MY TAKE ON THE CANON PJO/HOO SHIPS:

Percabeth

Okay so, I’ma be real. I was kinda disappointed when they got together. I thought we were gonna have “Not Every Boy/Girl relationship is Romantic” representation. But as I read more of their relationship after that, I learned to love their relationship, because its not ALL romantic. They still have that same close friendship they did before they got together and I love that. Their 5 book build up was absolutely awesome tho tbh. Love a slowburn. They are genuinely cute, silly and fun. They are the old married couple at camp teaching the campers cool stuff together. They really compliment each other. Something so personal and perfect about their relationship is that they are both different kinda of smart. Percy is street smart and Annabeth is academically smart. Also, they are both strategic in their own ways and are strong af. The fact that they are basically each other and healing the other while healing themself is precious to me. They are both insecure and feeling lonely in a demigod world, but they found and completed each other.

Yeah, no. Super forced, and not stable. Piper is loving someone who she doesn’t even know, hence her having false memories of him. Jason doesn’t even know her and instantly fell in love. Personally, I’m not a believer in love at first sight. You have to get to know the person to truly love them for all they are. Piper is insecure and a girlboss and this relationship is keeping her alive in HoO, because she is so angry at the world. She’s living off Jason practically and thats not healthy for either of them. Jason is progressively learning about her, but it’s so middle school relationship stuff. Its really shallow love and Piper needs more than that as a child of Aphrodite. Jason needs that too because that’s just how he is but they’re relationship is built of the stress and desperation of war. So yeah. Sorry if this isn’t accurate, I haven’t read HoO in a bit and I’m not good with characters lol.

They’re cute tbh. Age gap is a little scary, but I read something proving that they’re closer in age if you look closely. Anyways, I really like these two. They were crushing on each other before war and were really the only ones there for each other before Percy came to save the day for the Fifth Cohort. They literally had a normal crush on each other, like Percabeth but they didn’t do anything super dangerous together that brought them closer I’m guessing. Their quest with Percy brought out parts of Hazel and Frank that they needed to learn about in order to pursue a healthy relationship. They learned of each other’s pasts. On the Argo II, Frank being jealous of Leo is so cute honestly. Hazel comforting him for it too is awesome and its a cool dynamic. They are just a cool, calm, awesome power couple. They are super powerful and it was so cool to see them discover themselves together and loving each other for it. And interracial representation?? Hello?? Awesome rep, I think. Their cultural differences didn’t stop them and that’s so good for them.

Caleo

No. Just, hell no. It’s a relationship sculpted of desperation. Calypso being nice to him all of a sudden on the beach was uncalled for. Enemies to lovers can NEVER be rushed. They were super rushed. Both of them are desperate too. Calypso was desperate to get off her island and Leo was desperate for a partner after seeing everyone else have one. That is not healthy ‼️‼️ Also, Calypso is mean to Leo?!?! Calypso is bossy and kinda sorta rude to him. Like, hello??!? Leo is a little blinded by the desperation of love to realize this. If they really wanna make it work, get couples counseling from Percabeth, they are by far the healthiest couple. Caleo was def something Rick pulled outta his ass.

Solangelo

Solangelo is my biggest ship, I love them, but I do have some opinions fs. First of all, they are beautiful in theory. I love thinking of what they could’ve been. Yeah the canon’s cool, but Rick doesn’t know how to write gay characters. So most their content is different from the straight couple until TSATS. TSATS was much better writing. Rick had helped from a queer author so they acted like any other couple once again. Second, I love their simplicity. Like, they saw each other in war, thought the other was cute and was like “oh what the the heck?” and eventually got together after the war showing it was not desperation but real. Honestly, I think it started out as a crush then some shallow dating, but after being through the Tower of Nero and that whole thing, it started to get more real. In TSATS, we see them get a deeper connection. They’re whole little shallow crush thing is getting deeper and that dynamic is awesome. Also, they complement each other, and they’re dynamics are awesome. But I really love that they teach each other things. Like Will teaching Nico to embrace his light but to not forget his darkness. Nico teaching Will to embrace his darkness but not to forget his light. They are learning to be healthy and how to do this relationship stuff. I could go on forever about them and not be done so I’ll stop here.

Okay but "girl maxy having toto and susie as mentors just plls her getting fussed over and appreciated as she deserves!!" and she is going through her first break-up while fighting for the championship? Like imagine girl Maxy, being in the high and low of her fights with Lewis and she is so stressed about it, because not only she is having to prove herself to her father, she also have to prove that she can win, no matter if she's a woman.

