The Argument (aka Watch as These Two Nerds Fight Over Whether Ghosts or Aliens Spirits or Yokai are Real).

It's Dandadan AU time! A bit of lore:

Spirits are supernatural creatures who govern over certain aspects of our world (like Agni is a Sun spirit while Hei Bai is a forest). Yokai are the corrupted souls of humans who suffered in terrible ways, and were unable to move on to the afterlife—thus becoming something else.

Most people can't tell the difference between a spirit and a yokai. These two dorks, though? They're painfully aware of it.

doodle comic i did of blurb au... a fantasy heian era setting where the zoldycks are demon gods (powerful yokai) of kukuru mountain. they can be summoned to do acts of evil/violence for heavy prices (sometimes gold and riches, sometimes sacrifices).

a young nekomata illumi was tricked by a town's priest and hunted with blessed arrows 🏹

running through the nearby forest, he falls onto a mossy, decrepit shrine, oozing blood onto the stones, and repeats a desperate wish - for his pursuers to be horribly killed.

[Hurry, it must be near!]

[DEMON, YOU WILL DIE!!]

"Demon... I am a God. I AM A GOD."

[Follow the demon's tracks!]

[There! It won't escape us!]

"That priest..."

"Tricking me... It is you who will die."

"DIE."

"I want all of you... to die a horrible death..."

I regret nothing.#Katara's is more subtle I think. Especially because she isn't fully possessed by the Painted Lady so she still has control over her actions #So we get creepy black eyes and the Painted patterns and sometimes a weimao

Baddinyan is basically their partner/Whisper od this universe! They live in Blossom Heights

sooo basically when she was 14, her mom got some glasses custom made for her birthday as a sentimental special gift thingy :>

A few days later or something he was gonna spend the night with one of his friends and noticed that he was acting Weird. Night goes on for a while before Caspian goes to his room,,,

Her friend's freaky cat starts talking :O After a short plot-convenient explanation of what yokai are, Caspian gets him to stop inspiriting Friend (spraying him with a water bottle until he stops)

They Eventually becomes friends!!! Kinds begrudgingly and mainly because Baddinyan doesn't have a concrete place to stay without like. Threat of Yokai Exorcism (tm) so Caspian's like well I mean I have room in my house I guess just don't be a nuisance (he didn't listen)

After a while, and a yokai friend or two later, the topic of what to do with the weird medals he's been getting. Tldr;

"Do your glasses not come with a summoning feature? That sucks, nyan"

"Well im soRRY THE OLD GUY DIDNT PUT IN A YOKAI SUMMONING THING? How do I do that"

"I think they sell stuff for it in the yokai world"

Summon band! Just how it sounds. Made by Yopple Inc; it has a slot on the side to put medals into and stuff happens from there :)
