom you have been quite as fuck this whole trip. thought you’d enjoy getting to go on a little hunting trip instead of having to mingle with the vale lords or chatting with your new fiance up north” he said. “don’t make he regret inviting you bolton.” he laughed.

location: at the tournament grounds, on the first days before the events begin
@garlandhightower
"thank you love." harlon said giving the lady one last kiss as he finished doing up his pants. the younger serving woman was in a rush to do up her dress before anyone decided to wander into the empty tent. "i will come find you tomorrow if you are free then. and uh…fix your hair." harlon told her, scooping up his bag of art supplies before hurrying out the back of the tent. he finished smoothing out the rest of his clothing before walking back to the main part of the event.
hurrying through the people he found his friend waiting not to far off. "sorry about being late, got a little caught up in something. hope i haven't missed anything too important." he smiled. "so what did you sign up for one of these tournaments or what? i'm sure your family will be happy to see you win."