And Susie is so supportive of her, but then Silverstone happens and Maxy is freaking afraid of Toto's reaction. And right after that there's Monza and then she got dumped by her boyfriend (you can choose who it is). And she really needs the comfort right now. Susie cannot be always there even if she wants to, and so Max has Only Toto to look to.

But she is skittish af about it, and it's not help with the things Toto says about Red Bull, Christian and Max. In the end tho they do find a moment to talk about it, because Lewis can see how Max is hurting and can see how Toto is in the verge of breaking too, with all that is going on.

Max is his girl okay and he wants to be there for her but also he is so conflicted because of his loyalty to Lewis. Lewis is having none of their BS and lock them in his driver room to sort it out.

Plss! Maxy alwsys having Susie and Toto as mentor through her career cos Jos surely wasn't going to bother helping a girl make it to F1! They mean so much to her but it's tense too, with Max being in red bull. It was a smart move from susie, getting Max in red bull because she needs to prove herself and won't ever if she drives the team her mentor runs...

But Max struggling cos Susie is away doing FE managing and Toto was quite rude about red bull and Max in media and she thinks Toto hates her now! And all she wants is one of his best hugs and for him to say she is going to be okay (absolutely melting when he calls her his little girl) but she thinks she ruined it and is so distraught!

And Toto is distraught too cos he hates red bull and Max is annoying on track for him as boss, but that's his girl too! And Lewis can see they both struggle and just tells them to get their shit together, pushes them in a room and tells them to talk about it and pls Max just flinging herself in Toto's arms after realising Toto is as upset as she is!

(After the season, Toto takes her out for dinner to celebrate her championship and Max is just beaming because this is the closest to a nice dad she ever had!)

I'm gonna say this and I know people aren't going to agree and that's okay

But I really don't like Mikasa's character. I think she had the potential to be really cool af, but the execution fell flat. I know she's written a little bit better in the Manga (still need to finish it) but here's why I don't like her and how I think it could have been changed.

I understand why she's so attached to Eren, but it's almost obsessive, and the way she treats him feels patronizing. She wants to look out for him because she loves him, but it's in a selfish way.

Examples: as a kid injuring him and then asking him if he still wants to join the Scouts, FORCING him to eat, carrying him away from fights, telling him to stop talking (tho indirectly) when talking about his more negative feelings (shown in s1 and s3).

My biggest pet peeve is the scene where he figures out the ODM gear and Mikasa is like "he's happy he doesn't have to leave me" which is NOT AT All what he was thinking but sure girl project your bs onto him

^ seriously none of that was okay. And yeah Eren had moments where he's rude to her or has hit her bc he didn't reciprocate her feelings. He was treating her like he'd treat anyone else.

Worse of all we never see get any real development. (Least not in the anime. Maybe the Manga does it better) she's still over protective to the point it's almost patronizing and outside of protecting him, she has zero ambitions for herself. You can't even say she let him go when she killed him bc even then she didn't move on!

Now what I would have liked to have seen- and I've seen some fan-work creators take this direction- is for them to have more of a sibling relationship.

Imagine this. Everything still happens mostly the same but her motivations are different. It's a found family/sibling sort of love. She wants to protect him bc he's like a little brother to her.

Because Carla begged her to look after him (which is canon)

And so her motivation for protecting him had been to bc of this. Bc Carla begged her, too. Because Eren is the only family she has left.

(And maybe dialing back some of her obsessive tendencies)

And had both gotten growth? Her learning she doesn't have to always look out for him. That he can take care of himself, and him understanding that she was only doing it bc they're the only family they have left and him accepting her as such?

There's also my personal issue that I don't see any build up or reciprocation on Eren's some until the very end so as you can guess I don't ship Eremika. Any defense you could have like him being protective of her or holding her hand he also does for Armin and Historia.

But people act like him not loving her back makes him a bad person or that he treated her bad for not feeling the same? Just because someone loves you doesn't mean you have to feel the same, no matter what they do for you. And I'm saying that as someone who's been on the other end of that! Also personally if someone treated me the way Mikasa treated Eren I'd personally consider her a bad friend. If I can't talk to you about my morbid and depressed thoughts why are we even friends?

Also, I'm not expecting anyone to agree. If you wanna have a calm conversation about it, I'm absolutely down, but don't come in my chats yelling.
